Our mini labradoodle is very vocal. He is a neutered 13 month old.

He barks like crazy if anyone walks past the house, if he hears a neighbour n the garden, not to mention if someone rings the doorbell....he's definitely getting worse as he gets older.

He gets plenty of exercise although I've noticed he's better if he's been at the dog sitters because he is super tired after playing with her other dog.

Any help? I am really fed up of it and can't even sit in the garden and relax with him. My neighbour has also mentioned it although he never barks for long as I always bring him in if he does it.

Thanks.

Rosie

thank you for being considerate to your neighbour and not allowing it to bark outside.
My neighbours dog barks like your one and its a complete nuisance. They cant go in the garden without it barking incessantly. They dont go out so much anymore because of this.

Training should help - simply teach the dog that barking is not okay. There should be dog trainers that can help, alternatively books or websites with advice.

If he is less likely to bark when super tired, make sure he gets exercised to the point of getting super tired. I play fetch with my dog, as well as giving her toys and tasks where she has to think. And I make sure she uses her nose (for instance by making her search for her food in the grass) - that really makes her tired.

When I was a kid, we had a cairn who barked a lot. It was even worse if he could see people walking past the house (he would jump up on a chair to look out of the window). If he couldn't get to the windows and wasn't by the front door, he was more quiet.
