Waiting for jabs and keen to make the best of these 2 weeks. We are house training, training/playing sit, down, come, lead practice, meeting all sorts of people and vaccinated dogs, grooming, playing retrieves and tug, play biting practice. Am I missing anything?

We took Poppy out in the dolls pram. It got her socialised and used to the big wide world without any risk. We also took her out in the car to get her used to that (with pram for other end). Otherwise, in those early days, your only trips out are to the vet and that's not always a good association!

I thought I looked like a right prat rather silly, but people kept coming up and saying how lovely she was. Nobody openly pointed and laughed, at any rate Grin

I think there's a pic on my profile of her in the pram!

I used to take Bailey to Pets at Home for a wander round - very close by and we're registered with the vet there - carried him of course. There are rabbits and guinea pigs in cages, interesting smells and other dogs and he always got lots of attention from everyone, and a treat from the checkout person if I bought something, which I usually did.

Work on recall 'cause once lab is in big wide world you'll need it !

Labs are very friendly dogs and want to play with everything in sight , have a 10 month lab myself.

Agree about trips in the car .

Check if a vet near you holds puppy parties for dogs who have not yet had their second jab. The one we went to at our local vet was free. It was great for meeting other new dog owners and getting basic training tips from the vets,
