I already have one dog , would love a whippet , have space for one on the sofa . But two dogs equals double the mess / cost/time /smell doesnt it ? Or is it just double the love Grin

We actually looked at a Whippet when we were first looking for dogs, but I just didn't fall in love with them, and we ended up getting 2 generic rescue dogs. But (for us) I found that 2 dogs are not twice as hard, stinky, messy as one (though they are more expensive), and in some ways it is easier to have 2.

Whippets are very narrow, you probably won't even notice it's there. They don't shed much or smell much either....

Oh I'd love a whippet. Quick run twice a day, nice comfy spot of the sofa, quick nibble on a bit of food, bish bash bosh. I ideally wanted a whippet before we got out puppy, DH wasn't so keen and we ended up with our Lab x by accident, anyway. Keep trying to talk people into (who are thinking of a dog, not just random strangers!) a whippet, the amount who say "oh they look strange" Grrrrr! No taste, the fools! Oh, and the collar porn!!!!

Get one get one get one!!!

I'd love a whippet. The only problem I have heard about them is that their tails are whip like and can hurt your legs when they are wagging it.

Nope I've not had my legs whipped by my whippety Lurchers tail.

They are wonderful dogs go for it.

Actually only want a bitch , to even up the numbers in the house a bit ! plus i have heard its easier to introduce a female dog into a house with a male (castrated) dog . If thats tosh then id be happy with a male .

I tried to get a rescue whippet some years ago - there weren't any! Apparently they are so lovely to live with they seldom need to be rehomed.
I expect the odd one or two come up when their owners die or get divorced.

Go on.......Grin

You're in the wrong place for whippet aversion therapy.

Mouse (our lab x rescue) adores whippets, and will run after them for hours - they are the only dogs that run faster than him.

Actually, I'm beginning to suspect something deeply pointy about Mouse - dh crumbled and got a DNA testing kit a couple of weeks ago, so we shall see!

I'm pretty sure there have been a couple of whippets recently on dogsblog.

or Italian greyhound.... I also fancy a whippet

I love Italian Greyhounds. I would really love one but decided they are a future dog as they look so dainty. I know the boys would never hurt it but figured the goldie is more robust. Grin

Oh Quodlibet that website is terrible. I can't look at that without wanting to home 10 1 of the dogs on there.

I've got a whippet. She's lovely. Cuddled up on the sofa with me at the moment.

You should definitely get one.

I think it was dogs blog that we found her. Drove three hours to get her and three hours back, and she was worth it!
