starts tomorrow and basically is about a man who 'fixes' things ie kills people lol and solves problems

love Liev tho always think of him from the scream films

tv mag has given it a good review and need a new series to get into smile

Oblomov Tue 16-Jul-13 13:00:48

Dh and I enjoyed it.
Jon Voight gives me the creeps. What did he DO to Ray Donovan? Did he sexually abuse him? I thought that was the priest, who Dad immediately shot upon his release.
And Donovan's wife, whilst I initially liked her, she is so ditzy to allow Donovan's dad straight back in, surely?
But then, all the other brothers seem completely under Dad's spell already.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 16-Jul-13 17:29:09

how have you watched?

starts tonight

<squints eyes>

have you downloaded or in usa

Oblomov Tue 16-Jul-13 22:02:35

no, no, was on sky. in the uk.

Ellenora5 Tue 16-Jul-13 22:27:40

I recorded it tonight, and have it on series link, hoping it's good, need something now that Luther will end next week sad

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 17-Jul-13 13:27:39

So it's not new oblomov? sad

And after all that I went to bed early as shattered but on planner so will try and watch when I'm not working

buzzgirly Wed 17-Jul-13 13:33:02

I have recorded it, I'm hoping it will replace the Banshee hole in my life!

Oblomov Wed 17-Jul-13 18:00:40

oh I love Banshee too.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 17-Jul-13 21:37:29

i keep hearing, well reading about banshee - its full of sex so i would like it grin

where can i watch it?

Dontwanttobeyourmonkeywrench Thu 18-Jul-13 02:10:16

Leiv just makes me drool.... loved the 1st episode and it's on series record so that I can indulge in my filthy fantasies some me time grin

Just watched the first episode. It started off good but swiftly went downhill when he tried to shag the blonde one. I wasn't really feeling him as a character after that.

I'll give it a few more episodes but I imagine it's future on my planner is exactly the same as banshee, relegated to a little pile of episodes on page one which will never be watched.

SlatternismyMiddlename Sat 20-Jul-13 12:37:03

I have it on my planner. Will give it a try later.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 20-Jul-13 13:24:35

Finally watched. Absolutely loved it smile

SlatternismyMiddlename Sun 21-Jul-13 09:51:52

I watched the first one last night. I liked it and will definitely watch more.

I thought Liev was very good although I couldn't work out most of what his wife said - her accent was unintelligible.

I'm looking forward to the next episode, which is always a good sign.

Ellenora5 Sun 21-Jul-13 20:50:33

I liked it, wonder what happened to their mother, looking forward to watching the next one.

Watching now! I'm a bit confused...........

Why is his wife all for letting his dad back in?

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 22-Jul-13 16:20:33

fizzog,i think his wife let his father in as 1) they have been writing to each other and shes been whitewashed and 2) shes done it to piss ray off

True! None of them seem that straight up, but we are meant to like ray?

He's not very likeable is he sad

I'm getting really fed up of all these shows where the main protagonist is a complete dick.... what's wrong with having a likeable lead character?!

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 22-Jul-13 17:01:31

i liked him tho wasnt impressed he snogged the bimbo being stalked

why cant men be faithful hmm

He didn't exactly complain when she gave him a BJ either, despite her stalking his wife hmm

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 24-Jul-13 13:33:29

anyone see last night?

SlatternismyMiddlename Wed 24-Jul-13 15:06:30

I watched it. It was a slower episode than the first but I still liked it. I sometimes feel that we have been dropped into the middle of the story and alot of background knowledge is presumed - I feel like I'm playing catch up. But there isn't anything else like it on at the moment and appreciate it being a bit different.

I've just watched it and I really like it. It's intelligent, different and interesting.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 27-Jul-13 14:27:17

Still liking smile tho complex family

But good storyline

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 30-Jul-13 16:50:44

anyone still watching?

on tonight smile

Filimou Tue 30-Jul-13 20:19:48

looking forward to it. grin grin

SlatternismyMiddlename Tue 30-Jul-13 21:48:29

Sky plus is set smile

leakylills Thu 01-Aug-13 08:20:44

I saw it for the first time last night. Missed the first 2. Can't say I was that impressed. Ray's all too mumbly and taciturn. Not believable. I suppose he doesn't have to be likeable as long as we can respect the fact that he's doing something for good reasons. But he isn't is he? Just self-interested. Maybe I've missed something.. Jon Voight character is ridiculous as are the brothers. As for Elliot Gould what the hell is he meant to be? Will watch again though...

Thurlow Mon 05-Aug-13 14:27:33

I'm loving it. It's still got some teething problems and cramming a bit too much in, and his wife is the most irritating character ever, but I really like it. Plus, on a very shallow note, Ray's hot wink

Ellenora5 Tue 06-Aug-13 14:15:05

I'm enjoying it, I only watched the second one last night, the mother seems a bit flaky, does anyone know what was stapled to the brothers chest after he got the beating, I kept pausing and rewinding but couldn't figure it out. Was the son chatting online to the guy in rehab.

SlatternismyMiddlename Tue 06-Aug-13 18:22:33

Son was chatting online to the actor that was fond of videoing himself providing, ahem, benefits to the transsexual. I don't think Ray is going to be impressed when he finds out.

Wife is very annoying, that accent is terrible.

We didn't see what happened to the half brother's chest.

I like the Lebanese guy, a bit of humour.

filimou Tue 06-Aug-13 18:24:07

ellenora I think he stapled a pic that showed him breaking in to eliot goulds son's home with rays dad. Rays son is messaging the movie star.....

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 06-Aug-13 18:42:29

Yes the pic was of the break in

I think the dad is a stirring shit / why be a getaway driver - plus writing to wife all the time he was inside - knowing that his son ray hates him and wants no contact

Out tonight for dinner with oh so will watch tonight's Tom smile

filimou Tue 06-Aug-13 18:55:14

up all night last night so early night tonight. I'll be watching tonight's tomorrow.

SlatternismyMiddlename Wed 07-Aug-13 22:17:14

Oooooh, I enjoyed that. The father just makes me cringe in embarrassment.

Ellenora5 Thu 08-Aug-13 14:06:29

Oh thanks for that filimou and slattern, couldn't figure it out, I think it's really good, I would imagine as the weeks go on we will find out more of the back story. I like Terry, hope it works out for him and the nurse. I don't know how someone didn't punch Mickey when they were at the self help group, jesus he is such a creep, brilliantly played by Jon Voight though.

Blondeshavemorefun Sat 10-Aug-13 09:10:55

Finally watched

Knew mickey was no good. So he is trying to grass up his son ray and that's how he got early parole

Lighthousekeeping Thu 15-Aug-13 15:02:35

Does anyone know how I can get hold of the second episode? My planner didnt pick it up.

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 15-Aug-13 15:14:03

the bag or the bat, that was funny -try demand

enjoyed this weeks episode, tho shame he shagged that blonde bimbo sad

Lighthousekeeping Sun 18-Aug-13 21:26:59

God he hasn't shagged her again has he? It's not in catch up. It might be but my wifi is down so I would've lost it by now. I'm just watching the last one where she is chained to his bathroom sink. I love that appartment do much more than his house.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 19-Aug-13 14:36:27

Ray slept with her in that episode

And wifey finally susses out that ray isn't sweet and Innocent

filimou Mon 19-Aug-13 19:54:11

I cannot believe he has shagged that woman again?! What is he thinking? She's mad as a sack of cats.....I love lena though....be interesting to see what will happen to FBI man now they know who he is/where he lives.

Oblomov Tue 20-Aug-13 11:48:19

I was very disappointed that he shagged her this week. I am seriously going off him.
he says about 3 words per episode. Not exactly hard learning the lines, is it? grin

filimou Tue 20-Aug-13 16:28:08

I said the same oblomov I really really wanted him not to cheat on his wife. if you're going to be that dark you need one redeeming quality......sad
((feel like a bit of a hypocrite now....let's face it, I so would.... grin ))

filimou Wed 21-Aug-13 13:56:54

Anyone seen this weeks? Going to watch it when DS is in bed.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 21-Aug-13 14:29:12

My planner doesn't pick it up until Saturday. I'm really enjoying it though. Does anyone know if its been signed for a second season.

filimou Wed 21-Aug-13 14:40:48

lighthouse apparently it has been picked up for a second season. grin yay!

Ellenora5 Fri 23-Aug-13 18:48:10

I'm all caught up now, I'm enjoying it but it's a bit hard going sometimes, so Ezra isn't losing the plot then, that's good, I was very excited to see James Wood at the end, he always plays a great baddie. I wonder if nurse is married, I'm hoping that it was her brother and her nephew, I want Terry to be happy smile

filimou Fri 23-Aug-13 19:18:17

Same here ellenora Terry is so sweet.
Really didn't need to see Ezras bum though.

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 23-Aug-13 20:49:40

Yes seen this weeks smile

Hope Terry's girlfriend isn't married sad feel kinda sorry for bunchy - trapped in a life from abuse and struggling with booze yet his father encourages him to drink sad

The LSD effects were funny with his kids toys

Lighthousekeeping Mon 26-Aug-13 17:58:38

I've missed the whole FBI thing can anyone summarise?

The grandad is loathsome isn't he. Jon Voight plays an excellent part. Doesn't anyone ever keep an eye on those teenagers?? Where's the mother all day? We know Ray has to go out to "work"

filimou Tue 27-Aug-13 06:42:38

Basically Mickey did a deal with the FBI to get out early if he gave them Lee, Ezra, Sean and Ray.
Ray is now onto it and so spiked the FBI man's coffee with LSD to give him the scares....
Lord knows what Abby is up to all day (other than yoga grin )

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 27-Aug-13 19:38:44

and then ray tried to blackmail fbi man by recording him on police camera and said would show all unless he stopped harassing them

but fbi told him to shove it up his arse

the hallucinations were funny

Tigresswoods Tue 27-Aug-13 19:41:39

This is an amazing series. We love it but watch through our fingers going "oh no, this won't end well"

More please!

ipswichwitch Tue 27-Aug-13 19:57:06

Does any one else get the feeling that things aren't going to end well for Bunchy? (Also what the hell kinda name is Bunchy?) all that money will probably do him more harm than good, and Mickey is hardly a fabulous influence.

Terry is great though, and I really hope it works out for him (he is English in real life btw)

Lighthousekeeping Tue 27-Aug-13 20:03:59

What's the nurse been in before? It's really bugging me.

filimou Tue 27-Aug-13 20:10:48

lighthouse She was the 'put the lotion in the basket' girl in Silence of the Lambs.
ipswich Bunchy is indeed a rubbish name but I love the character. My heart really bleeds for him sad

ipswichwitch Tue 27-Aug-13 20:52:18

i know filimou, I feel so sorry for him - what hope does he have with a dad like that on top of everything else.
I KNEW she was in Silence of the Lambs!!! (in your face DH!)

filimou Tue 27-Aug-13 21:09:11

Glad I could help ipswich grin
The scene with the prostitute when she morphed into the priest broke my heart for him.
Really liking Terry though....hope the nurse isn't just using him.

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 27-Aug-13 21:19:36

hope its not her hubby/child and brother/nephew etc

Ellenora5 Tue 27-Aug-13 21:31:04

Was the nurse a doctor in greys anatomy, had a relationship with Callie, think her name was Erica.

I don't think Bunchy story is going to end happily either,

Lighthousekeeping Tue 27-Aug-13 21:31:58

Thanks but, I knew she'd been gay in something. I thought it was the L Word but its GreysAnatomy. I love the fact she has a normal shape and doesn't care

Lighthousekeeping Tue 27-Aug-13 21:32:35

Cross post grin I really like her.

filimou Wed 28-Aug-13 10:45:24

I really like her too lighthouse. Going to watch this weeks when DS is in bed tonight.

CeliaFate Wed 28-Aug-13 15:17:36

I love this show, but I wish they had a bit more balance showing Ray's work in covering up Hollywood scandals.
The characters are brilliant, Bunchy is played so well and Jon Voight's character is brilliant too, in a perverse way.
Is Tommy grooming Ray's son do you think?

filimou Wed 28-Aug-13 20:58:50

Just watched this weeks. Definitely getting more interesting......

Tigresswoods Sat 31-Aug-13 21:25:54

Oooh yes it is getting more interesting. Agreed something bad will happen with Ray's son. I wonder where he was taking Marvin at the end of the episode? Back to where he came from?

filimou Sun 01-Sep-13 08:25:30

I bet he'll take him back where he came from.
Finally saw some kind of emotion from Abby too. They do make a good couple but he needs to keep it in his pants angry

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 01-Sep-13 09:46:13

Bunchy is an alcoholic yet his dad is always encouraging him to drink - think he will prob end up dead - either drink or drugs

And ray will prob blame their dad

Need more of ray and sorting out problems - rather then all about his family

SlatternismyMiddlename Sun 01-Sep-13 17:44:27

I'm still really enjoying the series. The last episode was the first one that I didn't want to fast forward any scene with Abby in it.

Lighthousekeeping Sun 01-Sep-13 19:06:49

I also wish it would show more about the actual celeb cover ups. I'm enjoying it but, I'd be lying if I said I understood it!

SlatternismyMiddlename Tue 03-Sep-13 23:16:19

Brilliant episode.

cannotfuckingbelievethis Tue 10-Sep-13 12:20:23

Sunday's episode was the best yet I think. I haven't really like Ray's wife all the way through this series but they do have great chemistry don't they ? I'd also never noticed how tasty Live Schrieber was before...yum...

cannotfuckingbelievethis Tue 10-Sep-13 12:20:43

CeliaFate Tue 10-Sep-13 12:23:41

I really liked the scene with Abi and Ruth getting pissed at lunch then running away. grin

I thought this episode showed Ray rethinking his Dad's character. When he was adamant that his dad had dislocated his sister's shoulders, and his brothers corrected Ray saying it was them. I think now he's put a plan in motion (when he went back to Boston) he may regret it.

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 13-Sep-13 19:54:29

Why is tommy so enticed with choloe?

The dog scene was funny

SlatternismyMiddlename Sat 14-Sep-13 18:37:45

I think the thing with Tommy is that he can't help himself - he tries it on with everyone and he takes whatever is in front of him. There is nothing he says no to.

filimou Sat 14-Sep-13 21:40:33

Just watched this week's.... am shock shock shock shock shock shock shock shock shock shock shock with Mickey!

filimou Sat 14-Sep-13 21:41:13

Though, thought Liev was hot as in the basement.....grin

SlatternismyMiddlename Sat 14-Sep-13 23:32:17

When the series started I could not abide Mickey, he was, and still is, appalling. But as the series has progressed it is more obvious that as creepily awful he is, he loves his family and he would do anything for them.

Blondeshavemorefun Sun 15-Sep-13 08:31:48

As in the dog and car - not wife being strangled with dog lead sad

Understand that mickey is pissed off that ray set him
Up for a murder he didn't do

Deep down I think mickey does care for his sons but isn't good at supporting them ie encouraging bunchy to drink and do drugs

CeliaFate Sun 15-Sep-13 09:04:55

Mickey is a complicated character isn't he? I like how we see different facets of him. He's very childish, inappropriate, crass and just plain weird sometimes (Rosanna Arquette scene was confused) but I think his sense of family loyalty is genuine.
At the end of this week's episode what he did was to protect Ray, I wonder why Mickey was set up for murder. Was he really that bad?

filimou Sun 15-Sep-13 11:13:02

What I didn't get though celia is why leave the pictures? Surely when it's discovered the suspicion will fall on the people in the pictures....unless that was the intent, to set them up the way they did to him shock

CeliaFate Sun 15-Sep-13 11:19:04

Oh I didn't think of that! Good idea. I thought he panicked, then rushed out, because he didn't wipe his fingerprints off anything. I think he'll need Ray's help now to fix it so maybe their relationship will improve, then Sully will appear for the hit and Ray will have to try and stop him.

filimou Sun 15-Sep-13 13:32:39

hmmm. I think we may be onto something celia wink

Lighthousekeeping Sun 15-Sep-13 19:54:38

Oh I keep missing episodes stupid planner. It's all as clear as mud to me. What happened to the nurse? Was she married?

Why did that fella strangle the wife? Is he they father of the girl ray and the film guy killed?

CeliaFate Sun 15-Sep-13 19:58:06

The nurse is married. She came to see Terry with a black eye, he told her they were finished as she was married. Then he went to her house and thumped her husband for hitting a lady.

The fella who strangled his wife is Sully, he's a criminal from their home town. Ray went to Boston to ask Sully to kill Mickey. The wife had told her parents where they were going, so she had to go.

The girl that was shot by Sean (the film guy) was Ray's girlfriend. He was high and shot her by accident with Mickey's gun.

Lighthousekeeping Sun 15-Sep-13 20:03:56

Oh, thank you for that. Even when I get chance to watch it I can hardly make out what he and his wife are saying!

Do we think its going to be better next season? I've enjoyed it but it will have to pick up for me to want to watch it again.

Blondeshavemorefun Mon 16-Sep-13 21:44:33

Nothing quite like the blood splatter over pics

Maybe mickey is trying to set up ray!

cannotfuckingbelievethis Tue 17-Sep-13 20:55:36

Just saw Sunday's episode....I just wanted to give him hug sad

SlatternismyMiddlename Wed 18-Sep-13 21:53:23

Wow, what an episode. I had no idea what was going to happen. Brilliant.

Lighthousekeeping Wed 18-Sep-13 23:58:36

God, I didn't want to give him a hug at all! Was that the last one?

filimou Thu 19-Sep-13 07:10:08

Just seen this week's shock shock
I think lighthouse meant hug bunchy (sorry if I'm wrong). Me too. My heart breaks for him it really does sad

Lighthousekeeping Thu 19-Sep-13 16:18:06

What will the new season bring do you think?

filimou Thu 19-Sep-13 19:33:26

Was thinking that lighthouse.
Maybe it'll show more of his work and be less heavy on his family (I do love them but Abbys incessant 'where you goin ray' 'watcha doin ray' is annoying)
Maybe explore the history with Lee and Ezra after all that was all a bit vague....

CeliaFate Thu 19-Sep-13 22:41:34

Was that the last one? What a finale if so. shock

Blondeshavemorefun Thu 19-Sep-13 23:27:46

Not the end - think 2 more - on next week

filimou Wed 25-Sep-13 20:33:37

Just watched last night's. By far the best episode yet. grin grin

cannotfuckingbelievethis Wed 25-Sep-13 20:40:55

Yes it was great filimou wasn't it. That's the last episode of the first season. Oh to be left alone in a room with lovely Liev....

filimou Wed 25-Sep-13 21:23:09

ahhhh I must be one behind. Still one left..
As for Liev.....get in the queue love! grin grin grin grin

cannotfuckingbelievethis Thu 26-Sep-13 10:08:40

filimou grin Oh, I could do very bad things to him. Quite fancy being handcuffed in his loo like that girl was. Strange I never really noticed him before this.

filimou Thu 26-Sep-13 18:47:45

Ryan ohhhhhhh yes wink grin

SlatternismyMiddlename Thu 26-Sep-13 22:22:24

Just watched the episode with the priest, wow just wow.

Blondeshavemorefun Fri 27-Sep-13 14:34:24

Priest episode was good. Quite thought provoking

One more to go sad

Ellenora5 Mon 30-Sep-13 00:05:23

I'm watching the one with the priest now, I had a few to catch up on, is there only one left after this sad

filimou Tue 01-Oct-13 15:53:09

Finale tonight....

Blondeshavemorefun Tue 01-Oct-13 16:31:54

I'm out tonight galavanting so will watch tomorrow and won't peep on this thread till I have

Assume there will be a 2nd series as too many loose ends for an hour

Lighthousekeeping Wed 02-Oct-13 13:23:02

It's still as clear as mud to me

Lighthousekeeping Wed 02-Oct-13 14:42:14

I can't say I thought it was more than a 6/10. The acting was superb but the writing did nothing for me.

I want the second season to stay away from the family and just be about coveting up scandles. The family got me down too much and it never really flowed.

Blondeshavemorefun Wed 02-Oct-13 19:00:11

seems to have all been tied up rather nicely hmm

fbi gets his man, well dead but gets the credit, mickey sees his family, ray and wife get lovey dovey again

agree next series more actual fixes would be better, rather then family stuff

Lighthousekeeping Thu 03-Oct-13 01:33:24

I know he's gorgeous but the wife must be mad!

cannotfuckingbelievethis Thu 03-Oct-13 22:35:39

I think she's put up with a lot of shit because she's maybe known deep down that there is something else going on with him and a reason for the way he is. She found that out in the episode with the priest...

Ellenora5 Sat 05-Oct-13 16:20:08

I liked the last episode, but I love James Wood so I think it would have been good if he got away and turned up again in the next series, I agree with above I don't want to see too much more of his wife and kids they are a bit of a pain, but all in all I really enjoyed the series and look forward to the next one.
