Of course I'm rooting for Ferrer- Vamos! But would love Del Potato to dowell too,so torn.
Kubot/Janowicz, bit difficult to call really.
Would love Berdych to triumph over Djoko- (then Ferrer can whup him in the semi'sgrin)
Am going for Verdasco- obs, as he's Spanish, and it would be wrong not toogrin - I'm sure Murray is not without support!grin

here's to a limited rain disruption!

Order of Play

It's centre court for me today. Not literally unfortunately but those are the matches are most interested in. I like both Ferrer and Del Potato so don't really mind who wins that one but if I had to pick I'd choose Ferrer. Let's hope it goes to 5 sets so we can have extended ogling time.

Oooh, it's the McEnroe brothers versus Bahrami/Leconte first on Court 3. I may definitely without question have to watch that.

Vamos everyone!

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 08:57:48

Ooooh, just seen that Greg Rusedski is playing in the invitational doubles. You never see him on tv anymore. Thank goodness he doesn't commentate for the BBC (never a fan).

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 09:00:38

Thanks for the order of play Witt, didn't get chance to check mine before my Internet crashed again- grrr. It had better sort it out. Hate mn- ing on the phone!

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 09:04:56

I'm still thinking a strawberry emoticon would be good. Maybe we petition for that next year.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 09:06:06

Player stats

Just seen this on my Facebook feed- worrying stats for Ferrer! Vamos- get your bloody serve serve ingrin

ClayDavis Wed 03-Jul-13 09:08:31

I may have to miss work for that and Murray, Witt. I luffs Bahrami and Laconte.

How's DD2, Raahh. Any sign of the pox yet?

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 09:11:19

No sign of the pox Clay- so hoping it's all a big co-incidence that half the nursery at school have itgrin She doesn't go (too young) but plays with a lot of them when the other two go to breakfast club. Fingers crossed it was just a bit of a temp!

With my luck- she'll get it first week of the summer holsgrin

ClayDavis Wed 03-Jul-13 09:14:42

That's always the way. It's a curse of teaching too. You spend all term avoiding the bugs of snotty, coughing five year olds and then catch them all once term ends. grin.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 09:23:54

Claygrin

When i got it, I'd been back at school for 3 days after a 6 week summer holiday (I was nearly 15), I was off for a further 3 weeksshock - I was very ill, it was dire. My jammy sister had had it in the holiday, and got a total of 6 spots.grin

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 09:26:06

What am I going to do to fill up the next two hours? ignores mess and ironing mountain grin

Suppose i ought to pretend to do something. Back later!

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 09:26:23

COME ON ANDY!!!!

just practicing

From old thread:
"Weather....

Today should stay dry.
Tomorrow maybe the odd spit and spot of rain
Fri on getting warmer and drier. Sunday is looking positively hot. Temps in the mid-high 20s and lots of sunshine."

2pm for the weekend is good smile

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 09:37:57

hope the del potato match goes to five sets so I can catch most of the Murray match at home.
It's a shame they don't give some of the doubles/other games going on the chance to play on centre in between the 2 big ones. to ensure that Murray doesn't start until at least 5.30pm

ClayDavis Wed 03-Jul-13 10:00:19

5.30 would be good. Can cope with missing the first 1/2 hr so 5 would be OK. Failing that, oncology outpatients waiting room has a massive wide screen that always has Wimbledon on it. I wonder if my boss would notice if I disappeared this afternoon...

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 10:09:06

Woohoo men's quarters day!

I missed most of yesterday because of stupid life, so today I am doing a tip run in the morning and then that is it, tennis all the way. tennis

magimedi Wed 03-Jul-13 10:15:58

Bahrami/LeConte are playing the Macs at 11.30 - should be on the red button.

Am SO looking forward to today! Having our main meal at 12.00 so no need to interupt the play for food later on!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 10:21:39

I work directly above the SU bar which has massive screens, I wonder if anyone would notice/care.
We are having loads of building work done at the moment here as it's uni vacation time and my manager did just come in to say that if it gets too noisy we can work from home grin - shame it is all quiet right now.

MirandaWest Wed 03-Jul-13 10:22:38

Just marking my place smile

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 10:34:37

Ahhh, SU barsgrin

Joining in with the Welsh talk from the other thread, I went to a Welsh university, and it is exactly 20 years on Saturday since my graduation. Have only been back once, when 2 of my friends got married in the college chapel the following year. I still miss the place.

I'm sure it will be too noisy, NotaQueef grin

Just flicked channel 992 on and its a still pic saying the McEnroes v Bahrami / Leconte coming next grin

ClayDavis Wed 03-Jul-13 11:30:12

I've seen a couple of people use tennis tennis elsewhere to mean 'balls' and one poster try to work ouy how to use it by typing [balls]. It seems to have got stuck in my head.

Right, 15mins of Bahrami, Laconte and McEnroe before I head off to work.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 11:30:40

Hello!

I watched a bit yesterday but missed all of Monday because I was busy. Feeling poorly today so it is going to be Wimbledon all the way starting with the Macs in a minute!

I would like Ferrer, Murray and Berdych to win, have no preference about the other quarter final.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 11:36:28

Hello Cult tennis
I am back from Nan's....
Thanks to raahh for the sparkly new thread - I bow to thee...

Are we all set for the day then? Got the valium, the vodka, the freeze frame so we can all gorge at Ferrer....

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 11:37:58

I a having to wait for the end of Charley Bear, before dd2 will let e take over the tv for the next 10 hours. Apart from during the school run. And bloody karate <wails>

tennistennistennistennis

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 11:42:16

oh dear- dd2 has just shouted 'tennis not working'grin which is what I tell her when I'm switching channel- 'cbeebies not working'.

It was so much easier to watch when she was small, immobile and didn't voice an opinion. Could have a battle on today. grin

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 11:44:26

She's better then raahh?
Do you have a portable Tv you can stick a dvd or three on for her? Stuff that whole Tv is not a nanny business for today....

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 12:02:02

Oh she's definitely better. sadly, no portable --apart from in ds's room, shoot me--and i can't trust her in theregrinI think I will be able to bribe her before 1.grin

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 12:16:46

Ohhhh, go on, bring it downstairs and pop headphones on her! She'll be in front of it all day and you can have tennis on all day. We won't tell a soul about it, not a soul grin

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 12:33:43

Hi all, very excited - and stupidly nervous! I have my ipad, my phone, the remote control, and barring the sky falling in on me, I am not moving from here.

Well Raahh, glad your dd doesn't have chicken pox - but my dh has shingles! He asked me to look at his back this morning and there was a row of red blotches. He immediately started wittering on about shingles, to which I responded by telling him not to be silly, there was no reason for him to have shingles. Anyway, he went to the doc, and sure enough, shingles it is. I'm ashamed to say when dh told me, my response was "oh no, will you still be able to pick up ds3 from school?" blush

I endured a long lesson about twitter from dd last night (and am none the wiser for it) and sent El Potato a good luck tweet! We all know Ferrer has enough energy to run all day, so I have been out this morning and run 2km and cycled 2km to save El Potato doing it! I've been a tennis fan for years, but don't remember ever feeling quite so, um, partial to a player. Good viewing to us all.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 12:46:00

Hi farley you ar ehere! Hurray! Is the cult complete now then? Just a few stragglers and those poor, poor souls working?
I'm all ready. Jobs for day all done in record breaking time.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 12:49:34

Doesn't shingles make you feel very poorly farley?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 12:52:38

Yes it's painful so I understand. My poor dh has kidney failure, so his immune system is suppressed anyway, and if there's anything going, you can bet he gets it. He really doesn't need this especially as he's in the middle of decorating the front room. I joke - I am full of admiration for him really, his life has been full of adversity and pain and he keeps on going despite everything.

I have a big bowl of berries here, happy to share them with you lot. Did you go to Starbucks/Costa for the smoothies?

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 12:56:29

Oh God, I hope he is okay farley doesn't have too bad a dose of it then. Crikey...
No, no time for the costa experience, I would be there now if I were to have gone so out of the question, I would have missed the start of match. I have instead got bananas and honey yogurt... I will make do. You have to sacrifice some things for the good of other things!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 12:59:36

raaahh I also tell DS that cbeebies is broken when I try and hog the tv blush

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:02:18

Farley - poor dhsad Shingles can be grim.

Ooh- look- they are out on court. Have bribed dd with an ice-pop and teletubbies on the ipadblush needs must

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:03:44

Thanks seize. Admire your self sacrifice re the Costa. You can share my berries.

Bloody Andrew Castle has picked Ferrer to win the match, not that I usually listen to a word he says. But sadly I think he's right.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:04:47

I'm not happy that I will have to miss the middle of thissad. Will put off the school run for as long as possible, and hope I can park.

Vamos Ferrer
Vamos Del Potato

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:06:02

Del Potato's knee looks heavily strappedsad

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 13:06:04

Joining you ladies, minstrels on lap, coffee in hand.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:07:17

I hope its an easy start into it as I am doing my nails with dd's gel stuff, I need steady hands....
I shall remain impartial throughout to respect raahh & farley
Ladies - are you ready....

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:08:30

Thanks Raahh. Yes, his poor knee is well bandaged up. I was googling a bit last night and there are worries about both his wrists apparently, not just the one he's had surgery on.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:08:58

Ferrer's serve has been rubbish so far-that could help Del Potro

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:09:53

Raahh I used to go on school run at the latest possible moment so I could park as others were leaving. This meant I never had to hang in yard with other parents and never had to struggle to park the bloody car either. It was genius - cut school run down from 35 minutes to 15!! The trick is, getting your dc's to accept you will be last in yard.
Welcome happy smile

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:10:02

His wrists? Blimey- they're all falling to bits these tennis players- and he's only 24!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:10:05

I'm ready and raring to go. And, pathetic as it sounds, I am actually nervous! Good job I'll never have to play a match on Centre Court (or any other court for that matter!), my nerves would be crap!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:11:12

Tis underway on red button.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:11:59

Ferrer got the doctor? Oh crap. Even if either of them get through- how good are their chances in the next round?sad

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:12:33

God I love John but if he's going to spend the whole match saying "Del Powtro" I may have to do something drastic.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:12:46

Oh David- don't do this to me.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:13:24

Oh No

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:13:34

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:15:23

I'm crying

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:16:38

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:18:22

I can't see how he can continue, really. I want him to- but i don't want him to fuck up his knee totally.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:19:04

He's going to retire, isn't he? His head in his hands and all.... Gutted, Completely gutted.

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 13:19:17

This is so so sad

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:19:35

Oh God love him.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:19:39

This is one of the saddest things I've seen ever at Wimbledon. Horrible for himsad

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:19:47

he is so talented but is blighted by injuries sad

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:20:01

Oh this is horrible! sad

MirandaWest Wed 03-Jul-13 13:20:09

Oh poor him sad

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:20:23

He's not going to retire? How will he play properly? I will be wincing all the way through now.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:20:33

How long do we think he will last then?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:20:38

Oh no, don't do it Juan.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:21:21

I do feel for Ferrer as well.

DevlinMaccabee Wed 03-Jul-13 13:21:26

Poor Del Potro! Well done for getting back up!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:21:38

He can't go on can he.

Poor poor man.

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 13:22:01

To his enormous credit, he is trying. But how scared must he be of stretching? I cannot see how he can continue to play on let alone play competitively.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:22:13

Oh God he is clearly in pain, I'm not sure he will get to the end of the set sad

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:22:21

I'm rooting for him now to win.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:22:35

i really don't think he should continue- if it gets worse, it might put him out of the US as well, and lord knows what else.

ceebeegeebies Wed 03-Jul-13 13:23:04

How is Del Potro only 24??? He seems to have been around for ages!! I think he needs to call it quits now tbh sad

If he does, does that mean Mr Murray will be on soon (silver lining and all that wink)

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 13:23:06

I think he's making a mistake... If he really fucks his knee up, that's the rest of his career gone!

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 13:23:25

I think he will test out his serve, and then retire. So sad for him.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:24:23

God how must his parents feel if they saw that? You'd just want to grab him and hug him wouldn't you. If I was his Mum I'd say "It's all right love, you go and sit down, I'll play for you".

This is shit.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:24:58

That's the thing isn't - the long game - it could be career ending if he wrecks it any more.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:26:20

Ferrer must feel a bit torn - on the one hand he knows he doesn't have to do much to win, but on the other hand he doesn't want to take the piss and run him ragged

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:26:56

Gutted. Awful for Ferrer to play against him- how do you deal with that? Not the way I wanted him to win, hopefully Del Potro will give himself chance to recover properly after this. his serve is a huge weapon- i hope it doesn't let him down.

It's not going to be a 5-settersad.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:27:27

I feel so sad... He's limping.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:28:11

Yay! a game on the board.

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:28:30

Can someone tell me what happened? I was putting the baby down for a nap and missed the first game.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:29:27

NotAQueef-- you only have to look at how Nadal's knee problems have affected his career, to see it could end up cutting his career short. Not worth the risk, surely.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:31:28

Oh El Potato, well done. And how lovely is Ferrer, applauding him.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:31:42

well- he's got a break! That can only boost his confidence.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 13:32:41

sad as I said, I think it's a mistake for Del Potro to continue...
Mustn't be easy for Ferrer to play against him now...

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:33:05

who the eff is Del Pocho? (McEnroe just said it)

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:33:30

witt Potato fell over very badly and hurt his already hurt knee. It was terrible to watch, Had doc on and he's playing on.... Sigh, he's so brave... Like a super hero!

Ferrer is also lush!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:34:00

Whatever the doc gave him - I want some.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:34:34

I totally agree Raahh and that would be far sadder than retiring in a Wimbledon QF.

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:35:21

Poor Del Potro sad Really hard for both of them I imagine as Ferrer won't want to take advantage because of it.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:35:52

Farlry smile

maybe it was calpol <eyes dd and her speedy recovery>

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:37:45

I can just hear his mum shouting "stop it now, stop it, come off there this minute". I soo think he should retire - as you've all been saying, it's all about the long game.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 13:38:05

Farley I want some too! Been in agony for the last 5days with a bad back...

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:39:40

As a professional tennis player though you have to take advantage of these situations surely?

It doesn't make you a bad person, and doesn't have to be something you want to do but to win a slam you have to use every advantage thrown your way. That's what being a true professional is about.

Ferrer should have him running all over the court, no mercy and if he doesn't then Ferrer does not deserve to win Wimbledon.

I doubt Del Potro will be happy if he thinks Ferrer is going soft on him, it's kind of insulting really.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 13:40:16

Really hard for Ferrer to play against, because he will have to fight down any sympathy and push balls to the corners as usual.

How horrible for them both sad

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:40:34

I'm sure as the minutes tick by and the direct memory of the falls fades, we'll see lots of drop shots from Ferrer

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:41:31

I agree with jaq. And I'm not surprised del potato won't retire - this is worth thousands to him right now. This could be the zenith of his career anyway (unlikely but it could) so if course he's desperate for a shot at the semi of a grand slam.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:41:41

Odd though it sounds - if it was Haas for example, coming the end of his career really, you might risk it. But at 24? No.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:41:53

Lots of talk last night (when I was doing my extensive googling research) about how his career has been plagued by injury, and some tennis pundits questioning his long term career due to wrist injuries - and now knees it seems.

shock - John just said "bummer" on the beeb. He'll get his bottom smacked for that.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:43:23

Chub- he's already won a slam, so it's not like this is his big break. It's huge, obviously (and i know we like to think Wimbledon is the only slam that countswink) but it really isn't worth the risk.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:43:46

seriously McEnroe needs to learn to speak, his name is not frikking Del Poe Choe

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:43:58

A losing semi finalist gets 400,000. The losing quarter finalist gets 205,000. I'd risk my knee for 195,000.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 13:44:26

Oh god! Novak stretched his knee too sad

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:45:20

Aw Chub - you wouldn't really would you? If you were only 24?

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:45:24

I don't think it's the only slam that counts. It's four years since he won a slam though.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:45:31

chub -really??

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:45:52

Course I would. And apparently so would he.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:46:11

Really to which bit?

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:47:21

Did he? Djok is injured?

Super (obviously mean him no actual harm but in the context of wimbledon, good)

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:47:24

to taking £195,000 over the possibility of ending your career.

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:48:34

At this level, they make more money from sponsorship deals so he doesn't need to keep going for the money. I think he should retire rather than risk further injury.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:48:35

It's been four years because he's been injury stricken. My "really" was would you really risk your knee for £195000? In the grand scheme it's not that much money for a short term gain.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:48:52

I think Ferrer is very rattled- but he's a master of the 5 set match.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:49:11

Well, this has really been the most amazing Wimbledon. Who'd have thought half an hour ago, El Pot would have two breaks?

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:49:11

I think Del Potro is putting it all out there in the hope he can win it in 3.

Ferrer is doing himself no favours at the moment.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:49:56

oh FFS I just want to be at home watching this.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:50:13

It wouldn't be the end though, it's a risk of it being the end. He'd get a position on the board of some sports thingy or another, he's got five or ten years left in this sport at best anyway. It's not a long career so I don't blame him for carrying on. He could quite conceivably never make the quarters of a GS again. It will happen to all of them one day. Nadal must have been having problems but he still came to wimbledon. They capitalise on the moment.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:50:17

And I've always liked Ferrer, but my admiration for him has increased during this match. And, there's no doubt, he'll hang on in there.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:50:40

How's Djok getting on anyone?

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:50:54

Jac No- Ferrer is definitely proving the rotten first serve statistic right.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:51:22

What do we think then? Is he okay or is Ferrer playing timidly because of the injury? If Ferrer gets properly going, Potato might hurt himself again?
I don't know what to think really.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:51:24

If he's had four years of injury all the more reason to assume its not going to get any better, and press on.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:51:45

Did somebody say Djok is injured?

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:53:12

Can someone tell McEnroe to say Juan instead of Del Pocho.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:53:20

I don't think Ferrer is playing timidly, I think he's a bit shaken and playing badly- at least by his standards.

Whilst Del Po's serve hold's up, anything could happen.

ceebeegeebies Wed 03-Jul-13 13:54:06

Must remember to collect DS1 from school...please can someone remind me in an hour grin

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:54:11

McEnroe needs to stop saying Del Pot Cho, or Del Porcho or any other variation of the poor mans name!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:54:52

Witt I hear ya! I have moaned about it up thread already - I might also have tweeted BBC sport to have a word with McEnroe

"DEL POE CHOE"

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:03

Just flicked and Djoko match is still on serve

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:04

What a first set well done Del Potro!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:07

Yes Chub, I see where you're coming from, but call me naive - maybe it's not all just about the money for him? Maybe he wants to prolong his actual playing career for as long as possible? In which case he should call it a day today IMO.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:10

Potato is certainly giving ferret the run around.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:37

cbee I've set the alert on my phoneblush
Well done- del potato!!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:42

Oh well done Juan, you're mum will be so proud of you, but scared too.

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 13:55:42

Why can't they just leave a match in one place - is there a need to keep moving it ?

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:56:16

Well no it's not just about the money, he's in the quarters and wants to press on while its his moment. Don't blame him.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:56:31

Maybe Mac could just call him Del Potato.

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:56:39

Oh who do I need to tweet NotAQueef? Maybe if we all tweet they'll listen to us.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:56:44

Stila- it's frustrating, isn't it.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 13:56:51

They should just call them potato and ferret.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 13:56:52

Bloody hell, red button, BBC2, BBC1 where the feck next!

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 13:57:17

If they called him El Potato on Tv I would quite literally wet myself laughing.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 13:57:57

i think he's prefer Del Potato to some of the stupid things mac is calling himgrin

Oh David- he's really flustered.

Vamos both of you!

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 13:58:23

Can someone nag me to stop watching this and go pack please? I need to drive over to PIL's house in an hour and at this rate I'm going to run around like a headless chicken at 2:55pm and forget something critical.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 13:58:30

Djokovic nearly over extended his knee... But he stood up and kept playing. Really fighting for each point...

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 13:59:59

Not sure I tweeted @bbcsport and used the hashtag #wimbledon.
I've just tweeted @McEnroeTweets too grin

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:01:06

Ignore that I am an idiot that was not mcenroe's really twitter name

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:02:00

I'm beginning to wish I could tweet- I've had an account for years, and still not got to grips with it.

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 14:02:35

Del Potato looks like Zachary Quinto!!! I was wondering why I kept thinking Star Trek every time I saw him!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:03:17

Witt GO AND PACK!!
<chucks tennis>

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 14:05:06

Ok <sigh>

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:06:07

I had a long lesson last night Raahh, but if I did learn anything, I've already forgotten.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:07:00

Is that Mrs Ferrer in the blue top and big glasses?

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 14:07:32

Surely if you were sat in a box with someone and the other person kept saying Del Poe Choe wouldn't say ' I think its actually DEL POTRO'

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:07:43

Farley- I just don't get it. At all.

DD2 has just shoved a garlic clove in my mouth. I thought it was a grape. <boak>

must supervise child better

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:08:45

I've just figured it out really. Getting stupidly excited as some people I have never met have re-tweeted my posts and 'favourited' them.
This is what I wrote. I

Hey @McEnroeTweets It's Del Potro NOT Del poe cho. Frankly I'd be happy with Del Potato.

18m: @BBCSport Please can you let McEnroe that it is Del Potro not Del Poe Choe #wimbledon

Just wondering if the banging that's going on outside my office constitutes too much noise?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:09:22

Pace of that shot.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:10:02

HAHAHAHA at your DD raaahhh

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:10:12

at least it wasn't poo

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:10:53

Queef - I can hear that banging from here, get yourself home pronto.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:10:55

Definitely, not- !

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:12:43

farley well in that case .... only I don't have my key with me idiot and dp who also works at the same campus is not really talking to me so think am marooned here.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:14:29

Oh this is ridiculous.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 14:14:31

Berdych looks knackered already. Terminator looks like he's just gone for a gentle stroll around the park.

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 14:14:42

WTF !!! back to 2

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:14:53

Oh ffs- stop switching channels!!

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 14:14:57

It's fucking moving AGAIN!!!!!!

Jesus fecking Christ Sue, sort it out...and give McEnroe a slap whilst you're at it.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:15:16

The channel changing that is.

Queef - I think watching tennis constitutes special circumstances, so you have my permission to break in to your house. Why isn't your dp talking to you?

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 14:15:53

Djoko is on both channels what is going on!!!!!

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 14:16:08

Well done Djokovic! smile

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:16:43

It's now on 2! make your bloody minds up.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 14:17:13

I think Sue should refer to McEnroe as Mac-Ron-Poe form now on just to teach him a lesson.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:17:38

We are just arguing a lot at the moment! But over stupid things, more like extreme bickering - fun times chez queef.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:17:47

I know he's moving well, but is it just me, or does he have a bit of a pained look on his face?

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 14:17:54

I will need new remote batteries at this rate.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:20:23

I've just seen that MNtowers have tweeted a link to this thread re farley crying with the hashtag #overinvolved lol

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:20:41

Oh dear Queef. Think we all go through periods like that though, sometimes dh can't open his mouth without me thinking to myself "oh just shut up". Hope it gets better for you soon.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:21:20

pmsl @ Mc-Ron-Poe

or MC-CORN-Row

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 14:21:42

Arghhh! I live paused the tennis to do some work, and they have switched the channels countless times! How bloody annoying. Sort it out, Sue. Now on track with the live play.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:22:03

thanks! smile

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:24:13

Vamos- everyone!

Hopefully the drugs will last a while to get him through.

The winner will probably play Djoko...

Startail Wed 03-Jul-13 14:24:24

I can only assume the channel hopping is to stop you recording it.

It's absolutely unnecessary and very very annoying.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:24:32

Huh? Over-involved? Crying is nothing compared to what I'll do if he wins!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:24:48

overinvolved!!!!!!

cheeky buggars!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:25:01

buggers even

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:26:20

grin

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:26:37

Ferrer!!! Vamos !!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:27:07

who plays the winner of del potato and ferrer?

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:28:07

Djoko or Berdych.

So, Djoko probablygrin

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:28:46

Right- they'd better not change channels- I've lost the remote!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:29:40

Wow! If he can't last the match it'll be a crying shame, I've rarely seen him playing so well.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:29:56

Oh well in that case - Ferrer can win. Was hoping for a crocked DP against Murray in the SF

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:31:50

Could be Verdasco, Not- Murray hasn't won it yet!

Witt Wed 03-Jul-13 14:32:18

I panicked because when I came downstairs it was showing Djoko/Berdych and I couldn't find the Ferrer/Del Pocho match and I thought maybe Del Potro had retired.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:32:39

Although berdych is 3-0 up in the second set, so who knowsgrin

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:32:57

<sticks fingers in ears la la la la>

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:33:35

Bloody hell- who'd a thunk it!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:34:05

Vamos all aroundgrin

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 14:34:31

I thought Sue had come to tell us they were moving channels AGAIN !

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:36:27

Wow - did not expect that an hour ago!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:38:05

I can still taste garlic. angry

I'm going to have to go soon....

It might even be over by then!

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 14:40:48

I'm going to stop watching djok my dislike seems to spur him on.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:40:55

Don't go Raahh, kids will be fine until the match has ended. smile

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:41:19

Just switched over (because my nerves can't take it happy for Del Potato, but sad for Ferrer)- Djoko is breaking back...

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 14:43:35

Farley- every other day this week, they have clubs til 4- except todaysad

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 14:47:32

Are we all being idiots and Mac-ron-poe is actually a genius who is the only one pronouncing Del Potro correctly. If not then why the hell has no one corrected him...Even the bloody umpire says Potro.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 14:49:31

What's happening with Ferrer???!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:52:10

I'm pretty sure - I studied spanish for 6 years - though Argentinian pronounciation is slighlty different. eg the word 'key' is llave in Spanish and is pronounced yah-vay (sort of) but in Argentian spanish it's more like xcha-vay (I am no good with phonetic typing)

I would have thought that every other commentator in the world expect McEnroe is unlikely to be wrong.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 14:54:21

DP has just called to say that we have have to take a detour to his DGM's on the way home as her TV is broken and she wants to watch the
Murray match angry I think MY Murray watching requirements trump those of the elderly and inferm - surely?

<disclaimer every other time her TV has been 'broken' DP has 'fixed it' - ie plugged it back in properly within a minute>

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:56:30

Well at least he's talking to you Queef!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 14:59:58

How can they measure how far they've run?

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 15:00:27

I have visitors tennis crying..... I miss you all. I cant hear tv...

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 15:04:33

Did I hear him say Del Poe TRO ? a slip of the tongue or has someone had a word ?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:06:07

Wondered where you were seize, whatever did you open the door for?!

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 15:09:55

Nooooooo! Can't watch!:'(

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 15:10:08

sieze Why oh why did you answer the door?

hugoagogo Wed 03-Jul-13 15:13:15

Good on del potro, I whizzed around asda at warp speed in order to not miss too much of the Murray match, imagine my surprise when I get home to see them still playing.

It must have been that 6+ calpol it is good stuff grin

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 15:17:26

Argh - Mac is doing my head in now with his 'Poe-choe'!

Djockovic is nearly through. Bum.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 15:19:19

Alibabaandthe40nappies why is it bad that Djokovic is through?

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 15:22:57

Make them go away sieze.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 15:23:49

Murray can beat djok. Would prefer an easier ride for him but he can do it.

Just two rather significant obstacles in the way first...,

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 15:24:00

Sieze can you fake a very sudden onset of D&V and shoo them out the door?

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 15:24:43

I think that IF Murray and Djock meet in the final it will be an epic match. fingers crossed it works out that way.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 15:25:15

Because I don't like him, he always seems so sour and grumpy on court. And he plays dull tennis, IMO.

I have sent DH to do the school run and he has taken DS2 with him, so I am alone with the TV, MN and a cup of tea. smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 15:27:54

Wow what a point!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 15:27:57

WOWOWOWOWOW!!!

hugoagogo Wed 03-Jul-13 15:28:01

Bloody brilliant grin

Wow!!!!!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 15:28:18

tennis tennis tennis

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 15:29:11

WELL DONE POTATO

thats why he shouldn't have retired. Ferret lacked killer instinct to kick him when he was down.

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 15:30:01

grin

fingers crossed he doesn't fall apart before Friday

Am I the only Novak lover?

I think he very cute. He looks kind and gentle.

Nice skin, nice teeth, nice hair.

I like the thigh shots the camera does now and again!!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:33:20

Got home just in time for both matches to end- Well done Potato!

If it's a Djoko/Murray final, I'm not fussed who wins, which makes it much easier to watch a final.

Hope Del Potato can get some miracle glue on his knee tomorrow.

BBMs Wed 03-Jul-13 15:33:29

Happy to see Djokovic win but sad to see Ferrer go...

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:34:31

Never mind Juan being happy - what about me?! So so pleased, really thought Ferrer would out-last him!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:35:14

I'm very sad to see Ferrer lose, but he's had a brilliant summer so far- final at RG and up to 3 in the world. Vamos David!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:36:02

No I like Djok too Madame, I just like El Potato a whole lot more!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:37:00

Yes, Ferrer didn't do himself justice I don't think. Who knows how heavy El Potato's knee injury was weighing on him (Ferrer)? Plus he's had his own injuries with his toe etc.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:37:46

Farley - I was trying to listen to the commentary in the car - they were saying Ferrer looked questionable before the match- he went on the practice court- then walked straight off. But definitely not to minimise Del Potato's win- bloody marvelous game, his shots were great.

Over involved, huh, MNHQ? Well, yes!!grin

tennistennis

What is Boris wearing?

I always think he standing next to Tim thinking 'what are you saying you tosser?'

Don't know why?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:39:35

Yeah, we're involved and proud!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:39:55

Oops, over-involved, not just involved.

Glad to hear it FarleyD.

He is mine though.

I am sad that I want the most attractive man to win over a country man!!!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:40:50

I might watch Janowicz/Kubot- I feel a bit sorry for them. And the crowd on no1 look dis-interested. sad

noddyholder Wed 03-Jul-13 15:40:57

Gutted for Ferrer not keen on Mr Potato. Don't think Murray will have it easy but will probably win. Djokovic looks on fire. Maybe one of the polish guys will pull a big upset

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:43:31

i won't fight you for him Madame, I'm El Potato all the way! So, I too, am being disloyal in a way, but I'm sure Andy has more than enough supporters. I do like him, but not as much as El Pot.

Noddy, I'm ignoring you! smile

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 15:45:06

I can't watch andy. Too tense.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:45:37

seize - your visitors are overstaying their welcome!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:46:49

Oh go on Chub, you can do it! I came through El Potato's match! And, careful what you say, or else MN will accuse you of being "over-involved"!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:47:03

I've never understood the need to support the home player at all costs. I never have, not Tim,Rusedski Andrew Castle grin there's always been someone better/more interesting to watch. It's about the sport, surely, not the nationality.

I've still got a Spaniard to lust afterwink - though Verdasco is slightly greasy with his hair slicked back. It's better ruffled up.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:48:41

And didn't we play nice, Farley- during the Ferrer/Potato matchgrin. Jolly good sports.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:49:45

Yes, we are good girls Raahh, no unsportsmanlike conduct here.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:50:23

Bloody hell- the stands are nearly empty on number1!angry

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:51:46

I've never been a particularly big fan of British tennis players, mainly because they were always outclassed (in my very unknowledgeable eyes) by players of other nationalities. But I do like Andy, because he is properly talented, attitude and technique wise I think.

3littlefrogs Wed 03-Jul-13 15:52:58

Isn't it a shame? Andy Murray is playing and the court is more than half empty. sad

Is it because no-one can afford tickets any more?

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 15:55:45

I think they are empty because there has been such a quick turn around between matches and people have gone for comfort breaks etc.
wish I was there!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 15:56:11

They've probably all gone off for sustenance after first match, or else it's all corporate seating. Can't imagine why the sustenance seekers haven't rushed back though.

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 15:56:37

I would imagine that lots of people have gone for a wee, frogs. Queues for the loo, and maybe then a queue for a hot drink. They will be back, I hope smile

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 15:56:56

I'm not supporting the home player at all costs. I really, really rate him.

Lilymaid Wed 03-Jul-13 15:59:01

Right I'm switching the sound off. Would like Murray to win but just can't take the usual commentary we get with any Brit hopeful

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Wed 03-Jul-13 15:59:03

Raahh

Farley - I was trying to listen to the commentary in the car - they were saying Ferrer looked questionable before the match- he went on the practice court- then walked straight off. But definitely not to minimise Del Potato's win- bloody marvelous game, his shots were great.

Over involved, huh, MNHQ? Well, yes!!grin

tennistennis

Twas but a jest. grin

We're DESPERATELY over-involved at MNHQ...

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 15:59:19

3frogs- they are probably queuing to get back in- whereas i sense the empty court 1 might stay a bit like thatsad

<rounds up some Polish supporters>

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:00:11

<waves at Helen>

I knowgrin We are over-involved. I'm almost glued to my sofa!grin

MirandaWest Wed 03-Jul-13 16:01:32

Am sitting in front of the television (mainly as DD has comemdeered the computer to do Rainbow Magic hmm) and just watching. Is good smile

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:01:40

Oh i know Helen, am not in the least offended, think it's funny. And it is rather ridiculous when you think of a bunch of women who are old enough to know better (well, I speak for myself at least) getting all stupid over a bunch of ball hitters who neither know nor care that we know and care! Something like that anyway!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:02:36

I'm over involved . I cried when Nadal went out- and have been stressed ever sinceblush

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:02:48

Helen - If MNHQ ever get offered corporate seats will you promise to remember us over-involved people?! smile

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:03:37

<I've never had an MNHQ blue box moment before>
grin

<has arrived. after 7 years>

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:04:06

There should be an MN stand. Child-free, though. <mean>

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:05:19

What did we do to deserve Andrew Castle commentating on the Murray match?

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 16:06:22

Helen - Whilst you're here can I put in a request for a web chat with McEnroe so that we can give him a jolly good telling off for his pronunciation of our beloved Del Potro!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:06:38

grin

He's a twat, Castle, as we have previously established.

But can he pronounce their names?

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 16:07:33

No I've tried to watch its too close. Don't like.

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:09:42

I simply cannot stand him, Raaah. He is stopping me enjoying the match. I think his career low was touting for a job for Kim Sears, on live television, after she graduated. Without her asking him to.

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:12:38

Bloody Boris is driving me mad too. Why can't we have the passionate, informed, understated Sam Smith commentating on this match? Why not? Because she is a woman? Grrrr.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:13:14

I know we had this discussion on one of the earlier threads, but I'm amazed by how many good Spanish players there are. I'm thinking of sending my dc to boarding school over there ...

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:13:54

Happy- he is useless at commentating. And repeats himself. A lot. Because he is useless.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:14:24

Did you listen to John Mcenroe on the Ferre/Del Potro match Happy. He'd better not walk down any dark alleys alone tonight for fear of irrate MN-netters ambushing him for his criminal pronounciation!

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:15:38

Farley, I get you! I feel the same. Not that I think DS1 would fare well. He seems to have inherited my complete lack of hand/eye co-ordination. He would make a good umpire though. He is a very officious 5 yo.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 16:15:42

Castle is a nightmare. He ruined that charity thing at Queens by being so cringeworthy.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:15:47

I know <repeats self like Castle> - the Spanish have 9 players in the top 50. We don't even have that in the top 300!

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:16:08

God above - visitors still here. I have ceased all pretense that I care anymore and have turned Tv up.... Its utterly unfair of them to all show up int his manner - its quarter finals day for the men.... Fuckers.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 16:16:45

sieze who are they, can you not turf them out?

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:16:57

Mac's pronunciation rivalled Greg Rusedski's! Shocking. But at least what Mac is saying is actually sense. Unlike Castle.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 16:18:33

my six year old doesn't have tennis lessons. Oh no.

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:19:13

Seize, I am appalled on your behalf. Such rudeness from them. Do they have no awareness of the importance of the day and the match to you? I cannot comprehend how they could do this to you.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:19:22

Potato win:
Well done farley
Raahh Commiserations.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:21:22

thanks sieze- he didn't play well at all, so it wasn't a surprise. Del Potato played extremely well. I hope he can keep it up.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:21:43

I can't because they came to do dd's makeup and so on for her prom - I like them, I really do but its tennis for the love of all that is Holy - I have a 6 month old here as well. Between the sheep that baa's and the rattle that, well, rattles.... Argh...
I am back online now though and Tv is up and I do not care anymore. I really do not. Tough luck. They want to stay to see dd off? They have to watch tennis, end of.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:23:43

It's 5-5 in the Kubot/Jan match. Some very fast serves. Pity nobody is watching.

I need to know the Polish for 'Go....' they need cheering on. The crowd are sparse, and almost silent.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:24:07

And as i said that Kubot has a break point...

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:24:58

It would have been nice to have seen it though raahh Next year I am perhaps booking a hotel for 2 weeks grin

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:25:01

They are staying? Hope the prom is soon, sieze

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:28:27

So Janovicz has broken, serving for the set.

(I know none of you are listeninggrin)

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:30:36

Ah, the prom - I have to take dd to friends house at 5.45 and its expected I remain there for the hour with the other parents before the kids all leave. Humph. I am taking my phone set up to Mn and this thread so will be the antisocial cow in the corner on her phone for the entire hour grin

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:32:38

Bloody hell seize, you are having a shocker during these quarters

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:33:58

Owoooooooowwww.

Oh yes. We def need a box next year.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:34:08

Win the next set Murray - come on!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:34:20

Janowicz took the first set.

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 16:35:11

[sob] Come on Murray

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:35:19

Its not fair happy Its not. And before long I am going to flounce off and do a huge sulk grin

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:35:36

Vamos Verdasco!

Well done. There may yet be a Spaniard in the finalwink

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:37:20

i wouldn't want to be at the other side of the court when Janowicz is serving. He's scary.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:38:08

Oh seize, what a shit day for you. Next year we will all convene somewhere without children, visitors, meals to make, housework to do and work to go to, and with unlimited alcohol, tennis, chocolate/strawberries and tv screens.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:38:43

Farley-i like the sound of that. grin

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:39:59

I swear Boris is getting harder to understand, or perhaps I'm just getting older.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:42:21

Verdasco is a pretty handy server too - quite a few in the 130's.

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 16:44:11

Yes!!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:44:35

the dc's are demanding food before karate- i mean, wtf!!grin

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:46:44

So unreasonable, I mean you've already picked them up from school, what more do they want?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 16:48:49

Verdasco's quiff is holding up well smile

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:49:24

Raahh, Could they have a few bags of crisps each?

Chub, how are you doing?!

Seize, if you are flouncing(not that I want you to), please would you take Andrew Castle with you as he is seriously doing my head in. smile

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 16:49:37

Right am home now. Settling in for the Murray match.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:49:42

farley I am in...
I am in kitchen alone cooking up snacks now. Tv on in here, its quiet and I can concentrate. Its not that I am ungrateful for them coming up to do this and dd is happy for the attention but boy, bad timing.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:49:54

Exactly- could have left them there til Monday

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:50:21

He has a huge amount of hair, doesn't he! I am really envious. Not of the grease though.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:51:03

Happy- i have flung fish fingers at the oven and hope i remember to take them out before they are cremated. I will probably end up with garden peas like bulletsgrin

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:53:05

Happy- the grease is off putting.

I was googling a picture to show he looks better without and -oh my!
parental advisory

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 16:53:49

He's not hairy all overgrin

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 16:56:19

Oh am glad you mentioned his hair - its horrible. I want to give him a good shampoo.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 16:56:52

sad c'mon murray!

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 16:56:54

Christ almighty! I have no words! Waxed, surely?!

Startail Wed 03-Jul-13 16:57:20

DDs also demanding food and almost an hours taxi duty.
Most unhelpful

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:00:42

Who is this guy and what has he done with andy?

hugoagogo Wed 03-Jul-13 17:01:31

I'm not liking this

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:01:44

Fuuuuuuuuuck

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:01:59

Oooh la la that link bought me out of my silence grin

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:02:15

Ds just saw my bottom lip out sad face and come and patted me on the back

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:03:49

COME ON ANDY!!!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:04:02

Yesssss! What a point

WOOF!!

OMG ladies click that link.blush

I am having a shite day and that has at least stirred a positive emotion!!!

Fernando indeed!!!! blushblush

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 17:04:13

God, that took about 10 years off my life.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:05:05

Naked tennis anyone? grin

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 17:05:40

Scrubs up well don't he?

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:06:00

I feel miserable. Really miserable. Come on Murray!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:06:01

He just needs some momentum. Seems to have lost his power

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:07:27

Seems to be playing passively like in years gone by

Gawd.

Missed nearly the whole game oooogling sexy spaniard!!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:08:10

Why is he doing those silly floaty shots

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:08:21

Bloody Wednesdays. Last Wednesday was a bad day as well.

highlandcoo Wed 03-Jul-13 17:08:30

shit shit shit!!!

Naked tennis indeed!!!

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 17:08:50

What are you doing indeed Andy.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:09:30

sad

LadyBryan Wed 03-Jul-13 17:09:51

Wow Murray needs to get a grip - return of the temperament extraordinaire....

Oh Murray. Pull yourself together.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:10:13

I can't stand this Murray has lost all his umph.

He can't possibly win 3 sets in a row if he continues to play like this sad

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 17:10:31

Mn went off! Was it the nekkid spaniard? shock

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:10:42

I feel an epic come back. I want to see him really put some positive emotion into this, get the crowd into it

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 17:10:56

Bloody hell. I need to go out - I can't now. C'mon Andy.

Alibabaandthe40nappies Wed 03-Jul-13 17:11:04

Fuck me he's going to lose!

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 17:11:33

What is going on here? Andy is MIA.

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:11:34

He has come from 2 sets down a few times at wimbo.

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 17:11:42

Don't say that Alibaba

LadyBryan Wed 03-Jul-13 17:13:11

His frame of mind is all over the shop, swearing, shouting.

Just like he used to be a couple of years ago. I thought he'd matured out of that actually.

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:13:37

Maybe just as well I have to go out. I can't bear this really. Grease monkey can not win.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 17:13:41

Do you think his hip or back or something is troubling him? He seems to be moving well enough though.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 17:14:23

Lendl will lock him in the cellar and give him bread and water rations if he doesn't get it together.

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 17:14:33

Oh no ............ I'll be gutted if this means no more Lendl !

Raahh love that pic .... reminds me of that Tsonga one grin

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:14:54

Hopefully he has had a blip and has the maturity that was lacking in his earlier years to fight on through and back into it.

Startail Wed 03-Jul-13 17:15:16

Oh come on Murry!

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 17:15:27

Stila- think it's from the same charity shoot.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 17:16:25

Lady- it's the very reason I've never enoyed watching him play. Very poor show when losing.

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 17:16:30

What's worse do you think? Having the weight of the crowd's expectation, or having no one in the crowd cheering you on?

FarleyD Wed 03-Jul-13 17:16:50

Think I'd rather have no one cheering me on, less pressure.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:18:06

Come on Murray!!

Stila Wed 03-Jul-13 17:18:20

Yes looks like Raahh ....... just looking at the sexiest men in tennis that that pic links through to grin

LadyBryan Wed 03-Jul-13 17:19:20

farley - I honestly don't know. I guess its probably 50/50 - some players prefer to have the noise and the support, others find it difficult.

Raahh - you're absolutely correct. Bad sportsman at times I think. Which is sad because a lot of the time he seems a nice guy!

HappyAsEyeAm Wed 03-Jul-13 17:20:13

Leaving you ladies for a while. I am live pausing the bbc1 action, and recording the bbc2 programme which starts at 6pm. That way, I shouldn't miss anything. The DC are too small (5 and 1) for me to send to karate or a prom, unfortunately smile

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:20:53

I would rather no crowd behind me also. I always thought it a huge burden for Henman and Murray to have such a weight on their shoulders each Wimbledon. Plus I am the belligerent sort - I would thrive on the crowd willing me to loose, it would make me want to win harder.

Guests have got snacks - I am hiding in kitchen behind a tea towel.

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 17:22:39

I think he might be back. Also think he needs the crowd. Am hoarse from yelling at the screen.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 17:23:53

Gahhhhhhhh! My family keep wanting to talkto me.

If you want no atmosphere- pity the poor sods on court one- it's barely full, and all they can hear is mutterings from Centre!

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:25:30

Murray really needs to win this set convincingly and get some belief back!

NotAQueef Wed 03-Jul-13 17:27:07

You can do it Andy!!

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:27:14

I have to go in 15 mins. Please will you keep this thread updated on score? I will be driving for a while and then okay to use phone.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 17:28:10

I think there needs to be at least 1 5 set match in the quarters. I don't think it's going to be the Kubot/janowicz one though.

JaquelineHyde Wed 03-Jul-13 17:29:04

Will do sieze, although I do get rather absorbed in the action which is why I keep going quiet. With all the others chipping in I'm sure we can keep a good running commentary going.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 17:30:13

MY MOBILE DIED AND I WAS AT WORK

OH MY GOD THE STRESS

I have caused this. White queen style I bargained for serena's demise with andys and it is coming true. Aaaaaarrrgghh

CatsAndTheirPizza Wed 03-Jul-13 17:30:55

I think he'll do it now - his conviction is back and his eyes have changed

siezethenight Wed 03-Jul-13 17:31:19

Oh thankyou guys... Really, thank you.

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 17:32:03

My children are also having an orange tea

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 17:33:24

Oh thank god.

Raahh Wed 03-Jul-13 17:33:26

Chub- orange tea, with a hint of green, is always a winner on days like these. grin

Chubfuddler Wed 03-Jul-13 17:34:27

It's all orange here - fish fingers, smiley faves and beans. Terrible terrible mother.

They'll think it's a birthday or something
