New thread for tennis fans, with or without the ability to watch on tv. Or even live and in person envy [tennis]

<Serves under arm into the net>

(When should we start pestering for our [tennis] back?)

LetZygonsbeZygons Mon 24-Mar-14 16:56:03

well done Raah. found you!

Andy played well, and Lendl was watching from the stands.

Agree with whats being said about Isner.

Hes lovely, but has no personality at all. love the way he bounces the ball between his legs tho when hes about to serve.

magimedi Mon 24-Mar-14 17:48:46

I think we should have [tennis] back for the French Open & through till at least end of Wimbledon!

flowers for new thread, Raahh

Raahh Mon 24-Mar-14 19:16:06

Well- i had to go out- and Dogs seems to be having a few problems- and the match has been suspended??

Raahh Mon 24-Mar-14 22:32:57

Vamos Rafa!

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Mon 24-Mar-14 23:18:57

Just going to mark my place with this. Hoping it works. Potato after his op.

Raahh Mon 24-Mar-14 23:36:32

awwww- potato!!

Vamos Rafa- beat Istomin quite easily. Not quite Tomic time, but not badgrin

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 08:51:06

Ooh shiny new thread, thank you Raahh. All the usual suspects through, although slightly surprised that Fognini beat Bust-a-Gut.

Poor old Pot. Think he needs special nursing? Cos I'm free you know?

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 08:55:25

Phew I found you all. Thanks raahh thanks
Aww poor potato! such a cute pic
Thanks to my youngest I watched the whole of the tennis last night, rafa looked great the match was dull though istomin couldn't do much. wawrinka through too.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 09:13:16

Oh dear Mama, poor you. Clouds and silver linings though!

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 10:59:44

Ooh you've all GOT to see this (if you haven't already). Search "Dimitrov helps ball girl Miami 2014". He's so lovely, just can't imagine him and Shrieky together.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 11:05:13

I've been looking at the order of play- some interesting matches to come- but right at the end, Isner is playing Berdych. I bet that will be thrillinggrin

order of play

I am torn now, as Stan is playing my new best friend, Dogsbollocks. I don't mind who wins, really. I would love to see Tsonga beat Murray (sorry), but I really don't think he will.

Did you see the Ivanovic/Kvitova scoreline. I've never liked Ivanovic- and clearly after winning the first set, she couldn't be bothered anymore and lost the next 2, 6-0 6-0.

(I'm going to find out she was horrifically injured now aren't I? grin)

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 11:10:45

Definitely time Gregor ditched Shrieky. He could do so much better. And she makes sweets , ffs.

What a lovely bloke. I bet she keeps a copy of that clip for a long time grin
Shrieky would have just chucked a soggy towel at her, and hissed for a ball maybe

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 15:45:22

Shrieky would just carry on playing tennis around the poor fainted girl! And then complain to the umpire that ball girl was in her way.

Where's three these days? Just heard Boris had surgery on both hips yesterday.

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 17:02:00

Yep Juan getting to see more tennis is always good grin positive thoughts and all that. (Disclaimer am feeling much more awake now after fresh air all day and a lot of lucozade) how's your dd getting on?
Djokovic looks in control in his match.
I really want tsonga to win too, and Stan I think, though dd has a crush on dogs.....

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 17:06:11

Oh bless I just watched the clip, how sweet is he?! Seriously though nice to see he has his priorities right.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 17:07:25

Ferrer is making a meal of it- as usualgrin but then he wouldn't be Ferrer is it was easy.

Poor Boris- he'll be hobbling around for a bit. Is he still coaching Djok- haven't seen/heard much from him.

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 17:08:27

oh FFS.

Put radio on this morning, expecting to hear the immortal Simon Bates (Smooth radio) and guess whos replaced him? PERMANENTLY?

only bloody Andrew Castle. angry.

he who loves the sound of his own voice and hardly played any songs.

boooooring. why the hell have they hired HIM? hes not a dj. SB IS!

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 17:14:46

I have jinxed Ferrersad

Zygons- complain. Loudly. ANDREW BLOODY CASTLEangry

he is awful.

didn't know Simon Bates was still on the radio grin

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 17:18:04

I did complain! told Smooth radio they've just lost a very loyal listener and they'll lose more when I tell all my friends (you lot here!!!!! the AC notfan club!!)

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 17:19:15

I might complain too- even though i don't listen. I'm sure there are others who can't stand him grin

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 17:22:59

Loving ferrers array of shirts! smile

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 18:08:39

Well, i gave dd2 a bath, and Ferrer got his act together, so I might avoid looking for a minute. grin

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 18:19:47

It's still with serve but ferrer is looking tired hmm a few spots of rain though so if there's a rain delay it might help him.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 18:28:02

ooh yes- a rain delay. That would help.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:05:12

Ferrer lostsad

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 19:05:39

Nishikori through on third set tiebreaker.

Mama, dd good thanks. Back to Bangkok tomorrow and then on to NZ. She sent me a pic earlier of her and her friend in the sea - looked absolutely beautiful. As did the two of them - figures to die for or what?

Zygons I heard Andrew too but didn't realise it was a permanent change? Looking on the bright side, maybe this will keep him away from tennis commentary?

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 19:08:25

Juan I thought he was just standing in for SB but noooooo.

switched my allegiance to 'magic' now!!!!

thing is his tennis commentary is once ina while, the radio is 5 days a week!!!!

and his voice is forever on the Andy murray match point at Wimbledon!

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 19:09:24

not jealous of your DD juan travelling the world envy !!

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 19:24:47

No me neither zygons. Not jealous of the blue skies, blue seas, heat, no cooking, lots of drinking and lots of laughs. Not jealous at all. Pah. Oh well, at least if I get a stomach bug I can be ill in my own toilet - got to be optimistic about these things smile

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:26:35

She must be having a great time juan, despite the earlier setbacks.

Shrieky has beaten Kvitova. Funny how the women, however good they are, so often lose sets 6-0hmm.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:28:08

Time for Stan and Dogs now.

Really need to tidy up.

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 19:39:04

Raah yet they still want the same prize money.

sorry, but the women just cant cut it as much as the men.

maybe Serena could JUST, and tbh there are a few of the men who appear a bit wimpy but you're right, too many bagels in the womens game (and Im not talking about the food!)too many injuries, not enough to go 5 sets at all.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:45:08

The equal prize money annoys me so much- especially when the men play best of 5. They may believe they are working just as hard- but there is no comparison between a 5 set match that can last hours- and a best of 3 that can be over in less than half an hour[hmm.

I always bring up the Isner/Mahut wimbledon epic- as the loser, Mahut will have received as much as a losing first round womens first rounder. Many of whom lost in way less than an hour. Absolutely barmy.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 19:45:47

Eewww, close-up of trainer bandaging of bollock's big toe!

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:48:00

Noooo- what's happened to his toe?

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 19:49:58

Dogs Bollocks leading 5-1 in first set. Stan has an Adam Ant stripe of sunblock across his nose.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:50:00

From the scoreline, he doesn't seem too hampered?

Tsonga didn't start so well.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:50:40

Is Stan's shirt ironed? (this is vital information, obvs)

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 19:51:11

Just a blister * Raahh*. He seemed to be enjoying the treatment - lots of smiling and I'm sure I heard him tell the physio "you're really into this!"

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:51:55

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 19:53:46

Stans clothes never look ironed do they? they look like they've come straight from his suitcase onto his body!

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 19:54:34

LOve the Djoker, hes got a brill sense of humour.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:55:26

It's a bit like when i put the dcs polo shirts on them, straight from the packet. And you can see the tell-tale foldsgrin

I bet Roger is anal about ironing. grin

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Mar-14 19:56:14

whwres the Djok match? sky are showing the Tsonga and the Stan matches on the red button?

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 19:59:41

The Djok match has finished hasn't it? He beat Robredo? Don't know about the red button, I'm just refreshing the screengrin

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:00:47

Stan been broken twice in this set. Looks like something is bothering him.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 20:03:42

Maybe he left a price tag in his shirt?

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 20:06:44

Boo hoo don't get sky (annoyingly you can't get Sky 3 on its own I don't think and that's the one that shows ATP). But hurrah Stan seems to have pulled it back.....have to watch WTA on BT sport in the meantime zzzzzz

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:06:56

First set to Dog's. Can you imagine learning to spell your name if your surname was Dogopolov or Wawrinka? Ds3 struggles still with his name and his first name has three letters and our surname has only four.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 20:17:40

Thing is though, Juan his name is DOLgopolov - but he must be pretty used to people messing up his name as a lot of places refer to him as the Doggrin

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:21:24

Oh yes Raahh, I knew as I wrote it that I had it wrong! Yes, Djok match over and I like him too. Stan looks ironed but it's like the iron has left scorch marks you know?

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:27:31

I love Stan's backhand smile

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:28:22

purple look into TennisTv. That's what I, and a few others, watch on.

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 20:35:07

Thanks Juanthanks Think I've seen it but how much does it cost? Can't be spending much money at present sad. Get Eurosport so can watch all the grand slams. Was also going to point out the misspelling of The Dolgo (that's why he's referred to on Twitter). Watched a clip earlier and the (American) commentator pronounced it DolgoPOLOV Sounded ridiculous!

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:37:48

Stan's making real hard work of this.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:39:53

You're welcome purple. It's very reasonable - cant remember exactly but something like £3 or £4 per month. I've taken out a year's sub cos it works out cheaper but you can just pay monthly if it suits you better.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:42:57

Stan just broken Dog, hopefully he's woken up now.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:44:33

Second set to Stan.

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 20:45:58

Errrr try £14.99 per month.....shame can't just get Sky 3 instead! C'mon Stan! Yay one set all!

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 20:47:51

Oh Tsonga sad

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 20:50:01

Glad she's having fun Juan, I would love to go to New Zealand again envy
Purple, I use tennis tv too, it's definitely cheaper if you take out a years subscription saves about a third I think.
Murray looks like he has this match now.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 20:54:37

Dog breaks in second game of third set.

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 20:54:51

Dolgopolov just broke Stan on the third.

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 20:54:52

Yes I've clocked that about the annual cost but have had rather a lot of car related expense recently caused by me driving into a concrete pillar I car park so might think about again in a few the meantime will have to rely on this thread and Twitter/FB etc. nice to find some other tennis fans to chat to though grin.....

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 20:59:53

Oh we can waffle about anything, purple - even when there's nothing ongrin

I rely on the ATP site for screo, and my trusty refreshing finger. (And inviting myself round to my mother's house, because she has everythinggrin).

Still haven't got over the fact I missed the first week of the Aussie open because i didn't realise it was on Sky 1 (which i do have) blush

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 21:00:57

Gosh is it really £14.99? Sorry. I don't know why I had it in my head it was under £5. No head for figures (unless they belong to male tennis players).

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 21:05:02

I hope you weren't hurt purple?
Fed v gasquet about to start- no prizes for guessing who I want to win grin

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 21:05:56

Ha ha Juan I'm with you on that although I'm afraid I'm in the Rafa camp with Raah. Luckily we get British Eurosport which has quite good coverage of the GSs and Davis Cup. Don't know what's going on with
Stan or is Dolog just playing too well?? Please tell.....

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 21:08:00

Thanks for asking just big excess to pay (including compulsory excess who knew?!) ....v annoying as just had car serviced and 3 yes 3 new tyres angry

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 21:08:15

Oh dear, looks like Stan will be heading home. 5-1 now.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 21:12:22

Dog wins. Def something bothering Stan though.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:13:11

Sad for Stan, but well done to Dogs. And his gammy toe grin

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 21:13:29

Glad to hear you weren't hurt purple, sorry it was so expensive though!
6-1 and dolgopolov wins my dd is very happy. Think he has been playing very well, he was last week too but Stan also looked a little distracted I think. Certainly in that last set.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 25-Mar-14 21:15:32

Raahh your newly awoken approval for Dogs is having a good effect on him smile

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:15:54

I'm team Fed for the Fed/Gas match- in the hopes of seeing more of Stefangrin

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:17:09

Juan- I know - come on Dogs!! Unless he plays Rafa- and then, sorry, Bollocks, but I have to stick to Nadal grin

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 21:23:24

Now I still love Rafa but I am getting annoyed by all the tics....try not to watch in between points but once you notice it's hard not to see every time. What do you think Raah?? hmm

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:31:41

I don't know- I tend to forgive him all his foibles, because he basically so good to watch when playing. I suppose it's just who is he is, to me.

I get why some people find it annoying- and players- but players (who themselves have tantrums to stall play/break rackets etc/mutter to themselves constantly) who moan about it- I find hypocritical.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:34:08

And it's not as if i don't like watching stroppy players- Gulbis is endlessly entertaining grin and I love Baghdatis- who must have broken hundreds of rackets in his time!

DramaAlpaca Tue 25-Mar-14 21:45:08

Hello! Can I join you on the tennis thread, please?

<<shuffles self-consciously onto court clutching an elderly tennis racquet>>

Long time lurker on the [tennis] threads here. Decided to join in now you have a new thread. Favourite player is Rafa, also Ferrer & del Potro (Potato, right?). Murray fan but only because he's British. Not at all fond of Federer or Djokovic.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:47:02

Well- Fed is not messing about either.
Stefan will be pleased.

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 21:48:21

Hello Drama !grin

We all manage to rub along nicely, despite our preferences. Apart from Juan and magi, who have both laid claim to Potato grin

DramaAlpaca Tue 25-Mar-14 21:55:25

Hi Raahh that's OK, I won't be fighting anyone for Potato grin

And I think Rafa is taken too? smile

Mama1980 Tue 25-Mar-14 21:56:47

Fed has just broken in the second.
Welcome drama, everyone's lovely here, (just don't get into the debate over who potato belongs too grin) I don't like federer either though my son is djokovic s biggest fan.
My youngest is finally asleep, so give it about 3 hours and she'll be awake again, just in time for the nadal match grin

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 21:59:18

Well if we're uploading photos how about this Raah.....currently showing in the Men's underwear section of a local dept store. Not taken by me BTW but the tennis correspondent of The Times who lives near me..... Enjoy! wink

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 22:01:33

<fans self>

nice picture grin

Maryz Tue 25-Mar-14 22:02:31

Hello everyone, I haven't watched much tennis recently, but I do like all your pictures.

I won't be adding to them just yet, though grin

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 22:03:33

Maryz- it's after the water shed, so your links will be fine wink

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 22:04:17

It's a good thing we are limited to 6 pictures though. grin

Maryz Tue 25-Mar-14 22:05:51

It's probably safer this way - you can only load the picture not the link, so you have to actually look at it.

Few mistakes, hopefully!

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 22:07:31

purpleprincess Tue 25-Mar-14 22:34:44

Night all. Enjoy watching Rafa envy....

Raahh Tue 25-Mar-14 22:39:41

I wish it wasn't on so late- I mean, it's even on late over there. sad

Vamos Rafagrin

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 07:57:04

Morning all. No real surprises overnight then. I'm still sure something's up with Stan.

Glad that it seems to be commonly acknowledged that Pot is MINE smile. Magi has publicly acknowledged lustful thoughts for other men so she's no longer a contender in the Pot wars.

purpleprincess Wed 26-Mar-14 08:20:22

I know I shouldn't as to to get ready for work...but thught I'd liven up yr morning with this photo of the rather lovely (in the flesh) Tomas Berdych who I saw signing autographs at Wimbldeon last year. He's also v amusing on Twitter....enjoy?

magimedi Wed 26-Mar-14 09:20:13

I will have as many men as I want!!

And never forget - safety in numbers!

Mama1980 Wed 26-Mar-14 09:50:53

Morning all, nadal looked great again grin didn't seem at all ruffled by the delay.
Drs meeting today for baby girl, I'm plucking up courage for the mammoth task of getting everyone out the door in some sort of order :-)

DramaAlpaca Wed 26-Mar-14 10:09:30

Morning all!

Nadal was in great form last night. I recorded it & watched the highlights over breakfast this morning. Watching him strip off his shirt at the end gave me a nice little lift before work.

Fognini - there's a player I really don't like. Sorry to any Foggy fans on here grin

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 10:57:16

I was up on the middle of the night checking the website for the scores saddo I'm glad Nadal is having an easy-ish time of it.

The Pot Wars
sounds either drugs related, or a fight over an Emma Bridgewater 'Toast' plate grin

I'm pleased Dogs did well- I don't have lustful thoughts over him- his eyes are too close together and his hair is a bit greasy looking grin but his does have a nice smile. I will need a younger lust candidate, though, for when Nadal hangs up his racket. grin.

ordr of play

The Djok/Murray match could be interesting- difficult to call, Murray clearly likes Miami, but I think Djok is the more consistent player.

Be nice to see Fed progress too. He's only played Nishikori twice- and it's one apiece, but N's win came on clay, and was last year when Roger wasn't exactly at his best.

LetZygonsbeZygons Wed 26-Mar-14 16:47:24

Rafa and mens underwear.

an oxymoron?

if hes sponsored by underwear then why doesn't he bloody wear underwear that doesn't give him wedgys?????grin

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 17:32:46

grinMaybe it's in the contract, that he has to keep drawing attention to his undies and his bum.

I used to like it when Rafa wore the sleeveless tops that showed off his biceps.grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 19:48:44

Argh. Logged out of MN and couldn't get back in again.

Think I've now managed to get the live scoreboard to work again so can get back to keeping up with the tennis.

Welcome to all the new posters on thread.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 20:40:28

Hope your appointment went well for Dd Mama.

The TennisTv commentators have seen sense and adopted my approach to momentary, namely rambling on about irrelevances - anyone hear the discourse on Iron Maiden?! And does anyone else's feed go into a repetitive loop sometimes?

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:05:07

Djok just served two double faults in one game. And, I've not noticed before, but Andy does his fair share of crotch grabbing and pants adjusting. So there.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:07:48

Juan- he does -a lot of them do. For somereason, it's only Rafa gets stick for it. But I'm not drawn to Murray's crotch <eww> the way I am drawn to Rafa's wink

Come on, Nole! As they say in Serbia....

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:08:24

Oh. Just some controversy about whether Djok played a foul shot ( racquet over net) but missed it cos ds3 decided to come in for the fifth time since he's been sent to bed.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:08:51

First set to Djok.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:10:01

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:10:38

Andy having a go at umpire now in changeover. From what I can gather Djok agreed his racquet was over the net but the umpire is claiming that's ok.

purpleprincess Wed 26-Mar-14 21:19:18

Raah. I think you mean "Idemo!' (Serbian equivalent of Vamos!). Just sayin' biscuit

Mama1980 Wed 26-Mar-14 21:19:48

She's doing great thanks Juan though predictably howled the second I put her down to be examined, great for attachment not so great for the ears! smile

Yep djokovic definitely agreed with Murray and said he felt his racquet was over the net but the umpire said not....
Think the commentator is right though when he says it's definitely taken the edge off the match, at least at the moment.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:24:21

purple thanks !grin

we need a list - so we can encourage all the players. I like to be inclusive. I learnt how to say it Polish last year- but I've forgotten blush.

See, we don't just do tennis, we do languages too. Cultured, we are. [tennis]

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:28:11

That's good mama (the "doing great bit", not the howling bit) smile

Andy's just had a game where he served two doubles now.

purpleprincess Wed 26-Mar-14 21:28:24

I only know cos another Serbian player used to say it on twitter all the time (Janko Tipsaravic if you're interested). I can tell you that in French it is 'Allez' (courtesy of Stan). Bet you didn't know that!

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:30:46

Murray just broken.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:31:58

Yuck. Commentator referring to Murray's "silky hand skills".

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:33:32

Eww. wtf are 'silky hand skills'

On second thoughts, don't tell megrin

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:36:16

Well Djok just broken back, helped by Andy who served two doubles again.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 21:36:20

I do not want to know.

I think we learnt it in German as well. I can't remember what that was either.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:36:58

You're too young Raahh to be thinking about silky hand skills.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:40:07

You learnt silky hand skills in German Clay? smile

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:40:57

German Silky hand skills?? Is it Boris? grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 21:43:47

No. grin

The equivalent of Vamos/Allez.

three's very quiet these days perhaps she's practising her German silky hand skills, wink

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:43:48

Commentators spending an inordinate amount of time talking about Adriana Lima or whatever her name is. So if you don't even have to talk about tennis o commentate then the job's mine.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:44:55

oh yes- three will be helping Boris recover from hip surgery, with her silky hands. grin

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 21:45:27

Oi oi, saveloy !

Rafa belongs to meeee !

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 26-Mar-14 21:45:42

Djok wins. smile

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 21:47:09

<pushes Mrs V off the thread with silky hands >

yay!! Murray lost. No. i mean - yay! Djok won. grin

You know what I meangrin

Hello MrsV grin

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 21:50:25

Silky hands is something I imagine George Osbourne or Dickhead Cameron having.

I am shuddering and have a cats bum mouth at the very idea. Urgh.

Hello, my gawgus Raahh. Mwah.

on mobile so alopogies for crap writing.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 21:52:37

Sod this for a laugh.

Gimme 5 mins and I'll be back.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 21:56:51

envy thinking about Osbourne and Cameron and silky hands. And that is not an envy emoticon.

Yes, Raahh we know what you actually mean grin.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:02:22

Nooo, Rafa.

Is a BLEURGH emoticon. We need a sicky one.

I am on faithful ol laptop now, so I can type nonsense properly.

Did I see that Murray lost ? Didn't really expect him to win, did we ? wink

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:04:57

I'm knew you would be thinking the same.

Now, the way is clear for world domination for Rafa. or at least the Miami title.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 22:06:05

Yes lost 7-5, 6-3. He was never going to win that match.

The brilliantly named Jack Sock has won in the doubles though.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:08:36

*The Brilliantly Named Jack Sock*- if i ever buy a show dog, or a race horse, that will be his name grin

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:10:40

Shame. <coughs>

What a fab name.

Not sure Rafa can do world ? But def. RG again. VAMOS

I luffs him to pieces, you know I do, and would love it if he would prove me wrong. Think RG and Wimby could be very tense this year.

He's my mate, so I'll always back him.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:11:10

Jack Sack would have been better. [grins]

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:11:37

Shite, shows how long I've been away.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 22:13:44

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 22:14:21

Worth a try. We will get it back. Or there will be trouble.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:15:34

I really hope Rafa can defend all the stuff he needs to do this this year (which is obviously quite a lot). Another title at RG would be great. Another Wimbledon title would be fantastic- I do think it is in him, he just needs to believe grin. So long as I don't have to sit through a semi final like the RG semi- which was painful. I did feel sorry for Ferrer in the final though. I love Ferrer. he's like a little terrier after a bone.

And I have my new best friend Dogbollocks, to support too. Which is nice.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:15:34

Shall I do a thread in SS ?

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:18:23

You can try, MrsV- people got quite nasty when we got it back for The US open though.

But we have cake, and a bloody pom bear ffs. And we have talked tennis drivel on these threads for ages.

We have earned our balls, dammit.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:18:56

I think as long as he is well and feels, and believes like you say, my lovely, he can do it. All.

Ferrer never stood a chance. I felt sorry for him too, he's a brilliant player, come good 5 years too late really.

I am watching DB and Stan with interest. And a couple of the younger pups.

I do wonder who will fill Roger and Rafa's gap when the time comes.

We have been spoiled. Even though Rafa looks like a capybara facially, he is a dream to watch playing, same as Roger.

magimedi Wed 26-Mar-14 22:19:16

YES - thread in SS asking for balls!

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:19:26

And it is also quite useful, instead of typing 'bollocks' to have the balls back. grin

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:20:22

People got nasty ? WTF ? Life is too short.

Was there a suitable emoticon for the Winter Plympics ?

I want BALLS

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:21:02

OK. I'll do a thread. Give me a minute.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:21:26

I am backing Roger to have a good year. Because my husband Stefan is a good influence.

I think we are in for a good year- but possibly the last where the well know 'big four' will dominate.

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 22:23:35

No-one bothered asking for an Olympics emoticon. Footy fans, golf fans and others said it wasn't fair. that we had a tennis one. Not that they had ever asked for a ball. We asked for YEARS . Of course, once Murray lost it in the US, it went pfft <not quite, but it felt like it.>

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:30:06

I know, Raahh. I feel bereft just thinking about it. I do wonder if Roger is trying to go out with a bang ?

Blardy emoticons. We should have them automatically for special events, and, for all sports. Why not ?

I suppose it could be argued that we have the picture option. I can see how that will go.

I'll get pissed, or excited, and post my picture quota, then get the hump cos I can't post anymore.

Not good.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 22:30:29

I think you might be right Raahh. I said during Wimbledon when Roger/Rafa went out during that first week that it felt like the end of an era. We've been quite lucky to have got another year out of it. But as much as I would like it to it isn't going to go on forever.

Hopefully another great rivalry will come up soon and it doesn't end up in the same state that the women's game is in at the moment.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:31:04

I don't think Murray will reclaim his Wimby title.

Wouldn't mind a bet on Roger for that.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:32:54

I think you must be my "sista from annuver mista" Raahh.

You so often say exactly what I'm thinking !

(That is, of course unless my Biological 'Dad' isn't actually your Dad !)

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:33:56

Does that make sense ? I am so excited to have finally gotten on here after being awol for a while, I know I'm waffling worse than usual.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 22:36:47

I've just cross posted with you on the SS thread MrsV.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:37:50

I know, my dahling !

Mwah !

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:38:31

I thought it might help if it didn't look like a tennis thread. wink

We'll see.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 26-Mar-14 22:40:04

Good thinking. You seem to have attracted a non-tennis watching supporter that way.

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:46:26

I know, a couple ! Most surprising here from what I have seen recently.

Just goes to show that when it comes it it, MN is full of LOVELY people.

magimedi Wed 26-Mar-14 22:46:40

Or even two!

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:47:06

Comes *to it.

Twit, spring to mind ?

Crikey. My typing is shot. blush

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:47:46

Awww, I have really missed you lovely lot.

magimedi Wed 26-Mar-14 22:53:55

Oi! Pesky!

Stop sulking over lame, limp wristed Pot & come back & demand balls!!

<rushes off to name change & bed!>

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 22:58:36

Well. At least the bunny has the BALLS rolling. wink grin

DramaAlpaca Wed 26-Mar-14 23:01:12

I didn't think Murray was going to win that match sad. He let Djok's net shot distract him.

Hope we get our [tennis] balls back in time for Roland Garros in May.

Over on the cycling thread we are thinking of asking for an emoticon for the Tour de France. A yellow jersey, maybe smile

Raahh Wed 26-Mar-14 23:05:40

A yellow jersey would be very cool .

<goes to bed>

MrsVamos Wed 26-Mar-14 23:13:30

Bed for me too.

We will continue our campaigning tomorrow.

I will fully support other SS emoticon threads.

Night, lovelies xxx

Mama1980 Thu 27-Mar-14 02:04:01

4-1 fed, nishikori is asleep! smile

Mama1980 Thu 27-Mar-14 07:08:12

He woke up! grin

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 07:55:24

End of the road for Federer. No more sightings of Stefansad

Rafa playing Raonic today, and Dogs playing Berdych. So I'm hoping they are straightforward matches.

My sickly car is being taken to be fixed today. I am praying it is nothing, otherwise I may have to sell the children to pay for the repairs. Apparently, that isn't legal, so I'm going to have to think of other options.

And my mother is collecting dd2 from Nursery at lunch time. I have 4 hours to make my house look 'mother visit' ready grin

I'm 42, ffs!

Mama1980 Thu 27-Mar-14 16:56:25

How's the car Raahh? Not too sick I hope.
Haha yep I used to do that when my mum came to visit then one day she came by and not only didn't notice that I'd dyed my hair blue but not even that I'd bought a piano- I don't bother these days! grin

magimedi Thu 27-Mar-14 17:25:05

Does anyone have a poster of Matts Wilander (in his prime)?

Not for me ( I have better different taste) but to get our balls back!

Bribery is the way with MNHQ! grin

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 18:04:40

That Rowan is a sneaky one.

(I always thought Rowan was a he blush)

My Swede of choice has always been Edberg, though. grin

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 18:11:16

My mother despairs of my house. She is very house proud. I hate cleaning, and do the bare minimumgrin I blame dh - i wasn't so bad, before i met him. (and had 3 kids).
My car is fixed, but still cost twice what we were hoping, so it is a sad day, Chez Raahh. sad

Dogs and Rafa both in action tonight. [tennis]

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 18:34:28

Not so much my mum but my dad is absolutely anal in terms of cleanliness and tidiness. When they divorced I stayed with him and so inherited some of his tendencies. However, dh and four dc soon knocked that nonsense out of me and house is now, lets just say, lived in smile

Muddled, Im not sulking, I'm in proper full on decline. And you would be too if you really loved him. And, how dare you call him lame and limp wristed. I am offended on his behalf and you are no better than you ought to be. Hmmpphh.

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 18:36:59

While on the subject of parents in the house....I have recently started new job and my parents are picking up dd once week and bringing her back to our house when I'm not there. Yesterday within less than 5 mins of getting home my dad told me 1) we needed toilet brush in downstairs loo blush 2) we shouldn't leave key in back door when out hmm. Need I say more Raah you are not alone I'm nearly 47 FFS

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 18:37:14

Forgot to say - its my wedding anniversary today. Dh appears to have forgotten. However, he may be thinking the same of me as I haven't yet said anything - cos I want to see if he remembers! Tricky one.

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 18:40:46

Juan- happy anniversary! It's mine on Monday. Only 7 years, though. We don't 'do' anniversaries really. Plus he's at work.

We have promised that one day we will have a child-free night out grin

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 18:41:41

purple i feel your paingrin

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 19:13:26

Well happy anniversary for Monday Raahh. Your child free night will come! Dd has just sent me a pic of Jennifer Lopez followed by a message saying "Jennifer Lopez, 44yrs". Not sure what she's trying to tell me here!

Who do we think will win in Dogs Bollocks v Birdshit? I think Bird but would like Dog.

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 19:20:25

Dog breaks in first game.

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 19:24:24

Bird breaks straight back.

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 19:30:35

I'm going to donate some money to the ATP so they can buy proper parasols and not make some poor ball boy stand two inches away from a player whilst poking a brolly in their face.

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 19:38:51

I'm passing a law which makes it illegal, with immediate effect, for commentators to say "over cooking", " business end of the set" and "goldfish mentality". Please feel free to add to the list.

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 19:57:09

I don't know why they don't have some sort of gazebo over the players- or one of those swinging garden chairs, with a canopy. That would keep the sun off nicely, and rest their legs.

C'mon Dogs!

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 27-Mar-14 20:00:15

Rain delay : (. Yes one of those swinging bench things would be good, nice and relaxing. Or a sun lounger even? smile

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 20:08:01

ooh yes, a sun lounger. Easier to massage them, that way. And a cocktail, none of this barley water nonsense. They need looking aftergrin

I thought there must be a problem when the scores stopped refreshinggrin

I have been trying to find a picture of Dogs with his hair down. He's had his hair all braided at one point.

I found this from last year.

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 20:26:29

No! Dogs appears to be losing the set....

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 20:28:00

No Raah that's picture is just wrong! He should stick with the ponytail IMHO....BTW folks don't call Berdych 'birdshit'. I think he's cute. Not that exciting to watch though...Bird or Birdman is ok. I'll allow that.

thanks. Is it still raining?

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 20:30:14

I usually stick with with Berdy. I find him a bit dull.

The picture is very bad!

Noooo! Dogs has lost the set. I need to send good hair vibes. grin

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 20:39:07

it's really not going well.

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 20:40:44

He is a bit dull on court I admit but on twitter he's v crazy and often has a tweet off with @PseudoFed who is also hilarious.....Berdy also v nice looking in the flesh. Much slimmer (see pic I posted earlier in the week)

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 21:15:59

I guess everyone's off watching this great tennis match envy tie break time now bet its really exciting sad. Oh well I've had brew and a kit kat so there....

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 21:16:41

Dogs has thrown away a chance here.

C'mon Dogs.

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 21:17:15

I'm refreshing my scores screen, purple

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 21:17:46

I have no chocolatesad

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 21:21:22

All over I'm following on my iPhone app....missed his chance (Dolgo)

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 21:23:01

But good for The Bird! smile. Sorry for all you dog fans sad

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 21:23:10

Poor Dogsbollocks.

He's still my one to watch this year.

I won't be awake to 'refresh' my screens for nadal.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Thu 27-Mar-14 21:27:11

I'm hoping I'm not going to be awake to refresh the scores.

Didn't we not like Dogsbollocks for some reason last year? Or have I got him confused with someone else?

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 21:27:34

Neither will I. Will just have to dream that he wins....wink. And I'll look forward to Roland Garros as will actually get to watch some of that one!

DramaAlpaca Thu 27-Mar-14 21:47:38

I'd agree that Dogs is an up & coming player for this year. I haven't decided whether I like him or not, tbh.

Berdych isn't the most exciting of players, but does seem like a nice guy.

Happy anniversary Juan & I hope you have a lovely evening.

Vamos indeed to Rafa later. I'm going to try & stay up for the match.

purpleprincess Thu 27-Mar-14 21:49:49
Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 22:28:59

Drama I have only recently warmed to Dogs - and he does seem to be getting somewhere. He wasn't really on my radar until a few months ago as contender. And he has a lovely smilegrin

Raahh Thu 27-Mar-14 22:32:26

Rafa- I didn't like Dogs because he played a couple of players I liked, and won, and there was an incident with a water bottle.

BUT recent tournaments, personally, I've really warmed to him. He has great potential. And a lovely smile eyes too close together though

And I don't even fancy him- I just like his game gringrin

Mama1980 Thu 27-Mar-14 22:44:43

Happy anniversary Juan thanks
Sorry the car wasn't good news Raahh.
Am also warming to dogs, loving his habit of hand gesturing and talking to himself in between points, wanted him to win.
Have nothing against berdych other than his game is dull and he never seems interesting in interviews.
Looking forward to the rafa match smile

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Thu 27-Mar-14 22:46:23

Yes the water bottle at Wimbledon, now I remember. Thank's Raahh.

Just trying to remember who the other one was now. Janowicz I think. Something to do with a incident with the roof grin

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 08:09:10

Oh Dogs lost. Really can't take to Bird, find him stroppy, ungracious and boring. Fell asleep before Raonic v Nadal. Thanks for anniversary wishes.

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 08:10:02

What happened with the water bottle?

Mama1980 Fri 28-Mar-14 10:08:13

Rafa through so all good. Looking forward to the semis.
Did he remember Juan? Or did you both just say nothing smile

DramaAlpaca Fri 28-Mar-14 11:25:46

I watched the first two sets of Nadal/Raonic, which is probably why I'm falling asleep at my desk this morning smile

I recorded the rest, so caught up quickly over breakfast. It was a good match. Raonic threw everything he had at Rafa but it still wasn't enough. He will be happy he took a set off him for the first time I suppose.

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 11:29:33

Juan- part way through a match during Wimbledon, (he was playing Ferrer, so I was obviously not wanting him to win) he sent some water up to his dad to put 'salt' in it wink (I'm sure it was only salt)- because he had cramp. it seemed like such a bizarre thing not to have his drinks ready prepared. And it felt like he was stalling. So it put me off him. And he was beating one of my favourite players, brieflygrin

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 11:31:58

Onwards to today- I don't think Djok will have any problems with Nishikori, but i could be wrong.

Obviously I hope Rafa wins against Berdych- setting up a nice Djok/Rafa final .

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 11:43:12

mama he kind of broached the subject at 9ish last night. He claimed to have been doing the same as me, ie not saying anything to see if I'd remembered! It doesn't matter really though, we don't go for anniversaries in a big way.

*Raahh, oh yes, I remember now, thanks. That picture with the hair? Do you reckon his hair is that long now? It doesn't look it.

I reckon you're right about Djok v Nishikori. I had the bad luck to catch Andrew Castle on the radio again this morning - he is so unbelievably wooden.

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 28-Mar-14 16:46:40

the mix up with Dolgopolov is with the other guy with a similar name, ive gone blank on his name now, hes like Gulbis/macenroe/tarango in character. he walked off court once during a match?

yep, told you Juan about the bore that is Andrew Castle!

we should petition!

Purple Berdych fan here too! my teddy bears called Beardych!

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 16:55:22
LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 28-Mar-14 16:58:43

Alex BOGOMOLOV jr. that's the one! I used to get the 2 mixed up!

Dogs reminds me a bit of Lleyton Hewitt with a girly face!

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 18:16:36

Nishikori withdrew?

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 18:17:34

Oh, left groin injury apparently.

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 18:27:24

Nishikori withdrew?

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 18:28:40

awww grin

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 28-Mar-14 19:16:29

Raah id still prefer to cuddle the real Berdych tho!!

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 19:24:08

Grrrrr -jammy Djok and his w/o to the final.

MrsVamos Fri 28-Mar-14 21:07:37

WTF ? How come Dickdjok got a w/o ?

Well. Let's face it. He'll need the rest to try to beat Rafa. grin

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 21:14:52

Nishikori withdrew injured. angry

MrsVamos Fri 28-Mar-14 21:24:22

Hello Raahh

Did you see, on the BALLS thread. We get BALLS for RG and Wimby ! Not perfect but pretty good.

I have cleared my diary no plans anyway for June and July ! grin

I assume I will have your company ?

DramaAlpaca Fri 28-Mar-14 21:25:09

We've got our [balls] back grin

MrsVamos Fri 28-Mar-14 21:32:49

I LOVE your name !

I would like an Alpaca but my garden isn't big enough. sad

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 21:43:14

MrsV Oh definitely- I will be sat here as much as the school runs will allow.

I'm looking forward to it- although it all seems to have come around really quickly this year.
That's a sigh I'm getting older, isn't itgrin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Fri 28-Mar-14 21:48:23

I think it might be this thread, Raahh. I don't think the Wimbledon thread usually carries on for a year so it seems to have made it come around much quicker.

Hopefully, we'll be able to get through Wimbledon without anyone coming on to start a fight about Murray this year. Magi and Juan will be the only people fighting.

MrsVamos Fri 28-Mar-14 21:51:24

I've told you before, Raahh, you should HE.

No school runs then ! wink

Gawd, tell me about time moving fast. I'm 38 this year.

I HATE people telling me I'm nearly 40.

There's no way I can be that age. No way.

MrsVamos Fri 28-Mar-14 21:52:57

The Wimby thread might not have carried on for a year before, but they can easily reach maximum posts before a day is out.

Some of those threads have been blardy brilliant !

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 22:02:02

I've become very adept at using multi media since discovering MN tennis threads - watch tennis on laptop or tv and simultaneously post on MN on ipad. Makes it all so much more fun having someone to watch with who 'gets it' like you do.

Clay - I wouldn't be fighting if only muddled would be reasonable and admit Pot is mine smile. Anyway, she called him "lame wristed" - she's out of the running!

Trying to stay awake for Nadal, not sure if I'm going to make it though.

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 22:04:57

I'm 42. That is just wrong. grin

I hope there are no spats this year- it's usually pretty chilled. But we usually get the odd ones. It's one of the reasons I really enjoyed RG last year- with Murray not playing, there was no expectation of having to support him.

magimedi Fri 28-Mar-14 22:26:13

She (who is not the cat's mother) called hm LIMP wristed! (not lame)

Magi and Juan will be the only people fighting.

Only we won't - 'cos Pot won't be there!

So all will be calm & collected, with mature posters.

Only you won't get me posting during a match - I just could not cope with that, I get so bound up in it & give 100% to watching, rather than annoying Pesky!!!! grin

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 22:28:35

For goodness sake woman, why don't you just move in with me and save your typing finger?

Have there been spats Raahh? You mean about Andy?

magimedi Fri 28-Mar-14 22:35:16

PM me your address & I just might!

Especially if D (sort of D ) H snores like he did last night!

I can bring fish - am off to 'Astings tomorrow at sparrows fart to get catch of the day wink

(Five whole plaice for £5 - worth getting up for, my fave fish)

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 22:43:16

Juan- the whole 'no-one likes him because he's Scottish' thing always crops up. Personally, I've never supported a player based on their nationality.
just their bums

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 22:44:45

Pity they didn't get the Nadal match on earlier, when Nishikori pulled out.

I'm tired.

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 23:21:51

Berdych has pulled out with gastro problems- Rafa through to the final!

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 23:24:51

I just saw this - after I stayed up too. How inconsiderate. smile

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 28-Mar-14 23:27:09

I thought that's how you were meant to find players to support Raahh. Have I been doing it wrong all this time?

Muddled - you're not going to eat five plaice all by yourself are you? And I would invite you to move in but I too snore (according to dh).

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Fri 28-Mar-14 23:39:42

Well that has to be the most disappointing set of semi finals ever. Hope anybody who had tickets got their money back.

We managed to get through about 8 or 9 Wimbledon threads last year with everyone liking/not liking different players and no one falling out or having a spat over it and then it all went a bit wrong with that Janowiz/Murray match.

Raahh Fri 28-Mar-14 23:50:42

Well, as someone who was only refreshing scores on a screen- it was a disappointingly dull SF. grin

Yes, I'd be really annoyed if i had tickets. Can you imagine if that happened at Wimbledon. There would be bloodshed grin

Anyway, i can no go to bed, knowing I'm not missing out on anything- which is nice.

I am looking forward to Monte Carlo, and matches being in a better time zone!

DramaAlpaca Fri 28-Mar-14 23:51:11

MrsVamos I like your name too grin

You all seem to be young things - I'm <<cough>> 50 in June sad

In fact, Rafa Nadal & I actually share a birthday! That, of course, is the reason I'm a fan nothing to do with his physique, no, not at all

Back to the tennis - at least both Rafa & Djok will have had the same amount of rest before the final, so it should be a fair fight. I feel very sorry to those who had tickets for the semis. I don't think I've ever heard of that happening in all my many years of following tennis.

magimedi Sat 29-Mar-14 11:17:33

You, Drama are just a chicken! I will be 59 in July!

Sorry for Berdych but I do wonder how much it will benefit Rafa. I would imagine he was all prepared mentally & physically for the match & then for it to be cancelled must leave him in a bit of a strange place.

JuanPotatoTwo Sat 29-Mar-14 15:44:00

Drama I'm not far at all behind you age wise smile. We're both miles behind that geriatric muddled smile. How did your fishing expedition go muddled.

I have received some mystery flowers today. Don't know if they're meant for tomorrow or for the wedding anniversary on Thursday but so far no one has owned up to knowing anything.

Hope everyone is enjoying the lovely weather.

magimedi Sat 29-Mar-14 17:30:06

I see that Djoko got a walkover as well - so all's fair!

Vamos Rafa - I certainly prefer him to Djoko.

Fishing went fine - 5 fresh whole (gutted, thank heavens) plaice for £5 is a great deal. They aren't huge so we'll each have one tonight & I'll freeze the remaining 3. Plaice is one of my favourite fish.

Raahh Sat 29-Mar-14 23:47:06

well, Serena ended up beating Li Na pretty easily. And they are both 32- positively ancient in tennis terms, once upon a time. [tennis]grin
But like Djok and Rafa, they are ranked 1 and 2. yet I can't imagine Rafa beating Djok so easily ( I want him to, obviously) grin

Raahh Sun 30-Mar-14 17:23:42

<humph> I thought the final would start at 6.30- i forgot about our clocks change, which means Miami is now 5 hours difference instead of 4. angry

Although i very nearly forgot about the clocks altogether :-}

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 19:38:43

I don't think it's that it starts at 2.30 in Miami, which would still be 5 hrs. I think their clocks must change to.

I'm limbering up. Refreshing finger is poised and ready to go.

Raahh Sun 30-Mar-14 19:58:29

well. even though i really want to 'watch' I have been feeling quite rubbish all day. I've been feeling quite dizzy so think I will take myself to bed (with my phone) grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 19:59:23

Hope you are feeling better soon. Going with serve so far.

Mama1980 Sun 30-Mar-14 20:14:51

Raahh hope your feeling better soon
5-2 djokovic hmm some amazing play from both though.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 20:15:56

Vamos Rafa

Raahh Sun 30-Mar-14 20:20:51

Oh bollocks. vamos rafa

Mama1980 Sun 30-Mar-14 20:23:53

First set djokovic- crap hmm
Vamos rafa!

Mama1980 Sun 30-Mar-14 20:31:41

Djokovic already a break up in the second. Not looking good for rafa but ds1 is thrilled!

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 20:38:48

This isn't going the way I wanted. The football was bad enough, I wanted good news from the tennis.

Raahh Sun 30-Mar-14 20:39:26

What was I saying about the top men not losing to each as badly as the women? I have jinxed rafa .sad

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 30-Mar-14 20:40:57

Am I the only one rooting for Djok? Rafa looks like he's got the bit between his teeth now so let's see what happens.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 20:52:39

Yes, it's all your fault, Raahh, wink

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 20:59:58

Has the match stopped or has the live score site crashed? It seems to be stuck on 6-3, 2-1 and a match time of 0:56:14.

What's going on?

Mama1980 Sun 30-Mar-14 21:03:24

Totally your fault raahh winkgrin
No play still going 5-3 djokovic with a break.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 30-Mar-14 21:19:24

The site has died then. I'm still on 2-1 in the second.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 30-Mar-14 21:23:21

Djok wins 6-3 in the second.

LetZygonsbeZygons Mon 31-Mar-14 17:10:43

yay Djoko!

Im of the Murray and Djoko camp, not the Rafa one so......spats ahoy!!!grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Mon 31-Mar-14 21:51:51

I'm in the Murray/Rafa/Fed camp.

Hopefully, Rafa will put up a bit more of a fight once we're back on clay again.

JuanPotatoTwo Tue 01-Apr-14 21:21:16

Did anyone see the "Andy hires Sampras as Coach" thing? I fell for it - was muttering about how Andy'd said he was going to take his time finding a new coach, and here we were, barely two weeks later etc etc. And then, fortunately before I came rushing on here to discuss and express outrage, I twigged! smile

Raahh Tue 01-Apr-14 21:25:14

grin thank goodness for that- 2 players I son't like invilced together would have been dreadful. grin

Raahh Tue 01-Apr-14 21:25:51

involved- seriously, since being ill, my typing has gone south.

Raahh Tue 01-Apr-14 21:28:00

And I'm in the RAFA/Ferrer/Potato/Dogsbollock camp (new entry) -capitals intentional. grin

Also really like Stan, still have a soft spot for Hewitt, and Djok/and Federer are growing on megrin

Raahh Tue 01-Apr-14 21:29:12

And Cilic, I'm quite fond of Cilic.

But really, it's RAFA all the way.

DramaAlpaca Tue 01-Apr-14 23:02:50

I wonder who Murray's new coach is really going to be? Announcement tomorrow, so I've heard. Most bets seem to be on Mats Wilander and Darren Cahill, who used to coach Andre Agassi. Unless, of course, that's an April Fool as well. If so, I've been well & truly had grin

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 02-Apr-14 09:56:29

Ferrer's birthday today Raahh, best you send him birthday wishes smile. Are you feeling better?

I think that was an April Fool too Drama.

Raahh Wed 02-Apr-14 13:06:04

oooh- Happy Birthday, David!

Juan - I'm feeling a bit better, thanks- but totally knackered. I have also been swigging gaviscon- I have only ever had heartburn when pregnant. (which I am not grin)I'm not sleeping very well though, so just feel a bit washed out. The dcs have been really good, and dh has tweaked all his work hours to do various pick ups and drop offs- which they don't mind because he did 2 extra days last week.

I need to be ok- school holidays start Friday - can't face it if I'm under the weather!

2 weeks asleep woud be nice!

DramaAlpaca Wed 02-Apr-14 14:53:36

Yep, it was an April Fool. I've been had grin blush

Happy birthday David Ferrer & hope you'll feel better soon, Raahh.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 02-Apr-14 15:23:10

Raahh - nothing worse than feeling under the weather when you can't hide under the duvet. Hopefully, you can have a quiet week and recuperate for the hols. Your dh sounds ace. I can't remember if I've said this on here before but my ds1, who was a very sensible eater anyway, started to suffer badly from heartburn from the age of about 16. He used to go through Gaviscon like nobody's business - and it's not exactly cheap. He ended up on some prescription medication which he really didn't want to take as it was strong stuff. Anyway (there is a point to me divulging ds's medical history, promise!) since he's a Djok fan, I bought him Djok's book for Xmas. After reading it, he decided he had nothing to lose so gave up gluten - and hey presto - after about ten to fourteen days - no more indigestion/heartburn. He does struggle a bit being a poor student, but by and large, he's stayed off it and feels a whole heap better.

Raahh Wed 02-Apr-14 19:15:40

Juan- that's amazing! I'm wondering if mine was triggered by taking migraleve, it's one of the side effects- and it's years since I last took it. I don't usually take it, but the headache part of the migraine seemed different.

This afternoon I feel much better. So, I should be ok by the weekend.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 02-Apr-14 19:49:47

If you're swigging gaviscon, I'd go to the GP and get some omeprazole. I get a short course a couple of times a year, then it keeps it away completely for a while.

Raahh Wed 02-Apr-14 20:18:06

Thanks Rafa- I'm due an appointment next week, so I will mention it then.

JuanPotatoTwo Thu 03-Apr-14 15:32:24

Hi, I don't like there being no tennis on sad. Andy supposedly suffering from gastroenteritis so not attending his press commitments today.

Mama1980 Fri 04-Apr-14 11:10:39

Me neither but Davis cup on today Juan- we are saved! grin

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 04-Apr-14 11:29:41

Are they showing DavisvCup anywhere does anyone know? It's not on TennisTv.

Mama1980 Fri 04-Apr-14 12:06:48

It's on Eurosport and will be on bbc2 later (only GB matches) but the GB v Italy match has been rain delayed due to start on court at about 12.30 according to Eurosport they are just running replays at the moment.

Mama1980 Fri 04-Apr-14 14:30:48

1 set a piece between fognini and ward, ward is playing great smile

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 04-Apr-14 14:58:38

Thanks Mama, watching it in bbc2 now.

hugoagogo Fri 04-Apr-14 18:09:07

I love murray and his vest. smile

Mama1980 Fri 04-Apr-14 18:18:32

Well ward lost but at least he made a fight of it.
Let's hope Murray can win, though they just said it won't finish tonight.

magimedi Fri 04-Apr-14 20:20:28

Gawd- Murray really pisses me off when he goes into the muttering & munting mode.

Has no one ever told him to go & see a sports phsycologist?

DH was (jokingly ?) saying that maybe Johnnie Mac would be the best coach for him!!!!!!!!!

The state of the courts in Naples is another thing - I am amazed that there were not more complaints!

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 04-Apr-14 21:25:18

Andy does himself no favours sometimes. I think his on-court muttering and mumbling etc was something Lendl worked on with him, and he does seem better these days. Be interesting to see if the bad habits creep up on him again now. Bit shocking that Stan lost his match.

magimedi Fri 04-Apr-14 22:18:55

Didn't see Stan's match, but was also a bit amazed at his loss.

If Andy were my son he'd be sent to bed with no dinner!!

Such immature behaviour.

Was mummy Judy there?

Raahh Fri 04-Apr-14 22:24:21

Don't let me rant about Murray's poor attitude. Because I will, you knowgrin. grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Fri 04-Apr-14 22:28:18

Go on, you know you want to.

Raahh Fri 04-Apr-14 22:58:31

No- i didn't see what set him off today- so i will wait to see what he does next...because it won't be the only time. grin

He's probably armed with a lot of rackets grin

magimedi Sat 05-Apr-14 08:34:56

The Murray/Seppi match is continued on BBC2 at 9.30 this morning.

Diamondcassis Sat 05-Apr-14 10:30:49

Anyone watching? I have house of sleeping teens, bliss.

magimedi Sat 05-Apr-14 11:49:36

Amazing how Murray suddenly upped the level in those two last games.

I so wish he would stop thew mini tantrums.

Raahh Sat 05-Apr-14 14:49:23

I feel sorry for Ross Hutchins - he has been dropped from the doubles.

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 05-Apr-14 15:42:46

maybe cos he got the monkey off his back with all the pressure and then won the Olympics/US open and Wimbly he feels hes done enough and doesn't need to prove himself any more?

or maybe cos the media are never satisfied and STILL go on at him to win more, and hes forever bridesmaid to Rog/Raf/and Djoko and maybe that pees him off?

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 05-Apr-14 15:43:32

Andy I mean, not Ross! Maybe Ross isn't still 100% to put so much energy into a match? wheres Jamie though?

JuanPotatoTwo Sat 05-Apr-14 16:31:14

Why has Ross been dropped, did they say?

magimedi Sat 05-Apr-14 16:56:13

Did anyone see any of the Roger/Stan doubles that they lost to Khasakstan (sp?) ?

Am amazed they lost!

Raahh Sat 05-Apr-14 17:23:10

Juan- i imagine the ddn't wan to risk losing the rubber, and Murray was match fit having just won. I haven't had chance to watch any- was he still as stroppy as last night?

magimedi Sat 05-Apr-14 17:34:27

Not nearly as stroppy as when playing singles - he was actually very controlled.

Which shows he can do it!!

Looking forward to him v Foggnini tomorrow!

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 13:13:41

I meant to watch Fognini /Murray and forgot. sad

So- there will be a deciding rubber? And Murray can't play again. I think our chances in this tie are slim.

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 13:19:15

I love the way the ATP site describes- '9-times champion, Great Britain'

Last time we won was 1936grin

magimedi Sun 06-Apr-14 13:50:10

Deciding rubber it is!

Fognini played some amazing tennis - he basically walked all over Murray!

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:06:27

I can't see us winning this, really. Looks like Seppi is going to walk all over Ward too.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:07:19

Or maybe I've spoken too soon...

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 14:18:21

Rain delay>

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:18:35

Somebody has to hold their service game in this set.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:18:55

Nooo. Rain.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:35:11

Sun looks like it's out again.

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 14:36:55

Speedy rain break.

It's a very beautiful setting for a court envy

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:42:52

I was thinking that. Right on the beach, with a gorgeous view.

Maybe we need to move Wimbledon.

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 14:45:57

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 14:49:10

Damn. First set to Seppi.

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 15:20:17

Seppi seems quite comfortable now.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 15:36:00

Not sure Ward is good enough to come back from two sets down against Seppi.

Talking of beautiful settings, the Swiss living part of my family are keep posting pictures of Spring walks in the mountains on my FB. It's making me very very [green].

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 16:28:51

Well, no semi final for GB.

And I bet Switzerland expected an easier tie than they've had!

Mama1980 Sun 06-Apr-14 16:33:55

Not a good tennis day hmm been out all day and hoped to see we had at least put up a fight, though I understand ward fought hard the last set.
Oh well smile

DramaAlpaca Sun 06-Apr-14 16:43:26

That was all very disappointing sad

magimedi Sun 06-Apr-14 17:41:08

Very boring match!

Rafa - my DS lives in the French Alps & we go there every summer - it is indeed stunning!

Raahh Sun 06-Apr-14 18:25:04

I am very jealous of your relatives in foreign climesenvy

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 06-Apr-14 18:34:45

Snow's melted on the lower slopes by the look of it, so lots of green alpine meadows and streams with lots of snow still on the peaks in the background. They're making me very, very envy. I seem to be getting one most days because of this #100daysofhappiness thing.

What tennis is next?

magimedi Sun 06-Apr-14 20:18:41

Rafa - You may be very envy of rellos in foreign climes, but that is my PFB & one & only boy wot lives a long way from his MUm! grin

Swings & roundabouts comes to my mind - it's lovely to go & see him & DIl & lovely when they come back here, but Ioften go 5/6 months without a glimpse of him!

JuanPotatoTwo Mon 07-Apr-14 14:05:33

There's two tournaments starting today, one in Morocco and one in Houston, but I don't think any of the top ten are playing til Monte Carlo next Monday.

Raahh Mon 07-Apr-14 14:15:28

Looks like Isner is the highest ranked player in action.

It is pouring down here. The dcs are fed up. First day of the holidays. And my shoulder is really hurting today. :-( Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

JuanPotatoTwo Mon 07-Apr-14 14:24:57

What have you done to your shoulder? Too much tennis?! Horrible day here too - ds2 went to a revision session at school this morning and came home at lunch with three friends in tow. They were supposed to go back for an afternoon session but have somehow persuaded me that it's not compulsory, and are happily ensconced in front room playing Fifa. Hope I won't get in trouble with the other lads' mums.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Mon 07-Apr-14 22:02:50

Did they pick you because they thought you might be a soft touch, Juan?

I spent many an afternoon lying in the sun in a bikini revising hard at my best friends house at 15. It was because it was virtually next door to school and her mum would give me a lift home later which would take 20 mins rather than an 1hr long bus ride. Giving me an extra 40mins a day to revise. It had absolutely nothing to do with the fact that her mum was out at work in the afternoons and mine wasn't.

Mama1980 Mon 07-Apr-14 22:11:35

Oh bless you Juan, I also seem to end up with countless random teens during the holidays. I'm a big believer that they sometimes need a break from school and revision etc. I hope the other parents didn't mind.
Not much tennis this week after the David cup disaster. Looking forward to the clay season proper though starting next week.

Raahh Mon 07-Apr-14 22:17:35

Juan my shoulder has been very painful for months- frozen shoulder was discounted by x-ray, so I'm due a scan. i wish it was tennis related grin

magimedi Mon 07-Apr-14 22:52:36

Huge sympathy, Raahh - I had two frozen shoulders, one then another 18 months later. Ended up having them operated on, which was a total success.

But I so remember how bloody tiring & draining it is - hope your scan comes through asap.

Raahh Tue 08-Apr-14 00:26:41

thanks magi- it's very debilitating, and no amount of painkillers help, but I'm due for the scan on the 20th, so I hope to get it sorted. It's my left shoulder, and I'm left handed, so constantly going to do things and then realising it was a bad movegrin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Tue 08-Apr-14 18:56:24

I hope the scan goes well, Raahh. I'm right handed and mine's my right. You don't realise how much you use your arms until it really hurts to do so. You sort of do it subconsciously.

Apologies for anybody offended by the swearing there. Apparently they can't really understand why I was given the impression that they might not replace it. I can't remember why I was given that impression either, it was on a thread too long ago. Apparently they always replace them. It says so in the terms and conditions. I seem to remember pointing that out at the time, but there we go.

Raahh Tue 08-Apr-14 18:57:58

Yay! to replacing the bus pass!grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Tue 08-Apr-14 19:01:26

Too right. Today has been so utterly shite from start to finish that I'm holding on to that with both hands. I'm definitely holding on to the bus pass, and perhaps stapling it or supergluing it to myself.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 09-Apr-14 21:16:24

Oh Clay, sorry you've had a bad day. But good news about the bus pass - I was actually wondering about that the other day. I've had quite a nice day, apart from this morning when I went to meet two friends I haven't seen in a while. One of them greeted me by saying "you've put on loads of weight". Sadly, there's no denying it's true, and she's an old friend so I wasn't upset, just mightily pissed off. But I retaliated by saying "well you look knackered". So, all's fair and square I think smile

Saw a bit of a match between Haase and Nedovyesov this afternoon (henceforth to be referred to as "Neddy" cos I'll never remember his name). I've only seen Neddy play once before but I like his style of play. And Pot has posted on FB today that Dr Bergen is pleased with his wrist and he has a smaller splint on. All you with bad shoulders need to consult Dr B!

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 09-Apr-14 21:55:47

shock Juan. Who other than me says that sort of thing.

magimedi Wed 09-Apr-14 22:23:41

Bloody rude friend, pesky! I would not dream of saying that & I am not renowned for being nice. grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 09-Apr-14 22:28:38

Oh I wouldn't say it on purpose. Actually, I'm sure even I would be that bad.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Wed 09-Apr-14 22:29:19

wouldn't, that was definitely supposed to be wouldn't not would.

JuanPotatoTwo Wed 09-Apr-14 22:35:04

Ha, too late to take it back Clay smile. muddled, of course you'd be that rude, who are you trying to kid?

magimedi Wed 09-Apr-14 22:49:15

Moi is the epitome of politeness - apart from my facial expressions! grin

Raahh Fri 11-Apr-14 13:45:56

JuanPotatoTwo Fri 11-Apr-14 20:49:01

Epitome of politeness? Have you been at the magic mushrooms again? smile

Went to pick my ds1 up today, so nice to have him home. And, as an added bonus, he's got stubble a la Pot. Same colour and all.

JuanPotatoTwo Sat 12-Apr-14 21:37:08

Where are you all? I've seen the lovely Clay today who has made me very happy. What are the rest of you doing?

Just seen that Dogsbollocks and Gulbis meet in the first round at Monte Carlo next week. Shame that.

Raahh Sat 12-Apr-14 21:46:46

Hello!I'm still feeling grotty. And now my perod has started[tmi] - if i was a horse, I'd shoot me grin

I nearly posted earlier as a comment after an article about Davis Cup made me giggle. Someone said Murray looked like a young Sean Connery. Now, I know the Murray pr machine has been on overdrive this past couple of years, but - really??? ! grin

(Sorry Murray fans) grin not really, I think someone should apologise to Sean!

Well, I am going Dogs with the Gulbis match- but it does mean there must be a really boring match somewhere that would have been livened up with either of them.

Of course, if i forget my password (which is likely) I may never post again after the reset!

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sat 12-Apr-14 21:53:31

Here you all are.

Murray a young Sean Connery? Even as a Murray fan I think that's pushing it.

JuanPotatoTwo Sat 12-Apr-14 21:57:56

Oh Raahh, is it still your shoulder? Bloody good job you're not a horse - if you were, and if it was this time last year, we might have ended up buying you from the supermarket and eating you! How are the hols treating you?

Andy Murray and Sean Connery? In what universe?! However, he does look like this bloke a bit I think:

I'll go with Gulbis then just to make it a bit more interesting, don't really mind though. It's on tomorrow but not sure if TennisTv will be showing it.

Raahh Sat 12-Apr-14 22:16:14

Juan- it has been part shoulder/headaches/ knackeredness/ and migraine.

My children have been bickering amongst themselves nicely all weekgrin. DH was meant to be off- but had to go in Thurs/Fri- to cover someone else's holidayshmm not sure how that works. This weekend he is umpiring a softball tournament- which is all weekend, but the money is welcome. Even if today my darling children have pushed me to the limits grin

Only a week and a bit left. Fortunately, chocolate is not a trigger for my headaches- I will claim my 'mummy tax' in Easter eggs next weekendgrin

Raahh Sat 12-Apr-14 22:16:57

I dare not say who i think Murray looks like. I got into trouble last time I did grin

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 00:09:37

Raahh, you made it through the reset then. grin. Was worried you might have got lost and not been able to find us again.

If you're taking Dogsbollocks and Juan's taking Gulbis, then I'll just toss a coin tomorrow.

Raahh Sun 13-Apr-14 12:20:18

I'm confused As usual grin.

I don't remember changing my password i suppose I must have. I didn't sleep well, and have that dozy 'morning after' feeling at the moment.

I have had a very lazy morning. I am watching the marathon.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 13:09:20

Morning all, lovely day here. Dh is off in a min to Wembley with ds1 and 2 to watch Sheffield Utd v Hull. I'll be glad to get him out of the way - he was attempting some self assembly earlier which has produced, not the new shelving I wanted, but a mess and lots of swearing (on his part). No better Raahh? I've changed p/w but don't r understand what went on. Do any of you?

I'm a bit miffed there's no coverage of Monte Carlo today, there are a couple of matches I'd like to see.

Raahh Sun 13-Apr-14 13:26:00

Juan- I'm feeling better than I have for about 3 weeks- I have had an almost constant headache- but today my head just feels a bit woolly, like a hangover (though I've not had a drink for weeks).

Just seen CJ from the Eggheads finish the marathon- he's running for Millie's Trust, which is a local charity, so glad to see him finish well.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 13:43:49

Have you seen the doc Raahh? Not right to have bad head for so long. Maybe you're lacking in something like iron?

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 13:51:15

Oh and by the way, who did you say Andy looked like?!

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 14:41:08

I agree with Juan. You should probably see a doctor. I think you'd said you'd changed your password but your TIO had disappeared. Oddly I think if you are posting from some devices or using google or FB to log in you can still log in without changing your pw.

Essentially Juan - you might have heard about the heartbleed bug that is affecting lots of websites. It sort of means that anyone can ask the server to give them a list of usernames and passwords and it will give it to them unencrypted (Ok so its a bit more complicated than that). There is a fix to it and tech fixed it pretty quickly but inexplicably decided there was no need to change pw because he'd fixed it.

Unfortunately somebody had already accessed it by the time tech had fixed the site. On Fri night they logged in as Justine and posted a spoof thread. Yesterday afternoon somebody logged in as several different MNers to post in a thread in site stuff and posted a short list of MNer usernames and passwords on another website. Which I suspect caused somebody in HQ to swear a lot and drink a lot of gin.

Logging on as a MNer isn't a big problem there's not much personal data on your account. But you really should change your password elsewhere if you've used the same one you've used on MN.

Rafa- I've seen the doctor, and had blood tests, nothing is showing up. I'm putting it all down to age :-) but I have been taking iron supplements, despite the doctor saying there was no problem (not convinces, I've always been on the low side). To be honest, I've never flt completely right since being sterilised when i had dd2. Probably a coincidence, but I never felt like this before.

and Juan I might have mentioned a passing resemblance to Beavis or Butthead (mtv cartoon characters from the early 90's). (can never remember which is which). It didn't go down well.

Dogsbollocks has taken the first set over Gulbis. I forgot to toss a coin. Heads - dogs, tails - gulbis.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 15:08:31

Tails - Gulbis it is then

Raahh Sun 13-Apr-14 15:08:38

ooh- C'mon then Dog!!

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 15:40:24

Oh god I just wrote a massive post that disappeared. Come on Gulbis.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 15:41:21

Ooh yes, Raahh, can definitely see the resemblance!

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 15:45:18

Thanks for explaining Clay. I've had the same password for years and have it in so many places I can't remember.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 15:56:46

Dogsbollocks has won.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 16:08:14

I went to do something else and when I came back it had disappeared from the live scores site. It's not under completed matches either. Very weird.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 16:19:50

Are you on the ATP site? I feel sorry for Gulbis - out already. Would have felt sorry or Dogsbollocks too though. Would love I have a few days to myself in Monte Carlo.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 16:21:20

Keeping an eye on the Thiem v Mahut match now. I really rate Thiem.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 16:28:43
Raahh Sun 13-Apr-14 16:38:52

yay! Dogs

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 17:06:02

First set to Thiem.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 17:31:48

Am watching Octopussy. Remember Vijay Armritaj smile

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 17:42:38

I saw him and someone else play against Bahrami and Laconte a Wimbledon a few years ago.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 18:02:49

Not looking good for Dom. One set all and down a break in third.

You saw Vijay? He was a charmer if I remember rightly.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 18:25:48

Mahut wins sad. I see Sheffield got beat too - Dh will be upset. This film (Octopussy) is utter shite.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 19:46:28

Yes. Can't for the life of me remember who the fourth guy was. Was Bahrami and Laconte vs Amritaj and someone else in Senior invitation doubles. Was very very funny.

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 21:08:15

Dh has just suggested that if I can get tickets for the tennis i should go, with ds1 and ds2 to Monte Carlo. :0. Don't you have to be young, beautiful and thin to go there? I think it may be the law. And rich? Ooh, I'm all of a tizzy. What shall I do fellow fans?

Raahh Sun 13-Apr-14 21:14:07

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Sun 13-Apr-14 21:15:06

Can't believe you even need to ask on here? grin

JuanPotatoTwo Sun 13-Apr-14 21:31:09

Really? Seems so indulgent but I would like to go. Wish some of you tennis loving folks could come too. There are tickets available for Thursday but Id have to look into accommodation and flights too. But what shall I wear?! I've posted on S & B. I'm too old for such a flurry of excitement.

Talking of excitement - Dh and the boys saw Mark from The Chase at the footie!

magimedi Mon 14-Apr-14 10:05:49

Doesn't matter what you wear, really Pesky!

PS Your DH sounds lovely.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Mon 14-Apr-14 19:20:19

Yes, no one will mind what you are wearing.

Monte Carlo's a bit out of my price range I'm afraid. Might consider somewhere a bit more local at some point in the year.

JuanPotatoTwo Mon 14-Apr-14 20:55:15

It's all booked :0. I have bought new sunglasses and lippy. OMG. And Pot's not even there.

Raahh Mon 14-Apr-14 21:11:29

grin Brilliant- very envy, have a lovely time--and kidnap Rafa for me--

DramaAlpaca Mon 14-Apr-14 21:12:56

Juan you lucky, lucky, lucky thing! envy

I have been to Monte Carlo (not to the tennis, unfortunately) and it's a fabulous place. I hope you have a wonderful time.

I keep getting emails inviting me to enter the draw for tickets to Queen's Club in June. I went one year with DS3 and we had a great weekend. Unfortunately, with the boys the age they are early June always seems to coincide with exams, so I can't go. Maybe next year...

Raahh Mon 14-Apr-14 21:17:14

right- who nicked my envy

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Mon 14-Apr-14 21:20:55

It might have been the same person who nicked your strike out grin

At least you didn't do what I did upthread and type [green].

I'm thinking maybe Queen's or Eastbourne or ground pass to Wimbledon DramaAlpaca.

JuanPotatoTwo Mon 14-Apr-14 21:28:19

Thank you so much all. I feel very very lucky. I only wish we could have a thread outing there, it would be so much fun. I never thought this would happen - I wanted it to but thought perhaps in a few years when the dc were a bit more settled. Anyway, I will be the eyes and ears of the thread (actually, considering the state of my eyesight and hearing I'd better delegate to ds1!) and see if I can get some pics.

RafaIsTheKingOfClay Mon 14-Apr-14 21:46:32

I dread to think what would happen on a thread outing to Monte Carlo. You and magi would be fighting over potato and the rest of us would be embarrassing ourselves yelling stuff like 'Come on Dogsbollocks!!'
