As the title - my friend's 7 month old pug hasn't kept down any food down today - he is drinking, and is now bringing up black bile :(. Have told her of course to take him to a vet but was wanting advice for her for tonight - what she should do to make him comfortable. She won't be able to get him to the vet tonight due to her circumstances.

She needs to ring her vet and talk to them about the problem. A vet is able to give her useful advice, we can only offer general information.

Is the vomit really black, or is it very dark bile?

Black vomit needs checking out ASAP. If it is as you describe, she should find some way of talking to her vet tonight. Putting it off until the morning won't do.

have told her to phone the vets - think it's very dark bile but have not seen her today - thanks

My dog had this, and turned out to be a stomach bug! I was really worried that he had an obstruction.

Can she really not get anyone to take him to a vet? I had a cat vomiting like this through the night, I lived alone and had no telephone, I waited til the morning to get him to the vet and he died. It was over 15 years ago and I still feel dreadfully guilty. I was giving him spoons of water but he still got too dehydrated and by the time I reached the vet it was too late, even though they put him on a drip.
Extreme vomiting is an emergency and needs attention ,get her to call the vet and explain her circs if she really can't leave the house, as some make house calls.

Another one to recommend phoning the vet ASAP. At 7 months old he is just a scrap of a thing -at that size/age/weight he will not have the strength to fight anything serious.

Phone the vet or even better get someone anyone to take him!!! Also worth having look around house for evidence of anything he might have eaten. He's a puppy they can deteriorate very very rapidly he urgently needs a vet before he gets so dehydrated his sugar levels drop and he can have a seizure :(

Was also just about to post asking if there is any news on the puppy? Am hoping the silence is because they are down the vet after all. Hang in there little puppy :)
