sad I'm stillin shock. Bless his family. Tomorrow night Sky Atlantic are showing the top four episodes. Where would you start?

GoofyIsACow Thu 20-Jun-13 17:39:56

Pine Barrens followed by any other episode, I absolutely love them all, we are going to start again from the beginning and watch them all (something we do at least once a year)
Terribly sad news, an absolutely amazing actor and, I imagine gave an awesome cuddle!
RIP James Gandolfini

Pine barrens!
But I loved them all!
I even went on sopranos tour when I was last in America, took a picture alongside Vito.

My friends there on holiday. Said it was announced in the bar after the Yankees game. I kind of wish I was there.

RoxyFox211 Thu 20-Jun-13 18:07:23

Difficult, love them all! Maybe the one where Chris goes to rehab "I know what its like to loose a pet!" Gandolphini so good in that, makes the show funny and serious at the same time! Also like the one where he takes peyote.

Lighthousekeeping Thu 20-Jun-13 18:36:21

The one that i never want to see again is the Adrianna one sad it still gives me the shivers.

I loved the one legged Russian woman so any of them with her in it tickle me.

BMW6 Thu 20-Jun-13 19:47:36

Oh Pine Barrens the best IMHO grin

GoofyIsACow Thu 20-Jun-13 19:49:29

Yes! The Russian girl (why the hell can't i remember her name???!) is hilarious! I want to punch Janice for being so frickin annoying!
I love the episodes with Pie Oh My, and the picture which Paulie has his face painted over Tony's!

Its a strange thing to find funny but the episode where Gloria slaps Tony with a steak never fails to crack me up!

Blanketsandpillows Thu 20-Jun-13 19:56:37

Pine barrens for me too! Best series ever!

Lighthousekeeping Thu 20-Jun-13 20:28:06

Omg was that the woman he dumped when her face burnt off? Dumped her in A and E? Why do we smile at suc baad things. Actually, it wasn't Gloria was it? Gloria touched me for some reason.

GoofyIsACow Fri 21-Jun-13 07:18:04

No Gloria was the car sales woman who he met at Melfi's office, the one with the face burnt off was the art sales woman who was seeing Ralphie.

She was called Valentina.

It was Gloria who hit him with the steak, she was very troubled and eventually killed herself (tony found out from someone else, they broke up well before)

Roshbegosh Fri 21-Jun-13 07:28:38

Is Pine Barons the one where they went looking for Colleges. He was dutiful dad one minute and strangling a guy the next. I did love the episode with the Polish lady, where is my white shining armour?
He was a genius, they all were
.

Roshbegosh Fri 21-Jun-13 07:31:48

Got to say though, I hate the way the series was wound up.

Pine Barrens for me too. Steve Buscemi directed it grin

"I'm starving to death and you got fucking Tic Tacs?!"

Roshbegosh Fri 21-Jun-13 10:35:35

Oh that one, the burying the body and getting lost. Yes, brilliant. And the fancy Italian shoes in the snow.

lottieandmia Fri 21-Jun-13 10:42:37

I love The Sopranos. I have lots of favourite episodes but I particularly like the one where Paulie and Christopher botch their mission to kill the Russian guy and end up stuck in the snow, having to be rescued by Tony.

Irina was Tony's original mistress. I read something a while back about how Tony was attracted to women who had Borderline Personality Disorder because his mother had it. He has to accept that Gloria has the same patterns of behaviour as Irina before her.

lottieandmia Fri 21-Jun-13 10:45:41

I don't like the way the show ended either - it was just too ambiguous. I also heard that people often didn't know they were going to be killed off until the day they were shooting and Sal 'Pussy' Bonpensiero's killing off caused furious rows among the cast.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 10:52:14

There's loads of stuff in that interview I linked too. Like how he got a pay rise and shared it out with the rest of them sad

lottieandmia Fri 21-Jun-13 10:56:19

51 is young isn't it? sad

I always thought it was never quite the same without Adriana - the episode where she was killed was really horrible. Christopher chose the mafia over her but I never got the impression he had a comparable relationship with his eventual wife.

lottieandmia Fri 21-Jun-13 10:57:50

Thanks for the heads up re: Sky Atlantic.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 11:05:15

It's so poignant to think this was made years ago m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=GeldvNxpW44&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DGeldvNxpW44

Pinebarrens Fri 21-Jun-13 11:05:43

can you guess?

Roshbegosh Fri 21-Jun-13 11:10:09

I've just seen which episodes will be on and I don't think Pine Barons is on.

thestringcheesemassacre Fri 21-Jun-13 11:11:18

Pine Barrens was amazing.

I also LOVED Christophers intervention. When Paulie shouts at him it makes me laugh so much.

Best show ever, I loved it so much.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 11:15:34

Do you think it's because Tony wasn't in it so much?

Roshbegosh Fri 21-Jun-13 11:26:03

I love Tony. Well I guess I wouldn't really love that character but I loved the sopranos.
Did you link to an interview? Just watched the YouTube clip, brilliant.

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 11:30:06

Be warned it will take a while to read. I found the magazine on holiday and it took me three days to read it. The photos weeper fab. I don't know how it translates on line www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2012/04/sopranos-oral-history

GoofyIsACow Fri 21-Jun-13 13:38:24

Lighthouse... That video is so sad sad

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 20:19:36

I know it's heart breaking! I feel real despondent they will think I'm nuts at work. His poor wife and children.

I don't even think I can watch it tonight.

GoofyIsACow Fri 21-Jun-13 21:44:45

We don't have Sky so I can't watch, which episodes did they choose?

I feel irrationally moved by it actually, not that I don't think it is sad when anyone dies, it's just that DH and I are such massive fans that it's like someone we know has died, it's such a weird thing!

Poor family sad

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 22:03:53

I'm irrational too! I also think its because no-one close to me has seen it and I shared my addiction with an ex bf who turned out to have a little of the Tony about him hmm even so, I'm wondering what he thinks to the news and I'd love to mull it over with me for ten minutes confused. I'm only on to the first episode which is the very first one when he thinks he's having a heart attack but its panic attacks. I don't want to look to see what else they've chosen. Want it to be a surprise. I hope the one legged Russian features!

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 22:48:12

The second one is College were he takes Meadow and takes someone out at the same time. I have to sleep after it working tomorrow.

GoofyIsACow Fri 21-Jun-13 23:28:18

Ahh yes, when he strangles that guy and has suspicious wire marks!
He is trudging through bushes and mud in his loafers! grin
It aways makes me laugh that one because he is in full Dad mode, with his loafers and polo shirt, so when he goes to kill him it's like someones dad rocking up and killing a guy!

Lighthousekeeping Fri 21-Jun-13 23:50:07

I know what you mean! He's so fucked up. I have a terrible feeling the next one is Pussy but I have to go to bed work in morning.
