Hoping you helpful people might be able to give me some advice about a puppy walking issue because it's really starting to get to me.
I have a 13 week old golden retriever who I love lots. I take him for a few short walks a day but when out he wants to stop and smell EVERYTHING. Now if it was just stop, sniff, move that would be fine but it's stop, sniff, sit down, try to get under the grass etc etc.. At the moment he's just still small enough to pick up to move past the smell but this morning we never got past the first bit of our walk because he took so long at everything. I'd move him but there would be a new smell right there. I'm not pulling on the lead as I don't want to hurt his neck.
Otherwise he's great on the lead, trots along beside me, no pulling or trying to bite the lead. The smelling is mostly at the start of the walk although it can happen at any point.
