Hi. We have a Springerdoodle, he's the nicest dog. Loves people and other dogs and is becoming really well trained, with lots of time and effort. Just thought I'd give all of you 'designer' breed doubters the chance to have go, ŵith it being Christmas time still.
We've got a springerdoodle, too!
It's the breeders that are the problem not the actual dog.
Glad you love you your dog and he's coming along, but what's the actual point of the post?
I don't think anyone doubts designer breeds any more than they doubt mongrels.
Lots of valid doubts about the motivations of the breeders though ...
Surely it should be a springoodle
The d comes from the Labrador bit
The oodle from poodle
No d in springer or poodle
Springoodle or mongrel
I have a cocker/springer cross. He's adorable, full on and super expensive because he was bred for profit and has many health issues. Also, he likes to injure himself in imaginative ways and the vet now refers to us as 'frequent fliers'
.
Macaroni, they are also known as sproodles.
The term 'doodle' is applied to all poodle crosses.
Some say the 'oodle' suffix relates to how much money the breeder makes from them, rather than their breeding ;)

I have a springer doodle - mum was a springer, dad a miniature labradoodle. I also have a lurcher - mix of greyhound, whippet, collie and Bedlington. Guess which one was harder work.
In reality they are all just 'crossbreeds'. Unfortunately, people paying money for them as 'designer' breeds just encourages people, who probably know very little about breeding dogs, breed for profit.
I don't get the fashion for 'designer' dogs. What is wrong with a nice Springer or a lovely poodle? Then again I'm a Curly Coated Retriever owner and get quite cross every time someone asks if my dog is a Labradoodle.
At the puppy training classes there is a miniature Labradoodle, a Sprocker, a Cockerpoo, a Clumberpoo and Pug/Chihuahua cross (Chug maybe???), the only two non designer dogs is Pupiranha and a lovely little Border Collie.
I still really don't get the point of the op though? Lots of doghouse regulars have successful well trained crossbreeds.
There are no doubters of cross breeds. Just people wary of the damage caused by reckless breeding to turn a fast buck.
Weary. Not wary.
Lovely, I'm sure!
Surely it's a 'mongrel' and nothing wrong with that.
The springerdoodle is created by crossing the English springer spaniel with the poodle.
It is considered a hybrid dog, meaning it is not purebred, however the lineage is known.
Whereas the term mongrel is used when a dog has an unknown lineage.
Not all dog breeders are ruthless. You are quite wrong to say they are.
I would suggest that many of the breeders of the mongrels and staffordshire bull terriers sat in rescues have not been particularly responsible.
No one has said all dog breeders are ruthless
What a ridiculous thread.
I'm glad you're enjoying your lovely mongrel, I love mongrels too. They're the best dogs.
Did you rescue him? If so, great. If you bought him then you're clearly no dog lover.
And by the way, the dictionary definition of mongrel is any dog with parents from different breeds.
Where is op? Perhaps she's been eaten by her pooinger
I just snorted tea out of my nose at the pooinger!
I have a whippet lurcher. That is to say he is a whippet with something else mixed in. My current thinking is that he is whippet x cat x bat. He is no dog, that's for sure.
And we rescued him <polishes halo>

This ^^
With the RSPCA alone killing 32 dogs a day, and Pounds killing even more, I have no time for breeders of any dogs, other than those whose breed is about to die out (like the Otterhound, only 38 registered last year, versus almost 29K Labradors - and guess what an Otterhound looks like?)
My Mutt is a crossbreed that I rescued. If I had gone to a BYB she'd have been called a 'Sprollie', cost me maybe £300 and another dog would have died in a pound...
If there was a like button on MN, i would press it for your post lteve
Broadsheetbabe, you are mistaken about designer dogs being 'hybrids'. They are not, a hybrid is cross between two species, and domestic dogs are just one species, just in different shapes.
Feels really bad about buying our pedigree Springer recently from a breeder who only breeds when they want another dog, then breeds only once from a bitch, waiting list and careful selection of father!!
However, he could not be more loved and adored, he will have everything that we can give him in terms of love, training and attention. He will have a forever home with us, he has given us so much already.
Still have guilt though reading these posts
Needastrongone don't feel bad
That is not the same as a designer dog. You researched, I assume, and bought a Pedigree from a reputable breeder who does it for the love of the breed. The breeder would also no lineage and not breed to risk health problems.
That's not the same as getting a pedigree whatever and a poodle, and mating them for a quick buck. There are loads of mutts in rescue, and we have enough existing dog breeds, no need to make more.
And incidentally I STILL HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE WHAT YHE PURPOSE OF THE OP WAS?????? But I do t think the op knows diddly about dogs or dog welfare.
