We use advocate and it seems to work, as does advantage - we were on that for a while. When cat got bad we had him on program for a while as a back up. It doesn't kill the fleas but stops them breeding, so helps with house infestation.

I got really fed up with frontline. I kept telling the vet it wasn't working and he just kept giving our dog (we just had one then) and cat more and more, way over dose, which made my cat ill. It still didn't work. He then sprayed the cat and dog in it until they were literally dripping. Cat was very ill and it still didn't work.

I will never use frontline again. Needless to say, I also now have a different vet. Grin Two dogs now and cat and all are flea free.

I've never treated my spaniel for fleas. He is 16months old so I guess we've been lucky so far. I'm guessing I should try one you mentioned. Are they available in pet stores or do you have to get them from a vet?

Advocate is prescription only and thus can only be bought from a vet or online with a prescription.

Are you defleaing your whole house at the same time?
Also how warm is your house? I'm sure I've never had flea problems because I'm so stingy with the central heating.
