I am so cross!!!

A 'friend' of mine had a dog. It had been her Mum's dog but her Mum couldn't cope with it. While friend had her Mum's dog her Mum got a puppy. Friend then had puppy too, then her Mum had her own dog back. Friend didn't bother to train puppy, so obviously puppy was a PITA, so friend gave the puppy to another friend of hers.

Still with me?

Now friend is looking after another friends well behaved, well trained adult dog and is looking at ads for dogs. She has just posted on Facebook how upsetting it is that a bitch is being rehomed as she can't have puppies.

This really pisses me off. People do occasionally have genuine reasons to rehome, but to me, rehoming a dog because you can't be arsed to train it is just as bad as rehoming as it can't have puppies.

I just know she is going to end up with another dog that will then end up being rehomed again. Angry

I don't blame you for being cross. Some people don't have the brains they were born with.

Sadly this will always happen - some people see dogs (and other animals) as things to be disposed of when they start becoming an inconvenience.

I understand your anger.

[anger]

I would not be able to stop myself saying something to her, friend or not (probably would be not after the conversation)

Well I've seen her this afternoon and pointed out that looking after a ready made dog is not the same as owning a dog that requires training. I also said she shouldn't get another dog regardless and she's not suited to dog ownership.

She took it quite well actually and said she knows I'm right, so hopefully that's the end of it. Hopefully....

There's no rule that you have to have a dog. Why do these people bother?

Well done for speaking up!
