I have a 2yo black Lab and a 9mo GSD.

They are generally good boys but I have a real problem with them 'greeting' visitors - the Lab jumps up and headbutts and the GSD stands and barks.

I have bitten the bullet and announced an open house for this reason. I have invited about 50 people with the proviso that it may take 10 minutes for me to let them in, but once past the threshold tea and cake will be provided.

What have I done! Confused

Well done you. Make sure you have help on hand and loads of treats. Plus a stiff glass of wine for yourself when done. Let us know how you get on

Thank you! I have reserved tomorrow for a clean up and bake day.

I have a niggling feeling I will be friendless by the end of the week Blush

No one turned up Sad

I thought it was a nice idea. Clearly not.

As an aside, anyone want to help me out with a stupid over-abundance of cake?

Seriously? Not a single person out of 50? Poor you - miserable people!

I'll have some cake, thanks! Smile

Perhaps they didn't think you were serious . Perhaps you should just ask one person and spend a while repeating the performance IYSWIM . That's how Victoria Stillwell does it and it seems to work for her . You could have a quick comic relief bake sale with all your cake .

Aw, no one? That is such a shame, it was a great idea. Then again I can't find anyone with a calm older dog who is prepared to sit in a room and let my puppy practice calm hellos with a fast exit when she gets panicky. I didn't think to offer cake though. Grin

I'm low carbing otherwise I'd volunteer to eat cake for you.
