Sigh. Jasper was on Burns Mini Bites, about 300g a day (a lot more than the recommended amounts). He was doing well on it, but seemed to be constantly starving. He was always trying to steal food, scoff food he found in the street etc. I thought he was a greedy little bugger. However, I've switched him on to Skinners Duck and Rice over the last week, and he seems much more content. He is eating less food, but seems less hungry. He no longer attempts to vault on to the dining table at meal times, and is generally less manic around food he discovers on walks. Good, yes? Except his poos are now loose, and he's gone from two poos a day to about six. These poos are hard to clean up, and are spotty (tiny white dots throughout the poo, almost like air bubbles). He was last wormed at the end of January, and the spotty poo has only appeared with the looseness and the new food. I can't feed RAW right now, it has to be dry kibble. Any suggestions for a feed that will keep him content, like the Skinners, but keep his digestion healthy, like the Burns?

I've always found the Burns recommended amounts too low for my dogs so I just feed by eye, what they need. You wouldn't weigh your own food or your child's, so why the dog's?

Is he old enough to switch to an adult Burns higher energy food? Burns Alert, and Burns Active are both very good, and easy on the digestion. The kibble is much denser (the mini bites are a bit rice crispie like so the volume looks enormous).

It seems so pricey but I'd really Rec Orijen- my dads dogs both on it- one on the 6 fish version and the other on regi

Sorry, don't know what happened there!

Orijen seems to really fill dogs, ie you need to give less but they get more 'meat'- I think it's 80% fresh meat, no grains or other fillers. I feed RAW but if I'm ever stuck I keep a bag of Orijen in the cupboard.

Orijen does look great, but it's a bit above what I can comfortably pay. I can stretch to the Burns at a push, but was hoping that the Skinners would work out tbh as it's half the price. Ah well, I'll order the Burns Alert and see if it suits him better. I do give him the odd meal of raw chicken pieces, and his poo is always much better afterwards. We're in the process of moving, so RAW isn't practical right now (too much going on to tackle the proportions etc).

I feed my sprollie csj food, not available through shops but can buy from certain people round the country and online. It's fantastic food for her,no runny poos, she is fulfilled but then I give her slighly more than they recommend and currently as she is due in season even more as the hormones are making her hungry.I can't recommend this food highly enough especially if you are on a budget and want quality food.
