Last thread here.

This pro dance is fun smile

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:26:23

Surprised to see Aliona dancing with James!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 24-Nov-13 19:26:24

Mary Berry appearing out of a gigantic cake at the end of a pro dance is one of the best things I've seen all series grin

Doinmummy Sun 24-Nov-13 19:27:03

Does anyone know if Ben has fallen out with Christina? They don't put their arms round each other when they're up with Tess like all the other couples.

Minimammoth Sun 24-Nov-13 19:27:31

Marking place. What is Tess wearing??

Doinmummy Sun 24-Nov-13 19:27:48

Whys that Jane ?

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:28:10

I certainly wasn't expecting Mary Berry to pop out of there! Hahahaha!

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:28:12

Monkseal's blog should make interesting reading this week!

FushandChups Sun 24-Nov-13 19:29:01

Just posted on the other thread - but in brief.. that was FABULOUS, love a good charleston and thought Anton more than held his own there! Marvellous!

And agree - music last night was SHITE!

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:29:24

Jane, I think it was all eliminated dancers in that. Anton was dancing with Karen as well.

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:30:08

He's usually with his Missus Doin
Probably because she's still competing and the other pros doing most of the routine are out now?

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:30:57

Checking in

Picturesinthefirelight Sun 24-Nov-13 19:33:13

I'm lo

MrsBramleyApple Sun 24-Nov-13 19:33:39

Come on Ben................

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:33:55

Why does Claudia wear shapeless outfits?

Picturesinthefirelight Sun 24-Nov-13 19:34:08

I'm looking forward to Musicals week, hope they choose some interesting sings though, not just the usual standards. Please please please no Grease.

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:34:28

Fingers crossed for Sophie and Brendan...

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister Sun 24-Nov-13 19:35:03

grin at Mary Berry ( put her down for next year please!)

Mark - not a surprise though hope he's against Ben for a close one

AmIthatTinselly Sun 24-Nov-13 19:35:10

Musical week sounds brilliant. Mark in the D/O not such a big shock. Hopefully he'll be up against the other duff one

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:35:28

Anyone else think Natalie and Artem are becoming complacent ?

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:36:43

Mark looks ready to go.

Doinmummy Sun 24-Nov-13 19:37:14

I love Il Divo

Doinmummy Sun 24-Nov-13 19:37:55

I think Natalie thinks she'll win

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:38:49

I don't think Artem is - thistle. On ITT he said he thought they were over marked in Blackpool, and he seemed genuinely 'umble when Claudia spoke to him just now grin

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:39:19

Gosh, Aljaż is so fab out there with Kristina.

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:39:38

Darcy has the look of Paloma faith tonight blush

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:41:17

Ooh, nice seeing Len explain himself with a demo. Really would like to see him dancing a full number.

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:41:36

Craig's piles must be playing up.

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:41:44

Haha that slo mo of Bruno was hilarious.

Good to see Len in action - miss him with Claud on ITT.

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:43:42

Ben or Sophie in bottom

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:44:51

Abbey has tied her hair back more tonight - I thought it was getting in the way last night.

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:44:58

Marks going home

FushandChups Sun 24-Nov-13 19:46:16

Not surprised to see Mark & Iveta there but am to see Ben & Kristina. . reckon Mark is heading home as their Charleston is probably the better dance hmm

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:46:33

I think Ben deserves to stay. I think mark is relying on being entertaining too much.

MrsBramleyApple Sun 24-Nov-13 19:46:47

I will be FURIOUS if Mark goes through tonight!!!!!

AmIthatTinselly Sun 24-Nov-13 19:46:50

Oh, please, goodbye Ben and awful Kristina. Please

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwww I love Ben.

MrsBramleyApple Sun 24-Nov-13 19:47:47

Natalie cant sing for toffee!

directoroflegacy Sun 24-Nov-13 19:47:49

I find the clothes Claudia wears refreshing ie she doesn't feel the need to get her boobs out etc
Although my dh doesn't 'get' her
I think women prefer her??

MrsBramleyApple Sun 24-Nov-13 19:48:17

And neither can Abbey!!!

brainwashed Sun 24-Nov-13 19:48:43

No I definitely haven't seen enough of Ben yet. Mark to go please......

Marking spot

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:49:39

I do love Iveta's dress - nice to see it again!

HRHwheezing Sun 24-Nov-13 19:52:01

I'm getting my tissues ready........

I have a weird feeling Mark will stay. Can't say I'd be bothered I loathe Kristina and can't see the attraction of Ben.

LeBearPolar Sun 24-Nov-13 19:53:17

Noooooo, we need Ben for one more week. I think Mark is ready to go; he seems knackered. I think his knees are wrecked.

But ben is not making a good job of this second time round.

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:53:46

I think Ben did that worse than yesterday.

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:53:50

Hah, when Kristina was talking about the "awful scores", I first thought she meant the music. Just like most others, I thought the music and dances were a bit bland this week.

I imagine they'll get through one more week.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 24-Nov-13 19:53:52

They both made mistakes.

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:53:59

Iveta is so pretty in ballroom gowns

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 24-Nov-13 19:54:30

Kristina knows that went wrong! She doesn't look happy.

Picturesinthefirelight Sun 24-Nov-13 19:54:36

I think Ben danced worse than last night.

Mark might be fun for musicals week having recently played Edna in Hairspray recently.

MrsBramleyApple Sun 24-Nov-13 19:54:36

I currently have all out warfare on my FB status between my ds who likes Ben and his godfather and godbrother who like Mark and are winding him up!!!

AmIthatTinselly Sun 24-Nov-13 19:54:45

No dancing in that. Matt Baker and his unicycle did that 100 times better. If they go, hope Kristina remembers that she is the pro, not the celebrity hmm

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:54:53

My ears r wrecked looking at Darcy's earrings shock

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:55:42

I think they're right based on tonight's dances.

Awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww - that's it: I'm not watching it anymore now.

brainwashed Sun 24-Nov-13 19:55:44

No!!!!!!

Picturesinthefirelight Sun 24-Nov-13 19:56:41

Dd has just demonstrated what was wrong with the Charleson steps!

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:56:41

Too busy typing to spot the mistakes in the dances. Was it just timing or more?

MrsBramleyApple Sun 24-Nov-13 19:57:01

NO BLOODY WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is an absolute joke!!!!! Ben was a far better dancer than Mark!!!! The judges are crazy!!!!

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:57:19

Oh I can't stand her she needs to stfu !angry

Picturesinthefirelight Sun 24-Nov-13 19:58:03

Ben just fell apart, he was trying to follow kristiva & was dancing really half heartedly.

Glad Kristina has gone.

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:58:42

Just wasn't his best dance at all

AndiMac Sun 24-Nov-13 19:58:50

I think Darcey was actually crying at Ben going.

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 19:59:02

Craig was Dad Dancing!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 24-Nov-13 19:59:21

I think Mark was meant to be doing a weave and got on the wrong foot. It was when he was going across on the first diagonal.

thistlelicker Sun 24-Nov-13 19:59:46

It's been a pleasure

JaneEyresHeir Sun 24-Nov-13 19:59:51

Sad to see Ben go - though I think he's done well to get this far!

V surprised that Darcey voted against Ben, having drooled over him for weeks.

digerd Sun 24-Nov-13 20:00:40

Ben has gone sad

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister Sun 24-Nov-13 20:00:51

Don't think Mark was expecting that. He didn't look keen to go through. Was the right result on the dance off though. Ben didn't do as well , even his lifts looked dodgy

MaryZygon Sun 24-Nov-13 20:02:29

Well I only saw the last two minutes.

And got a bit of a shock shock. Off to read the thread and find out wtf is going on.

HRHwheezing Sun 24-Nov-13 20:04:00

What shall I watch on a Saturday night now?

<throws my tena lady at the tv and promptly leaves>

digerd Sun 24-Nov-13 20:04:55

Mark looked tired and ready to go. He was quite good in the waltz so expected his foxtrot to be better, but last night he looked exhausted.
I was sure Ben would stay for next week due to his energy < I saw his mistake at the end, but>.

MaryZygon Sun 24-Nov-13 20:05:21

Mark will go next week if he gets a latin number.

I don't like this "we are judging on tonight's dance off only" crap. It's unfair - it should be on who is the best dancer and although Ben is clumsy and awkward he is definitely better than Mark overall.

I too think Mark is ready to go - it's all getting too much for him, and he would never manage two dances.

SoupDragon Sun 24-Nov-13 20:05:28

Didn't Darcey bring previous weeks into her decision last week? Tis time she was very clear it was based on tonight's dance only.

I only watched it for Ben! sad

LeBearPolar Sun 24-Nov-13 20:05:44

Ben did fall apart there - he seemed to forget the steps.

Ziggyzoom Sun 24-Nov-13 20:07:03

At the end I got the impression that Christina was desperately trying to encourage Ben to swirl her around like a princess and he was having none of it and ushered the others in. I wonder if she was coming on a bit too strong and he opted out!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 24-Nov-13 20:07:18

Not sure about Ben's energy, I thought he looked ready for a sit-down halfway through grin

DaveBussell Sun 24-Nov-13 20:07:29

Yes, I thought Mark wanted to go, think he's had enough physically whereas Ben looked like he was still enjoying it overall. He made mistakes but it really wasn't a bad charleston at all.

Mark looked as if coming up and own the stairs was too much for him!

OrlaNuttin Sun 24-Nov-13 20:13:57

Mark was definitely better in the dance off (and in general imo) but poor fella looks like his knees are killing him, and he would have been happy to go.
Glad Ben's gone. He seems like a properly nice man but I was sick of being told that I ought to find him attractive when tbh I wouldn't!
Just wonder how much more Ben would have improved if he'd had Lilia, or Natalie as a teacher.

digerd Sun 24-Nov-13 20:14:10

That was compared to Mark's lack of energy. His dance last week was so energetic, perhaps he overdid it.
If he is OK, Mark should be entertaining in the broadway dance theme next week, whereas Ben wouldn't have been.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 24-Nov-13 20:21:15

I see what you mean. Yes, I agree, Mark's a better bet for a musicals week.

AmIthatTinselly Sun 24-Nov-13 20:26:17

HRH You could try the very handsome Ashley. Or the super cute Kevin?

<I still feel bereft at the loss of the lovely Pasha, but am soldiering on>

nennypops Sun 24-Nov-13 20:31:20

Ben's mistakes were very obvious, so that was the right decision. But I was quite concerned about how Mark was clearly struggling going up the stairs after his first dance. Absolute credit to him for just getting on with things despite really quite bad knee injuries - refreshing change after all the fuss about Natalie.

Mark has looked bored for weeks - he was fun to begin with. Ben at least seemed to still be putting everything into it/

FushandChups Sun 24-Nov-13 21:21:28

Of the two, and based purely on the dance off, the right decision was made. I liked both actually but Ben didn't really pull that off. I'm pleased Mark is still in but agree with everyone else that he looks ready to go. However, he gave it his all which he wouldn't have done if he didn't want to stay so good on him! Also thought him dedicating his dance to his wife was really sweet - so go Team Mark smile

ppeatfruit Sun 24-Nov-13 21:29:25

Well as today's show was based on the Great British Bake Off they should've removed both of them (they looked like they'd both had enough TBH grin) Thanks for the new thread Polka grin

I LOVE musicals; great West Side Story song tonight (not sure about it being sung by all males though)!!

MsInterpret Sun 24-Nov-13 21:59:41

Checking in... Agree tonight was a bit meh. But not bothered about Ben going. Sorry Ben-lovers, he just doesn't do it for me - all the more for you then! He seems so BOring and I find his face really bland and actually all the over-egging how HOT he was on the show made me turn off even more.

Really liked Abby and Aljaz's paso (disclaimer: I know nothing about dancing!) I so want Sophie to do well but yes, she is just so awkward. It's her face isn't it? The looking down and uncertain face mixed with smile in the rumba - compared with Abby's powerful paso character for example...COME ON Sophie - get angry about the judges comments and come back next week and SHOW THEM! Unfortunately, I suspect that the comments will serve only to increase her nerves and she'll be worse than ever.

Off to see what Monkseal thought.

Horsemad Sun 24-Nov-13 22:50:40

Ha! Here you are! Haven't watched any Strictly all weekend & stayed away from the thread to avoid seeing who'd gone - then saw the result on my news feed smile So came to see what you all thought. grin

I'm going to watch both progs tomorrow evening with a big glass of wine. smile

TheSontaranPussycat Mon 25-Nov-13 00:12:46

<tiptoes in and waves to SoupDragon>

Mark should have had knee braces from the start of the competition - his injuries sounded awful on ITT. I thought he danced better than Ben "tonight", and tbh I am quite pleased to see Ben go.

Sophie's rhumba seemed to fit with the actual song - in which the singer wistfully wonders "will you still love me tomorrow" and still goes for the shagging soulful sex. It would've been odd doing a dirty rhumba to that particular song.

digerd Mon 25-Nov-13 07:21:07

Brendan was annoyed with the judges and argued for the first time this series. They loved Sophie's Charleston although that is usually full of whacky faces and she danced it in a cool haughty manner which suited her.
I liked her rumba style and think the judges were inconsistent and unfair.

Craig has been Mr Jekyll but turned into Mr Hyde last Saturday hmm

HarrietJonesPrimeMinister Mon 25-Nov-13 07:29:38

Can someone link to Monkseal when its up please.

Horsemad Mon 25-Nov-13 07:56:11

What has caused Mark's knee problems? Is it stress on the joints from the dancing?

Snowstorm Mon 25-Nov-13 07:56:42

Marking my place.

AndiMac Mon 25-Nov-13 08:13:53

Horsemad, he said he blew the cartilage in them the 2nd week of rehearsals. Could happen to anyone, but obviously easier to happen with his kind of weight on top of them.

birdbrain21 Mon 25-Nov-13 08:50:20

marking place

Animation Mon 25-Nov-13 09:22:19

Thought it unfair that Ben went as his dance was technically much harder than Mark's dance. I know he lost his timing in a couple of places but Mark's hands are still like spatulas!

awaynboilyurheid Mon 25-Nov-13 10:02:21

checking in late but Ben on his first dance did well but kind of gave up on the dance off which was a shame and Ziggy yes I noticed christina wanted him to twirl her a bit more but he had had enough ! poor Christina tho, hope one year they give her a decent partner you can tell all the ones the producers don't want to ever win! Brendan and Sophie need to listen yes great dance but she looked bored through it all and it does spoil it acting lessons needed

AndiMac Mon 25-Nov-13 10:24:53

Christina had Jason Donovan who made it to the semi-final! He was an excellent dancer and actor as creepy and dull as he occasionally came across.

AndiMac Mon 25-Nov-13 10:25:54

Kristina I mean of course.

MsInterpret Mon 25-Nov-13 10:37:57

Monkseal summaries The full reviews are usually up on Tue or Wed grin

EmeraldJeanie Mon 25-Nov-13 10:57:23

I thought Mark should have gone, as did he by the looks of it.
He had a much simpler dance than Ben's and even with Ben's mistakes he should have stayed.
The judges have their favourites and Mark is one of them.

ppeatfruit Mon 25-Nov-13 12:32:18

Yes Emerald Mark looked completely gutted I think he wanted to go too!

Animation Mon 25-Nov-13 13:25:02

Thought I lip read Christina say to Ben 'I'm sorry' at the end there, just prior to him waving everyone over. My interpretation was that she may have asked him to change some technique in the dance off - and that it might have put him off, and then he lost his timing.

Horsemad Mon 25-Nov-13 15:58:11

Thanks AndiMac smile

Am having nice bath, clean pjs and glass of wine in bed tonight whilst I watch Sat/Sun progs grin Can't wait!

MrsBramleyApple Mon 25-Nov-13 18:46:36

Now watching Ben on IT2 I admire him so much as well as fancying the pants off him! Kristina is crying............

wetaugust Mon 25-Nov-13 19:07:40

And for the 2nd week in a row I feel I must have been watching a different programme to the judges.

Ben actually danced and did some difficult lifts. Mark strolled through his 'dance'. But Mark won (again) confused.

This kind of nonsense could start putting fans like me off this programme.

No wonder I fell asleep just before the end of Saturday's show.

And yes, it would be nice if the singers could extend their reetoire. I am sick of hearing the same old songs series after series.

In fact, why do I bother watching?

MintyChops Mon 25-Nov-13 19:15:52

Love how Monkseal calls Brendan "Brenda", it makes his hissy fits even funnier; although with my total lack of actual dance knowledge, and based purely on my years of watching Strictly, I really liked their rumba and I thought SEB did it well so I suppose he has right to be cross.

digerd Mon 25-Nov-13 19:38:47

I missed ITT and seeing Ben for the last timesad. Just saw the end with Craig who has reverted to being Dr Jekyl againhmm. What was the matter with him last Saturday?
Perhaps it was Kristina who went wrong, I don't know as noticed only Ben out of synch with her. I really feel down that Ben is not in it anymore, but don't expect he would have been any good with the Broadway theme. < was hoping to be wowed, though>.

Animation I have to disagree with your comments about Ben's dance being more difficult. There is no technique written for Charleston, it's a "make it up as you go along" kind of dance. Yes there are certain elements that you expect to see, but it is nothing compared to the Ballroom technique which calls for accurate footwork (heel leads, ball flat, etc), specific room alignments, as well as mastering swing and sway and the ballroom hold.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Mon 25-Nov-13 20:10:16

And foxtrot technique is especially horrible to get right.

<reaches for the deep heat>

ppeatfruit Tue 26-Nov-13 09:08:07

I made a point of reading the credits after Saturday's SCD and just the number of producers it's got without all the lighting, staging directors etc etc etc....... might be one of the reasons why it sometimes seems such a dog's dinner grin

AndiMac Tue 26-Nov-13 09:26:55

Monkseal's review of Saturday night is up.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Tue 26-Nov-13 09:39:53

I don't mind that Ben's gone. He didn't have much more to offer and his Charleston wasn't great – leaden-footed and not great swivel.

Sophie's rumba: I agree with Brenda that a rumba doesn't need to be raunchy; it can be emotional, intimate, loving... but she did not express any of those things in her dance. I've said it before, but I think she's a cold fish, or her dance personality certainly is. Brenda needs to shut up and stop huffing as well. It's not impressive or attractive.

Mark OK but I agree his injuries must be bothering him and he probably secretly wants to go (although I do think he loves dancing with Iveta).

Natalie: agree with Craig, it lacked attack and her head position wasn't exaggerated/stylised enough.

Suzanna: not her dance but she gave it loads with her performance and personality and I still love her.

Ashley: dull, overpraised, his leaning head is getting on my nerves.

Abbey not bad: could have been stronger but some lovely paso lines.

Can't even remember anyone else grin. It was all very flat and uninspired after the high of Blackpool. This week will be better again!

ppeatfruit Tue 26-Nov-13 11:24:21

TheHeadless Funny you saying about Mark liking dancing with Iveta; when we saw his wife's face watching she didn't look she liked it!!shock IMO she had a very 'forced' tight smile!!

SoupDragon Tue 26-Nov-13 11:27:43

I think it's a shame Ben went this week purely because I think Mark wanted to go. I got the impression that both knew they were on borrowed time but I think Ben is physically up for another week whereas Mark isn't.

SoupDragon Tue 26-Nov-13 11:30:51

I don't think Sophie is a cold fish - I think she's a very private person and is struggling with the emotional side of this. It's interesting when most struggle with the technical side.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Tue 26-Nov-13 11:35:14

ppeat, now you mention it she did, didn't she? Must be hard watching your significant other getting up close and personal with a beautiful professional, I suppose. OR maybe she was just worried because of his painful knees, or upset that he'd had to go through ANOTHER dance-off?

Dragon, I did say it might just be Sophie's dance personality that is cold-fish-like. She cannot seem to express anything through her dancing, whether that be the 'sexy' dances, romantic ones, fun ones... I'm heartily tired of watching her, tbh. It's not at all interesting.

ppeatfruit Tue 26-Nov-13 11:36:08

I totally agree about Sophie SoupDragon I loved her rumba actually.

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 11:36:37

I love Mark. Such a lovely, genuine man.

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 11:37:28

Sophie's talking about her husband approving of her rumba was a bit strange.

Horsemad Tue 26-Nov-13 11:41:11

She's under his thumb!!

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 11:44:05

Yes I thought that. No other partners have been so fussy!!

Horsemad Tue 26-Nov-13 11:48:36

I wouldn't give a toss whether my DH 'approved' of my dances or not! grin

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 11:50:22

Me either. Tbh though he would probably prefer a filthy rumba to a romantic one!! grin

Horsemad Tue 26-Nov-13 11:59:40

Mine too! grin Most men would, I imagine. I think my fave rumba on SCD was Vincent & Rachel Stevens.

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 12:04:15

Yes I have lost track of who was in it when now. I was asking my DH today who was in the first series and neither of us could remember.

Horsemad Tue 26-Nov-13 12:07:33

Was it the first series that Natasha Kaplinsky won? They all merge into one another, don't they?!

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Tue 26-Nov-13 12:09:08

Colin Jackson did a BEAUTIFUL rumba. I remember Arlene saying it was 'smooth as silk' and she was right! I can't find it online though, so if anyone can, it would be great to watch it again...

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 12:09:41

Great knowledge horsemad

Horsemad Tue 26-Nov-13 12:11:23

Thanks Iwas - didn't always watch the early ones as life was a bit frantic then!

Iwaswatchingthat Tue 26-Nov-13 12:12:50

Yes I remember being pregnant watching them all slinking about thinking I am never going to have a waist again!!! Tbh though it was easier to watch then without two dds swirling around in front of the telly. Not as fun though!

Horsemad Tue 26-Nov-13 12:16:18

Only female in the house (apart from DCat) so it's just me unless the menfolk decide to watch & critique hmm

Prefer to watch without their 'helpful' commentary tbh!

ppeatfruit Tue 26-Nov-13 13:32:14

Seriously though it must be difficult to be the partner of a celeb who's really 'into' grin his or her dancing partner or vice versa but it must be a professional problem. IIRC there was a list on here of the couples who had literally got off together in the last series shock

DuckToWater Tue 26-Nov-13 13:51:35

For the first few years of SCD, the rumba seemed to be the kiss of death for most celebrities. Notably if Brenda(n) was the pro partner. Then more recently there have been a few good ones. Sophie's was ok, not cringingly awful like some, but nowhere near enough hip movement.

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Tue 26-Nov-13 14:42:36

Monkseal is hilarious as ever...did you all notice the Mumsnet reference in his blog this week? grin

Animation Tue 26-Nov-13 15:04:57

Franke - yes the Foxtrot has it difficulties, but I felt Ben was doing harder more exuberant techniques with kicks and difficult lifts that I don't think Mark could even have attempted.

Animation Tue 26-Nov-13 15:08:52

I also thought it strange Sophie saying her husband approved of the rumba. That may be where she's constrained then??

FushandChups Tue 26-Nov-13 15:40:44

I've seen all the series apart from No2 (which Jill Halfpenny won) so sadly I know too much. The first ever person to ever be voted off - so first out, season 1 - killed himself. He was an impressionist although can't remember his name (and don't think it was because of Strictly!)

Anyway - my favourite Rumba was Cherie & James (I do think James is the best rumba choreographer - they are always gorgeous!)

ppeatfruit Tue 26-Nov-13 15:45:57

Have you got the Monkseal link DuPain ? pretty please grin

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Tue 26-Nov-13 16:06:12

Here you go! Enjoy!

JaneEyresHeir Tue 26-Nov-13 16:32:52

grin DuPain, Monkseal is on top form this week: the MN reference made me laugh, as did Brenda's progress from last week's 'Snood of Despair' to the ''V-Neck of Despond'!
His comments on Fiona's article which he linked to in the Telegraph are very funny.

DuckToWater Tue 26-Nov-13 17:44:40

I preferred it when they all did the same dance at once (or one of two dances, was it?), so you could compare better. It's not fair when someone has a <Jazz hands> dance like the Charleston while others have a Viennese Waltz or Foxtrot, which are harder to master and put on a real performance with.

ppeatfruit Tue 26-Nov-13 17:57:00

Thanks so much DuPain It's sooo funny I love it and he's right too grin

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Tue 26-Nov-13 18:11:46

Duck, I know, it doesn't make any sense to have them all doing different dances! I have contacted the Beeb about it more than once. Sad but true. They probably have me on a 'nutters' list.

DuckToWater Tue 26-Nov-13 18:13:52

They probably say it's more "entertaining"...it isn't though.

Definitely not more entertaining, I want to be able to compare dancers. Some dances always look more "interesting", eg a well danced Samba will always be more exciting for the viewing public than a good Waltz.

It'll be interesting to hear Karen's thoughts tonight.

Maryz Tue 26-Nov-13 19:32:54

[arf] at Monkseal and double [arf] at his penis beaker reference.

Zhx3 Tue 26-Nov-13 21:17:36

Is Monkseal a "he"? I wasn't sure.

I laughed my way through this week's performance review!

Maryz Tue 26-Nov-13 21:22:36

Oh, I'm not sure, now you mention it.

He might well be a she.

EvilRingahBitch Tue 26-Nov-13 23:21:25

Monkseal is a (gay) bloke - he was on Only Connect a few years ago, with his boyfriend I think.

Results recap is now up. Here

And I have finally found myself a SCD name, <<twirls>> just in time for the final winnowing of the chaff.

HarrietJonesPM Wed 27-Nov-13 08:03:05

My favourite bit from that one was
or write some fan-fic where Iveta and Mark travel around in a van solving mysteries (Solution : it was Iveta, it was ALWAYS Iveta, EVERY time, but if Mark tell anyone SHE CRUSH HIM).

FushandChups Wed 27-Nov-13 10:21:01

Ha ha Harriet. I have to agree with Monkseal that their partnership seems very genuine with a lot of fondness on both sides. But then,I love Iveta - she is my favourite pro by a mile smile

Horsemad Wed 27-Nov-13 14:58:12

Grrr! Still haven't seen Sat & Sun's programme as internet on tv kept chucking me off. Will try again tonight & will resort to watching on laptop if necessary.

EvilRingahBitch Wed 27-Nov-13 15:06:04

I loved that picture of Mark and Iveta. Because so few of the pros/slebs are single, and because of the various rumours that circulated last year, I find it difficult to get enthusiastic about any of the pairs' relationships this year (apart from Robin of course) - any mention of "special bond"s makes me shudder. But I am warming to Mark and Iveta. It's technically possible that they're having a torrid marriage-wrecking affair, but I suspect not.

Horsemad Wed 27-Nov-13 15:36:00

Just seen Ashley & Ola & I think she could be pregnant - dress very unforgiving & she looks bigger in the boobs!
Hmm, I wonder!

Also, I noticed Ola wasn't wearing a wedding ring (no idea if this is normal for her or not).

Horsemad Wed 27-Nov-13 15:44:50

Just read my pp back and meant I've just seen Ashley & Ola's dance from Sat night, not that I'd just seen them grin

ppeatfruit Wed 27-Nov-13 16:11:12

Well I can do the basic waltz steps now but they don't go further IFYSWIM there are other steps following which they ignore in their 'class', it's good they're actually doing it though grin.

DuckToWater Wed 27-Nov-13 18:35:19

I thought Ola looked in the early stages of pregnancy as well.

I have a conspiracy theory about Ben; I see he is signed up with after dinner speaker agency and December is the most lucrative and busiest month....

digerd Wed 27-Nov-13 19:07:19

Ian was on ITT just now and he demonstrated the samba bounce . Tess joined in and I must congratulate her in doing a good job in those massive killer heels < left me wondering how on earth she managed itconfused>

FushandChups Wed 27-Nov-13 20:11:11

Tess or Zoe, Digerd? I've always disliked Tess on ITT so if she actually did something for a change, then maybe I'm being unfair?

Horsemad Wed 27-Nov-13 20:19:34

It was Zoe, she was wearing ridiculously high heels!! Can't believe she was able to do it. grin

EvilRingahBitch Wed 27-Nov-13 20:42:02

Zoe was a brilliant dancer in her series - albeit 8 years ago now, which is why she can still pull off those moves in sky high heels, rather than Claudia's Bambi-on-ice techniques.

I think I read that her mother was a professional dancer, so it's in the blood (she certainly didn't get it from her father).

EvilRingahBitch Wed 27-Nov-13 20:46:32

Here is a clip of Zoe reprising her notoriously accomplished Samba as part of a pro routine.

digerd Thu 28-Nov-13 06:48:43

Opps, I meant Zoe.

digerd Thu 28-Nov-13 07:01:21

Ooh, that link was lovely - thanks. I don't remember seeing that one.
Gorgeous samba music too. Zoe was a lovely dancer. Was/is her mother called Janet Ball who danced with Brucie - more ballet than ballroom- on TV in the 50s?

EvilRingahBitch Thu 28-Nov-13 07:16:50

No, and actually on googling I may have been wrong about her mum - JB talked about his wife dancing, but that was probably his second wife, not Zoe's mum. Very talented dancer wherever it came from.

ppeatfruit Thu 28-Nov-13 09:46:22

Oooh EvilRingah I can't get that link it tells me "an error has occurred try later". sad

TheSontaranPussycat Thu 28-Nov-13 10:44:47

I just watched it - but it is v low res. Must have a look at some SCD dances from before I was persuaded to become a viewer.

digerd Thu 28-Nov-13 11:34:23

Zoe's mum is called Julia. Zoe had a baby girl at 39 in 2010 and already had a 10 year-old boy.
The video quality is not very good unfortunately.

When I come out of a link pc goes back to opening icons page. Been doing it for 2 days nowconfused.

CloudOfStarlings Thu 28-Nov-13 13:57:09

trucksanddinosaurs Ben said on ITT that he only came on the show to promote his anti-bullying foundation... but I saw a tweet yesterday from Kristina to him saying she'd be very strict with him on the live tour...so I assume he's invested in Strictly for a little longer now!

Ooh good for Bensmile

EvilRingahBitch Thu 28-Nov-13 18:53:15

Sorry for the flaky link - I was posting from phone so couldn't quite tell how blocky it was - but it does give a bit of a sense of the quality of her action. There don't seem to be any dances from the first three series on Youtube, only a few hand held recordings from those dancers doing the tour, and Jill's Jive <<yawn>> on the the Showstoppers DVD.

Johnny-come-latelies will have to take our word for it that Zoe, Denise and Colin, in particular, produced some really fantastic dances.

digerd Thu 28-Nov-13 19:01:01

I knew my opinion of Ben being nice was rightsmile

ITT tonight with Natalie and Artem. Her American Smooth should be brilliant.
Poor Mark with his bad knees and flat feet doing the Sambasad
Patrick doing the Charleston.
Darcy also on now. "They have to smooth out all those fuzzy edges this week".

CloudOfStarlings Thu 28-Nov-13 22:40:07

Yes, Denise, Colin & Zoe were all amazing! In fact I've just voted for Zoe as the best female never to win on monkseal's blog smile ...have to say that during her series I didn't have much love for her but I wish I had appreciated her more now cos looking back I can see she was amazing! Love watching her and Ian on ITT, she's so funny. (Still no Claud, but she is the next best thing!)

Also meant to say earlier about Sophie & her husband, I think it's unfair to say she's under his thumb, or whatever. I think they're really sweet and they want people to know they take their marriage really seriously (very lovely article about their relationship here which I think shows she is a very private person)... but at the same time, I think it would have been a jokey/passing comment that he said it was a rumba he was comfortable with - there's no way he's standing in the training room dictating what they can do! hmm

CloudOfStarlings Thu 28-Nov-13 22:49:19

Oh sorry, that isn't the article that talks about her being private-
this one is
if you can't be bothered to read it all this is the main quote I'm referring to-

'But when I suggest that Strictly viewers might be expecting an ice queen, since that’s part of the image she’s played with, she's hurt and affronted. “I don’t really play with anything,” she frowns and curls a defensive arm around her knees. “I really think it’s not helpful to think about yourself from a third-person point of view. I have my really good girlfriends I’ve known since I was 11. I’ve got a lot of people I’ve worked with for a long time. Those are the relationships I nurture. I cannot control how people see me.”
She pauses and softens. “I think it’s more that I started out in my pop career in the S Club 7 era. Everything was very shiny and smiley and I thought I should be more you-don’t-have-to-like-me-if-you-don’t-want-to. And I think it was a protective measure because I remember thinking that if I hold some of myself back then there’s still things people can find out about me in 10 years if I’m still successful. And if I’m not, then I go home having kept something personal.” '

ppeatfruit Fri 29-Nov-13 09:21:07

Thanks CloudOf All 3 of our adult DCs are on the edges of showbiz and at one time i wanted them to become stars but seeing all the flak and gossip that goes on about even D listers i'm really pleased they're not. I don't blame Soph for trying to keep something back at all.

digerd Fri 29-Nov-13 12:43:58

I remember Colin and Denise, they were both fab and not trained dancers. I think it was Denise's Rumba I admired the most - she wore a light aqamarin/bluish dress? Think the male judges complained about her feet being stiff, but Arlene said the feet are only 9" of the whole body and the rest of her was lovely.
Colin was a natural but didn't quite have the macho personality of the male winner. Was that the cricketer <my memory is not as good as it was these daysblush
Pity there are no videos on You Tube to refresh my memory.

EvilRingahBitch Fri 29-Nov-13 12:48:30

It was Darren Gough, the Dancing Wardrobe. Feel lucky not to have your memory of him unrefreshed <<still bitter>>

digerd Fri 29-Nov-13 12:54:54

I have just found Denise and Ian doing that lovely expressive Rumba on You Tube and there are other dances they did in 2004 Strictly
Can't link as all attempts failed blush, but found it on Google under Denise Lewis on Strictlysmile.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Fri 29-Nov-13 13:14:44

Oh that's a bit mean (although Colin was better). This is much nicer than some of the stuff we get now (excuse the Christmas music.)

HarrietJonesPM Fri 29-Nov-13 13:21:08

Was it Darren Gough who went into his sons school and tried to make dancing cool?

CloudOfStarlings Fri 29-Nov-13 13:30:25

Colin Jackson should have won.. need we mention what ruined his chances?? Puppetgate! I supported him the whole series until that showdance then even I voted for Darren Gough.. I'm sure Erin regretted it..feel sorry for her that she didn't get a chance to make it right with Austin Healey (who I loooved)

SoupDragon Fri 29-Nov-13 13:35:06

I've just spent a happy 10 mins or so watching Louis smith & Flavia do their show dance form last year's final smile

HarrietJonesPM Fri 29-Nov-13 13:44:56

No not puppetgate!

FushandChups Fri 29-Nov-13 13:59:41

Colin was robbed - ROBBED! I too am still very bitter, he was just amazing and of all the series, he is the one who should have won and didn't. . bloody dummy dance (unfortuantely, I think this is on YouTube somewhere and as I've posted before - his little face when he first comes our proper breaks my heart sad!)

Clayhead Fri 29-Nov-13 14:26:08

Every year someone mentions the p word and then I have to sit and cry for a week all over again... confused

I blame Erin angry

digerd Fri 29-Nov-13 18:16:27

Polkadots

Darren was awesome in that Quickstep -wow.

ppeatfruit Sat 30-Nov-13 09:43:48

Soo does anyone reckon that shrieking song from Showgirls is 'good' music ? 'cos I effing don't grin

Chitty Chitty is not my idea of good music either. I like Good Morning though, anyone think of one they like?

digerd Sat 30-Nov-13 11:19:47

Chitty chitty bang bang is childish fun.

digerd Sat 30-Nov-13 11:22:32

Good Morning from Singing in the Rain is nice and bouncy for a tapdance

digerd Sat 30-Nov-13 11:35:35

Think I liked Natalie's for her American Smooth, but can't remember its name?

ppeatfruit Sat 30-Nov-13 13:13:37

Yes digerd the music is not very inspiring is it? The staging will probably be OTT again sad

Interesting discussion with the 3 guest judges in IT2 yesterday I noted that not one of them reckoned that Natalie will win.

AndiMac Sat 30-Nov-13 15:07:43

Kara was a ringer the year she went in and still won. Who knows the minds of the great proletariat?

RedPencils Sat 30-Nov-13 16:23:28

I don't normally like a theme week but I love musicals so I don't mind this week.

I love the Dreamgirls song in the film, Jennifer Hudson is amazing. But, I think in the wrong hands like the strictly singers it'll be a bit screechy. Loved the bit on ITT when Natalie was singing and artem turned the music off.
I

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 16:34:49

Kara was more likeable and there was the whole aww Artem thing

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Sat 30-Nov-13 17:06:30

Was Kara a ringer? I thought she won because she was purty and she and Artem had the whole TV Romance Thing.

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 17:40:07

I think Kara had some sort of training - not in the same league as Natalie but stage school I think? She did seem to be a bit ahead of the other slebs to start with but not to the same degree as either Natalie or DVO (who wasn't likeable either!)

I'm out at a 40th tonight so will miss it all... argh sad

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Sat 30-Nov-13 17:42:47

Loads of them have been to stage school, haven't they? I really don't remember any 'training' controversy about Kara, but maybe everyone just liked her enough that it didn't matter!

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 18:58:04

<swish jacket tails through seat back. Takes cocktail. Surveys the room with a quizzical air>

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 18:59:34

yes, it's Follow the Fleet...

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:03:14

Ooooh - my lift is getting me closer to 8th so hooray grin I get to watch some Strictly!

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:04:10

It's show time!

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:04:16

8pm of course! Love musicals but never sure about theme weeks (other than Halloween - love Halloween!!)

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:05:39

And Follow the Fleet starter!grin

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:08:15

<shallow> they should have made Brendan Captain instead of Anton.

<sympathetic> poor mark dancing on the steps

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:08:49

I love watching Anton dance when he's not in the actual competition.. weird!

Not overly enamoured with that group Charleston - could've been a lovely group ballroom number.. They don't do enough of those anymore sad

Tess' dress is not very nice this week... is it a two piece?

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:10:08

Alijaz is much better away from Abbey
<fans self>
And Artem and Pascha as sailors
<dizzy>

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:10:14

<also shallow> weird bodice on Tess's dress....

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:11:17

love Craig grin

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:12:18

That was a magnificent entry from Craig grin

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:12:22

Anton is revolting and getting worse. All gurney and slimy.

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:13:13

Craig's surgeon must be proud grin

Ziggyzoom Sat 30-Nov-13 19:13:18

Tess's boobs need a hoik!

<plumbs the depths of shallow>

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:13:32

Anya...oooh. Sending Aliona out to the shops again.

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:13:51

Hi everyone! Love musicals, hope the music's good tonight! smile

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:13:55

YY I thought tess's dress was strange
I have only just turned over - what is MARK wearing?!?

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:14:35

Tests needs a bra intervention. She normally has a great figure but that dress is odd

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:14:49

Hello everyone smile

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:14:54

Evenin' Olivia

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:15:11

How fickle you are Pan wink

There is no depth/millimeteres of shallowness on SCD threads grin All is valid.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:16:19

I have hidden depth to my shallowness, Fids.

Minimammoth Sat 30-Nov-13 19:16:34

A bit clunky, I thought.

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:17:01

My goodness - how much energy has Patrick got?! That was exceptional and I was quite 'meh' when it started!

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:17:09

That was pretty good for a big bloke. And he loved it.

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:17:57

Is he the beast Olivia?

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:18:11

Wish Bruce would butt out though sad

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:18:20

Didn't think that worked as a Charleston myself - obviously Len doesn't agree with me!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:18:21

YY I suddenly noticed how tall Patrick is = those trousers make his legs look like pipe cleaners

I thought it was a bit rushed at the end though like last week.

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:18:33

I liked that but it didn't excite me. Something missing?

Yes to Tess crap dress/needs bra intervention

And wow at Craig's movement shock

Minimammoth Sat 30-Nov-13 19:19:38

Oh I must gave watched a different dance. < hides behind sofa>

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:19:39

I think its quite easy to impress with a charleston. I still don't like Patrick <joins everyone in shallow end>

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:19:49

That was good.

TemporaryAlias Sat 30-Nov-13 19:19:57

Already had three "shut up Forsyth"s and we are only 15 minutes in

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:20:46

Wow!

Minimammoth Sat 30-Nov-13 19:20:48

Have.

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:20:53

Not worh 10s imo.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:21:04

Really judges?! confused

TemporaryAlias Sat 30-Nov-13 19:21:31

10 shock

Noooooo!

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:21:55

worth

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:21:58

<snort> at Abbey's face

Craig "spectacular" and then an 8 when he's given 9s for worse routines? I still love him and want to go out for cocktails and gossip with him, though.

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:21:58

Quite enjoyedit, but not worth 3 x 10s IMO.
Scores have been odd this series.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:22:06

I predict most people will be getting tens tonight then...

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:22:56

Really?

Why bother judging any more.

He looked like a pipecleaner puppet to me - too tall, too frantic.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:23:42

That looks like Circus Space
I went there in my youth.

HRHwheezing Sat 30-Nov-13 19:23:50

One of my fav strictly dances. Ever.

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:24:59

Maybe its the tall that looked wrong to me.

Craig often scores lower when the others over score. May e that's the plan tonight?

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:25:16

Also - are Artem and Kara whatsit still going out?

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:25:36

What does Artem do to his teeth? They glow!

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:25:55

Olivia Think so
<sigh>

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:25:56

Don't like artem's suit much. Was nice though smile

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:14

Was her hair meant to look like that at the end?

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:16

There was no way 60% of that was in hold!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:19

Looks like Natalie had a hairdo crisis - she looks sad.

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:33

Natalie's face looked like she sucked lemons!!!

Love her dress though

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:41

And porkpiehatman needs moving back to be in the shot!

DameEdnasBridesmaid Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:53

It didn't fit him properly

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:55

What happened to Kara then?
I haven't seen her since - and that was ages ago.

MrsBramleyApple Sat 30-Nov-13 19:27:05

She is so smug!!!!!
Now my darling Ben has gone, I want Suzanna to win!!!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:27:46

I liked it, I thought the lifts were good, but I don't really think it was an American Smooth - more like a showdance.

TemporaryAlias Sat 30-Nov-13 19:28:05

oh god, I predict more tens for this. nice dress though

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:28:10

She looks rather pre-occupied doesn't she?

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:28:11

I agree - miss Porkpiehatman!

Lift at the beginning was the best part for me.
I don't know that song, which makes it less enjoyable somehow!

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:28:30

While waiting for her critique he doesn't look surprised by comments! Like she expects it

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:29:10

Len agrees with me.

I was wrong, it has to have 40% on hold, not 60. Although I still don't think it had that.

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:29:21

Quite right Len!

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:29:38

Olivia Think she recently did a West End production - would look it up but am busy drooling over Artem.

Might have been Noel Coward-esque.

TemporaryAlias Sat 30-Nov-13 19:29:50

Len talks sense

DameEdnasBridesmaid Sat 30-Nov-13 19:29:57

The song was rubbish

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:30:42

Tess dress is awful

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:31:13

olivia something on stage & film of The Sweeney

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:31:23

Arf at drooling fiderer

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:31:33

The colour of Tess's dress reminds me I need to buy grouting gunge for my porch tiles.

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:31:35

They love her.

I think we should quit having judges scores. They are just odd

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:32:00

What have they done to Mark? He needs a good week to finish on , not breaking his legs dressed as a lion!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:32:24

Aha.
Glad she is working.

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:32:33

Glad she isn't top! Maybe give her a reality check arrogant person she comes across is

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:32:48

I do like Artem 's suit

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:32:52

Ha ha - I'd forgotten it was the Lion King for Mark & Iveta.
When I saw his costume, I thought he was the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:32:57

I wouldn't fancy doing a samba with dodgy knees.

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:33:22

Love Iveta.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:33:43

Fiderer - harsh but funny about grouting

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:33:54

Bruno has only brought one number again hmm

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:34:18

Iveta looks stunning

funnyosity Sat 30-Nov-13 19:34:31

I'd said Wizard of Oz!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:34:35

It's a bit slow - Iveta nearly got a concussion on the spotlights then!

Evening all. have we been shock at what Tess is wearing yet? grin Bit late.

thenightsky Sat 30-Nov-13 19:34:58

Weknowwhoyouare DH calls porkpiehatman 'Jabba the Hat'

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:34:59

I foresee some V low scores.

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:35:06

Ds says they should cancel tonight.. Surely mark must go?

Late to the thread, we were eating dinner! I said to DH "They've only done 3 bars in hold!" I was very relieved when Len said the same!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:35:28

Mary don't knock the tonioli
He is an ex-neighbour

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:35:37

oh dear sad and I love mark & Iveta but he looks like he's going to a fancy dress party in a homemade costume! No bounce - think this could be it, or but least it should be sad although Craig likes it shock

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:35:53

I thought Beauty and the Beast blush

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:36:09

Mark has really lost weight now. Much better than I expected.

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:36:23

He may not be 'the greatest dancer', but I do love Mark. That was such fun!

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:04

Iveta is beautiful but one can hear the bells toll..

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:28

Awww!

LucyElastic Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:29

pussy cat mark

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:29

Anyone else hear Monkseal's voice in their head when they see Iveta?
"He is King of Jungle. He deserves respect or he eats you and I spit out your bones"

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:36

Anyone else hear Monkseal's voice in their head when they see Iveta?

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:37

Sorry miss Olivia.

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:43

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 19:37:53

LucyElastic Sat 30-Nov-13 19:38:14

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:38:52

TemporaryAlias Sat 30-Nov-13 19:43:10

Not an expert, but I thought that was really good <shut up Forsyth>

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 19:43:13

That was some crazy camera work at the end, I feel dizzy!

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:43:15

Gorgeous grin absolutely gorgeous!

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:43:16

That was brill. Sway, timing, shape and she adored doing it.

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:43:43

Aww nice to see her do a dance she looks happy with

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:43:57

Just what I was thinking Darcey - felt dizzy watching that ending!

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:44:20

It looked gorgeous.

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:44:20

Her dance was better than Natalie's IMO

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:44:56

Wow complements for Brenda.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:45:07

yes better than Nat.

MrsBramleyApple Sat 30-Nov-13 19:45:23

Sophie's dance was one of the best I have ever seen. I am VERY glad that Miss Smug isn't top of the table!

Fiderer Sat 30-Nov-13 19:45:59

Len has been v complimentary re Brendan's choreography this series. I'd love an hour where the judges dissect the pros.
Love Sophie.

funnyosity Sat 30-Nov-13 19:46:54

So perfect for her wasn't it! Shame about the scores, I loved it.

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:47:01

I would give her a 10. Week after week they knock her and complain she has no confidence hmm

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:47:13

Much better than Natalie, who was overmarked.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:47:55

Break out the white suit...

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:49:14

I think abbey is a show off :-(

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:49:27

Abby is growing on me. I didn't like her much at first

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 19:50:02

is abbey a WAG?

Yes she's married to Peter Crouch. Didn't he do the dirty on her too?

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:51:00

Yes married to Peter Crouch.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:51:05

Judges will complaing there is too much disco I reckon

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 19:51:13

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:51:39

So how come they are allowed distractions other dancers?

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:51:49

She's always flicking her hair !!!not liking the extra dancers and gimmicks

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:51:59

Love a bit of disco...

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 19:52:05

and i liked patrick tonight, and Mark, but I wasnt concentrating on Sophie, and didnt bother to watch Natalie.

Noseynoonoo Sat 30-Nov-13 19:52:17

Peter Crouch slept with prostitutes and after the story came out, Abbey forgave him and promptly became pregnant.

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:52:28

She looks much prettier with curly hair. I really liked that dance as well.

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:52:49

Abby's face did my head in.. proper gurny gurn. For me, that was the first time that I thought Aljaz looked amazing smile I do love a bit of disco though. I smell 10's!

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 19:53:45

Grease meets Sat Night Fever..

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:54:33

Wow! Disco lives!

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 19:54:45

Would love love loved to have seen Natalie's face a that !!!!

I didn't think it was '40' good.

Noseynoonoo Sat 30-Nov-13 19:54:52

40 for a disco dance. Bizarre.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:54:57

I should be a judge.
<gavel>

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 19:55:24

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 19:55:57

Don't lots of people go out on rumbas?

Now you see I can't hear this without thinking of the oily orange. sad

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:58:07

Hey Ola

MrsBramleyApple Sat 30-Nov-13 19:59:35

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 19:59:38

Thought Ola got her heel caught at the end?

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 19:59:41

I really want to do rude things to Ashley but not sure about that. They both look great though smile

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 19:59:55

Sparkling - did you see the recent youtube with the actual recording?

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 20:00:03

Olivia, if you are going to quote me, could you fix my typos please?

grin

No Olivia is it really awful?

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 20:01:49

I thought that was great btw.

So he'll probably go out.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 20:02:07

grinMaryz - done cba to correct my own

I love Susannah, I don't care what anyone else says.

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 20:03:35

Kevin from Grimsby is fab

Rumba's very hard for the Sleb men as it is really the woman's dance. It is a very hard line to walk between just standing there while the woman dances around him and overdoing it and looking camp.

thistlelicker Sat 30-Nov-13 20:05:46

Did she mess up some steps there?

That was a bit frantic.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 20:06:45

I think there were a few bits that went a bit wrong.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:01

ooh not so good...messy and a bit gone.

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:11

shame for susanna,

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:17

Yes, I thought so, thistle

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:24

what did Craig say?!

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:25

I thought feet weren't that great & then Craig said it maybe I'm learning

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:35

I think she messed up a bit and slipped at the end.

Which is a pity.

Horsemad Sat 30-Nov-13 20:07:51

Not their best.

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 20:08:00

But I think lots of people like her, and her journey and they will vote.

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 20:08:19

she wont go out though, she is surely popular?

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 20:08:47

I disagree with Len - that was ok but not incredible.. I don't really know much about technique but even I noticed she went a bit wrong in places!

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 20:08:54

7's and 8s?

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 20:09:18

She didn't have a good week last week. Wonder if she's peaking?

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 20:09:36

Noooo - don't mention the j word, Olivia!

FushandChups Sat 30-Nov-13 20:09:44

Where was Bruno just then?

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 20:09:55

That was not 9!grin

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 20:10:07

I'm with Pan rather than Len& Bruno

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 20:10:12

With those marks, Natalie might be bottom two.

Which means whoever else is there will go. I hope it isn't Sophie. Or susannah or Ashley. But it could easily be.

I think Susanna will be in the bottom 2 with Mark.

Craig said something like "I thought you were going to fall flat on your face but sadly you didn't". He meant gladly grin

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 20:11:34

they werent that iimrpessed with natalie though this week

EvilRingahBitch Sat 30-Nov-13 20:11:38

Unable to read thread as the app and my phone are not co-operating, so will just say:

A) Alijaz's shameless mugging to the camera when doing the pointy thing in his dance (was Abbey there?) has led to me having to give DD a brief dissertation on the meaning of camp. Great dance though, and to be fair Abbey was much more of a participant than Suzanna in Kevin's paso.

B) as already shown in his Cowboy Paso, years of Hollyoaks dialogue have given Ashley the ability to commit fully to even the most ludicrous scenario

C) shockingly when Bruce and Len rabbit on about how great everyone is and how it's the Best Night Evaah, I actually find myself agreeing with them.

its up to the public though isnt it, who is in the bottom 2

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sat 30-Nov-13 20:12:55

At least if Susanna's in the bottom two she can get the steps right. There's something she can actually do to make it much better IYSWIM.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 20:15:31

Guess for the final places?

Nat
Suzanna
Abby
Mark

One of those may not actually make it....

LucyLasticKnickers Sat 30-Nov-13 20:16:20

i think patrick is good.

thenightsky Sat 30-Nov-13 20:20:40

Don't like Suzanna (there, I've said it) and I'd be happy to see her go. She is too 'gurney' of face.

JaneEyresHeir Sat 30-Nov-13 20:22:39

Monk Seal was hilarious about her gurning in the cha cha!

DameEdnasBridesmaid Sat 30-Nov-13 20:24:24

nightsky I agree. I really want to like Suzanna but there us something I cant't quite put my finger on with her. I prefer Abby and am really surprised that I think that.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 20:27:59

I think Patrick will struggle a lot when they have to do two dances in one week. Age re quickness of learning and the stamina needed. Sorry P!

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet (MNHQ) Sat 30-Nov-13 20:34:08

Do they start doing two dances from next week?

Impomea Sat 30-Nov-13 20:36:49

Did Abbey dance ok? I could not take my eyes off Alijaz just fantastic almost as good as Travolta !

digerd Sat 30-Nov-13 20:41:21

It was Artem's choreography that the judges didn't like. Natalie's expression was more like in a Paso than a Fred and Ginger style American Smooth.
Mark just amazes me as he was bending his knees but not a double bend which produces the bounce.
Patrick gave it his all and was sweating profusely. Craig was right that he lost control of the last lift .
Sophie's shoulders were too high most of the time, but all those turns she managed well.
I didn't think Abbey Salsa was very good, she looked awkward and her body didn't swa, flow,or have hip movements and her legs were too stiff.
Also footwork lacked strength/balance.
Susanna's footwork not quick and precise enough in the Quickstep.
Ashley gave a good performance but choreography was bit tame.

digerd Sat 30-Nov-13 20:42:14

sway

thenightsky Sat 30-Nov-13 20:50:50

who is 'monk seal'? link me to his comments about suzanna if you can please.

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 20:54:09

two dances - iirc it's before the final, but the format changes so I don't really know. But of the three places up for grabs, I'm thinking that P is game and good but not best for the intensity. IF Suzanne stays with Nat re quality she could win through her wider popularity base on the GBP vote.

But it's all fab with the swirls, outfits, celebration of shallowness, and hairless chests no matter who actually wins.grin

yesbutnobut Sat 30-Nov-13 20:57:42

Don't think it's 2 dances just yet - but next week they will do a 'swingathon'.

digerd interesting that you didn't rate Abbey. Who was your favourite tonight?

Maryz Sat 30-Nov-13 20:58:14

It must surely be two next week. There are only three shows left, aren't there?

DaveBussell Sat 30-Nov-13 21:06:23

The music was loads better this week but the camerawork was as bad as i've known it - so much of the dancing is missed because they are filming the extras or the pro dancer instead of the celeb or the top half only etc. In Abbey's dance they actually cut halfway through to a shot of the mirro-ball ffs!

Snowstorm Sat 30-Nov-13 21:15:04

I don't usually pay too much attention when Patrick dances but I thought that their dance tonight was amazing.

Great show tonight but I miss Pasha ...sad ...

Pan Sat 30-Nov-13 21:16:25

Mary if it's 3 shows left then poss it's 2 dances week after next, then the final. When they have to do 12 dances whilst balancing Bruno on their noses whilst clapping like seals. Easy.smile
Sophie is amazing for being so good with laddio and having had three children in recent years (each with pre-eclampsia). She has 'poise'. And a fascinating jaw line.

DameEdnasBridesmaid Sat 30-Nov-13 21:18:08

The music was better but really, musicals? How could they fail? Although Dream Girls was dire and frankly they could've chosen any number of better Lion King songs.

Tunes have been poor this season. Fact.

birdbrain21 Sat 30-Nov-13 21:21:43

next week is one dance as normal and then the swingathon where they are all on the floor at the same time and one by one the judges tell them to leave.

I really enjoyed tonight but don't understand the judges sometimes.
I think we should be able to vote for who want in the bottom two instead of who we want to save...

Hope lots of people voted for mark this week. I totally agree that he's not the best anymore but he's such a lovely guy and tries so hard and Iveta is brilliant I think they deserve a 'week off' not in the dance off before they actually go out

Weknowwhoyouare Sat 30-Nov-13 21:22:03

I like swingathon week. Bit better to compare them.

[www.monkseal.wordpress.com Monseal's blog]] for whoever was asking further down, enjoy!

birdbrain21 Sat 30-Nov-13 21:25:08

I mean the judges tell them to leave the dance floor!

I think my faves for the final are suzzanah, sophie, abbey and ashley and don't really care who wins out of those four. Natalie is too smug for me, Mark is lovely but not a good enough dancer, Patrick is a bit meh his charleston tonight was good but didn't find myself loving it and I love charlsetons even natalies...

Monkseals blog sorry, wine/phone/fat fingers combo going on here wink

RedPencils Sat 30-Nov-13 21:26:04

I really loved tonight's show. Think that's the right amount of slebs for me, I drift off when there's too many of them.

Abbey and Sophie were my favourites. Best dance for both of them.
Patrick was good and I really like Anya.
Natalie was ok, I think that the combination of downbeat song and Artem's choreography let her down. Len doesn't like the faffing about, he always pulls him up on it.

Thenightsky - Monkseal is a Strictly blogger. He does an affectionate piss take every week. Google Mighty Monkseal when you've got a couple of hours to spare. Vv funny.

MsInterpret Sat 30-Nov-13 21:34:27

Ooh,was watching on catch up and then just missed the voting cut off! Dammit.

I would have given mine to Sophie & Brendan. Told her to bring it this week and she did, well done girl! And maybe one to Abbey & Aljaz. For Aljaz's bottom.

Liked Patrick's dance but just can't get excited about him and he doesn't seem that bothered - when Tess asked 'Are you happy...?' or whatever he just tightly said, 'oh yes, extremely happy' in a tense way I thought. I mean, we all know Tess' comments are fairly inane but come on Patrick! Get in the SWING of Strictly and camp it up a bit! (is Patrick gay btw?)

Umm, Susanna ok, Mark fun but obv gotta leave, Ashley, yawwwn.

Nearly forgot Natalie! I was vair pleased with myself that I could tell it was a foxtrot-based American smooth, non-dancer that I am. And it was pretty and lovely but bit boring I thought. Like a dullish showdance.

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 08:28:38

The music was more enjoyable but nobody wowed me. I enjoyed watching Mark the most, oddly enough. Expect he will be in the bottom 2 again but who will join him this time?

RosinaCopper Sun 01-Dec-13 10:15:25

I know that Brucie is loved and loathed in equal measures, but I did laugh out loud at his off the cuff quip after the first dance - he's so much better when he's not reading the autocue.

If anyone missed it, Bruce handed Patrick his glass of water and asked him if he'd like a sip after his energetic charleston, and then as Patrick raised it to his lips, said, 'It's vodka!' which made Patrick splutter and even DH laughed (and he hates Brucie)

With the dances:

Watched the whole of Patrick, Sophie, Suzanna and Abbey. Fast forwarded bits of Natalie, Ashley and Mark.

I like Abbey (didn't think I would and it was the same with Penny Lancaster a few years back) Sophie and Suzanna, and think Suzanna has a real chance of winning.

Natalie is too good and I can't warm to her at all.

Love Mark and Iveta's partnership, but I think he's gone as far as he can in the competition, especially given his knee issues.

But meh about Patrick and Ashley.

FushandChups Sun 01-Dec-13 10:53:29

I voted for Mark (twice blush)

HRHwheezing Sun 01-Dec-13 11:51:03

Just watched back strictly. I don't get Abbie's high score.

Aljaz was amazing though. Perhaps too much of watching him.

birdbrain21 Sun 01-Dec-13 12:17:39

fush so did I!! I don't think he's good enough to get to the final but I think he deserves a week off from the dance off before he goes out...

ppeatfruit Sun 01-Dec-13 13:10:43

I'm fed up, we had friends for dinner last night so we watched just after the group dance sad and up to the efffing shriek song of Dream Girls and no more (I don't have a recorder or any of the up to date teccie stuff so I'll have to wait for Monkseal's precis grin)

WRF to Tess's bosom (shallow alert !!) She's got what my mum would call an "hour glass" figure "like the queen" so her boobs are low slung and IMO she doesn't choose the right dresses or bras to flatter her.

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 13:10:59

If Mark isn't in the dance off (and that tearfulness might just have saved him) then it's going to be interesting tonight. Abbey and Patrick have been in before so might be vulnerable even though they are very popular with the judges. I would hate to see that happen though, I thought they were both great.

If I could choose I would put in Susanna and Ashley and I wouldn't mind who went.

Something has got to be done about the camerawork for the dancing, who can I complain to??!

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 13:18:06

Agree ppeatfruit about Tess' dress - it was actually a very pretty dress but all the detailing on the bodice really highlighted the boob issue. Does she get much choice re her wardrobe? Even if she doesn't then you would have thought the right amount of support would be a basic thing for any dresser to ensure.

There's always been comments, including the Mighty Monkseal, re way Tess is often dressed as if someone in wardrobe hates her!

ppeatfruit Sun 01-Dec-13 13:29:47

DaveBussell dd2 has done styling and dressing on TV and the stars are given a 'choice' of a number of dresses that the stylists buy for them (depending on how big the budget is of course).

ppeatfruit Sun 01-Dec-13 13:31:46

Agree about the camerwork too and the staging is a bit hmm.

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 13:44:38

Oh that's interesting ppeat, so she would have chosen the dress herself? Would the dresser be expected to point out the need for 'support' in this dress?

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 13:56:36

I suppose the staging is sort of in the classic style for this type of show - variety theatre type thing. I don't mind it too much, it seems to suit the show.

The camerawork thing is really grating on me though. I don't expect them to focus on the feet all the time, I realise that they have to capture the atmosphere of the dance as a whole but to actually cut away as they did in the middle of Abbey's dance to home in on the mirror-ball and nothing else seemed really ridiculous. It means that we don't see half of what the judges do so sometimes makes their views on the dance hard to understand.

The one dance they did seem to film properly was Susanna's which helped to make it clear to me that she really couldn't cope with it.

Noseynoonoo Sun 01-Dec-13 14:31:21

Just watched Abbey again. How is that a 40? Craig says he only gives a 10 for perfection but there were at least 2 mistakes, 1 bit when she was standing still and most of it was a disco dance.

What do you think is the motivation for overmarking?

ppeatfruit Sun 01-Dec-13 14:50:20

Yes Dave she would choose the dress herself that's why I noticed BF commenting on how lovely she looked in that white number she wore last week (which she did IMO).

She has strange tastes!! She could be 'sensitive' about the correct underwear IFYSWIM grin The dress she wore yesterday would look lovely on some women but looked a bit odd on her!

WRF to the judging Noseynoo I didn't see the dance did Craig actually give a 10 ??? that's the first isn't it? IMO they don't seem to sit close enough and they sometimes don't see what the viewers see and vice versa (I would hope that they have special screens to help them but possibly not). Maybe one of the posters has been to see the show and noticed grin

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 16:57:39

I shouted at the TV < remind me of my late Grandadgrin at the camera angles especially in the opening pro dance of a group of dancers.
One was a shot of a face of only one of the dancersangry. Then they had half of them out of camera then zoomed back to get them all in.
But I have always been annoyed at the camera work on Strictly, missing feet, half the body, all of the couple. Dancing needs to show the whole body and when they separate the cameras must zoom out to get both of them in. Don't they do any practice runs during the dress rehearsal?
Is there anybody controlling the camera views?
I'll bark out ordersgrin

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 17:05:16

Where is my previous post from last night, can't find it? Or was it this morningblush? Did I post on the wrong Thread?blush

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 17:22:37

Phew found them blush

I agree with the few others about Abbey's not so perfect performance imo and was surprised at the comments and 10s. Also at Natalie's low marks although I didn't like the dance as an american smooth - too much drama and not enough smooth.

MrsBramleyApple Sun 01-Dec-13 17:46:45

Ben was on ITV at lunchtime today on some chat/cookery programme with Kaye Adams, Nadia Sawalha and Peter Andre. He was talking about his deafness, his Dad's death and how he dropped out of the 2007 Rugby World Cup Team to see his twins being born! He came across so well. He didn't realise for a long time what a gay icon he was. He said something very touching about always finding something nice to say to everyone you meet. I got the impression PA was a little jealous of Ben's pecs!!! wink

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 17:52:09

Was James dancing last night? There seemed the right number in the pro dance but couldn't see him

Maryz Sun 01-Dec-13 18:50:18

I wonder is that online MrsBA, I would love to see it.

I think he just seems to be a nice bloke - a good example to young rugby players in particular.

I didn't see the pro dance, Weknow, you I can't answer that.

MrsBramleyApple Sun 01-Dec-13 18:54:21

Maryz I think the programme was called Sunday Scoop.
Ben is an inspiration to young deaf people like my ds2 too! Last night I texted ds2 and said no Skype as SCD was on. "But Mumma, Ben not in it now!!??" "Yes but I still want to watch!" "Oh ok Mumma!!" grin

Horsemad Sun 01-Dec-13 18:56:47

I wouldn't say Tess is an hourglass shape - unless last night's dress didn't emphasise her waist, it looked to me as if she doesn't go in at the waist at all. She did need a better bra, definitely!

The colour didn't suit her either.

Maryz Sun 01-Dec-13 18:58:18

I'll see if I can find it, thanks.

My children don't believe he is deaf, so I'll try to get them to look at it.

Horsemad Sun 01-Dec-13 18:58:22

smile at your DS2 MrsBramleyApple!

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 19:13:11

I couldn't help wondering how her bra stayed up as seemed a little low. Was she wearing those transparent straps? Her dress looked like a mushroom colour to me and I loved the skirt.

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:20:53

MrsB that's so cute!
Ben seems such a lovely guy - what a great role model.
The only time I heard him mention his hearing loss in relation to the show was during his last interview on ITT - when asked about his last dance he said it was the one time he felt he was able to dance to the music, because he could hear it: every other time he coped by marking Kristina.
I thought it was telling that he didn't draw attention to this until after he'd actually left the competition.

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:24:26

Still no Natalie in pro dance ?

MrsBramleyApple Sun 01-Dec-13 19:24:45

He said in the programme that he relied a lot on Kristina because he couldn't hear the music and that he was gutted to go last week as it was the first week that he felt that he was in time to the music. He has severe tinnitus and relies on lip reading. I tweeted him right at the beginning of SCD and told him about ds2 and he replied!

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:25:29

No James & Aliona last night/tonight either.

Fiderer Sun 01-Dec-13 19:25:35

God I used to love Fame. The serious cello player and the keyboard lad who looked like a Muppet.

birdbrain21 Sun 01-Dec-13 19:26:52

Don't thimk James was dancing last night, if you read the strictly social website James posted that he had a takeaway and was about to watch strictly which made it sound as though he was at home. Maybe his back is still hurting him so he couldn't be bothered to go to the studio if he anyway couldn't dance...

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 19:28:31

That's what I wondered but I couldn't see the dancers well enough.

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:30:27

Why does Natalie look like she knows she is through already

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:30:55

MrsB - that's fab! No wonder you're such a big fan!

MrsBramleyApple Sun 01-Dec-13 19:33:11

this is the link to the programme Ben was on this lunchtime!!

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:33:12

I love Mark & Iveta, and their Lion King routine was great fun, but I can't see them surviving another dance off.

RedPencils Sun 01-Dec-13 19:33:29

Jane - I'm sure I saw aliona in the Tess put last night. James and robin are injured so they aren't dancing

It must be Marks week to go. Unless whoever they're against really messes up, I can't see who he can beat.

MrsBramleyApple Sun 01-Dec-13 19:34:10

Abby looks like she has been dragged through a hedge backwards.........
Alfie Boe now. Another song that reminds me of ds1.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 01-Dec-13 19:34:17

I wondered when we'd get Alfie Boe.

Badgerwife Sun 01-Dec-13 19:35:43

i can't see Mark surviving either but who's going to be against him? I'm hoping Sophie, I find her annoying for some reason, maybe it's the fake girlish prudishness

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:36:20

Loving Karens dress here but can't take to her dancing with kevin from Grimsby

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 19:36:21

No surprises there then.
Natalie was only one who didn't look nervous

SoupDragon Sun 01-Dec-13 19:36:29

Why do you think it's fake?

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:36:36

I didn't spot her Red - I wondered if she'd flounced off after complaining about being drafted in as a last-minute replacement for Natalie and then being deliberately paired with Tony Jacklin grin
Not that I believe everything I read in the papers, of course!

RedPencils Sun 01-Dec-13 19:39:44

I love Alfie Bowe. I think it's my age.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 01-Dec-13 19:40:15

Do we still reckon Ola's upduffed? I didn't really notice in that outfit.

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 19:40:53

grin if the papers are right Aliona will be pushing it to get back in.

Can't get Karen & Kevin at all, he seems so nice.

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 19:42:16

I keep trying to check Ola but only thingy though was her stomach used to be v toned.

RedPencils Sun 01-Dec-13 19:42:56

I'm not so sure about Ola, would she let ashley throw her around in training if she was?

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:43:17

The top half of Tess dress isn't nice :-/

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:44:12

Phew! Sophie and Brenda are safe!

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:44:25

I think I would rather see abbey win than Natalie! I just dislike Natalie but abbey you can see progression

Pan Sun 01-Dec-13 19:44:51

It doesn't really matter who is in the dance off does it? Up against Mark?

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:46:10

Natalie is so smug

Badgerwife Sun 01-Dec-13 19:46:44

she gives the impression that she's still squeamish about touching Brenda; Heaven forbid her husband should get the wrong idea. I know I'm completely unreasonable about this, she just annoys me.

Ashley! Mark is definitely out.

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 19:47:26

Thought it might be Ashley in the bottom 2. He is really nervous and Mark will not be. Hope Ashley doesn't make a mess of it.

Fiderer Sun 01-Dec-13 19:47:41

Good grief that dress that poor Sophie has and the hair is shockingly bad.

Badgerwife Sun 01-Dec-13 19:47:47

Artem was looking smug.

Badgerwife Sun 01-Dec-13 19:48:34

Sophie's dress looks like a Victorian nightie. Not good smile

Zoe's hair, omg shock

RedPencils Sun 01-Dec-13 19:48:59

Ashley should wear the waistcoat every week. <shallow>

The only one left that I actuallyvlike and would want to win is Patrick all the others are a bit meh for me.

RedPencils Sun 01-Dec-13 19:50:02

Sophie's dress was supposed to be a nightie.

RabbitRabbit78 Sun 01-Dec-13 19:51:36

Poor Mark's knees. I hope the poor chap gets to go home this week, I feel keeping him in is actively cruel at this point sad

Minimammoth Sun 01-Dec-13 19:52:07

I get the impression that Patrick is not that bovvered. Ashley's trying for a bit more hip.

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 19:52:57

I thought Mark would be happy to go considering his health probs but he was quite tearful about it in last night's show.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 01-Dec-13 19:53:25

I missed the patented Ola Jordan Latin kneeslide last night, nice to see it's still there!

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 19:53:53

Patrick couldn't dance like that if he wasn't bothered! He's just a cool guy and doesn't do the gushy thing which is fair enough.

thistlelicker Sun 01-Dec-13 19:54:41

Awww bye bye mark thanks

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:54:55

I love Sophie - I didnt expect to! Think it's the whole 'Head Girl - Keeper of the Chastity Belt' that Monk Seal goes on about!
I can't warm to Susanna at all - don't dislike her, but she's almost too confident and 'show-offy' when performing. Think she's very popular with the public.

RabbitRabbit78 Sun 01-Dec-13 19:55:27

He seems like such a genuinely nice chap. Awww.

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 19:56:14

Ashley seemed very upset and nearly in tears. Mark expected it and he did do a proper double knee bend but the bounce was too clodhoppy, bless him.

getdownshep Sun 01-Dec-13 19:56:47

Yes, no Bruce next weeksmile

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 19:56:55

Love Iveta.

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 19:57:34

Great partnership - will miss them.
'He is my family' <sniff>

Pan Sun 01-Dec-13 19:57:51

Iveta seems quite the person doesn't she?

trinitybleu Sun 01-Dec-13 19:59:28

Aliona was def there last night.

So, Claudia .... preggers or not? Slimmer fitting dress this week. I thought the huge apron last week was a total cover up!

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 20:01:00

Think Iveta must have got a popularity boost this year. They were a good couple.
Marks grin of relief when the votes went to Ashley.

digerd Sun 01-Dec-13 20:03:07

I think Tess might be?

Weknowwhoyouare Sun 01-Dec-13 20:04:45

Are we clutching at straws now? Len has got a bit of a belly grin

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 20:10:30

thanks MrsBramleyApple
- such a moving song. I love Colm Wilkinson singing it.

EvilRingahBitch Sun 01-Dec-13 20:11:32

Aw bless Mark. Two standing ovations and he was spared the swingathon, which I think would actually have crippled him. Did you notice that Claudia made a special point of coming to hug him farewell - I'm sure she doesn't do that for most people.

And no Bruce next week. Hurrah!

I really do hope they don't "get a man in" when Bruce retires. Claudia does the backstage job brilliantly, I can't think of anyone who could do it better, and although I can't say the same for Tess front of house it wouldn't be fair to sack her.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 01-Dec-13 20:11:32

Who did we think last year, Denise wasn't it? And Holly the year before.

One year there will be somebody and we'll probably miss it completely grin

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 01-Dec-13 20:12:10

I really like Iveta, I'm pleased she came back this year.

trinitybleu Sun 01-Dec-13 20:12:23

grin I thought the Claudia discussion was ongoing from a couple of weeks ago!

Horsemad Sun 01-Dec-13 20:26:49

Ola didn't look pg this week hmm perhaps she'd overdone it on the takeaways last week!!

ilovesooty Sun 01-Dec-13 20:39:42

What lovely people Mark and Iveta are.

Horsemad Sun 01-Dec-13 20:48:46

I agree ilovesooty

awaynboilyurheid Sun 01-Dec-13 20:59:48

JaneEyres so agree about Susanna just cant take to her either but everyone else I know likes her , like wee kevin tho, Loved Patryk's dance said to oh that was the dance of the series and then Tess said the dancers agreed felt chuffed!

GideonKipper Sun 01-Dec-13 21:02:06

I am gutted Ashley was in the dance off - I much prefer to watch his dancing than Patrick's. Guess I'm going to have to start voting if he's going to be in danger. Susanna gets on my tripe.

JaneEyresHeir Sun 01-Dec-13 21:05:10

Aye, Kevin's braw, so he is....

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Sun 01-Dec-13 21:10:19

Radio 2 is doing a special Friday Night Is Music Night next week, all based around Strictly (details here). It sounds really good.

DaveBussell Sun 01-Dec-13 21:12:32

I don't think Sophie is at all fake (as someone said above), I think she's genuinely quite a self-efacing sweet person - unusual of course in a pop star!

Pairing her up with Brendan was a bad idea, his ego is so overpowering I think it has swamped her confidence. Every week it just looks to me as if he's pushing and dragging her round the floor - I find it quite unpleasant to watch actually.

2rebecca Sun 01-Dec-13 21:18:48

Why are people here always wanting someone to be pregnant? When Natalie had her touch of the vapours the other week I'm sure the same folk were saying she was upduffed.
Must womens abdomen be totally flat at all times?

Thanks for that Polkadots, I thought I'd missed Strictly Music Night.

2rebecca Sun 01-Dec-13 21:19:23

I like Sophie, and dislike Natalie

member Sun 01-Dec-13 21:36:28

2Rebecca I don't think people necessarily want the women on strictly to be pregnant but when they market calendars/ do photo shoots to show off their dance-toned bodies , then those bodies are going to attract scrutiny.

AndiMac Sun 01-Dec-13 23:15:34

Was out last night and busy earlier today trying to finish the
Christmas shopping, so am halfway through a Strictly marathon. I've watched Saturday and the opening routine of Fame for Sunday. Obv letting myself see the spoilers of Mark going out, but that's not really a surprise, is it? Dear Mark, I did love his stuff. And always so good natured about some of the craptastic costumes they put him in!

First of all, before I give my opinions on the dances, where was lovely Robin?!?!?! Not my cup of tea (nor I his) but I still love watching him dance. Or am I about to be surprised by halfway through huge result show? He wasn't in the Saturday performance I know. There was some guy with a crew cut in the back dancing with one of the regular female pros during Fame, so that's James and Robin gone this week.

As for the dances, I loved Abbey's salsa. Probably because I'm a disco fiend, but I still thought her performance was great. Full of confidence, good moves and a finally a face with a bit of expression.

I liked the first half of Ashley's rumba, (very oo er!) and then I kind of lost interest, even before the heel through the harem trousers.

Patrick's first 2 lifts were great, but the rest was a bit meh for me. Sophie was nice, but I'm not really a Viennese Waltz fan. I'm in the anti-Natalie camp, so not excited by hers, (but I though well sung by the singer). Susan was a bit messy and I wish she'd just smile her own natural smile, as the gurning is putting me off a bit. Mark, ah yes. I still loved your MC Hammer routine best.

RedPencils Sun 01-Dec-13 23:24:56

Andimac - Robin is injured, I think his back.

Right decision this week, love Mark and Iveta but it was definitely his time.
I've gone off Suzanna a bit this week. Seems a bit too gushy and insincere.

AndiMac Sun 01-Dec-13 23:52:28

Only one thing to add now that I've seen the whole thing. I loved Zoe doing her Saturday Night Fever impersonation!!! Brilliant!

Oh, and I am also enjoying Tess and Claudia coming out with their matching tribute/take-the-piss out of the opening routine outfits. Oven gloves and aprons last week, leg warmers and head bands this week.

JaneEyresHeir Mon 02-Dec-13 00:02:40

Zoe's bit was fab - don't know how she can dance in those heels though!

I especially love Claudia when they do stuff like that - she doesn't mind looking slightly daft - eg headband a bit too low on the forehead or the condom-like bald-head thing she wore after Mark and Iveta's Bond-theme rumba. Tess never quite carries off the comedic element IMO, because she still likes to look good. But Claud gets right into it, which is so endearing - and funny!

FushandChups Mon 02-Dec-13 00:17:49

So sad to see Mark and the stunning Iveta leave but the right choice... as someone earlier mentioned, the swingathon would've annihilated him! was also sad to see him up against Ashley who I think is lovely too -but for slightly different reasons grin

I've never warmed to Susanna or Natalie so now want Sophie to triumph and get Brendan that glitter ball again (no pro had won the main show more than once, have they? I know it happens a lot on DWTS)

GideonKipper Mon 02-Dec-13 00:21:04

Claudia is great. Do you think she does her own make up? I would like to see her with less on the eyes, more on the lips.

GideonKipper Mon 02-Dec-13 00:26:10

So when the judges talk about chemistry, are they looking for a couple with sexual chemistry? A couple you could imagine were actually getting it together offstage (not suggesting anyone is of course!), or something more innocent?

The only couples I'd say who have any chemistry are Abbey and Aljaz and Ashley and Ola. The other couples might seem to get on well but there's no spark.

AndiMac Mon 02-Dec-13 08:34:05

I think there's the occasional spark between Susanna and Kevin. Not sexual, but just really good chemistry between them when they pull off a good number. Their waltz a few weeks ago had it imho.

No the judges arentclook

Oops! blush

As I was saying, the judges aren't looking for sexual chemistry, but they are looking for a connection between 2 people on the dance floor. There is a certain amount of performance/acting that goes into the dances, but the connection/chemistry is also seen as 2 bodies moving as a single unit. If it looks disjointed, or like one partner is dragging the other around the floor the "magic" of that connection is lost.

thistlelicker Mon 02-Dec-13 12:08:07

I didn't see or feel chemistry between Kevin and Karen during the pro dance with Alfie boe !!

ppeatfruit Mon 02-Dec-13 13:13:32

WRF to 'being gushy and insincere' there must be only so many times that you can answer really gushy and insincere repetitive questions about how you feel about getting 10s or whatever. Susannah is a serious woman so she must be getting pissed off with it (i would grin).

Agree about Zoe's dance it was effing brilliant.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Mon 02-Dec-13 16:26:04

I was baffled by Abbey's 10s. She seemed to lose energy several times, her legs looked stiff and wooden and she was a bit stop-and-start; there was little sense of that earthy, non-stop salsa 'groove' going from the ground through her feet and up through her body. Also others, in this series and past ones, have been criticised for putting in non-trad content like disco, hip-hop etc, so why was this OK?

Patrick was overmarked too, but his dance was at least energetic.

Mark and Iveta had to go, but they're so sweet and I really believe that they're the best of friends.

Sophie was bloodless and characterless as ever but the style of dance suited her more than some of the other dances, esp the Latin.

I loved Natalie. I appreciate all the reasons to dislike her, but I can't grin. And Artem's a sweetheart.

Susanna was not quite 'on' IMO, but I still enjoyed her dance.

Ashley was reliably dull and I thought the magic carpet was unspeakably naff and jarred with the more serious mood of the rest of the dance.

Tess needs a serious bra rethink.

No Bruce and more Claud next week – yay!

digerd Mon 02-Dec-13 17:48:28

* Cannock*
Absolutely what I thought about Abbey and I could see the difference between her and the pro's dancing and so could the judges, they were lying.

One question that baffled me. The opera singer who sang that song, Claudia said it was famous from the Sound of Music. I didn't recognise it.

One of my favourites is America from West Side Story, but can't think of a ballroom dance suitable - the Paso adapted maybe?

Or If You Could See me Now from Sweet Charity as a quickstep- yes!
Or Charleston?

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Mon 02-Dec-13 18:03:48

I fast-forwarded that performance, digerd grin So I can't help; sorry.

Zoe Ball did her showdance to 'America'. Think it included paso and maybe flamenco elements. I'm sure it's on YouTube. It was pretty good, as I remember (nto v well!).

Tom Thingy who went on to be in Top Hat did his showdance to 'If You Could See Me Now' –it had some tapdancing and, I think, some foxtrot/Fred and Ginger type ballroom elements.

Someone danced to the same song this series, I'm sure, but a different dance and therefore a different arrangement... It might have been a Charlston actually, or a quickstep. Can't quite recall.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Mon 02-Dec-13 18:40:03

The one Alfie Boe did? It was Bring him Home from Les Mis.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Mon 02-Dec-13 18:42:31

Dig I've heard a swung version of America used as a jive before.

ppeatfruit Tue 03-Dec-13 10:25:53

Agree about Abbie digerd and TheHeadless* the clip they kept showing of her dancing with the girl profs. was weird because NONE of them looked particularly good IMO fgrin

I LOVE LOVE LOVE ALL the music from the film of West Side story IMO it's the best musical ever made !!!!

Fiderer Tue 03-Dec-13 10:32:11

They had 2 Fred&Ginger films on TV a few Saturdays back. I abandoned all plans and lay on the sofa watching them. Bliss.

Did not get Craig's justification of a 10 for Abbey & Alijaz on ITT.

ppeat I love WSS too but my all time favourite is High Society (despite Grace Kelly) "End of storrrreeey" grin

AndiMac Tue 03-Dec-13 10:35:24

I agree with Craig. Abbey looked like confident doing the dance, all the moves looked good and the whole thing fit with Craig's sense of performance and show.

ppeatfruit Tue 03-Dec-13 10:59:02

I like High Society too but it's not Grace Kelly who annoys me in it it's 'grandad' Bing Crosby;he's just a bit too old for a 20 year old doncha think? Give me Frank Sinatra any time (iknow he's old too but only old enough to be her dad fgrin!!

ppeatfruit Tue 03-Dec-13 11:00:37

Yeah let's make this thread about musicals not silly old SCD hahahaha !!

Helloo. Brendan and Sophie are on Loose Women today if anyone's about.

FushandChups Tue 03-Dec-13 12:58:04

If we're talking best musicals ever - has to be Starlight Express! I would love to see a couple do something to one of those songs.. There is basically a song in every style so should be able to knock something up?

Horsemad Tue 03-Dec-13 13:40:00

Agree Fush, Starlight Express is one of my favourites, along with Cats.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Tue 03-Dec-13 14:33:54

Musicals are full of that though, look at The Sound of Music, South Pacific and My Fair Lady. Or Easter Parade, although falling in love in that one does make a bit more sense.

I love State Fair (although people haven't usually heard of it) and The Slipper and the Rose.

digerd Tue 03-Dec-13 14:34:22

I still love 7 Brides for 7 Brothers. Those male dancers were brilliant.
Also George Chakiris from WSS was a superb dancer with great spanish style.

digerd Tue 03-Dec-13 14:37:15

Thanks Sparklingbrook, I turned TV on just in time to see them smile

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Tue 03-Dec-13 14:37:37

I didn't realise for years that Anita in West Side Story is played by the same actress as Tuptim in The King and I.

ppeatfruit Tue 03-Dec-13 15:21:34

Yes thanks Sparkling I like Sophie more than Brendan she has more depth IYSWIM. He must piss her off a bit.

I love Rita Moreno Polka Her interview on Elaine Page's R2 show was extremely good. She's got a book out i must remember to ask for it for Xmas!

Digerd The problem with 7 Brides (apart from the misogyny of the plot!) is the 'staginess' of it I can't get past the wigs the men wear!! I adore the songs though. Yes agree about the dancing of Chakiris and he's gorgeous!!

Singin' in the Rain is quite simply one of the best films of all time, never mind best musicals. <<gavel>>

Oh and so is Mary Poppins.

ppeatfruit Tue 03-Dec-13 15:40:34

The Headless Yes I love the dancing in Singin' and the plot with the vile actress who "cayent talk properly". Don't get me started on Gene Kelly fgrin fgrin. Not that keen on Debbie reynolds though. Cyd Charisse has really got class!!

FushandChups Tue 03-Dec-13 15:59:07

Love Mary Poppins grin and of course, the Sound of Music is ace as well.. although I adore Julie Andrews which has a lot to do with it!

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Tue 03-Dec-13 16:13:43

Have you seen her in Cinderella? That's lovely, much nicer than the Whitney Houston re-make.

TheHeadlessLadyofCannock Tue 03-Dec-13 16:15:35

Cyd was a proper star, wasn't she? What a dancer. Gene too, of course. I love 'Make Em Laugh' with him and Donald thingy running up the walls. Amazing choreography smile

Cyd had the most gorgeous legs and feet - she was beautiful as well as her dancing. Singing in the Rain had varied styles of dance, and comedy especially when the talking movies arrivedgrin . I always have tears in my eyes right at the end and sob my heart out at the end of West Side Story.
At least I smile at the end of 7Bs for 7Bs, but I know what you mean about the dancing being staged.

Although there wasn't that much dancing in Thoroughly Modern Milly, I loved it. It was so funny.

AndiMac Tue 03-Dec-13 16:35:52

I love Singin' in the Rain too. But in a different vein, I'm also a big fan of Moulin Rouge.

Fiderer Tue 03-Dec-13 16:42:17

Howard Keel was wonderful too. My dad loved him - he loved laughing at and really enjoyed the hammy plots.

If there was no sport/news/westerns or musicals on TV (in the 4 channel days) he'd put records of musicals on and BLAST them at full volume.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams Tue 03-Dec-13 16:47:04

Oh yes he was. Calamity Jane is another one of my favourites.

And I like Gordon MacRae too.

ppeatfruit Tue 03-Dec-13 16:53:19

Was it Howard Keel in Carousel? Fiderer I like the story that Frank Sinatra was already to play the lead in it but refused to do it twice for the special wide screen cameras, or something like that ,(he wasn't called "one take Frank" for nothing.

digerd I'm terrible with WSS I start crying as soon as they meet at the gym and esp. in the balcony scene and don't stop it's brilliant !!

Fiderer Tue 03-Dec-13 17:25:52

ppeat No, that was Gordon MacRae. HK was in Kismet, Kiss Me Kate, 7 Brides and and loads of others. (And Dallas!)
This thread has answered my question as to what music I want on my phone - right now all I have is the Doctor Who theme.

Fiderer Tue 03-Dec-13 17:43:39

Meanwhile back in Strictly land, Karen Hardy is on ITT tonight.

digerd Tue 03-Dec-13 18:40:05

Carousel
I blubbed during the "When you walk through a storm" song after he gets killed and she is pregnant and at the end I always lost it completelyblush . Tears are welling up now thinking of it.
And loved Howard Keel and did well up when he came back to take the girls home as he had been thinking of his little girl. < more welling up.>
And at that song "When You're In Love". Sigh.
Must watch ITT

Fiderer Tue 03-Dec-13 18:50:39

ITT's too little Karen Hardy and too many crap fillers angry

Maryz Tue 03-Dec-13 18:54:39

I've given up on ITT.

I can run through the half an hour in about three minutes, and spend double that frothing about the fillers hmm

So I've stopped recording it.
