Some of you may recall we lost our lovely rescue Staffie, Porridge, to Leukaemia this summer. We went into "no more dogs" mode again, but I couldn't resist the odd peek at the rescue sites. On Sunday DH and I noticed that a dog we had felt very sorry for a couple of months ago was "Oldie of the week" on the Oldies club site and that he had been waitig for a home for 2 Years. Anyway, the rescue think we would be great for him, we have sent references and photos and all being well he will be coming to live with us on Saturday.

He is another Staffie, black and white, aged 8 and has behaved well in foster. We don't mind if he is a bit grumpy with other dogs. The only downside is his name, but we will be changing that pronto! So excited!!!!!

Higgle, that is such LOVELY news. Xmas Grin Oldies Club is a wonderful charity. It's so lovely to know this old boy will be out of a kennel and in a home for Christmas and the winter months. May you have many happy years together.

Good for you - what a happy Christmas he'll have! I'm another fan of Oldies Club; there's something particularly heart-breaking about the older dogs in rescue, and they work really hard to find them homes.

I have just spoken to his foster parent who says he has winsome ways of geting what he wants, and can open doors. He has wormed his way into sleeping in the bedroom, so I'll have my work cut out with discipline!
DH was thinking of "Basil" DS2's friends say "Baby Jesus" because he is arriving at Christmas or just to name him after DS2 because he will be off to uni next year and needs to be replaced ( they are nuts). I think we will just wait and see. I supporse he could be Frank after Francincense....

Funny you should say 'name him after DS2' - that's what my DH said when we got our Springer x puppy.

Our DS2 was off to uni just as the pup came to live with us and DH said he was my baby replacement.
