Bedlington and housetraining

Someone rehomed a bedlington terrier to me about 6 months ago, she's about 2 years old and a lovely dog. Her life had been living most days in a large pen with another dog, and not being taken out very much. She's come ahead in leaps and bounds in confidence since I have her, and is a happy dog, theres just one problem. She just refuses to be housetrained for weeing.

It's not for want of trying, bringing her out in the mornings and heaping praise on her when she goes. This works when I catch her at just the right moment, but whats happened on many mornings lately, which is so frustrating is, I bring her out (she hates the cold wet grass and holds her front paw up while staring at me. ) I hide behind the curtain and watch her while she remains like a statue in that position. This goes on forever, so I go and make tea, come back in 10 minutes and let her in. Five minutes later she wees on the carpet. AAAAAgh !!! Anyone any ideas? I had a male Bedlington before and he had no housetraining problems.

I think you are going to have to walk her first thing, and stay out there until she does go.

Inside use a solution of biological washing powder to clean up as this will remove her scent mark. Disinfectant doesn't do this, and she will always prefer to wee on her spot.

Not sure if it works for adults, but with pups dabbing a spot of their urine outside where you want them to go helps. Worth a try.
