How many posts did we get to on the old one? tennis

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:09:46

See, i'm so stressed, I nearly missed the Ferrer match.

VAMOS!!!!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 12:11:39

Did I mention I saw Ferrer playing when I was at Roland Garros last year? <just trying to wind Raahh up further>

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:11:43

810- but it was getting a bit slow when i had to use my phone bloody virgin broadband

I love Ferrer. Hope his toe is better.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:11:57

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 12:12:17

dh is poorly today so he can watch tennis

I'm in charge of the remote to make sure he doesn't stray onto the TdF. which does look lovely as it's in Corsica, beautiful. But not as enticing as SW19.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:13:20

Right, David- we DO NOT want a repeat of Saturday.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:14:19

it's raining here- good to see it is sunny daahhn sarf.

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 12:15:08

Witt envy

oh no radio 5 is already mentioning Ferrer 's toe, he was delayed 10 minutes in the locker room, they don't know why but suspect the toe. Which is being discussed in great medical detail just now.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 12:15:43

I hope that tomorrow's schedule is less exciting because I have stuff to do and I can't put it off another day

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 12:16:44

as is Richard Kraijczek 's toe (sp)

I like him. Despite not knowing how to spell his name.

Just plonking my bum down, but I'm off to a funeral soon, then will have a two hour drive home. Gonna need you guys to keep me updated. I'll probably be put the loop til 5ish.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 12:17:17

Lots of close ups of Ferrer's trainers just now. Can the commentators diagnose the state of the toe through all that material?

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:19:49

Witt- probably- x-ray visiongrin

Now, I'm happy to massage knees and thighs better, but toes are a bit icky.

VAMOS FERRER

or i will only be left with Del Potato to cheer on!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:20:55

I am home from the shopping trip. I have hurt my knee, twisted on it very badly while trying to get my Nan out of the way of an Asda worker pushing a huge trolley of stuff.
My Nan went, 'Oh fucking hell, is that your knee gone?' My Nan, is 94 and looks every inch the little old lady - she said the F word shock.

Driving home there are a lot of police men at bottom of road, as in 5 big vans and lots walking about. No idea what is happening, only care I got through it and home for tennis tennis tennis tennis.

I am about to look who is playing at the moment....

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:21:06

Great- poorly toe, no coach, court that was formerly the 'graveyard of the seeds'

it's not looking good.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 12:22:58

Is it just me or does Dodig look a bit like Hugh Jackman?

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:23:00

I am watching Ferrer!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:23:53

Oh no..... I do not like Dodig - I can't take to his face. There is something about his face that is just wrong.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:24:49

Front looking witt? Yeah, I can see what you mean... Side view and I am off again, going, 'Oh I don't like his face....'

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 12:25:23

flowers to seize for your knee. and shock at your Nan!

wonder what is happening on your road? I was imagining you telling them you had to get through as you had some very important tennis to watch.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:29:36

Dodig looks like a Croatian Alistair MaGowan, pretending to be a tennis player.

I don't like him. He's bring back bad Dogsbollocks memories. Someone injure his serving arm.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:31:24

I said nothing to them ami I just wanted to get home.
We have a helicopter going over as well, very low - bloody irritating as its drowning out the Tv.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:33:37

ooh- it's sounds exciting round your way, seize- i hate Police helicopters , bloody noisy things. And I live near an airport, I should be used to noisegrin

Hope you've got an ice-pack for your knee.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:34:04

Its woken up younger dd grin
I did ogle the police men though, well, you've got to, haven't you? All mulling about in uniform looking swave and tooled up with batons!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:36:06

VAMOS FERRER!! Don't lose this game!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:36:18

Morning campers. Had a lovely night on Saturday but did feel a bit delicate yesterday. There was some South African liquer with a name like frangipani (but not that) being passed aruond, that tasted nice and harmless at the time but I paid the price the next morning!

seize - have you done your knee in sympathy for Del Potato? Lindsay Davenport was speculating he might not be ok, and if he's not, I will CRY. I said the other day when your nan was eating maltesers she was my kind of girl, and I definitely think so now having heard about her Asda antics! (Was it big Asda in Llansamlet?!).

Dodig's face isn't quite right is it, it's like not all the parts of it belong to him. He has a bit of a lendl look about his mouth I think.

Hope all those of you at work manage to catch a bit of tennis.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:36:33

I have an extra bone in my knee that docs would not take out while I was growing up.... It is the reason I can't run and jog. It doesn't hurt unless I run or jog! Turn on it sharply or it gets very, very cold outside...
Its my reason to remain in front of Tv all day today with occasional peeps out the front window to see if the police are shifting up our way... I will know by days end what is going on there - a neighbour will come tell me, that's how it is here.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:37:37

His teeth are wrong
<continues assassination of the physical features of Dodig>
poor man.
grin

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:37:38

Nope (Farley* We have an Asda in Gorseinon now! We have joined the 21st century!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:37:42

Ferrer need a pair of trainers with a hole cut in the front so his poorly toe can breathe.

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 12:38:30

Hi all! (reposting as posted on the old thread!)

I am back at work now after having a month off ill so won't have my full attention to pay to Magic Monday today.

I do, however, have 2 monitors at work so hopefully can have iPlayer on the go on one of them.
Stupid scheduling for the Brits playing early today, meaning most of the home fans won't get to watch.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:39:19

His gob hangs open far too much for my liking Raahh I want to slap it shut for him....
Come on Ferrer!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:39:32

Right- don't let him ace you out of the set!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:40:46

Crikey, these two are going to sleep well the way they're slogging at that ball.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:43:28

Oh dear.

I saw the score and shouted 'Jesus' blush at which point Dodig fell over.

'Jesus fall over?' asked DD2, in a worried voice grin

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:43:40

Glad though I'm sure you are that you're better Queef, you should have timed it better so you had another two weeks off ill! Then you're scheduling worries would count for naught!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:44:19

Ahh your poor DD2 raahh!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:46:05

VAMOS FERRER

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:46:26

<cries>

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:46:52

Oh dear.

Dodig has a very pointy nose.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 12:47:00

Can we have a vote? Is it Henman Hill or Murray Mount? [hint: It's Henman Hill!]

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 12:47:12

Not that mine is anything to write home about.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:48:23

Henman Hill.

Or Robson's....erm....

Dodig SPITS.

Kill him

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:48:27

Henman Hill! That's where we are all going next year on Super Saturday to sit and watch tennis and get drunk!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:49:33

Gross, just gross - spitting....
He's just an awful individual.
Come on Ferrer.....!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:50:08

Much better game than he's had so far- maybe he needs a set (or 2) to warm up?

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 12:50:53

I know, damn me and my poor infection planning! I could have milked it from the Doctor.
Bloody DP who doesn't even really like tennis is off today and gleefully winding me up about it. I have my headphones plugged in and minimied iPlayer so should be set.

Lol @ your DD Raahh

DS' tennis watching is coming along (he is 2.5) , he now stands in front of the tv shouting "go on Andy/Laura, do it" and when he misses a shot "oh no, missed the ball, get it get it."

I might finally have someone to come and queue at Wimbo with me in a few years

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:51:46

Phwoorrr.... I am starting to see the attraction Raahh

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 12:51:56

Robson's ridge?

'twill always be Henman hill to me.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 12:53:19

They've just called it Robson's Green on the BBC live blog hmm. Ummmm.... NO! Henman Hill I'll thank you.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:53:35

He needs to make Dodig Jesus fall over again. <evil>

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:54:20

Robson's greengrin

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 12:57:25

Phew! about time he got some luck.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 12:57:27

I would like to see Ferrer in a loin cloth swinging up the trees at the bottom of my garden!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:00:33

grin

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:01:16

Or even without a loin cloth? <Gasp> - did I really just say that?

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:01:42

If there was no loin cloth you'd def see him swinging.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:03:13

AHHHH! Farley You filthy animal... I just laughed out loud!
Ferrer reminds me of Tarzan is all, his floppy hair....

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:04:33

As long as it's only his hair that's floppy.

God, you lot are a bad influence on me <prim>

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:08:02

Goran needs to change his hairdresser.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:08:28

mmmmm Goran

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:09:46

I don't think i can watch any moresad

DeathMetalMum Mon 01-Jul-13 13:09:59

Settling down to watch Laura smile

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:11:57

I'm going to Laura as well. Raahh please keep us updated?

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:12:31

Do you think they will announce if/when (they better bloody had) they show Del Potato? Cos I can't be doing with all the checking here, there and everywhere every five minutes, it's too wearing.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:12:53

Dare I watch Laura?

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:19:13

If Ferrer loses, you'll hear me crying.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 13:20:25

I'm afraid I've defected to the Robson match too.

MirandaWest Mon 01-Jul-13 13:21:29

Am c

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:21:51

Sue will keep you posted farley!

MirandaWest Mon 01-Jul-13 13:21:56

Am combining watching Laura Robson and marking exam papers smile

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:22:48

And Mnetting Miranda!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:23:18

She better seize, she won't like me if she makes me miss Del Potato.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:28:59

That's a very surprising statistic.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:29:35

At least the commentary team is more balanced in the Ferrer match today- on Saturday, you could tell they were wanting Dogsbollocks to win.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:29:57

DAvidsad

VAMOS!!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:31:48

There are too many good matches on at the same time. Utterly unfair scheduling....

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 13:33:51

I have the Robson match on while am eating my lunch. Happy times.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:35:02

I have Robson on as well but Ferrer is on and Serena...

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 13:36:52

Serena, Schmerena is what I say!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:36:56

Shit- Ferrer had a set point in tie break, and blew it. 6/6

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:37:57

Set!!!!! Thank you Cheezus!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:39:00

I think Laura's Dad should take his turn looking after the dogs this week.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:40:05

Just switched over- Go Laura!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:40:11

Can't begin to imagine how I'd feel if I had the weigh of the crowd's expectation on me. She's remarkable composed.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 13:41:04

Afternoon ladies, sat down just in time to watch Laura after spending all morning tidying and sorting. I have 100% earned an afternoon of tennis, even DS4 (8 weeks old) has dropped off to sleep, which is very kind of him as he has screamed all morning!

COME ON LAURA GET THE BREAK!

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 13:41:50

YES!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:43:03

I seem to have developed a new habit of leaving the last letters of the ends of words.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:43:29

And a habit of using the wrong word.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 13:46:16

What the buggery fuck was that Laura?

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 13:47:27

Oh dear. She seemed to be doing OK until I glanced at Iplayer. Perhaps is better if I don't look.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:49:17

<whispers> David has broken Dodigs' serve' shock

He does better when i don't watch.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 13:51:07

And Lisicki is 4-2 up against Serena!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:51:35

Laura does better when I don't watch raahh.

The weather in Wimbledon must be a lot warmer than here (all of thirty miles away) - I'm sat here in my cardi!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:52:44

Argh - need oxygen!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:54:48

Cant look.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 13:55:21

Whereabouts are you Farley? I'm 40 miles from SW19 and it's very warm here (despite the clouds).

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:55:56

Oh God, the pressure on her.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:56:23

Maidenhead Witt. You?

FatalFlowerGarden Mon 01-Jul-13 13:56:47

Oooooooh, what was that' Laura? (Says she who can't chuck a ball over a net)

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:57:07

I'm turning over.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 13:57:12

Aaaarrrrgh the bloody baby is awake already...and I just got a slice of cake angry

And now Robson is buggering about as well!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 13:57:14

I'm in Reading

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 13:57:54

It's ok Farley Laura's got it back to 6-6

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 13:57:57

sweeeeeet shot to save the set point

FatalFlowerGarden Mon 01-Jul-13 13:58:36

C'mon Laura!

Hehe at very fair English net...

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:58:42

I will see to the baby Jaque I can't stand to watch this....

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 13:59:23

OMG shock

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 13:59:37

Oh well stuff that.... Hope she can fight back now as she did on Saturday....

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 13:59:38

I'll see to the cake ...

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 13:59:41

Nooooo sad

FatalFlowerGarden Mon 01-Jul-13 13:59:50

Bugger.

Still, this is what happened with whatshername in the last match.

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 13:59:56

Bugger!!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:00:26

Serena is loosing shock
Ferrer is coming back smile
Any news on Potato farley?

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 14:00:57

expost Fatal

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:01:01

Oh she obviously didn't realise I'd stopped watching.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:02:10

He's meant to be up next on court one seize. Haven't heard that he's pulled out so I guess he will at least be giving it a go. He will need all the love and support of us good ladies if he has a poorly knee ...

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:03:19

Ha Serena is a set down, good!

DH has arrived to save the day, he has taken DS2 to settle him and has handed me some extra thick Jersey cream to go with my cake...It must be love grin

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:03:52

Fuck me! i stopped watching to put the washing out- and ferrer won the 3rd set 6-1 *VAMOS FERRER*- and Go Lisicki (or the German equivalent!)

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:05:13

Dodig gone for a wee.

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 14:05:29

Oooooh I would smug serena out

OUT OUT OUT

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:06:05

Good job I don't play tennis, I'd be forever disappearing for a wee. Not that there's even the remotest chance of me ever playing at any sort of level beyond that of a two year old.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:06:36

It's HENMAN HILL, never anything else (I still love old Tim)

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:06:43

Ooh why did Ferrer turn up ten mins late at start of match?

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:07:44

He prob had to do a quick whip round with the hoover.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:08:42

I've only just switched over and already Serena's lurid shorts are annoying me. Come on Lisicki, we want Serena OUT!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:09:31

Does Laura know I've gone?

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:10:06

He was getting his toe seen to, I think.

He's definitely looking better than in the first 2 sets. But I think I should stop watching.

Ferrer nearly fell in the chairs like Del Potato!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:11:21

God they're whacking the ball like there's no tomorrow.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:11:48

hmm Lisicki- you don't need to let her win a set, you know. Straight sets will do.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:12:45

Oh Witt - I was pondering what sort of lurid shots Serena was hitting, then I read your post properly! smile

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:12:52

Dodig looks knackered.

Vamos Ferrer!

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 14:13:08

I'm going to stop watching. Someone tell me when it's safe to look

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:14:10

And Li Na has just thrashed Vinci.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:15:19

Ferrer has a really steely glint in his eye now.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:16:41

Vamos!!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:17:20

I really must stop watching....

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:19:49

Whoops. Completely forgot I was cooking up some veg to puree for the baby. That's the third time I've done that because of the tennis.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:22:18

Just saw off dd's with enough cash to go to cafe and get latte's and cake -- had to get them out the fecking way-- I am such a kind mother....
Back to full concentration here now...

Here you all are.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:23:22

Hello!!

noddyholder Mon 01-Jul-13 14:23:57

Ferrer so cute. Serena lost first set. Robson shaky

Can't believe Serena is losing! shock

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:25:06

I've just realised, that Ferrer will play Del Potato next. Assuming Del Potato wins today- hope his knee is ok.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:25:09

badkitten You are back! Where have you been??

Hello smile

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:25:52

Sadly,Serena won the second set 6-1

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:25:55

Ferrer v Potato....*Raahh v Farley* shock

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:26:26

My **'s and --'s are totally not working....

Had a bit of an emergency and ended back up the hosp. On lots of horrid medication that makes me feel like poo but has the advantage of forcing me to sit down and rest now. So here I am smile

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:28:25

Laura is skipping to psych up? Yeah! Come on Layra....

Oh naughty Serena sad

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:28:46

That's it, I am going to make a coffee - I can no longer spell.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:29:26

C'mon Lisicki!!!
(anyone speak German?)

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:29:47

Oh.., badkitten I am sorry. Are you feeling a little better?
I missed your weather report this morning - happy to have you back. Sit on couch. Do not move. Orders.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:30:40

badkitten farley said you fell into a tombola as I thought you'd gone to a school fayre Saturday!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:31:44

OYBBK - hope you're ok.

The Del Potato/Ferrer match will be interesting (if it happens!). Much as I love my man I can't see him outlasting terrier Ferrier, specially if he has bad knee.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:32:58

But Del Potato makes Ferrer look tinygrin

Ferrer is looking fresh as a daisy now.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:33:06

I have dh on kettle duty seize. How's Laura doing?

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 14:33:57

GEHEN SIE

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:34:36

I've been making the same cup of coffee for 3 hoursgrinIf this goes on much longer, I'll keel over from dehydrationgrin

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:35:16

Cheers, Chub!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:36:11

farley Second set... 5 all.... I am on edge of chair....
Coffee, skimmed milk, no sugar ta...

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:36:53

Yay!! Ferrer!!!

Fabulous shot to end on.
He's lovely.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:38:06

Dodig did play well- but really was reliant on his, admittedly, huge serve.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:38:48

Poop! Laura's about to go out sad

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:40:10

Bloody hell this isn't a good start to the day!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:40:58

Yes, height difference is funny. He's (Del Potato) same height as Dh, and actually he reminds me a lot of how Dh was at that age, so am assuming that's why I fancy like him so much!

DeathMetalMum Mon 01-Jul-13 14:43:14

sad I have been flicking between Robson and Lisicki/Serena was/am hoping for Lisicki to win really like watching her play.

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 14:43:53

Is Laura out?

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 14:44:44

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:44:52

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:01

Laura has gone sad

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:07

Yes, she's out sad

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:16

Ohsad

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:23

Yes, she is out sad

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:24

she is now sad

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:31

Oh poor Laura.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:45:38

Kanepi has a strange snarl.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:46:19

Aaah the poor thing looks so upset sad sad

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:46:27

I think Laura is crying... Bless... But she fought hard, she's a good fighter.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:46:44

She fought well though didn't she?

Sparklingbrook Mon 01-Jul-13 14:46:46

Hello all. Not a big Wimbledon fan but sad. And LR is way prettier than whoever it was she was playing.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:47:20

Bring on the Potato now.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:47:30

Kanepi is a really odd looking woman!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:48:20

She's getting better all the time, and has some good wins to look back on. She could very easily have lost first round. US Open next,Laura!

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 14:48:54

Laura did fight really hard but she should have won the first set.

sad Laura.

I'm willing lisickie on...... Please play harder.

Lol at falling into a tombola. 'twas another adventurer who went to the school fayre. My outing was much less nice, but anyway.... I did do a brief forecast this am. It said quite nice in general but maybe some showers tomorrow evening and thurs afternoon.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:51:58

YES!!! Lisicki has broken back. Some good news at least.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:52:41

Lisicki has broken back in the third set.

GEHEN SIE !

Sparklingbrook Mon 01-Jul-13 14:52:49

Thought you meant a broken back then Witt. i think i will leave the thread as i don't know the lingo. grin

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 14:53:04

Ahhhh, see, badkitten I must have been in Asda with my f'ing and blinding Nan when you did your this morning forecast!

Murray is up after Serena, yes? Time for a bathroom break then, been holding on throughout Laura....

Farley, is the kettle on still? A cup of tea would be lovely.

Seriously tempted to email dh and ask him to come down and make me one grin

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:53:19

Will some nice kind person shout out if they hear where they're showing the Potato? Just done a flick around and no sign of any court one coverage at the moment.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 14:53:54

Still hot OYBBK, what's your poison?

That sounds like an interesting outing sieze grin

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 14:54:31

I've been looking too,*Farley*- hope he's not going to forfeitsad

Aw fab!!!

Just a nice cup of tea, milk no sugar please smile

It is hard to keep track of what is being shown where. I lost the Lisickie match but found it again.

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 14:56:59

I'll take a strong white coffee with 1.5 sugars thanks

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 14:59:54

YES!!! Lisicki gets a break again. Time to hold your serve now!!!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:01:26

When will I learn not to take dh's word for things?! Just asked him what Lisicki's first name was and he said "I think it's Vicky or Nicky". So I was pondering why her parents would chose a first name to rhyme with her surname. Then I saw the scoreboard.

Tea's up OYBBK.

Fab thanks Farley!

Come on Lisi!!!!!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:02:55

Any news of Potato? Should be out on court now?

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 15:02:56

Serena really is charmless isn't she?

Williams is looking a bit pissed off.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:05:25

I would be too scared to piss Serena off.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 15:06:04

Brilliant way to hold. Fingers crossed she can break Serena a third time to take the lead in this set.

I can't watch!!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:07:29

BB2 for Juan

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 15:08:16

Lisicki is playing so well smile

Blimey, they are going for it!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:08:54

badkit Hugely interesting and best banished from thought...
Bathroom break over and back to Serena....

BBMs Mon 01-Jul-13 15:09:23

Wow! Well done Lisicki smile

Serena is def struggling psychologically now.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:09:46

farley Bonkers Barker will probably give update on Potato after this Serena match?

Oooooooo.

BBMs Mon 01-Jul-13 15:10:11

Crap! I really want Serena to go home... Can't stand the woman!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:10:56

He's on BB2 now seize, bless.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 15:10:58

Serena did not enjoy that last point smile

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:11:12

Wow..! Serena Williams - flying around the court - watch her go... She goes high, she goes low, she goes fast but she misses it!

Not looking!!!

MirandaWest Mon 01-Jul-13 15:11:57

I marked (and didn't MN grin). Have to go and get children from school - too many breaks in this set!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:12:32

Great news farley Keep us all updated then as we are all screaming at Lipsticky to beat Serena's butt off court - although, feel a bit mean about it really... But.... Ah well....

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:13:09

Oh dear, John Lloyd already speculating about Potato's knee and we're only in second game of match.

Oh goodness.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:14:14

Will do seize, tell Lisicki I want her to win.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:14:30

Flipping heck - you know, I swear I use up more energy on tennis watching days than any other - in adrenalin alone... I almost can not watch this.

sad

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:15:19

I am not sure about Potato as he will play Ferrer if he wins and that means you and raahh pitted against each other Wednesday.... We will need a referee on here...

Oooooo match point!

Startail Mon 01-Jul-13 15:16:04

Come on Lisicki.
Oh sod, I can't watch.
She's DD2's absolute favourite.

Oh sad come ON

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:16:39

You know Serena? My younger dd is the spit of her. The hair, the face, the build.... Just a little paler than her that's all...

sad pleasepleaseplease

BBMs Mon 01-Jul-13 15:16:41

Nooooooooooooooooooooo

She must be stunning sieze smile

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:17:29

oh Lisicki!!Come on!!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:18:03

YESSSSS!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:18:05

Well bugger me sideways - Serena is out!

YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 15:18:12

YES YES YES! Lisicki has won grin tennis

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:18:32

(Del Potato is on BBC2, btw)

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:18:45

We'll play nicely seize, I promise! And we'll shake hands at the end.

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 15:18:51

I'm utterly gutted over Laura Robson. Utterly gutted.

She utterly enthralls me.

Well done Lisicki!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:19:10

Oh wow, fab news for Lisicki!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:19:30

At least we are spared he silly salute/dance thing. Bye, Serena.

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 15:19:34

Poor laura

HA serena

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:19:55

She's well known around here because of her hair, they go, 'Oh Sieze's youngest? With the hair?'

She looks so happy!

Episode Mon 01-Jul-13 15:20:32

Why is Serena disliked so much?

How funny, does she like her hair sieze?

Awwwwwwwwww.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:22:42

Tbh, Ferrer is obviously my second choice, in the absence of Nadal. I'd love him togo further- but Del Potato is great, and relatively young, so I won't be too unhappy if he beats David.

Oh, Sabine is crying.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:22:47

What is her hair like seize?

I may be imagining it, but I think Potato is being a bit tentative with regards to his movement.

She's crying with happiness.

HesterShaw Mon 01-Jul-13 15:22:53

Today is actually the first day I have been able to watch the tennis. Damn work.

I have an enormous amount of respect for Serena the player. She is a genuine ground breaker, and one of the all time greats. The amount of casual racism people direct at her is jaw dropping (I'm referring to no one here).

But she's hard to warm to as a person.

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 15:23:05

I don't dislike her at all. I admire her enormously, as an athlete and what she has overcome.

I just think as a tennis fan any competition is far more exciting when one player's domination is broken.

Feel exactly the same over Federer/Nadal going out.

HesterShaw Mon 01-Jul-13 15:23:20

Sorry - that was to Episode.

amigababy Mon 01-Jul-13 15:25:00

lisicki Radio 5 interview is priceless, she is blubbing "I'm so happy " . I've got a tear in my eye too for her she's nearly overcome. She's managed to finish the interview though

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:27:34

Lady - I agree, I'm not a Serena fan, but the tournament needed her. I bet most people would be hard pushed to recognise half of the women left in. The Williams' sisters , like them or not, have done a huge amount for the game,it's just a shame they are often seen as a bit arrogant (Serena in particular).

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:28:40

There are so many empty seats on court one, s'not fair. I would kill for one of them. Well, not quite but still.

Startail Mon 01-Jul-13 15:29:28

tennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrintennisgrin

BBMs Mon 01-Jul-13 15:29:45

Didn't get to watch Serena's interview.... Did anyone see it?

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:31:14

There are people watching DelPotato wearing strange wigs- not sure if they are meant to be McEnroe wigs. Do you think they realise he isn't playing,?grin

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 15:31:39

Raahh - absolutely. I have really enjoyed their contribution over the years, I just think we need to get more players in real contention now, potential winners, rather than finalists.

Much like the men's game is now - 3/4 years ago if Federer/Nadal was in a final, you'd know the result depending on surface. NOw there are a good 8/9/10 really able to win slams.

has Laura Robson given an interview yet?

Episode Mon 01-Jul-13 15:35:05

I knw more of her outside of the court than in and I wouldn't consider her as arrogant!!! Both the Williams sisters come across as hard workers, lovers of tennis and very soft! No way are they untypical of a sports star in any profession. I genuinely feel this has more to do with stereotypes than actual payment personalities but thats another conversation altogether! Just thought I'd ask sad sad

Startail Mon 01-Jul-13 15:36:19

Seize grin at hair, my DD2 puts little plaits and white roses to hold them just like Lisicki although she's a dancer and a gymnast not a athletically built tennis player.

Episode, I don't dislike her, but there doesn't seem to have been anyone to rival her and I do like a competition where there is competition iyswim.

Episode Mon 01-Jul-13 15:36:44

Not sure what payment personalities means!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:37:04

Mn went offline shock I couldn't talk to you all - intense panic!! Thank God you are back.....

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:37:44

Those wigs must be annoying if you're sat behind them.

The reason I'm glad Serena is out is that her presence becomes a bit predictable/boring, so whereas you can't help but admire her prowess as an athlete/tennis player, I relish a bit of variation.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:39:07

Vamos Del potato!

I'm very worried about his knee.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:39:30

Andy had better give us an easy time of this game - I can't take any more... Black Wednesday was bad enough....

I bet it was supposed to be players personalities!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:39:56

Did MN go off? Thought it was my internet, which is crap today.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:40:24

Yes me too raah, I swear he's being really tentative.

Episode Mon 01-Jul-13 15:43:13

She has worked her ass off her whole life to become the best and I managed to achieve that against all odds. It sounds ridiculous to me to hear people say they dont like her because others essentially aren't good enough! I suspect she doesn't fit the idea of a tennis champ for a lot of people!!! As an avid sports fan this is something that is not seen in any other sport or with any other star. Her continuous reign says more about thw quality of competition than her surely? ??wink wink

HesterShaw Mon 01-Jul-13 15:43:22

Episode, FWIW, I hate the way the "Williams sisters" are lumped together as one entity, when actually they are very different. Williams-bashers talk about their power and the fact that it's all wham bam - total nonsense. It's not just strength at all - with Serena certainly it's placement and precision and shot selection which also make her great. They are also extremely different physically - the way people some people, go on about them, you would think they were identical twins.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:45:24

Grrrrrrr - school run.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:45:55

Okay - what's to know about Youz? We only got a bit from the lorrrvely McEnroe before the game.... Anybody seen him play before? I can't recall having seen him.
Neighbour has decided to trim the fecking hedges now - horrendous blasted noise coming in, will have to shut the door. God damn neighbours.

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 15:46:01

Episode, it's not that I don't like her. I just enjoy a slam more when there's competition. I certainly have nothing against her winning, but will enjoy seeing who will win now the competition is more open.

I think its the same in every sport - the more successful, the more people want the underdog to win!

Episode Mon 01-Jul-13 15:46:07

Ohyou, ha ha your right! I genuinely couldnt figure it out... tired!

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:46:50

blush Its not my neighbour - sorry next door... Workmen have arrived and are digging up road... Sigh.....

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 15:47:31

sieze - are you on my road.......the EXACT same thing happening here!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:49:20

Well, he's broken Seppi but I don't think he's on top form.

Yes it probably does say more about the quality of the competition Episode, but I'm talking about it from a spectator's point of view, not a fellow competitor - a bit of variation and competition is more interesting to watch. I don't deny her work ethic or talent or any of that stuff.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 15:50:40

seize it's all happening on your road today! Perhaps the police from earlier suspect a body is buried in your road, and have sent in the workmen to dig it up.

Episode Mon 01-Jul-13 15:50:40

Well ill come out in her favor and say she has at least 3 championships left in her! She's an incredible athelete for her age and injury history...Dont get too used to her loosing to fast. I hope they both get the respect they deserve after they retire. They are both tennis legends and I hope they go some way to change thw diversity of the game and quality of the players wink wink

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 15:51:39

Lord I'm not saying I want her to disappear and lose everything. Just mixes it all up.

They absolutely deserve all the plaudits. Their talent is superb

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:52:11

Youzhny has been around awhile, been as high as about number 8, certainly top 10. Tendency to lose his temper.

Del Potato really needs to wrap this match up quickly.

Right, really must go . Flipping school!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 15:53:07

sieze- are they filming series 2 of 'The Fall' on your road??grin

ChuckitintheBucket Mon 01-Jul-13 15:54:41

I am not a fan of Serena at all, but I have to say she is most likely the most gracious player on the tour. She clearly said something complementary to Sabine and waited to walk off court together. You don't see too much of that these days. Well done to Sabine, played a great match.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 15:58:08

Well I don't know lady Where are you? I'm in Swansea....

I am ignoring the road today - shut blinds now. Tsking like an old lady here - the tennis is on, for the love of all that is Holy - shut the feck up out there! I have to bribe my dc's to go out and then I get the road dug up...

Here's to Youz loosing his cool then raahh

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:00:06

YAY. El Potato has won the first set.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:01:08

hurrah! dh is getting the dcs. grin I forgot he'd been in work early.

Yay! Del Potato has the set.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:02:30

DD2 isn't well though, she's shivery and snotty and is refusing to move from my kneesad

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 16:03:01

Yeah for raahh and the school run - not!
Yeah for Del Potato...
Yeah for the workmen who dug a hole and buggered off.
And - come on Murray!

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 16:03:13

I'm gutted - put daughter in dance taster lessons so I could have another hour today. It's now almost time for riding though. Boo.

sieze - clearly there's more than one inconsiderate tradesman working whilst I'm watching tennis. I'm Yorkshire

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 16:03:56

Owwww for your dd raahh I think she ought to remain on couch as she is ill and your duty, as mother, is to remain there with her, frankly.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:04:51

seize - I will stay putgrin

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 16:05:19

Lady Unless we are experiencing a Dr Who moment then yes, we are miles and miles and miles apart!

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 16:08:25

grin

Poor little dd raah. Hope she feels better soon.

I knew if I sat here long enough I'd get a cup of tea - dd is making me one. Probably the first she has ever made for me without supervision or protest.
Wish she could go for a wee for me too!

LadyBryan Mon 01-Jul-13 16:09:42

Rofl - forget the tea, you don't need the wee grin

True!!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:19:38

WHAT!! Stopped showing El Pot until Bartoli/Knapp on red button has finished. That's so not fair.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:21:12

Where's Del Potato gone???

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:22:55

Arghhhhh! I will not be forced to watch Murray, I won't.angry

I'll watch Pironkova getting her foot looked at instead.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:24:16

Right- Verdasco has won. Put Potato back onmy tv!!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:28:35

He's back Raahh.

BBMs Mon 01-Jul-13 16:29:06

Del Potro is back!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:30:02

He's not limping is he?

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:30:51

Wish dh would go away and stop grumbling.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 16:31:10

Bloody fecking school run!! At least it is done now and I am all caught up.

As far as the Williams sisters go I admire both of them greatly and I was championing them long before they became superstars. They have accomplished so much and will always be considered legends of the game and rightly so.

They are also both amazing business women (especially Serena) and have kept their heads in some horrific circumstances.

However, Serena will now also always be remembered as a rape apologist, who thought a 16 year old girl was to blame for her own rape. That is why I haven't (for the first time ever) supported her a Wimbledon, it has nothing to do with anything else at all.

magimedi Mon 01-Jul-13 16:32:20

I dislike Serena hugely - especially after her comments about the 16 year old rape victim & her telling a line judge she wanted to kill her... so I was THRILLED to see her go out.

This is the first year I have ever enjoyed watching Andy - he's matured so much & doesn't hold back like he use dto.

Back to work! (TV watching, that is!)

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 16:36:05

Oh Murray.... Come on, chin up. Somebody go and nick Youz's rackets or something, make him loose his temper....

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 16:41:28

DD2 was just sick all over mesad I hate Mondays.

MirandaWest Mon 01-Jul-13 16:41:59

Am at children's swimming lessons. With a variable Internet connection. So not entirely sure what is happening.

Then have to go pond dipping with Brownies.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:44:43

Oh raahh, poor you and poor dd.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 16:46:00

Oh Raahh sad. I hope she feels better soon.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 16:56:12

Second set to El Potato. He doesn't look very happy to me though.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:00:40

How's Andy doing?

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 17:03:12

He took the 1st set but is 5:2 down in the 2nd

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:03:24

El Potato already broken Seppi in third set.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:03:51

Oh blimey. Thanks Queef.

NotAQueef Mon 01-Jul-13 17:03:55

I would have preferred a straight sets win, but this means I'll get to see at least a set and a bit when I sneak out early in a minute finish work.

noddyholder Mon 01-Jul-13 17:05:32

The same as Jacqueline the comments re the teenager who got raped ended it for me, have always loved both sisters but it did put me off her.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:08:10

Are any of you planning on going to the ATP tour finals in November?

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:09:11

Farley I looked at tickets but they all seem so expensive sad I would have loved to go.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:10:42

I'd rather get tickets for the veterans tennis at the Albert Hall. Easier to get to, nicer venue and more fun.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:10:59

They are expensive aren't they, but my birthday is in November and I'm contemplating asking dh to put some money towards tickets. I went year before last and it was fab.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:11:56

YES! Murray has broken back grin

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:11:59

Ah but you're saying that as a Bahrami fan Witt!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:12:32

Should be Heather Watson and Marray on Court 14 now. I wonder if it will be shown on one of the live streams.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:12:33

What round did you see last year and what kind of seats?

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:13:20

Well, there is that *Farley grin I can't pass up an opportunity to see the lovely Bahrami and Leconte.

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:15:33

(I'm just bitter because when I had tickets to see the ATP Tour Finals it took us so long to get there that we missed most of Nadal's match)

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:16:03

It was the semi-final between Berdych and Tsonga, and we had really good seats near the front. I had two of my ds's with me, and ds1's girlfriend. There was some famous Chelsea footballer sitting with the players' relatives, and he came over at ds1's girlfriend's request and had his pic taken with them. Was a lovely day.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:17:01

Oh no. That must have really pissed you off.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:17:35

Back from having to spend 10 mins with ds... He asked ever so polite and normally he never wants to spend time with anybody!
I left room - Murray was down. I get back? He's up.... Hope that's not my jinxing matters....

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:18:49

Ooooh that sounds like a fabulous day! envy smile

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:19:55

Aww, El Potato just did an awful shot, and was so embarrassed by it he pulled his tshirt up to hide his face.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:20:36

Didnt pull it far enough up for me to see his stomach though!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 17:20:49

Well, I'm missing everything now. Poor dd2- she is very rarely ill, and this just seemed to come on all of a sudden. sad

Vamos Del Potato!

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 17:20:57

Well, I'm missing everything now. Poor dd2- she is very rarely ill, and this just seemed to come on all of a sudden. sad

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 17:21:36

I have no idea why that posted twiceconfused

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:22:01

Oh Raahh you poor thing and DD2 sad

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:22:01

It was a lovely day Jacqueline, tickets were a present then as well.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:22:59

Oh No!! Murray keeps holding his side...possible injury?????

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:23:00

I can't go see anybody this year/next year on account of the fact I will be a struggling student from September so skint. Waaaahhh! But when I am rich, you know, when I have retrained and am earning mega bucks I shall remember you guys on this here thread and ship you all off to meet me for the entire last week at Wimbledon - great seats.... Wine and vodka for you that partake. Beer for me and binoculars, just so we can extra, extra stare at the 'new balls'.....

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 17:23:52

Witt- my gran went to the oldies at the Albert Hall, she loved it.

At least Nadal has already qualified for the Atp tour finals- just hope he gets there!sad

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:23:55

I may apply to be Ferrer sports masseur Raahh Would you like to be my bag carrier for that occasion?

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:25:33

Raahh, hope she improves as quickly as she got ill.

JaquelineHyde Mon 01-Jul-13 17:25:53

sieze I'm a struggling student so I sympathise entirely, I'm also on maternity leave until January from studying so don't get any bursaries or grants etc and because I am still classed as a student I am not entitled to get any form of benefits to tide us over shock angry

We have become experts at living on air and robbing Peter to pay Paul grin

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:26:40

sieze can we all come with you and pretend to be trainee student sports masseurs. Then you can suggest we each need a go on him to practice.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 17:27:05

seize -it's a date - you massage one leg, i'll do the other not his toe though-yeuch

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:28:01

seize - we will hold you to that!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:28:06

First set to Marray/Watson grin tennis

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:29:51

Yes Jaque I am having to keep on working while studying as no benefit help for me either and they have swiped my carers allowance off me because of studying from this September its adios carers allowance - (my son has Aspergers...) It completely sucks but its made me all the more determined to absolutely study and do well so I can give the finger to the while shabby system.... The EU meet thing the other day where some millions were put aside to help young people (I am old but young people now) retrain for jobs was a farce - you can;t retrain as you can't get benefit help to live if you retrain....
I shall shut up with the whinge now and say... COME ON MURRAY!

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 17:30:51

I am a little worried my cosmic ordering worked. If so I apologise andy.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:31:00

Yes - absolutely - you are all my apprentices and you all need hands on experience... Line up - I will take a deli style ticket machine with me...

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 17:31:45

EL Potato is through! Commentator has just described him as "red hot"! Couldn't agree more.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:33:13

Yes! For El Potato...
And Raahh You will get two goes at apprentice masseur... Its only fair, you've been with Ferrer since the beginning!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:35:03

Ooooh, just checked and Ferrer is only a year younger than me. That makes me feel a lot better. Thought he might be a few years younger and then I'd start feeling a bit awkward about massaging him.

Raahh Mon 01-Jul-13 17:35:08

aww, Del Potato grin He's very lovely.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 17:35:54

Woop, woop! Yes.... Go Murray!

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 17:36:17

Murray did really well to come back in the second set and win it. Showing much better mental strength these days.

Now to turn my attention back to the doubles.

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 17:37:19

Hello. time for tennis tennis club today.

Yesss Potato through and yummy. I love potatoes!! grin tennis

well done Lisicki, fab win, sad laura, fought well.

Dodig, Im sure he'sa nice guy but he looks wierd. dont know why but just does, (yeah, like Im an iol painting-a picasso grin)!

best commentator ever was Dan Maskell. only spoke when needed and not all the twaddle these guys do.

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 17:39:06

Evening ladies - and ta for the new thread, Raahh.

I need a lie down after that second set. Agh!!
Who was it who said they would trade a Murray win for a Serena loss? I hope you haven't tempted fate <throws a dark look, with a furrowed brow>

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 17:40:08

Can't watch Murray, he makes me nervouse although I like him and Youghzny.

fabbo, Berdych and Tomic about to start on court 1. this was match ive been looking for the most today. but damm. bloody castle commentating, although at least the gorgeuos Peter Flemings there to tone him down. tennis

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 17:40:38

Lendl is going to rip into him whatever happens here, isn't he?

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 17:42:13

Maybe Lendl just shouts at him for hours. That's their training.

He's most unnerving isn't he? His face is completely impassive.

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 17:44:09

Let us know how Berdych & Tomic get on please, GSM?

Watson & Marray are 1 set up in the doubles, I think. Fingers crossed there.

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 17:46:09

ffs what's with the double faults??

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 17:51:16

I'm flitting between matches as there's too much choice! used to be able to multiscreen, didnt we before? previous years?

Tomic called for Hawkeye the very 1sy point and lost!!grin.
dont know if Tomic is just a troubled young man who's playing great tennis tennis or a complete and utter male diva arrogant twat.

what does anyone else make of him? excluding whats going on with his dad.

I am rooting for Berdych though anyway. tennis.

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 17:57:08

Fleming and RObson just broken to lead in their match, 1st set! tennis

Tom and Ber going with serve.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:02:10

When did they start using the phrase "the round of 16"? I've never heard it before this year. Have also been hearing "over-cooked" and "brain cramp" a lot recently (in tennis commentary).

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:03:49

Game - I know very little about Tomic so can't answer sensibly. However, I will say I don't like the look of him (which is based on precisely nothing, and is very unfair I know!)

ClayDavis Mon 01-Jul-13 18:04:00

Blimey, you lot can talk. Looks like I've missed a lot this afternoon. Do I watch Murray or Watson in the doubles.

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 18:05:16

Youzhny is going to throw everything at these next games as he literally has nothing to lose.

GinaTina Mon 01-Jul-13 18:08:11

.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:09:39

How does Judy remain so impassive looking?

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 18:11:21

oh ffs castle shut the f** up going on and on every bloody time about Tomics dad.

talk about Tomic match. bless peter Fleming, he keeps quiet about it.

just flitted to Murray match to see hopefully end now. come on Andy! tennis

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 18:11:50

Years of practice, I would guess, Farley grin
I would imagine in days gone by there were moans of "You were looking funny and it put me off and it's all your fault mum". Not that I buy the Murray as a moaner tag - it's just what children do and it's always mum's fault grin

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:12:21

Phew.

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 18:12:40

double bloody fault. Again. ffs.

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 18:13:18

Yesssss! tennis, ah, Ross Hutchins in the crowd, a right bromance there!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:13:46

Yes, Judy's probably had the "Mum, you're embarrassing me" convo more than most of us!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:14:58

I always think it's so nice when they sign autos after a match when they must be shattered. On a high though I guess.

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 18:17:29

HURRAY!!!!
<but he's still going to get kicked by Lendl - with some justification>

Murray/ Hutchins bromance makes me sniff in a nice way. There is some great footage on Youtube of a few of the players (including those two) all ripping into each other at the US Open a couple of years back and it's so clear they get on so well. The humour is fairly basic, mind you grin

teejwood Mon 01-Jul-13 18:19:06

Verdasco's on form though, isn't he? He's going to have to get on top of that one...

ClayDavis Mon 01-Jul-13 18:20:32

Not looking so good for Heather and Marray in the doubles. Maybe I shouldn't have started watching it.

siezethenight Mon 01-Jul-13 18:21:02

So happy and Djok next!

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:22:39

Oh just watched interview with Lisicki - she had the widest smile, and was crying with happiness. Lovely smile

Chubfuddler Mon 01-Jul-13 18:24:16

If djok goes out my pleasure will be complete (shame about poor little laura though)

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:24:35

Dh making tea now, which is nice and all, but it's not like he's out there saving mankind (which is what you'd think he was doing if you could hear him).

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:25:15

Aww, I like Djok. I realise that puts me in the minority though.

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 18:26:51

Lisicki made ME cry! gosh, I know Lauras 'gutted' but talk about a sore loser!

was the same at the Olympics, they won silver but she was moaning she wanted gold.

girl, you got silver, better than nothing!

yay, Djoko, my Djoko tennis. now having to flit even more between matches!

GameSetAndMatch Mon 01-Jul-13 18:27:51

Farley you and me the Djoko girls tennis.

ClayDavis Mon 01-Jul-13 18:28:05

I don't dislike Djok. I'm just not really bothered either way. I do like Haas though.

TheDoctrineOfAllan Mon 01-Jul-13 18:28:08

tennis

Witt Mon 01-Jul-13 18:28:17

Heather and Marray are out sad

ClayDavis Mon 01-Jul-13 18:28:48

Hearther and Marray have lost.

FarleyD Mon 01-Jul-13 18:33:59

We'll have to shout loud Game to drown out the haters!

ClayDavis Mon 01-Jul-13 18:35:22

Hearther? Heather, obviously. Really should start to proofread MN posts.
