How long for positive interruptor to start working?

We've been making a kissy noise to try to get Fitz's attention if he's doing something we'd rather he didn't do. Today I decided to make it a more formalised positive interruptor so followed the kiko pup video to the letter - after a few goes he realised that he needed to make eye contact in order to get his treat, however he's not yet generalised the behaviour so outside a training session it might work or might not - depends on what else has grabbed his attention

So how long does it take for it to take effect?

You need to do it over and over and over .... and over again in lots of different situations so he can learn to generalise the sound to mean 'I need to pay attention to my human now' in any situation.

Lots and lots of very short training sessions and vary the reward from boring old kibble up to lovely warm fresh meat to make it even more worth his while abandoning what he's doing to pay attention to you.
