9pm channel four

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:04:35

Just shock so far.

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:05:22

How did he let them get so big?

DS1 is looking like this-confused

NutsinMay Mon 24-Jun-13 21:05:34

I've just had to turn over. How did they let that man's condition get that far out of control. Surely they could have operated early. I'd like to know the answer but can't face watching it- too much like a freak show.

I hope they can do something for him.

Peachyjustpeachy Mon 24-Jun-13 21:05:56

What a lovely chap

MrsBucketxx Mon 24-Jun-13 21:07:17

me too, but in America if you dont have insurance your stuffed.

FoxyRevenger Mon 24-Jun-13 21:07:45

Holy. Mother. Of. Jeeeezus.

marciaoverstrand Mon 24-Jun-13 21:08:20

That poor man.
They weigh more than I do!

Madsometimes Mon 24-Jun-13 21:08:41

I am also incredulous that in a developed country someone can be allowed to get like this. I wonder if it is insurance related?

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:09:29

DS1 has gone up to bed. He says it's scaring him.

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:10:37

Oh this is awful. Poor poor man.

Allthingspretty Mon 24-Jun-13 21:12:00

I hope there is a positive outcome

Peachyjustpeachy Mon 24-Jun-13 21:12:20

He says having a catheter after surgery is no solution, but it has to be better than this.surely?

AnyFucker Germany Mon 24-Jun-13 21:13:19

Christ, no

I am watching Bradley Cooper on t'other side smile

ladyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 24-Jun-13 21:13:26

Seems so wrong to watch but I'm willing for a good outcome for him. sad One of the richest nations on the planet and people still suffer. It's shameful.

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:15:04

I want to know what happens now.

scratchandsniff Mon 24-Jun-13 21:15:48

Bloody hell poor bloke. That's no life. I'm thinking castration and a catheter has got to be better than living with those for the rest of his life. Let's hope it gets sorted for him.

Peachyjustpeachy Mon 24-Jun-13 21:17:25

But surely he can work after surgery
?

ladyMaryQuiteContrary Mon 24-Jun-13 21:17:33

Ah, he lives in Nevada and can only get medical help from Nevada, but there's no one there who can help him. sad What a crap policy!

scratchandsniff Mon 24-Jun-13 21:17:36

What's scary is that our healthcare system is likely to head the same way.

We had to turn over. confused

Tea bagging!!

marciaoverstrand Mon 24-Jun-13 21:21:04

Now they have cut all his benefitsangry

VivaLeBeaver Mon 24-Jun-13 21:21:38

Yep, nhs has its faults but I thank god for it when I see something like this.

They stopped his benefits cos people were donating for surgery [Angry]
Thank god for the NHS.
We must never allow this to happen in the UK.
How awful for that man.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 24-Jun-13 21:26:50

If his penis is buried under a foot of tissue how does he wee?

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:27:51

I don't know Viva. I am getting sadder by the minute here. 4 years FGS.

Notcontent Mon 24-Jun-13 21:29:39

I am not sure if things will ever change in the US, because their whole national ideology is founded on this idea that people should be "free" from government interference - hence low taxes, etc but few services. Polar opposite of Scandinavian countries for example. There is no way I would ever want to live in the US.

marciaoverstrand Mon 24-Jun-13 21:30:55

At the start of the program it showed him balancing them on the toilet and you heard the wee coming out.
Must be a small gap somewhere in the middle.

OnTheNingNangNong Mon 24-Jun-13 21:31:09

A developed nation should not be able to have people going untreated for that long. It's so sad.

Allthingspretty Mon 24-Jun-13 21:31:15
domesticslattern Mon 24-Jun-13 21:35:14

Oh my god, can you imagine this happening in Britain? Nope. Thank god.

marciaoverstrand Mon 24-Jun-13 21:36:22

Oh the doctor has finally decided to do the op for nothing, you think he would have considered that a few months before.

Madsometimes Mon 24-Jun-13 21:39:47

Good on the surgeon. I'm sure the prestige of doing the op will help his practice gain more patients.

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:40:19

Oh good lord if they had done it for free when it was football sized it would have been a so much smaller Op.

VivaLeBeaver Mon 24-Jun-13 21:40:25

Blimey, poor bloke doesn't even know what is and isn't his penis.

Madsometimes Mon 24-Jun-13 21:40:56

I suppose it's not just the surgeon doing the freebie, but all other hospital staff too.

This is actually making me angry, this poor man suffering for so long. Thank god for the NHS, it may not be perfect but look at the alternative.

MrGeresHamster Mon 24-Jun-13 21:45:36

I can't believe they just did that with his testicles sad

Sparklingbrook Mon 24-Jun-13 21:46:12

Me neither MrGere. Bit disrespectful of the patient.

This is how some Tories would have the NHS going.angry

LalyRawr Mon 24-Jun-13 21:48:24

I hope he wakes up sad

marciaoverstrand Mon 24-Jun-13 21:49:09

His friend is amazing, she has put her life on hold to help him.

MrGeresHamster Mon 24-Jun-13 21:49:17

Yes, Sparkling, really bad. Really hope he pulls through. This is so sad...

Allthingspretty Mon 24-Jun-13 21:49:33
