I wasn't going to but after the brilliant Henry Vlll prog on channel 5 I was channel hopping and caught this prog.

Kavana, Gareth,Dane, etc etc. did anyone NOT have a decadent time and phase during their 15 mins of fame?

like the Beiber today.

cant stand any of the people on last night btw but it was interesting to see how far/down/ they've come.

next weeks looks good as its 3T the Jackson kids.

lollilou Fri 21-Feb-14 18:42:29

I am. I didn't really watch last years but I'm enjoying this one. I thought Kavannah seemed quite bitter.

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 21-Feb-14 18:47:47

yes I thought that too. little disguised animosity to Adam rickit.

always thought the rickit was gay.

intrigued to find out what happened with the eternal sisters. that's next week too I think.

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Feb-14 19:36:58

aargh! forgotten which channel its on and when next episode is! anyone?

penguinplease Tue 25-Feb-14 19:38:44

Itv 2 on thurs at 9pm

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 25-Feb-14 19:42:02

Thank you! will put it on planner now.

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 28-Feb-14 19:06:13

Awww I LOVE 3T !! true though what they say, any Jackson is never asked about themselves, its always about Michael.

Eternal were a bit weird and pedantic wherent they?

and A1. Christian looks good.

lollilou Sat 01-Mar-14 10:26:55

Missed Thursdays will watch it on catch up. Caught a clip when one of 3T was saying "you are an alcoholic" to another member, was he being serious?

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 01-Mar-14 17:00:23

missed that bit! they did show Prince Michael at a Jackson house playing charades with them .

LetZygonsbeZygons Sun 02-Mar-14 19:37:39

Aww. saw 3T on a interview ona music channel last night. they are so lovely! really nice sweet guys.

and they've aged very well!

TensionWheelsCoolHeels Sun 02-Mar-14 19:46:28

I caught this last week, with the focus in 5th story or whatever they are called. I thought kavanagh was quite sad, he's had the shitty end of the shit stick and then some. He was bitter but I think given the crap he'd been through (some self inflicted granted) he'd have had to be a saint to be unaffected by it all.

It's on tonight again at 11.50 - I'll be watching as I missed the 3T one.

LetZygonsbeZygons Sun 02-Mar-14 19:57:21

agree about Kavanagh.

spookyskeleton Sun 02-Mar-14 20:06:17

I felt sorry for Kavana too...a really sad story about what the fickle nature of fame can do to you and then to end up singing in some shitty holiday camp in Great Yarmouth sad Yes some of it was self-inflicted but he only did the same as, say, Robbie and he is still going strong.

It wasn't Adam's fault that their manager chose to focus on him was it? Liked Adam, seemed very down to earth.

And all I can say about Gareth is that I hope Jordan was a damn good shag considering it seems to have cost him everything!

Haven't watched this week's yet...just waiting for DS1 to go to bed.

Do wonder about Eternal as I imagine nothing has changed...Kelle is still going to be the odd one out with the sisters as close as they are. Not sure that is going to have a happy ending hmm

TensionWheelsCoolHeels Sun 02-Mar-14 21:07:15

I agree it wasn't Adam's doing at all but to a young guy like kavanagh was, his perception was probably warped by his experience and the treatment he got from his manager. It really does highlight how fickle fame is, and how young inexperienced people are just used and tossed aside. Fragile egos massaged to squeeze every bankable penny from them then just nothing when the money tails off. I'd like to see him at least get enough to have some security afterwards.

ZebraZeebra Mon 03-Mar-14 12:12:39

Maybe if Louise came back to reunite with Eternal, it would dilute that sense of Kelle against the two sisters? I wonder why she hasn't. I know she left a while before they split up but she was part of the group for a long time.

LetZygonsbeZygons Mon 03-Mar-14 17:09:33

Loiuse was another one whos ego wanted a solo career. shes too busy being Mrs Redknapp now!

Watto1 Mon 03-Mar-14 17:15:13

Sad and pedantic alert!!! Has anyone else noticed that the voiceover says '24 big stars' (or something along those lines) but when you count them up there are only 23 of them? Maybe someone else will be joining? Louise perhaps? Or maybe my maths isn't what it was!

NatashaBee Mon 03-Mar-14 17:43:51

Didn't even realize there was another series of this... thanks OP!

spookyskeleton Mon 03-Mar-14 17:50:17

You might be right...how many people are in Damage. I get 23 if there are 4 of them (which I think there is.

I do think they are setting this up for Louise to rejoin...I think it is planned for a big surprise a bit later on. although, if I was Mrs Redknapp, I would not want to do anything else either wink

LetZygonsbeZygons Mon 03-Mar-14 18:08:17

One of A1 declined to reunite. might be that one. Don't know all their names, only Ben and Christian.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels Mon 03-Mar-14 18:26:56

I'm not impressed by anyone who thinks they should just swan in at the end while the rest have had to spill their guts out for our 'viewing pleasure'. A bit like Blue in the last one - they thought they were oh so speshul and they were no better than the rest - all in the same boat, past their best and hoping for a second wave of success.

spookyskeleton Mon 03-Mar-14 19:30:45

Maybe it wouldn't be Louise's choice - the producers may well have told them that was how it was going to be.

Really Louise is arguably the most famous person who could be involved...the best of the rest seem to be a group with a famous uncle, someone married to a spice girl, someone married to one of Westlife and a couple of people who shagged Jordan hmm

LetZygonsbeZygons Mon 03-Mar-14 19:54:06

yes, the word 'star' seems a bit far fetched in some cases! grin

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 07-Mar-14 17:30:47

gosh wtf was THAT about with girl thing? what a load of female dogs!

the only seemingly mature one was the youngest, Jodi. mind you look where she lives and who shes married to!

pussycatdoll Fri 07-Mar-14 17:33:27

Oh yes the angry one clearly got smashed on champers
Didn't they say she had a problem with alcohol & drugs?!

Watto1 Fri 07-Mar-14 17:40:35

I forgot it was on! Does anyone know when it is repeated?

misstiredbuthappy Fri 07-Mar-14 17:42:44

I felt a bit sorry for her seems they all have great lives an lots of money an shes the opposite (think her names lyndsey) she kept saying she neeeded it to work bless her. Can see where shes coming from.

Amandine29 Fri 07-Mar-14 18:27:40

That Lindsay was awful, you could see her getting more and more pissed as the conversation went on. Their reunion looks like a disaster waiting to happen.

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 07-Mar-14 18:46:58

and apparently next week Eternal are asked where Loiuse is!! this should be interesting.

Kavanagh- seemed very distant too didn't he? does Gareth Gates have something against him or something?

Watto1 Sat 08-Mar-14 16:35:53

I've caught up now. Oh dear, I've counted again and there ARE 24 of them blush I thought that Damage only had 4 members, not 5. Oops!

Chunderella Mon 10-Mar-14 13:57:26

I've been watching and enjoying too, also viewed last year's on youtube during this series. Trash tv at its finest. Girl Thing were a really odd but interesting choice- I remember all the hype about them. I wonder how much of the Kavana stuff is being exaggerated, like they said he's homeless? But he's clearly earning some money so presumably he could rent something, even just a room, if he wanted?

squoosh Mon 10-Mar-14 15:37:26

Girl Thing are fascinating. Never heard of them before this but they're a good example of failed marketing hype. They had so much money thrown at them!

The one who is married to the guy from Westlife hasn't aged a day. Lindsay is a stroppy cow but how must it feel to for her to compare her life to theirs.

Chunderella Mon 10-Mar-14 16:06:19

Well, two of them seem to be very well off, although only Jodi had any actual success in the business. And both of them married it, which is always less impressive than getting it for yourself. The pink one and the Dutch one both seem to have ordinary enough lives- comfortable enough, but as close to Lindsay's as to Jodi's. I see your point though. She was no less talented or attractive than the others.

Amandine29 Mon 10-Mar-14 19:19:00

Surely it's partly her personality that has put her in that position? She's not exactly likeable, is she? She also seems very impulsive and angry.

Of course you can't deny Jodi marrying Kian from Westlife has helped her out a lot.

Chunderella Mon 10-Mar-14 19:46:33

Well obviously what we've seen is heavily edited, but I didn't think Nikki came across particularly well either. She doesn't seem to take any responsibility at all for what happened. Linzi clearly has problems with drink, she said that herself, but I believe she's also had a child with a lot of health needs? Coping with that as a single parent would cripple many of us financially.

Also I've just realised my post above should have said 'as close to Michelle's as to Jodi's.' I thought my knowledge of trashy 90s pop was superb, but clearly I need to brush up!

Amandine29 Mon 10-Mar-14 22:50:00

Which one's Nikki again? The one who lives in America?

With the possible exception of Jodi, none of them particularly came over well. Stuck in the past.

Chunderella Wed 12-Mar-14 12:28:32

Yes. It took me a while to work all the names out too!

Amandine29 Thu 13-Mar-14 22:44:24

Damage are so dull. And did they really call Emma Bunton the Spice Girl's lead vocalist? confused

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 14-Mar-14 18:29:41

oh Damage were yawnsome! what was the point of them? talk about daggers at dawn. and yes apparently Emmas the lead singer in spice girls!!!

and the sisters in Eternal looked positively bored and above themselves didn't they? that vocal coach was saying shed heard they were right divas.

and the Dane/Gareth/ etc boy band should concentrate on the songs, nothing wrong with just standing there and letting the dancers do the dancing!

Looking forward to seeing Tito Jackson next week.

spookyskeleton Sat 15-Mar-14 13:08:14

Just caught up with the last 2 episodes. Have I missed something but I am sure I remember Kav coming out to the others in the first episode when they were all sat in the bar confused

Decided I don't like the sisters in Eternal, they seem to think a lot of themselves!

And I am very envy of Jodi's house grin

SpanishFly Mon 17-Mar-14 17:49:05

Just catching up with the last couple of episodes. The Eternal sisters are coming across as really Mean Girls. They seem quite bullying. And one of them looks very different now, strangely.

Chunderella Mon 17-Mar-14 18:41:04

Vernie looks quite different. She's aged very well, she's absolutely gorgeous.

AClassyMove Mon 17-Mar-14 18:51:39

I have recorded some of this, and watched a little.

Gareth Gates has nobody other than his own lies to thank for his downfall. It was recoverable if he slept with a pregnant KP for his PR to deal with at the time, to lie about it was his downfall later on.

Girl thing are an interesting bunch. As has been said Lyndsey sounds like she has always been one of lives fighters and has needed to be. I am looking forward to learning more about that group.

LetZygonsbeZygons Mon 17-Mar-14 19:00:30

I find Esther from eternal really overly full of herself, does anyone else?

and agree about Gareth and his lies.

SpanishFly Tue 18-Mar-14 09:20:21

Yeah I agree re Esther. They seem very bullying. And poor Kellie seems to have lapped up everything they said, but my gut feeling is they don't give a shit about her at all

SpanishFly Tue 18-Mar-14 09:21:26

And what was Corey from Damage arguing about? What did he tell his band mate that he "fobbed off"?

SpanishFly Tue 18-Mar-14 09:37:29

Jade and Emma are adorable - they seem besotted with each other. jealous

LetZygonsbeZygons Tue 18-Mar-14 17:43:25

yes Jade and Emma are a lovely couple and one of those rare ones that are still together. very sweet.

scully81 Fri 21-Mar-14 16:30:25

Having watched this weeks, I think I might have a small crush on Adam Rickett - what a nice lad!!! kavana seems to have alot of issues and it made uncomfortable viewing watching him, pissed out of his head arguing with lovely Adam. It's certainly a world away from the kavana I loved when I was 16!! I don't really like Eternal, they are coming across very arrogant and like they are above everyone else, well except kellie, she always seemed sweet. damage are a bit zzzzz but A1, I actually can't wait to see more of them! Wasn't a fan back in the day but their songs are very catchy, and Take on me is my all time favourite song. (original version though!).
Can't really remember Girl thing but I hope they aren't getting their hopes up too much. I really like Jodi though, she seems like a really lovely girl xx

Amandine29 Fri 21-Mar-14 17:22:30

Kavana's decline is very uncomfortable viewing. Like Kavana, some of the girls from Girl Thing are clearly hoping this will be their return to showbiz. It's quite awkward to watch really.

Agree Adam Rickett seemed sweet, I always want to call him Nick though.

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 22-Mar-14 10:48:20

LOVE LOVE LOVE 3T !!!! they are gorgeous looking, and seem so sweet!

everyone emotional at their singing, and they themselves when they talk about Uncle Michael.

and LOVE Tito too!

Esther is so far up her own arse isn't she? saying about Dane outdoing her on the vocals. FFS.

feel sorry for Kavana. hes very messed up.

how sweet is Adam Rickit? mind you I don't think they should film things like that, its quite personal.

AR reminds me of Jason Donovan looks wise.

Gareth really cant stand Kav can he?

Amandine29 Sat 22-Mar-14 10:52:43

I think I would be pretty pissed off with Kavana if he was behaving like that. When you're in a band you're not just ruining your own chances of a career but everyone else's as well...

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 22-Mar-14 10:57:26

agree, just think as he was a solo artist he cant get his head round being part of a group aND PROBABLY DISILLUSIONED THAT HE WAS A BIGGER POP STAR IN HIS DAY THAN HE REALLY WAS -bloody caps lock- cant be bothered typing all over again!

plus as his life fell apart hes like the girl in girl thing and is desperate for some money/fulfilment/self esteem?

maybe iM over analysing .

Amandine29 Sat 22-Mar-14 11:05:35

He is just like Lindsey in Girl Thing, you're right. And I don't think it's going to turn out well for either of them, unfortunately.

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 22-Mar-14 11:14:55

Thing is are they too proud to try and get a 'normal' job?

Kav seems ungrateful that he gets gigs at working mens clubs/pubs and stuff yet he should be grateful?

how many pop stars don't keep being successful and have to get a normal job and normal life?

its very sad.

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 22-Mar-14 11:20:43

have to log off now, need to see to DC! couldn't get internet connection last night at all, may have to change to days! try and see you all later!

Amandine29 Sat 22-Mar-14 15:07:44

They've both made bad choices and have very similar personalities. Neither of them seem capable of sorting out their own life after being manufactured for what little success they did have. I do think Lindsay would be in the same position she is now if she hadn't have been in Girl Thing. Maybe Kav would have had a 'normal' life and job.

It's not nice to watch but I can't feel much sympathy for either of them.

Aggression as a defence, alcohol problems, living in the past...recipe for disaster.

spookyskeleton Sat 22-Mar-14 17:13:58

I totally agree that Lindsey and Kav are very similar in terms of their lives since their pop 'success'. Kav, in particular, seems to think he was better/more successful than he actually he was and has spent the last 15 years trying to recapture that and feeling he is above the gigs etc. I do feel sorry for him as he is severely f*cked up sad

The 2 sisters in Eternal are proper stuck up aren't they? Not at all likeable and can see now why Kelle hated it first time round wink

Love A1 though they haven't been shown much - clearly talented singers, more talented than their 'boyband ' roots let on.

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 22-Mar-14 17:18:12

who were last years? I remember (buti didn't watch it) Atomic kitten, blue, b'witched, 911, five?

and if theres a next series who's left to reunite?

I can only think of s club 7 and hearsay!

spookyskeleton Sat 22-Mar-14 17:23:39

Hearsay would be good but no way Kym Marsh and Myleene K would do it as they are too successful elsewhere.

SClub 7 seem perfect though.

Need some bands who had some drama at the end of their career for good tv wink

Amandine29 Sat 22-Mar-14 17:29:20

Agree Eternal sisters are a bit snooty. They did a good job of covering it before they reunited with Kelle though. Until that point I thought it was 50/50 but in rehearsals they haven't come across well.

Also agree no way Hearsay would be on it. Surprised S Club 7 haven't already been on really. I did think what about S Club Juniors, but with two of them in the Saturdays that isn't going to happen.

Amandine29 Sat 22-Mar-14 17:43:05

What about E17, All Saints (not going to happen), Savage Garden, Vengaboys, Hanson (I think they might still be going actually)...

There's not many bands left to pick from really.

BookFairy Sat 22-Mar-14 17:50:35

Just found this thread! I caught up with Big Reunion this afternoon. Kavana is so troubled. I really don't see 5th Storey making it past the first gig.

Jodie from Girl Thing amuses me greatly - "oh the Brits are invite only - I would take you if I could, girls!" <clearly lying through her back teeth>

spookyskeleton Sat 22-Mar-14 18:10:53

All Saints have reunited already - they are supporting someone famous on tour (I forget who now).

The Brits thing just shows the gulf between Jodi and the rest of them because she got lucky and married a big popstar

Amandine29 Sat 22-Mar-14 18:15:22

Well that's another one off the list then!

Tbh anyone else I can think of wouldn't be worth watching.

spookyskeleton Sat 22-Mar-14 18:38:51

They are touring with the Backstreet Boys (so maybe not that famous wink )

LetZygonsbeZygons Sat 22-Mar-14 18:55:05

Big Fun, anyone? grin and [groan] emoticon! any of those awful PWL groups, Id rather jack than Fleetwood mac girls etc etc.

Muddlewitch Sun 23-Mar-14 16:56:08

Let Loose! I loved 'Crazy for you.'

SpanishFly Wed 26-Mar-14 13:16:39

"Dane even outdid ME." "Oh, no, I wouldnt say that." - quotes of the series so far! They are so up themselves it's terrifying. The fact they won a MOBO seems to make them far superior to the others.

I still cant understand what it is about Vernie (Esther?) that looks so totally different.

Chunderella Wed 26-Mar-14 17:33:20

Might be the long hair? She mostly wore it short during Eternal, had a crop in the early days.

Trojanhouse Wed 26-Mar-14 17:39:16

Esther and her sister look good though

Chunderella Wed 26-Mar-14 17:42:52

They do, and so does Kelle. Like none of them have aged a bit. Snooty or not (and fwiw I wonder if some of it is social awkwardness) I still love Eternal. If you listen to them singing I Wanna Be The Only One, and then listen to some of the others, it's almost comical how vast the gulf is. Esther can sing. Of course she knows it. So would I, with pipes like that!

iloveweetos Wed 26-Mar-14 17:51:06

Absolutely love 3t. Girl thing and 5th story are definitely expecting too much out of this. Expect nothing and you aren't disappointed is how they should've entered this. Kinda sad watching kavana cos I really like him! The girl thing member from Manchester (can't get my head around their names!) I hope she really gets something from this. Out of all them she's really living in the past and has a lot to get over. I want the one with pink/blonde hair to make some effort tho sheesh!
Love damage! So weird tho cos rahsaan (i think) worked in my old secondary school!

LetZygonsbeZygons Wed 26-Mar-14 19:23:39

its the last one tomoz isn't it?

wonder how Kavana will be.

girl thing just seem desperate except for Jodi whos done good with Kian.

Chunderella Thu 27-Mar-14 14:21:58

I hope they do a 3rd series! It's weird, I was more of a guitar music type in the 90s and early 00s, never really liked most of the bands featured. Except Eternal. But I've really enjoyed both. I guess if you wait long enough, nostalgia makes everything interesting. Am thinking East 17 and Steps would be dramatic. And I bet the Vengaboys would do it too. God, they were awful. If I find myself tapping along to any of their shit, that's when I'll know I'm not young anymore.

LetZygonsbeZygons Fri 28-Mar-14 16:51:02

Anyone else have a little sob?

I did with 3T !

and Kavana was allright on the night, good for him.

girl thing were better than I thought theyd be,

esther modest and humble as always!

made me miss the days when I was in a band, I miss the performing, I could feel their adrenaline.
