I'm looking forward to going 'aaaaw' at cats for an hour, with the defence that it's a nature documentary. And learning something, hopefully.

Upsy1981 Thu 13-Jun-13 18:22:47

Cannot wait! We have been dying to do this to our cat for ages.

Davros Thu 13-Jun-13 18:41:13

Yes, dying to see it. Our cat is not allowed out at night usually because the vet says that is when they fight the most. Now and then she gets a night out if we can't find her.

I am dead excited about it blush

iwantavuvezela Thu 13-Jun-13 18:53:47

Count me in!

Cuddleswithcats Thu 13-Jun-13 18:56:16

I really looking forward to it! I've always wanted to know what my furry babies get up to outside

MrsBertMacklin Thu 13-Jun-13 19:00:48

Really hope it's not just an hour of a cat's POV of a bum being licked.

Scratch that, it would still be better entertainment than Not Going Out.

PollyPlummer Thu 13-Jun-13 19:27:30

Oooh this looks good. Would love to fo this to our cst too.

alwaysonmymind Thu 13-Jun-13 20:55:26

I always wondered what my two cats are getting up to.
There is an article about it on BBCs website. It shows some of the cats and the "catcam" round their neck. One met a rival and all the hissing and crying woke one of mine up with a start. He couldn't work out where the noise was coming from

Darkesteyes Thu 13-Jun-13 20:59:48

Me too. Although they wouldnt get away with strapping one of those cameras to my cat. Their hands would end up as ribbons.

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:03:47

Watching would loved to have a cat cam for my old cat he was a right bruiser

MrsBertMacklin Thu 13-Jun-13 21:04:14

I've 'aww-ed' four times already. There's a drinking game to be had with this programme...

iwantanafternoonnap Thu 13-Jun-13 21:08:34

Yes right now with the cat sat next to me the dog however, is lying on the floor with his back to us and the tele LOL

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:10:15

Who is narrating? Recognise the voice.

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:11:45

Secret life of Weasels next!

Monty27 Thu 13-Jun-13 21:12:13

Where is it on? confused

Monty27 Thu 13-Jun-13 21:12:38

Oops found it smile

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:12:47

Bbc2

iwantanafternoonnap Thu 13-Jun-13 21:15:01

I bet there was a bit of competition with the owners on whose cat wandered the most grin

Sunnywithshowers Thu 13-Jun-13 21:20:16

My old boy is 19 - I think his routine now goes (our) bed, (his) bean bag, litter tray, food bowl... rinse and repeat.

Little bit behind.
If they did it here I reckon they'd find half the neighbourhood cats came through my cat flap. My cats seem to positively welcome visitors.

RandomMess Thu 13-Jun-13 21:21:45

Loving it

alwaysonmymind Thu 13-Jun-13 21:22:07

Cat cam is genius! Love it

Cuddleswithcats Thu 13-Jun-13 21:22:26

I love this!

Bearcrumble Thu 13-Jun-13 21:22:28

That cat on the arnchair was bloody enormous.

Sunnywithshowers Thu 13-Jun-13 21:24:29

I love the idea of cats fighting on a hedge.

And Ginger sounds acers.

Bearcrumble Thu 13-Jun-13 21:24:58

Wonder what Ginger's secret is. Maybe he's into cross dressing.

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:25:21

Anyone else just watching the whiskers?

Sunnywithshowers Thu 13-Jun-13 21:25:31

Fight!

SgtTJCalhoun Thu 13-Jun-13 21:26:47

I am LOVING this. And I am not even a cat person. Recording for dd she loves cats.

Sunnywithshowers Thu 13-Jun-13 21:27:15

My first Awwww for Tigger. She's byootiful.

mignonette Thu 13-Jun-13 21:27:43

Awaiting the bird carnage- apparently it is on a par with Saw

Bearcrumble Thu 13-Jun-13 21:29:33

I am just getting house envy now.

See what you mean about the whiskers.

Darkesteyes Thu 13-Jun-13 21:30:49

Pheobe is sooooooo cute <melts>

Bearcrumble Thu 13-Jun-13 21:31:04

nb not for the 80s terrace.

alwaysonmymind Thu 13-Jun-13 21:32:22

Lady Yes - I love the whiskers and muzzle view.

All the cats are lovely - no scraggy moggies in that village!

Did someone say one of the cats was called Scarface Claw? Like in Hairy McClairy

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:35:24

I'm soon getting 'home range' and 'time shift' into every conversation in RL tomorrow.

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:36:05

Omg how many cats on that farm !!

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:37:05

Me too lady reckon thats loads of mneters where i work grin

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:37:24

Yy. How many GINGER cats.

TorianaTollywobbles Thu 13-Jun-13 21:37:50

My cat is sat next to me on the sofa, watching this avidly! Eyes glued to the screen and tail flicking grin

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:39:10

SAU. Sorry I'm out of my home range with this idea. Or. Ill have to time shift to meet up.

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:40:46

So miss my ginger cat he was so sloppy but once for my birthday i got 4 mice on the patio all in a row

Hassled Thu 13-Jun-13 21:41:49

I want to know what you need to do to become a "leading cat scientist". Why did no-one tell me that was a career option when I was at school?

And less wittering on, more catcams please.

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:44:11

Loving the timeshift one Lady

Darkesteyes Thu 13-Jun-13 21:44:24

My God its a massacre

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:45:22

Hassled. Imagine the queue on Careers evening.

Cuddleswithcats Thu 13-Jun-13 21:45:27

Cat HQ grin

starsandunicorns Thu 13-Jun-13 21:47:44

Midnight snacking bit like us humans though we dont go through cat flaps

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:49:23

Cats in charge. You don't say.

ladymalfoy Thu 13-Jun-13 21:52:29

How can they keep a straight face talking about purrs?!

Sunnywithshowers Thu 13-Jun-13 22:02:10

I for one welcome our furry overlords.

I want to be a cat scientist!! Loved the six cats all hanging out together grin

Jux Fri 14-Jun-13 09:15:30

The scientists were great, and it was a fascinating programme. It would be really good to put cameras on our 3. You'd probably only see them rolling in the flower beds (or would you?.........)

Different narrator, and cut the background music to the catcam, and it would have been really good.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 09:21:37

Is there another programme?

fussychica Fri 14-Jun-13 18:18:34

Yes Little cat Diaries tonight at 10pm.
Actually I was a bit disappointed by the programme - thought we'd get to see more of the cats being cheeky whatsits.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 18:26:39

Ooh thanks Fussy. Yes I know what you mean. I wanted to get to know the cats.

toldmywrath Fri 14-Jun-13 19:18:09

I want to be a leading cat scientist too! Loved the whiskers & would love to know what our big boy toldcat gets up to.

bootsycollins Fri 14-Jun-13 19:27:10

I was a bit disappointed with last nights programme, less talking more cats please!. I want to be introduced to all of the cats and their humans. Cat HQ looked like crimewatch grin

bootsycollins Fri 14-Jun-13 19:27:53

And yes I too would like to do a degree in cat.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 19:28:08

Yes, I wanted to get emotionally involved with the cats and their stories/adventures.

seizetheafternoon Fri 14-Jun-13 21:03:22

Just caught this on iplayer and was really disappointed. I adore cats and find them fascinating but switched off half way because I was so bored sad

Monty27 Fri 14-Jun-13 21:24:42

I was disappointed too, it was more about the science of the tracking device than it was about what the little minxes get up to that we don't already know about.

<cats bum mouth>

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 21:36:37

The description of little cat diaries says it is about the cats who stood out. I would be secretly peeved if my cat wasn't one of the standout ones! smile

Darkesteyes Fri 14-Jun-13 21:53:56

Signing in for Little Cat Diaries. Getting ready for cuteness overload.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 21:58:24

Oh yes Catmint me too. Although my cat doesn't do anything particularly interesting

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:02:35

I bet he/she does, Sparkling. I think they are all interesting!

My lovely cat Onion died in January, I miss him so much, and am enjoying getting a fix from these shows.

On a positive note, we are planning to get another one in September, after our summer holiday.

Ooh, it's starting!

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 22:07:40

Hahaha forget cat poo in the garden. now cat sick too.

Darkesteyes Fri 14-Jun-13 22:08:32

Here comes the Clint Eastwood of cats. The Cat With No Name

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:09:18

Spooky eyes!

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:11:51

Forget cat scientist, I wanna be a pet detective.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 22:12:41

She is being interrogated about a stray cat.

Darkesteyes Fri 14-Jun-13 22:13:03

My cat has a thing for eating moths even though they make her sick.

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:14:38

Lovely houses.....

Darkesteyes Fri 14-Jun-13 22:15:13

OMG A hermaphrodite cat.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 22:19:20

Oh lovely a spraying stray just what you need. angry

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:20:27

We had one of those, solved by getting a chip sensitive cat flap.

Darkesteyes Fri 14-Jun-13 22:23:03

Obi What a beauty.

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:24:06

Yes obi is gorgeous!

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 22:28:32

Oh no. No secure attachment. sad

Darkesteyes Fri 14-Jun-13 22:29:46

You havent met DH and our tabby.
Follows him to the loo
Sulks when he goes out.

Sparklingbrook Fri 14-Jun-13 22:31:41

That experiment was a bit odd. it would have been better done at home surely?

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:32:47

Onion used to come to the shops with me. To say there is no secure attachment conflicts with the first one, which said that cat behaviour is evolving to "be the pets we want them to be" because it is in their interest.

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:34:51

I agree, Sparkling, that environment was weird. Also the 'stranger' was wiggling cat toys around. Lack of a control ....

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:35:41

First one = first programme. Sorry, have had a beer or two.

Catmint Fri 14-Jun-13 22:36:27

Darkest, yr tabby sounds v fun.

Jestrin Sat 15-Jun-13 20:37:24

My two have followed me to Sainsburys. Either they wanted to choose this weeks flavour of Gourmet Perle or it's secure attachment for sure!

diddl Sun 16-Jun-13 09:21:15

I also thought that it was really disappointing.

Had to snurk at the cat who moved out from the house with 4 young kids & a dog!!

Sad about the no attachment.

Love to try that on ours as she loves my husband!

Well, we do know what ours does at night.

When I get off the sofa at nine to take the dog out-she settles down in the middle & there's no getting back on for me when I return!

Then at about 3am she gets off the sofa, gets on to our bed & snuggles as close to husband as she can.
