Poo accidents after his 'holiday'.

Just got pup (5.5 mo) back from a week away yesterday. He'd been staying with our trainer and a load of dogs. Very well looked after and he behaved brilliantly. However, five minutes after we got in, he had diarrhoea all over the hall (carpet!). He slept all evening and woke crying in the night. He NEVER does this, so we came down to let him out and he pooed in the garden. I haven't let him out at night since the day we got him. Seemed perky this morning, but has just pooed all over the kitchen. He hasn't had a housetraining accident since we've had him.

He looked very odd when I got him home. Tummy all swollen. They'd spent the day in an orchard, so I can only assume he'd eaten apples. Tummy looks normal this morning.

Any thoughts? Should I get him to the vet? Rice diet or starvation today? I'm having to keep him crated most of the day I think as can't risk the toddler/ poo combination.

We had 24 hours of this with our 6mo pup last week. I also suspect apples, though it could have been the switch over to Royal Canin Hmm

Anyway: I gave him boiled chicken and rice for a day, then mixed in with normal food next day, and he was fine. He'd never had an accident either, but diarrhoea is diarrhoea! Its brilliant that your (and our) pup cried in the night to be let out, well done pups Smile

its the apples. your dog will have eaten windfall, semi fermented apples. give him bland food for a couple of days and keep an eye on him. the seeds can make dogs v poorly. apologies for naff typing and lack of caps, just painted nails black for halowwen.
