The window sun shade things you get for babies are good. Can get them pretty cheaply...

Thanks! Glad to know we're not totally bonkers, hope your new puppy is settling in well.

We got our new puppy on Saturday and did Staffordshire to Bristol area which was a similar journey. We had water in the crate for our present dog, then put puppy in crate where seats should go with water and plenty of stops but to be honest he just slept the whole way home

P.S. It goes without saying that we'll have water ready for when we do stop.

We're picking our puppy up on Thursday and needless to say this weather is not ideal!

It's going to be a two hour journey from Staffordshire to Berkshire and we're leaving as early as possible. We've got a (newish) fiesta though the air con is broken (took it to be recharged and they said it was knackered). Current plan is to put puppy in his crate in the boot and fold the back seats down to increase air movement. It's about a 2hr drive and we've planned a halfway stop, though if he's out for the count we may keep going as after that there are ample opportunities to stop. Fortunately we'll be.travelling south so sun won't be shining directly in through the back. That said, I will pop a light sheet over his crate. We'll need to keep the windows open a bit but I don't want to plast the poor little mite!

Does anyone else have any helpful hints/tips as to how we can make sure he doesn't cook.
