Blondeshavemorefun Wed 24-Jul-13 13:31:15

Thought i would start a thread for last episode and all our musings grin

will we find out the secret of the town/dam/les revs - or will we need to wait till 2nd series ..............

'blondes waits in anticipation'

eightytwenty Wed 24-Jul-13 14:18:12

And we still need mnhq Olivia (who is just as obsessed) to move this thread somewhere safe for re- reading in the future!

Milchardo Wed 24-Jul-13 14:22:49

DP and DM are the only two people I know in 'real life' who are watching this... Theories abound!

Aethelfleda Wed 24-Jul-13 14:26:16

<marking la place>

hold on, why does Mme Costa remember how she died? None of the other revs do apart from Victor... She is so a bad un...Still holding out for Victor and Mme costa to have been killed in the original event. Ooh, maybe they died in a unnatural school related disaster and were buried in the original village, then they were the first returnees, when the dam burst, everyone else in the village got killed and became the mindless horde, then the new village mirrored the old one and the newer generation came in, each unnatural death became a new gen of returnees....and maybe next episode the dam will burst again and the they will build a new dam and village...until Victor comes back again and it all restarts..... <clutches at les straws>

phantomhairpuller Wed 24-Jul-13 14:38:39

Well done blondes grin

<marks place>

Yonihadtoask Wed 24-Jul-13 14:50:34

Ta blondes for new thread.

Am excited for Sunday! I do so hope that something will be made clear at least.

Mrs Costa and Victor are wearing old fashioned style of clothing/hair. So maybe they are the strongest revs, if they have been deaded and undeaded a few times??

EatYourCrusts Wed 24-Jul-13 15:43:16

Can't wait for the last episode!
But will be sad when it is over. sad

angelos02 Wed 24-Jul-13 16:26:05

Me too crusts. It makes miserable Sunday evenings much better smile

qazxc Wed 24-Jul-13 17:38:12

I am scared that we are going to be left dangling with loads of answered questions. Surely they can't wrap everything up in one episode?

RappyNash Wed 24-Jul-13 18:33:07

Marking my place - can't wait!

susiedaisy Wed 24-Jul-13 18:36:53

Marking my place smile

Place marking!

Aethelfleda Wed 24-Jul-13 19:43:47

qazxc, I think it's pretty much consensus that it won't be wrapped up at all, in the way that Game of Thrones wasn't wrapped up after one series. It's just a question of how many million ends there are, and whether enough resolution is there to satisfy us all so that we hold on for series 2......

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 24-Jul-13 21:45:00

Welcome yoni

And I doubt it will be resolved

And prob be like broadchurch and that other 5 parter where may girl was muntered. Silly ending that was angry hmm

LauraPashley Wed 24-Jul-13 22:28:41

I would hope at least that by the end of Sunday we should know at least the basic premise of the show?! Who is dead/not/why etc?!! (PleeeeeeeSe let it be so!). I do like the fact that it is very French and subtle and people are just raising eyebrows and shrugging shoulders all over the place, the Americans would be all weapons/slashing/blood/machine guns by now. But just a few leetle hints would be nice!

Marking place, I am going away until next Friday at least, camping so no chance of watching on Sunday, aargh! I will have to wait, as the episodes were blocked on YouTube. I hope it isn't a rubbish non ending, but I am sure there will be more questions than answers!

RobotBananas Wed 24-Jul-13 23:25:14

swooosh Thu 25-Jul-13 03:32:44

It's 3:30am on a night shift in a hospital and IM ALONE...and reading this. Eeeeeekkk!

But I'm leaving now, I'm away for the weekend and absolutely gutted to be missing the finale! Ill watch the minute I arrive back home Monday and then pop back. I hope we get a few answers at least!

It had BETTER not be a "broadchurch" ending
i am not sure I will cope.

alabasterangel Thu 25-Jul-13 09:14:20

Hello... can I join in? Obsessed by this at the moment. Slightly releived that 'top of the lake' is there to take over my weekly dose of 'whats going on?' tele once this finished!

So..... where has everyone else in the town gone then? All of a sudden it seems very empty. I know the engineers left, but what about everyone else? In the first episodes there were people in the pub, the school, walking about.... now there is no-one. And in a town so full of police (seemingly loads!) then where are they when two people hang themselves? Surely they would be crawling all over the scene?

The not being able to leave thing strikes chords with a Stephen King book (The Dome) where an invisible dome covers a town and no one can enter or leave.... good book! Although in that they could 'bump' into the edges but here, it seems they do 'slip' somehow.... as said before.... maybe a time-slip and that timeslip is the portal between life and death?

My head hurts too!

Aethelfleda Thu 25-Jul-13 10:19:29

It may be they just "don't want" to leave on a subconcious level: there's a v weird Spanish film from the 1960s called "exterminating angel" about a group of toffee-bosed dinner party guests who all get stuck at the party and just don't get around to leaving, then find they can't get out (and no-one can get in either) and all their class constructs come crashing down as time passes... It's got some parallels (although admittedly there aren't as many dead dudes. There is however a chicken in a handbag...)

guineapiglet Thu 25-Jul-13 11:18:20

Cant wait either it has been really absorbing and mind bending...
There is definitely something in the water....and am convinced the whole village is dead and stuck in time, before the original flood.... We were taliking about it being a kind of Noah's Ark type thing with the original floodees being offered a kind of salvation from les revs but some whisky hhad been consumed hete when that theory was suggested.....

Do hope we get closure before series 2,' the return of the returned' eek...

Either esy up it has been brilliant drama more like this please, but go easy on the zombies..

guineapiglet Thu 25-Jul-13 11:19:22

Sorry for typos
darn phone

IdaBlankenship Thu 25-Jul-13 19:09:52

I'm loving all this speculation.
aethelfleda that rings a bell, I've definitely heard of it. Perhaps if the Revs had a chicken or 2 in their bags , then they wouldn't be taking bites out of passing critters (or their own stomachs - ewww Simon).
I think the series won't end with a bang, more of a Gallic shrug leaving loads of questions unanswered - there's just too many things for them to resolve in an hour.
Can't wait to see Pierre get his comeuppance - there has to be a grisly future for him - mais non?

susiedaisy Thu 25-Jul-13 19:29:02

"More of a Gallic shrug" gringrin

rosy71 Thu 25-Jul-13 20:42:02

Isn't it just that we're not seeing everyone else in the town because the story is focused on the revs, not that everyone else has vanished. Most of the revs seem to be at the hostel with Pierre.

What is the time frame since they returned? Is it just a few days?

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 25-Jul-13 20:50:18

I still want to see what happened to Simon - everyone one else has had their death shown

The pub/diner is always empty now - so where did everyone go

And regards to may killer programme - murdered not muntered lol

Disclaimer: I'm rubbish with names btw.

But I think Simon was killed by thingio - Adele's policeman partner. Think he'd been obsessed with her for a long time (he's very creepy with all the CCTV etc.) and so he murdered Simon & took advantage of the vulnerable and suicidal Adele.

I found it all very spooky with no-one being able to leave the village last week. I think the brother (the nasty killer one) was 're-claimed' by the lake as they tried to swim across.

Sorry if this was all discussed on the previous thread. Was it? blush

IdaBlankenship Thu 25-Jul-13 21:03:20

If Simon had committed suicide, they would have showed it by now. It has got to be a murder. I'm not sure Thomas is involved in his original death though - that would be a bit too neat.
Blondes - thanks for the correction, I never saw the May thing and I was a bit confused about the muntered reference!

ILovePonyo Thu 25-Jul-13 21:10:38

Hello! Nothing to add theory wise bit just marking my place.
Can't believe it's the last one this Sunday confused

ILovePonyo Thu 25-Jul-13 21:10:56

*but hmm

rosy71 Thu 25-Jul-13 21:11:31

There's no one in the pub or diner because the electricity has failed. In a previous episode the police were visiting everyone's houses, checking they were ok. Pierre invited Camille and family and others to the helping hand because they had a generator there. I don't know where everyone else is. Presumably they're at home or they left, or perhaps they don't exist.

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 25-Jul-13 21:16:40

I've always said I think Thomas killed Simon

Good point about no electricity and why all at helping hands as have generator

Tho surprised if no power that everyone doesn't kick up more fuss - ie moan about no power and what to do

Can't wait for Sunday smile

ShowMeTheCoffee Sat 27-Jul-13 22:30:53

Hello all.

Have been deliberately avoiding this thread until finally caught up on 4O'D.

Does Mme Coasta(s?) really remember how she died? She has given different explanations to different people.

As to people leaving, do you think it's only les revs who can't leave? Like the brother being swallowed up by the lake and the doctor and policeman not being able to drive out of the town because they were trying to take Victor with them.

DH and I are totally hooked to this show. It's brilliant.

Anyone know how long we'll have to wait until series 2?

ShowMeTheCoffee Sat 27-Jul-13 22:39:35

Doctor and policewoman I should have said.

anyway, enjoy it tomorrow night!

Aethelfleda Sun 28-Jul-13 08:38:47

Ooh, I can hardly wait!

Shall we have a sweepstake for the oldest rev and the most arch-baddie plot reveal? I vote for Victor being the oldest rev and Mr Costa being up to his neck in the original doodah.....

rosy71 Sun 28-Jul-13 11:19:47

Can't wait either!

hangsbyathread Sun 28-Jul-13 11:57:17

Hi all i have been lurking since thread one.

I think Mme Costa has died in at least one of the ways she told people she had died.

Her husband set fire to her as she was tied up in the house - when Simon was shot he 'died' again for a short while. So when she said she died in a fire that could have been what she meant.

I suspect she is telling the truth about starving to death in the last flood. That rang true.

So excited for "Le horde" tonight!

I'm expecting SOME answers, but more questions, and I'm fine with that. I have a masochistic love for TV that ends with cliffhangers and unresolved questions. I suspect that series one of Les revenants is sort of a set-up for what will come after.

Alconleigh Sun 28-Jul-13 12:53:10

I hope Serge isn't back in the lake for good...it took me until the episode where he had sex with Lena to notice how hot he is, and now I can't notice anything else.
I've not added anything there have I? blush I blame this hot weather...

Ooh I am excited about this.

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 13:24:24

Serge's character- yuck!!
Serge's body - yummy!!

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 13:33:44

Marking place . Very excited!

marciaoverstrand Sun 28-Jul-13 16:09:29

Just read on daily fail online (sorry) that its going to be remade by UK and US tv. How rubbish would that be.
Me, dd, dm and dh all have watched, in different parts of the country, and compared theories!
Roll on 9pmgrin

I am counting down the hours. Best bit of telly in ages. Thankfully, the last season of 'Breaking Bad' starts soon so I won't be bereft for long.

amigababy Sun 28-Jul-13 16:15:23

bonjour tristesse when it finishes.

and I know someone who looks almost exactly like Thomas. Which is creepy!

qazxc Sun 28-Jul-13 17:59:30

Juste trois heures a attendre! Je suis tres excitee!

IdaBlankenship Sun 28-Jul-13 18:42:45

Oh a remake on the go already - what's the point? Everyone would know the story by then.
I can't believe its the final one already.. very excited

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 21:02:58

Sorry not to have been around - just wanted to jump in quickly to say heads down for our last ep! Maybe we'll get some answers <fat chance>

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:05:52

Who's the bloke shouting to Camille?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:08:00

Ok that woman that had blonde hair crying over the dead man really looked like Julie.

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:09:17

And victor is Louis? He was around 35 years ago when it first flooded. Does anyone remember when he died in the shooting? That was not long after wasn't it?

C'est bientôt la fin...

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:10:42

Im here.

altostratus Sun 28-Jul-13 21:11:58

Am listening on another screen at the moment. Have people started to leave? The litter we just saw, it looked abandoned.

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:14:16

I think that was from 35 years ago

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:14:39

I wonder if Toni will recognise Victor?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:16:03

Interesting how they made serge and Toni and victor/louis the same age

girliefriend Sun 28-Jul-13 21:17:30

I thought the man shouting was the dead man the woman was crying over 35 years ago.

Victor is the creepiest kid ever, I think he could give Damien a run for his money grin

ILovePonyo Sun 28-Jul-13 21:18:37

So all this has taken place over a week? That man was shouting camille when she had first returned, non? confused

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:18:53

Annonces avec sous-titres!

Handprints on windscreen - pant wetting time.

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:20:26

I think the week was a week earlier o the 35 years ago ie 35yrs and one week earlier

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:20:27

Lucy is a returned then. She did the magical appearing and disappearing then.

Wonder if she always has been or just since the stabbing.

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:20:34

Whappen in the Pub?

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:20:36

Surely Serge would be younger than victor?

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:20:54

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:21:15

proper zombie!!

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:22:01

I think this has all taken place over just a week or two.

What's French for "heeby-jeebies"?

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:24:15

Le heebie jeebies.

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:24:20

Les heeebie jeebiez?

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:26:07

Don't get out the car in a forest!

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:27:35

oh dear

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:27:55

Oh wow, I audibly gasped at that.

girliefriend Sun 28-Jul-13 21:29:22

I think Victor needs some serious time out - that is unacceptable behaviour!!!

He is bad bad bad.

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:31:09

See V is obviously evil. Tony saved Julie yet V still made him shoot himself. But he didn't kill Pierre (helping hand. Guy?) even though he was involved in his family's deaths - ????

Also what normal child would wander through a tent of dead bodies?

Victor is the only returned who kills people isn't he, as far as we know?

I cannot see how the frick they are going to reach any kind of conclusion in 40 mins.

So Lucy is definitely a baddie. I definitely have les heebie jeebies.

Adele and Lena both pg by Revs! Le Grand Plan.

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:35:15

Zombie babies next series.

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 21:37:27

Watching and trying to keep up with it all!

coffeeinbed Sun 28-Jul-13 21:38:57

tell what?
they all know by now she's camille.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:39:56

Yes, I didn't get the don't tell anyone thing.

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 21:40:02

I thought the same

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:40:30

Who got took?

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:41:30

Was it adeles dd who was taken?

This is going to end on a standoff like Zulu with zombies.

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:41:32

Didn't Fredric pretend that he believed Camillie was a cousin?

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 21:42:02

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:42:13

Yes but Camille has been open about who sheis for ages now.

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:42:24

I can't watch Victor being murdered again. That was horrid sad

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 21:42:53

The Fairy!

coffeeinbed Sun 28-Jul-13 21:43:38

well yes, but why not tell.
whether he tell anyone or not, everybody knows she's camille.

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:43:40

So Julie is the fairy? His mums coming back?

Wasn't his brother at the bedside in the originl flashback?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:44:59

No, she means dont tell anyone about her rotting face

coffeeinbed Sun 28-Jul-13 21:45:14

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:46:04

Victor said the other week that Julie is his fairy.

Does Julie realise Serge is the serial killer?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:46:19

Julie is pivotal to it all, even as a non returned.

Or is she a seasoned returned who can sleep and control their appetite like Simon and mrs costs are.

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:47:03

Yes she knows that's why she said you're in my head I think but that also makes it seems like she knows about the visions

Alconleigh Sun 28-Jul-13 21:47:20

Oh dear lord, Serge turning to Julie for comfort has really got to me, I am freaked out!

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 21:47:25

I've got more questions than ever now!!

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:48:07

But Julie has scars and was shocked by V's rotting flesh whereas Simon and mrs costa aren't phased

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 21:51:28

Where is everyone eg frederick's parents

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:54:04

It's almost a bit like nazi occupied France...I hate this.

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:56:19

Don't worry about your other daughter or saying goodbye to her then Claire!!

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:57:28

When's the second series?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:58:01

They didn't give Chloe back did they?? And mrs costa seems scared for someone who has been a returned for a long time

PatFenis Sun 28-Jul-13 21:58:18

November 2014 apparently Viva

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 21:58:30

Viva, end of 2014 I think. Not even begun filming it.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 21:58:47

Mon dieu, not till late 2014.

cocolepew Sun 28-Jul-13 21:59:16

It's so scary! I'm such a wimp.

thenightsky Sun 28-Jul-13 22:00:16

F-ing F-ing digibox twattery stopped recording at 23 mins and I was watching it slightly behind you all. Now I've got to avoid reading anything until it comes on +1 and then wait till 10.23. Grrrrr.

VenusStarr Sun 28-Jul-13 22:00:47

I love Julie's relationship with Victor / Louis smile when he knocked the window and they walked to hug each other, loved it.

I don't want it to end!! sad it's too good! Still not sure what's happening but I've loved this series. So good.

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:01:08

As an aside, that horror film they just advertised i am NOT ever planning to see.....

girliefriend Sun 28-Jul-13 22:01:19

Found that bit quite emotional - but then i am a bit hormonal atm grin

Was just thinking what would i do if my dead dd came back as a zombie and then lots of other zombies wanted to take her with them.... no brainer really as obv you would take your chances with the zombies and in a way death wouldn't be the worst thing in the world given that its app not permanent!!

riskit4abiskit Sun 28-Jul-13 22:01:29

I dont get why the people at the helping hand dont just ask lucy or the zombies what they actually want, wouldn't you?

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 22:01:55

But Venus he's eviiiiillllll

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 22:03:08

Knew Adele was one

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:03:27

So is adele a returned?? Or is slit just because she is pregnant???

PatFenis Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:08

Is Adele pg with Simons baby and that's why they want her too?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:15

Ah she isn't a returned, they just want her baby.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:40

Zombie baby.

Yes, I agree. First thing surely you'd be ask is what do you want?

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:43

What happened to serge and toni?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:47

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:47

Oh no!!

PatFenis Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:52

Right at the start of the episode she looked decidedly nauseous when she was cooking

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 22:04:58

So Lena mustn't be pregnant

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 22:05:09

girliefriend Sun 28-Jul-13 22:05:23

poor coppers on the outside, thats a bit mean...

ffs how will I sleep tonight!!

altostratus Sun 28-Jul-13 22:05:23

Goodness this is so nailbiting. The shutters having come down.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 22:05:35

See, just like Zulu.

coffeeinbed Sun 28-Jul-13 22:05:49

yes, don't they want serge as well?

BeaWheesht Sun 28-Jul-13 22:05:55

Why not ask for serge

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:06:06

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:06:26

Aaaw tonis mum

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 22:06:46

Where are the coppers?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:07:09

Where are Thomas, polic et al???

coffeeinbed Sun 28-Jul-13 22:07:56

she's very tall, Adele.

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:08:13

Think that one copper just got promoted

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:08:35

Ooooh the whole village is back

MrsDeVere Sun 28-Jul-13 22:08:42

definitely upduffed.

What kind of an ending is that????!!!!

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:09:12

Fuckity fuck

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:09:36

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 22:10:26

Wow. So, poor Adele is going to their target so they can get her zombie baby and the town is gone.
Well, it was never going to end well when the dead came back to life grin

coffeeinbed Sun 28-Jul-13 22:10:29

I'm getting pissed off now.
First the Fall ended or not unresolved,
now this.

Pennies Sun 28-Jul-13 22:10:40

Did they drown the new town then?

PatFenis Sun 28-Jul-13 22:11:12

Talk about a bloody cliff hanger - I'm never going to remember all the twists and turns between now and next November grrrr!

VenusStarr Sun 28-Jul-13 22:11:13

Ah victor isn't evil, he just wants to be loved! And Julie us his fairy smile

It's definitely coming back, we don't know what they want or why they returned. I hope it's back early 2014, can't wait to see what happens as it is!

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 22:11:56

Arf at Susie and the lone copper being promoted. You're right, though!

BOF Sun 28-Jul-13 22:12:00

I'm very confused.

VenusStarr Sun 28-Jul-13 22:12:06

Next November?!? No I can't wait that long. Glad I taped it all now, will have to periodically rewatch so I can remember for when it returns smile

altostratus Sun 28-Jul-13 22:12:09

They just said it will return next year. What a final episode!

altostratus Sun 28-Jul-13 22:12:38

November is too long to wait.

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:12:42

This series will most likely be repeated just before series two starts so we will have to watch it all over againsmile

AvonCallingBarksdale Sun 28-Jul-13 22:12:45

Found that rather emotional sad can't wait till next year!

Pennies Sun 28-Jul-13 22:13:02

Also... I can get it if only those that drowned in the original flood came back to reflood the place again but what us the point of the others who died in different circs coming back?

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 22:13:23

I'm confused by the building.

Is that the new town underwater, or the old town coming into view as the lake gets lower?

smokinaces Sun 28-Jul-13 22:13:47

The new town is still there. That's the old village where the dam has receeded. Think all they had view wise before was the water in the dam.

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 22:13:47

The boxset is out in the autumn, apparently - I will need it to recap before series II grin
<starts xmas list>

PatFenis Sun 28-Jul-13 22:14:17

They are filming the next series in Feb and March 2014 - to be screened in November according to the tinterwebs

VenusStarr Sun 28-Jul-13 22:14:39

I thought it was the old town coming into view as the dam drained

cocolepew Sun 28-Jul-13 22:14:50

Pierre was very put out that he was being rebuffed by the zombies. I wonder what he thought was going to happen?

DH wants me to go and see that scary movie with him at the cinema. He has no hope shock

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 22:14:54

I thought we saw the new town flooded and the old town revealed??confused

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:15:03

I think that's the old village they all saw

susiedaisy Sun 28-Jul-13 22:15:59

Another series to appreciate the gorgeous Simon grin

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 22:16:49

It's gong to be very snowy in Feb and March to be filming up at Tignes.

I'd told dd we're not skiing next year but I'm tempted to go now to see if we can see them filming!

cocolepew Sun 28-Jul-13 22:17:05

That policeman, Thomas?, has great legs.

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 22:20:27

Why do we think some of the Returned were more like traditional zombies - ie flesh rotting away?

As for why they didn't want Toni, Serge et mere - well who the hell would want that disfunctional family around wink

teejwood Sun 28-Jul-13 22:23:05

Ah pressed post too soon. I wondered if the rotten flesh was a sign of the zombies who had no-one to come back to or who felt unwelcome?

Also wondered if there was a bit of a "Mother Mary" riff about the whole thing? The role of mothers - either real or adopted - was very prevalent the whole way through. And wouldn't Victor's mum be among the horde?

VenusStarr Sun 28-Jul-13 22:26:16

We still don't know how Simon died and also why was he so angry all the time? He was really aggressive, so I think there's more to come with his and Adele's relationship.

daimbardiva Sun 28-Jul-13 22:31:32

More confused than ever, but a great episode, very emotional. Have loved reading all the comments you posted while watching, v funny!

I think I was right when I said that some people are deader than others...but I don't know why still!

I can't believe s 2 hasn't even started filming yet ....Nov 2014?!!!! Whhhattt?!!!

alabasterangel Sun 28-Jul-13 22:31:48

Totally baffled.

So....we don't know why they're back or what they want... But can someone please confirm, a load of people died when the dam burst (and after the dam burst and people died, the remains of the village was submerged to make the reservoir) and since then other people have also died (victor/burglary, Simon/suicide, Camille/coach) etc etc but they have also 'returned ' too.....?

So there is no known connection still between the dam, the newer deceased and why anyone is actually back?

And that nasty costa lady said 'they'll get their revenge' outside the mortuary tent (so I get that, and possible 'revenge' zombie motives) but don't get the unrelated return of the others who died much later....?

Have I understood that right

BOF Sun 28-Jul-13 22:33:20

Can anybody explain it to me? DP is sure that the town is their own, flooded, because of the tower blocks.

VivaLeBeaver Sun 28-Jul-13 22:35:29

According to Wiki it is their new town, flooded.

daimbardiva Sun 28-Jul-13 22:37:14

I thought it was the new town that was flooded 'cos of the tower blocks too. And I also thought that the horde are all the people that died in the original dam-burst (the revenge-seeking ones) - all the other returned that we know died in different ways ...but it kind of seems once they have come to terms with how they died they start to decompose...

Oh, that doesn't really make sense at all, I have no idea!!

MooMinCow Sun 28-Jul-13 22:39:15

Bloody smirking serial shagger Lucy - was that the reason for her clairvoyant bonkathons? Was she trying to get upduffed, and realised she couldn't have a zombie baby so sent Simon to impregnate Adele?

Why didn't they ask for Serge & familie? Why was Pierre trying to befriend them?

Too many questions.....hmm

ButThereAgain Sun 28-Jul-13 22:41:46

Hmm. Pretty awful final episode. Didn't really tie anything up at all. Very disappointing.

LauraPashley Sun 28-Jul-13 22:46:43

I'm sure it is the new town that was flooded, it had taller buildings?

Did anyone else think Adele did very little to stop her daughter being taken?!

Is the link between the flood dead and the more recently dead perhaps that flood dead people caused their deaths? So they are linked somehow? Victor caused Camille's death, we don't know about Simon...

...actually no that theory does not pan out does it. Hmmmmm!

I still think Pierre is up to some resurrection crap, is he the link? Why did he kill (or his partner kill) victor/Louis' mum???

LauraPashley Sun 28-Jul-13 22:48:04

I thought maybe the sleeping was significant? Victor might start to go mouldy now he's had a wee nap?! (And mrs costa knew this)

qazxc Sun 28-Jul-13 22:50:27

Yes the new town is now under water, tower blocks et all.
Jeez Claire didn't seem to be too Sophie's choice at leaving Lena behind did she? Not a goodbye, I love you or saying to jerome i'll go with camille, please make sure lena's ok.
Yes the returned didn't seem to be too concerned about the nutty/serial killer family joining them. Maybe if Lucy saw serge naked she might reconsider.

VenusStarr Sun 28-Jul-13 22:53:27

Have they made Chloe a returnee so that she will protect the new baba do you think?

qazxc Sun 28-Jul-13 22:54:18

I think Pierre thought he might be some sought of messiah to returned and living and got a shock when he was shot down by Lucy. "no we don't need/want your help you twonk, we've just popped round for the zombies"

rosy71 Sun 28-Jul-13 22:56:45

I really enjoyed that! It's the new town flooded; presumably that was the revenge of those who died when the old dam broke. Not quite sure what will happen next though1

rosy71 Sun 28-Jul-13 22:59:10

Oh yes, looked on Wikipedia and Lucy became a rev after being attacked by Serge. She wasn't before. All the revs must have returned at the same time. I thought it was really good to see all the others as Camille was returning home; we didn't see that at the time.

aliasjoey Sun 28-Jul-13 23:04:25

So if it was the new town which flooded, then everyone who is at the Helping Hand got 'saved' ...

aliasjoey Sun 28-Jul-13 23:05:44

And BTW, Laure was pathetic

I knew it would be a wholly unsatisfactory ending.
Why the frick didn't they just put the shutters down to begin with?!?

It's like Titanic and the door all over again

utahforever Sun 28-Jul-13 23:12:11

Soooooo many questions, I don't know where to begin. Loved it though grin

Victor is NOT going to be evil - he just wants to be loved! Although he is going a bit rotten on his arms shock, but long sleeves will sort that.

nennypops Sun 28-Jul-13 23:28:04

Well, it is a BIT evil to turn into Serge and make Toni shoot himself? And indeed to turn into Serge and give Julie a hell of a fright. And I don't think we ever found out whether he killed cat lady, did we?

utahforever Sun 28-Jul-13 23:33:09

Ah, but I think he was being kind helping Toni find some peace before he died.

Cat lady was obviously unhappy with her life, and I think Serge with Julie happened while he was distracted with cat lady wink

encyclogirl Sun 28-Jul-13 23:34:10

Loved it! Simon seems to have totally gone to the dark side. Did anyone notice Camille's face had almost healed?

cocolepew Sun 28-Jul-13 23:37:09

No Victor is a bad 'un, getting Toni to shoot himself.
Why was Serge upset at Toni's death? Will he not be zombified now?

BoreOfWhabylon Sun 28-Jul-13 23:48:31

Bewildered. Clearly we must wait for the next series - I hate it when they do that.

On the plus side, my Homeopathic Dam Theory has not yet been disproved... grin

SinisterBuggyMonth Mon 29-Jul-13 00:07:47

I think Victor is targeting specific people to reconnect theme with there dead families, he went for Toni (Serge and mum) and Chloe (Simon and Adele the Zombie-carrier). Doesn't explain Pierre (revenge) or nosey cat lady neighbour (irritation?)

I still think Victor is cute no matter how many people he murders nudges on their way.

2014? Waaaahhh!

nennypops Mon 29-Jul-13 00:14:20

Just had a thought, I wonder what they'll do about Victor in the next series? The actor will have grown quite a bit, won't he? I don't really see how they can abandon the character so maybe they'll have to draft someone else in.

altostratus Mon 29-Jul-13 01:53:27

I thought I saw Claire exchange a (very) brief look with her husband, which I think was intended to convey something. He didn't try to dissuade her, certainly.

Was very emotional when they tried to take Camille. The other revs seemed resigned to going.

eightytwenty Mon 29-Jul-13 07:06:50

I don't get why Julie didn't run from Serge as soon as he appeared. And then why she didn't confront him with a load of why's. And why didn't serge attack her again? Has he changed? And why didn't Lucy know he was there. Seems unlikely she wouldn't. Still wonder if Lucy is the fairy.

Next will hopefully explain what happened after the dam broke.

qazxc Mon 29-Jul-13 07:23:05

Julie would recognise Serge, but Serge wouldn't have recognised Julie as she was in costume at the time. Maybe he only belly scoffs in the underpass of doom?

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Jul-13 07:27:44

Mon dieu! That was a very emotional hour. I was in floods of tears when Victor and Camille were being dragged off.
I did find Adele's reaction to Simon taking Chloe rather strange - she seems like she is in a permanent catatonic state. Surely you would put up more of a fight if a dead person tried to take your daughter?
Serge appearing Julie was genuinely scary.
I'm confused though - what does it all meeeeannn?

Pennies Mon 29-Jul-13 07:56:26

When they asked for Adele, Thomas didn't say anything like "Er.... Nope coz she's not dead" which leads me to think that she is a rev as well and died - maybe momentarily- when she cut her wrists.

NoHank Mon 29-Jul-13 08:41:30

I really enjoyed it but did find it very emotional at the end and them dragging off the returned. I hate Thomas even more now. He was quite happy to throw other people's children to the wolves in order to save his precious Adeles daughter. Wonder how he'll feel about bringing up another mans zombie baby?

I guessed they would ask for Adele but did wonder why they didn't ask for Serge and his newly appeared mum And what does Lucy want them all for? Why does she need a whole gang of them? They seem to have a bit of a telepathy thing going on too don't they.

I also loved the scene with Julie and the possibly very evil but also very cute Victor where they walked to the door for a cuddle.

And if they are so evil, why didn't they do anything to Julie and whatsherface in the car when they came to get Victor?

And where did all the coppers go? There was no blood or signs of a struggle were there?

And nothing really to do with the plot but I only noticed last night that the sign for the lake poob is in English and so is the one on the building next door, I think it said bar and lounge. I was wondering if it is supposed to be the French version of a british pub, like when you go abroad and there is always an Irish bar or Traditional English bar called the George and Dragon.

Aethelfleda Mon 29-Jul-13 08:42:18

It's interesting that it's still not 100% clear whether Adele and Julie are revs: they didn't ask for Julie because they didn't need to. And why was Serge not asked for? Still not clear if the "survivors" at the helping hand are genuinely the only survivors because the rest of the new town holed up and are drownded/trapped, or whether the other townspeople just left before weird-arse lockdown circular town. We haven't had the "everybody's dead, Dave" cop-out I was expecting... Talking of which, where did all the gendarmes disappear to, and does that include Julie's girlfriend? And Thomas?

Gingersnap88 Mon 29-Jul-13 08:43:15

Maybe they need Serge as his story has sort of resolved? That scene with all three of them there: Serge, Toni and their mum, all dead, all at peace with each other? Victor / Louis made it sound like revenge was important to those who have returned?

Gingersnap88 Mon 29-Jul-13 08:43:42

* don't need Serge, sorry silly typo

cocolepew Mon 29-Jul-13 08:53:55

I think they didn't ask for Serge because he wasn't staying at The Helping Hands, he was only there to see Toni. I think Mummy Zombie was sent in to get him.

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Jul-13 09:18:45

So where did all the gendarmes go? The thumping on the blinds was way creepy

rosy71 Mon 29-Jul-13 09:32:55

I think they didn't ask for Serge because he wasn't staying at The Helping Hands, he was only there to see Toni.

I agree. They only needed to ask for the others because they were choosing to be with the living.

I had forgotten about nosey cat lady

smokinaces Mon 29-Jul-13 10:11:46

Was about to say same thing about serge, he wasn't being held by the living but had gone to look for his brother. His mother came to bring him back.

Was laure with them outside then? I saw Thomas and handsome police man were. Wonder where they all were.

I do wonder why lena didn't go join them. Shed got all friendly with serge and her sister and seemed changed since the forest but didn't go.

aliasjoey Mon 29-Jul-13 10:41:00

why did Toni choose to try suicide at the dam ? What is it with that dam?

How did Camille know that Lena saw some zombies in the forest - is that the twin telepathic link? Did Lena go and join them? Maybe its a zombie telepathic link... Lena has become much nicer since then.

rosy71 Mon 29-Jul-13 10:45:59

Didn't Camille say Lena had told their parents about the zombies in the forest?

NoHank Mon 29-Jul-13 11:24:36

Camille said their parents didn't tell her. I think they all have a bit of a telepathic link going on. When Lucy visited Simon in the prison they appeared to be communicating without speaking. I think that's what all the handprints on the police car were too. The revs "talking" to Victor through the windows.

Did anyone notice Pierre's 2 henchmen that he kept sending to do his bidding? I did wonder where they had popped up from, hadn't noticed them before. They certainly seemed to treat Pierre like some kind of boss.

Cirrostratus Mon 29-Jul-13 11:50:04

Yes, I'd say telepathic link with Lena. There was a similar link going on during the flashback of the coach crash.

BOF Mon 29-Jul-13 11:50:18

Right, bear with me- I was clearer on this at about 4am when I w

BOF Mon 29-Jul-13 11:53:13

woke up from having the dream.

Victor has been in a coma for thirty years. And, um, something about angels and nurses and Julie.

Oh bugger, it made perfect sense in the middle of the night. I've forgotten why though.

aliasjoey Mon 29-Jul-13 12:19:47

NotHank my DH noticed Pierre's henchmen as well, not sure why so many people turned up to the Helping Hand - were they all bereaved?

Why did Victor say that Toni killed his mum?

VivaLeBeaver Mon 29-Jul-13 12:27:11

I think Victor meant that Toni's mum died of a broken heart after Toni killed Serge.....so that indirectly he was responsibile for her death as well.

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Jul-13 13:29:27

Oh BOF, i hope they don't go with the "its all a dream angle" but I agree Victor seems like a focal point for all other characters. He has been present with all the other Revs either before or after they died (and in Camille's case, seemed to be a contributing factor) - apart from Simon unless he is later revealed to have been present at Simon's death also.

EatYourCrusts Mon 29-Jul-13 13:50:35

Thomas was stupid to not give up Adele, because now he is dead, or a zombie, they will still be after her, and there's no-one to care for Chloe once Adele is taken.

I don't think Victor is evil, he said to Julie it wasn't his fault when Chloe had her vision. I think people just see things when he is around. Their greatest fear?

BOF Mon 29-Jul-13 13:54:00

He couldn't have really been on the road though, unless he was astrally projecting or something- he'd been dead 26 years by that time.

Aethelfleda Mon 29-Jul-13 13:56:30

Hmmm, Victor wasn't close to Serge and Toni, though, was he, Toni just recalled him from school days....

I agree Victor seems to be a doodah apart from the other Revs, though why??

It's a bit weird with Lucy being the head Rev spokesman, I suppose they are playing up the psychic link making her a bit Uber-type. I think I prefer her not being a Rev but being in town for a dastardly agenda reason.

Hey, given that there's a revelation quote on the Helping Hand board, and that the French for "Revelation" is "Appocolypse", could this be the Four Horsemen? Pestilence is the funny marks on the Revs, War is Victor inciting people to violence, Famine is the food running out and Death is in the next series?

coffeeinbed Mon 29-Jul-13 14:15:51

I really like the Lucy = Lucifer theory.

Aethelfleda Mon 29-Jul-13 15:00:26

She (Lucy) certainly looked a lot more evil/knowing in the final episode, didn't she, coffee?..... Well, if she is, maybe all the Revs were whisked off into purgatory/other side of proverbial veil by her, and took the gendarmes with them...

encyclogirl Mon 29-Jul-13 15:17:33

I think Lucy has totally 'evilled up' Simon. No way was he like that in the first few episodes, but last night he was definitely in on something.

Camille was the on Rev totally out of the loop. Mrs Costa was knowing as was Victor. Camille was the most non-Rev of the Revs now that I think about it.

encyclogirl Mon 29-Jul-13 15:36:47

Plus...I now see that Lucy's initial reaction not to run away from Serge when he attacked her in the underpass is somehow connected to what she eventually became, IYSWIM.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 29-Jul-13 15:45:46

I think the returned have disappeared for the day. But in the next series they'll be back at nightfall banging on the roof to get Adele again.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 29-Jul-13 15:51:28

not reading any replies - just about to watch as i worked last night

god the tension!!!!!

guineapiglet Mon 29-Jul-13 16:23:30

I guess we all knew series 2 was lurking so not surprised there wasnt a neatly drawn ending but i thought it a brilliant finale with a standoff between the two groups....some thoughts:

We never really see anyone in the horde, inlt lucy and sumon , we never see whether they are angry or have any idea of theur 'feelings' toward the living... Why would they wish the living harm? If they have loved them like serge's mum loved her boys.

I hated the ' round up' it had kind of undertones if the nazi occupation ofFrance, with the villargers as the resistance, people being taken against their will at night, people not speaking out. We now have a zombie baby and a reflooded town....hope the supplies last.
And where is the rest of the population outside the town?

It is like the antithesis of things like twilight and the waking dead and other zombie type stuff. Will miss it.

guineapiglet Mon 29-Jul-13 16:25:26

Only lucy and simon

EatYourCrusts Mon 29-Jul-13 16:31:16

I really enjoyed how the whole series there was just an undercurrent of sinister stuff, brief flashes of violence, not necessarily always to do with the revs, and only at the very end did they come out as a direct threat. Great build up.

cocolepew Mon 29-Jul-13 16:57:12

I think Simon got angrier because Adele wasn't waiting for him. He seemed confused that he had been dead at first and seemed to think that everything would be the same as before. Then Adele was married and pushed him away and he got pissed. Like only a zombie can.

TiredyCustards Mon 29-Jul-13 17:14:57

I've been lurking for the whole series (much like la horde!), really enjoyed this thread.

Here is my theory:
In episode 7 or 8 Julie and Adele are in Adele's kitchen. Julie says something like, 'there was a time when you and I weren't so formal' - so I think Adele is bisexual, and possibly visited Lucy for a sexy seance.

So... I think Lucy has brought back the loved ones of her customers into the town, for a short time, after which they have to go with the rest of the more zombie like ones.

Jerome - customer
Toni - Lucy's boss, possibly engaged her services.
Mr Costa - possibly a customer.

I think Pierre was under the impression this was his prayer group/cults doing, but is wrong.

Victor's different obv, he's been around for a while/returned before.

I think Victor killed Simon, in a hallucination/suicide.That's why he doesn't think he killed himself but others do.

IdaBlankenship Mon 29-Jul-13 17:19:43

Good theory Tiredy re: Victor / Simon's death. I wish we knew why Victor makes people see things and if he has evil intent or not - he didn't look so innocent putting that gun in Toni's hand

VivaLeBeaver Mon 29-Jul-13 17:27:25

I want to know what Adele and Julie are going to do/how will they be treated trotting off with a load of zombies. Will they be killed, made to dance round campfires in the woods, etc.

toldmywrath Mon 29-Jul-13 18:21:19

Fleda I like your theory about the apocalypse!
Did anyone else think how improbably tidy it was outside the Helping Hand the morning after? Do they have Zombie council operatives do you think?

toldmywrath Mon 29-Jul-13 18:22:25

Fleda I like your theory about the apocalypse!

toldmywrath Mon 29-Jul-13 18:26:21

Well that was strange-a double post (no idea !)
A brilliant series, can't wait for the follow up. Wasn't this based upon a film (will have to wiki/google it) & if so I'll probably watch that too.

trincomalee Mon 29-Jul-13 22:23:46

Recorded last night's episode, so have only just seen it. I didn't realise that the flooded town was the new town. shock

DP kept saying 'Why aren't they asking for Serge?' but I guess Serge was free to come or go - not held by chains of affection, like Camille and Victor - so he could join the others any time.

Though, now I think of it, so was Mrs Costa ... confused

I really want to know what will become of Julie and Claire. Will they have to be deaded so they can truly join the horde? Will Victor find his Mum and so not need Julie any more?

EatingAllTheCrumpets Tue 30-Jul-13 08:04:28

What a series! I was in tears last night watching the families get ripped apart all over again.

I'm thinking along the lines of revenge in terms if why they have returned. Assuming "la horde" are those killed in the first dam break, possibly because of negligence or lack of evacuation.
Lucy - murdered by Serge
serge - murdered by Toni
Mum - died of a broken heard by Toni's actions
Victor - murdered by Pierre
Mme Costa - who knows but possibly a tragic death
Simon - murdered or suicide
Camille - tragic "accident" but also was troubled before hand when she realised Lena was with Frederick

So I wonder if they have returned to bring pain and suffering to the living again. But who knows. Why has victor showed up previously when the other revs all returned at once?

I can't wait until November.... It's not fair!!

aliasjoey Tue 30-Jul-13 10:42:10

Tiredy that's a great idea about Adele and Lucy having a sex seance.

I thought at the end when they all saw the flooded village... they didn't exactly look surprised or shocked. Or worried about friends/relatives.

encyclogirl Tue 30-Jul-13 11:23:37

I think the village/town was empty though. There were shots of dogs roaming around rubbish strewn streets.

Also didn't Lena say about Fredric and his friend "Why are they still here?". And the Dam workers got out "While they still could."

I think only Pierre's followers' and the police stayed on. It's weird though, why didn't those families want to know if their children were amongst the returned?

EatingAllTheCrumpets Tue 30-Jul-13 12:25:45

This is fab... it links to the French site, I've not visited as at work, and I don't speak French so would be hard to navigate! However Den Of Geek have translated some of it. Not sure if it really gives much insight into anything, but does add to some of the background... especially with Serge.

daimbardiva Tue 30-Jul-13 12:34:44

encyclogirl that is a really good point - so the town had been evacuated but only Pierre's acolytes, the Revs who had family/attachments still living and the police were at the HH.

Really, really good point about why didn't the families want to know if their kids were out there in "la horde" - or maybe, like Sandrine, Audrey's mum they had all decided the Revs were evil after what happened with Camille and Esteban's parents?

Damn, damn, damn the unmade second series!

juneau Tue 30-Jul-13 13:27:33

I watched the final episode last night and I have to admit that I was really disappointed. So many loose ends left untied, so many questions and actually rather lot of bits that made no sense to me.

Why, for instance, did Julie not TOTALLY freak out to see her attacker standing right behind her in the basement??? I know she's quite a self-contained type, but earlier in the series she was clearly terrified by the prospect of seeing him again.

Why did the horde not demand that Serge join them?

What happened to the police outside the building?

Why were Julie and Claire allowed to go with them and what has happened to them?

I thought that Victor would be reunited with his mother and that Julie would be left behind. Not sure what I thought about Claire, but I feel so frustrated that we know so little about the horde, what they want, why any of them came back.

Mrs Costa said that the dead would want their revenge, but for what? Most of the people in the village now weren't responsible for their deaths, surely? Victor and Simon seemed to want revenge and Mrs Costa was not very nice, but what about Camille and why was Mrs Costa horrible to another Rev? Camille seemed upset and confused most of the time, not vengeful.

I've really enjoyed the series, but I hate that a series is no longer a self-contained whole and that a lot of things are left unexplained for the next one to pick up.

juneau Tue 30-Jul-13 13:32:15

why didn't those families want to know if their children were amongst the returned?

I hadn't even thought of this - good point! All those families wanting reassurance from Camille, you'd think they'd want to know.

cheerfulweather Tue 30-Jul-13 13:40:32

I was also disappointed we didn't get to see the returned. Camille asked if she would look like them. So I'm guessing they looked a little different

AvonCallingBarksdale Tue 30-Jul-13 13:42:33

What's happened to the police who were guarding the Helping Hand overnight - like Thomas and Laure? Where have they gone?

EatingAllTheCrumpets Tue 30-Jul-13 14:28:11

With regards to Julie meeting Serge I think she was just paralysed with fear, that he could hurt he again if she let on who she was, and that she knew who he was.
Or as she thinks she might be a returned that he can't harm her, so no need to run?

Tbh I didn't think her reaction was particularly odd.

Plenty of questions to be answered though.... Mainly what the hell do la horde want?! And are the police now part of the horde, or just dead? I think the second serious will be mainly about Adele and her escape from returned, which will be annoying as I find her very dull.

I did feel a little sorry for Pierre, he obviously thought he was instrumental in all this, when really he is nothing and nobody in the scheme of things.

OrmirianResurgam Tue 30-Jul-13 14:37:45

All I can say is ...Quoi? <gallic shrug>

Loved the series but lots of questions.

Marlinspike Tue 30-Jul-13 14:47:56

What do we think happened to the rotting skin - Lena's back wound, Camille's face and Victor's arm? We never saw Lena's back after Serge rubbed the nettle paste into it - did that work? Camille's face was healing when she went over to the rev side at the end of the episode.

Also what about the resurrected wolf in one of the earlier episodes?

Aargh! Too long to wait until series 2!

encyclogirl Tue 30-Jul-13 14:49:02

Also one of Pierre's henchmen said, "You said they wouldn't hurt us" I got the feeling they went back a bit.

Like they'd been 'following' Pierre a long time?

Pierre knew the dead would return. He knows how they came back too. The bit he seems to have got wrong is his importance in the event. Did he see himself as leading the Revs?

Marlinspike Tue 30-Jul-13 14:49:47

Likewise Eating. Adele is boring and strange! She was all set to run away with sexy Simon, yet spurned him for Thomas - and this is the man who watched her every move with hidden cameras!

encyclogirl Tue 30-Jul-13 15:00:55

I've gone right off Seeemon recently. He's definitely gone to the dark side Rev-wise.

Thomas always has exactly the same expression no matter what happens.
Even as the shutters lowered...exact same expression. It's annoying. I think I fancy him now though.

IdaBlankenship Tue 30-Jul-13 15:16:47

Fancy Thomas? Non - ce n'est pas possible!

cocolepew Tue 30-Jul-13 15:31:47

I fancy Thomas. Its those long legs in his tight uniform and boots <perv>

IdaBlankenship Tue 30-Jul-13 15:36:21

I prefer the other gendarme - Thomas is too flarey of nostril

TiredyCustards Tue 30-Jul-13 15:37:09

We did see one of the returned, the one drinking toilet water.

encyclogirl Tue 30-Jul-13 15:43:50

YYY Coco, it's all in the walk/swagger. I didn't fancy him at first, but I'm getting there. Big time.

cheerfulweather Tue 30-Jul-13 15:57:14

Adele is a bit of a wet lettuce.
I thought it was noble of Thomas to sacrifice himself (but I don't fancy him), he didn't too look confident as the shutters went down.

cheerfulweather Tue 30-Jul-13 15:57:29

look too, not too luck!

aliasjoey Tue 30-Jul-13 16:48:31

Fancy Thomas ?! shock Are you kidding, that's weirder than everything else put together...

Yonihadtoask Tue 30-Jul-13 18:58:46

I had to wait until this afternoon to catch this episode.

Am even more confused now smile

So the new town is flooded?

What happened to the police guarding the helping hand? No blood n guts outside.

Has Chloe been revved while with La Horde so that the baby will have to be taken?/

Over a year to wait!!!

LauraPashley Tue 30-Jul-13 20:19:41

I think the bang bang bangs were the police shooting (fruitlessly) shooting at the revs, then when all the shootings were over the revs just swooped in and grabbed them? Hence no blood etc?

Clawdy Tue 30-Jul-13 21:30:06

Brilliant ambiguous ending...and found myself thinking Jerome looked rather tasty...shock

susiedaisy Tue 30-Jul-13 21:48:59

Yes Thomas does have the same expression most of the time, bewildered and catching flies with that bottom lipgrin

daimbardiva Tue 30-Jul-13 21:55:11

calwdy yes, I think Jerome has a beautiful face - if only he'd sort his hair out!!

Aethelfleda Tue 30-Jul-13 22:09:05

Nah, Thomas the gurning does not appeal I'm afraid. If only See-mon wasn't so darned evil now he has been spurned, those CURLS.... <sigh>

Need to rewatch the series really, I'm sure different things will stand out on rewatching. Did we ever jump to conclusions about all the pairs of candles?

susiedaisy Tue 30-Jul-13 22:13:11

Which one is Jerome ??

AvonCallingBarksdale Tue 30-Jul-13 22:17:47

~Jerome is Camille and Lena's dad

susiedaisy Tue 30-Jul-13 23:08:14

Ah thanks

Ewww no not keen on him!smile

encyclogirl Wed 31-Jul-13 00:19:56

Jerome looks like Gargamel from the Smurfs.

Aethelfleda Wed 31-Jul-13 09:02:30

That's OK encyclo, reduces the competition for See-mon!

<dreams about brooding eighties-curly-hair>

wonder where all the revs have holed up for the day? Rip in the space-time continuum?

Now that would be a Good youtube interim teaser episode...cut to the flooded new town and pan left to reveal an English police box....

EatYourCrusts Wed 31-Jul-13 09:48:00

Jerome does have a beautiful face.

cheerfulweather Wed 31-Jul-13 11:05:43

I've just looked up Jerome again as I didn't remember him as being beautiful.

I wouldn't have noticed if it hadn't been mentioned, I must say. He does actually have an appealing face, and for his age, I agree. But I do not like his hair <shallow>

toldmywrath Wed 31-Jul-13 11:43:50

Fleda to what part of Simon's body/hair are you referring? grin
Yes what happened to all the spent shells from the guns etc?

cheerfulweather Wed 31-Jul-13 11:53:11

toldmy The same thought crossed my mind about Simon grin blush

toldmywrath Wed 31-Jul-13 12:04:54

Glad it's not just me Cheerful !

Aethelfleda Wed 31-Jul-13 12:19:38

Eeew, the hairdo up top of course! You guys are grim!
I just like 1980s curly perms on a gent....

<furtles for the mind bleach>

EatingAllTheCrumpets Wed 31-Jul-13 13:18:49

Yes Jerome is rather lovely in the face, I would imagine he'd have been very good looking in his youth. The hair is appalling though!

I'm very keen on watching "Cold Showers" with the lovely See-mon, it looks very good with lots of naked Simon excellent acting

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 31-Jul-13 18:26:17

finally seen as been working nights and sleeping days

blondes is soooooooooooooooooooo disappointed sad

no real ending, lots of loose ends - still want to know how simon died, why didnt we ever see his death hmm

blondes stamps her foot!!!!

so has the new village been flooded, just like the old village, and the circle all starts again

Aethelfleda Thu 01-Aug-13 14:46:50

Yep blondes, that's the new village. Would you like to joine the queue for Jerome, Simon or Thomas?

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 01-Aug-13 16:16:01

Erm none of those appeal to me

Serge is quite cute - needs a shave though grin

Aethelfleda Thu 01-Aug-13 19:04:52

Hmm, serge looks a bit too Oasis brothers really...

Shall we all 'ole up in Le Lake Poob then?

<pours a tray of Kronenbourg 1664 and Perriers>

IdaBlankenship Thu 01-Aug-13 20:08:44

Surely we will need du pain, du vin and Boursin?

Twinklestein Thu 01-Aug-13 21:14:25

I need to know - was the flood revenge by the zombies for Adele keeping her demi-zombie child? Was it revenge for their own deaths?
Or was the town going to flood anyway, due to damn seepage, and being cooped up at the Helping Hand saved those people's lives?

Twinklestein Thu 01-Aug-13 21:15:50

PS I knew we were never going to find out about the flipping dead sheep...

wheredoistartmrs Thu 01-Aug-13 21:20:39

no he does not have a beautiful

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 01-Aug-13 22:05:36

Sadly a lack of decent totty

Jerone doesn't do it for me - dont like the baldness - tho my oh is bald has lack of hair on top of his head ad im totally in love with him

'Blonde swoons'

possibly Pierre - tho Simon had a small coy willy

Rollergirl1 Fri 02-Aug-13 00:11:21

Why is everyone so sure that it's the new village just cos it had tower blocks? Didn't they have tower blocks circa 78?

I don't think Chloe is Simon's child really. Remember the scene in one of the first episodes where it was just before their wedding and they were in bed and she told him she was pregnant? He didn't look happy like you would expect. So I reckon that he was secretly infertile and so knew Adele had been unfaithful somehow and that was the reason he killed himself.

How it all ties in, though, I don't know.

And where did the town vicar go? He seemed to know everyone. And then suddenly he is gone.

Sometimes I think the producers have no idea how a show is going to develop - they leave it open and stand back and let obsessives like us write the next series for them. grin

Did you know that the actor who plays Simon is called Pierre Perrier?

How French does a name have to be?!

BOF Fri 02-Aug-13 02:25:37

Rollergirl- the steeple was the first thing we saw if the old village, and tower blocks are obviously higher.

Plus we've seen the view from the Helping Hand before, and it was the town, not the lake.

BOF Fri 02-Aug-13 02:26:15

*of, not if

Aethelfleda Fri 02-Aug-13 08:09:40

That's a good thought curly, though I think there may be something else to come with Chloe, her "pictures" of Adele and Simon killing themselves were strangely reminiscent/mirroring of Victor/Louis's pictures......

Anyone worked out the candle pairs yet?

<pours morning cafe and warms the croissants>

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 02-Aug-13 12:49:48

so if the new village has been flooded where has the watr come from as the dam was getting lower

or is that a reallyblonde silly question?

Aethelfleda Fri 02-Aug-13 22:10:11

The water 'as come from the mountain of Zombie dribble from Le Horde....

Either that or someone left the taps on when they crossed over. Their water bill is going to be terrible.....

LauraPashley Fri 02-Aug-13 23:30:34

Hmm all these references to croissants etc are making me hungry!

I thought the dam was getting lower as it was leaking sneakily into the new town (esp into people's graves and the like), then eventually the revs made it go kaboom?

I agree re Pierre, I think he actually might be a bit of a red herring - he thought he was conjuring up and controlling the revs but actually they are doing things on their own and not bothering with him at all?

Milchardo Sat 03-Aug-13 16:52:28

Sunday night just won't be the same... (Until late next year!)

rosy71 Sat 03-Aug-13 19:17:27

The water level was getting lower because the dam was leaking. The water leaked into the new town, flooding it eventually.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 03-Aug-13 21:12:35

i dont get how the water would just flood like that, as in yes know the dam was leaking and went into the power plant hence why the town lost power, but surely it wouldnt just flood from that overnight

BaconAndAvocado Sun 04-Aug-13 09:03:33

Eek! A Sunday night sans Les Revenants, what on earth will we do?

Anyone seen The Mill? Missed it last week but need something gripping to fill hole left by my favourite French Zombie drama.

susiedaisy Sun 04-Aug-13 19:54:35

I know it's just not the same, I watched the mill it's a bit depressing so far!

Aethelfleda Sun 04-Aug-13 21:13:51

We're watching Dr Who..... the Shakespeare code on DVD.
It's fun but ees Not vairy Frrrench.....

VenusStarr Sun 04-Aug-13 21:58:02

I miss Les Revs sad I taped them all so think I might watch them all again on Sunday evenings to fill the void! Might help me to watch again to see all the things I missed.

The Mill and Southcliffe are not good substitutes sad sigh.

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 04-Aug-13 22:00:26

Venus - me too. Don't want to delete them sad

Aethelfleda Sun 04-Aug-13 22:22:48

Yep, I think a re-watch is in order...

<puts down another tray of cold bier and orders twenty-seven croque-messieurs>

lazypepper Mon 12-May-14 21:08:18

Am bringing this thread back to life as I want to know when the next series will be on.

Any one know???

VenusStarr Mon 12-May-14 21:52:41

I don't know lazypepper but I saw this thread and panicked that I'd missed the new series! I thought November was a suggested date? Not seen or heard anything, but I can't wait!! smile

BumPotato Mon 12-May-14 22:02:30

Don't know but if anyone is interested The Returned film, also French with subtitles, and including some of the same actors is currently on Netflix. I'm only about half an hour in, it is soooooooo slow.

lazypepper Mon 12-May-14 22:11:12

Ooh a film?? Will look out for that.

lazypepper Mon 12-May-14 22:12:28

Apologies Venus star. Didn't intend to get anyone panicked! !

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 14-May-14 21:30:48
