10 week old puppy question

My puppy wees in his crate sometimes (so far he does his other business outside). As a result, the towel in the crate smells terrible. I hadn't washed it yet because we brought it home from the breeder and it had his Mum's scent on it. My guess is it now just smells of wee but wanted to check, can I wash it yet?

Yuck. I'd have washed it the first time he pissed on it.

I washed my pup's 'mummy blanket' after one day as she weed on it (my fault of course for not letting her out in time!). I thought that if I didn't it would encourage her to wee on it again. I bought some biological washing liquid as I'd read on here that is best.

You need to completely wash the smell of wee out of his crate. If it smells like a toilet then he will use it as one!

I would have washed it as soon as it was pissed on. It's just encouraging your puppy to use it as a toilet.

It sounds very obvious when you guys say it out loud. Will do it now. Was so worried he'd be sad Blush

Use a bio washing powder/liquid to get all the 'puppy pee here' smells out of it.

Puppy turned twelve weeks today. After your advice, I washed everything with biological wash and cleaned everything down with diluted surgical spirit. Today and yesterday were the first days we have had NO toileting accidents! I say it again, NONE. Thank goodness for some common sense from you guys taking precedence over my (daft) stupidity! Thank you.

jumping up and mouthing the kids to deal with next...

Great news shouty! Are you taking your puppy out now? My pup will be able to go out early next week but I feel a bit nervous as she's quite small and I don't want huge labradoodles (apologies to said labradoodle owners - they're not all crazy I know!) bouncing all over her. We seem to have quite a few of those locally.

Does your puppy sleep well at night? I'm not enjoying getting up at 6 which seems to be her preferred wake up time having been put in her crate at 11.30.

We will take him out on Saturday!!! He is pretty massive so I don't have your issue. Mine is walking with him on the lead correctly. my husband had a puppy growing up so it is quite natural to him. It is NOT natural to me.

he sleeps well until 5 30. it is so painful!! I don't know whether to ignore him or not. he has only been dry in the crate at night for a few nights and i am worried he is whining cos he needs to wee. This all wakes up the toddler so I give up and start the day. Big sigh.
