As well as the night time questions on my "Now I don't know what to do" thread could someone give me advice about positioning of crate?

At night she has slept in crate in kitchen with blankets over it, toys in it, hot water bottle, radio on etc and that has gone quite well - apart from the getting up bit but that's on the other thread!

I have put a kong in there and she will wander in and out of the crate during the day but is not sleeping in there, prefers to sleep on the floor wherever me or husband are. I work in the dining room next to the kitchen and have a door out to the garden and she is sleeping on the floor in the sunshine. I have therefore moved the crate into the dining room with me - I put it in the place she was sleeping, took the blankets off and have left door open, so she can see me at my PC - is this right?

Husband works upstairs in the office, so was wondering if the best thing for him to do is the same, i.e. take the crate up there when he is working and encourage her to snooze in the crate rather than on the sofa or by his feet -any thoughts?

Thanks in advance :)

The whole point being that I want to eventually start leaving her in crate for short periods whilst we go out of the room etc so are we making a rod for our own back by humping the crate around or will it make her more comfortable about using it?

Right, have just read something from Ian Dunbar about crate training and seems I am doing the right thing, also puppy is in there! I have just made a fuss of her and given her a treat - door is open. She is popping in and out when I move around between the kitchen and dining room but is actually lying down for longer periods than she has done over the last couple of days.

I would do the same thing, move the crate around so that she can both be with you and be in the crate.
