Dogs and cats (and chickens)

Day three of puppy.

After some growling and wuffing the last two days, Pup is generally ignoring the cat, apart from a bit of a low level growl at her when she came within a metre of her this evening. She barked at the chickens when she saw them through the patio doors, but when I took her out on a long string she was easily distracted away from even bothering to look at them.

Are we playing it right? For all 'other animal' interactions, we're keeping her close and if she looks too interested, we're trying to be much more interesting!

Cat has just come for a stalk around the living room. Pup is on my lap and didn't even lift up her head.

We're not allowing the dog upstairs, and the cat has a stairgate to the utility room with her bed/food/water/catflap.

In other news, we've had lots of garden wees today! Yay!

Dog and cat will sort themselves out, with the dog probably getting a bop on the nose a few times.

Chickens will likely take a bit more work - what's the puppy breed? Keep taking the pup into the chickens on a long line and growl a leave it command if she looks interested in them, do some training in there so the dog becomes steady to them.

Keep going as you are with distractions around them but don't be afraid to firmly say no or leave it if the pup does something you don't want. It will never be easier than now to train her to behave the way you want, so don't waste it!
