ajandjjmum Wed 24-Jul-13 19:50:16

Going to be a sad thread! Wonder if they'll have caught Karl out by the time we get to the end of this one?

Thanks WireCat.

AnneEyhtMeyer Wed 24-Jul-13 19:58:51

I'm worried about Audrey. I think she may be about to lose everything.

They are playing the Hayley storyline brilliantly. So subtle. I love Sylvia.

whatkungfuthat Wed 24-Jul-13 19:59:29

Oh Hayley hmm

Thanks for the new thread Wirecat

PaintedBottom Wed 24-Jul-13 21:02:06

Perfect thread title <sob> This will be the perfect thread to honour crown Queen Hayley crown

PETER IS 46!!!!!! faints

Peter is tiny!! Carla towers over him.

The Hayley storyline is being played to perfection.

VianneFox Wed 24-Jul-13 21:23:53

I too love Slyvia.

And Hayley.

And Roy.

I wonder if Becky will make a wee comeback at some point, considering how close they were?

Wuxiapian Wed 24-Jul-13 21:46:16

I'm not sure I can bare to watch Roy suffering...

PaintedBottom Wed 24-Jul-13 22:19:54

I really hope Becky comes back, I loved her character and I really didn't want her to leave I realise I may be alone with that opinion

alemci Wed 24-Jul-13 22:39:45

sick of sophie mouthing off all the time. paul has apologised to Lloyd and Sophie wasnt even there but keeps going on plus david is an idiot.

good story with hayley and roy

AmIthatHot Wed 24-Jul-13 23:41:00

Really just signing in to the new thread.

Agree that Sophie should shut up, and Peter is small but I still would

Poor Hayley, this is going to be a hard few months

Ellenora5 Thu 25-Jul-13 01:12:07

Queue up to slap Sophie, she needs to follow Rosie to where ever she went and take the boring Gemma with her, awful couple, and have no storyline whatsoever, so it looks like Tim will be staying, can't wait to see what po faced expression Anna will have when she hears that, will she send Owen round to sort him out.

Hayley is going to be so brave throughout the whole process, I tear up every time I think back to Monday and Roy holding her hand, seriously I can't even type it and I start, I will have to compose myself for all future episodes, I will adopt a more dignified approach (I hope) but will keep tissues nearby

Impomea Thu 25-Jul-13 09:18:41

Brilliant! The Hyley Cropper Appreciation thread.

Why do the best caracters always leave -loved Becky too (don't miss Ken)
Do we know why the actress is leaving ?I hope she will still be on TV .She would be great at comedy I think

deepfriedsage Thu 25-Jul-13 09:32:50

Sophie is rabbit.

VianneFox Thu 25-Jul-13 09:43:27

I saw her saying on GMTV that she had recently done a play and wanted to do new things now, and implied that everyone knew that Hayley would have to die as why else would she leave Roy?

Poor Roy, how will he cope?!

VianneFox Thu 25-Jul-13 09:45:12

Also agree that Sophie needs to go. Actually, I dislike many of the characters at the moment.

MurielTheActor Thu 25-Jul-13 10:12:00

There's going to be so much:
ROY! sad
so just getting in there....

whatkungfuthat Thu 25-Jul-13 10:29:06

If you dislike Sophie now then you'll hate her next week wink

I am quite liking Sally at the moment though, kicking off in the pub. Hopefully we will see some fireworks between her and Anna

Bakingnovice Thu 25-Jul-13 10:38:13

Love the croppers. But please no becky! Loathed her stupid 'I had a tough childhood so self sabotage everything and blame others' act.

Paul is horrible. Jenna is horrible. Anna is horrible. Owen is horrible. Michelle is...... Ok I'll stop there.

whatkungfuthat Thu 25-Jul-13 10:43:14

Becky is too busy doing simpering ads for the Co-op

I loved Becky, the only one of Sexy Steve's many, many wives that I liked. They were great together and I would be really happy if she came back. She is much prettier than Michelle too

whatkungfuthat Thu 25-Jul-13 12:03:10

I like the idea of Becky bring happy in Barbados with the new guy and son. Loved her final scenes where she destroyed Tracey.

thistlelicker Thu 25-Jul-13 12:13:19

Isn't Becky guy who she went off
Wit now in hollyoaks!! Becky should come back for funeral! Bonk Steve, miraculously get preggers by him and go bac to the Caribbean!

whatkungfuthat Thu 25-Jul-13 13:19:56

Michelle is going to be rather sidelined once Peter joins the factory isn't she?

I love Becky too. I can never understand why the Windasses were approved for adoption but Steve and Becky weren't.

I think Sylvia has the makings of a new Blanche, we need more of her.

Begginyouformercy Thu 25-Jul-13 14:04:52

I liked Becky at the end and would love to see her back.

Sophie was always a PITA but I wish she would just get on the last bus out of Corrie, with her GF (yawn).

With regards to Peter's height, these things are irrelevant when horizontal.

And her girlfriend's fuck awful mother could go too. Lloyd used to love a good time, what happened?

Ladytron Thu 25-Jul-13 15:26:51

Signing in. Anyone else swoon when Carla was telling Peter why she loves him? I rewound that bit and watched it again <fans self>

Sneery Sophie is vile. And just when we thought we were seeing the last of Tim, Sally changes his mind!

WireCat Thu 25-Jul-13 15:57:03

Oh my god, Roy & Hayley, wah!

I hope Trouser Smell doesn't lose his job. None of them on the Street have decent jobs.

Jenna had a decent job & lost it.

It is impossible for that street to job them all & support them all!

eddiemairswife Thu 25-Jul-13 16:08:21

I have never liked Sophie; even as a child she was dull. I do wish Eileen could be given a really good storyline. I remember when she first appeared. she was funny and bolshy with a good line of repartee. Now she seems to have lost all of her sparkle and has become a downtrodden victim of circumstances. It all seemed to start when Dennis[?] was killed in a motor -bike crash and things have never looked up since.

I don't like Sophie either, I get that she was sticking up for Jenna but she was about a week late it just looked OTT.

Would LOVE Carla and Peter to get married, their wedding would be fab!

I'd like Becky to come back I really liked her character and the friendship with her and Roy/ Hayley.

valiumredhead Thu 25-Jul-13 17:20:52

She won't die will she?sad shock

I love Roy and Hayley.

Dh and ds laughed at me when I got teary watching the other nightsad blush

whatkungfuthat Thu 25-Jul-13 17:51:23

I think Peter will end up with Leanne, not sure why

Viviennemary Thu 25-Jul-13 17:58:18

I was amazed too at Peter being 46. Karla is the love of his life. Hmm don't believe that. I just love Sylvia. Have gone off Anna. Never liked her at first then not too bad. Now just a sanctimonious pain in the neck. Not Becky back please. And get rid of Tracey B. She's one of the worst ever.

Begginyouformercy Thu 25-Jul-13 18:17:31

Oh no, I wouldn't like Peter to get back with Leanne - I'm fed up with her nippy fishwife voice when she's whinging (when isn't she?).

Who's Trouser Smell?

WireCat Thu 25-Jul-13 18:23:07

The fireman = Paul = Trouser Smell.

Forget who gave him that nick name!

whatkungfuthat Thu 25-Jul-13 18:25:38

Guilty! He looks like he would really smell up his Farah slacks, and has greasy looking skin and hair that looks stinky

alemci Thu 25-Jul-13 19:06:45

don't forget his crime of fashion Blouson puce jacket to add to the equation.

valiumredhead Thu 25-Jul-13 19:14:47

I hate Paul and his weak chin. He has slobbery lips too that I am fixated with.Ewww!

KenDoddsDadsDog Thu 25-Jul-13 20:11:39

Lol @ slobbery lips! He's def not a catch is he?!

I'm really going off Leanne so don't really care about we finding out what Nick has done.

Thing is, even if Peter Barlow had cheated I'd still rather shag him than stoat-face Nick. I dunno what it is about that family that there's a beaver for a mother and two sons who resemble a weasel and a stoat - its like tales from the fucking riverbank. Poor Kylie's baby has got no chance.

janesnowdon1 Fri 26-Jul-13 10:49:57

Badgers - tales of the riverbank - made me laugh!!!

Over the summer David is going to ratchet up his campaign and cause lots of trouble between Carla and Peter and Leanne (where has Simon been lately - not with Leanne, Peter or Deirdre?) I reckon.

I also think that the producers have listened to joe public and perhaps Mand will go as she is rowing with Lloyd over the Paul/racist stuff (hooray!). I always though that Lloyd would get with Stella he's great behind the bar of the Rovers.

Audrey seems to have gone from being as rich as Rita to a Pauper -how?

Who do you think is going to be crucified financially in the pawn shop?

KareninsGirl Fri 26-Jul-13 11:15:11

I don't get why Carla just doesn't threaten to tell the police about Tracey/Rob stealing the silk. Surely that would have resolved the whole accumulator win/betting shop handover fiasco? How the hell did traceyluv and rob get the upper hand taking their thieving/rob's certain return to jail into account?

janesnowdon1 Fri 26-Jul-13 11:18:09

I agree Kareninsgirl. Also, surely 6 months rent for the bookies in a backstreet would be nowhere near the £34k Rob was not shifting negoiating on. Seemed like such a random agreement.

whatkungfuthat Fri 26-Jul-13 12:26:55

Yep, they seem to have conveniently forgotten about the silk. Perhaps we should tweet this thread and the last one to the Corrie twitter feed?

Nick looks like he is always wearing his sex face

eddiemairswife Fri 26-Jul-13 12:39:37

I think Carla didn't inform the police about the silk because Rob is her 'baby brother' and she feels responsible for him and doesn't want him to go back to jail.

Bakingnovice Fri 26-Jul-13 14:02:38

I used to love evil David (remember when he tried to kill Gail?) but this revenge is making me switch off. Good one David. Just wreak havoc on everyone except your beloved, cheating, low life kylie.

alemci Fri 26-Jul-13 14:46:34

I totally agree Karin and said that on the other Corrie thread. Most people would use that to stop Rob getting the shop.

Begginyouformercy Fri 26-Jul-13 14:56:23

its like tales from the fucking riverbank

Nick looks like he is always wearing his sex face

^We need a ROFL smiley for this thread grin

Will Kylie's baby be a watervole, perchance? More likely a crayfish. confused

Nick looks like he is always wearing his sex face

Can someone pass me a teaspoon? I need to gouge out my mind's eye

alemci Fri 26-Jul-13 17:25:23

maybe gail will be building a dam in the next episode

maybe a baby water rat for kylie and david

FannyMcNally Fri 26-Jul-13 18:53:53

I think it's really bad form when they let a week go by (4 or 5 episodes) and not mention anything to do with the Karl storyline. He's a criminal on the loose fgs and it's BEING DRAWN OUT FOR FAR TOO LONG!!! The Craig bit a couple of weeks was tantalising but nothing's happened since. Seeing as I hate most of the street now, I'm only really watching for him to get his comeuppance.

AmIthatHot Fri 26-Jul-13 20:39:51

I swear, Tracyluv is a pure, evil bitch and I would never tire of smashing her in her gurning pus. Cow

valiumredhead Fri 26-Jul-13 20:46:34

I'd forgotten all about Karl!

MrsSJG Fri 26-Jul-13 20:58:18

Brilliant acting by Roy and Hayley tonight, sat here in tears. It's a storyline very close to me. I lost my uncle to the same cancer, though he only had 19 days between being diagnosed and passing away hmm

ImperialBlether Fri 26-Jul-13 21:00:02

God, that was upsetting. I burst out crying when she said she didn't want to go.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 26-Jul-13 21:20:44

I was crying through most of the second episode.

MrsSJG - oh my goodness that's quick. It seems like it is a silent killer. I didn't know anything about it until this storyline. Incredible that you can get so ill without knowing.

LoveBeingItsABoy Fri 26-Jul-13 22:35:04

Just watched tonight's and cried my eyes out. This is being done in such a different, realistic way. It's so touching.

KareninsGirl Fri 26-Jul-13 22:37:34

I got all emotional tonight as well. Poor Hayley, poor Roy! Waa!

As for Carla wanting to protect Rob: I think he's ever so slightly overstepped the mark now though. Carla needs to sing like a birdie to the rozzers!

Nice engagement ring she chose though smile

I wish the Karl thing would just end now but I think Hayley's storyline is taking pride of place and the story writers probably don't want us to be 'distracted'.

Sorry for your loss, mrs SJG

eddiemairswife Fri 26-Jul-13 23:04:47

Craig's mum mentioned that he seemed to have something on his mind. I think it's slowly building up to something he saw on the night of the fire. Carla must have loads of money. Who knew there was so much cash in knickers. Oh Hayley.

Ellenora5 Sat 27-Jul-13 01:33:18

Carla paying for her own engagement ring was a tad weird, "we'll just put it on my card for now", so that's a marriage meant to last.

What's the point of Audrey and the house repairs, I still think Emily is trying to play a joke on Norris about the house.

Roy and Hayley, I said it before but I tear up everytime I think of it, we are going to see some brilliant acting from both of them, as an aside I loved Roy getting stuck into Tracey and Fizz should have smacked her one in the chops, evil bitch that she is, how can Deirdre bare to be around her, I mean we all love our kids and do our best for them, but seriously, after all the horrible things Tracey has done, including murder, wouldn't you think Deirdre would just disown her, she has just robbed her own childs' money that her grandparents saved up for her and her mother is drinking in the pub with her....aarrgghh angry

whatkungfuthat Sat 27-Jul-13 15:31:59

Just caught up, oh Hayley hmm

I wish they would just get rid of Tracey-Luv, no one is that much of a cowbag in RL without getting a regular kicking. She needs to take her rubbish BF, The Gurner, with her.

John Michie's leaving do was last night so presumably they have already filmed his exit. Wonder how long it will take to be screened?

centralmum Sun 28-Jul-13 09:31:33

The Hayley story is going to be hard. Tears already and it is just going to get worse.

I think Karl resolves itself soon. I am sure he has left already and I think filming is about 6 weeks in front of what we see.

ChocsAwayInMyGob Sun 28-Jul-13 11:40:59

Hayley, Roy and Sylvia are currently demonstrating an acting masterclass to the rest of them. I've always thought David Neilson was one of the best actors in a soap as he underplays Roy. He just quietly gets on with it.

As for the racism storyline, it's getting silly now.

And yes, the love declaration by Carla was really beautiful. There's been some great writing recently.

I love Carla and Peter and her love for all things bling! Fab engagement ring, shocking price tag!

I hate the racism storyline too, it could have been done a lot better I think but its gone a bit panto.
Also Lloyd/Paul are going to have a barney in the street...goody hmm

momnipotent Sun 28-Jul-13 12:50:58

Hellow fellow Corrie fans!

I was in tears on Friday watching Roy and Hayley as well. Felt quite pissed off when the scene would switch to something else because I just wanted to stay with those two. This will be a hard storyline to follow. Roy, Hayley and Sylvia are putting the other actors to shame, just phenomenal acting for those three.

I cannot stand Sophie Webster's sanctimony!

Peter Barlow just gets better with age. I'm not very tall either, would work well. smile

PaintedBottom Sun 28-Jul-13 13:09:11

According to IMDB, Mr. Barlow is 5ft 8... I'm 5ft 7 so that could work....everyone's the same height laying down though wink

Every episode with crownHayleycrown is making me cry... I shouldn't watch it as I lost my father in law last month to cancer in a similar way.... but I can't stop watching, because I just love the actress who plays crownHayleycrown, and of course Roy and Sylvia sad <sniffles>

ClartyCarol Sun 28-Jul-13 13:28:10

Really hope SourFace Mandy slings her hook soon - her partnership with Lloyd is the most unbelievable to be seen on national tv. There have never been any scenes with them having a laugh, flirting, smooching, bigging eachother up, sizzling with sexual chemistry, you know, just generally being a new couple in love, so it's then hard to actually take them seriously. I think Lloyd and Stella might get together somewhere down the line after dastardly Karl has been slung in jail.

Peter and Carla definitely have the sexual chemistry thing cracked. I reckon poor Peter was probably about 5ft 10 a couple of years ago but he's been gradually compressed with the weight of Carla permanently draped on his shoulders grin.

So upsetting with Hayley. I would love a Sylvia in my life, I think she's fab.

momnipotent Sun 28-Jul-13 14:42:32

Agreed Carol. I can't help but compare Sylvia to my own MIL and feel like I got the short straw. Never in a million years would my MIL stick up for me and tell DH to sort himself out.

lol @ Carla being draped over Peter, she really does do that all the time doesn't she!

FriskyMare Sun 28-Jul-13 17:48:25

When DD was 5 we went to Lapland for the day with a plane full of children who had had serious illness, anyhoo, loads of Corrie actors came too, Hayley being one of them. She was fab, spent loads of time with DD and made the day extra special. Denise Welch was also there but hardly spoke to anyone. DD sent Julie a photo of the two of them and she sent back a lovely message. Several years later we saw Julie in Manchester shopping and she remembered us! Lovely person and fab actress.

valiumredhead Sun 28-Jul-13 17:56:17

Oh I'm lucky, my mil is great and has done that lots of times when Dh is being an arse

Bakingnovice Sun 28-Jul-13 23:01:48

Wow wow wow. Roy- Hayley-Sylvia have brought me back into the corrie fold. I agree with fanny and despise virtually every other character apart from these three. Wonderful acting. Please please don't let Sylvia or Roy leave.

I fast forward the other stories, especially anything to do with rob/Tracey/Katie/ fizz/ ches/Karl/fireman. Surely the fireman is next for the chop? Has he even had one episode where's he's not been a greasy sulk??

Impomea Mon 29-Jul-13 08:52:54

Yes Baking the fireman is greasy and slimy but I can just about tolerate him as he makes Eileen happy and she's funny especially love the banter
in the taxi office with Steve and Lloyd.

If I was a script writer on Corrie I would make fat Brenda real and she would be a kind of northern Dawn French and take no nonsense !

Will miss Haley .Do you think that Mary will bustle in to comfort Roy?

EeTraceyluv Mon 29-Jul-13 08:55:39

My dear mother was telling me all about various people she has known who have had pancreatic cancer. Jolly uplifting...

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 09:30:57

Frisky that is exactly what I would have thought. Julie Hesmondhalgh seems really lovely when she appears on the TV as herself. Welch is always banging on about 'her charities' but clearly only does it for self promotion.

Apols if I am repeating myself but I remember Loose Woman from years ago when Nadia S was on it. Julie was on sometimes, and on her first day they got a phone-in from a 'viewer' who turned out to be Welch desperately trying to muscle in. I can't bear her.

Bakingnovice Mon 29-Jul-13 09:33:29

I wish Hayley wasn't leaving. I know she wants to do other things but what on earth could she possible do? She will always always be Hayley. She will never get away from that character.

Might be a dramatic scene coming up involving a lorry...

EeTraceyluv Mon 29-Jul-13 11:34:48

They did the lorry thing with Alison (kevins wife after Sally) and her baby Jake though..

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 11:36:38

Desperate do you know something? [narrows eyes]

Bakingnovice Mon 29-Jul-13 13:12:30

Hayley and the lorry??!! No!

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 13:24:17

I thought it was the warring brothers and the lorry?

ajandjjmum Mon 29-Jul-13 14:11:51

Kevin had a wife called Alison - and a baby? I can't remember that at all!

EeTraceyluv Mon 29-Jul-13 14:20:01

Oh yes - a while back - she had really bad PND and ran in front of a lorry with baby jake (who had got mixed up with another baby I think - may be thinking of something else, maybe someone else had a baby the same time or something)... - was v sad.

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 14:33:16

I was confused about this as I thought Kevin went back to Sally after Natalie Horrocks. (I remember she got in trouble as she flooded the house when Natalie was away and wrote 'whore' in the steamy mirror, so Natalie knew it was her. She had gone there with Kev so I thought they were a couple)

I'd forgotten all about Alison and had to look it up. The corrie site said the baby died soon after he was born and she ran out in front of the lorry due to grief and PND.

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 14:38:43

She snatched Bethany didn't she? Didn't Kevin get her just before Alison jumped in front of the lorry?

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 14:39:18

Was Natalie Denise Welch? Or am I getting confused?

EstelleGetty Mon 29-Jul-13 15:03:01

Oh I don't know how much of the Hayley storyline I'll be able to watch! I've been in floods the last few episodes. They're both brilliant actors.

Why take Hayley, blessed Hayley? Take Nicky Tilsley instead! He looks like he crawled out from a grave anyway. Or Leanne, or Gail, or Beth, or Rob.

EeTraceyluv Mon 29-Jul-13 15:08:06

That's right - it was when beth (who sarahlouise wanted to call Brittney) was born. Natalie was DW - she went off with Des Barnes in the end who got murdered by Jez Quigley due to Natalie's son Tony becoming 'Involved In A Bad Thing'

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 15:47:54

I know who is involved with a lorry crash but don't want to say in case people don't want to know. They're left fighting for their life...

We're in DOD grin

Been a really tear jerking few episodes with Hayley last week. And I think it's only going to get sadder confused

Samu2 Mon 29-Jul-13 16:13:50

It's going to be heartbreaking.

They really need to get rid of Tiny Fireman and Mandy.

I would love Becky to come back for a bit bit can't see it happening.

Clawdy Mon 29-Jul-13 16:49:05

I am so ancient I can remember TraceyLuv being born, and she was called Lynette at first! Her dad,Ray Langton, registered the birth while Deirdre was in hospital and calling her Lynette all the time...she was furious when he admitted he'd registered the name Tracey instead.

Viviennemary Mon 29-Jul-13 17:01:51

I remember Tracey as a baby too. She was in the corner shop in her pushchair and Betty said something like what a little ray of sunshine she was. What changed. (Except the actress playing her!)

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 17:06:24

I hope it's either mini-Barrowman, Sawphie, Lloyd's mum, joyless Jenna, Trouser Smell Fireman, Tracey-Luv or Easter Island Statue who gets squished

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 17:10:15

Jez Quigley! I'd forgotten all about him. Didn't Des Barnes have a boat that got ruined in a fire?

I'm ancient too - I remember when Gail was living in a house share and when she married Brian.

momnipotent Mon 29-Jul-13 17:14:49

I remember Gail marrying Brian and how she used to battle with Ivy. I love looking up the characters and reading some of the storylines. Yesterday I read up on Hayley and was reminded that she had a son! I had totally forgotten that - it was from a tryst before her op, and remember, she found him working in a record shop! I don't think he has even been mentioned again since!

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 17:18:23

Didn't Des set fire to the boat when he found out his wife Steph? was leaving him?

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 17:34:48

Think you are right about the boat / fire / Steph!

Ivy Tilsey was a shockingly awful character - I remember when she had botox or a facelift or something in real life and she ended up with a fish mouth but of course no one in Corrie mentioned it!

I think the bit about Hayley having a son must have happened when I flounced from watching Corrie for a couple of years. So how old is the son now then? Surely he must be in it for the death storyline? Especially in light of how upset Roy was when he found out his Dad died before he could meet up with him again?

EeTraceyluv Mon 29-Jul-13 17:35:57

Des certainly did! he and steph came into it because steph's dad was building the new houses - anyone remember when tracey nearly got crushed as a baby?

dirtyface Mon 29-Jul-13 17:38:40

hayleys storyline is so sad

corrie is shit lately

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 17:40:44

Yes - outside the pub! Such a shame it didn't kill her.

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 18:13:55

I had a Corrie break just after Sarah-Louise got pg. Mine was due to Sky not having ITV at the time and our aerial disappearing during a storm so I couldn't switch onto antenna blush

momnipotent Mon 29-Jul-13 18:55:39

The son must be 20 something now, his name was Christian. I can't remember how it came about that Hayley figured out who he was but initially she told him she was his aunt then there was a big reveal that no, actually she is his father and he didn't react well and Becky went and "had a word". He left Manchester then.

Would love for Becky to come back for the funeral or before.

Samu2 Mon 29-Jul-13 19:39:50

Katie looks brown!

Dh even noticed how brown she is!

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 29-Jul-13 19:59:26

What about when the jewellery shop man said the engagement ring is 'a once in a lifetime purchase'. Except Carla's been engaged 3 times before and Peter's beens married 3 times.

It's a seven times in a lifetime purchase! grin

lovelychops Mon 29-Jul-13 20:01:52

How predictable was that cringe worthy scene with Tracy and Rob, and the paint? Such a cliche. Not to mention their storyline is a snoozefest, I've hardly paid attention to what it is they're supposed to be doing. Kate Ford is a dreadful actress'

Samu2 Mon 29-Jul-13 20:03:42

Was that a glimpse of jealous from Gary there?

MrsSchadenfreude Mon 29-Jul-13 20:09:53

The actress who plays Hayley used to be the barmaid in our local in Kennington before she went on Corrie. She used to moan to us that she only ever got bit parts. grin

Ellenora5 Mon 29-Jul-13 20:16:40

So I see Katie has been at Tinas fake tan while she is away, and yep you could see the jealousy in Gropey Garys eyes, he won't take kindly to this at all being the spoiled rotten pup that he is. Puke at Tracey and Rob, both of them are terrible actors. I had to laugh at Seans face when he said that about the dead, fairplay to Hayley for seeing the humour.

Wtf is Leanne wearing? Disgusting leather jacket with no shape and yucky granny shoes and odd tights.
She looks like she's stuck in 1996.

KenDoddsDadsDog Mon 29-Jul-13 20:52:23

Ah , I love Steve and Eileen scenes.

AmIthatHot Mon 29-Jul-13 21:04:57

I am getting seriously sickened at any interaction between Tracyluv and Rob

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 21:06:41

Gosh, 90% of tonight's was boring rubbish. I just want the Hayley storyline and for the Karl situation to be resolved.

valiumredhead Mon 29-Jul-13 21:13:47

It was crap, and two episodes of crap as well!

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 29-Jul-13 21:42:04

They need another tram crash.

Is Monday the writers' day off?

MrsDeVere Mon 29-Jul-13 22:22:00

When Katie walked into to coo over the baby I thought 'who is that mixed race girl?' I was v. confused

Psycho Platt is also looking a dirty orange colour again, like he hasn't rinsed his spray tan off properly.

I love Corrie but I think I will have a break whilst the Hayley storyline is on. Cancertainment just makes me veer from sadness to fury and back again.

So I think I will mark my place on here so I can keep an eye on what is going on grin

Clawdy Mon 29-Jul-13 22:24:47

Yes,all the silliest or most bizarre and unlikely bits of dialogue seem to be on Monday nights too.

lovelychops Mon 29-Jul-13 22:27:03

desperate- I thought that about Leanne's leather jacket, it was all kinds of wrong!

eddiemairswife Mon 29-Jul-13 22:36:58

whatkungfu Who are mini-Barrowman and Easter Island Statue?

whatkungfuthat Mon 29-Jul-13 23:10:27

Mini-Barrowman is Ryan and Easter Island Statue is Rob, but I am not responsible for that one

eddiemairswife Mon 29-Jul-13 23:30:09

eddiemairswife Mon 29-Jul-13 23:36:33

I really fancied John Barrowman, then I found he was gay and wouldn't be interested; like my 'husband'!!

PaintedBottom Tue 30-Jul-13 01:03:10

TwistedFirestarter and St.Ella are swanning off on holiday next week.... so where the jeff have they been for the last few weeks confused

Impomea Tue 30-Jul-13 08:10:35

Can someone tell me what time of year it is on Corrie Street .I am confused why was Nick wearing a winter overcoat and St Ella a mini dress with no tights.

Only good bit lloyd to Steve -What's your anthem Send in the Clowns?

Feel uncomfortable seeing Gary with that baby -he gets angry to easily

Why does Rob always get a call from "a mate of mine "

WireCat Tue 30-Jul-13 08:42:12

Oh My God!
Catching up with Corrie.
How bloody tanned is Katie?! The weather must have been great in Manchester lately! wink

ChocsAwayInMyGob Tue 30-Jul-13 08:51:05

Wirecat- me and DH said the same. It looked utterly ridiculous. The producers should really limit comedy tans, it was really distracting. Even with the increase in tanning shops, she looked like a comedy sketch. Totally overdone.

dirtyface Tue 30-Jul-13 09:02:47

i know, katies tan was ridiculous :S

newmummy16 Tue 30-Jul-13 10:02:18

Aileen is horrible, Sylvia is sweet, Roy is annoying, def get rid of Sophie & whining Jenna, Peter is handsome I would I do like Bev, and Karl needs to get found out pronto

Owllady Tue 30-Jul-13 10:11:47

I too love Roy, Hayley and Sylvia. I think it's the only reason i watch

Questions though.

What happened to carla's swanky flat?
What happened to paul's swanky house? surely if you both had a house you would move to the nice one
Surely Karl will not get away with murder?
Surely david is going to drop the bombshell to Leanne at some point?

whatkungfuthat Tue 30-Jul-13 10:16:07

Haven't seen last night's yet, do I need to bother? I am just reading the Digital Spy spoilers and seen Mandy described as 'annoyed', no change there then. zzzzzzz

dirtyface Tue 30-Jul-13 10:22:03

*What happened to carla's swanky flat?
What happened to paul's swanky house? surely if you both had a house you would move to the nice one*

i know!! think the scriptwriters have forgotten! grin

lol yes not a two up two down terraced house, although maybe he didn't want to live in his nice house because of the memories of his late wife??

whatkung-- in that case, all your gusses re lorry crash are wrong!

Bakingnovice Tue 30-Jul-13 11:29:46

Can someone please tell me who is involved in the crash!!

It's not st Ella is it? That'll be her third 'at deaths door' storyline in 11 months.

Eileen used to be so funny. Now she just irritates me. And whenever she's out with that tiny fireman it looks like she's taking her dog for a walk.

eddiemairswife Tue 30-Jul-13 12:37:55

Bakingnovice you will find info about the crash on Digital Spy. I don't want to spoil it for people who don't want to know yet.

ChocsAwayInMyGob Tue 30-Jul-13 13:47:05

I thought Eileen was really unsupportive of Paul. He made a thoughtless remark and now his life is in tatters. If I was him, I'd move.

MrsDeVere Tue 30-Jul-13 14:51:43

The Paul storyline is bonkers.

Some random calling his workplace to report a remark made off duty and he gets a disciplinary? Really? hmm

stuff like that just encourages the 'pc gorn maaaad' lot.

momnipotent Tue 30-Jul-13 14:54:50

Agree with everyone else. I don't know how they simultaneously manage to have a Hayley storyline that is so realistic and poignant and the Paul storyline that is just ridiculous.

momnipotent Tue 30-Jul-13 14:55:27

I am in Canada and they have announced that Paul and Eileen are coming to visit my nearest city in September. Should I go?!

Begginyouformercy Tue 30-Jul-13 15:36:59

Did Carla not get rid of her flat because that's where creepy whatsisname raped her? And did Paul not put his house on the market? or am I making that all up?

I was watching Paul acting his little socks off and crushing his beer can and couldn't help think of him as Trouser Smell grin.

How did they manage to get the wee baby to quieten down when Izzy took him from Gary? (I wasn't watching terribly closely, was it just a recording of a baby crying when Gary was holding him?)

Betternc4this Tue 30-Jul-13 15:43:40

I think she is definitely going to die (or the researchers are crap) because pancreatic cancer has the worst prognosis of any cancer , even when caught in the early stages - which it rarely is as it is asymptomatic until it is too late. My DGCs maternal DGM died from it last year.
I think it will make depressing viewing for anyone affected including our family.
I cant help but think why pick this kind of cancer? Why not pick one that everyone knows someone who has survived it , then if she dies at least people affected will know it could have gone either way instead of having their worst fears confirmed iyswim.

whatkungfuthat Tue 30-Jul-13 16:13:15

Trouser-Smell sold his house to pay for the care home iirc. They have had so many ridiculous and poorly researched storylines recently:

Tracey-Luv being pg with twins and having no special medical care despite being a transplant patient.

The Tyrone saga

John Stape

Rat Boy and Kylie getting a mortgage offer, completing and moving Gail into the box room in three days

Norris having the house transferred to his name despite not having a solicitor of his own look over the docs to protect his interest. This must be a plot device as they have completely disregarded the fact that some of the house legally belongs to Gail.

And now Lloyd....

momnipotent Tue 30-Jul-13 16:32:57

How is it that some of the house belongs to Gail?

whatkungfuthat Tue 30-Jul-13 17:02:46

Emily sold some (or all, no one is sure) of the house to Richard Hillman to get money for Spider, which was only repayable on her death. There was a link to an article about it on the previous thread. The ownership should revert to Gail but the writers are seemingly ignoring it.

momnipotent Tue 30-Jul-13 17:04:05

Right! I had totally forgotten that! Maybe that is coming up as a nice surprise for Norris.

whatkungfuthat Tue 30-Jul-13 18:11:05

Not sure, if it does its because there have been articles in the press and on the net saying that the writers have forgotten who owns the house, it could be a hasty rewrite.

Ellenora5 Tue 30-Jul-13 18:33:53

I wonder do the cast groan when they get their scripts, surely even they can tell how awful some of the storylines are, apart from Royley (that's my new name for Roy and Hayley) storyline the rest really is rubbish.

1944girl Tue 30-Jul-13 19:08:54

It's a pity the actress who plays Hayley wants to leave.Because if she changes her mind then Hayley can have a miracle cure, like Tanya in EE.

EeTraceyluv Tue 30-Jul-13 19:23:49

Yes Carla sold her house because of Tony attacking her in it sad almost a good storyline that!

FannyMcNally Tue 30-Jul-13 19:24:15

Couldn't Hayley have a miracle cure and still live with Roy and Sylvia but we never see her? Roy could call up the stairs to her occasionally and other characters could talk about her but she would just remain 'off camera'. They are doing it for 2 other characters at the moment why not a third?

Lila5763 Tue 30-Jul-13 20:28:53

cant stand the David and Nick storyline. Why cant people just say hey you have slept with my wife?

Pixiepie Tue 30-Jul-13 22:21:52

Well Gail must have forgotten too because she was in financial difficulty was she not!!! So inconsistent!! I dont want Hayley to leave. Its such a sad storyline sad

lilmamma Wed 31-Jul-13 03:04:02

hayley does die, she has other things planned and 2 young children, as she wouldnt be the type to leave roy, so only one way out for her. Need t o get rid of tracy luv, she is boring and the child we never see, dont know who minds her all the time sad maria, she is a wooden actress, and only combs a few hairs and makes coffee sad I love sylvia, she makes me laugh smile Dev, he is a rubbish actor, i could gladly smack his face :P

dotnet Wed 31-Jul-13 08:11:14

I never particularly thought of Dev as a rubbish actor, but he made my flesh creep when he was supposedly crying heartbrokenly ever Sunita. Did it drive anyone else up the wall? ('I need (noisy gulps of breath) to keep things normal (noisy breath, gulp, noisy intake of breath, gulp, splutter, another noisy intake of breath) for my lovely wife'...
I REALLY hated Dev's crying technique. Some of the other Corrie actors are absolutely brilliant at it though.

Lagoonablue Wed 31-Jul-13 11:00:13

What is the deal with Gary? Why is he pissed off re the baby?

Samu2 Wed 31-Jul-13 11:13:30

Gary is just a possessive freak.

I think its because he cant do anything right and is finding it hard to bond? I don't know if there is some deeper reason though.

St ella does not die...I was thinking her hair is getting silly, she was talking to Leanna I think it was and her centre parting made her fringe come out about 5 miles from her face. I wanted to part her fringe just so I could actually see her face.

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 31-Jul-13 21:07:34

Mandy is leaving !! Hope she runs away with trouser smell

Pixiepie Wed 31-Jul-13 23:13:50

I cant stand Mandy, I dont think she is a good actress at all and agree that tracy is so boring. I was wondering the same about Gary. I wonder how the storyline will develop.

Leaving? Excellent. Any chance she can take Jenna and Sophie with her?

Maybe paternal PND?

Airwalk79 Thu 01-Aug-13 08:22:59

What was izzy wearing? I'm sure it was a child's top.

I'm finding David quite amusing but can't see how they can drag this out till Christmas.

Mandy needs to go. Now.

Where's Tyrone and the babies?

I could see Gary becoming abusive. He is a very angry little man.

melika Thu 01-Aug-13 09:11:39

I am absolutely furious that they have given Hayley pancreatic cancer, the same time my Dsis has been diagnosed with it. And knowing she dies from it I am distraught watching it. I love those characters too.

And the treatment she is getting already, DON'T BELIEVE IT. My sister diagnosed mid May, still awaiting the operation (first one cancelled).
Hayley is getting hers soon.

The NHS is on it's knees. Don't expect your cancer operation is going to happen next week, more like months.

ChocsAwayInMyGob Thu 01-Aug-13 13:05:21

I'm so sorry about your sister melika. I hope the outcome is better for her!

ChocsAwayInMyGob Thu 01-Aug-13 13:07:44

This week, Leanne gets the letter about Christmas Night. I couldn't help thinking that neither David nor Leanne could take the moral high ground about it.

Firstly, Leanne had stopped to see her ex on the way to the wedding, and both the wedding and the relationship with Nick was called off as a result, and secondly, if I recall, David humiliated Kylie in front of everyone in the Bistro and called her a lapdancer and a slag in front of everyone.

whatkungfuthat Thu 01-Aug-13 13:22:35

Chocs that is what I thought, they were both technically estranged at the time of the 'incident' [boak] I haven't seen last night's yet but the Lloyd/trouser smell story is getting plain stupid now.

I can't bear Mandy, Jenna, Sophie, Gary, Izzy, Tiny Owen the Bearded Terror, Anna Slapped Bum Face or Tracey and her pet. And hurry up with Killer Karl, enough already

whatkungfuthat Thu 01-Aug-13 13:23:26

I just googled trouser smell fireman and this thread comes up grin

ChocsAwayInMyGob Thu 01-Aug-13 14:32:41

Every time TraceyLuv and Rob the Ewok have a love scent together, I keep thinking it's some sort of sixth form school production. The acting is so crap. And have you noticed she often has bended knees when she is standing next to him?

ChocsAwayInMyGob Thu 01-Aug-13 14:32:59

love scene, not love scent. D'oh!

Love scent? Trouser smell? This thread is getting fishy grin

ChocsAwayInMyGob Thu 01-Aug-13 15:32:43

kungfu- does this mean you are famous for inventing a catchy and derogatory term for a soap character? Living the dream! grin

whatkungfuthat Thu 01-Aug-13 16:00:45

I wonder if Dreary could smell the love scent when she went in the bookies just after their boaksome amore?

BringMeTea Thu 01-Aug-13 17:06:01

Melika - So sorry about your sister. I had similar with Jack's storyline and my dad. Had to stop watching for the duration. All best wishes to her and you.

Arisbottle Thu 01-Aug-13 17:20:24

Mandy is leaving corrie, she announced it on her twitter page.

Hmm, I imagine Tracyluv and Rob's love scent is a combination of crabs, chip fat and lynx.

whatkungfuthat Thu 01-Aug-13 18:51:36

Sorry Melika, I missed your post. Fwiw a friend of mine had it and recovered. He still has to be careful about his diet but he is doing well.

Owen the bearded terror grin

melika Fri 02-Aug-13 08:43:20

Thanks, my Dsis has gone into hospital today and it looks like the operation will go ahead, thank God.

She is my Hayley, soft, quiet, never hurt a fly sort of person, only 56 years old and I want her to live just a few more years. Can I ask all of you to say a little prayer or just think of her today. I hoping the power of prayer will help her today.

Consider it done, melika.

PaintedBottom Fri 02-Aug-13 09:45:47

Sorry to hear of your sister melika best wishes to her and all the family.

eddiemairswife Fri 02-Aug-13 10:53:24

I am thinking of your sis today melika.

Nooooooooo! Sylvia can't leave!

eddiemairswife Fri 02-Aug-13 11:00:05

What will happen to Roy without Hayley and his Mum?

Mistyshore Fri 02-Aug-13 11:10:33

Sending good wishes to your sister melika

I'm glad Mandy is leaving, sometimes characters just don't work when they come on to the street, I'm sure she's a great actress in other stuff she's done but there has never been any chemistry with her and Lloyd.

As Hayley is going surely her son (was it Christian?) must be due for an appearance.

FannyMcNally Fri 02-Aug-13 12:32:17

Nooo! Sylvia can't leave! Can't we get up a petition or something.? She was gold the minute she arrived and MUST stay!! Roy's character won't survive unless people like Brian step up as friend and confidante. Mary and Roy won't work - please don't go in that direction. Agree that Mandy has never gelled I think her character is too bland. Is Jenna going with her?

ChocsAwayInMyGob Fri 02-Aug-13 12:36:53

Sylvia is the new Blanche. Who's going to be the new Sylvia? We need a battleaxe in Corrie- it's traditional

WireCat Fri 02-Aug-13 13:54:40

Melika thanks

Gary is a worry. I hope he doesn't do anything to the baby.

This David/Nick story line is getting on my nerves.

mrsdinklage Fri 02-Aug-13 14:22:05

Melika - prayers for you and your sister.

Sylvia can't leave - but my list for those that should is quite long......

Impomea Fri 02-Aug-13 14:30:05

Melika- best wishes to your sister and your family

Think I heard Brian is leaving too

Feel very uncomfortable seeing Gary with the baby.

Clawdy Fri 02-Aug-13 16:23:46

Think I read somewhere that the Gary story-line is him worrying that the baby has bonded with Izzy, but not him, and that he won't be a good dad, not a "Gary resents the baby" story-line.

melika Fri 02-Aug-13 17:01:34

Thanks friends, after a 4 hr operation,Dsis is in critical care now, we are waiting to hear the details of how it went. She is very very poorly. But thank you all.

KenDoddsDadsDog Fri 02-Aug-13 17:54:43

Thinking of you

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 02-Aug-13 18:17:48

I read that too, Clawdy. I think the problem is that Gary is a crap actor and can only do one expression, so it is difficult for him to portray anything but "angry".

Hope it isn't true that Sylvia is leaving. Roy will just be cast adrift.

Hope all goes well for your sister, Melika. Soaps tend to have a nasty habit of bringing up unwelcome subjects at exactly the wrong time, don't they? But I suppose there would be no script if they didn't. Doesn't make it any easier though.

I like Sylvia, would be a shame to see her go.

deepfriedsage Fri 02-Aug-13 20:45:42

Ohhh David.

Ellenora5 Fri 02-Aug-13 20:51:06

Melika, thinking of your sister, a difficult time for you all...xx

Viviennemary Fri 02-Aug-13 21:05:21

I don't really understand the Gary storyline. His behaviour is a bit strange. (Must not take this too seriously!) Please Tracey and Rob get caught with stolen goods and locked up for a long long time. They are just soooo boring.

Viviennemary Fri 02-Aug-13 21:06:43

Didn't see your post melika. Hope all goes well for your sister.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 02-Aug-13 21:07:58

Can't believe it took Nick so long to work out it must be David. He has always been a devious little bugger, so it is hardly earth-shattering that he is the culprit.

So if Karl and St Ella are going away next week does that mean Karl gets found out before then? I really hope so.

Read on Digital Spy that Sylvia is going so it must be true. sad

FannyMcNally Fri 02-Aug-13 21:55:41

Damn! Has Nick found out it's David? I had to miss the last ten minutes. I'll have to watch it on catch-up

whatkungfuthat Fri 02-Aug-13 22:00:04

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 02-Aug-13 22:11:05

ajandjjmum Sun 04-Aug-13 08:26:43

Thank goodness! Perhaps they'll get Karl at the same time!

SlatternismyMiddlename Sun 04-Aug-13 21:46:56

Sorry to gate crash thread - I've been on holiday and just getting up with Corrie. Unfortunately my sky plus didn't record some episodes. Most of it I have been able to work out but what did Eileen's bloke say to prompt the allegations of racism? And why did Emily just hand her house over?

AnneEyhtMeyer Sun 04-Aug-13 22:13:49

TrouserSmell was talking and said "Play the white man". Jenna and Lloyd had just walked into the pub and overheard it. Paul refused to apologise.

I don't think Emily has handed over her house - I think she is saying she will but (I may be wrong) I don't think she actually has yet.

ajandjjmum Sun 04-Aug-13 22:14:38

Paul said a phrase I had never heard, something like 'act the white man' implying that whoever he said it to should do the right thing. Lloyd took exception, Paul wouldn't apologise, and it escalated.

You know as much about Emily's decision making as those of us who watched it. After Norris had been whinging, she just said she was making the house over to him.

whatkungfuthat Sun 04-Aug-13 22:15:49

The house thing is a bit if a mystery to me, we suspect that she is Up To Something. Paul was playing darts with Steve and was winning but his dart fell out so Steve claimed victory (I think) so Paul said "play the white man"

janesnowdon1 Sun 04-Aug-13 22:17:45

Eileen's bloke was playing darts with Steve and told him "to play the white man" which he said was phrase his dad used (means to play fair). He said it just as Lloyd and Jenna came into the pub and it upset Lloyd but trouser smell would not apologise.

We think Emily is playing a trick on Norris showing him how expensive and onerous it is to own a house (so I suppose he will hand it back)

ChocsAwayInMyGob Sun 04-Aug-13 22:19:39

Emily hurt her ankle and Norris selflessly worried about where he would live if she died. She therefore gave the house to him (and all the bills).

Clever Emily is now living rent and bill free in her own house whilst Norris pays the bills and worries about house maintenance.

SlatternismyMiddlename Sun 04-Aug-13 22:41:46

Bakingnovice Sun 04-Aug-13 23:27:33

Did anyone else find it hilarious that 85 year old Emily fell from a ladder into the concrete pavement, flat on her back, banging her head and spine on the floor, and just ended up with a twisted ankle?? Who writes this shit!

Begginyouformercy Mon 05-Aug-13 11:35:04

What's the news of your sister today, Melika? flowers

Don't want Sylvia to go. sad

Begginyouformercy Mon 05-Aug-13 14:11:19

Have just watched the latest episodes. I hope they hurry up with the David/Nick thing cos I'm getting a bit bored with it. Here's hoping Leanne will STFU cos her voice is grating on my nerves. Gail has just turned into a complete fool now - has she always been like that? That's also boring to watch.

Mandy, what a miserable bugger. Lighten up, FFS - lots of folk who go to uni don't have the jobs for which they trained.

I think Mary's a great character - "Babies are magical, like sodastreams" grin grin. Also Eva has great potential - I hope she gets a decent storyline soon.

whatkungfuthat Mon 05-Aug-13 14:44:45

Eva has been abandoned lately, I was glad to see her back.

David reveals to Nick tonight so hopefully it'll all be out in the open soon.

Can Jenna never be a physio ever again or is it just a certain time period?
Is it that much of an offence to be struck off forever?

Lighthousekeeping Mon 05-Aug-13 18:08:41

I don't know but I wish she'd bug gar off and take her miserable young girlfriend with her.

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 05-Aug-13 21:03:47

Oh my, he is the spitting image of him, Squoosh. shock I've never noticed that before. The next time they get a new actor for Nick they should definitely cast him.

Lighthousekeeping Mon 05-Aug-13 21:08:18

I didn't really understand what they were arguing about in the van.

scarlet5tyger Mon 05-Aug-13 22:22:06

flowers for Melika, hope you have lots of support in RL.

I think the writers chose Pancreatic cancer specifically to raise awareness, and funding. It's one of the least known and supported cancer research areas which is why it hasn't had some of the breakthroughs that have been made with other cancers. I know it's already close to Julie Hesmondhalgh's heart and she's started a petition to increase funding for research.

The petition she's promoting can be found here

scarlet5tyger Mon 05-Aug-13 22:23:07

Sorry, I should clarify its not her petition, but she is promoting is.

Mistyshore Mon 05-Aug-13 23:11:09

Oh yeah! Well spotted, I didn't think anything of it. Is that going to be the next dramatic storyline, to be revealed on Christmas Day most probably!

Yes I noticed that straight away. How will it come up I wonder?

squoosh Mon 05-Aug-13 23:26:59

He'll probably get ill and need a blood transfusion from his parents and they'll notice the blood groups don't match.

Sleepyfergus Tue 06-Aug-13 08:04:55

Not been on for ages but sporadically catching up with posts and trying to watch snippets - in the midst of moving house so bit chaotic.

But did catch 2 mins this morning on ITV2 and had to come on especially to get off my chest say FECK OFF MANDY! She riles me senseless, even more than Traceyluv.

Id actually quite like Jake to be Tina and Tommy's. Although it would mean more of Izzy's crying face.

I expected more from Evil David last night, was a bit disappointing.

JessicaBeatriceFletcher Tue 06-Aug-13 09:25:50

Mandy and Jenna are two of the most pointless and dull characters ever to walk the cobbles. And the former is a truly appalling actress.

Absolutely gutted to hear we're losing Sylvia and she's already filmed her last scenes. Stephanie Cole always said she wouldn't stay too long, she never does, but there is no way Sylvia would disappear while the Roy/Hayley thing is going on, she just wouldn't, so I think it must be true that it is due to illness. I hope she gets well soon and would come back. She is going to leave an enormous gap.

ChocsAwayInMyGob Tue 06-Aug-13 09:31:53

Me and DH were arguing about the David/Nick storyline last night. Naturally David was hurt, but he had been vile to Kylie in a full Bistro, calling her a slag and a whore and telling everyone she was a lapdancer. He publicly humiliated her to the point where she wanted to leave Weatherfield.

He's not really within his rights to expect fidelity from someone he has just verbally and publicly abused. He was vile to her and their relationship was over at the time.

momnipotent Tue 06-Aug-13 09:57:55

According to digital spy Sylvia's exit scenes will air this month (so soon!), and that is part of the Hayley cancer storyline. I don't understand that because I can't believe that Sylvia would leave them at a time like this!

On the plus side, it says she has finished being Sylvia "for the time being" which hopefully leaves the door open for a return.

AnneEyhtMeyer Tue 06-Aug-13 10:05:45

Hayley must leave this month too, then, it doesn't make sense for Sylvia to go before Hayley.

dirtyface Tue 06-Aug-13 10:09:51

aww melika i missed your post

sending thoughts and prayers for your sister x flowers

whatkungfuthat Tue 06-Aug-13 10:49:18

Just seen on DS that the outing of Karl starts next week but in a small way

JessicaBeatriceFletcher Tue 06-Aug-13 10:51:50

Anne Hayley is around for a while yet. No sure how they are writing Sylvia out but the impression given is that they've had to change the storyline because it's Stephanie's ill health rather than her just walking off (which she wouldn't be able to do because of contracts).

squoosh Tue 06-Aug-13 10:56:12

What will Roy do with no Sylvia and no Hayley? He's going to be very lonely upstairs in his little brown flat.

squoosh Tue 06-Aug-13 10:57:09

Karl can't go quick enough as far as I'm concerned, they drag the storyline out, drop it for a couple of months, and then pick it up again.

whatkungfuthat Tue 06-Aug-13 11:23:14

I was tempted to give them a blasting on their facebook page about the Karl storyline and rubbish Mandy but people had already beaten me too it.

Clawdy Tue 06-Aug-13 11:48:14

Don't particularly like Gary and Izzy, but I certainly wouldn't wish that the "Tina is real mum" storyline on them. It would be awful. Also feel that story has played itself out now.

squoosh Tue 06-Aug-13 11:49:59

The last time I saw Beth's son he was a short little guy, suddenly he's a giant. Do people think he witnessed Karl going into the Rovers to set it on fire?

AnneEyhtMeyer Tue 06-Aug-13 12:01:54

Oh thanks Jessica. Such a shame about Stephanie Cole. She's the best in it. I hope she's back soon.

They are def leading up to something involving Craig, stealing the paper boy. He obv has something playing on his mind to do something like that.

whatkungfuthat Tue 06-Aug-13 13:03:53

Oh yes Desperate, he certainly has wink

eddiemairswife Tue 06-Aug-13 15:03:20

Look on Digital Spy if you want to know about Karl and Craig. I wish I hadn't come across Digital Spy but now I have I can't resist it.

It comes up on my facebook!

Bakingnovice Tue 06-Aug-13 23:13:38

More upset about Sylvia leaving than Hayley dying. Love Sylvia. She could've been the new Blanche. Blanche was my absolute fave soap character ever.

Maybe Deirdre will be the next Blanche?

ChocsAwayInMyGob Wed 07-Aug-13 14:46:23

I suspect they might be lining up Deirdre to turn into her mother. She has been more of a comedic commentator lately rather than having been involved in any serious storylines.

Also, I loved Mad Mary's throwaway remark the other night "Babies are magical, like sodastreams"

ImNotBloody14 Wed 07-Aug-13 19:36:47

I missed this last episode- what happened to david and nick in the van?

Lighthousekeeping Wed 07-Aug-13 19:54:44

It was an argument i didn't really understand. Nick was on his way back to tell Leanne the truth about Kylie but David was begging him not too even though he'd Been causing all the trouble. What did he think was going to happen? He wanted it both ways. It seemed pointless to me. Why bother casing all the trouble for nick if he didn't want it out in the open?

ImNotBloody14 Wed 07-Aug-13 20:00:50

cause he's a sinister fucker! <I know it's not real>

he loves kylie more than anything- he doesn't want to lose her and he will if she knows he knows.

but he wanted nick to pay for doing that to him.

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 07-Aug-13 20:30:01

The paramedic was utterly ridiculous.

ImNotBloody14 Wed 07-Aug-13 20:32:34

yes that was odd to watch- what were they playing at with that? confused

PaintedBottom Wed 07-Aug-13 20:53:29

Which paramedic KenDodd? The woman who checked David or the man who was grumpy about David getting in the ambulance (I thought he was needlessly rude).

Headbandy is driving me up the bloody wall. I can't wait til she leaves. Poor Lloyd sad

PaintedBottom Wed 07-Aug-13 20:56:42

I recognise the red headed nurse who was telling Leanne to stop prossuring David. Does anyone know who she is?

PaintedBottom Wed 07-Aug-13 20:56:56

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 07-Aug-13 21:43:27

The grumpy one in the ambulance ! I could have acted that better grin
Leanne had some cracking sunburn

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 00:52:58

Dunno who the nurse was was but the neurosurgeon had me laughing with her her massively dramatic "Nick needs to have the blood clot removed OR HE WILL DIE!!!" cut to everyone gathered rounds David's bed, bar poor Leanne, looking like they couldn't give two shiny shites to be quite honest. Made me laugh anyway.

ImperialBlether Thu 08-Aug-13 01:04:22

Was anyone disappointed with Gail's response when Nick was in hospital? She kept saying, "Oh, he'll be alright" - they missed a great opportunity as she would have gone absolutely off the wall if it were real life.

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 01:34:38

Well exactly, that's what I meant. They sat round as if going "Ach, who cares, he'll be fine?" when you'd expect Gail and Audrey to be rending their clothes, gnashing their teeth and wailing out loud. Obviously they were trying to highlight Leanne's distress but it just seemed totally wrong.

Ellenora5 Thu 08-Aug-13 01:35:58

I fast forward through most of it, would David not have mentioned to the paramedics that he has epilepsy, I would have thought that was pretty important after a car accident, agree that no one seemed to upset about it all, I wonder are all the cast just fed up with the same storylines again and again.

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 01:38:11

I think we are, never mind the cast! At least they get paid for it...

JessicaBeatriceFletcher Thu 08-Aug-13 09:09:27

I actually think Jack P Shepherd ain't a bad young actor, you know. I certainly think he and Paula Lane (Kylie) are streets ahead of the likes of Chesney, Katie, Ryan, Jenna, Sophie, Izzy, TraceyLuv, Rob, Maria and Kirk.

I thought that it was strange that nobody got up and put their arm around Leanne when she was so distressed - it was as if they didn't know either her or Nick...

I noticed Leanne's sunburn too! Also she was wearing a casual tank top and still managed to look like she was wearing dodgy clothes, and that was supposed to be her 'just chucked it on' clothing. She needs a wardrobe update.

I was actually saying 'shut upppp' when Lloyd and Headband went for a meal, smile woman! Why is Lloyd putting up with that miserable attitude?

Gobbolinothewitchscat Thu 08-Aug-13 10:33:26

Just catching up on last night's episode.

Please write Mandy out immediately - why was she acting like a complete knob in the Bistro? She also looks like Lloyd's mother - complete lack of any type if chemistry

The only other couple who look more unbelievable is Eileen and smelly trouser fireman. Eileen looks like the Honeymonster attacking him

Gobbolinothewitchscat Thu 08-Aug-13 10:34:38

Cross posts Desperate grin

ImNotBloody14 Thu 08-Aug-13 11:22:49

Jessica I totally agree with you there. he is a fantastic actor and much better than those you listed (especially that Izzy one! hmm)

agree with others- the reactions from gail etc didn't seem true to character- i'm wondering if it's deliberate to distract/detract from a twist that we wont expect? although i'm not sure what. confused

ImNotBloody14 Thu 08-Aug-13 11:24:21

and yes to getting rid of mandy!! she would make you depressed.

ChocsAwayInMyGob Thu 08-Aug-13 14:09:10

I think the best actor on the show is Roy. The nuances and subtleties he brings to the character are amazing. He always gets overlooked for awards but he's just quietly brilliant.

JessicaBeatriceFletcher Thu 08-Aug-13 14:18:28

Mandy is going any minute now, thankfully.

Chocs - quite agree. Have said so before. Generally, the older lot wipe the floor with the younger lot in the acting stakes. Because they have range and can do subtlety. I get annoyed sometimes when younger people say some of the older ones "aren't very good actors". They are. It's just that they come from an era where acting was about acting and not just about being very loud and brash and more about the work than turning up for the opening of an envelope and the whole celeb culture. People mistake loud for talent somehow.

One of the things I like about Simon Gregson as Steve is that he generally keeps out of the spotlight. Added to which, I think his character is great. Interesting and on the whole believable.

eddiemairswife Thu 08-Aug-13 14:33:51

Simon Gregson has got better and better over the years. I think Craig has possibilities. We are going to see more of him in a developing story, and I like it that he isn't the orange eye-candy like so many young actors.

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 14:40:09

I know the character of Roy is very well acted but i have to be shallow and admit he gives me the creeps so I tend not to focus too much on him.

I am getting increasingly distracted by Peter Barlow wink. Steve is essentially a comedy character which works very well; I can't remember the last time he had a serious storyline.

"Eileen look like the Honeymonster attacking [Paul]" - perfect description!

Mandy is terrifying. How long left now please?

ImperialBlether Thu 08-Aug-13 14:42:33

Have you not gone past his creepiness (mainly due to his clothing, I think) and seen his vulnerability, Clarty? I could cry for him at times.

JessicaBeatriceFletcher Thu 08-Aug-13 14:42:54

eddie - I agree. I love his facial expressions. The trouble at the moment is they have paired him off again with Michelle (a really pointless character). He needs another Suranne Jones (Karen) to give him a real dynamic again and that's when his acting chops really come out.

I left Kym Lomas out of my list of poor actors. She's better than some of them, but there's just no use for her character. Has she ever had a truly decent storyline (doesn't need to be a major one, just a decent one)?

Sexy Steve is worth way more than skanky Michelle. I think his next storyline should involve a Cornish lass who becomes a wife that actually reaches wedding anniversaries grin <posts cv to Granada>

Did anyone see You Saw Them Here First last night? There was a very young Peter Barlow on there smile

squoosh Thu 08-Aug-13 14:53:33

Hangonaminute..........................SEXY STEVE???

squoosh Thu 08-Aug-13 14:54:41

Michelle had the swapped baby storyline and the emotional reunion with her biological son......................who they've never mentioned since! hmm

Lighthousekeeping Thu 08-Aug-13 14:56:50

I wonder if Mary will make a move on Roy.

I must've missed one. Does the whole street know about Hayley?

Less competition is good squoosh smile

JessicaBeatriceFletcher Thu 08-Aug-13 15:03:19

squoosh - your post proves my point, when did she ever have a decent storyline? That was a shite storyline, nearly everyone I knew thought so, and if it hadn't have been shite, it wouldn't have been conveniently forgotten about.

squoosh Thu 08-Aug-13 15:04:33

I want to know how she went from being barmaid one day to being head sales woman in a lingerie company the next!

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 15:09:52

Yes everyone knows about Hayley.

Imperial oh I have been moved to tears in the last couple of weeks by the sadness of the Roy and Hayley plot. David Neilson is an excellent actor. It's just (and now I'm going to sound really shallow) something about the set of his facial features which I find unnerving. However I realise down to acting ability as well as having seen the actor being interviewed he is very different to Roy.

Steve and Karen - a classic pairing. Michelle and Steve getting back together just smacked of desperation for something for the characters to do. He unceremoniously dumped her for Becky - as if she'd take him back after that.

ImperialBlether Thu 08-Aug-13 15:10:56

Like when Gail went from sewing knickers to medical receptionist.

ImperialBlether Thu 08-Aug-13 15:12:58

Do you notice nobody in Corrie ever gets any training? Doesn't matter whether they're a builder, a machinist, a salesperson, a receptionist ir a a hairdresser/beautician - no training is required.

Nospringchickendipper Thu 08-Aug-13 15:19:41

That's soap land for you [squoosh]From barmaid to running a company without experience or relevant qualifications.

If only rl was like that I wouldn't be here posting on Mumsnet.

ImperialBlether Thu 08-Aug-13 15:25:40

It's a bit like, "I can do anything, any job, but what I can't do is get on a bus to go to work. No way. If it's not within spitting distance, I'm not interested."

I seem to remember that David did go on a training course at some stage for hairdressing. Kirk also trains whoever ends up in packing with him.

Impomea Thu 08-Aug-13 15:57:30

Would Genna really get sacked from the NHS forever just for her"friendship" with Sophie and never be able to practice as a physio ever
again ?

Shophie gets on my nerves she's now goung to ruin slimy Paul's career
Isn't she supposed to be a Christian?

Love Steve and his one liners ( I wouldn't tho)

squoosh Thu 08-Aug-13 16:00:01

Jenna's job situation is really irritating me, it was like when Kirsty lost her job with the police and became a knicker packer. No actual disciplinary procedures, just lost their jobs. Really?

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 16:01:05

I think it was classed as gross misconduct.

Sophie can be a pain but she's got lovely hair grin.

squoosh Thu 08-Aug-13 16:26:03

Cannot STAND bloody Saw-fee.

ImNotBloody14 Thu 08-Aug-13 17:25:48

do you know i have been watching corrie for about 20 years now and i cannot for the life of me remember michelle having a swapped baby storyline or a reunion with a biological son. so is ryan not her bio son then?

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 17:29:54

No, her bio son was called Alex. This was when Ryan was played by the lad who looked like a gonk. Ryan got all pally with his bio dad and Michelle felt pushed out, and Alex came to the Rovers for a bit and hung around like a load of wet washing, then buggered off home and was never seen or heard of again.

ImNotBloody14 Thu 08-Aug-13 17:42:27

wow!! i'm going to have to google image search and see if it triggers the memory for me. thanks clarty.

squoosh Thu 08-Aug-13 17:48:06

I was watching Celebrity Masterchef last night and I knew that one of the contestants had been in Corrie ages ago, think she was one of Ken Barlow's squeezes, but that's all I could remember.

eddiemairswife Thu 08-Aug-13 18:08:51

Not many of the youngsters go on to college and university do they? I think Toyah did, and whenever I see her on TV I think, "Toyah's doing well." She was the Head's secretary in 'The History Boys', and had a fling with Dominic Cooper.envy. And she must have graduated in law, as she's a prosecutor in 'Law and Order'.[I know I'm muddling fact and fiction and TV progs]. The only other one was Amber who got thrown out . Did she come back for Sunita's funeral? I agree about Michelle's mixed up sons - perhaps she's suffering from amnesia.

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 18:13:59

Ryan went to uni in Glasgow and came back a drug addict remember? confused

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 18:14:56

Oh and didn't Toyah have as stint as a Dr in a certain casualty department or something?

ImperialBlether Thu 08-Aug-13 18:34:01

He dropped out, Clarty, and I was dying for someone to say, "You'll still have to pay your student loan back" - I'm convinced most people think you don't have to if you drop out.

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 19:36:04

God forbid Corrie gets its facts right!

whatkungfuthat Thu 08-Aug-13 19:49:22

Arf at looked like a gonk grin

What I don't understand is Eva working in the factory when she could be working in the Rovers where she lives, it seems pointless. Mandy is really ripping my knitting now, that whole story is a total waste of time.

ClartyCarol Thu 08-Aug-13 20:04:44

grin at ripping your knitting.

Mandy is getting angrier every episode. I give it until the end of next week then she'll finally boil over and explode in a flaming rage of self -righteousness, headbands and all, and tiny TrouserSmell will attempt to rehabilitate his reputation on the Street by dousing the flames but will fail miserably and everyone will console him whilst feeling bit bad that they secretly wanted her to burn anyway.

1944girl Thu 08-Aug-13 21:20:05

Everyone instantly gets a job in Corrie.A newcomer can walk in and within 24 hours gets a house and a job.It must be a perfect place to live, if it was true it would be overcrowded. No one travels to work either, all work is in either the pub, knicker factory, launderette or cafe. Not forgetting the two shops and the hairdressers of course. You don't have to have any experience or qualifications, it's just ''You'll do''.

Just marking my spot, missed about 4 weeks of episodes, just jumping back in with this weeks episodes.

Why aren't all of MN queing up to get their children into Bessie Street School - Faye is presumably year 6 but no mention of SATs and in the last week of term she was doing homework from what seemed like a GCSE biology book ! I know it's only fiction but they never seem to get facts about school correct. I hope they have her moving on to a secondary in September - how old is Simon (when he is allowed out of his bedroom) ?

eddiemairswife Fri 09-Aug-13 11:29:01

Simon was 10 on 6th July [corriepedia]. So Year6 in September.

ImperialBlether Fri 09-Aug-13 11:47:31

Also, what are they saying about Kevin and Ken? Have they explained their absences?

eddiemairswife Fri 09-Aug-13 13:19:22

Kevin looking after sick father in Germany; Ken looking after sick grand son in Canada. Scriptwriters running out of ideas?

hate Tracey trying to move in with Steve. does he live in carlas old flat. also who would have amy? tracey couldnt palm her off on Deidre ao much.

also would have punched david back by now if I was nick. ao drippyand nice. does he think he can get nicks business for free now after gails house and Audrey s salon.

Bakingnovice Fri 09-Aug-13 17:37:34

Oh yes I'd forgotten than demented dave owned the salon too. The writing these days is hilarious. I mean, it's just ridic. Like watching Faye 'revise' from a year 9 book in the last week of year 6 when no one studies. Like seeing Norris get Emily's house overnight ( what solicitors do these people use, they're super fast). Like seeing rob and Tracey owning the bookies after one rushed 2 min conversation with Peter. Honestly, enough already.

Who's next wink

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 09-Aug-13 21:55:55

I was so glad when Mandy went off in that cab tonight. What a waste of space she was as a character. What was the point of her? Wish her daughter had gone with her, along with Sophie.

eddiemairswife Fri 09-Aug-13 23:38:26

Rob said he'd spent 8 years in prison. If he served half his time he would have been sentenced to 16 years. That's a hefty sentence.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 09-Aug-13 23:39:53

Or maybe he was bad in prison and head to serve more of his term? But yes, still a really long time.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 09-Aug-13 23:40:08

ClartyCarol Fri 09-Aug-13 23:59:01

Do you think Tina's tan is out of a bottle? I hope it is, for her sake, because if it's real then she's going to look like this by the time she hits 30.

Gobbolinothewitchscat Sat 10-Aug-13 09:01:56

Thank fuck headband's off. However, that was too tally unbelievable. It was as though they didnt give two shots about each other. Actually, on second thoughts, it was totally believable - Coronation Street's most unmatched couple. The daughter looks more likely as a girlfriend for Lloyd.

Mistyshore Sat 10-Aug-13 11:33:54

I read an interview given by the actress who plays Tina. She said that her mum is half Spanish and it's her natural colour! hmm

alemci Sat 10-Aug-13 11:37:42

yes Tina's tan looks natural.

hurrah to headband in taxi. She was so moany and dull.

David is an idiot and I can't wait for him to get found out. He is so hard done by not.

FannyMcNally Sat 10-Aug-13 11:51:41

Who was driving the cab that Mandy got into? Wouldn't Lloyd have driven her?

I was only drifting in and out of last week's episodes as v.v.boring at the moment waiting for Karl's crucifixion so I don't actually know why Mandy was going. Have she and Lloyd split up or is this a 'temporary' break that lasts a lifetime?

Also do we know what happens to Nick. Does he make a full recovery or is he being written out? Will Leanne stand by him if the truth about the baby gets out?

Nospringchickendipper Sat 10-Aug-13 12:12:21

Has anyone seen the trailer for Emmerdale and Corrie where the actors recite a poem.Tina, David and Debbie Dingle don't look as tanned on there as they when are in their soaps. Doyou think the make up depts make them look more tanned for the characters they play.

mameulah Sat 10-Aug-13 12:20:13

Sorry if this has already been discussed but where is Ken supposed to have gone?

And, was last night's episode the first reference they have made to him being 'away'?

And I agree Fanny very dull at the moment. It is totally miss-able, and usually it is the only thing I definitely like to watch!

Hahaaaa there is no freakin way Tina's tan is real. Ok she might be slightly more tanned than the avg person but shes been papped going in and out of tanning salons!!

eddiemairswife Sat 10-Aug-13 12:34:08

Nick's head injury changes his personality making him more irritable. Ken is in Canada looking after sick grandson [was mentioned a few weeks ago.]

Ah did I Kidd Mandy fecking off? What happened? Did Lloyd recover from the knock to his head that he must have had a few weeks ago and realise that she's a trout?

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 10-Aug-13 13:23:08

Simon is TEN?! [feels old]

nospringchicken maybe the hospital is in Ireland people regularly get left on trollies in A&E for days here...

No way Tina's tan is real. She looks awful.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 10-Aug-13 13:28:12

Just googled 'Tina's tan' and there was loads of links to a story about how she went on holidays to Dubai at Christmas and came back really tanned and they had to lighten her for Corrie! So maybe it is real?

Herself and Mark Wright always seem to be off in Spain and the like so she could be getting brown over there?!

squoosh Sat 10-Aug-13 13:41:38

Tina's tan is a combo of holidaying abroad but she is also clearly a sunbed fan, she has that giveaway apricot glow.

I agree that her skin is going to age massively unless she calms it down a bit.

Lighthousekeeping Sat 10-Aug-13 17:26:53

When is she due to go out of it?

whatkungfuthat Sat 10-Aug-13 18:53:50

Not till spring next year

Ellenora5 Sat 10-Aug-13 21:55:53

Does Tina go out with Mark Wright, how did I miss that bit of gossip!

squoosh Sat 10-Aug-13 22:00:25

Mark Wright is pretty tanned but I think she'd be more suited to David Dickinson.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 11-Aug-13 19:57:05

Ellenora yeah they've been going out a while now. They tweet pictures of themselves out on dates or having nights in a fair bit. He's quite tanned but not on her level!

DTisMYdoctor Mon 12-Aug-13 00:09:56

I can't find a link, but I'm sure I read an interview lately where the actress who plays Tina says her skin colour is down to her heritage (her mother is Spanish maybe - can't quite remember) so she finds it quite offensive when people go on about her skin colour.

Oh, I see this has been mentioned already!

squoosh Mon 12-Aug-13 00:28:44

I didn't realise the Spaniards were famed for their tangerine skin.

Ellenora5 Mon 12-Aug-13 00:45:59

Thanks nugget, don't know how I missed that, I must be getting old and not keeping up to speed with celeb gossip grin, ds1 was great for keeping me filled in but he lives in the states now and that's gossip on a whole other level smile

I love Tina (well Michelle really) and Mark Wright, they're such a suited couple! Just hope hes nice to her and not like all the other towie rats lads.

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 12-Aug-13 13:08:34

Me too Desperate even though I feel a bit silly liking people I don't really know anything about! He was lovely on I'm a Celeb though....

He tweeted this a while back...awww (although the tongue one is a bit much grin)

PaintedBottom Mon 12-Aug-13 13:49:55

It was only after watching Friday's episode that I realised how perfect Simon would be as Lloyd's son. He's got something of a Craig Charles look about him smile

Begginyouformercy Mon 12-Aug-13 14:27:28

If Tina's tan was natural would in the insides of her arms be the same colour as the outside? confused

Cheerio, Headbandy Mandy <waves cheerily> - that was very quick and sudden though, like they couldn't be bothered dealing with it in the script.

I thought when Eileen and the taxi chaps were chattering about leaving early she said "hairy dart" instead of "early dart". All sorts of things came in to my filthy mind. grin

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 17:13:55

On the rare occasions my DP (who is mixed heritage) sees Corrie he always comments on a Simon finding his real parents storyline.

MrsDeVere Mon 12-Aug-13 17:30:13

Simon wasn't mixed race when he was younger was he? I am always saying that to oh who humours me.

Bu I am sure he wasn't!

Mistyshore Mon 12-Aug-13 17:49:41

My DP never watches but if he's in the same room the only comment he ever makes is that Simon was swapped at birth.

Wasn't Simon's mother a white blonde?

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 17:49:58

I didn't watch it then but I did see a tiny bit of the bigamy story and I thought the wife who died (his mum) was white with blonde hair. Not 100% sure though

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 12-Aug-13 17:51:38

She was white and blonde yes. Is Simon definitely mixed race though? The actor I mean.

squoosh Mon 12-Aug-13 17:51:45

Yep she was blonde, Peter is a swarthy sailor, but Simon does look like he's of mixed heritage.

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 17:53:11

He looks very like my DS1 did when he was little, the same skintone and hair so yes, I would think so. (DS1 calls his hair a Gaddafro, not very PC but it makes me roar)

sonlypuppyfat Mon 12-Aug-13 17:54:36

We always say that about Simon such a beautiful boy and v good actor but I don't believe him as Peters son

squoosh Mon 12-Aug-13 17:55:12

Such a bratty character, glad he hasn't had as much screen time lately.

eddiemairswife Mon 12-Aug-13 17:55:31

WAs Simon's mum a florist?

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 17:56:00

Yes I think she was

squoosh Mon 12-Aug-13 17:57:31

Oh she was a bit mean if I recall, didn't Peter jilt Shelley (?) for Simon's Mum?

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 12-Aug-13 18:02:02

Well he married the two of them didn't he? The details escape me but he was engaged to Shelly, and having it away with Lucy who he then married for some reason, and then married Shelley anyway? Don't know what happened next [slopes off to Corrie Wiki]

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 12-Aug-13 18:03:30

And Tracey worked in her florists too and that had something to do with the whole thing.

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 18:05:06

How did she die?

NuggetofPurestGreen Mon 12-Aug-13 18:15:27

Think she had cancer.

Begginyouformercy Mon 12-Aug-13 18:21:51

Oh, I remember her, Simon's mum. She was once in the Rovers with a huge plaster covering her chin and no-one mentioned it or did I make that up? Mike Baldwin was there too.

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 20:00:25

Why didn't Tina just chin Tracey?

hippychick66 Mon 12-Aug-13 20:23:38

Hi, I'm new to the thread. I'm just about to turn 47 and have watched Corrie on and off for my whole life!!

I pretty much agree with all the comments you've been making. Mandy was awful. Lloyd's last girlfriend Cherry was a sexy stripper and then he went out with Mandy - quite a change!

Can I ask please - why do you call Paul the fireman smellytrousers?? grin

Maybe Mandy is going because Liz is coming back and Lloyd gets back with her?

If I remember correctly, Paul usually has an expression on his face like he has smelt something horrible. We assume it is because his trousers smell. I could be wrong though grin

hippychick66 Mon 12-Aug-13 20:51:04

Oh yeah - I'd forgotten that funny scene when Steve discovered Lloyd was seeing his Mum - "She's my mummy!" Love that double act.

whatkungfuthat Mon 12-Aug-13 20:54:14

Duncan James!

magentastardust Mon 12-Aug-13 21:21:23

Just catching up-haha Mandys exit couldn't have been faster -no one else came out to say goodbye and the taxi driver even sped off.

eddiemairswife Mon 12-Aug-13 22:11:48

Wouldn't there be a limit on how many visitors Nick could have? there were 6 of them round his bed. Have they closed the Bistro? No-one seems to be working there. Tracy is vile.

FannyMcNally Mon 12-Aug-13 22:46:29

I thought it was odd the other day in the hospital when the close family were just all sitting in the corridor and not in with Nick and didn't bat an eyelid when Tina asked if she could go in to Nick's room and speak to David. I know they needed a device to get Tina to 'overhear' David's guilt but she wasn't there to visit Nick and I wasn't sure what she needed to say to David that couldn't wait until he got home. Maybe I missed that as I'm only half tuning in at the moment.

Mandy's departure was so spur of the moment, how did she pack so quickly? No tears either and the usual Corrie, no need to give any reasonable notice to employers,

Poor old Tina is now going to feel guilty about Rita. Liked the Tracey attack but would have preferred a punch. How Deirdre can let her daughter mouth off like that!

AnneEyhtMeyer Mon 12-Aug-13 22:57:33

Good to see Gail go back to her "shades of Ivy" persona rather than the ditzy fool tonight. I loved how she made it all about her and told off Leanne.

I don't know if I was watching more carefully last night but I noticed several inconsistencies :
- where did Rita's purple coat come from and why was she suddenly wearing it when she arrived at the Red Rec? The weather still looked sunny.
- Sally was talking to Tim walking along the road dressed up going for her date. Later on she is still walking to the bus stop, now with insurance man. It must be the longest street in the world !
- Faye says she is going to the toilet in the pub, gets talking to Katy and they decide to go home - no word to Anna/Owen and no one seems to notice they have gone. No one seemed to think she had been a long time in the toilet or as she's a 'soap child' they mut be ued to having her disappear for long periods of time.
- why didn't Julie ask about Hayley's absence when she ws chatting at the factory or even mention her (as presumaly she knew).
- my 12 yo DD picked up on David telling the boys to 'get your coats' when it was a summer's day unless it's just an expression for get ready to go out.

I must get a life and find something ele to do rather than over analyse a fictional drama. In my defence we had been on a long walk and I hadn't the energy for much else.

whatkungfuthat Tue 13-Aug-13 09:15:03

I thought the same about Faye just going home. Did anyone else think that Sally's make-up looked a bit odd? It made her look piggy eyed with no eyebrows, she looks better normally.

'Tracey' is an appalling actress, not at all believable.

Clawdy Tue 13-Aug-13 09:48:11

Those "threatening" teenagers in the park looked about as menacing as Simon and Max.

FannyMcNally Tue 13-Aug-13 09:49:38

I thought exactly the same about Sally walking about all togged up!

SPBisResisting Tue 13-Aug-13 09:50:11

I hope you don't mind me barging in, but I watched Coronaton Street years ago and happened to catch 5 mins this morning after not watching for well over a decade.

Why were Gail and Leanne looking all weepy eyed? I could tell it was something to do with David, but what is Leanne's relationship to him - as far as I'm concerned she's his ex SIL!!

FannyMcNally Tue 13-Aug-13 09:53:10

Briefly, Leanne is married to Nick and David caused an accident which has left Nick in a coma. David has been gunning for Nick since finding out that his wife is pregnant by Nick. Leanne is completely unaware and David's wife, Kylie, doesn't know David knows that the baby isn't his. Think that's it!

SPBisResisting Tue 13-Aug-13 10:02:01

Ah thank you! Drama indeed. I thought Leanne and Nick split up ages ago, must have missed them getting back together.
I am dying to start watching this again but I rarely get to control the remote control grin

whatkungfuthat Tue 13-Aug-13 10:10:13

I don't think we know who that father is though, it could be either of them

DTisMYdoctor Tue 13-Aug-13 12:29:24

I thought the same about Faye leaving the pub. Sally's look was strange - I did wonder if she's gone down the botox route though, I thought her forehead was very still when she was talking to Tim. However, when she was talking to Tim she was going to Dev's to get new tights, hence being out later with the boring insurance man.

I only just realised that Julie had reappeared! Short maternity leave - how long has she been out for?

ImNotBloody14 Tue 13-Aug-13 12:51:47

where had Julie gone to in the show? holiday? is brian still in it? tbh I forgot she'd been away. there's another one they could do without grin

Mistyshore Tue 13-Aug-13 13:03:51

Julie went to look after her mum who broke her hip(?) in a fall.

The actress has been off on maternity leave.

ImNotBloody14 Tue 13-Aug-13 13:55:46

ah yes! I remember now.

btw- is Hayley actress pregnant too?

Begginyouformercy Tue 13-Aug-13 14:15:58

I like Julie - I think she's great for Corrie as a character.

What a horrible ending - I'm going to be worrying about Rita until the next time it's on sad.

What was it Kirk said about the woman and the rollercoaster? "That's a bit advanced"? grin grin

I liked Tommeh's t-shirt.

squoosh Tue 13-Aug-13 14:18:41

I'm worried about Rita too! Is she going to be jostled until tomorrow evening? She'll be exhausted.

Begginyouformercy Tue 13-Aug-13 14:21:05

I was filling up blush

Lighthousekeeping Tue 13-Aug-13 14:21:47

I don't think she's prsgnant

squoosh Tue 13-Aug-13 14:22:08

Rita isn't pregnant?

squoosh Tue 13-Aug-13 14:22:41

Her purple coat was very loose fitting so I suppose she could be hiding a baby bump.

Begginyouformercy Tue 13-Aug-13 14:24:47

That makes it even worse sad angry <wails>

ImNotBloody14 Tue 13-Aug-13 14:35:20

poor rita and her baby- I hope they're both ok.

I missed tommeh's t-shirt- I suppose i'll have to wait til tomorrow to see it again?

Lighthousekeeping Tue 13-Aug-13 14:42:33

Where is Tyrone these days?

squoosh Tue 13-Aug-13 14:44:50

Hopefully a car has fallen on his head.

Nospringchickendipper Tue 13-Aug-13 14:54:20

The scenes in the park with the teenagers were so unbelievable don't know if it was bad acting or just bad script writing .

I'm being to warm to Criag and Beth didn't really like them when they first joined.

squoosh Tue 13-Aug-13 14:55:56

I wish the Craig thing would come to a head, I'm getting irritated now. I did love the chat he had with Kirk about inspirational gay role models though grin

scarlet5tyger Tue 13-Aug-13 15:52:00

Beth reminds me more and more of Our Denise from The Royle Family. Couldn't stand her at first but am slowly warming to her, and Craig.

Beth reminds me of Cilla but nowhere near as nasty

DTisMYdoctor Tue 13-Aug-13 18:03:19

Am confused about Rita/pregnancy chat - surely her years are a bit advanced for pregnancy?!?

hippychick66 Tue 13-Aug-13 18:05:37

I did feel sorry for Tina - being left in charge of the pub whilst there is a party going on for the baby that she gave birth to, fell in love with and then had to give away!! I would also have liked to see her thump Our Tracy.

Agree that the teenagers who are jostling Rita are not very menacing at all - she's bigger than the three of them put together.

I was glad to see gail finally pointing out to Leanne that Nick is her son and so she might be a bit worried too. So far Leanne has been a bit like.... Oh he's my husband - I'm the most important person here!

As a writer I do see that sometimes you have to engineer situations so people can have a conversation in private but as someone else pointed out - David being overheard by Tina in Nick's room was a bit stupid. Tina must be very lightfooted because NO ONE ever hears her coming and shuts up - the other day rita and tommy were talking about her and she got right up behind them before they knew she was there.

I did also think it was very odd that annoying Faye didn't bother to tell anyone she was leaving the pub - a simple word to check with her mum would have been more believable.

Tim looked quite sexy compared to the boring insurance sales man.

hippychick66 Tue 13-Aug-13 18:06:49

The Rita/pregnancy thing is just a case of crossed posts leading to a little joke. even Corrie wouldn't do that storyline grin

ImNotBloody14 Tue 13-Aug-13 18:07:32

ah we were just having a wee joke about rita being pregnant. I asked if the Hayley actress was pregnant upthread, then a few other people posted other comments about rita and then someone replied "she's not pregnant" (or something like that) but didn't clarify that they were responding to me so it looked like they were referring to rita as she had just been mentioned. so someone else, said something about rita being pregnant and we went with it- it's possible you know- it being soapland and having no limits and all grin

FannyMcNally Tue 13-Aug-13 18:23:41

Just seen a trailer with Craig and Karl! I thought Craig had seen Karl start the fire, but this trailer seems to suggest the opposite!

The actress who plays Rita seems to get very large around the middle and then goes off for a break, returning looking much slimmer. I wonder if she has some medical condition?
Sally's hair horrible last night for her date - she looked much nicer before she got dolled up.

EeTraceyluv Tue 13-Aug-13 18:28:46

Lucy was her name. Peter met her in her florist shop when he was buying flowers for Shelley and got all carried away and ended up marrying them both with Tracey as bridesmaid at both weddings. The they all found out and it got all a bit lairy - then Lucy went off with baby Simon to Australia, and conveniently died. So Peter came back with Simon and couldn't cope for a bit but it's all ok now grin

EeTraceyluv Tue 13-Aug-13 18:29:31

sorry was a few pages back when I posted that! grin

Mistyshore Tue 13-Aug-13 19:16:46

Poor Rita couldn't have children but did foster Jenny Bradley (daughter of Alan "should have seen that tram coming" Bradley). She took Sally and Kevin under her wing for a while too.

If Tina Malone from Brookside can have IVF at 51 in real life, I don't think Rita doing the same in her 70's would be beyond the Corrie script writers wink

squoosh Tue 13-Aug-13 19:42:28

I'm sure if Rita took a course of multi vitamins and employed some more exotic sexual positions she and Dennis could be parents yet.

whatkungfuthat Tue 13-Aug-13 20:31:53

Thanks squoosh, I now have that mental image and I fear it's not going away anytime soon

Begginyouformercy Tue 13-Aug-13 21:47:35

Did Craig not see Karl throwing up (ew, ew, ew) at some point - maybe after he nearly killed Dev?

squoosh grin

DTisMYdoctor Tue 13-Aug-13 22:51:29

Ah, thanks for clarification re: Rita. I thought you'd all gone a bit bonkers!!! grin

hippychick66 Wed 14-Aug-13 08:14:57

The thing that gets me about Craig is the way he just storms off everytime someone tries to talk to him. I don't let my 13 year old son get away with that. Yes, I think he did see Karl acting odd in the alleyway after Karl nearly killed Dev. Where is Dev these days?

Begginyouformercy Wed 14-Aug-13 09:31:30

On a How to Cry Better course grin

FannyMcNally Wed 14-Aug-13 19:42:55

whatkungfuthat Wed 14-Aug-13 20:50:45

Will no one think of Poor Rita and the baby? (I am almost glad the footie is on so I could post that)

squoosh Wed 14-Aug-13 21:30:57

I'm distraught at the idea of Rita spending nearly a week being bullied in the park. In her delicate condition too, she won't have her folic acid with her either.

FannyMcNally Wed 14-Aug-13 23:10:07

Maybe Tina could ,adopt Rita's baby? Or maybe she runs off with it and that's how she's written out?

Also Tina walked off from the park with her phone on the bench.

Agree Sally didnt look great all done up. Tim said she looked '10 years younger' but Id say 10 years older!

Tracey makes me feel sick Id wish she'd leave.

ImNotBloody14 Thu 15-Aug-13 20:43:40

ooh no!! I don't like tommeh's t-shirt at all!

poor rita sad she reminds me of my nana.

Ladytron Thu 15-Aug-13 21:20:17

Did anyone think David was going to pull Nick's tubes out?

HeavenlyYoni Thu 15-Aug-13 21:49:18

I can't stand Tommeh's t-shirt either. Doesn't he ever take it off.

Re Cilla - do you remember that bulldog-ish face she used to pull grin

Sal looked older and frumpy. How brazen was that, taking that bloke up to bed! Dirty mare <obv gagging for it>

DTisMYdoctor Thu 15-Aug-13 22:12:52

I was studying Sally's forehead quite closely tonight. It did not move.

HeavenlyYoni Thu 15-Aug-13 23:20:30

Sally looked better when she had her hair really short after her cancer, maybe it's a wig for the show!

Nospringchickendipper Fri 16-Aug-13 02:19:32

I've just read that the actor who plays Tommy has been suspended because of a video he made. Script writers will be busy again.

A video? He'll be off to Blackpool to tend to a sick grandparent then. Poor Tyrone will be chained to that garage.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 16-Aug-13 07:29:48

Bloody hell, soon there will be no men in Corrie.

And Jenna has just broken her ankle or something which has caused filming chaos according to the papers.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 16-Aug-13 08:33:24

Jenna wouldn't exactly be a loss if she disappeared.

I agree Anne.

FannyMcNally Fri 16-Aug-13 09:19:14

Agree, no loss. She can be visiting Mandy for a few months.

FannyMcNally Fri 16-Aug-13 09:20:22

Is Norris good at humming? grin

I'd forgotten about Jason. I've only been watching intermittently over the last few weeks.

Sorry but Jason isn't good looking so he can bog off too. Todd is coming back but he's not to my taste either <sigh>

He might be to Marcus or Sean's taste though!

FannyMcNally Fri 16-Aug-13 13:31:57

FannyMcNally Fri 16-Aug-13 13:33:01

Yes, but he's got a lovely broad tanned chest RubberBullets that I could imagine oiling

Oh, Dennis, I'd allow him to stay as well.

Peter is smouldering but Corrie could do with a few sexy men .I quite liked the one Traceyluv murdered.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 16-Aug-13 20:46:38

I used to really like Tina but she bores my tits off now. Most of them get on my nerves tbh. I wished they'd get rid of most of them and bring back all the oldies like Raquel, Spider Cilla. I've never fast forwarded it so much in my life.

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 16-Aug-13 20:47:57

I can't wait until Tina goes.

PaintedBottom Sat 17-Aug-13 01:43:11

Don't forget about Lloyd sad I love him I do grin

I'm not sure about Lloyd, he's lost his way a bit as a character, the double act with Steve is weak now, same with Eileen, they keep pairing him up unsuccessfully with one unsuitable woman after another, but never really give him a proper storyline, although I like him I don't think he adds much to the show.

ajandjjmum Sat 17-Aug-13 08:13:35

Isn't the writing a mix of good and bad at the moment? Sally was acting so out of character with Tim in the street. But then the moment in the morning when they were with Soph and Jenna, all saying 'so', made me laugh.

Rita seems to have really aged quickly too. And where's Hayley at the moment? Everyone seems to have forgotten about her.

FannyMcNally Sat 17-Aug-13 08:14:33

I really liked Craig Charles until that rape accusation about a decade ago, I think he'd just started in Corrie then. It's awful if he was innocent because it's obviously stuck in my mind and totally unfair on him.

I agree about Steve and women, he needs a new Becky. Michelle is so boring. I hope that Liz and Lloyd get back together - would give Steve something to do. I think Becky should come back to help Roy and Hayley the she and Steve should fall back in love again.

Begginyouformercy Sat 17-Aug-13 09:45:49

Rita seems to have really aged quickly too.

Was that because she didn't have her make-up on? wink

And where's Hayley at the moment?

Did she not go off on holiday in whatsername's camper van?

I quite liked the one Traceyluv murdered.

I caught sight of him in Robin Hood on BBC3 the other night - think it was a Friday wink

Poor wee Craig - he's so sweet. That Karl needs stringing up angry.

Bakingnovice Sat 17-Aug-13 13:45:24

Lighthouse I'm the same with the fast forward. I can sometimes watch an episode in 6 mins.

Clawdy Sat 17-Aug-13 15:00:35

So funny, they tried to make Rita look frail and ill by leaving off her usual red lipstick but she was in full eye makeup and foundation!

ImNotBloody14 Sat 17-Aug-13 15:50:12

sally makes me cringe when she's with a man! she's just a big cringe!! play it cool for a change Sal!

and why has she suddenly got a problem with Anna? is it just cause she shagged tim and she has to be on his side or do they have history?

and yes Steve needs a better partner than michelle. they're so dull together. he just seems perpetually bored!- I loved becky and Karen- they both got brought out his best acting wise.

KenDoddsDadsDog Sat 17-Aug-13 16:07:13

The Sally / Anna street exchange was awful. As was the Karl / Craig scene

Cheeky bloody Michelle saying that waking up with Sexy Steve is a bad thing angry

whatkungfuthat Sat 17-Aug-13 19:00:40

I did quite enjoy Sally taking the piss out of Tiny Owen the Bearded Terror though, he is such a rubbish 'heavy'

ImNotBloody14 Sat 17-Aug-13 19:02:54

agree with you there what he's not scary at all.

I cant stand sally in general though- she is very petty and catty and gossipy.

ImNotBloody14 Sat 17-Aug-13 19:03:37

I think it started when she got that idea into her head about rosie going to the private school and she got all uppity.

whatkungfuthat Sat 17-Aug-13 19:05:39

I know, considering how up herself she is she does like brawling in the street. Remember her and Natalie Horrocks slugging it out?

ImNotBloody14 Sat 17-Aug-13 19:08:50

ooohh yes!!! I do remember that. is it also sally who has the slanging matches from across the street with Eileen or is that gail?

I'd like to see Steve back in the Rovers, he's too out of it stuck in the cab office. He's got what it takes to be the new Jack Duckegg, he needs a firecracker Vera with him though.

Will I tell you about when I met Vera Duckworth?

ImNotBloody14 Sat 17-Aug-13 19:46:09

oh yes please badgers

and I agree about steve being back in the rovers- do you think he might when stella and carl go?

Mistyshore Sat 17-Aug-13 19:48:35

Ooh do tell Badgers

I've pulled a pint for Les Battersby!

I hope so Bloody14

Misty I was in a big Tesco in Manchester at the pharmacy bit. I was waiting for an assistant when I heard a woman next to me saying how she needed cough medicine because she got a terrible cough from all the talking at work. And that voice was so unique I just turned and there was V! Then an assistant came over and asked me what I needed and I blushed to the roots of my hair because I had the raging thrush but I could not ask for Canesten in front of Vera Duckworth grin

Now tell me what Les was like. Did he not get the sack from Corrie for some shenanigans?

eddiemairswife Sat 17-Aug-13 20:12:56

Steve is going to buy back the rovers and Liz is coming back from Spain[again!] to be landlady. That must mean that Karl, Stella etc. must be leaving.

whatkungfuthat Sat 17-Aug-13 20:20:17

Isn't Les bankrupt and got done for drink driving, or was that in Corrie? <easily confused>

Steve going back in the Rovers means boring shiny-haired Michelle will be going back too. What will happen to poor Eva and doesn't Glo own the Rovers really, not St Ella now?

ajandjjmum Sat 17-Aug-13 20:22:33

I'd totally forgotten Hayley was on holiday! Hope they're having a lovely time. grin

Leaving Rita's make-up off was pretty basic, but generally, I think she's aged lately.

Really eddie?

StephenFrySaidSo Sat 17-Aug-13 20:23:30

ooh really eddie? is this true? that would be good (both liz coming back and stella and carl leaving)

grin @ at not asking for canesten in front of vera!!

eddiemairswife Sat 17-Aug-13 20:30:21

read it somewhere about Steve.Just looked up Bruce Jones[Les B.] It's very sad; he's had alcohol problems, lost his home and is working as a garage mechanic.

Mistyshore Sat 17-Aug-13 20:32:59

It was back in about 1996/97 I think. He was doing an appearance at the nightclub I worked at. He was drunk already when he arrived and had some very rough looking mates in his party. Not bad work though if you can get it, a few hundred quid for letting pissed teenage girls sit on a middle aged mans knee for a photo hmm

The actor has had all sorts of problems with alcohol over the years. I last saw him in the papers for trying to make his wife crash their car by grabbing the steering wheel as she was driving in North Wales (where he lived in a caravan at one point but not sure about now).

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 17-Aug-13 22:00:48

I hate Anna and Owen!!! Who the f**k do they think they are telling Tim to move away and then letting Faye think he doesn't care about her. Grrrr.

Glad he's staying now just to annoy them.

lovelychops Sat 17-Aug-13 22:23:06

I too hate Anna, she's a brassy mare!

NuggetofPurestGreen Sat 17-Aug-13 22:25:44

Didn't mind her before when she got nice after the husband went to Germany. Hate her now. Hate all that clan wish they would all move to Newcastle now to get away from Tim.

whatkungfuthat Sun 18-Aug-13 13:35:20

I didn't watch it when the Windyarses were horrible, what did they do exactly?

StephenFrySaidSo Sun 18-Aug-13 13:39:33

I didn't think they were horrible- he was seemed to be a complete workshy lazy arse who didn't wash and gary was in the army for a bit. anna just smiled a lot and ran about after her useless husband.

one thing I never understood was why they suddenly wanted to adopt? confused was it just so that steve and becky had a bit of comptettion?

Impomea Sun 18-Aug-13 13:47:34

Mr Wyndass was useless but could bake amazing cakes !!

ajandjjmum Sun 18-Aug-13 13:54:42

Didn't they harass Tina's Dad, who ended up taking his own life?

StephenFrySaidSo Sun 18-Aug-13 13:54:57

oh yes I remember that!

StephenFrySaidSo Sun 18-Aug-13 13:56:10

oh I remember the cakes I mean.

what did they do to him? I thought he took his own life because he owed so much money to a loanshark and had stolen/taken/borrowed money from gail without her realising?

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 13:57:15

They were a bit lairy when they first came into it, wouldn't pay for the kitchen Joe put in their house, so David and Tina and Graeme set fire to the kitchen and then Gary came round the Platts and did the same. Gary was a bit of a thug as well wasn't he, in prison for something but he got nice after he left the army and had the PTSD and started going out with Izzy. Soap nice I mean obviously he's awful really.

Can't remember why they wanted to adopt either. But then Eddie changed his mind and went off to Germany instead.

Impomea Sun 18-Aug-13 14:04:14

Corrie was so much better then I miss Graeme.

Hate Gary .

whatkungfuthat Sun 18-Aug-13 14:17:43

Thanks, I started watching it again before the tram crash, just before Eddie went to Germany and when Ryan went off to uni (before he morphed into Mini-Barrowman)

whatkungfuthat Sun 18-Aug-13 14:18:31

I liked Graeme too but that pretendy then real marriage was rubbish.

Graeme was great, wish that cowbag Xin had never come into it.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 14:27:16

Yeah I hated that storyline about Xin and Graeme, it was awful, poor Tina. And she was so nice about it when she found out. Think she's better off with Tommy though he's more suited to her (if they ever got to actually spend time together rather than him just having a lager in the Rovers when she's working).

whatkungfuthat Sun 18-Aug-13 14:30:12

Why do the actors that have really good characters leave then end up doing bugger all? Note: I am not talking about Helen Flanagan here, she was dreadful

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 14:32:53

Yeah where's Graeme gone? I always wonder do they just think they're really good and are bound to make it big in Hollywood and have ideas above their station. Not that some of them aren't good actors but it's hard to get rid of the soap opera actor tarnish (wrongly imo

According to his website, he's touring the country with The Full Monty

StephenFrySaidSo Sun 18-Aug-13 14:44:03

oh Graeme was brilliant! bring him back please corrie!

there is a man who works in my local asda that looks very like Graeme. reminds me of him everytime I see him. grin

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 14:47:57

Oh okay RubberBullets that doesn't sound too bad. Wish a few more of them would leave for pastures new, ie all the Windasses/Armstrongs, Karl, the Platts, TraceyLuv etc etc etc and not Hayley/Sylvia/Gloria!

Lighthousekeeping Sun 18-Aug-13 21:22:47

Becky has done well though and Raquel used to be in everything. I can't really think of anyone else off the top of my head. Oh, that other one that was with Steve. Karen. Gets great roles.

hippychick66 Sun 18-Aug-13 21:35:17

Why didn't karl just say to the kid. the fire couldn't have been started by a ciggy it was started in the cellar the police have evidence, you don't need to be worried. telling him that he did start it is obviously gonna explode later into a big confession - Karl is a complete idiot.

I am amazed at how many of you seem to fancy Steve - i mean he's a very funny bloke but I see him more as a brother than a lover - i feel like I've grown up with him.

I saw The Full monty and it did indeed have graeme in it - he was very funny. grin

Raquel was great in Last Tango in Halifax last year. Joanne Froggatt from a few years ago (Zoe?) is in Downton Abbey. So is Liam (can't remember the actor's name).

mameulah Sun 18-Aug-13 21:38:44

The year that Graeme left I watched him on a This Morning interview. He said that when he was given the part he wrote himself a note about not getting comfy and staying for years. That is why he decided to leave. He did sound all 'I am destined for Hollywood' about it at all.

there is a man who works in my local asda that looks very like Graeme

There's a guy works down the chip shop, swears he's Elvis

Sorry, have had wine blush

hippychick you're so right, Peter Barlow is proper lovely but Steve does look like that bloke out of The Office when he's in Pirates of the Caribbean and has a wooden eye. I love Steve but I would never, ever go there.

Lighthousekeeping Sun 18-Aug-13 21:46:21

Appart from Peter who would you shag though? If push came to shove? It would have to be Steve.

StephenFrySaidSo Sun 18-Aug-13 21:49:57

"There's a guy works down the chip shop, swears he's Elvis"

"Appart from Peter who would you shag though? If push came to shove? It would have to be Steve."

well before recent revelations I would have warmed tommy's bed for him but not now!

Jason- i'd shag Jason. or his RL brother (adam in emmerdale)

Adam and Jason sandwich grin

Was going to say Peter Barlow mayonnaise but that would be dirty.

StephenFrySaidSo Sun 18-Aug-13 22:13:09

filthy badger!

whatkungfuthat Sun 18-Aug-13 22:21:24

What! Lloyd? You'll be Mandy headband's sloppy seconds envy

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 22:32:03

Yeah there's not too many options really is there? Jason I
suppose. I actually used to fancy Gary before he got all weird with the baby storyline I'M SORRY OKAY.

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 22:36:12

Yeah I remember that interview with Graeme actually and he wasn't all bigheaded. There are a few actors who've done really well from soaps but just can't think of any other than those mentioned upthread. Tamsin Outhwaite from Enders was in a few things but haven't seem her in ages. And thingy from Emmerdale that Debbie was lesbians with is or was in Doctor Who wasn't she. And Michelle Ryan did okay for a while.

Okay loads of actors from soaps do okay it seems grin

NuggetofPurestGreen Sun 18-Aug-13 22:38:35

hippy I thought it was because he didn't want Craig telling anyone he saw Karl coming out of the pub so he's trying up scare him into not saying anything about it at all? But yes he is an idiot.

Whenever I see old corrie actor/esses I only oicture them with their corrie name. Like Karen Steves ex shes been in Scott and Bailey but she will always be Karen to me (barren Karen remember that??)

Impomea Mon 19-Aug-13 08:53:15

Think Corrie could do with an injection of new (hot) male actors.

Eva needs a sexy man, especially as she has gone all kind now ,and what about someone for Deardrie ( and me ) to lust after? May I suggest Sean Bean ?

DTisMYdoctor Mon 19-Aug-13 09:59:32

Ewwwww, just caught up on Friday's episodes. All that snogging between Sally and Faye's dad made me feel quite ill! One cheeky one night stand and they're all over each other in the street in the middle of the day?

YY to needing an injection of new characters. So many of them are so tired an insignificant these days. Where are Tyrone and Fizz these days? Not that I've missed them. I quite liked them both years back, but Fizz in particular is dreadful these days.

whatkungfuthat Mon 19-Aug-13 10:09:19

My cheeks are aflame typing this but I saw a bit of 'Strippers vs Werewolves' (its a spoof, honest) from the horror channel. It had Rob in it as a terribly-acted punk werewolf. I am going to make DP watch Cockneys vs Zombies as punishment.
