did my dog have a mini stroke?

My dog is 11. He's an old boy. Yesterday evening he was walking on the wooden floors to go outside for a wee and his back legs semi collapsed and he staggered to the side with his back legs while walking forward. This lasted a few seconds and then he seemed to be fine but was walking a bit slower than normal. Today's he's been sleeping more than normal and has been a bit grumpy.

What do you think mini stroke?

Just noticed you haven't had an answer, Isandri, so I'll have a go. At least it will give this a bump.

How is he now, back to normal? It does sound like it could have been a mini stroke, but it there are other things it could have been. Does he have any other symptoms?
Is his breathing normal? Even a little bit shallow/fast/slow can be significant. Is he eating, peeing, pooing normally. Is he pale? Look at his gums, to check to see if they are pale or a good healthy pink. It can be really significant.

If anything 'isn't quite right' at this stage, then I think you should take him to the vet (if you haven't already).

What breed/type is he Isandri?

He's fine. It was just for a few seconds and he seemed a bit more tired than usual the next day and maybe a bit grumpy, but he still wanted food and walks etc. i gave him a good check over :) Any unusual behavior and I would have taken him to the vets. He's half black lab and half Gordon setter. I think he's on my profile....

He's currently taking up most of the sofa.

One of my lurchers had a small stroke yesterday. She started staggering around, losing control of her back legs, and shaking. I put her straight in the car and took her to the vet. By the time I got there (10 minutes) she was fine, just a few bumps and scrapes where she'd knocked herself. The vet said that 50% of dogs having a first stroke will go on and have frequent attacks. He gave her an anti-inflammatory to ease any soreness, and explained about long term meds if the problem re-occurs. Today she is fine!
