We have just been on holiday to Croatia with ddog...

and were once again (we go every year) struck by how incredibly dog tolerant / friendly it was.

Everyone had brought their dog - dh and I joked that they wouldn't let you in unless you had one with you :)

Ddog was welcome pretty much everywhere - restaurants, many tourist attractions, beaches etc.
It was absolutely wonderful to have her along and not be worrying that she was disturbing anyone or unwelcome in any way.

We were on the Istrian coast, near the town of Pula, btw.

Dh and I would both really recommend it to fellow dog owners.

Where else you would recommend as being particularly good to take dog on holiday with? I'd love to hear stories of other countries (or specific places) which are dog friendly :)

Was it a hotel or campsite? we are considering Croatia next year and I can't bear to leave the dog at home.

We were in private (family) accomodation, but everywhere around us - campsite opposite, various flats for rent etc - was full of dogs.

I think it will usually specify on accomodation website whether pets are welcome. Also, I suspect beaches near large touristy hotels might not allow dogs, but where we were (at the cape Kamenjak which is also a nature reserve) dogs were specifically allowed.

We wanted to do a boat trip from the town Medulin (couldn't in the end because of weather) and when we went along to get tickets and ask whether dogs were allowed too they looked at us like "Well what did you expect to do with her??? Of course your dog is allowed, as long as she's on lead."

We found the same in France this year. Went to restaurants and ddog had a bowl of water before we got menus. Dogs allowed everywhere and Pet Travel Scheme was seamless!
