That's it really, he was nearly 12 and we got him as a rescue dog 11 years ago. He had a great life and was a loyal friend. Having to put him to sleep was dreadful but he had cancer and it had spread. Just feel so sad and keep crying.

Sorry for your loss Jazzi, but take some comfort in that you gave him a lovely home, filled with love. You did the right thing.

Really really sorry. Poor pup. We've been there.
It's heartbreaking. Someone told me its the last act of love you can show your pet in these circumstances.
Take care.

So sorry Jazzi. You gave him a wonderful life and did the kindest thing you could do for him in the end. Springers are wonderful dogs.

Thanks

Sorry that you're hurting.

He was well loved and you gave him a good life.

Sorry also to furbaby who lost her dog yesterday Thanks.

You'll both get there. My Bernese was pts just a week and a half ago far too young at age 7. Obviously miss her - its only been a week and a half, but you do start to reconcile to it. I find it helps to remember that your dog is 'free' (from any suffering). The last thing your dog experienced was being surrounded by the family he loved and settling into a deep and soothing sleep x

Sorry to hear others have lost pets recently. It feels so strange waking up and not coming down to his happy little face. You are all right though that at least it has ended his suffering. He had got very thin and couldn't eat much. Thank you all again, your messages have really helped x

I'm so sorry, I know how you feel. Our Springer Dalmatian cross died in September, and our grief was unbelievable. I didn't think anything could ever be good in life again, she was the best thing ever and was doted on.
The house was disgustingly silent and soul less apart from loud sobbing and wailing.
Five months on I can laugh at her antics and the years of amazing memories, but some days I'm crippled with sadness that I'll never see her again. Getting a wee puppy from a kill-pound has helped distract us and pour our love into another wee darling.

Oh so sorry OP. I have a Springer. He adds so much to the sum total of my existence that I can't bear the thought of one day being unable to look into his liquid, knowing, eyes.

We have a Springer and they are very special dogs.

My deepest condolences Jazz. Dogs are better than some people and leave a big hole when the die.

You did right by your dog. Flowers

I'm so sorry Flowers

I also have a 12 year old Springer - who's just had a stroke and had heart disease plus cancer. It's so hard when they get old.
