Hi posted a few months ago about my deceased mothers whippet which I had taken in some what reluctantly. Many people were kind and gave me good advise. The dog settled and with time became happy with me. She clearly enjoyed going for walk and at 13 had started chasing rabbits etc again and clearly loved being with others dogs.. My DH said the other day how please my mum would have been that I'd got her. But walking three dogs was driving me mad even though all three were behaving well it was still difficult. This morning I decided that I couldn't continue, I'd tried but the bottom line is that I dont want three dogs, I would contact whippet rescue in the morning. I popped out at lunch time and when I came in she didn't get up to greet me something shed started doing in the last few week when I went over she didn't get up and when I stood her up her back legs kept collapsing. I rushed her to the vet who thought she'd had a stroke and after some discussion she felt that the kindest thing was to have her PTS. She was 13 1/2 years old. So Ive lost one more link to my very much missed mum. She was happy here and for a couple of months lead a different life from that which she was accustomed but she did enjoy it.

Sorry to hear that. I read your story and again, I'm sorry you've had a rough time lately. But at the same time I hope the fact that you managed to do the right thing by her until the end brings you some comfort.

So sorry to hear it. At least she passed as a happy dog.

I remember your story and I'm pleased that she managed to enjoy her last few months with you

School - I remember your situation very well. I'm so sorry to hear of your news. You acted so responsibly in taking on this dog, in a situation that you didn't seek. I really hope you can take pride in that you were able to provide a caring, responsible home for her in her last few months. I also send my continuing sympathy for the loss of your mum - as you say, this is another link with her that is now gone.
