im not talking about the responsible breeder but those that breed purely for money

REMEMBER ME -ODE TO THE IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDER

  • Trudie James -

Remember me, though I know that you won't
I'm the pup that you bred, I'm the soul that you owned

Remember my mum, though you'll just get confused
She's the bitch that you broke, she's the womb that you used

Remember the vet that you didn't call
When the blood ran so dark in our cold dank stall

Remember how cruelly you kicked me away
When I dared lick your hand - I just wanted to play

Remember the age that you wrenched me from mum
With my hold on life fragile and my weaning not done

Remember the home that you didn't check
That kept me outside with a chain round my neck

You'll remember the blood money you exchanged for my life
You'll remember the goodies it bought you and the wife

Now imagine my fate and cringe with your shame
See my sad lifeless eyes and my skeletal frame

I've known neglect and abuse I feared never would end
When Death came for your pup, it came as a friend

There are thousands just like me in the yard, street and pound
And whilst bad breeders breed this grim cycle goes round

You failed in your duty though I was born at your will
Now I'm your fatal shadow that walks by you still

I hope, my cruel breeder, that your guilt's worth your gain
You filled your car with my fear, bought your beer with my pain

But no act goes unnoticed and no sin goes unpaid
You'll account for my life at the end of your days

I'll be right there beside you when at your Reckoning you stand
You'll remember me then - it's my blood on your hands .

Completely agree with these posts. ( I got my boys as the family we bought house off were emigrating )

I would love to see compulsory licensing with the revenue going towards having proper checks in place for breeders, harsh penalties for not picking up poo and prosecutions for neglect etc. I'd happily pay a licence fee.

Licensing won;t necessarily solve the problem, I know someone who is a KC Accredited Breeder but still knocks out litter after litter. And when one of her bitches ran out of "legal" litters last year, she is now selling cross breeds (doodles) for even more money. And she honestly can't see what she is doing wrong.

I don't understand how they make money at all, even if the pups are not raised properly? But then again I am still reeling from the fortune mine have cost this week and probably over estimating how much bad care costs Sad

It should be illegal to advertise dogs online or in local free ads. Decent, reputable breeders will have word of mouth and breed clubs to advertise for them anyway. I doubt they'd be effected by a ban on the advertisement of live animals for sale.

The annoying thing is she is full of vitriol for anyone else that does it - her FB page is full of all those sentimental pictures of abused dogs in rescue centres needing homes, but won't accept she is simply adding to the problem by pumping out 30 puppies a year (all advertised on Preloved etc). She is a Dog Lover don't you know and therefore can't be doing anything wrong. And there must be plenty more just like her

People actually pay BYBs £500? Around here they for between £100 - £200 unless they're a 'desginer' breed or KC reg, even then it's only £250-£350.

There was a pitbull/staffy x pup on my FB wall for £100 a few days ago. Stupid bitch even spelt out it's breed for everyone. She might as well have just handed the poor thing directly to dog fighters. I messaged her and advised all I got in reply was "Thnx for the advise. We'll get more for a pit bull than a staffy x so I'll leave my ad as it is" Sad

This person I know lives in home counties so £450 for the ones she registered with KC under "accredited breeder scheme" and £700 for the doodles. However she had more trouble selling the unregistered ones. But people see she is accredited by KC and think therefore everything must be great. I do not like the KC. I have a mongrel but she is a working dog and was to bred to be so. Therefore she was cheap. However I have had her spayed to make sure she has no litters.
