Have you bought any clothes/footwear specifically for dog activities?

I'm thinking of buying these gardening clogs:

They might be easier to put on than my trainers at night when I'm popping puppy into the garden for his wee. Started off going into garden in our slippers and now they're all needing washed and likely to fall apart quickly.

I'm also thinking of the evenings when I go for a final walk round block at 10/11pm - I usually spend my evenings in checked/stripy pyjama type bottoms but don't want to expose the neighbourhood to those so maybe need plain trackpants.

What have you bought specifically since getting a dog or for dog walking?

The one thing I would recommend is a really decent pair of wellies . Cheap ones just don't last and you do need to be warm and comfortable . I currently have a pair of Aigle Parcours, used to have Hunters but they have really gone downhill in recent years . I keep a pair of crocs by the back door as well . Also a good warm hat is a must .

I use yard boots for wet weather walks (leather wellies). The best investment ever, mine came from a horsy market stall and cost £80. I also have a Tilley hat which keeps the rain off my specs and a stockman's coat which keeps it off everything else.

I have a pair of jeans that I only wear for dog walking, ditto a fleecy jacket. and of course wellies.

I have mucker boots for dog walking. They lasted me all last winter, which isn't bad at all for £25ish quid. I have a coat with lots of pockets, a small clip on bag for treats/poo bags, and some fingerless gloves (can't manage lead attachment with my fingers covered). I also have a pair of slip on shoes by the back door. I have a whole drawer full of old jeggings/sweatshirts which I wear for dog walking in the winter. Layers are your friend.

I've got wellies so that's fine. A hat is a great idea, will keep at the back door as we're only taking our puppy in the garden at the moment. Crocs for the kids are needed I think as they can be reluctant to go out when they've only got trainers to hand.

I've got a pair of walking shoes, I did have a pair of Hunter's but they started leaking after only 8 months. Desperately need to buy new wellingtons, no way will I fall for the Hunter's hype again. I've also got a dog walking coat which is a waterproof anorak, waterproof bottoms, a wholly hat and gloves. Yes I do look a state but my lab does not care.

Good quality waterproof trousers - I practically lived in them last year.
Waterproof hat.
Decent wellies, I've got Muck boots - the Hunters were rubbish.
Hi-viz jacket for early winter mornings. Worn with a stupid looking head torch that I only wear when no-one is around because I look like a dalek.

I've spent more on dog walking clothes than on 'real' clothes in the last two years!

Those clog/cut off wells type thing are perfect for the garden. A large waterproof by the door that anyone can grab is handy too.

Hunters used to be good ,but now they are made abroad they are purely a 'fashion' item . I also bought a long stock coat last year in a saddlery shop which literally covers everything in the wet weather .

I have wellies and old walking boots, an amazing wind-proof water proof that closes at the front if you need it to so you look like Kenny from South Park and old clothes. The coat is thin so I can layer up or wear it with a t-shirt in June. By December I'll be wearing a Marks underwear vest top circa 2002, a long sleeved t shirt, a fleece, a scarf, my waterproof, gloves, hat, leggings, jogging bottoms and walking socks. I don't bother with waterproof trousers because I end up covered in hair, slobber and god knows what that they've found to chew and then rubbed onto me as well as mud splatter. I'm really selling dog ownership aren't I .

I spent a very enjoyable afternoon with my friend in our local farm supplies shop trying on full length waxed coats and those matching hats, we both came away with a pair of lovely yard boots. DameDeepRedBetty I think I want to be you

Think I need to get a few warm/waterproof things to hand.

Just went for lunch with DH, leaving puppy for longest time yet - 80 minutes. Before we left we went out to the garden with Zebo but it was raining, he didn't seem to need to go so we only tried for 2 or 3 minutes. Came home to several presents in the kitchen!

Zebo seemed as upset about trying to go in the rain as we were so maybe he needs a raincoat too!

When he gets bigger, I bet he'll tell you that he really doesn't need to go out for a wee when its drizzling - but if you were to offer a walk he wouldn't care too hoots that it was tipping down...

I have a pair of gardening shoes for slipping on down the garden. Argyle wellies (that have a good grip and can take thick socks or none at all). Gautex (for layering under), fleeces of different weights, thick gloves and a hat if its really necessary. New dog is not keen on umbrellas yet.

Yes, layers are your friend - and you need a good waterproof and windproof layer on the top - if this can be thin you can use it all year round.

I've found a large pair of rain/waterproof trousers to wear over my jeans to be fabulous for both rain and mud-splashing, and on cold days they provide extra warmth and are windproof, without me having to take off my jeans and put longjohns on underneath (which I find a bit of a faff, but obviously do have to do when it's like -10° (not unusual here in winter)).

Hats - rain hats (I have no shame any more, I even wear mine when I'm not dog walking now, because it's so much more practical than an umbrella especially when you're just popping in and out the car), woolly hats, sun hats.

yy to good wellies, and proper insulated boots for winter if it gets v. cold and snowy where you are. Cold feet are horrible.

I also have a fleecy bodywarmer with lots of pockets which I've found fab for autumn walks when it's not quite jacket weather but you need something on.
