Cheers Kid! I've just replied, though I don't know WTF I can do, if anything. I wish I could afford it, I'd take the poor mite myself and have him cared for but I would be in no better position, which is why my boys are insured.

This is a sobering reminder to all dog owners to insure their pets unless they are very, very well-off and can afford unexpected vet bills of possible thousands of pounds.

Teddy is insured and will be going vet as soon as they can see him. I am hoping it will just be a quick and simple visit with no need to claim on the insurance but at least we have it just in case.

Thanks for replying on the other thread, I hate to think of that poor dog suffering.

He has vile breath which can't be right for an 11 month old pup with pearly white teeth?
It came on all of a sudden too. I am praying it's not a blockage as I won't be able to agree to let them operate on him. I won't even let them sedate him for an x-ray. Even if it's for the best, I just can't do it. I don't even want to take him vets by myself but dh is at work so I don't have any choice.

The good thing is that he is eating and going to the toilet and us his usual self. It's just the smell and a brownish discharge around his mouth. I can't help but worry though as he is my baby!

Oh L. is that you? Or are you a friend of L's? Either way, I'm so, so sorry darling.

THANK YOU L from the bottom of my heart for giving him his life. I know that he was wonderfully cared for by you and by K and that he had a fantastic life with his new owners too. They must be devastated, please pass on my heartfelt kind wishes. K would be so sad, I'm sure, but so glad too that Grover/Sam had the very best you all could give him. I'd like to think that they are both safe at Rainbow Bridge.

To explain to other readers... wildlifewoman is either L, the owner of a sanctuary come rescue or a friend of L's. I've chatted with both on here so am unsure which she is.

When I first got involved in rescue I was asked by a marvellous Irish rescuer to find a UK rescue place for Grover, an unwanted little dog with no hope of a home offer in Ireland. I found L's sanctuary by pure good fortune and they offered to take him. I soon learned how fantastic this rescue is and owe them the world. L's late husband and founder of the sanctuary/rescue had, with L, a dedication to their animals which was and is limitless. Despite all manner of wicked and uncalled for opposition and unfounded allegations and persecution from the RSPCA in the darkest of L's days when her wonderful Husband was fighting and losing his battle against ill health they kept on caring for all the animals in their charge and L continues to do so to this day.

They had Grover (then renamed Sam) for some considerable time and eventually found him a perfect home with an older couple who doted on him, fed him meat from their own butcher and spoiled him rotten. It was here on MN I heard more of this, when by chance L popped in for coffee with an MNer who happened to be on the forum at the time and L recognised who I was. Hence I think that wildlifewoman might be that friend if she isn't L herself.

I owe L and her much-mourned husband K the world... and so does all rescue and so many animals who have benefitted from that rescue's tireless work.

I'll leave it to wildlifewoman to name the rescue and to state where in the UK it is... if she'd like to I'd be delighted and if it's named would beg you all to spare it a thought when considering which charity to offer a few pennies to or, if you are local, which rescue/sanctuary to offer your spare blankets/newspapers/duvets/raffle items/spare petfood to. They really, really need and deserve all the help they can get and, as I said, I owe them big time.

Little Grover.... rest in peace darling... you were very much loved.

And I'm SO sorry Kid.... I got carried away with myself and then both DDs came downstairs and created chaos. I pressed send without saying that I hope Teddy's okay and can only ask you to trust in your vet. I understand what you're saying and your fears but speak as a woman who, had she not taken medical advice and done as the docs suggested wouldn't be here to type this now.

Go easy on yourself and try not to worry Kid.

x

thanks Val.
I have an appt booked for 6:10 but I am sitting here convincing myself that he his breath isn't as bad as it was yesterday/the day before. But I reckon I am just looking for an excuse not to go or that I have got used to the smell lol

Oh well, I am going to take him anyway and will hopefully be worrying about nothing.

i'm always happy to donate to charities, but obviously can't do all all the time. I have some items I could donate if the rescue is anywhere near me. Not sure if you know where I am but you could PM or facebook me the location so I can see if I can get some things their way?
