Dog bedding for elderly Border Collie.

I have just realised that my much-loved Border Collie bitch (failed sheepdog, used to live outside, has been indoors for years and is the most fantastic, calm, family pet, brilliantly tolerant of my 3yo dgs) is Getting On A Bit. She's about 13 and a half, and at night sleeps in the hall.

We live in a rather draughty old farmhouse, and her bed is one similar to this, which we have topped up with old duvets, pillows or whatever. She doesn't chew her bedding but sometimes digs a bit in it.

She needs new bedding (we chuck the pillows etc when she starts to smell) and in recognition of her maturity I'd like to spoil her a bit this winter. Any suggestions?

She spends most of her days snoozing in front of the livingroom fire, and has another similar bed in that room, but at night the temperature drops so I'd like her to be cosy. It's not practical to leave her in the livingroom overnight as sometimes she has "accidents" and they're much easier cleaned up from the hall/kitchen lino than the livingroom carpet.

Oh, have just realised that the bed to which I linked is quite small, it's that shape but Border Collie sized!

We've used Vetbed Gold for older dogs.
It's very warm and luxurious, but easily washed as well.

Oooh, and DH just bought one of these for one of the his favourite cats

She won't sleep inside the house and is in a stable, we keep finding all the other cats in it and it is really cosy

I am very fond of the £3 polyester fleece blankets from Ikea for my beasties (dog and cats). Cheap as chips so no bother if they get ruined, they wash really well (well, they pill and hair seems welded to them but they get clean) and dry in a flash. And they seem to be fleece-seeking machines now they're old.
Not chic but who cares.

My 12 year old collie cross has single duvets with covers on, folded in half, he's laying on 2 at the moment, in the corner of the bedroom.
He does scruff them up though to make a duvet mountain

I find them easy to wash. I get the covers from boot sales or charity shops.
He has a duvet in the lounge as well.

Thanks for your ideas, she's had duvets (the £5 from Asda variety) before and they do work well, also used VetBed, but find myself strangely attracted to the catbed thingy...

Oldlady I was very sceptical about the thermal bad but it is astonishingly warm and comfy.

I bought it from a place online called monster pets and it was cheaper than the link I made earlier.

With our elderly collie (same circumstances as yours, right down to the draughty farmhouse!) really benefited from a memory foam dog bed with a plastic/waterproof cover under the fleece cover that could be remove for washing.

It was so good, the cats stole the bed and I had to buy a new one for my dog!

Argos have lots on sale at the moment. I cant link properly.
They have a blue waterproof dog mattress, £10, was £30.,

The only problem I find for my dog is that when any of his beds are compressed with his weight on top (42kg) he can feel the hard floor.
I have even been known to get in and try!
He is a collie x wolfhound, and now has arthritis.

Mine cant go out for 2 weeks, as his back leg keeps giving way. He is not very happy with me! But its vets orders.

Im going to get him the blue mattress from Argos tomorrow & a new double duvet. £8 was £25, so that might cheer him up.
