The doghouse

Anyone want to guess at the breed?

Of our pup?

After my post on guard dogs and not wanting one for a while, we've rehomed a 12 week old puppy today however where we got her from wasn't certain on her breed. They said some GSD but not sure what else. She looks like she has some mastiff in her to me but I'm not certain.

Picture is on my profile for anyone who wants a guess. Any name suggestions would be good too.

P.S. This isn't a thread about where we got her, backyard breeders, puppy farms and the like, purely a thread about her breed (and to show her off a little!)

Cute dog - don't know what the breed is. Excellent birthday cake by the way - my 12 year old son saw the picture and said 'I want one like that!!'

Thanks isitsnowingyet. That took me ages, then as I carried it to the car for the party I dropped it, managed to catch it again but squashed it with my boobs. Grin

I fixed it though, thank goodness!

I would say bull mastiff and maybe a little boxer in there too :)

We had a boxer-x-mastiff and he was the double of your little pup as a pup :)

She is gorgeous however many varieties! What have you called her? :)

She's a beauty. I'm thinking possibly boxer or a bit of Great Dane too, either way, when she turns a year old, will you take her to give blood?

//Www.petbloodbankuk.org - she looks like she would be great!

I think there's definitely a bit of mastiff in her too, just not sure what else.

She doesn't have a name yet, she was called Jem but we need to change it due to family member called Gemma. Can't decide on anything yet though.

I'd never heard of that Babylon, yes I'll definitely look into it.

She's lovely! She looks like my friend's mastiff cross for sure.

Looks very Ridgeback to me.

A friend said she looks a lot like a Ridgeback, zonedout. She doesn't have a ridge but I guess that could be because she's probably a cross. The only way to tell whether she's mastiff or ridgeback will be when she's fully grown I guess?

I was going to say ridgeback too, I can't really see the gsd in her myself, I reckon crossed with a lab or something size/coat type she does look just like a ridgeback pup.

Are you going to get her DNA tested, I used these for my gsd cross border collie:

Have fun with her :)

A lot of people have said ridgeback to us now. I didn't realise that was possible ginauk, yes we'll definitely do that.

Def bull breed in there somewhere. Lovely.

I met a Ridgeback last week, and there are similarities in the wrinkles on the head and the colouring. He was 7 years-old and a lovely natured, friendly dog. Tall but lean.
She looks adorable, but at 12 weeks she is still just a baby, and teething will begin at 13 weeks and be finished at 6 months. Good luck!

She gorgeous and is the picture of my old Boxer x GSD dog, although he was quite a bit bigger than her at 12 weeks. Carrying him around for socialisation before his vaccinations were complete did both mine and dh's backs in. Grin

He looked like a thicker set Ridgeback without the ridge. You couldn't really see much of the shepherd in him, although we were told many times you could sometimes see the GSD 'wisdom' in his eyes. He did however, despite appearing smooth coated, have the GSD undercoat that shed carpetloads. Hmm

Over the years we had so many people have stand up arguments with us that he must be a Ridgeback cross, but we knew his background, as we met both mum and dad (mum was the boxer, dad was the GSD).

I wish I had a picture on this computer that you could see how similar he looked to your girl look.

Do come back and let us know the results if you decide to do the DNA testing thing.

He was a very special boy and I hope your girl brings as much fun and happiness to your family as he did to ours. Smile

Oh I'm waiting for that digerd, husky was a chewer especially of DH's fingers at first. That soon stopped with training thankfully.

What a lovely post moose, he sounds like a darling dog. Will definitely find out what she is, DH isn't bothered but I'm dying to know.

She's a dream so far, cried for 10 minutes last night then slept from 12am until 5am with no accidents and only 1 wee in the house so far. Compared to husky she's a delight!

The vet thinks mastiff but it's her muzzle that looks different. I think mastiff after reading about them before we got her as she's so darn stubborn!

We've called her Pippa.

I reckon there's something staffie about her ears and forehead. And that nose looks a bit Jack Russell. Can't see GSD, apart from the dark shading on her nose. Those squat little legs remind me of something (Bassett hound??).

But I know naff-all!
