We're looking after a border terrier for a while while her family get some things sorted out. She's settled in really well, but it's just dawned on me that when she's at home, she's left alone for some of very day (with a dog flap and access to a big enclosed garden. Because i can, i've been taking her everywhere with me- but I shouldn't be, should I? I should be leaving her at home so she doesn't get out of the habit. Is that right?

I don't know about your little individual but my bt and the others I know enough about are adaptable little fellows who just go with the flow. Changing routines like that doesn't bother mine at all. It won't hurt to leave her sometimes though.

To be honest mine isn't wanting to go out much at yhe minute as he is struggling with the heat.

Her routine has been disrupted by being with you anyway.

And she might fret being left in a strange environment.

That's good-I'd hate to leave her when I didn't have to!
