Thought we'd have a new thread for today.

It is raining cats and dogs (technical term) here in theNorth West- I am not very hopeful of a full days play at Wimbledon. but fingers crossed. The weather bloke last night today would be 'Frustrating Friday'in terms of play. Fond of alliteration, those Wimbledon types.

As I thought,Robson has had an up-grade from court 2 to centre, which should give her a boost.

Looking forward to see if Dimitrov pulls through- and
first upon number 1 court.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 08:50:04

(I really need to get myspace bar fixedgrin)

Grrr that mn was down this am, so my forecast is a bit late!

Today, as. Is rather evident is going to be a somewhat wet day. It might clear up a little earlier than expected to get a little evening play in, but don't hold your breath.

Other than that, fine and dry right until Tuesday which we need to keep a bit of an eye on as some potential for wet shows up then.

magimedi Fri 28-Jun-13 10:01:26

Not raining - yet - on SE coast.

Am hoping that the Dimitrov match gets finished.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 10:06:28

<Lands at kitchen table and flicks hair annoyingly>
A second thread - delightful.
Marking place - have the entire day off work today so am just sitting about waiting for play to begin.... Come on already.

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 10:08:48

Robson 1st on centre. That was the one match I wanted to see I thought I stood a chance of watching yesterday. If they put the roof on she'll get to play amd I'll be at work. Should get to see Murray v Robredo though.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 10:15:38

Robson is my highlight today. I know she hits the net a lot which is frustrating but it seems like ages ago I watched her play last, so much has happened since she last stepped on court in this Wimbledon... Its as if she is coming out into an entirely other tournament...
Murray to end the day, is that correct? So am off to look up order of play to find out what the filling in this delicious sandwich is today.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 11:41:57

I've just switched on- rainsad

Hopefully the roof is on centre, and they can start off there at least.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 11:48:10

I'm looking forward to Robredo hopefully giving Murray a run for his money. He played exceptionally at the French, and I think Murray needs a bit of a test before everyone gets a bit complacent.

Laura can be brilliant- sometimes her immaturity shows a bit, but she doesn't let the big names phase her. I think we have a couple of big future stars in Robson and Watson (hopefully Watson will recover properly soon).

Anne Keothavong is beautifulenvy

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 11:49:00

(watching the bbc at the moment in case that last comment sounded randomgrin- she's talking to Sue Barker).

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 11:50:04

Annoyingly- play on centre not scheduled til 1pm- surely, knowing the forecast, it would have made sense to start earlier?

<stops wittering to self>

It would have made sense Raah, they could have then got in a couple of other matches at the end.
I guess they must consider these things though.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 11:56:20

OYBBK- I think they do- I know it changes the court playing too often with the roof on,maybe that's a consideration. Still frustrating (probably more so for the players)gringrin

NigellasGuest Fri 28-Jun-13 12:38:33

is the guy who beat Nadal playing today?
He has a very pretty wife <not lesbian just appreciative>

Mama1980 Fri 28-Jun-13 12:40:13

Yay I found you all again.
Now we need it to stop raining!

I think they might be able to start playing outside at around 3pm smile

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 12:49:03

The bloke who beat Nadal- pulled out injured before his second round match.
But I think Stakhovsky (the one who beat Federer ) is playing today.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 12:50:00

And his wife is very pretty indeed. Looks a bit like Mila Kunis.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 12:51:50

3pm? Just in time for the school rungrin

I need play today!- I've discovered I'm going to be stuck at the village fair tomorrow for the best part of 4 hours. I am extremely fed up about thissad

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 12:53:09

But I want to see Ferrer!! <sulks>

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 12:56:11

Awww- Stakhovsky is staying in a house with a local family with 4 kids!!

Oh dear! Can you not feign tummy pain or something? Or haul out a big telly with you grin

NigellasGuest Fri 28-Jun-13 12:57:48

oh I am an idiot - I did mean the one who beat Federer. And yes, that's it - Mila Kunis!
I hope he does well today...

raah just hope that the village fair is rained off but Wimbledon goes ahead! What a pain! I recommend using small portable radio with earphones tuned to Radio 5...

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 12:59:03

Positioned in kitchen with remote control and huge pile of ironing to ease the tension of watching Laura... Banished now up offspring to living room and told them to shut up keep quiet for the rest of the day or simply go back to bed. They are 22, 20 and 16 by the way, I have not stuffed three toddlers into a play pen with the cats food on demand bowl and left them to it!
Ahhh - a whole, entire afternoon and evening of tennis.
I am braced and ready...

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 12:59:24

Will the roof be on centre court from the start of play today?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 12:59:56

Btw - is it wrong to fancy John McEnroe?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:00:46

Sadly- the fair never gets rained offangry. Am still drying out from last year. Ds is playing steel pans beneath the school gazebo- which last year sprung a leakgrin I hope they've fixed it. I will not be volunteering to walk around the village with DD1 and the rainbowsgrin
(will have my hands full trying not to lose dd2)tennis

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 13:00:58

Roof is on now Witt yes.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:01:21

sieze - no

(although he occasionally does talk rubbishgrin)

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 13:01:58

But he plays an absolute mean guitar Raahh as well as bonkers tennis... He's just fabulous.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:02:11

grin at the thought of your grown up children stuck in a playpen, like the Rugrats.sieze

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:03:16

Laura is very tallenvy

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 13:06:22

Ohhh, John McEnroe is so fertile....

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 13:06:58

I loved The Rugrats when they were little! Is that still on?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:10:18

I haven't seen the Rugrats for years!
fertile- behave!

Actually, is Dustin playing today? woof....

Covers coming off? They are brave, there's a block of heavy showers behind this main band that looks like it will arrive soon.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:11:21

The covers are off tennis

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:11:49

Frustrating Friday will live up to it's name, I think.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 13:14:16

Raahh Did you just bark? shock

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 13:16:00

although he occasionally does talk rubbishgrin

occasionally?? hmm

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:19:58

Sieze - I didblush It's essential to 'woof' at Dustin.

I'm not quite old enough to be his mother.

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 13:24:01

They keeping touting Robson as having top 10 potential but I thought Watson was supposed to be a more natural player than her with a better game. Have I missed something?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:27:11

Witt I think Watson is better too, personally. I think the couple of years age difference, and Watson's illness has pushed her back a bit. Robson can be very inconsistent.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:29:28

oooh- just seen on my red button channel things that play on the outside may start at 1.30.

Vamos Ferrer!

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 13:29:47

Do you think, watching Robson today is like watching Murray a few years ago when he started coming to prominence, he was younger. His game had a lot of learning/improving to do? Now he is where and what he is. Is Robson of the same material? Are we watching a young player here on a journey to being in top 5 in the world when older?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:30:49

good break back from Laura.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 13:31:15

Oh look, no one is whinnying like a demented goat. Clearly it is possible to play high level women's tennis without the histrionics.

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 13:32:05

Raahh having been lucky enough to see Watson play at the French Open last year, I have to say I prefer her too. Her game is much nicer to watch. I hope she can put the glandular fever behind her quickly and get back to British number one. That said, I obviously hope Robson does well at Wimbledon this year.

JaquelineHyde Fri 28-Jun-13 13:35:33

Oooh Dustin must be playing today <swoon>

Robson is an amazing talent and is really beginning to come into her own. I think if she can avoid injury she has a really good chance of winning Wimbledon one day. Not sure about any of the other slams as I think she needs the home support to really push her on but I would love to be proved wrong.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:36:03

envy Witt at going to RG, I'd love to go there.
Yes, good luck to Robson! We need a woman in the second week.!

Dimitrov and Zemlja are just knocking up.

The warm up maybe longer than the culmination of the matchgrin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:37:39

And ferrer is out!

Now what do I watch??

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:38:31

I mean he's out to play- not out, out, btwgrin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:39:20

Looking good for Laura.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 13:40:02

I actually feel horribly tense watching Laura play. I just want to cuddle her not quite old enough to be her mother but there's not much in it

Radar is fragmenting so it does look to be a case of dodge the showers! One heavyish look one looks set to hit just before 3pm, so they may get this match done?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:40:45

It's raining already sad

JaquelineHyde Fri 28-Jun-13 13:40:48

Dustin is playing today at about 3:30 (so add an hour or two for rain) against Adrian Mannarino from France ranked 111.

Oh sad I was hoping it would scrape by. Hopefully it's just grazing the area.

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 13:43:42

Raahh You should go - it's so much easier to get tickets than for Wimbledon. Such a different atmosphere too - the French are so partisan it's untrue and it's noisy and boisterous. We went twice - once with tickets to one of the show courts and then again just with ground passes. I would say Wimbledon is better at sharing out the singles matches around the show courts and the outside courts. By the first Saturday at RG it was just doubles on the outside courts.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 13:50:02

Now I am showing myself to be an ignoramus, but is it the quarters after this round?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:53:27

Arghhh! dh just rang, I've lost the remote, I'm stuck watching the Dimitrov match and his opponent has just slipped on match point....

What's happening to Laura?

hugoagogo Fri 28-Jun-13 13:54:58

She keeps double faulting, but she is winning 5-4.

She is stressing me out...

hugoagogo Fri 28-Jun-13 13:58:33

She's taken the first set grin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:58:51

It's all very tense in the Dimitrov match.

But I've found the remotegrin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 13:59:05

Go! Laura!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:00:58

Chub- it will be the 3rd round next, then the 4th, then the quarter finals. To win a slam, you have to win 7 matches.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 14:01:47

This is the third round isn't it?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:04:41

No, Chub- this is only her second round.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:12:35

Laura is looking pretty strong- and Zemlja has beaten dimitrov!

I think Zemlja deserved that win, Dimitrov was very quick with the melodrama over the pitch, but Zemlja never slipped once?

Robeson looking good.

Robson DYA

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 14:21:58

Really? I thought she had played twice already.

God I'm confused.

I may just give up posting today, I think it being the last week of school here I will make no sense.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:23:52

It's confusing because most of the 2nd round matches have been played already, but her's was delayed as it was last on, and it rained.

It will her possibly having to play tomorrow too.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:25:04

Taps grin

Zemlja did deserve it- Dimitrov and Sharapova can go off and have a good moan about the state of the courts togethergrin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:26:37

Well, it's not very often it's the British player that wins this easily. grin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:26:54

(though she hasn't won yet)

JaquelineHyde Fri 28-Jun-13 14:29:20

Chub You're not going mad, she is playing in the doubles as well so you have probably seen her in that. grin

Looks like she has got this one wrapped up at least!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:30:05

that was relatively easy- Go, Laura!

Meglet Fri 28-Jun-13 14:30:07

Memo to self; remember to breathe during long match point rallies.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:30:10

Raahh I thought Ferrer was out then!
Good show for Laura.... Managed to do all the ironing throughout that match as well....

JaquelineHyde Fri 28-Jun-13 14:30:25

She is playing in the doubles later today around dinner time weather permitting.

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 14:30:42

She could have made the first set a little less tense for us but a straight sets win, well I won't complain grin

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:30:58

Somebody pass the oxygen over to Meglet

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:31:21

Sorry, sieze- I need to choose my wording more carefullygrin

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 14:31:34

Who are we watching next? Do I need to red button so we're all on the same page?

JaquelineHyde Fri 28-Jun-13 14:32:19

I would personally like to thank Laura for wrapping that up nice and quickly. I can now go on the school run and not put mine and others lives at risk grin

Laura I salute you!

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:37:37

Janowick (spelling?) is up on center next I think then Murray - think I will watch Ferrer till Murray is on?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:37:43

Jacqueline- it was good of hergrin

Am now watching Ferrer, who has finally got a break for this set.

Meglet Fri 28-Jun-13 14:38:10

I'm going to need 2 TV's this weekend aren't I. One set to wimbledon and the other set to glastonbury.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:38:22

And there has just been the most fantastic rallygrin

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:41:43

They are opening the roof on center - when is it going to rain badkitten?
I am on Ferrer now - not literally I hasten to add....

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:43:55

Dh has gone to the dentist. I'm trying to be sympathetic, but his moans of agony are putting me off watchinggrin

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:44:37

I just had to take in a parcel for next door - bloody delivery man....

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 14:46:07

grrrrr...school run

Mama1980 Fri 28-Jun-13 14:47:19

Watching ferrer now, he's looking good

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:48:22

Yes mama Ferrer is a good looking chap grin

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:49:42

Oh no, Agut's bum is bleeding - I shall happily sub some savlon on that...

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:50:26

Rub Savlon.... Rub not sub.... Just the thought got me overexcited!

magimedi Fri 28-Jun-13 14:54:19

I do not understand why they are bothering to open the roof.

As to play starting earlier on Centre & Court 1 (it's 11.30am on all other courts) the reason is down to the corporate boxes who can't/won't finish their lunches before one pm (and not always than). Bloody daft.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 14:56:35

Ohhh, is it that magi? I always thought it was Tv scheduling? But I suppose it snot because we have the red button now and it is on BBC2 from about 11.30, isn't it?

Rain shows imminently on the radar! (Sorry had a friend round)

Rain started. Oh dear but it should stay quite light and hopefully bearable until 3:30 when there's a heavier shower.

Yay! Showers seem to be breaking up as they reach the area. Next potential is 5ish.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 15:39:05

I have just got home (I drenched)-and the first post I read was

'Agut's bum is bleeding'

What's happened??

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 15:41:08

But Stakhovsky has won a set, having looked like he was going to go down with a whimper. Which is good.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 15:54:49

Hi all, have hardly got to see any tennis today - forgot all about it being ds3's sports day until he reminded me this morning! Anyway, not moving from my spot on sofa for a while now.

Agut has a very spanish sounding grunt.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 15:56:16

If Ferrer loses , I will be very, very unhappy indeedsad

But he won't....*vamos ferrer*

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 15:56:35

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 15:57:37

Is the Stakhovsky match on tv?

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:00:25

I had another cunning plan today - haven't watched much tennis but did happen to hear Stakhovsky say he was staying with a family with four dc. Well, I have four dc, I have a spare box room and I have a house. It's not in Wimbledon though ....

BBMs Fri 28-Jun-13 16:00:26

WTF??!! Why is Ferrer struggling so much?!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 16:00:44

Farley- think it's on the red button, but myremote has gone walkies...<scowls at dd2 and wonders where it is now>

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:03:34

Can't find it, only formula 1 racing!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:05:12

Ferrer's pants are too dark, they're showing through his shorts - not that it's distracting me or anything.

Startail Fri 28-Jun-13 16:07:54

Yes I was wondering why Ferrer thought green pants were a good choice.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:08:46

Perhaps it's a style statement.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 16:41:10

Stakhovsky is on 993 if you have Virgin, but he's losing now sad

Mama1980 Fri 28-Jun-13 16:41:16

Does anyone now what's happening in the ferrer match please? Children have commandeered everything so I can't watch

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:42:21

Agut is looking very flushed, hope he's ok.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:44:03

Ferrer is leading 2 sets to 1, it's 4 games all in fourth set. But Agut looks to be struggling a bit fitness wise.

Thanks raahh but don't have virgin. Are you watching it?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 16:49:13

I keep flicking over- to be honest, it's the only good thing about Virgin that i have discovered so fargrin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 16:50:31

Melzer has beaten Stakhovsky. The demise of the giant killers continues....

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 16:53:25

Isn't that quite normal though? They slay a giant in one round and then immediately go out to some unknown in the next one.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 16:56:17

Oh that's a shame about Stakhovsky, but it does seem to be the way of things. Ferrer through. He looks nice with his headband on, but even nicer with it off smile. He is phenomenally fit.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 16:58:17

He is lovely. tennis

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 16:59:17

Witt - it is- and I'm sure Darcis would have gone the same way, had he not pulled out.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:02:57

The pants showing through the shorts thing is obviously a fashion development that has passed me by - I see Almagro is sporting the same look. It's the men's answer to the women's frilly knickers smile

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:04:55

Oh wait - it is on purpose. Or at least I think it is - Almagro has the same kit as Ferrer, whose pants were also on display. Apologies for my fixation on the men's pants!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:09:06

Why does Spain have so many good players? Is it to do with the weather they have maybe?

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 17:09:44

tennis well done Laura. tennis. andFerrer.

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 17:16:52

Almagro out

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:17:08

Janowicz can't half serve well.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 17:21:21

And well done to Tommy Haas- still doing it for the oldiesgrin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 17:26:06

And now it's raining. I don't really understand why they opened the roof in the first place, knowing the forecastconfused

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 17:28:16

I still love Tim Henman

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 17:28:26

Right, just in from work. What match do I need to watch? (If it doesn't start raining again.)

amigababy Fri 28-Jun-13 17:37:27

the weather definitely helps in Spain but also every small town has a smart municipal sports center with tennis, basketball courts, football pitches etc, the nets are left out safely and there just seems to be much more available on a local level for everyone to use

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 17:44:25

Anyone know what time murray is on?

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 17:47:22

Now. Just Walking out on court. Should be a really good match.

NotAQueef Fri 28-Jun-13 17:50:12

<settles in>
Bloody Castle better stop crowning Andy champion already. Don't want commentator's curse to befall him!

hugoagogo Fri 28-Jun-13 17:53:15

I have tea and the dc have pizza.

I am not moving for a while...

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 17:55:11

I just had my nails done while watching so couldn't get on laptop (daughter is a nail tech).
Castle kind of gets on my pip tbh, he's okay in small doses but I wish Boris or McEnroe were commentating...
Here we go......

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 17:56:09

hugo My dc's have pizza too!
Okay - am watching....

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:56:36

Thanks for that amiga, seems to be so many good Spanish players.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:57:06

Centre Court sounds like a swimming pool when the roof is on.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:58:07

I'm not even right sure where my big dsc are! (19, 18 and 15 so not being overly negligent!). Littlest is at friend's house for tea.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 17:58:45

Here we go already with the chanel hopping. Imagine if we didn't have remote controls, we'd all be as fit as anything!

hugoagogo Fri 28-Jun-13 17:59:45

Last night it was hot dogs blush I am a crap mother when the tennis is on.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 17:59:57

Hey Farley mine are 22, 20 and 16 and I know where they are all the time, they are never, ever going to leave home, I swear to God - its like they are glued here. I might have to move out myself... If they do go out they always ring and text, I have no life, none at all!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:01:01

Aw, it's cos they love you innit seize!

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:01:05

Umm, well - I have it on in kitchen but also in living room in case I need to go in there for anything so, I have to run into one room or the other when they change channels.
Ds is in living room with headphones on, on a computer game....

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 18:01:19

farley- grin that is very true. I'd be walking miles a daygrin

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:01:54

love me, my arse - I have dropped numerous hints to elder dd - she works, her partner works - I need a spare room... iIll she go? Will she heck!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:03:18

I'm scared to watch. I may need wine. Is it wine o'clock yet?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:06:06

Yes its its gone 5pm - have wine wine

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 18:06:47

seize no one here likes Castle! we established that on the Queens cub thread, so you're definitely not alone! tennis

Becker makes me laugh, with his swartchzannegger (sp!) voice and stating the obvious! tennis

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:08:12

Ok seize, move it is then smile

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:08:23

game See, I knew I would fit in here when I asked to butt in on Wednesday grin

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:08:38

You're clearly too nice to them seize.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:11:41

Is the serve and volley revival spreading? Is murray signing up?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:15:01

chub Not sure about that - my younger dd's nickname is shitface - has been since, God knows when, forever grin Terrible parenting.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:19:09

Try being extra nice seize - maybe that will frighten them away! Mine are desperate to leave - well, eldest has left really, next is on verge of going, number three has 'plans' in hand, and number four is only 8.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:20:30

Oh that last post makes it sound like I'm extra nice to mine - can assure you (and so can they!) I'm not!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:25:50

True. Clutch them to your bosom every night and sob "never ever leave mummy". You'll barely see them for dust clouds.

Mmmmm steak potato wedges and salad. Nom nom

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:26:17

Think they've got extra security on for Andy.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:30:55

Well the first set was relatively easy for Andy.

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 18:31:59

hows it going? Andy makes me too nervous to watch and minigame wanted to watch Merlin so that's on at the mo.

teejwood Fri 28-Jun-13 18:32:24

Thanks Raaah for the new thread <coming late to the party - busy day>
Anyone else get the feeling in this first set that Murray is both winning and losing the whole thing himself?!

And yeah for Robson getting through earlier - good on her!

Now off to gnaw my fingernails for the next set....

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 18:32:46

Farley what do you mean extra security?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:32:53

Extra security for Andy? Like the security they had in French when that flare man ran on the court with Nadal? I reckon as there is no play because of rain, all the security is in to watch this game.

This may make you all sick but, we all get on too well here, the dc's and I - there is never a cross word, never has been. I have never suffered a slammed door or a tantrum, not even when they were little. I usually say that and hide as I get universally hated. I can't help it, its not me, its them, they are just so nice....

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:32:57

Just won first set

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:34:38

Game - I've only seen big men in suits doing security up to now, but have spotted men in uniform (not policemen) during the game breaks in this set.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:36:19

I doubt three children have spontaneously turned out to be lovely young adults seize. You're mama Walton.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:37:22

Hello teej We made them save Murray for you, for after work smile

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 18:37:53

ooookaaaay. will pop back on match as soon as merlins finished.

could be case theres no play outside and they've all come in out of the rain? hope its just that. tennis

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:38:39

No chub I can't take the credit. I have just been incredibly lucky.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:39:14

My eyesight is so bad and my tv so small I can't see the score

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:39:28

Naturally, there's not one to be seen now to prove my point!

seize - the commentators in that Nadal match were raving about how good the security men were - all I could think was they weren't that good, since not only had the guy actually got on to the court, he had actually got into the venue with that flare, which was pretty big.

Your dc sound lovely - come and exert some good influence over mine!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:41:30

Ooh, I can see one now!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:41:57

What is the score?

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:42:05

But the big men in suits have disappeared.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:42:47

Score is 2 games to 1 to Murray in second set (he's broken serve already)

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:43:44

That was so tasty. Morrisons do the nicest rib eye steak.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:43:49

3 games to 1 now.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:44:24

I am such a tennis officienado. You should drum me off these threads really

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:46:51

I don't know a whole lot Chub, have just been an enthusiastic spectator for many years!

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:47:32

Can't you sit closer to the Tv chub?
This feels like a damp squib after Wednesdays evening Federer match... We have been spoiled too early I fear...

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:48:29

I would have to rearrange furniture. And that would involve moving.

Maybe when my glass needs refilling.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:50:21

Andy's making it all look a bit easy isn't he?

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 18:50:49

Or did I speak too soon?

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 18:53:36

No I think he's OK

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:56:07

chub I love rearranging furniture.... And cleaning! Dc's call me Monica, from Friends...

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 18:58:41

Another dash through rooms to change channels!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:02:50

seize - whilst you are exerting good influence over my dc, could you do some cleaning too?!

YoniMontana Fri 28-Jun-13 19:03:10

Why is the one show on bbc one and two??!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:03:53

it isn'tconfused

hugoagogo Fri 28-Jun-13 19:05:19

Why the hell do the bbc keep switching it?
It drives me around the bend, just leave it on 2 and stop fannying about. [red]

YoniMontana Fri 28-Jun-13 19:07:02

Ah my mistake stupid sky planner said one show for both!

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:07:56

farley Yes! I will clean. As I am watching this game I have the terps out and am cleaning all the plastic on windows and back door! Its like a compulsion but not OCD.... I don't flip out because of a mess and my tins in cupboard are in no way organised! I just can't sit still, ever. I have to be making things clean. This is perhaps why I can't get dc's to leave home - its always clean, the washing is always done and i am always flipping happy doing it.

Hello, we'll that's my working week over! Not back until Tuesday (was meant to be working Monday but they swapped me in for today.)

Watching Murray! Has he been playing well?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:12:06

You know, I am always deeply suspicious when things appear to be going right..... I have a sense of foreboding about how smoothly Murray is going this week.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:14:51

I love a tumble-toss. Its been years since I have been able to do one.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:17:22

I so wish I was like that sieze! I try to keep on top of things but can't pretend to enjoy it in any way. And I have no problem keeping still!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:22:45

Good job they don't play tennis with cricket balls - some of those shots coming at the speed they do would kill you!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:22:51

i move so rarely, I have DFS permanently stamped on my bum.

Vamos Robredo , because i like you.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:28:11

It took me a while to understand what DFS meant raahh Not the brightest spark here. And wait till Ferrer finds out you're cheating on him.

Aside from tennis - I have a pine kitchen bench to win on Ebay in 20 mins... Its on my phone so I can stay on Mn on laptop. And watch tennis on Tv. Fingers crossed.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:32:48

Suddenly things aren't going very well.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:38:09

Well I am cheating on ferrer and nadal now, by watching dustin grin

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:39:14

I think you have a thing for Spanish men raahh!

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:39:44

Ooh, how's Dustin doing?

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:39:55

Kim looks not pleased.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:40:33

Raahh is a floozie.... grin

Witt Fri 28-Jun-13 19:41:43

has anyone ever camped overnight for centre court tickets?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:42:26

chub There was a thing on the radio, taking bets about Wimbledon. One of the bets was Murray wins Wimbledon then proposes to Kim on court... Maybe she plonked a hefty odds bet on it herself?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:42:31

I do seem to have a thing for Spanish men!
Brown lost his first setsad

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 19:42:59

I will be watching Dustin if Murray can wrap this up quickly.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:46:19

I joined the queue at 2am-ish a couple of times Witt about twenty years ago! Was contemplating doing it with ds1 this year, but firstly he read somewhere that the queues were bigger than ever, and secondly, the forecast for yesterday and today (which is when we wanted to go) was bad, so we wimped out!

sieze - I was thinking the other day about how Nadal, Murray and Djokovic all have long-term girlfriends, and wondering why they haven't married them yet!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:46:31

I did wonder if he would do that if he won last year, but to be fair perhaps they have no intention of marrying ever hope she's persuaded him to make a will.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:48:06

Those four guys wearing the ANDY t-shirt - what if there'd only been three of them?! Did they have a contigency plan do you think?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:48:14

I won my pine bench thingie! Hurrah!
Federer is married, yes? I kind of like his wife, she's the most normal looking of the lot - ie: she looks like a woman not a model.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:48:43

Yes farley Tim!!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:50:22

Feds is married. So is Hewitt. Henman is married too I think, couple of kids? I'm just saying we shouldn't presume they are "just" boyfriend/girlfriend they may be lifelong partners with no plans to wed.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:51:35

Djoko and Murray are only 26, and Rafa, 27- so there's plenty of time to get married, I suppose.

Dustin is very rattled by a line call, and keeps wittering to the Umpire. This irritation may lose him the match.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:52:27

Tiger tim has three kids according to wiki

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:52:30

Federer's daughters are extremely cute.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:53:00

Woah, go tiger Timgrin

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:53:15

Think Robredo's time is running out ...

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:53:17

Dustin - dreadlock man? He was a cheery soul in his other match? Is the weather upsetting him maybe? A long wait, a late start?

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:54:03

And Hewitt's son is sooo cute. Wasn't Hewitt's wife an actress?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:54:39

Dustin was convinced a callwas wrong- and will not let it go. It's really thrown his game. But- Mannarino is playing very well.

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:54:53

The net is our friend tonight!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:55:04

sieze- she was in 'Home and Away'

<sings theme tune>

She was Hayley in home and away seize! grin I know my soaps!

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:55:27

Will watch Dustin if Murray closes this out now.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:55:38

Poor dusty. John McEnroe actually fed off getting antsy, normal people just rattle themselves.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:55:43

How do they measure the serve speed?

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:55:58

Come on andy

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:56:00

Yes! Oh my God, she was Glaik You're right!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:56:17

Match point. Come on

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 19:56:35

It certainly is, seize.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:56:40

siezethenight Fri 28-Jun-13 19:56:51

McEnroe is commentating on Dustin? Oh, do hurry up Murray! Oh! He won! Hurrah - I am off to Dustin.

Radar gun, Farley, like the bobbies use to catch you speeding!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:57:35

Chub- to be honest, that's always been Murray's problem, getting antsy. He would get annoyed, and lose it. It's one of the biggest things he's had to overcome <in my opinion> , and the reason i never took to watching him.

Where us dustin?

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 19:57:53

What does he chuck into the crowd after every match? His sweat bands?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:58:51

No, Mac isn't commentating on Dustin. It's Sam Smith- and a bloke.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:58:52

I did think it must be that Glaik but seemed a bit prosaic somehow.

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 19:58:52

Yes! just switched on as he had match point.

having said that I have a bi of a crushy on Robredo!!! tennis

thought itd be a tougher match, so well doneAndy

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 19:59:03

Could be Tim.

Ach my red button isn't working

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 19:59:30

Dustin is on the red button.

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 19:59:39

Ivan Lendl's pretty much sorted that out for him. There was a point where I thought he'd never win a slam, which would have been a huge waste of his talent.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:00:05

Andy chucks tim Henman into the crowd?

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 20:00:20

Oh well he's losing anyway Glaik

Fixed it, have they changed the look of the red button?

BBMs Fri 28-Jun-13 20:01:25

Happy coz Andy won but at the same time, a little sad for Robredo... He played very well.

FarleyD Fri 28-Jun-13 20:01:36

No, Ivan's cured him of doing that Chub! I do love cross posts!

The guy playing dustin looks a bit like jimmy carr!

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:02:55

i HATE the red button. It is pants. But since discovering i can watch it via proper channels, my life is calmer.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:03:53

Dustin isn't smiling much today...sad

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 20:04:15

well done seize with the bench! and I agree about fedups wife, shes normal looking. the rest are all plastic! tennis.

Can I do that on sky? Watch on a proper channel that is?

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:05:35

Not sure about Sky. glaikit

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:06:10

I think he has overcome it though. He cocked up a few shots there (more than a few) but there was none of the stomping around the baseline swearing under his breathe that he's been guilty of in the past. He was very focussed.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:07:37

I'm now watching the Magnus opus that is Wimbeldon starring Paul bettany.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:09:46

grin Chub- Wimbledon was a terrible filmgrin(made Dh watch it)though I love Paul Bettany.

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 20:09:51

Still has a bit of a tendency to lose concentration, but you can really tell the difference in his attitude when he end up a set down.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:11:18

It's my biggest guilty pleasure. Paul bettany and James mcavoy? It's just ace.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:11:45

Clay-definitely, he did that even as recently as his final at Queen's.

I don't think Dustin will winsad

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 20:12:09

whats Brown doing today? completely diff player from his last match! tennis

come on!

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 20:13:11

Poor Dustin. sad

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:13:24

he issad

There's just no atmosphere....

Foot fault- that will annoy him. Edberg used to get a lot of those, curse of the serve/volleyer i guess.

It's a but dull this match.

MirandaWest Fri 28-Jun-13 20:14:14

He's got very skinny arms

hugoagogo Fri 28-Jun-13 20:14:14

Paul Bettany is delish. <swoon>

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:14:42

it's also getting dark. Dustin needs it to go pitch black/or rain. he might then come back smiling tomorrow <hopeful>

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:15:24

He should actually be a proper tennis player.

Or my husband. Either would do.

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 20:15:47

The need to call it off for light. Come back tomorrow with a different frame of mind.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:15:51

Peter Peter Colt

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:15:57

chub grin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:18:00

there are shrieky women watching Dustin. Shoot them.

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 20:19:04

It wasn't so much a shriek as a really weird laugh.

What's with all the chattering in the background? Bad manners surely!

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:19:27

Right then

He is just so bloody attractive

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:19:49

Clay- shoot them anyway.

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 20:21:29

I agree. Was confused then hmm

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:22:07

I really want to know where he found a proper chippy near the Dorchester.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:22:45

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:24:50

Do the tennis WAGS get much do you think? They play almost constantly. If they go on a sex ban before a match they can't have much sex really.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:26:25

It's a consideration, before committing to being a tennis WAG.

Chubfuddler Fri 28-Jun-13 20:27:12

They probably get more than me tbh.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:28:14

yeah- stop taking pictures- AND SHUT THE FUCK UP

ClayDavis Fri 28-Jun-13 20:29:13

Tbh, I'd be taking pictures of Dustin.

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:31:18

<whispers> -me too grin

Raahh Fri 28-Jun-13 20:40:31

Poor Dustin- but well done Mannarino.

GameSetAndMatch Fri 28-Jun-13 20:46:49

Dustin was completely dull today! forgot his mojo completely.

magimedi Fri 28-Jun-13 22:22:07

I am developing a slow fondness of a weird crush for Jerzy Janowicz. He is just such an amazing player & is at least one inch taller than my DH!

Minimammoth Fri 28-Jun-13 23:21:45

Missed most of the action today but reading thread has caught me up on things. So marking place.

Going to be a lovely 3 days weather wise smile tomorrow on court it might get a bit too warm, with temps in the area around 24C (but warmer in those sun traps)

Tuesday there's a moderate chance of some showers or rain and cooler.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 08:23:34

After drooling over the lovely (and fictional) Peter Peter Colt, Wimbeldon Champion, am looking forward to more of the real thing.

Come on Laura!

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 08:46:22

No work, so today is the day I'm going to get to watch Laura play.

Come on Laura!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 09:20:50

Morning peeps!
My red button did not work last night either and my laptop died the death of too much Mn-ing.

I am off to find out what time it all kicks off today as I have to get my Nan (94 so telling her to get the bus is not ongrin) And take her to my mothers where she is stopping till Monday.
Its really lovely here, sunny wise - but South Wales... We have had torrential rain and storms before now when tennis at Wimbledon has been drenched in hot sunshine. badkitten Does the weather generally come from us to London?

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 09:26:33

By the way - my 20 year old declared us all insane and completely without lives last night. Because of tennis and forum chatting about tennis while watching tennis... All together. But separately. Yeah, that's what he said. I retorted, of course I do not have a life - Huh, you and your sisters stole it from me in the year 1991 when first born came then you then the shitface.... Give it back immediately - move out! I can pack a bag in under 40 seconds and its handily just under the stairs by the door... He laughed and patted my head as if I were an errant dog.

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 10:06:37

Oooooh Laura Robson is on Court 2 today. Not sure what I'd think of that if I had centre court or court 1 tickets.

DeathMetalMum Sat 29-Jun-13 10:20:52

Anyone have any idea of order of play? I may actually get to watch a decent amount today. I've only really managed to watch one full match so far... been rather busy for some reason.

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 10:40:34

Order of play for today

JaquelineHyde Sat 29-Jun-13 10:52:08

Aaaaaargh Summer Fayre hell today! 12pm until I die (so about 12:15)

Can't believe I am going to miss hours of Wimbledon, including Laura's match AND I am going to miss the Grand Prix qualifying shock

I don't know why I ever had children!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 11:48:55

Bit late today- and I'll miss loads too, due to the stupid village festival-and the field will be a swamp after the rain yesterday . <grumpy>

Am counting on the 2 matches on court 1 (why hasn't Ferrer been on centreangry) taking long enough for me to get back to see David.

Some really interesting looking match ups, which could/should be classics.
Haas/Lopez, Haas inamazing form at the moment. And Gulbis/Verdasco.

Fleming/Marray in the doubles too.

Go Laura!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 11:50:35

And I forgot Tomic/Gasquet, 1pm on centre- that should be good, if Tomic can keep his temper.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 11:53:23

Ooh gasquet.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 11:56:55

Is Laura Robsons match not being televised? She's on now isn't she.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 12:02:27

And I would love kimiko to beat serena. I'd actually trade a murray win for that if it was up to me.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 12:05:44

Laura is second on court 2- I imagine it will be televised, but it's Troicki/Youzhny first, and that might be long-ish.

And yes it would be brilliant if Kimiko beat Serena!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 12:24:20

sieze - just saw what your dc saidgrin

I absolutely concede I have no like. Village fetes don't countangry

right- I'm off....

teejwood Sat 29-Jun-13 12:29:47

Summer Fayre hell here too so will miss most of the play sad V inconsiderate...

Fingers crossed for Laura - really impressed with her play so far. And really delighted for Murray winning last night!

Chub - agree I'd like Serena to be beaten but no to trading Murray win shock

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 12:31:29

She's just so self satisfied. Totally different to her marvellous sister who I love.

teejwood Sat 29-Jun-13 12:31:39

And seize good luck for getting your nan sorted in time to get back for the matches you want to see!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 12:42:29

Morning all. I too have no life, and I like it that way!

My man is on court 12 today, sincerely hope they show it or I will have nasty withdrawal pains.

House nice and quiet at minute as dh and two ds's out watching Lions, dd out shopping and ds3 playing with friend. I expect this state of affairs to last precisely until a match I reeally want to watch begins!

To those of us village-fete-ing or doing other domestic duties - hope all runs smoothly and you're all back in time for the important business of the day smile

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 12:58:06

My Nan is safely deposited in mothers house. She has her slippers on, her Mills & Boon by her side along with Maltesers and giant Kit Kats. She's sent my mother out to buy her knickers grin and she is happy.
I am home.
I am switching on Telly and going to have to organise my tall bookshelf thing while I wait for Robson to begin as, we all know, I can't sit still and have to be doing something.
Oh - dd of the elder variety is giving me a massage now, I really have hurt my shoulders in sleep last night confused
I'm ser to go, som New Balls Please and lets get cracking....

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:10:13

I've been out this morning, bought a new bedside table and a cushion, done two loads of washing and got it dry, mowed the lawn and had a Caesar salad with homemade dressing.

I am now going to slump.

Ooh this is nice. And he looks a bit phwoar frankly.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:10:35

No pressure andy.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:11:54

And no pressure laura! She's got to play in front of all that.

Don't choke laura don't choke.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 13:13:40

Your Nan sounds like my kind of girl seize! Impressed by your level of industry chub. Andy scrubs up well doesn't he?

How can I watch Del Potato live on the ipad? Or can't I? I'll cry if I can't.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:14:40

Oh Laura isn't on centre. OK probably just as well with all that pomp going on

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:15:25

Try the BBC sport app Farley. I think there are more courts shown on there than on the red button

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 13:16:07

Oh here I am, sitting and minding my own business in the sitting room, when I glance out of the window to see a cloud of white powder cascading down. Shout out to ds and his friend to ask what they're doing, and get the cover-all answer of "messing around". Better go and investigate ...

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 13:16:39

Thanks Chub.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:17:04

At least they're honest about it.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 13:18:42

chub You are a machine! Good God, what a lot of stuff you have done this morning.

Watched the ceremony thing, got quite choked up. Poor Andy though, such a weight of expectation on his shoulders...

I have no idea what time Robson is on, anybody know?

Farley Its the baby powder, they have tipped it all out the bathroom window!

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 13:21:18

Seize, she's the second game on court 2. The first one is men's singles do could be long.

I'll be rooting for Laura today!!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 13:22:17

I can't find court two on red button? Do you think regular Tv will switch from current court to Laura when she comes on?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:22:19

Tbh it's felt like quite a lazy morning. I had breakfast in bed (DCs at ex husband's). It was lush.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 13:27:26

My dc's aside from elder are not even up from bed yet!!

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 13:30:11

I'm confident they will show Laura's game. They had better as I can't find court 2 on red button either.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:30:29

What?! My mum would have ripped the duvet off me hours ago.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 13:33:12

Mystery white cloud was flour and icing sugar confused. Have handed them the dustpan and brush and returned to my position in front of tv.

Chub - did you have to get your own breakfast, or is there a nice kind person on hand who brought it to you?!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:37:58

No I got my own. I took it, MN, and a mug of tea on a tray back up to bed and sat in my beautiful (see previous thread on subject) bed and sat there smiling to myself.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:39:26

They're going to switch to Laura's march when it starts

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 13:50:13

Youzhny/Tomic match has finished. Laura should be up very soon.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 13:50:29

Oh good because my red button might be faulty, I have car racing but no tennis.... Car racing? I can go to the nearest main road here and watch car racing...

I would not dream of waking the dc's up chub as far as I am concerned, the longer they sleep the quieter it remains and the later they stay up tonight meaning I go to bed earlier so therefore hardly see them at all throughout long summer holidays. As it should be....

Icing sugar and flour? Sneaky pair must have got past you, into kitchen, robbed them and gone upstairs with them. I like that sort of cheekiness, it shows great determination to be mischievous. I for one, like mischievous small people, they make me laugh!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 13:51:10

On the red button there's then a blue button option to switch between the racing and tennis

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 13:57:50

Tried that chub I get racing then BBC 2 coverage - oh hang on, bbc2 are going to Laura now... Panic over.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 14:11:59

Hope that fall wasn't bad. Come on Laura you can do this.

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 14:15:39

Not a good start. Come on Laura!!!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 14:16:31

confused come on Laura, buck up... You can do it!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 14:20:55

Could the Laura Robson who played all those aces in the first round match please make her way to court number 2.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 14:21:04

This is a really inappropriate time for my Dad to call. Knew I should have unplugged the phone!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:22:59

She's a bit of a slow starter I think.

sieze - I'm all for a bit of mischief, just not whilst there's tennis on! Are you anywhere near Swansea?

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:23:24

You didn't answer did you clay?!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 14:23:34

Farley I am in Swansea... Are you!?

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 14:26:32

Stupidly I did. He hasn't noticed I'm not really paying attention to what he's saying.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:26:47

Not any more sieze, but it's where I call home! Lived in Sketty.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:27:59

Clay - if you're talking to you're Dad, watching tennis and mnetting, then I'm truly impressed by your multi-tasking skills!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:28:33

"your Dad", not "you're" blush

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:29:14

Non performance from Laura. She's nervous maybe.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 14:30:14

Come on Laura. Get in the zone.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 14:30:29

God, I used to live in Sketty when with my ex! In Gorseinon now. Tycoch is where I and my son go to college - I am training in Holistics and Sports Massage from September. Fancy that... Shame you are not still here, we could be tennis watching together with plenty of alcohol and ignoring all offspring! Where did you move to?

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 14:31:58

Ohhh, Laura....

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 14:32:21

grin. He can pretty much carry on a conversation on his own so I only need to add 'yep' and 'hmm' every now and again. He has hung up now though.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 14:33:21

Come on Laura!

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 14:33:25

Yess!! Come on Laura!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 14:33:43

That ace was more like it.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 14:34:44

The net is our friend again.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:36:02

I used to have piano lessons in Gorseinon! What school did you go to? I went to Olchfa for sixth form, but I'm probably a lot older than you! Moved away to Plymouth initially, but living about ten miles outside London now. Had a friend who lived on that long hill in Tycoch with the fab view, can't remember the name now (of the road, not the friend!).

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 14:41:25

I think its called Tycoch Road lol! Seriously, I think it is, very imaginative of them. Its the Hill from Hell to us in winter, its a nightmare to get car safely up and down it.
I am 42 so, old, old to be re-training anyhow.

I went to Penyrheol school unfortunately, horrible school. Sent my lot to Gwyr, the Welsh school in Gowerton aside from son who has Aspergers, he was in a special school all the way through school, he's super brainy with computers hence his being 20 and in college still, he had to go to the special needs unit in Tycoch before his IT courses began to acclimatize to 'normal' educational surroundings. Its why I have waited until now to retrain, because I can be at the same place as he is and its no bother to go see him if he needs me.
I lived on Sketty Road when with the ex, the long road, always bloody busy.

I'm very concerned for Laura.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:42:13

Oh, road in Tycoch was called Pastoral Way!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 14:49:34

Oh, different road then? Tycoch college is on Tycoch Road, that's right next to the hill you mean. Duh... I pay no actual attention do I? If I ever break down I am stuffed as I will never know what road I am on.

I want to give Laura a big hug sad

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 14:53:42

Oh Laura. Get your finger out.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 14:56:39

Sports massage sounds good, and I hope your ds does well in his IT course, sure he will if he's super brainy and has you on hand if he needs you! You're not too old at all.

Laura not having such a good day is she? Hope she can make something of this match and not let Erakovic have it all her own way.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 14:57:02

She's got a doubles match to play as well today.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:01:17

Court two - Death Court....

Thanks farley

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 15:01:40

Not sure I can watch this, think I'm a jinx. My man is up next on court 12, off to investigate the app coverage! Keep me posted!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:03:02

Come on Laura.

I've decided I don't like number 2 court.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:05:20

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 15:06:31

Last chance Laura. Come on!!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:08:17

Is pressure getting to erakovic? Hope so

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:08:29

Yes it is

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:09:42

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 15:10:01

YES. Come on Laura!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:10:53

Hiding behind cushion... Can't watch....

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:12:02

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:12:23

And I need a wee but I don't dare leave the tv

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 15:12:59

I can barely watch either

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:13:14

Laura! Come along now girl

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:13:33

Laura has lovely legs you know... Darn her.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 15:14:12

Told you I was a jinx, ever since I stopped watching she's picked up.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:14:24

This is tense... Really tense.
Go to the loo now chub and be quick!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 15:14:46

She does sieze doesn't she, I was thinking the same thing earlier!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:15:17

Farley In that case, do not switch back for a few minutes... She has to win this game to get 2nd set....

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:17:50

I actually really need a wee but if I go upstairs to the loo Laura will lose the set.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:18:45

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:19:26

Now I can wee

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 15:19:26

Bloody hell that's close.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:19:52

Yeah! That was great - good for her.... So happy for her.

What's going on on the other court Farley? All that screaming we can hear?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:21:10

That feels better

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 15:21:11

OMG, I'm definitely not watching the third set!

trixymalixy Sat 29-Jun-13 15:21:22

What a time to double fault!! Go Laura!!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:22:06

I've made coffee - I never have coffee after 3pm... I need coffee...
Settling down for set three....

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:22:41

I like that Laura dresses for matches as an athlete not a fashion plate but she does have a lovely figure

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 15:23:12

Don't know sieze, I have court 12 lined up on the app and the match has just finished, so am getting very excited about imminent arrival of my man! BUT, I can't get any sound on it - more than happy just to gaze adoringly though!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:23:14

I've got wine

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:24:49

I would have gone to look after the dogs for Laura's mum! grin

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:25:16

I wish erakovic no ill but if she could just sprain her ankle that would be grand

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:25:25

What time/court is Djock on?

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:25:59

wine You can tell the kids have gone for the day.....

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:26:25

Serve collapsing? Good

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:26:56

Remember that massive list of productivity earlier

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 15:29:07

Screw that list up and ignore it, chub.

DeathMetalMum Sat 29-Jun-13 15:29:17

Just caught the end of the second set, and now Laura's broken again. Come on Laura!!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:29:51

Hurrah! I am home.

Not as bad as I expected, didn't lose any children, and it didn't rain.Worst part- not signal on my phone for 3 HOURS <sob>

Go laura!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:30:02

I've done the list that's the point. My reward is slump + sofa + TV + wine

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:33:20

Brilliant rally

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:34:49

chub Utterly fair point. Get the wine out. I applaud you.

Go Laura!!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:35:18

I really really want her to come through this.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:35:41

Double fault. Serve is looking wobbly

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:36:22

I'm on my second glass

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:37:36

I just went outside to do some housewifery stuff (check third load of washing now on line) and stood on a snail. In bare feet.

Clearly I am supposed to stay on the sofa.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:38:22

Look at the crowds! Brilliant stuff.

C'mon Laura!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:38:45

Chub- it's am an omengrin

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:39:09

I can't go check my washing till this finishes.
As for snail kill - I agree, you must remain on the couch... Get back on it, pour more wine.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 15:39:36

Can't argue with the fates, chub.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:42:42

She's actually really bloody good isn't she?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:43:38

Come on Laura. Shut this down

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:44:45

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 15:46:00

Come on Laura. Hold it together and keep calm.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:49:11

Finish her off Laura.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 15:50:18

A few more of those, please.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:51:28

Six aces on the trot please

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:52:23

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:52:40

This is actually hurting

blibblibs Sat 29-Jun-13 15:52:54

Isn't it lovely watching a Ladies match without all the noise.

I'd forgotten they could be exciting smile

DeathMetalMum Sat 29-Jun-13 15:53:19

Oh yes please for the aces. Tense is certainly the word. So close now.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:53:37

Little grunts completely acceptable

Whinnying not acceptable

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:54:03

Four will do it now

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:54:35

A break here would be most welcome.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:55:20

hides behind fingers

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:55:55

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:56:15

Match point

DeathMetalMum Sat 29-Jun-13 15:56:22

Great shot!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:56:44

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:57:22

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:57:50

Oh fuck a duck

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 15:58:05

Right- hold your nerve, and serve it out Laura!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:58:57

I'd love her to serve this out

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:59:20

Some of these strokes are amazing

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 15:59:41

I need a pampers.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 15:59:47

Come on

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:00:24

She's so good

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:01:00

Don't funk now

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:01:19

Match point

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:01:21

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:01:38

For the love of actual God..... YEAH!!!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:01:45

You angel

DeathMetalMum Sat 29-Jun-13 16:01:48

Yes!!!!!!!! tennis

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:02:01

Brilliant shot to end on- go laura!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:02:14

That was bloody brilliant.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:03:00

Pulling that back after playing so badly in the 1st set is the sign of a great player.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:03:17

I love these balls.

Wow! Just turned it back on after leaving robson a set and a break down! You go girl! Last 16 at wimbles is fab! grin

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:03:31

We will have to go through all this angst again next week now grin

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:04:27

Love her. Posing for photos and doing signatures.

I know they all do that but it's like she's playing grown up tennis star

You are a tennis star now laura.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:04:30

I love your balls Raahh!
So, whose up next?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:04:49

Getting my butt kicked

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:06:07

Younger dd has decided we are all a fellowship, a cult - an online tennis cult... She's very impressed at our total dedication and just how seriously we all take this... tennis to our cult!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:08:05

Tell her to put the Hoover round

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:08:07

tennis to the cult

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:09:54

Could she get into the quarters?

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:10:45

I think she could. She'd meet Serena in the QF though so that might be it for her.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:10:51

Whose hoovering?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:12:10

I can hear hoovering too!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:13:04

raises a wine <- pimms to the Cult

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:13:08

Is Djock on after this match on center?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:14:13

Kimiko is going to beat serena. I have cosmically ordered it.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:14:27

Djoko is on third- there's a womens match first- Lisicki/Stisur

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:14:33

God is gasquet still on court?

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:14:44

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:15:23

Chub- it shall be so. otherwise, a snail was squished in vain.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:16:06

Stosur next on centre, then Djok

Huh, squashed snails? Were you spying on ds this morning? Bless he doesn't know his own strength, he was only giving them a hug!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:19:07

Tomic with match points.

I am quite fond of Gasquet, though.

As gasquet seeded?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:20:34

Poor little gasquet. I want to put him in my pocket

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:20:48

Oh, great, so a Djock evening game? Thank God, I mean, now the Voice is over, I was wondering what the heck I was going to actually watch tonight!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:20:50

Stop enjoying yourselves whilst I'm busy lusting after watching del Potato smile.

Well done Laura - of course, she only won thanks to my dedication in not watching her.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:20:57

10th I think

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:22:19

Anderson/Berdych are taking their time. Ferrer will never get on tonight at this ratesad

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:22:23

9th actually

Are djok and murray the only seeds left?

I laugh at the fact they are clearly just scribbling a wiggle on thos balls! The kids will never know who's autograph it is! tennis

I heard about berdych needing painkillers administered. How is he doing?

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:25:56

Can't find Del Potato's match. sad He's won the first set, though.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:26:40

Have you got an ipad or iPhone raah? It might be on the BBC sport app

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:26:55

BBC live text has Djok starting at about 5.30. It'll almost certainly be later than that because Lisicki/Stosur hasn't started yet.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:28:08

It's on the BBC website, Raahh. Don't know about the app.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:28:32

Chub-Don't forget FERRER!!!

There are 6 seeds left out of the top 20- Djoko, Murray, Ferrer, berdych, Del potato, Tommy Haas, and a few others.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:30:00

It's on the bbc sport app Raah - don't know about these tennis players but I can tell you all I'm struggling with my co-ordination. Watching Del Potato on my phone because cant get sound on my ipad, mnetting (inbetween drooling) on ipad, and flicking round tv channels in case it comes on there. I'm exhausted.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:30:04

Whoever is interviewing andy, SHUT UP

You're not helping

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:30:05

Andy Murray does Pilates - wish we had a giggle till you can't breath symbol!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:31:12

Pilates gives you abs of steel if you do it right

It's bloody hard. I did it to recover from a horrific back injury. I should start again it's hardcore

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:31:32

Farley- it's an extreme sport, watching multiple Wimbledon matches whilst mn-ing. We should get medals.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:32:05

My iPhone wants to call him ferret which is funny

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:34:26

he is lovely. Nadal is still my number one player, amongst the dozen Spanish players I likegrin- but Ferrer is a very close second.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:34:54

Don't know about medals, but I now have a tennis spectating injury. It certainly is an extreme sport.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:35:12

We so should get medals. Or at least wine/tea. Or perhaps exclusive access to the players? <hopeful>

We have to go out tonight. How acceptable would it be to turn up after play has finished for the day?!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:36:18

Just caught glimpse of Stosur - she's wearing sun glasses, never seen that before.

Well, obviously I've seen people wearing sun glasses before, just not tennis players.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:44:43

Are they white?

Are we all spent after the Robson match? God the stress.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:48:30

No, very fetching red and yellow they were smile.

I'm stressing for del Potato, although he's doing ok. Should make the ultimate sacrifice and stop watching him really but going to live dangerously ...

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:50:59

Talking of the sun glasses, did anyone see Dustin wearing a white rasta hat earlier?! I had been speculating whether he had one specially for Wimbledon, and lo and behold, there he was, modelling it beautifully.

Second set of Del Potato and Zjemlr into tie break now.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:51:00

I did not know Pilates was hard. Okay then... Giggle till I can't breath symbol scrapped. I don my cap instead....
Raahh is off again I see.... We best get some tennis on quick otherwise she'll be gagging over every Spanish player known to woman! grin

Farley Given we are officially a cult now, we ought to all go to next year's middle Saturday, sit on Henman Hill and get really rather squishy on wine.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:51:30

Spelt Zmelja wrong, sorry.

Medals for all!

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:52:15

God that would be great. A MN meet up on Henman hill/murray mount

As in zmelja later??

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:52:50

No not Henman Hill seize, the Royal Box surely?

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:53:36

sieze- grin

glaikit- thank you for the medal.

I need a drink. i only have vodka. It's too early for vodka, isn't it?

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:53:49

They would never let us into the royal box - far too rowdy....

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 16:54:33

I think vodka is fine

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:54:34

Its 5pm - vodka time.....

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 16:55:28

They wouldn't know what had hit them if they let us in the royal box.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:55:32

It's not too early if you pretend it's lemonade.

If they were getting uppity about mo farra taking a picture then we won't be allowed in the royal box! They would certainly frown upon us mningduring play!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:56:42

The time I got to go (courtesy of my friend's dad, who works there), we had seats in the members bit , just behind the Royal box. There were no Royals- but Cliff Richard was there. Saw Lyndsey Davenport lose to Conchita Martinez. (was a long time ago)grin

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:56:52

Hey, I can be as lady-like as the rest of them occasionally.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:58:09

Given that by this time last week, I'd had 3 large cocktails and the equivalent of half a bottle of champagne, I'm not even sure why I'm questioning the vodka!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:58:17

I like it when I am frowned upon....
They let Murray into the royal box and he had a gob full of food shock

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 16:59:09

Murray is uncouth.

Not like my Ferrer....grin

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 16:59:32

Yay! Del Potato just won second set. He obviously doesn't know I'm watching him.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 16:59:44

Ohhhh Raahh You are quickly becoming my favourite!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 17:00:11

Shhhhh Farley

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:00:17

Raahh - were you there during the infamous Cliff sing-song?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 17:00:34

But he did look gorg in that suit

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:03:14

Blimey, really think they should have some sort of, er, protection the speed some of those balls fly around at.

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 17:04:55

Raahh probably started Cliff off singing....

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:06:34

Yes she probably had a sniff of vodka, and off she went!

Just out of interest seize, did you have your dc at Singleton (apologies to the rest of you for random question!). Both my M and D worked there.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:07:47

No- it didn't rain the year (94?) . he mercifully didn't singgrin

Go Del potato!

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:09:36

Hah, commentator on Del Potato just said about Del Potato "what a position to be in, balls in hand and off we go!" Couldn't agree more!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:14:12

balls in hand

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 17:14:22

This doesn't look good for del Potato.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:15:01

Oh-have got Del Potato on my red button- and he's hurt himselfshock

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 17:17:19

I did farley Had all three there. If they were there, they will recall me - I am the one who was told on each occasion that I was not in labour and go home... Each time I had given birth within 10 mins of being told that... I shot them all out, like peas... Literally. They were tiny babies though.
My 22 year old is having a baby in 6 weeks time, she was in Singleton Hospital Maternity last Monday night as they could not find a heartbeat shock All ended well though grin.... This is why I keep telling her and partner - guys, really, time to move out now, yeah?? You both work, you are engaged, I love you tons but - come onnnnn.....

I can't find Del Potato.... Again with the red button. I am going to flounce soon then write a strongly worded letter of complaint to the red button man.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:18:07

Nooooo! Del Potato just fell and hurt his knee, bless him. Was lying flat on his face but he's up now. He really needs someone to rub it better ...

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:18:10

2 more games, Del Potato!! 2 more games!

Don't you dare default!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 17:20:46

Well, I think you are the closest farley So off you go, take the deep heat and rub it all better!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:24:21

oh heck!

nasty fall, over all the chairs. He's so tall.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:32:29

Been so worried about Del Potato, didn't even realise the Ferrer match had started! He's doing ok,though!

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 17:33:48

Farley I have been on Centre Court for an infamous Cliff sing-a-long. My mum, who I had taken along, got all excited - more so than at the tennis hmm That was 2001 I think. It was the year Ivanisevic played Henman in the semis and we had tickets for ladies finals day but only saw less than an hour of the men's semis instead (then we got our money back!)

I'm definitely up for a Henman Hill jolly next year tennis

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:36:51

That Henman/Ivanisevic match was stressful. He was so close. Was glad Goran won in the end- the Rafter final is one of my favourites.

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 17:39:06

I'm pleased that if he had to lose it was to Goran and that Goran went on to win the final. I may have said FUCKKKKK very loudly when Henman lost the fourth set - luckily (in that sense) we were right at the back in the rafters. I've just remembered Ainsley Harriott was sitting two rows behind us.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:39:30

Spoke too soon- VAMOS FERRER!!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:48:21

<wishes she hadn't started watching Ferrer>

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:51:46

Oh Davidsad

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:52:51

Phew, lovely Juan is through with a nicely bandaged knee. He's so good with the little uns when signing autographs (biased, me?). Shame I'm old enough to be his mother. Sigh ...

Tennis partners for the mn mixed doubles:

Me - obviously del Potato!
Raah - anyone Spanish Nadal
The rest of you?

sieze - they (my M & D) wouldn't have come across you probably, she was in outpatients and he was an anaesthetist. Not sure whether to congratulate or commiserate with you on your "shoot-them-out" method of delivering babies! Glad your dd ok, and how exciting that you're going to be a gm soon! My youngest ds was born there - he wasn't meant to be, but came early whilst I was visiting my parents. I kind of felt it was fate that one of my dc was born, not only in my home town, but in the hospital where my M & D had spent so much time (and me too, actually - every day after school when I was little, waiting for one of them!) Sorry for the digression into my life story there everyone!

Witt - poor you for having to endure Cliff, but glad your dm enjoyed herself!

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:53:51

Oh, Bollocks, Ferrersad

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 17:54:06

Noooooooooo why did Ferrer have to double fault at 6-6?

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 17:55:42

Farley Seeing as you and Raahh have bagged the best looking players already I'll have to pick Ferrer (unless I can have Bahrami?)

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:56:16

I'm sorry but when I see Dolgopolo, I automatically pronounce it as "Dogsbollocksgo" blush

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:57:43

Can have whoever you like Witt!

So far then we've signed up Nadal, Del Potato and Ferrer/Bahrami. Who else?

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:58:25

Witt- Bahrami would be an excellent doubles partner.

Ferrer is very out of sorts.sad

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 17:59:06

that will stick...

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 17:59:29

Well, if you're having Bahrami, I'll take Dustin if no one's snapped him up.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 17:59:37

Do you think ten minutes will be enough time for me to get ready to go out tonight (you def wouldn't if you could see me!)?

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 18:00:30

I need to stop watching.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 18:01:46

Dustin! Forgot about him He's much too tall for me though. grin

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 18:01:48

Jesus, you're a bunch of floozies on this thread... Okay then I want Boris Becker - I will happily spend 3 minutes in a room cupboard with him.

I am making dinner here, trying to rush through it so I can have peace to watch Djock if he ever comes on.....

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:02:07

Raah - you don't necessarily have to pick the player who you think would play the best for this mn tournament!

Farley/Del Potato

Anybody for Dogsbollocks?!

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 18:02:31

Broom Cupboard..... blush

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:03:23

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 18:03:37

Dogsbollocksgo is one of those big servers who I hate.

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 18:03:50

Farley, do you think anyone's picked the player they think would play the best?

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:05:50

Ds2 is watching with me now and providing his own commentary, plus correcting me. Wish he'd be quiet, I like mispronouncing names.

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 18:07:25

Dogsbollocks needs to slip...

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:07:43

Well, I was a bit worried that Raah was considering their technical tennis technique when she commented on Bahrami being a good person to play doubles with. I haven't personally given more than a passing thought to their racquet skills ...

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 18:08:42

Ok, I'm definitely having Bahrami. Then I will get to hang out with Leconte after the match too grin

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:09:07

Huh. Ds2 has just told me I look like Dogsbollocksgo. Sulking now. Mind you, if I have to look like a man, he's not a bad one to resemble I suppose.

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 18:09:23

Where is the ferret game? Sue barker just said it was on the red button but it isn't

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:11:33

It is on my red button Chub - number 302?

Who are you having for your mixed doubles partner?

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 18:11:41

When i say play with Nadal, it wouldn't necessarily be tennis...

Raahh Sat 29-Jun-13 18:12:13

Right- don't fuck up this break.

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 18:13:24

It's not on my red button either sad I'm having to watch it on the net. 302 just has a message on it.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:13:52

Oh no Raahh, I don't imagine there'll be a whole lot of tennis played in the mn mixed doubles smile

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:14:30

Oh that's strange (about the red button).

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 18:15:04

302 not working for me. My tuning jumps from 301 to 304.

Can I have murray?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 18:16:18

I've got the haas match on 301. I might try a retune of the telly box in a mo.

Are they going to get to djok tonight do you think?

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:17:39

Farley/Del Potato

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:19:42

David has woken up a bit now.

Witt Sat 29-Jun-13 18:20:36

Just tried retuning and it's still not working and now I've lost 301 too sad

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:21:10

Oh bugger. Can you watch on BBC app?

Chubfuddler Sat 29-Jun-13 18:21:38

Just found djok on BBC sport app

siezethenight Sat 29-Jun-13 18:22:51

Djock is up now. I want to make it clear I am watching this match with the aim result being - he looses... Then it will just be too good for Murray to win the championship and if he does? This cult will just explode!

DuPainDuVinDuFromage Sat 29-Jun-13 18:24:24

Have been lurking but am jumping in now to say my doubles partner would have to be the lovely Tsonga - looks like I've got him all to myself as well! I've had far too little letching time this tournament! sad

Enjoying a bit of Chris Hoy just now though. Wouldn't mind...er...going for a ride with him! wink

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:25:26

I kind of like Djock seize, I know he's not very popular on here (nobody has signed him up for the mn doubles) but he has been my ds1's favourite for years and I feel a strange loyalty to him!

Have you done dinner?

ClayDavis Sat 29-Jun-13 18:27:21

I think the guys in the NVAK T-shirts have lost a friend somewhere.

FarleyD Sat 29-Jun-13 18:28:07

Farley/Del Potato
DuPainDuVinDuFromage/Tsonga with Hoy as ball boy perhaps?
