Hi all.

I have a 1yo border collie and a 21 month old DS. They are great friends. Grown up together. Collie won't leave DS' side. But... I am 14 weeks pregnant with dc2 and I really don't know what to expect when I bring baby home. Will pup love new baby like DS or do you think there will be a bit of.. I don't know.. jealously? How do you introduce dogs to babies?

I must add that ddog is the most laid back dog I have ever known and is really well behaved. We have never had any issues with him.

Our dogs are the same with dd1 (3.5). Dd2 is now 5 months and tbh, tey have completely ignored her until recently.
Every few days I'll notice something else. They now check on her when coming into the room. They will also now often choose to sit next to her bouncy chair etc. Today, one of them gave dd1 a lick and then bounced over to the baby to do the same! (bit yuck). Took a while though. Grin.

When DB was born, parents had a collie cross who followed him everywhere when he was older and off on his tricycle. DB was fearless and so many times the police brought DB and dog back home as DM put name and address on collar, as DB got lost.
I was born 3.4 years after DB and dog kept on shadowing DB on his adventures including when DB got into a ditch and couldn't get out.
She ran home all wet to alarm DM who followed her to the exact spot. Dog had obviously been in the ditch water to try to get him out but couldn't. A real-life Lassie she was. She was too busy protecting my DB and I didn't need protecting as too shy and timid to go anywhere on my own.
