My adorable, gorgeous Belle.

Got up at 0630- played with her in the garden, played with her in the kitchen, had a mini-walk to the shop at the end of the road (in my arms) to buy milk- generally spent the past few hours entertaining her.

Put her into the utility room with the door closed so that i can clean the house up- she is yelping and yapping away-

I should ignore this shouldn't I???

No, she's not trying to manipulate you, dogs aren't that sophisticated. She's just objecting to the fact that the constant attention she has had for the past few hours has ended.

Is she still a puppy? If so, don't leave her too long, just short periods to start with, try and wait until a quiet spot before going to her, and avoid making a big fuss of her when you let her out. Some people go in and out of the room, without interacting with the dog, so they learn that they are just on their own for a bit not permanently abandoned.

Make quiet time ok time by giving her a toy/chew/treat and a comfy bed. Gradually build up the time she is on her own as her confidence grows and she relaxes about it.

If she is an adult, same process, but be prepared for it to take longer as you will be dealing with a learned behaviour.
