Kirk and Beth should get married in Corrie (to cheer us all up from Queen Hayley storyline)

NuggetofPurestGreen Thu 12-Sep-13 21:58:29

Starting a new thread as I used up the last two messages on the last one. Also this is my first thread I've ever started! A great subject to start with.

MortifiedAdams Thu 12-Sep-13 22:20:04

I agree.

No.doubt she will have that bloody ponytail atop of her head and Craig will be shoved in a traditional 'little boys' pageboy suit.

Oh, I had a moment when the red message came up.

I agree, a Beth wedding would be a sight to behold. She's gone from awful to quite sympathetic now, the do that with a lot of their characters.

Anyway, I guess we'll see if the police catch up with Carl before he runs off to Benidorm or wherever.

FannyMcNally Thu 12-Sep-13 22:50:47

Just checking in, nothing to add at the moment but looking forward to tomorrow evening's viewing!

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 13-Sep-13 07:05:10

Had a bit of a fright when I saw the thread had finished with no new one linked, so glad to find you all here. Just marking my place.

Marking place. Im on hol with bad internet so havent been able to get on the thread. luckily still been able to watch corrie.

Impomea Fri 13-Sep-13 12:11:15

It all kicks off tonight then.

The telly critic on the Wright Stuff said it's fantastic and not to be missed!

whatkungfuthat Fri 13-Sep-13 13:58:42

Oooh shiny new thread! Beth on banned KFC advert

Mistyshore Fri 13-Sep-13 15:42:07

I'm sure the script writers read our Corrie threads for inspiration so I demand a mention in the credits when Beth and Kirk get wed. I love Beth and Craig, they've fitted in really well and I forget they've not been in it for years.

Now that Headband Mandy and Trouser smell have gone it's only Carl that annoys me and he's going soon grin

MortifiedAdams Fri 13-Sep-13 17:14:57

Yes, I remember someone on here referring to the Twins as Aldi and Asda at least a year ago and lo, a few months later, Gloria did!

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 13-Sep-13 17:57:37

That was my cunning plan in naming the thread Misty so they would see it and not even have to look in the thread.

Faye has now appeared in secondary school uniform (with trainers still at her primary school) - I wonder whether they've picked up on us commenting on that?

Mistyshore Fri 13-Sep-13 18:32:24

Yes, they totally stole Asda and Aldi, there's a few other things that have been questioned and then an explanation is given weeks later smile

How far in advance do they film? <waves at scriptwriters> wink

eddiemairswife Fri 13-Sep-13 18:49:17

In the photo in Digital Spy when she brings her new friend home they are both in red jumpers so perhaps they have a choice. Craig wears grey.

squoosh Fri 13-Sep-13 19:34:41

Why did he storm in and not say anything? I want a dramatic climax dammit! Presume that will happen in the Rovers.

Ellenora5 Fri 13-Sep-13 19:37:16

Oh hello, here you all are, (gives a quick spit and polish to keep the shine on) be back just after eight, looking forward to this tonight

BlatantRedhead Fri 13-Sep-13 19:46:35

Marking me place (while waiting with baited breath for Dev to make the 'big reveal' to St Ella)

TensionWheelsCoolHeels Fri 13-Sep-13 19:58:48

That was possibly the worst filmed/choreographed 'fight' in the history of TV.

Ellenora5 Fri 13-Sep-13 20:17:31

That was a bit of a let down, the next one will be better hopefully

FannyMcNally Fri 13-Sep-13 20:35:52

Complete let down so far. Dev deserves to see Karl get his come-uppance and now he's out cold! Also Owen looks like he's lost tons of weight. And where's Faye's friendship thingy going?

alemci Fri 13-Sep-13 20:40:00

I thought beth sounded like su pollard on hi de hi tonight.

Ellenora5 Fri 13-Sep-13 21:01:03

Well that was much better than the first one, felt sorry for Dev lying on the ground beside Karl, but at least it's over, it went on way too long. Now we can spend the rest of the year crying with Roy and Hayley sad

AmIthatHot Fri 13-Sep-13 21:06:04

Am watching on +1. Bit disappointed if creepy Karl gets away. Dev should have knocked him out

FannyMcNally Fri 13-Sep-13 21:06:46

We all sat there looking at each other and said Why didn't Stella blow out the lighter? And how clever Dev was to text that message!

KenDoddsDadsDog Fri 13-Sep-13 21:10:56

Possibly the worst comeuppance of any soap villain ever.

eddiemairswife Fri 13-Sep-13 21:32:11

Hope we don't have to go through a drawn out trial. Who is looking after Aldi and Asda? I think Fay's new friend is going to be devious and manipulative. Had to laugh when Norris asked if it was the first time she'd had a friend.

The only reason for a long trial would be to see Norris and Mary knitting and eating mint imperials in the public gallery.

KareninsGirl Sat 14-Sep-13 00:42:11

Thought tonight's episodes, which i had seriously been looking forward to, were crap!

Poor show, corrie!

MrsEdinburgh Sat 14-Sep-13 01:02:21

Just waiting for the obvious get together of Stella & Dev .

squoosh Sat 14-Sep-13 02:14:04

I was disappointed, I'd have preferred if Dev had burst into the bistro and revealed all to everyone in one go.

Tonight's episode were missing the Big Reveal. It lost its impact as everyone found out one by one. I'm glad Karl is gone though.

To be fair, it was Dev's best ever acting - he did a brilliant job of lying face down on the floor.

FannyMcNally Sat 14-Sep-13 06:49:58

Yes, why couldn't Dev or Jason or anyone caught him running off trying to escape? A real cop out just giving himself up. And Dev still doesn't know that he pulled the plug on Sunita.

KareninsGirl Sat 14-Sep-13 08:12:38

Karl told st Ella that he murdered sunita in the hospital so I should think dev will find out from her.

I thought dev was going to drive Karl to the police station when he offered them a lift from the registry office.

Impomea Sat 14-Sep-13 08:43:42

Oh dear ! I was really looking forward to it .

Hayley is great though and it should be fun if Roy learns to drive.

SDhopeful Sat 14-Sep-13 09:55:52

To be fair, it was Dev's best ever acting - he did a brilliant job of lying face down on the floor
Badgers yes!!!! grin

alemci Sat 14-Sep-13 10:18:26

I think Dev did quite well and his acting may have had a ring of Stanislavsky's method technique about it smile.

The actor was trying hard I felt, maybe he had read these boards.

whatkungfuthat Sat 14-Sep-13 11:37:19

The denim jacket was an affront though (autocorrect tried to change that to demon jacket grin)

alemci Sat 14-Sep-13 11:38:23

at least Dev had ditched his Columbo style mac though grin

Mistyshore Sat 14-Sep-13 12:24:20

I thought Dev's acting was quite good generally last night. He didn't over act as much as he normally does when he was emotional.

I wasnt crazy about the episodes, thought the fight in the rovers was laughable.

But am just glad its all over now, but really don't want Dev and St Ella to get together. No no nooooo!

MissStrawberry Sat 14-Sep-13 15:06:04

I agree too.

I didn't like Beth when she first came in - and still don't like Siobhan - but she was amazing when Craig was missing and is lovely with Kirky so yes, get the confetti out.

MissStrawberry Sat 14-Sep-13 15:09:56

Since one main character is leaving no one needs to fear a certain pairing.

whatkungfuthat Sat 14-Sep-13 18:18:30

I wonder if St Ella's beehive was a nod to when she was in The Wilsations?

theliverpoolone Sat 14-Sep-13 22:23:16

I had to laugh when Dev was barely conscious with blood oozing from his head, and yet he managed to text - with punctuation! ;('help me, rovers'). Who would think of putting a comma at a time like that!!

Thought the offer of a lift back was a let-down - I really expected a big dramatic scene where he drove them to the middle of nowhere and did the big reveal with them locked in the car.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 15-Sep-13 09:26:51

Only watching Friday now. If you knew someone had killed your wife and indirectly killed someone else and had blackmailed a kid about it, why would you go and lock yourself in an empty pub with them and tell them you know what they did?

Also he could have said it in the registry office, surely Karl and St Ella weren't actually married yet if they hadn't signed the registry. Doesn't make any sense.

whatkungfuthat Mon 16-Sep-13 09:33:50

I agree Nugget its was far too dramatic and wasn't anywhere near good enough. It should have been in front of a room full of people to huge gasps, with Norris clutching his imaginary pearls

ssd Mon 16-Sep-13 16:19:28

it was rubbish

BlatantRedhead Mon 16-Sep-13 19:47:13

Oh ffs are they setting it up for Devastated Dev and Saintly Stella to get together now?! Ugh!

Ellenora5 Mon 16-Sep-13 21:30:08

I hope not Blatant, my vomit meter only goes so high and then it erupts. What is the point of Sally and Tim, they are dreadful together and Sophie carries on like an right nag, jesus, get a life girl.

I want to see Roy learning to drive, it would be funny and the show needs to lighten up for a while before Hayley goes.

Impomea Mon 16-Sep-13 21:59:06

Brilliant! Hayley is going to teach Roy to drive.

Loved Mary tonight.

FannyMcNally Mon 16-Sep-13 22:43:15

The VoiceOver at the end said go to itv.com for details of a romance. Too scared in case it's Devella. Ugh.

eddiemairswife Mon 16-Sep-13 23:39:49

I think it's Eva/Jason. Has Mary lost weight, or was it her hairstyle?

I know who it is and its been metioned on here already grin

I love Mary, she is just what Dev needs without the complication of romance.

Impomea Tue 17-Sep-13 11:47:15

I've watched Corrie on and off for a long time .Dev has done some proper acting and was once considered a bit of a hunk .He even had an affair with Dreary !

alemci Tue 17-Sep-13 11:53:23

I think Dev's acting has improved of late particularly in the last few episodes. maybe he reads these boards.

It is nice to see Tyrone, Tommeh and Fiz back in a storyline and the pigeon was quite a good actor smile

whatkungfuthat Tue 17-Sep-13 13:05:36

I reckon this all leads up to the return of Liz M, who I can't abide

Pegfreak Tue 17-Sep-13 14:17:05

What about Dev getting together with Mary? That would be nice smile.

Why did Roy and Hayley have a cushion between them in the bed?

Who do you think will come and pick up the pigeon? Are we getting another Big Name, do you think?

mayihaveaboxofchoculaits Tue 17-Sep-13 14:43:26

I thought, that with Marys character change from obsessive psycho to intuitive fairy godmother, she was being primed to get together with Roy after Hailey moves on?

Impomea Tue 17-Sep-13 15:18:54

Fiz and Ty are good .it's nice to see one happy couple!

I was getting worried that Eva and Tez would get together -yuk poor Eva.

I wondered about the cushion too perhaps it had a microphone in it or is just one of R & Hs endearing little quirks .

Nancy66 Tue 17-Sep-13 16:09:25

I guess Tommy is going to disappear soon.

Found the friendship between Dev and Jason totally unconvincing. Where the hell did that come from?

Bakingnovice Tue 17-Sep-13 22:50:30

I'm weeks behind and have just watched Hayley being told its terminal. Omg, I've blubbed like a baby. I don't want Hayley to die! I don't want Roy to be alone.

Stunningly beautiful writing, and beautiful acting by everyone involved ( even fuzz who I can't abide). Sorry to be late posting about this but I think it's the most moving soap scenes I've ever watched. Now, where's that tissue....

squoosh Tue 17-Sep-13 22:52:14

<pats Bakingnovice on the back>

It was both awful and great wasn't it?

SDhopeful Wed 18-Sep-13 13:02:16

alemci I agree Dev's acting has improved. I thinkn it proves the scriptwriters/dorectors/actor all read what we write here grin

NuggetofPurestGreen Wed 18-Sep-13 19:37:06

AAAGGGGHHHH Hayley!!!! Crying now again.

Marking spot, having lost track when the old thread ended. Glad Karl is finally gone, not liking the way Tim and Sally are going, Fay's friend is a right one.

FannyMcNally Thu 19-Sep-13 08:21:31

I'm starting to like Sally and Tim's relationship. Her pretending to not care and then throwing herself into the mini-break was brilliant. Tim shows absolutely no emotions ever and she's spinning out of control whilst trying to appear detached. I'd forgotten what a snob she was until she said (can't remember the exact words) ' you didn't think I was the sort of person you'd take to BLACKPOOL did you? grin

whatkungfuthat Thu 19-Sep-13 18:18:34

Jenny McAlpine looked like she was crying for real last night.

Ladytron Thu 19-Sep-13 18:25:20

Did we know about Christian? Or is a storyline they've just made up?

Nancy66 Thu 19-Sep-13 18:33:37

Christian featured a few years ago. He worked in a record shop, Hayley tracked him down pretending to be his auntie. When she told him who she really was. i.e his dad (conceived when she was Harold) he rejected her.

NuggetofPurestGreen Thu 19-Sep-13 20:36:12

And didn't he hit her and then storm off? Which is why Roy is not keen on her contacting him again.

whatkungfuthat Fri 20-Sep-13 19:56:19

Anna is really ripping my knitting.

Captainbarnacles1101 Fri 20-Sep-13 19:58:38

I'm going to have to stop watching until after she does lest risk dehydration!

squoosh Fri 20-Sep-13 20:43:41

Awwwwww loved Roy and Hayley's little kiss.

Aquelven Fri 20-Sep-13 20:52:00

What's happened with Audrey? Is she still lodging at Maria's. must have missed a bit.

squoosh Fri 20-Sep-13 20:56:05

WAH! I couldn't handle Roy watching Hayley singing 'When Will I See You Again'. sad

KenDoddsDadsDog Fri 20-Sep-13 20:56:22

Roy's face at the end sad <cries>

MrsSJG Fri 20-Sep-13 21:06:22

cried with roy, I am over emotional at the moment sad first eastenders and then Roy

BlatantRedhead Fri 20-Sep-13 21:17:40

Every time it's cut to Roy tonight, it's been heart-wrenching.. Please, pleeeeeaaaaase let Roy find strength in being a 'Grandad' to Ruby and Hope. I can't bear that he's gonna be alone sad

BlatantRedhead Fri 20-Sep-13 21:25:27

MrsSJG me too! Roy and Hayley are particularly wonderful characters and the actors are playing the part beautifully. So real, and so heartbreaking!

YoureBeingADick Fri 20-Sep-13 21:27:33

Is stella preggers do we think? Is that why she means by not being so easy to draw a line under things?

Nancy66 Fri 20-Sep-13 21:39:50

Stella is in her 50s

eddiemairswife Fri 20-Sep-13 21:50:18

The actor who plays Roy deserves an Oscar. How can he convey such feeling without moving a muscle? It's going to be hard to watch this until the end.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 20-Sep-13 23:22:33

I'm watching it now. I'm glad I've got the iPad so I can look away!

MrsMinkBernardLundy Fri 20-Sep-13 23:38:49

The actor who plays Roy has been consistently brilliant over the years. such a well written character too.

(i preferred Beth when she was maximum brash)

muminthecity Fri 20-Sep-13 23:42:50

I'm new to this thread but just had to post after tonight's episodes. I'm still recovering! I've never cried so hard at a soap ever. The actor who plays Roy is seriously bloody amazing. I love him.

LivingIsEasyWithEyesClosed Sat 21-Sep-13 06:39:31

I can't watch Roy and Hayley without tears in my eyes- they are turning me into an emotional wreck! I don't think I have ever been so moved by a soap storyline actually

LivingIsEasyWithEyesClosed Sat 21-Sep-13 06:40:53

oh, and where has paul gone, has he left for good?

< hopeful >

LivingIsEasyWithEyesClosed Sat 21-Sep-13 06:43:00

mirai Sat 21-Sep-13 06:53:15

She can't draw a line under things because they're now married!

I wonder if she can get it annulled as it wasn't consummated??

eddiemairswife Sat 21-Sep-13 08:57:09

It was well and truly consummated before the marriage though.

Steve didn't manage to get his marriage to Tracey annulled did he?

WireCat Sat 21-Sep-13 09:05:46

Hello all.

Not been on the thread for ages as I've moved & has the youngest (autistic as well) child started school.

Corrie is sad. We need a miracle to save Hayley.

What annoys me about Corrie is characters disappear. I've not seen last nights episodes so maybe they were in gem. But where's Dreary, Tracey-luv, Rob & Pete-th-Hunk?

WireCat Sat 21-Sep-13 09:43:50

Oh my god, I'm catching up. Hayley & Roy and the tie. Wah.

dirtyface Sat 21-Sep-13 09:47:48

yes they should and i think they should have a baby!

i missed it last night, was my friends birthday so had to go out (how inconsiderate of her)

ChuckitintheBucket Sat 21-Sep-13 12:17:49

I have to kind of zone out when Roy and Hayley are on screen it is just so heartbreaking. Everything they do now and every conversation they have is so poignant.

Nancy66 Sat 21-Sep-13 12:21:16

I think I must be dead inside. The whole Hayley storyline leaves me cold. Just wish she'd hurry up and peg it

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 21-Sep-13 12:30:28

Nancy shock I'm crying whenever they come on screen!!

WireCat Sat 21-Sep-13 12:31:57

Nancy shock
Get off is thread wink

TiffanyTortoise Sat 21-Sep-13 12:58:41

I've watched Corrie from long before Roy and Hayley joined the cast. I agree with the posts about the actor playing Roy being great. That final scene in Corrie last night with Roy was very sad. This emotional story line for might run for several more months and my box of hankies will be well done by then.

Me too, they could so easily have got Roy and Hayley badly wrong, as they don't conform to normal soap characteristics. They could have gone for the easy option of making their characters into victims but they have (on the whole) been a triumph and are definitely the sort of thing that sets Corrie apart from the other soaps for me. How did they write out Sylvia BTW, I've missed a lot this summer.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 21-Sep-13 13:16:49

Loved Beth and Kirk singing Abba.

GoldenGytha Sat 21-Sep-13 13:54:56

Didn't see last night's but the Roy and Hayley storyline is so sad,

Thought Fiz looked beautiful at the birthday party though, the actress playing her is much more attractive than the one s who play Tina (who I can't stand, just leave now) and Katy.

I like Sinead too, hope her and Chesney have a happy, uncomplicated relationship.

amothersplaceisinthewrong Sat 21-Sep-13 13:58:06

I think they are setting Tyrone and Fizz up as the new Vera and Jack couple. ie a basically stable forever couple. I want them to get married!

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 21-Sep-13 13:59:22

Ah I think Tina is beautiful but she's getting too fake looking with the veneers and the tan (even if it is real hmm). Fiz is looking well though. Hope she gets married to Ty and they can be happy forever,.

Sinead is good alright.

GoldenGytha Sat 21-Sep-13 14:12:16

I hope Fiz and Tyrone get married and stay together forever,

Surely between them they've been through enough trauma to last a lifetime!

I think Mary will turn out to be a tower of strength for Roy, but I don't want them to get together, Roy will stay faithful to Hayley's memory, and be a good grandad to Hope and Ruby.

GoldenGytha Sat 21-Sep-13 14:13:22

Can't do links but Alan Halsall and Lucy Jo Hudson have just become parents in RL to baby girl Sienna smile

Nancy66 Sat 21-Sep-13 14:14:18

I can see Mary and Roy getting together too.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 21-Sep-13 14:15:15

Can't see Mary and Roy getting together and if they do I will be ANNOYED.

Nancy66 Sat 21-Sep-13 14:18:36

You can see that script writers don't quite know what to do with Mary - they've exhausted the Norris storyline, the Dev/nanny thing doesn't really work so I can see that making her love interest for Roy could be an option in new year.

YoureBeingADick Sat 21-Sep-13 14:19:16

No- mary doesnt hold a candle to Hayley and roy just wouldnt even have the thought enter his head.

Is lucy jo hudson the girl who used to be in it years ago and had an affair with martin platt? Didnt she kill her dad?

GoldenGytha Sat 21-Sep-13 14:27:49

Yes, that's her You'reBeingADick

She was most annoying as that character, I think they met on the Corrie set.

Ellenora5 Sat 21-Sep-13 15:08:18

No No No, I can't bear it, I was a gibbering wreck last night by the time it was over sad Roy is amazing and why he is not showered with awards really annoys me, I have lots of episodes recorded for my mum as she has been away and I may stock up on the tissues when she comes down to watch them.

PassAFist Sat 21-Sep-13 20:57:14

I am generally a big crier at soaps but last night I didn't shed a tear. I found the whole episode was so contrived, and at the end when Hayley was singing it reminded me of some 1970's-era TOTP thing with bizarre soft back-lighting. I just ended up annoyed and I really didn't want to be because Roy and Hayley are two of my favourites and I have already shed many tears over this story line. It felt really cliched to me and therefore fake, and usually I think Hayley and Roy are very realistic. sad

I hope they don't drag it out too long so that it ends up that you just want her to pop off so it can be over.

I know what you mean. I love the roy/ hayley storyline too and find it very sad. But when they were out the back and looking at the moon and she was being all cheesy...was a bit cringy. Shes almost better than that in a way?

It did get a bit cheesy on Friday. But the way Roy just sat, quietly, watching Hayley sing, was great, and there was a nice moment with Stella and Gloria.

Not sure what they should do with Mary, she's had so many totally bizarre plots that they can't really just have her settle down into normality with one of the regulars, but can't do any more bizarre stalkery stuff either. I think they should bring in a new man just for her and she can finally meet her soulmate. Does she still live in the campervan? Where is it parked?

YoureBeingADick Sun 22-Sep-13 15:40:13

There was a really cringey moment with hayley when roy brought her home from hospital and she said something About everything looking brighter, but it was the way she said it.

eddiemairswife Sun 22-Sep-13 16:04:45

What does Mary actually do? She's had various odd jobs such as working in Roy's Rolls and the Bistro and seems to occasionally look after Aldi and Asda, but doesn't seem to have any regular income. Also she can't just live on the street in the camper van; she'd get moved on by the police. Perhaps there's a super-duper campsite with all facilities on the Red Rec.

GoldenGytha Sun 22-Sep-13 19:17:50

I thought Mary lodged with Norris and Emily,

There was a scene with her a few weeks ago, and she mentioned something about the cheek of Norris trying to charge her rent or something?

Nancy66 Sun 22-Sep-13 19:22:21

I think she was only staying there while Roy and Hayley took her camper van on their trip. The rest of the time she lives in her caravan.

GoldenGytha Sun 22-Sep-13 19:25:41

Oh ok,

I thought she lived with them full time.

She must live on the Red Rec then grin

FannyMcNally Sun 22-Sep-13 19:44:24

I'm always wondering about the site of the motorhome. It needs to be somewhere where Mary can get drinking water to fill her tank and also somewhere where she can pour the contents of her toilet. Maybe there is a farm somewhere that she camps on. But even then there will be a restriction on how many days she can stay. I might have to email the SWs and ask only it's been bugging me for ages!

Have been on Digital Spy and looks quite exciting next week. Doesn't mention Hayley and Roy so maybe we will have a little break from the heartache.

Impomea Sun 22-Sep-13 19:52:18

Where did Mary appear from ?She must have lived somewhere I can't remember.

I wonder if the SWs have forgotten about Nick.

eddiemairswife Sun 22-Sep-13 20:05:31

Wasn't there some thing about Norris entering competitions -making up slogans- and he met her through that?

Yes, they were both obsessed with competitions and met when they tied in a competition I think. They were fierce rivals. They won the motorhome jointly IIRC.

whatkungfuthat Mon 23-Sep-13 20:16:14

Michelle is annoying me, she seems to have forgotten that she only got the job because she was once related to Carla

SDhopeful Mon 23-Sep-13 20:38:20

I'm wondering how dark Nick's suntan will be when he wakes up from this coma.

whatkungfuthat Tue 24-Sep-13 12:43:12

YoureBeingADick Tue 24-Sep-13 14:39:46

as much as I hate to say this, because I love her, but Hayley is going too cheesy now. I just didn't buy it last night when she was supposedly in hysterics at roy's driving lesson and then cam out with 'road rage roy'. I hope they don't turn her into a cliché. it would be so disappointing as she can do so much more than that.

whatkungfuthat Tue 24-Sep-13 16:24:05

I know what you mean about Hayley, hope they don't ruin her

I found that a bit weird too with her hysterics it didnt ring true although it obv must be hard to look as if you're laughing when its not genuine.

Wonder how it'll go with Christian on wed?

LordElpuss Wed 25-Sep-13 14:16:49

I love the characters of Hayley and Roy and the look on Roy's face when he was watching her sing was heartbreaking but ... Hayley is just too jolly about being terminally ill. It seems unrealistic to me.

Ladytron Wed 25-Sep-13 19:53:25

What a load of tosh in the factory just now. I find it hard to believe that Peter's figures "didn't add up". How long did he spend running the bookies?

FannyMcNally Wed 25-Sep-13 20:40:19

It was so bad that I couldn't watch most of it. It reminded me of training days where we used to watch farces of what-not-to-do in meetings with clients. And Christian not turning up was a complete waste of 10 minutes.

AnneEyhtMeyer Wed 25-Sep-13 21:00:17

Good point, Ladytron. Figures are "his thing", and they did something a few weeks ago where he ran rings around Carla's brother in maths.

Are we meant to care about Michelle walking out of the factory? She is one of those characters I just can't be bothered with at all. She brings nothing to the show.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 25-Sep-13 21:49:21

That Michelle has such a cushy job. I can't remember her name in real life. A lot of them do really. It can't be hard.

Where is Carla? The factory set up is a joke, one inexperienced person after another running it. I dislike Michelle too, she hasn't got many redeeming features.

Ladytron Thu 26-Sep-13 18:07:43

Thanks AnneEyt! It really winds me up when the writers change the characters.
Carla, Steve, Lloyd and Dreary must all be holiday together in RL somewhere!

eddiemairswife Thu 26-Sep-13 19:46:52

where does Gail work?

AnneEyhtMeyer Thu 26-Sep-13 19:51:06

She's the cleaner at the Bistro, isn't she? She was sacked from the GP surgery I think.

eddiemairswife Thu 26-Sep-13 19:54:18

Of course, I remember now. So many of them are in and of jobs it's difficult to keep track.

I was wondering where Carla is too. I dont like Michelle much either and she wears too much make up it makes her look old.

FannyMcNally Fri 27-Sep-13 20:03:53

Ooh good episode tonight! Sally's nips were a bit off-putting but apart from that, very enjoyable. Beth winding Peter up, Tim sneaking back to the flat, Lianne overhearing David at the hospital, Michele having a go at Carla! Can't wait for 8.30!

whatkungfuthat Fri 27-Sep-13 20:19:10

I was ironing so I missed the nips (thankfully) and what David said at the end

DameEdnasBridesmaid Fri 27-Sep-13 20:53:29

Aw Roy, how touching

whatkungfuthat Fri 27-Sep-13 20:59:44

That made my eyes prickle, poor Hayley

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 27-Sep-13 21:25:32

Why is Carla even listening to Michelle's whining? Why would she even care that she walked out of her job? This storyline must just be leading to Steve buying the pub again.

DameEdnasBridesmaid Fri 27-Sep-13 21:42:58

Are you the scriptwriter Anne! smile

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 27-Sep-13 21:48:12

Haha! If I were there would be another massive accident on the Street and Tim, Rosie, Stella, Tina, Rita and Traceyluv would never be seen again!

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 27-Sep-13 21:48:47

Oh! Just saw Steve enquire about the price of the pub! I knew it!

KenDoddsDadsDog Fri 27-Sep-13 22:09:08

Poor Hayley ! The Sally / kebabbyman storyline is like a Carry On Film.

eddiemairswife Fri 27-Sep-13 23:12:08

How long is Tim going to be hiding? You'd think he would have stocked up with food beforehand.

Ellenora5 Sat 28-Sep-13 14:40:54

The Tim and Sally storyline is just stupid, the sooner he is gone the better. Why does Steve need a mortgage, surely he has the money from when he sold the pub to Stella in the first place, and why on earth has Michelle no money, she has a perfectly good job and lives in a dumpy little flat and goes nowhere so she should be loaded.

I hope they don't bring Christian back into it, what was the point of him turning up just to insult Hayley, plus he's very creepy.

Lighthousekeeping Sat 28-Sep-13 15:17:06

What happened to the woman Hayley was married to or was she never married?

shellbot Sat 28-Sep-13 19:29:42

When Michelle and Carla were arguing in the pub I got the impression that they've been friends since childhood but how can they be as they were sister in laws.

Also why is all Michelle's family in Ireland when she doesn't have an Irish accent?

If I'm talking rubbish please be gently on me as I've already started on the
wine

Mistyshore Sat 28-Sep-13 21:47:17

Michelle's mum and dad moved over to Manchester from Ireland when they were children/before they were born and then moved back once the children had grown up. I think Michelle and Carla were very young when Carla got together with Michelle's brother and they all grew up in the same area.

Ellenora5 Sat 28-Sep-13 21:52:10

Hayley wasn't married, I think it was a one night stand when she was Harold, but I'm not really sure on that.

Yes, Michelle and Carla grew up together, although Michelle's family seem quite genteel and Carla's mother was referrred to as earning her living by selling drugs out of her pushchair. Michelle's husband/partner/father of Ryan is dead (car crash?) and she has lost both her brothers in separate accidents, she is one unlucky person.

eddiemairswife Sat 28-Sep-13 23:39:09

Michelle seems to have forgotten about her other 'real' son.

LordElpuss Sun 29-Sep-13 06:12:42

When Carla said to Michelle in the pub "the girls will never forgive me ... you're the 'eart and soul of that factory"

Eh? confused

whatkungfuthat Sun 29-Sep-13 08:36:45

The whole thing with this Michelle storyline and Peter losing the bookies, St Ella leaving etc. is to set things up for Liz to come back, regrettably.

shellbot Sun 29-Sep-13 11:45:38

Thanks Misty & WhoKnows. Will sleep easy tonight now I know grin

FannyMcNally Sun 29-Sep-13 13:01:41

I thought that LordElpuss! To me she's someone who sits in the office or in the Rovers or is in the flat looking concerned at Ryan. Neither the heart nor soul of any place!

insummeritrains Sun 29-Sep-13 13:46:16

Seems wrong to say it now with Hayley so ill but do you think they will ever put Roy with someone else? There have been a few scenes recently that have convinced me that they're setting the scene for him and Mary getting together.
We already know they have a lot in common and she has a crush on him!

The nips were mammoth. I love that Steve wants the pub.

Clawdy Mon 30-Sep-13 19:45:42

They keep showing Audrey's Perming Diploma certificate framed on the wall of the salon! Surely there's no such thing as a Perming Diploma? any hairdressers know?

Mistyshore Mon 30-Sep-13 19:53:51

David asked Gail to put the ironing board away for him. It lives against the living room wall about a foot from where he was standing! It annoys me every scene they shoot in that bloody room! angry. They don't even put it away when they have a party!

I realise I've invested a bit too much thought into Gail's housekeeping skills grin

PaintedBottom Tue 01-Oct-13 19:29:16

Oh look what I've just found! I love this! Hayley's diary grin

www.itv.com/hayleysdiary

Ellenora5 Wed 02-Oct-13 00:04:31

Oh PaintedBottom, that's lovely, I don't mind admitting I had a tear in my eye...thanks for the link smile

LordElpuss Wed 02-Oct-13 00:28:42

Hate the diary (sorry)

1944girl Wed 02-Oct-13 00:39:28

What on earth was Michelle wearing on her legs when she went out tonight?.To me it looked like she had put black tights on with nothing on top, or they were extemely close fitting leggings. Combined with her black jacket and top, black eyeliner and eyebrows and of course shiny black hair she looked like a bat without wings.

AnneEyhtMeyer Wed 02-Oct-13 07:05:44

Hmmm... I am worried they are going to jump the shark with Hayley's illness. I am concerned that by Christmas I will be desperate for her to just hurry up and die if they keep up the mawkish sentimentalism every single episode. The diary is too much.

whatkungfuthat Wed 02-Oct-13 07:52:09

They are going to wring every drop out of Hayley dying aren't they? I feel sorry for the actress as she has to suffer these indignities

LordElpuss Wed 02-Oct-13 09:21:22

Exactly, AnneEyht! It's like an unfortunate production of the play based on the Diary of Anne Frank. The young actress who played Anne was so tiresome that when the SS arrived at the house, the audience yelled "she's in the attic!"

Lol Misty that made me laugh about the ironing board. Ill be looking out for it now!

Also my dad said Corrie are allowed to show three brands per week. I spotted Yorkshire tea in Dev's shop and ive always got my eye out for what else I can see!

MurielTheActor Wed 02-Oct-13 09:50:32

That chap who plays Nick is SO bad he can't even do coma acting! Aaargh!

AnneEyhtMeyer Wed 02-Oct-13 09:55:16

grin "She's in the attic!" - That's so funny, LordElpuss!

I think it would be better if she just got on and died quickly. Alma's death didn't drag on like this, did it?

Impomea Wed 02-Oct-13 10:56:17

Almas death was very moving I could hardly bear to watch but she was also a well loved character .I don't get why they have to write Hayley out.She could have just gone off for a couple of years to do charity work hasn't she had long breaks before? Perhaps they did not realize how popular Hayley's character is.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 02-Oct-13 12:25:08

Only because she's the only interesting one in it!

Clawdy Wed 02-Oct-13 14:39:12

Lord Elpuss that's an urban myth....

AnneEyhtMeyer Wed 02-Oct-13 14:41:13

Oddly enough, the actress who played Alma was in Doctors today.

I just don't see why they have dragged out Hayley's death. It is going to ruin the character as they wring out every ounce of sentimentality.

LordElpuss Wed 02-Oct-13 14:45:56

Clawdy - don't go spoiling a good anecdote! Next you'll be saying that Coronation Street isn't real and Hayley's pretending to be ill shock

Clawdy Wed 02-Oct-13 15:00:00

Ooh,no,I'd never do that!!

FannyMcNally Wed 02-Oct-13 20:35:15

Complete yawn-fest tonight apart from Kylie's face when Nick said "mine" and poor deluded Leanne thinking he was trying to say "my niece"! Does anyone know when and how this storyline ends?

BlatantRedhead Wed 02-Oct-13 21:21:52

I'm sorry but how thick must Leanne be not to have thought Nicks response to Lilly was fucking weird? His exact response to "Davids a proper proud Dad" being "not. his. mine." I mean how obvious is that! Who on earth would think he's talking about her being his niece?

Mind you, I have noticed she talks so much he can't really get anything out anyway. If he never regains his speech properly it'll be like that his whole life. How depressing.

mirai Thu 03-Oct-13 08:46:32

The reason they had to kill Hayley off is that the relationship between her and Roy is so strong that she would never just leave him for another man or a charity mission or what have you.

That's what I read in an interview, anyway!

I get fed up with totally inexperienced people coming in to for various jobs in the factory and within a week they are getting all these 'contrakks' and turning the factory round.

It must be the ONLY manufacturing set up left in the UK. All the others have turned into distribution centres while the actual manufacturing work goes on in china.

whatkungfuthat Thu 03-Oct-13 14:11:24

I agree Flibberty, it's like in Eastenders when they put on a polyester pin-stripe suit and say they are going to be entrepreneurs but never leave the Square to do it.

Owen the Tiny Terror and his unpaid debt is a yawnfest

NuggetofPurestGreen Thu 03-Oct-13 19:19:29

Impomea Fri 04-Oct-13 20:41:03

Was it Jimmy Corkhill ?

Ellenora5 Fri 04-Oct-13 20:43:47

No I don't think he was Jimmy, and I think Owen playing the hard man is just laughable

YoureBeingADick Fri 04-Oct-13 20:50:00

Where the hell is this julie/brian storyline going? How ridiculous to try and get a man who doesnt want children to FOSTER! As if that is a compromise!

SoleSource Fri 04-Oct-13 20:50:59

Has she lost the baby? The woman that was just discussing being a foster Mum in The Bistro?

whatkungfuthat Fri 04-Oct-13 20:51:21

I thought it was Jimmy Corkhill at first too but the actor is much thinner than that.

None of these stories are remotely interesting. The Nick thing is tiresome as he and Leanne are not at all likeable

SoleSource Fri 04-Oct-13 20:52:06

That's her Julie I thought she was pregnant..confused

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 04-Oct-13 20:56:04

Oh, Jimmy Corkhill! That's who I think he is. If he isn't, then he looks a hell of a lot like him.

alemci Fri 04-Oct-13 20:56:55

deffo deidre getting ghastly and those belts are dreadful. she has become a hanger on.

was it red day, all the women seemed to wearing red in the bistro

My face did this shock hmm when Julie said she was only 36

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 04-Oct-13 21:01:52

Just looked at the credits and he is called Connor McIntyre. According to IMDB Jimmy Corkhill was someone called Dean Sullivan, so it isn't the same guy.

They look and sound a lot alike.

YoureBeingADick Fri 04-Oct-13 21:05:45

Julie was pregnant but had a miscarriage as far as i remember.

I was shock too at her only being 36!

alemci Fri 04-Oct-13 21:09:11

36?

Is that the actress age in real life.

could be the way she dresses and hairstyle

YoureBeingADick Fri 04-Oct-13 21:14:46

Im not sure how old the actress is but i know that julie has to be 14 years younger than eileen because eileens best childhood friend is her mum and was 14 when she had her.

shellbot Fri 04-Oct-13 21:41:43

The actress was born in 1973 so that makes her 40 so not far off her character's age. I think she looks older because of the way she dresses.

shiningcadence Fri 04-Oct-13 22:02:01

She is 39 in rl shock tbf though I think it's her hairstyle and clothes that age her. She's got quite a nice face.

shiningcadence Fri 04-Oct-13 22:03:17

Oops sorry shellbot didn't refresh the page from when I read it earlier so x posted blush

Are Eileen and Julie not actually sisters then yourebeingadick?!

PassAFist Sat 05-Oct-13 06:31:41

Julie and Eileen are half-sisters - Eileen's Dad knocked up her best friend when her friend was 14.

Mistyshore Sat 05-Oct-13 16:09:07

I'm going to accuse you of being scousist!
All actors from Liverpool do not look or sound alike wink

Ellenora5 Sat 05-Oct-13 16:24:03

Julie can't have children, she thought she was pregnant once and Brian finished with her because he had a vasectomy so said the baby couldn't be his, but she wasn't pregnant she had a tumour and had to have a hysterectomy, it was very sad actually and she played the part very well. The actress is not long back from maternity leave, she had her third child this year.

AnneEyhtMeyer Sat 05-Oct-13 16:38:56

No, *Misty, but these two do! grin

BlatantRedhead Sat 05-Oct-13 21:51:18

NuggetofPurestGreen I noticed that. You can expect a girls mate to try and make her feel better about being dumped for someone else but even if it's true (and I'd say it depends on your taste tbh) what an arrogant sod Katie was to actually agree.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 05-Oct-13 21:56:41

Yeah and it wasn't even said in a jokey manner! I'm entirely sick of Katie and that whole Armstrong/Windass clan.

Just catching up. Anne - I don't think Phelan looks anything like Jimmy Corkhill but notice that he has also appeared in Doctors.

I hope this finally leads to Anna ditching Owen.

FannyMcNally Mon 07-Oct-13 20:19:28

Why can't Nick ask Kylie about the DNA test instead of asking David to do it secretly? And I still don't know why David hasn't had it out with Kylie. Why doesn't David threaten to tell Leanne when Nick threatens to tell about the accident? I can't fathom it all out.

YoureBeingADick Mon 07-Oct-13 20:46:06

FannyMcNally Mon 07-Oct-13 21:14:41

Am enjoying the Sally/Eva ruckusgrin and also like Tim's stories to Sally! I can't wait for him to tie himself in a knot and Sally to confront him tee hee.

Impomea Mon 07-Oct-13 21:33:46

So suddenly Eva is qualified to be a PA have these skills been mentioned before ?
PA ,barmaid and knicker stitcher obviously are very similar jobs !

grin

whatkungfuthat Tue 08-Oct-13 09:29:21

I think the Eva thing rings true tbh. She said she has had temp work in offices and she is the age where she would be far more computer literate than Sally.

angelos02 Tue 08-Oct-13 10:47:09

I've done PA work. As long as you know your way around Word, you don't need any training.

Nancy66 Tue 08-Oct-13 11:42:20

I also noticed Tina's lips. not a good look.

Gail's hair looked weird too.

Soooooooo couldn't give a toss about Michelle's dad - not sure where they are going with that one.

ajandjjmum Tue 08-Oct-13 12:02:52

TBF the scriptwriters moved Michelle from being a barmaid to PA at the factory - they do have form for these wonderful promotions! IIRC Sally used to be a PA, and had an affair with her boss.

whatkungfuthat Tue 08-Oct-13 12:34:08

Nospringchickendipper Tue 08-Oct-13 16:39:15

I feel sorry for Deirdre. The script writers don't seem to know what to do with her at the moment I realise it must be difficult for them because of the situation with Ken.
I'm hoping that when Liz comes back that they could start writing better story lines for her she deserves better.

At least Nick's confused face has come into its own in the hospital bed scenes.

Nancy66 Tue 08-Oct-13 18:47:05

I prefer Nick's confused face to David's psycho one although both clearly crafted at the Ham School of Acting.

whatkungfuthat Tue 08-Oct-13 19:45:54

Nick has some serious facial lines too, vertical ones

Ellenora5 Thu 10-Oct-13 12:33:29

I think they should put Nick, Leanne, Kylie and David on the Jeremy Vile show and tell us the dna results that way, with Gail and Audrey behind the scenes looking anxiously on, then Tina should come on and explain that her and David are only friends and Kylie can chuck a chair at her and try and scrap the tan off her grin

Now that would be worth watching!!!

That would be fab

LazyGaga Thu 10-Oct-13 13:12:25

I mentioned on a thread the other night that I think David Platt is really quite attractive and everyone was so shocked and stunned that it didn't get a single response grin.

Nick looks like he's been chained to a radiator in Lebanon instead of being in an ICU for the last couple of months.

Michelle's dad is that Irish talk show host isn't he? Gay Byrne?? The one who had Boyzone on prancing around like idiots aeons ago? He's obviously split up with Michele's mother but not got round to admitting it. Eileen looked very put out at him hitting on her the other night grin. Also thought Eileen was really off with Deirdre in the Kabin and Rovers, they were bosom buddies not long ago.

Why did someone mention Delilah Dingle upthread in connection with Steve? Is she coming into it now?!

LazyGaga Thu 10-Oct-13 13:19:08

Corrie on Jeremy Kyle Ellenora what you posted rang some bells...it wouldn't be the first time they've done it.

Ellenora5 Thu 10-Oct-13 19:18:58

LazyGaga, that's brilliantgrin, and there was me thinking that I had an original idea sad

Aquilla Thu 10-Oct-13 19:26:06

AmIthatHot Thu 10-Oct-13 20:52:26

AnneEyhtMeyer Thu 10-Oct-13 21:04:21

LazyGaga are you genuinely saying you fancy Ratboy? shock

LazyGaga Thu 10-Oct-13 23:59:52

grin

Yes, I do actually find him attractive and I think he gets an unfair rap just because the character is so weaselly and ratty. I like his smile and his hair at the mo, and I think he resembles a young John Simm which is never a bad thing. He is way younger than me though so not what I'd go for in RL (quite apart from the fact I'm happily married!).

The YouTube thing is funny. I do miss Graeme.

I know that most of you think I am weird in fancying Steve so thought I'd ask which is better, Steve or Ratboy?

Yes Delilah Dingle is coming to Corrie and I too miss Graeme.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 11-Oct-13 10:20:29

I fancy Steve, that's an entirely normal thing, surely?

Fancying Ratboy and his bouffant hair is not normal. Ever.

LazyGaga Fri 11-Oct-13 10:38:36

It's not that bouffant! Quite stylish I think. I do find Steve appealing but NOT when he shaves his hair off; I think he'd be a good laugh in the sack, very unselfconscious and earthy (might be overthinking things here though!). Jason and Tommy are rather lovely, but Liam was the best.

So is Delilah going to be Michelle's love rival for Steve?

whatkungfuthat Fri 11-Oct-13 10:47:10

You are all suck on the heed, sick I tells yer! There is only one lovegod on Corrie, the swarthy multi-tattooed bit of rough that is Peter Barlow grin

whatkungfuthat Fri 11-Oct-13 10:47:48

I am not actually sure what swarthy means but it suits him [dribbles]

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 11-Oct-13 10:50:51

Peter Barlow is grim.

And Ratboy's hair is very bouffant. It reminds me of the Queen's hair do.

LazyGaga Fri 11-Oct-13 11:08:40

grin maybe he hits the curlers and setting lotion in the salon and pops under a dryer for 20 mins before opening?

Ah yes, forgot about Peter Barlow. Looks good with the greying goatee. Can't believe who he's going to have an affair with - he's old enough to be her dad!

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 11-Oct-13 11:16:33

grin I bet he reads Take A Break while he's under the dryer!

FannyMcNally Fri 11-Oct-13 16:45:21

Some of you are bonkers! Snog, marry or push off a cliff.... hmmm... snog David, marry Steve and push Peter off a cliff I'm afraid.

Snog Steve, marry Steve, push David and Peter off a cliff

Ellenora5 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:07:21

Snog Peter, marry Steve, push David off a cliff....

Didn't know Delilah Dingle was coming into Corrie, I'm off to digital spy

LazyGaga Fri 11-Oct-13 19:36:33

Anne grin more like Psychopath's Weekly wink.

Agree it would be shag Peter, marry Steve and push David. Even though I quite fancy David he's a mere boy; Peter is more my level. Steve would probably be quite a good husband - he's had enough practice!

LazyGaga Fri 11-Oct-13 19:38:37

Ahem, getting a bit ahead of myself. You're talking about snogging and I'm already shagging them grin.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 11-Oct-13 19:54:33

grin Psychopath's Weekly - is that for sale in the Kabin?

Snog - Steve, Marry - Steve, Push off a cliff - Peter and David.

Impomea Fri 11-Oct-13 20:03:12

I think Norris orders the Psy Weekly in as a matter of course .There's always the odd murderer/nutter hanging around Corrie !

Snog Peter -don't marry anyone -push Peter,David and Nick in the canal

Impomea Fri 11-Oct-13 20:04:38

Whoops forgot "Sexy Steve"-you can have him Anne.

No, Sexy Steve is mine

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 11-Oct-13 21:31:47

If I can't have Sexy Steve then can I have Nick? He is my embarrassing crush. blush

Pegfreak Fri 11-Oct-13 22:20:35

I didn't partake of Emmerdale when Delilah Dingle was in it. Is she going to annoy me? Silly question - most new characters are annoying to begin with. Sigh.

Snog Peter, push David off a cliff, have a pint with Steve to celebrate.

WhoKnowsWhereTheBonnetsGo Fri 11-Oct-13 23:25:49

Anne - I worry about you sometimes!

I totally agree with Pegfreak - Snog Peter, push David off a cliff and celebrate with a pint with Steve.

eddiemairswife Sat 12-Oct-13 00:03:31

NICK???

<boak> Nick!? He'd just look confused all the time.

Im team Peter smile I agree though that Liam was gorge but I get my dose of him in Downton now!

AnneEyhtMeyer Sat 12-Oct-13 10:43:37

I know, I know, I know. I admit it is terribly embarrassing, but he is so nice. And I bet he he is good in bed. Although he needs to lose the beard.

WhoKnowsWhereTheBonnetsGo Sat 12-Oct-13 10:51:44

He's not all nice, remember when he deliberately got Peter drunk to split him up with Leanne when he was having an affair with her? And he shagged his brother's wife, ooh, let's see, 9 months ago.

AnneEyhtMeyer Sat 12-Oct-13 10:55:51

Yes, but Peter is a nasty lying bigamist and David is Ratboy. They deserved it! grin

WhoKnowsWhereTheBonnetsGo Sat 12-Oct-13 11:07:06

In fact they're all as bad as each other.

FannyMcNally Sat 12-Oct-13 11:09:00

Except lovely Steve...

Although I expect someone on this thread will dig up something awful on himgrin

WhoKnowsWhereTheBonnetsGo Sat 12-Oct-13 11:20:43

Didn't he do time for something years ago, when he was married to Alec Gilroy's granddaughter? That's why he couldn't be the licensee of the Rovers.

FannyMcNally Sat 12-Oct-13 14:46:56

Oh does that mean when he re-buys the Rovers Michelle will be the licensee? Or is there a time limit on transgressions?

whatkungfuthat Sat 12-Oct-13 16:31:47

Nick always has a constipated look, a bit like Chezza Cole on the X Factor when she was trying to look like she gave a stuff

I am not sure about the license, perhaps that will be the big tussle between her and Liz - who is going to be licensee? Where is Liz getting the cash, assuming it's her on the phone? Jim did that robbery to try and get her cash last time for the Rovers, so he did

LazyGaga Sat 12-Oct-13 16:46:46

Steve shat on Michelle from a great height by copping off with Becky behind her back. I know Michelle's a pain in the bum but it was still shoddy treatment.

AnneEyhtMeyer Sat 12-Oct-13 17:45:56

Michelle is a dreadful character who deserves everything she gets. She has three expressions, which she does on a loop - the eye roll, the shocked mouth open wide, and the cat's bum mouth.

I think Liz will be the licensee.

Oh WhoKnows, that takes me back. Wasn't she American? Didn't he steal something?

LazyGaga Sat 12-Oct-13 20:53:56

You're forgetting the head bobbing side to side, mouth going meh-meh-meh, sarky mimicking when someone says something she doesn't like. That's four expressions. Oh, and a disbelieving scoff which is then followed by the eye roll. I also have an irrational dislike of the way she says 'dalling' for darling. Aaanyway...!

Vicky was very posh, not American and I thought Steve got mixed up in some drug stuff. I'm off to Google it now. I know how to roll on a Saturday night wink.

LazyGaga Sat 12-Oct-13 21:04:23

Handling stolen whisky and perverting the cause of justice.

So there you are.

WhoKnowsWhereTheBonnetsGo Sat 12-Oct-13 21:10:31

Was Steve framed for something by Jez Quigley, who Jim subsequently killed? Liz had to be his licensee and it was also one of the reasons he and Becky didn't pursue the adoption (she had a record too). I think he had to have a different licensee fir the cabs too (Vik then Lloyd).

AnneEyhtMeyer Sat 12-Oct-13 22:24:35

How could I have forgotten the fourth head-bobbing expression, Lazy? I feel so ashamed for belittling her considerable acting talents.

Oh yes, Vicky was posh, not American. I remember now.

Ladytron Sun 13-Oct-13 20:50:46

Michelle's dad is really getting up my nose, the interfering old goat.

ajandjjmum Sun 13-Oct-13 21:03:36

Why is it that, although I can't stand David, I was glad of the DNA result?

Ellenora5 Sun 13-Oct-13 22:22:27

ajandjjmum, I feel the same, can't abide the little weasel but I was glad he is Lilys father, he always gets shoved to the side in favour of Nick, but boy did he let him have it tonight. I think he is always craving something of his own and now he has Lily so he thinks that all will be ok.

I knew the pub thing would backfire on Steve, she is such a misery guts.

eddiemairswife Sun 13-Oct-13 23:19:57

lady agree about michelle's dad.

mirai Mon 14-Oct-13 04:32:27

So in the Nick vs David argument scene, whose side were you on? When nick said "could you look a little less excited about it", I was all "are you kidding me? You slept with your brother's wife!!! He has every right to be excited!!"

DH though could not believe i was on David's side, "nick's got brain damage! He's got brain damage!"

"Yes, but brain damage or no, he slept with his wife!!"

"But they were split up on Christmas day"

WIBU?! grin

KenDoddsDadsDog Mon 14-Oct-13 04:51:13

I was on David's side too!

Clawdy Mon 14-Oct-13 08:35:40

Gay Byrne?? Of course! he used to be a tv presenter on Granada many years ago. Didn't recognise him at all. I was glad Lily is David's too. Then I worried a bit that it might be a doubtful result because he and Nick are brothers - but they are only half-brothers. Any one know if that could be so?

Clawdy Mon 14-Oct-13 09:39:46

LazyGaga it's not Gay Byrne....someone called Frank Grimes apparently.

Pegfreak Mon 14-Oct-13 10:05:09

Gay/Frank - he's a PITA and should bugger off and take his whiney daughter with him.

I agree, the Nick & Kylie thing happened when they were separated IIRC. Therefore Ratface was OOO.

Steve was funny when he started saying "Of all the gin joints ..." to Tyrone. grin

LazyGaga Mon 14-Oct-13 11:44:15

Clawdy thank you for putting me right! Have just googled Gay Byrne and he's nearly 80. No wonder you didn't recognise him wink.

LazyGaga Mon 14-Oct-13 11:45:09

Have not watched yesterday's episode yet so averting my eyes in case there's any spoilers ^^.

NorthAnneEyhtMeyerAbbey Mon 14-Oct-13 11:48:13

I wanted it to be David's baby too, because I think if it wasn't then Kylie would end up leaving. I think Nick was sad though as it would probably have been his only chance to have his own child.

FeckOffCupofBatBlood Mon 14-Oct-13 17:47:37

I'm on David's side too, I'm glad Lily is his, I like him and Kylie as a couple. I wish bland Nick, moanyface Leeann and obnoxious brat Simon would fuck right off.

FannyMcNally Mon 14-Oct-13 19:27:24

I hope there's going to be some fireworks when Kylie finds out David knew about her and Nick and also the secret DNA test. I can't help feeling sorry for Leanne though in all of this.

NorthAnneEyhtMeyerAbbey Mon 14-Oct-13 20:49:41

Why isn't Nick telling Kylie that David knows about what happened now she knows about the DNA test?

FannyMcNally Mon 14-Oct-13 21:00:50

I'm completely lost! I haven't been able to follow this episode at all. And agree, why didn't Nick tell her? Then the DVD shenanigans on top. Arrgh!

Enjoyed Tracey's line earlier about Tina's orange make-up. grin

Clawdy Mon 14-Oct-13 21:08:39

I'm afraid I find Hayley's new friend annoying and not very believable.

elcranko Mon 14-Oct-13 21:38:16

Hold on... How does David know about Kylie & Nick? And how did I not know that he knows?!

Clawdy Mon 14-Oct-13 22:21:15

He overheard a conversation between Kylie and Gail, when they didn't know he was in the house.

Mistyshore Mon 14-Oct-13 23:16:15

I'm lost and I'm usually an expert!

What's the relevance of Kylie knowing that David knew where the letter was and what's the relevance of her witnessing him burn the letter? Why the weird looks towards Gail from Kylie?

Liz isn't annoying me (returning characters usually do) and I liked the storyline of her and Michelle getting their positions sorted.

eddiemairswife Mon 14-Oct-13 23:22:07

I so agree claudy. It gets worse .

LazyGaga Tue 15-Oct-13 14:12:52

Because Kylie now knows David has suspicions she was with someone else, hence him arranging a dna test. She was watching him burn the letter probably wondering when or if he's going to confront her about it all.

I think the odd look to Gail is because she's wondering if Gail has told David. She knows Gail has had her hands on the letter but doesn't know if she's read it or not.

How come Liz McDonald has got her old teeth back confused. Michelle has got a lovely smile - shame we don't see more of it. Steve was hilarious attempting to ignore the fact his mother had just walked into the pub.

"Why is she saying it is her pub?" "Erm, jetlag?" grin

Pegfreak Tue 15-Oct-13 15:32:43

I'm afraid I find Hayley's new friend annoying and not very believable. I think more will come of her, Clawdy - judging by the way her face fell when Roy whisked Hayley off to Blackpool the stud.

LazyGaga Tue 15-Oct-13 15:57:28

God I hope Hayley and new found mate aren't going to enter into some sort of suicide pact.

Lighthousekeeping Tue 15-Oct-13 21:20:51

I was thinking that Roy will have a hand it that sad

futureforward Wed 16-Oct-13 00:39:39

Yeah what is her friend all about? DH thinks she is going to try to swizz Roy of Hayley's money!!

FeckOffCupofBatBlood Wed 16-Oct-13 17:06:33

I hate Hayley's new friend too, that "has it spread to your ears now" comment was so cringy. Hope she pegs it soon.

ProfYaffle Wed 16-Oct-13 17:11:30

I hate those kind of characters in Corrie. They exist purely as a cypher for an established character. They're always badly acted and unconvincing then disappear once the established character has learned something.

Clawdy Wed 16-Oct-13 19:49:05

Yes,I hate all her smiley death jokes and the way Hayley turns into a giggling simpering idiot whenever she sees her.

MrsSJG Wed 16-Oct-13 20:28:45

loved Roy and Hayley paddling in the sea, again almost on the verge of tears sad

FannyMcNally Wed 16-Oct-13 20:42:15

Brilliant episode!!

Mary - I hope this won't impact on the buffet arrangementsgrin

squoosh Wed 16-Oct-13 20:47:09

Please tell me they get to dance together in the ballroom!

FannyMcNally Wed 16-Oct-13 20:48:51

I wasn't expecting this at all! Go Kylie! Get out of this one David!!

BlatantRedhead Wed 16-Oct-13 21:00:37

Erm so who is in the right here? David, Nick or Kylie?

I she'd yet more tears at Roy and Hayley ffs...

FannyMcNally Wed 16-Oct-13 21:07:00

How can the lodger (Gail) throw the owner (David) out? Or didn't the buy-out actually happen?

ajandjjmum Wed 16-Oct-13 21:14:17

The ownership of the Tilsley house is one of life's mysteries!! grin

squoosh Wed 16-Oct-13 21:17:24

They should brick up the house whilst they're all inside and paint a red cross on the door.

Clawdy Wed 16-Oct-13 22:08:50

Feeling a bit sorry for David....Gail showing who's favourite son here..she's not blaming Nick at all. Why on earth didn't Nick keep his mouth shut about the accident when Kylie asked him? Now his own marriage is wrecked too.

Impomea Wed 16-Oct-13 22:23:29

I loved Corrie tonight !

Just one thing Gloria mentioned the bank of Rita to Dennis .Did she get that from reading this thread?

eddiemairswife Wed 16-Oct-13 23:11:27

It must be warm in Weatherfield; Leanne, Stella and Eva were all wearing sleeveless dresses when they were having a drink, and Kylie in the church. I'm surprised that church allows Corrie residents to use it; there are always unholy scenes. Perhaps that's why they seem to have such a high turnover of vicars.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 16-Oct-13 23:12:01

I really enjoyed it too. Surely Liz won't get off with Michelle's dad? Who has Liz had a fumble with on the street? I keep getting her conquests mixed up with Diedres.

creepycadence Wed 16-Oct-13 23:13:26

Aw the scenes with Roy and Hayley were so moving tonight. Good episode with the David/Nick/Kylie stuff finally coming to an end. I'm gutted they've spilt though.

Agree about Hayley's friend being weird. She's very nosey - when she was asking about Hayley's son and said - so he was born out of wedlock? - how cheeky!

Liz was with Lloyd before she went away.

I really cant stand Michelle or her dad. Her constant whining and telling off. I just think oh fo fuck off when she comes on screen being all high and mighty. Her dad is a massive waste of time why is he even here??

Do*!

WhoKnowsWhereTheBonnetsGo Thu 17-Oct-13 19:47:14

Liz was also with Owen briefly, hence the narky conversation with him and Anna. I think he two timed Eileen with Liz. She was married before to that drummer with the cowboy hat (Tricky Dicky from EE) and therefore indirectly reponsible for the introduction of Michelle as a singer with his band.

Blackpool scenes were fabulous - there's a great behind the scenes video here.

I enjoyed watching Steve squirm too, great gurning. Michelle and Liz could gang up on him I think. Michelle's dad is awful, he wasn't like that before IIRC?

It's been warm enough for short sleeves here today smile. Stella and family are really growing on me now they're leaving. I don't know who to feel sorry for in the whole Platt debacle, none of them comes out well from it.

creepycadence Thu 17-Oct-13 20:09:06

I really like Stella's family, they're a good bunch, 3 generations of women sticking together. Though Gloria does annoy me a bit. I like their relationships with one another though.

I like the Stella clan too.

ooh yes I remember the drummer with the cowboy hat, I liked him!

LazyGaga Thu 17-Oct-13 22:22:26

Vern! He was funny. I thought Liz and Lloyd made a good couple but she just seemed to cool off on him overnight, was weird. My phone keeps correcting Liz to Lizard!

I think Michelle's dad has been like that every time he's been in (minus the goatee). How could the lovely Liam sprang forth from those loins?

I don't think Hayley's pal is after money, but I do think she's going to put ideas in her head about ending it all before it becomes to unbearable.

I feel very sorry for David actually. However it's given the scriptwriters a handy way to tie it in with Tommy getting the sack leaving Weatherfield, from what I've read.

LazyGaga Thu 17-Oct-13 22:25:22

'sprang' confused

... have sprung forth etc etc. ..

BreconBeBuggered Thu 17-Oct-13 23:43:50

I can't watch any of the scenes from the Rovers without wondering where young Stevie Mac suddenly got all that hair from. Surely there used to be mostly skin on the top of his head?

Lazygaga- Lizard is prob more accurate grin

Ermm...where is everyone? grin

Thought there would be much talk about Roy and Hayley.

WhoKnowsWhereTheSlimeGoes Sun 20-Oct-13 17:06:16

Haven't had time to watch it yet.

Pegfreak Mon 21-Oct-13 16:05:23

I can see both Hayley and Roy's points of view but I have to say I'm siding more with Hayley, it's her life and death after all. I do sympathise with Roy too but it's not a view I hold. I hope they can come to some compromise soon.

In other news, thank fuck Michelle's booked two tickets for Dublin. grin

When someone asked David what he'd do he said something along the lines of "Dunno, stay at a mate's". I didn't know he had any.

I hadn't noticed how annoying Fiz was until you lot mentioned it. Dammit.

MrsSJG Mon 21-Oct-13 19:57:43

You could see that Sally was talking from her real life experience

Pegfreak Tue 22-Oct-13 15:04:40

I thought those were good scenes between Roy and Sally, especially when Roy thanked her for sharing that. There's not enough quiet dignity in soaps I'm looking at you Eastenders.

I thought that too MrsSJG.

FannyMcNally Wed 23-Oct-13 08:13:47

On a lighter note, I'm going to love Liz! Great put-downs, a match for Tracey and a hen-pecker for Steve. Already she's made an enemy of Beth and it sounds like Anna might have to keep her away from Owen! Lovely stuff!

The convo between Liz and Beth was hilarious!

Also I love seeing what Liz is doing with her hair/ clothes/ make up its so tacky and outrageous! When she first got back from Spain she had sparkly ribbon things in her hair.

MurielTheActor Wed 23-Oct-13 10:16:50

I've said for a long time over and over again that David Neilson is the best actor on telly. Good to see him rewarded by some award or other...
SO going out on a limb here to say that he is better actor than Hayley and it is his, yes PegFreak quiet dignity that is the real pull here.
FanBloodyTastic grin

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 23-Oct-13 10:40:11

I'm on holiday ? Am I missing much ?

Impomea Wed 23-Oct-13 10:56:08

I like Liz and missed her when she left but now Imiss the StElla Gloria combo. Am sure Liz will grow on me but she does seem to be a bit too Bett now.

I thought Ratboy owned the house .How can Gail ban him from his own property ?

Ladytron Wed 23-Oct-13 20:03:58

So now we know what happened to Tommy.
Tracey back to her bitchy best grin

NuggetofPurestGreen Wed 23-Oct-13 20:05:07

Well it's Kylie's house too I suppose so can she kick him out??

How ridiculous was that Tommy exit bit? He knows David an Tina are friends, he was grand last week when Kylie was accusing Tina of the affair. They could have come up with something better.... Like a sick relative. They love that one!

FannyMcNally Wed 23-Oct-13 20:12:42

Yes I thought that was a poor device too.

eddiemairswife Wed 23-Oct-13 20:15:56

Do people actually do that in real life? Get cross, pack a bag, grab their passport, get a taxi to the airport and go....... where? Surely a better exit can be thought up. What did Tommy do for a job? Did he have a job? Does it matter anymore?

NuggetofPurestGreen Wed 23-Oct-13 20:21:41

Yeah especially for something like that. He'd just have gone over the pub and shouted at her or gone to the Weathy arms to sulk like Tina said. Even if he'd walked in on them riding each other he wouldn't have gone off to the airport. Was totally stupid.

He worked in the garage with Ty eddie

eddiemairswife Wed 23-Oct-13 20:28:34

Lucky that Kev's coming back then , otherwise Ty would have to employ an out-of-work knicker-stitcher or barmaid to help at the garage.

Agree Tommys exit was awful it was obv very rushed. Cant he have gone to stay with a relative in England, did it have to be abroad?

NuggetofPurestGreen Wed 23-Oct-13 20:38:46

Yeah he could gone to see his gran/adoptive mam who's on her own since his grandad/adoptive dad died.

theliverpoolone Wed 23-Oct-13 22:20:45

Anyone know what the history is with Tracey and Tina - why they hate each other? I can't remember any previous stories with them but they obviously hated each other before the ring incident.

1944girl Wed 23-Oct-13 22:29:31

Eddiemairswife

I am always amazed there is enough work for two mechanics in that tiny little shed of a garage anyway,Plus the fact they can both knock off together for lunch and go drinking in the Rovers.

ajandjjmum Thu 24-Oct-13 00:00:24

Can't believe that if Tommy was soooo mad, the whole street didn't hear him kicking off!

Ellenora5 Fri 25-Oct-13 19:27:08

Bit of a silly way for them to write him out wasn't it.

I'm not loving the right to die storyline at all, not sure it will go the way they want it, I think viewers would have preferred to see Roy care for Hayley to the end, I could be wrong though and I'm sure they will play it brilliantly.

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 25-Oct-13 19:39:35

I know there's bound to be the same stories across the soaps but I was reading something about the Hayley storyline and the producer or one of them was going on about it being groundbreaking. Yeah except they've already done right to die in Enders and Emmerdale.

Also I liked the bit the other night when Soph-ay was saying she didn't see the attraction of Tim and Sally said 'well of course you don't you're a lesbian.' Ha ha.

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 25-Oct-13 19:58:50

This Tina Tracey thing is yawnsome. Also their insults to each other are really crap. And Tommy exit still makes no sense. And Ty being annoyed with Tina over it. Really poor writing.

GoldenGytha Fri 25-Oct-13 20:33:38

Not a fan of Tracy, but I've never been able to stand Tina and her constant whingeing and being horrible to people.

The sooner she leaves, the better.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 25-Oct-13 20:34:40

That bloody Jenna should become tyes apprentice. I can't stand her or Sophie. Bloody miserys.

Ladytron Fri 25-Oct-13 20:44:17

What's Liz wearing?!

FannyMcNally Fri 25-Oct-13 20:51:25

Is Tim being on the level with Sally? I was called away and missed his conversation with Dev.

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 25-Oct-13 20:54:10

It's a bit confusing Fanny I saw it all and don't really know what's going on. Did he just change his mind when she was all contrite about being controlling.

FannyMcNally Fri 25-Oct-13 21:18:24

Oh ok. I thought I'd missed some amazing relationship advice from Devlar.

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 25-Oct-13 21:33:04

No I think he was just saying get over and tell her and man up (hate that expression angry). And not to hug her goodbye in case it gave her mixed messages hmm

Lighthousekeeping Fri 25-Oct-13 22:14:37

Do you think dev and sal will get together?

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 25-Oct-13 22:44:46

Oh God I hope not Lighthouse. Also see them lining up the Peter/Tina affair? STUPID.

magentastardust Fri 25-Oct-13 23:37:15

What is annoying me is why hasn't Becky been mentioned whatsoever-its very unrealistic. Fair enough if the couldn't get Catherine Kelly back for an episode or two but surely Becky would have called or emailed -especially with Kylie still being in contact. She was supposed to be like a daughter and she is only in Barbados!

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 25-Oct-13 23:57:50

That always happens though magenta. Eileen's seen
Todd once in about ten years and he's only in London. And Carol Jackson didn't go to her kids' weddings or come back to Walford when her 15 year old had a surprise baby or when her husband got killed - It's clearly impossible to travel from Sarf London to the east end there must be a forcefield it something that you can't get past.

theliverpoolone Sat 26-Oct-13 00:17:33

Yes, Nick's life has been in the balance and David's had a baby, but no sign of Sarah hopping on Easyjet from Italy to visit....and loads of stuff has gone on at the Webster's, but Rosie hasnt managed to make it up from London hmm

Ellenora5 Sat 26-Oct-13 00:27:16

I reckon Bethany will make an appearance soon, she will turn up on the doorstep and the story will be the usual, I had a row with my mum, she is so unreasonable and I hate her and I am not going back to Italy, I want to live here with you granny gail even though I haven't seen you in years and you have reared a psychopath, and I will be so troublesome but you will forgive me, because after all you forgive everything don't you grin

eddiemairswife Sat 26-Oct-13 08:12:19

I think Todd is coming back soon.

ajandjjmum Sat 26-Oct-13 09:24:19

Rosie was trapped in the jungle!! grin

FannyMcNally Sat 26-Oct-13 09:55:07

Peter and Tina doesn't bear thinking about. Yuk! This animosity between Tina and Tracey, has it just surfaced over the jewellery or is it a long-standing thing? Can't say I've ever been aware of it before. I'm rooting for Tina all the way! Can't stand Tracey and her droopy mouth.

1944girl Sat 26-Oct-13 20:09:23

I can see a sudden return of Bethany as well.
''Knock knock who's there?''
''It's me granny Gail, I want to live with you now.I've just arrived from Italy all by myself, and my mother decided not to tell you I was coming as she wanted you to have a lovely surprise''
''How lovely to see you Bethany, so pleased you have not lost your Lancashire accent''
''Thankyou I never learnt to speak Italian but everyone in Italy could still understand me, funny is'nt it''
''Why is your mother not with you?, Oh never mind, just come in and stay with me, I'm sure you'll fit right in again''

Pegfreak Mon 28-Oct-13 16:30:36

This Tina and Tracy fighting thing is a lot of crap, is it not? What's the point of it all? It's a really weak storyline, IMHO of which I have many thlgrin.

What happened with Sally and Tim? I missed bits - I saw that she was giving him the easy way out and then he went to make a cup of tea, next thing they're kissing. What did I miss?

Finally, but most importantly, why can't that whiney wee shite Sophie just STFU and bugger off while she's at it?? thlangry

Nospringchickendipper Mon 28-Oct-13 17:12:08

Tina appeared to wandering around the street on Fr.One minute she was in the garage then the pub, having a cup of tea on the steps of the factory and outside the loan shop.
Just wish Tina and Tracey would carry on their feud somewhere else like Eastenders it's the sort of story line they tend to do,people being really nasty to each other.Corrie is better at comedy.

ajandjjmum Mon 28-Oct-13 17:41:09

I wonder if they've had to quickly whip up a storyline as Tommy disappearing in a hurry ruined the one they were working on?

Pegfreak Mon 28-Oct-13 17:44:28

Ah, that would make sense Ajandjj. I agree Nospring - they should sod off to Eastenders and give us some peace thlgrin.

eddiemairswife Mon 28-Oct-13 18:19:01

Sophie is getting a new girlfriend in December. (yawn)

TensionSquealsGhoulsHeels Mon 28-Oct-13 18:22:33

Isn't the Tina whatshecalled (Sarah Lou) coming back to corrie as well? I'm sure I read that somewhere.

alemci Mon 28-Oct-13 20:07:06

Sinead is really frumpy and dresses like auntie Pam

Ellenora5 Mon 28-Oct-13 20:57:20

I need a job girls, so I'm off to the cobbles to get one, plenty going there, it's amazing how they can just walk into one five minutes after loosing one grin

So is Jenna going to bugger off to live with Headband? The whole Tina/Our Tracey/Peter thing is ridiculous.

Impomea Mon 28-Oct-13 22:06:57

You're in luck Ellenora Ty needs some help in the garage better grab your spanners !

Lighthousekeeping Tue 29-Oct-13 01:31:13

Have Liz and deidre even had a scene together yet? I thought they were best mates.

Ellenora5 Tue 29-Oct-13 14:04:03

Brill Impomea, I will head in to the garage, I don't think it matters I know nothing about cars does it, Ty will have me trained up in no time smile

Lighthouse, I was thinking the same, the used to be best buds, I don't remember Eileen being friends with Liz, I'm glad Gemma dumped Sophie, she is such a whinger no one could put up with her

1944girl Tue 29-Oct-13 22:15:28

You can not only get a job instantly in Corrie, but a house as well, and it comes fully furnished, If you have a baby or young child there is 24 hour childcare and most of seems to be free.
The perfect place to live.
And you can work in a garage and not get your hands or overalls dirty.

Impomea Wed 30-Oct-13 08:05:04

And the brilliant thing about the houses in Corrie it that although they are small on the outside they are huge inside and you can have all your family and friends living with you (if you want)

I think StElla was really kind to leave all the furniture etc for Steve -all he had to move was a small box and the washing up !

ScaryHalloweenName Wed 30-Oct-13 11:13:24

You can have the pub toilets actually being next door at the Barlow's house but magically when inside number 1, they don't take up any space

MurielTheActor Thu 31-Oct-13 10:35:48

Nick (actor) cannot handle the scenes he's given to play. It's making me so cross <cross face>
Usually Corrie producers/directors/writers are fairly good at only handing out storylines appropriate to actors' abilities but they have got it SO wrong this time.
Unwatchable.

Pegfreak Thu 31-Oct-13 16:43:37

Ha ha! I thought Nick looked like he was struggling because of his injuries, Muriel, not cause he becouldn't do it grin.

Can Leanne speak at all without sounding like a bloody fishwife? thlangry

That Grace is going to be a troublesome wee bugger, isn't she. Mind you, Faye's a bit of a wee shite as well so I'll struggle to feel much sympathy when whatever's going to happen happens.

1944girl Thu 31-Oct-13 20:10:56

I agree about the actor who plays Nick.He is dreadful.

Mistyshore Sat 02-Nov-13 01:07:46

I thought the scriptwriters were trying to play to his strengths, even at his happiest his expression says "in pain and struggling". Awful actor.

qazxc Sat 02-Nov-13 07:40:14

You have to admit that the wooden acting of the guy who plays Nick's acting was perfect for all those comas scenes. grin

Sally about Tracey: 'its probably her actual broomstick' LOL grin

Clawdy Sat 02-Nov-13 23:06:54

Aw,am I the only one who found myself wanting Leanne to take Nick back....

qazxc Sun 03-Nov-13 08:11:22

Why on earth did they think it was a good idea for nick to take simon. He's been snapping at people, losing his temper a lot because of his brain injury. He clearly isn't fit enough to look after children yet.

BlatantRedhead Sun 03-Nov-13 13:41:17

Well Leanne hardly holds the moral high ground does she. Thought it was a bit docking of her to be telling him she didn't know if he could be with him - considering he's forgiven her the exact same 'mistake'.

BlatantRedhead Sun 03-Nov-13 13:41:56

*dickish not docking, damn phone

Impomea Sun 03-Nov-13 13:52:13

Nick is almost angelic compared to some of the things Leanne has done in the past .I can't believe how superior she is now, wasn't she once a prostitute ?
I also want them to get back together for Simon's sake.

qazxc Sun 03-Nov-13 14:43:39

I think that Leanne would forgive the sleeping with Kylie. It's the lying about it for months, the fact that he could've fathered the baby, the fact that loads of people knew and she was kept in the dark, that is harder to swallow which i understand TBH.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 03-Nov-13 19:34:35

That Grace is a little so and so isn't she?! Felt really sorry for Nick and Si at the party.

alemci Sun 03-Nov-13 19:37:27

yes leanne always adopts that attitude. I'm glad Gloria told her some home truths

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 03-Nov-13 19:39:03

This might be a stupid question (don't have kids) but why did Si need someone to bring him to the party? Like he's about 10 and there was a few other adults there - couldn't Leanne or someone have just dropped him off and collected him? Or do parents normally stay at the parties too?

They always stay at parties in Corrie, in real life most parents dump and run from about age 5.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 03-Nov-13 20:04:09

Thanks whoknows I did get the impression from on here that parents didn't stay.

qazxc Mon 04-Nov-13 14:56:24

I am also at a loss as why nick was there, was kylie and gail not there? i thought i saw them by the stairs at anna's.

Ellenora5 Mon 04-Nov-13 16:07:09

Yep dump and run in real life, my line was always "ah no I would be in the way", or "this has worked out really well actually, I have an appointment and it will be great to by myself", of course once you bring a cake and some other crap they can't object to you leaving grin

Ye Kylie was there, not sure about Gail, there were enough adults, no need for Nick to be there, that Grace is a right little wagon.

Lighthousekeeping Mon 04-Nov-13 21:36:29

Are Stella and Sheila grant really leaving?

magentastardust Mon 04-Nov-13 21:48:03

Why is Tim giving Sally a hard time about leaving Faye for 1/2 an hour when he left her for days on end a couple of months back?

Lighthousekeeping Mon 04-Nov-13 22:51:45

It's a silly storyline. What about Todd coming back? Is it for good?

NuggetofPurestGreen Tue 05-Nov-13 08:55:20

Was thinking the same magenta but then again Tim didn't know he'd left her, Faye was supposed to be at Anna's but just didn't go.

Is 11 too young to be left for a few minutes while at the shops these days?

That Alex dude was a terrible actor. Todd's not much better mind.

Why was Roy decorating in the dark? Did he not have a pound for the elctricity meter?

Impomea Tue 05-Nov-13 10:44:47

The Todd storyline is boring .I wonder who they will bring back next ?
Kev? Jez Quigly?

Are they not planning to bring Curly Watts back?

MurielTheActor Tue 05-Nov-13 18:48:40

Did love Anna's line to Roy 'You look like no one owns you' grin
Quite like Todd being back.

eddiemairswife Tue 05-Nov-13 22:30:40

Guess what! Todd becomes a taxi driver.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Wed 06-Nov-13 20:11:38

did todd go to the stage when he left corrie? his soap acting is atrocious! you can tell he's been on stage.

and why the hell did Eileen let him stay? he's really not a likeable character. he couldn't even smile when she said he could stay. still looked like a bulldog chewing a wasp.

eddiemairswife Wed 06-Nov-13 20:15:56

Hayley was wearing my nightie!

HumOlive Wed 06-Nov-13 20:17:48

Todd is just shit isn't he? The acting is Balamory level.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Wed 06-Nov-13 20:23:35

thieving Hayley! shock grin ask her for it back!

yes balamory is about right.

you could see him thinking through his lines in his head! and there was no reaction to the other actors' comments. no smile, no pause for thought just straight into the next line. awful. get him gone corrie!

FannyMcNally Thu 07-Nov-13 16:55:57

Just re-establishing this thread on Threads I'm On. I haven't watched the last episode yet but agree that Todd's return isn't worth getting excited over.

So Todd and new dude were supposed to go to NY on their holidays and new dude lent Todd money for the holidays and Todd never showed at airport then so new dude came round shouting the odds at Eileen looking for his cash.

NuggetofPurestGreen Fri 08-Nov-13 19:38:56

I actually think Nick is acting reasonably well some of the time, he looks really sad when he realises he's forgotten something. Like the bacon sandwich.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 19:56:34

grin @ nugget's phone!

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Fri 08-Nov-13 19:58:46

KenDoddsDadsDog Fri 08-Nov-13 20:59:04

Thanks nugget !

FannyMcNally Fri 08-Nov-13 21:21:44

Ooh I've forgotten why Nick hates Todd! Did Todd try it on with him once or something like that?

Not enjoying Hayley and Roy scenes at the moment.

Owen is coming across as the nice guy - please catch Fay and Grace out soon!

Although I like the Liz/Lloyd/Michelle/Steve comedy quartet, I don't like them ganging up on Steve! Take the mickey out of Tracey if it has to be anyonegrin

alemci Fri 08-Nov-13 21:22:02

liz and Michelle were really irritating tonight about Steve going to college.

don't you want to slap grace

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 21:22:35

ooh todd! you rude boy!

ohfuck hayley still alive. she told roy after seeing her new friend in the hospice that she will be ending her own life at a time of her choosing as she doesn't want to be out of it on morphine and lose Hayley. she wants to die as herself. so roy couldn't cope with this and they had a massive row, she wnet to stay with fizz and whilst there collapsed so ended up in hospital. meanwhile roy decided to redecorate the bedroom, Hayley came home early from hospital and doesn't like the changes, also, she told roy she was going to see friend but roy thought it was too soon out of hospital so she didn't go and found out today that friend died. the discussion about Hayley choosing her own death goes on.

the 'toddical' son returned as nugget has posted and nobody likes him. cant blame them, he needs taking down a peg or two grin

what else? emm, tina put a brick through tracey's shop window as tracey was goading her about tommy leaving and her dad being 'crazy' so tina snapped, police were called and rob made a deal with tina to pay the cost of repair if tina apologised to tracy as long as tracy didn't find out. tracey found out. cant remember how that was settled.

faye and her friend grace are causing havoc between tim and sally, sally and anna, anna and owen and now tormenting mary.

liz McDonald is back in the pub with steve and michelle. oh yeah, steve and michelle own the pub now (not sure if you know that or not)

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 21:23:26

Ohwhatfuckeryisthis Fri 08-Nov-13 22:30:13

I have seen bits-is it my telly or is Liz's mouth a bitconfused now? That grace is a bad un. Is it the same actor playing
Todd?

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 22:33:16

yep same a bit.

I haven't noticed liz's mouth. I sit wonky? grin

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 22:34:16

no. I don't sit wonky. hmm

I meant is it wonky? grin

Bakingnovice Fri 08-Nov-13 22:39:07

Liz's hair?! It's like a weirdly layered lions mane.

Will they just get rid of Tracey and rob now. Boring. And what's going on with Tina? She's become an annoying little brat. Nicks acting is dire. All I can see when he's in screen is his ears. And sorry but in real life he wouldn't be living with kylie. They both acted slutty and shouldn't be forgiven. E dry time I watch all they both say is ' it was a mistake why won't they move on?' Because you fuckwits there are some lines you never ever cross.

And don't get me started on toddigal son. Terrible terrible acting. What do virtue think they can possibly achieve by bringing back one of the most boring characters ever?

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 22:42:43

I saw a spoiler about tina but wont say here. really hope it's not true though. it would be so shit if it is.

Ellenora5 Fri 08-Nov-13 22:50:17

"Toddical" grin love it

Nugget, your phone needs a medic wink

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 08-Nov-13 23:22:32

This dropped off my Threads I'm On and I couldn't find it.

Anyway, I'm getting bored of the Hayley story. Hayley is annoying me. I think the Roy actor is doing a great job though.

Grace is a little bitch, isn't she? I hope she is out of it soon. Felt very sorry for Mary tonight.

I'm bored at the moment. Grace is a nasty bit of work, I may not like Owen but he seems to be a much better judge of character than Anna. Just grateful that Gary and Izzy have vanished.

I felt sorry for Mary too. Although it is wholly unrealistic that she can just live on the streets in that giant camper van.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 08-Nov-13 23:36:04

You know, Who. I had actually forgotten all about the existence of Izzy until I read your comment. I didn't even wonder about her when Gary was decorating with Owen.

Anna is a vile character. In fact the writers seem to have made her two characters, the vile, useless annoying one and a rarely-glimpsed thoughtful and sympathetic one which bears no resemblance to the other one.

FannyMcNally Fri 08-Nov-13 23:37:22

Yes, I'd love to know who the poor sods are that have that huge van outside their window 24/7.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 23:38:20

oh I had forgotten all about gary and izzy!

yes Hayley is irritating me too now. I think she's being uncharacteristically nasty. I know soaps tend to do the whole 'dying person lets their tongue run loose' thing but it just isn't Hayley unless she has been bottling all this up for years and years.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 08-Nov-13 23:39:23

xpost with anne! grin

theliverpoolone Fri 08-Nov-13 23:42:52

I'd completely forgotten about Izzy too! But now seem to remember her going back to work and Gary going part time, or did that not actually happen? confused

FannyMcNally Fri 08-Nov-13 23:43:20

Although I'm fed up with the Hayley storyline, the person who plays Roy is a bloody brilliant actor and if he doesn't win Soap Actor of the Year they'll have me to answer to.

Agree about Roy, he is a fantastic actor. Even when he has had ludicrous storylines (being pursued by Mary, sleepwalking, accused of parenthood by Tracey) he has managed to carry them off brilliantly.

Yes to two Annas, sometimes she can be very wise, perceptive and kind, most of the time she is nasty, self-serving and completely oblivious to what others round her are really up to, it just doesn't work.

Bakingnovice Sat 09-Nov-13 07:03:27

Oh Anna is a nasty bitch. As for Hayley I'm getting cross that they've turned Hayley into this monster. She's become selfish and irritating and don't like it. Hayley wouldn't be like this all the time. Roy is completely out acting Hayley, and the storyline isn't as powerful as it was at the start.

Grace is horrible, is she related to Kirsty?!

Please don't mention izzy and Gary. It's nice to have a break from that family and Katie. When do cindy and Sheila leave?

Impomea Sat 09-Nov-13 11:46:35

Just catching up -did Anna say that Faye could go to the concert because she had been "good" ?So the bullying of Simon and Nick at the halloween party didn't happen ?confused

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 09-Nov-13 21:20:32

Yeah was thinking that too Impomea. She was horrible all week and Anna is a sap.

Todd is horrible isn't he?? Julie works in the factory and he's slagging it off!

GideonKipper Mon 11-Nov-13 15:06:29

Well, "that London" has changed Our Todd, he used to be such a nice, sweet boy. Hard working, studious and earnest - what's happened?!

FannyMcNally Mon 11-Nov-13 18:43:03

Anna and Owen keep kissing. Do you think this is a build up to one of them cheating? If so, my money's on Owen having a drunken night's shagfest with Sally grin

sicily1921 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:12:27

Todd....just bleurrgghh..pass me a bucket pleeeeease. And why the constant smug look? He's got nowt to be smug about. And why do Mancs always come back from London and such places wearing dodgy gear i.e. the long (Richard O'Brien) type coat? Gawd I hope his storyline is short. And Hayley is really starting to piss me right off with her nastiness to Roy.

squoosh Mon 11-Nov-13 19:38:33

Wow Tina is starting to look like George 'lizard skin' Hamilton!

insanityscratching Mon 11-Nov-13 19:47:02

Squoosh I've just said similar only I thought David Dickinson grin

Bakingnovice Mon 11-Nov-13 19:48:24

Stop being mean Hayley!! Poor Roy.

How many more gay characters can the writers for into a tiny street in Manchester? We've got sawphie and Jenna, Sean, Marcus, Todd and Todds boyfriend Alex last week. Flippin eck.

Todds acting is getting worse. Is he Bethany's dad?

Chipstick10 Mon 11-Nov-13 19:58:09

Todd is awful. Wtf is that hair do all about!

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 11-Nov-13 20:02:44

baking no Bethany's dad was Neil Ferns and he got killed in a car crash as while later. He didn't really have anything to do with Bethany and Sarah Lou.

Todd and Sarah did have a baby but she went into early labour and the baby died just after he was born. The Platts maintain that it was the shock of finding out Todd was gay that sent Sarah into labour and so it's his fault the baby died so that's why they hate Todd

<needs to get out more>

Bakingnovice Mon 11-Nov-13 20:08:01

Oh yeah. It's coming back to me now. Gail and Eileen have had some epic fights.

Ruffcat Mon 11-Nov-13 20:42:24

Can someone clarify for me, is Hayley asking Roy to euthanise her or she will do it and wants him to hold her hand

GoldenGytha Mon 11-Nov-13 22:51:45

Hayley wants to end her life by her own hand Ruffcat

She isn't asking Roy to euthanise her himself, because of the trouble he will get into if he does, she just wants him to support her decision.

aliciaflorrick Tue 12-Nov-13 14:01:34

I can not remember a time in my life that I have not watched Corrie, but I'm seriously thinking of dropping it. I don't watch it properly these days, I find it tedious, I don't like half the characters, nothing is gripping.

I have only been watching for the Hayley storyline, because I think both the actors are awesome, but I can't believe I'm disliking Hayley at this time. Her story started off so well. I think the days of Corrie being watched in this house are numbered (and I can't believe I'm even thinking that).

Bakingnovice Tue 12-Nov-13 16:55:48

I agree Alicia. For the first time in decades I deliberately missed a lot of corrie this year. The Karl story finished me off. But the Hayley story reeled me back in. Like you I don't like the way it is going. Why make one of the all time good characters of corrie so nasty? I know Hayley must feel angry and frustrated but she's become a horrible person. With Todd back and all the other unlikeable characters (anna, Faye, Owen, Leanne, Stella, Sheila grant, Tracey rob etc) I have to say I don't often watch anymore.

I had my first proper break from Corrie in years this summer too, I've been watching since around when Nick was born, had a break while at Uni (around 25 years ago) but watched ever since. Didn't bother through the summer this year and didn't really miss it, sad to say. I did get back to it this autumn, but it's not a patch on how it used to be. Just enough little gems of moments to keep me going, but only just.

AnneEyhtMeyer Tue 12-Nov-13 18:41:19

I'm close to stopping watching. I gave up EE earlier this year, and I haven't missed it. I think there comes a point when there are more annoying characters than decent ones and it isn't worth it any more.

I definitely think they have made a mistake with the Hayley storyline. I'm just willing her to die now.

NuggetofPurestGreen Tue 12-Nov-13 19:37:59

I gave up Enders earlier this year too Anne and that was traditionally my favourite soap. Corrie's getting too much for me now, might be time to leave it too. What would I do with all the extra time though in the evening? wink

Am I the only one that doesn't think Hayley is being nasty? Or am I not paying enough attention? Roy is annoying me more!

I gave up EE about 10 years ago and Emmerdale around the same time, which was when the DCs came along and early evenings were bedtimes. I dip into both occasionally but have no real interest, but I watched Corrie from a much younger age and am more attached to it.

Haven't seen it since last week, so can't comment on Hayley.

GideonKipper Tue 12-Nov-13 23:01:52

I think I prefer raging Hayley to sickly sweet, nobly suffering while gazing at the stars Hayley.

Maybe they're gearing up for Owen to have an affair with Liz?

How is Kylie managing to pay the mortgage on a few shifts at the Bistro and with Gail on a cleaner's wage? Why isn't David citing his rights re his house and access to his child?

FeckOffCup Wed 13-Nov-13 16:05:31

Whatever happened with Audrey's building work and her staying with Maria and Marcus, haven't heard that mentioned for a while?

purplepuppet Wed 13-Nov-13 18:24:20

And on another note, is Todd wearing Ryan's clothes?

Vikki88 Wed 13-Nov-13 19:11:29

I said this on another thread yesterday but Hollyoaks is by far the best soap on TV right now. None of the Corrie storylines are doing much for me and I hate where they've gone with Roy & Hayley - it's just frustrating to watch. I think Eastenders is still good but it'll get better again when Danny Dyer finally arrives! grin

On Corrie, isn't Todd basically a totally different character to what he was before he left? hmm

thistlelicker Wed 13-Nov-13 19:55:17

Has Carla really peeled carrots using a sharp n
Knife ffs???

ajandjjmum Wed 13-Nov-13 21:40:12

Carla has clearly never peeled a carrot in her life!!! grin

Love Dev's little comeback to Tod's smartarse remark about remembering Dev being quite sporty - 'and I thought you'd go places - just look how wrong we both were!'

Hope Hayley and Roy get back to their usual relationship - at least, as much as is possible. Thought it was quite clever tonight.

Haha I noticed Carla's carrot peeling skills too! Do people really grate with knives?

Im not liking Todd atm, is he supposed to be a horrible character? He's obv a massive workshy sponger.

Impomea Fri 15-Nov-13 10:58:02

I agree Todd is awful I think he is up to no good in the cab office and I don't like this because Steve and Lloyd are the only good things about Corrie at the moment inmho.

Why does Tina have to be paid to look after Si ? Both his "parents" work in family businesses and there are loads of extended family to help out-St Ella,Gloria,Gail,Kylie don't like this storyline at all.

But loved Hayley playing Freddie Mercury to cheer her up, listening to him makes me happy too.smile

Pegfreak Fri 15-Nov-13 17:56:12

Didn't see Carla and Her Carrot but am wondering Desperate if she was scraping it as opposed to peeling it? How sad is it that I'm considering watching it on iplayer to check my amazing powers of detection and knowledge of All Things Carrot? blush

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 16-Nov-13 13:08:27

No Corrie last night now? Flippin sport on I suppose.

How boring is the Carla wedding dress thing?

Felt sorry for Tina even though it's a stupid storyline.

So it is mentioned on this thread that Izzy hasn't been seen for a while and then suddenly she pops up?

thenightsky Sun 17-Nov-13 20:20:22

Who else wants to see Carla go down the aisle in an awful monstrosity of a dress just so Hayley stays happy?

<sob>

FannyMcNally Sun 17-Nov-13 20:49:36

Aargh! When you think that Brian can't get any worse! He gets awful storylines and plays an awful character. He's such a drip you could be forgiven for thinking he works for Kirk in packing not realising he has a degree and a responsible job. GO TO WALES NOW! YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED!

Bakingnovice Sun 17-Nov-13 21:49:26

Only corries dire scriptwriters could turn a potentially amazing storyline relating to Hayley's death into a bizarre unsavoury euthanasia storyline. Hayley is being selfish and horrible. The other day she asked Roy why he couldn't show any compassion?! Of all people she should know that one of Roy's attributes is the lack of emotion on the surface. Why have they flip reversed Hayley. I'm looking forward to her end as I can't stand this plot. Why was Hayley acting as if Jane was her best buddy? She's only known her for 5 episodes. And the whole funeral was scripted to convince Roy at every turn that Hayley should get her way. Also, we've all loved Hayley for who she is but the writers are determined to constantly remind us that she was Harold. Forget Harold! It's Hayley we are interested in. I really thought this story would be poignant and heartwarming. Instead it's horrible seeing Roy suffer at the hands of an in characteristically vicious Hayley.

This horrible Hayley plot interspersed with godawful grace and flippin Faye is enough to make me switch off.

Sorry, that was me that mentioned Izzy.

Who was it that Hayley did a wedding dress fir a few years ago?

I fell asleep watching it tonight confused

Ellenora5 Mon 18-Nov-13 00:35:13

Bakingnovice, I'm with you, it's not a great storyline anymore, in the beginning it was so sad and we were all tissued up and ready to go for every episode and now it's pants. You are so right about Harold, who cares anymore, certainly not Roy, I can understand her wanting a dignified death but she is not actually acting within her character at the moment and comes across undignified. As for the stupid wedding dress storyline, christ on a bike, how stupid is Carla, to think she will actually walk down the aisle with Peter in the first place, ah it's just getting annoying now.

And, I'm just about ready to wave off Kylie and her kids, you would swear she was some sort of saint to begin with, ehhh, she sold Max to her sister, or have the scriptwriters forgotten that bit, along with the fact that she shagged her brother in law.

I'm taking a deep breath now and will calm self shortly

Bakingnovice Mon 18-Nov-13 06:11:05

Yes I agree. Re Hayley and Roy, one of the nicest things about their relationship was that Hayley was one if the few people who got Roy. She would never ask Roy to support her decision to kill herself as she knows Roy's way of thinking literally all the time would not support that course of action. They've killed off one if the nicest soap relationships.

As for kylie I couldn't agree more. She was a totally vile character. Sold max, came back and sold him again, and again, broke up beckys marriage slept with nick and is now portrayed as some earth mother. I'm on David's side. Nick deserved what he got. Him and kylie crossed the line.

Really really detest the Tina and Peter storyline.

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 18-Nov-13 06:55:20

I am so close to the off switch now.

Todd is a terrible actor and the whole biscuit conversation was forced and unfunny.

The Carla / Peter / Tina story is boring and predictable and Saint Kylie is pissing me off.

I see Audrey is back at her house with no further mention of building or money troubles. hmm

eddiemairswife Mon 18-Nov-13 11:19:36

Strange about Audrey's house. I was convinced Owen was up to no good when he said major work needed to be done. Sometimes it seems as if the script writers start a story and then forget all about it. Hasn't Simon got any of his own friends instead of being forced to play with Fay and Grace?

Pegfreak Mon 18-Nov-13 17:18:58

There was a Doctor Who episode on the telly last night and Todd was in it. I wish he'd go back there. I agree, I'm getting to the stage of not making too much of an effort to catch every episode.

cantheyseeme Tue 19-Nov-13 15:18:45

At least shes not gonna die at xmas smile im really excited for the tina/peter thing grin

cantheyseeme Tue 19-Nov-13 15:20:36

Also, i was realllly young when todd was first in it, has he always been such a twat?

ajandjjmum Wed 20-Nov-13 18:56:34

He's not only sad, he's pretty nasty now, which is not nice to see.

DM and I were saying (Corrie is our little ritual!) how odd that Audrey has this lovely, big house, and yet all of her family are squeezed into a sardine can. Lo and behold, she gets landed with David! Definite short straw there. grin

eddiemairswife Wed 20-Nov-13 22:10:19

Why isn't Deirdre going to Peter's wedding?

NuggetofPurestGreen Wed 20-Nov-13 23:06:46

I didn't get that either eddie. Something about Ken wasn't it? Is Deirdre supposed to be gone off to Canadia or wherever Ken is or did I miss something?

What a snore fest this evening. Who cares about bloody Grace and Faye? And who wouldn't have guessed that Nick had gone to get Simon?

And why is Brian acting like a complete twat!??

eddiemairswife Thu 21-Nov-13 11:15:46

Brian has never been believable as a Head in the current educational climate. Maybe 30 or more years ago he would have been more typical. As Simon is in Y6 and Bessie Street is fairly near why on earth does he have to be taken and collected each day?

Impomea Thu 21-Nov-13 11:59:47

I agree Simon could probably walk to school on his own or go with whoever takes Max as they are family .Tina being his part time childminder is just a link to her next ridiculous storyline!

Brian has acted like a complete twat for the entire duration of his stay in the series IMO (I don't mean the actor, I mean the character). Actor does well given the atrocious scripts and bits of story he gets given.

I was wondering why Simon can't walk to school on his own. He is an odd character, when he first came along aged, what, 5 or 6 he seemed old for his age, but he doesn't seem to have matured since and now seems young for his age.

NuggetofPurestGreen Thu 21-Nov-13 22:26:24

He has whoknows. Always wondered what Julie saw in him. He's a gobshite of the highest order.

I was thinking the same about weird ageless child Simon!

YoureBeingASillyBilly Thu 21-Nov-13 23:37:18

Im getting so bored with it atm.

I wish they'd give us a real mystery with a shocker conclusion that no-one could guess. Like someone going round fitting secret cameras in all the houses then sending anonymous letters to some other neighbours telling them what norris said about mary behind her back and that jason sleeps with a teddy and the light on and it turns out to be emily bishop doing it grin

itsonlyapapermoon Fri 22-Nov-13 00:09:18

Brian annoys the hell out of me. All he does is navel gaze and bloody eat. He's like a pelican with a beak full of fish. Julie is annoying too, but I love her wardrobe :D
Hope they get rid of that awful little shit Grace soon.
Can they just kill Hayley off already? That storyline is a snoozefest too.
It's becoming a chore to watch sad

itsonlyapapermoon Fri 22-Nov-13 00:10:51

Also-am convinced that Simon is actually Lloyd's illegitemate child. grin

itsonlyapapermoon Fri 22-Nov-13 00:11:41

Bah! Illegitimate.

VioletPlum Fri 22-Nov-13 10:46:33

Can't Nick have a shave now he's out of hospital? I don't get how Deidre and Ken can afford to scoot off to Canada on a whim - they must have spent thousands on divorce lawyers over the years, surely there's nothing left now.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 22-Nov-13 11:20:04

I suppose Ken & Deirdre have never paid rent or a mortgage though, living in Uncle Albert's house, so they have had plenty left over to fritter away on divorces.

I think we need another tram crash, or maybe an explosion at the garage and wipe out Sean, Grace, Faye, Stella, Hayley, Carla, Peter, Rita, Brian, Todd, Michelle, Tracey, Simon, Sophie, Jenna, Tim, Chesney and his weird girlfriend, Maria, Anna, Gary, Izzy, Katie, Kevin and Ken.

Looking at that list I really think I should stop watching. I hate virtually the entire street.

Ken and Deirdre took out a hefty mortgage to pay Tracey's legal bills for the murder case IIRC.

Anne - so you want to keep Dev?

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 22-Nov-13 11:40:37

Oh yes, I think you are right, Who.

I like Dev in a "so bad he's good" sort of way.

VioletPlum Fri 22-Nov-13 13:12:52

So they must be skint then.

I'd keep Peter because he's nice to look at. And Jason. And Norris obviously grin

All of the Platts can go, including Audrey. Tracey Luv and Rob are top of the hate list.

aliciaflorrick Fri 22-Nov-13 13:41:10

I've been thinking if I lived on that street the only one I think I'd get on with is Deirdre, because she seems good for a laugh. The rest would do my head in.

Oh and possibly Eileen - before she met the fireman and was a brilliant character.

I'd tolerate Sally because she keeps the front of her house nice, and Emily because I need a babysitter.

I'd never go in the corner shop because I think Dev's a letch and he'd make my skin crawl.

I'd stay well away from all those girls in the knicker factory. In fact I'd never move to such a small street which had a factory on it. And look at the amount of businesses it's got, it's about 10 houses long. It's got two bars, it's own doctors, a garage, a knicker factory, a café, a corner shop and a newsagents. I live in a village of 1000 people and we don't even have a bar these days, everything is closed.

AnneEyhtMeyerInSilver Fri 22-Nov-13 13:44:25

Oh yes, Rob is on the tram-crash / explosion list. Forgot him.

Audrey can stay because I have fond childhood memories of her as Mrs Popoff.

TimeAndRubberBulletsInSpace Fri 22-Nov-13 14:02:21

Just a reminder that Sexy Steve is mine and is not allowed to leave the street but cowbag Michelle can go ASAP

AnneEyhtMeyerInSilver Fri 22-Nov-13 14:16:40

Oh Sexy Steve isn't going anywhere. He is lovely.

VioletPlum Fri 22-Nov-13 20:00:58

Bless you both, you do know Steve will look exactly the same after the zombie apocalypse as he does now don't you?

TimeAndRubberBulletsInSpace Fri 22-Nov-13 20:22:57

You say that like it is a bad thing...

qazxc Fri 22-Nov-13 20:42:31

oh feel quite sorry for simon, and usually he leaves me quite cold.

Ellenora5 Fri 22-Nov-13 21:27:56

Ah poor Simon, I felt sorry for him to qazxc, but my god I had to laugh at Tracey, she thinks she has been hurt the most in all this, her selfishness knows no bounds, she doesn't even see it. I hope Faye and Grace get well punished for this, but I bet Anna lays all the blame on Grace and lets Faye away with it.

VioletPlum Fri 22-Nov-13 21:52:02

You say that like it is a bad thing

grin

eddiemairswife Fri 22-Nov-13 22:10:36

I ought to feel sorry for Faye, but I don't. She's had a difficult life: being adopted quite late, no contact with birth mother, unreliable birth father, horrible Owen as 'stepfather', disappearance of original stepfather.

qazxc Fri 22-Nov-13 22:16:48

Peter, didn't take much for him to distracted did it? one eyelash flutter from the oompa loompa and it's "sure i'll go for a drink with you and be all sympathetic about your boyfriend troubles! Nothing else to do!". You really realise how orange she is when she stands next to Fiz.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Fri 22-Nov-13 22:22:06

Poor poor simon! That was awful. I usually watch corrie with the dcs but im glad theyre not here to see that as i think theyd have found it a bit upsetting. Poor simon.

What punishment should faye and grace have? What will it take to sort faye out- apart from booting graces ass off the street grin

Clawdy Fri 22-Nov-13 22:56:11

The Simon story was really disturbing, not sure what the outcome will be for the bullies.

songlark Fri 22-Nov-13 23:08:29

Simons the worst and most irritating child actor ever.

BlatantRedhead Fri 22-Nov-13 23:09:30

Oooh that one did actually pull on my heart strings - poor Simon. I remember only too well the humiliation of being forced to do things against your will at the hands of other children sad his talk with Peter made me well up. Children can be such cruel creatures, but it's not usually portrayed so to such a nasty level on TV - well done Corrie scriptwriters, that was well done I thought..

qazxc Fri 22-Nov-13 23:40:29

Anna will as per usual do absolutely fuck all about the situation and keep backing Faye up, despite the fact she at the very least very much suspects that her and grace are bullying simon, throwing stones at mary's van, etc...
It matters to her far more that Faye likes her than what is actually right. So she'll just go on pandering to her rather than try and discipline her and have Faye say stuff like "i hate you, you're not my real mum anyway, i want to go back and live with dad, ....."

AnneEyhtMeyerInSilver Sat 23-Nov-13 08:35:46

I'm really hoping that this will lead to Anna deciding that she can't cope with Faye and sending her back.

That was sad, poor Simon. Anna is totally out of her depth isn't she?

FannyMcNally Sat 23-Nov-13 10:35:53

Why did Tracey have to have Amy while Steve was at his class? She lives with him half the week and while he's working Tracey doesn't need to take her then, presumably she's in the pub being cared for by her Gran and Michelle. What was different about those few hours?

Also why would Tracey give her house keys to Grace and Fay seeing as she is only a few paces away from her front door and could easily have nipped out for a few seconds to get the dog?

Must spend less time thinking about these contrived situations....

alemci Mon 25-Nov-13 16:56:32

where's Owen gone.

Impomea Mon 25-Nov-13 17:08:42

I think he and Gary are working away .Anna did mention something but I wasn't paying attention.

YoureBeingASillyBilly Mon 25-Nov-13 20:55:53

Arrghhh! Couldnt you just punch pathetic tim!

"I come from a long line of rubbish dads"

Yeah so dont bother trying. Pathetic waste of air. hmm

theliverpoolone Mon 25-Nov-13 23:33:01

I think they're handling the cyber-bullying thing well, showing the seriousness of it by getting the police involved. Faye did look genuinely scared at the end of tonight's. Leanne was surprisingly absent though, wasnt she - she would normally have stormed round to Anna's with that video evidence.

Pegfreak Tue 26-Nov-13 14:05:33

There wasn't room in the programme for two screechers, theliverpoolone.

I can see where they're going with the Tina/Peter thing he had that smiley look about him at the end there <swoon> but it's not really ringing true.

Wishfulmakeupping Tue 26-Nov-13 14:14:40

Think the cyber bullying storyline has been well written the way the video has come out etc but it seemed really odd that Leanne wasn't in last nights episodes agree with theliverpoolone. She would have sorted Anna out too

YoureBeingASillyBilly Tue 26-Nov-13 15:14:15

I also noticed that creepy, 'drooling' look he did after tina aswell pegfreak. And no, its not believable. Tina wouldnt go for peter in a million years.

MrsYoungSalvoMontalbano Tue 26-Nov-13 19:23:01

this bullying has been the best storyline in ages - and in anti-bullying week too! Little Simon is a star actor!

YoureBeingASillyBilly Tue 26-Nov-13 19:25:33

I didnt realise it was anti bullying week. Did corrie have a helpline number at the end of the show?

Also thought the bullying storyline is really well done. They are all really good actors too, poor little Simon Id be heartbroken and furious if that happened to my ds.

I reeeeeally dont want Peter to have an affair esp with Tango Tina. I love Carla and want to see how she looks on her wedding day, which is only a couple of weeks so hopefully the affair wont be suspected yet.

NuggetofPurestGreen Tue 26-Nov-13 20:07:50

Holly City which I've never seen is after coming on after Eastenders - Karl's jail sentence seems to be CEO of Holby!

NuggetofPurestGreen Tue 26-Nov-13 20:09:26

Yeah don't buy Tina and Peter at all. I think he's attractive but she'd never go for him. Do you think it's a cobbled together storyline to replace whatever her original exit storyline involv
