NOT at all amused. Angry I was out with my daughter and rescue JA practicing his recall on a long line (with halti) near the local park. He was doing well and was sitting beside me getting petted by the kids when someone's King Charle's came running up, off leash, and attacked my JA SadAngry Obviously he protected himself, but I had the long line looped around my fingers and now have a lovely set of blood blisters where the line dug in.

Thank god he had the halti on or else there would have been children injured by the weight of him thrashing about trying to get away. The KC owner didn't even check if the kids around us were ok, never mind apologise for her dogs behaviour. Apparently her other dog (another KC) had been pinned down by 2 Akita's..... dunno how that makes it right. If your dog has poor recall and you can't control it KEEP IT ON A LEASH!!!!!! AngryAngry

I'm sorry your dog was attacked but please don't attach a long line to a halti - if the dog ever ran to the end of it it would snap his head around and cause serious damage to his neck or spine. I've even seen a nasty injury from a dog hitting the end of the line on a plain collar (at some speed, admittedly). Same goes for flexi leads with headcollars.

Also best not to wind the line around your hand, as you've found! Just let it trail and pass it hand over hand, don't loop it.

Long line was attached to his body harness and his usual shorter leash on the halti. We had stopped to let my daughter play at the park while I watched. Lesson learned, will remove long line as soon as we stop. I hadn't gotten round to removing it.

That's awful, Kindle. Glad your dog and kids are okay.

I got my leg caught in a long line once so sympathize with the blisters too.

According to the KC owner, ever since 1 of her 2 KC had been involved on an altercation

Bloody iPhone! The KC owner said that her KC would have always been prone to going for other dogs but had become worse since her other KC had been involved in an altercation with 2 Akitas. She came round to my house to explain ( the joys of a small town .....) def something going on with her dog tho. Have had JRTs have a go before but never a KC. Always had the impression they were pretty docile dogs Hmm At least the dogs were'nt hurt. ( hate DHs iPhone)

There are a pair of KC's walked near me, and one is muzzled and always on lead. Goes bananas if another dog walks past. The owner told me that it was attacked and now has fear aggression.

aww my akita has been attacked twice. once by a very muscular staff and second time by a group of chihuahuas! each time i told her to leave it and bless her she did ( i dont want to bring out that side of her) each time i just had to try knocking the dogs off her with my foot and leg.
