Anyone know when Luther, Series 3 is starting.

I guess that it will be in the Autumn, but don't know.

Can't wait smile

Stila Fri 24-May-13 13:50:00

The last series was on Sept / Oct last year so I suspect it will be the same . However Alibi are showing series 1 from Thursday 30th at 9pm

Ellenora5 Sat 25-May-13 12:30:59

I was wondering this myself, I think it's one of the best shows in a long time, thanks for that Stila, will look forward to watching that again.

Allthingspretty Sat 25-May-13 20:21:13

There was also talk of a film and a Alice spin off series.

I agree its a great show. Very dark.

Ellenora5 Sun 26-May-13 22:47:03

Allthingspretty, I heard that too about a film and didn't hear anymore, wonder will it happen.

It's back in July! There's been a trailer on this week, which you can see on YouTube. Looks great!

BaconAndAvocado Sun 09-Jun-13 08:42:48

Oohhh, we lurved Luther! Can't wait for next series.

Ellenora5 Wed 26-Jun-13 22:36:16

Tuesday 9.00pm ladies, don't forget, really looking forward to it, Luther might find love, awww I hope he does (with me) grin

SinisterBuggyMonth Thu 27-Jun-13 00:41:33

I worry for the poor lady Luther finds love with. May as well paint a massive target on her head.

Great, grim tv

AnonYonimousBird Thu 27-Jun-13 09:39:48

I am BEYOND excited. DH and I love love love Luther.

Grit those teeth and get ready for a dismal ride!!!

DH seems to think that the gorgeous Idris Elba is up for James Bond???? I don't mind, but don't want him all smooth and sleek, want him rough and ready and seriously disturbed!

BistoBear Thu 27-Jun-13 09:44:23

So excited for Luther coming back!

Don't know about him playing Bond either, I would love to see him play Jack Reacher! He's exactly how I would imagine Jack looking!

AnonYonimousBird Thu 27-Jun-13 09:45:36

Now, this Jack Reacher, I know nothing about him other than I've heard the name. Is he a cool dude, do I need to find out more?!

anonacfr Thu 27-Jun-13 13:30:41

Well Jack Reacher is meant to be 6'6 and scary-intimidating and the actor they picked to play him in the movie was.... Tom Cruise.
Fans were disgusted and I think the film bombed.

Anyway back to Luther- this Tuesday!!!! I am so excited. Although sadly there are only 4 episodes.

AnonYonimousBird Thu 27-Jun-13 13:58:22

ONLY FOUR?????? OH NO! Well, we will be on holiday for the last two then, at least I can have double rations waiting on our return to Blighty!

SinisterBuggyMonth Thu 27-Jun-13 22:47:53

There was only 4eps in. the last series too. Bit like Sherlock. They dont like us to have too much of a good thing.

anonacfr Tue 02-Jul-13 20:44:12

OK on a scale of nought to ridiculous excited how much are we looking forward to tonight's episode????

What I want to know is- is he going to be sitting on a bench eating a 99?

Ellenora5 Tue 02-Jul-13 20:58:52

I'm not kidding I'm like a child on xmas eve here, ooohhh can't wait!!!!

LineRunner Tue 02-Jul-13 21:10:05

Oh god, that bloke under the bed.

Bearandcub Tue 02-Jul-13 21:13:03

My heart is still pounding LineRunner.

LineRunner Tue 02-Jul-13 21:15:22

Me too.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:16:00

That's a fear of mine when dh is away shock

colleysmill Tue 02-Jul-13 21:18:23

Omg. I knew it was coming, I could see it coming but jeez ..... that's a whole new "keep me awake in the night" moment

Ellenora5 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:22:15

I jumped off the sofa, couldn't figure out where he would be, it's brill already

Ellenora5 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:24:46

Wasn't that fella in the Tudors

MikeLitoris Tue 02-Jul-13 21:39:49

Ffs. The man under the bed thing is my biggest fear. Had nightmares of it as a child. My heart is going mad.

Im watching on catch up so behind rhe rest of you.

LineRunner Tue 02-Jul-13 21:41:27

Still recovering from that.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:43:03

He's going to strike again, not sure my nerves can stand it!

Blonde1982 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:45:08

well, that's ruined any patio door ambitions I might have had! This is all a bit flipping terrifying!

mummylin Tue 02-Jul-13 21:49:29

Oh my God,imagine putting your hand in the blender deliberately

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:54:11

Gawd, I can't watch shock

Monty27 Tue 02-Jul-13 21:54:51

I've never seen any other 'Luthers' but decided I'd give it a go after seeing posts on here, however, I was doing supper and clearing up while it's been on, now I've sat down to try and watch it and I'm erm completely lost confused

Can anyone fill me in??

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 21:55:58

Scaring the willies out of me. DH is due home any minute, I wish he was here now!

LineRunner Tue 02-Jul-13 21:55:59

Don't hide in the cupboard...

Sillyshell Tue 02-Jul-13 21:57:31

Not the best choice to watch when I'm at home on my own! Am so checking under the bed.

mummylin Tue 02-Jul-13 21:58:06

Roll on next week !

HillStreetLoos Tue 02-Jul-13 21:58:22

wtf - I remember now I don't actually watch the programme I hold the remote up in front of face and try to work out what is going on my the type of music they are playing and how sacred I feel

Working really well tonight.......

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 21:59:27

SHiiiiitttttttyy fuuuckkkkkk!!!!!!! I'm a couple of mins behind you!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 22:00:04

Omg that was terrifying, literally squealing out loud watching that!

Clawdy Tue 02-Jul-13 22:00:25

I love Idris Elba and was looking forward to this, but it's too gruesome for me. The last ten minutes were like a slasher movie.

BistoBear Tue 02-Jul-13 22:01:37

Totally forgot this was on tonight! Shall catch it on iplayer later then come back and read the thread smile

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 22:02:02

I am now unable to leave the sofa and go to bed until DH comes home. Holy schmoly I'm sooooooo scared! shock

I 'watched' it from under a blanket with DH providing commentary.

Fuck that was terrifying and not particularly pleasant to watch.

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 22:05:26

DH is home - and I must admit I squealed when the front door opened but I am soooooo flippen relieved he is back - at least I can go for a wee now!

smokeybacon Tue 02-Jul-13 22:06:32

Shheez. Had to turn over at the point the blender came out... Did he do what I think he was about to do? I was watching about 10 mins behind so then lost the end as had to turn over! Did the fetish man get the woman with the gorgeous kitchen too?

Monty27 Tue 02-Jul-13 22:06:44

But it's not scaring me because I don't understand it!

Fill me in someone (well, not literally eek). grin

diddl Tue 02-Jul-13 22:08:15

Won't be watching that again!

All too much for me!

Bloody attacks on women-and in their own home.

The fall was bad enough!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 22:08:39

I'm regretting watching that now as dh is literally thousands of miles away, I don't want to go upstairs eek.

anonacfr Tue 02-Jul-13 22:15:09

I thought it was a lot milder than it has been. But... JUSTIN??????? How could you?

Gooseysgirl Tue 02-Jul-13 22:15:21

Oh Jaysus this programme is not to be watched when pregnant and having weird dreams... DH has just asked me would he look as cool as Luther in a tweed jacket grin

Ellenora5 Tue 02-Jul-13 22:17:13

I thought that was bloody brilliant, can't wait for next week, I'm disgusted with Justin mind you, does he really believe what he is being told, I'm on my own as well, just me and ds2 here, I had a beer to settle my nerves grin any excuse, (it's always just me and ds2 here, shush though, don't tell anyone smile )

cocolepew Tue 02-Jul-13 22:17:26

Didn't Justin suspect him of being dodgy before?
I can't remember any of the previous series apart from the psycho woman hmm.

ParkerTheThief Tue 02-Jul-13 22:21:41

Oooh, I love Luther but I had to watch that from behind a cushion.

DH has just gone upstairs and shouted down that there is no one under the bed and he was crying with laughter because only today our missing cat turned out to be in our neighbours loft.

ParkerTheThief Tue 02-Jul-13 22:22:24

I shouted at Justin at the end - how could he?

I am curled up in bed now but doubt I will sleep for a long time!!!

guineapiglet Tue 02-Jul-13 22:28:24

Watched on my own and have now checked under bed. Not going to use blender again either... Really love Luther tonights had shades of The Fall. That creepy Scottish ex cop is pretty scary too.

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 22:30:59

I still haven't made it upstairs although my pulse is now within normal range.

MikeLitoris Tue 02-Jul-13 22:53:32

Im too scared to go into my kitchen as we have no blinds.

Only problem is I need to go through kitchen to get to the toilet!

Irs going to be a long night.....

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 22:55:51

have just checked under the bed and double checked doors are lockedshock

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 22:56:05

Maybe we should start the "Post Luther - too scared for sleep" thread to get us through the night grin

XBenedict Tue 02-Jul-13 22:56:36

Munch you're brave, I'm still on the sofa and need a wee, at least DH is home.

ParkerTheThief Tue 02-Jul-13 22:59:31

DH has gone outside to look for the cat... He's been laughing at me because he says if I lived alone even my love lust for Idris wouldn't be enough to make me watch Luther while I was alone.

diddl Tue 02-Jul-13 23:00:06

I'm off up now-wish me luck!!

Gooeyhead Tue 02-Jul-13 23:03:25

Another one too scared to sleep!!! I'm lay in bed with every light in in the house on waiting for DH - he's due in any minute!!! I even turned over at the beginning as soon as the camera went under the bed coz I thought "there's not a chance I'm watching him grab her from under the bed"!!!! It's brilliant though I'm watching series 1 and 2 on "alibi" at the moment for those who haven't seen it before and want to know what's going on smile

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 02-Jul-13 23:05:08

Good luck Diddl, I don't feel brave but need my sleep!

anonacfr Tue 02-Jul-13 23:16:52

Ooh I didn't know it was on Alibi. I want to watch them again is it repeated?

Thing with Luther is that he's not dodgy he just has his own sense of justice. I don't quite know how they knew for sure that Barnaby was the killer but he was going to let him off out of compassion. That crying scene in the kitchen was brutal. Poor Ken.

colleysmill Tue 02-Jul-13 23:19:13

Another here having checked underneath the bed. Wishing we had a divan and no loft .......

longingforsomesleep Tue 02-Jul-13 23:51:45

Not normally scared by stuff on the telly but I had my hands over my ears and my eyes shut for the blender scene and when the programme finished I was peering over the top of a cushion which I was clutching tightly to my mouth.

It was really good because it relied on suspense rather than surprise for impact. You knew there would be somebody under the bed and in the attic, but the slow build up was an incredible way of cranking up the tension. I knew the man under the plastic sheet was going to move suddenly but when he did I still jumped in the air! Can't wait til next week!!

anonacfr Tue 02-Jul-13 23:54:15

I found the way the guy came out from under the bed incredibly creepy. The way he moved so purposefully and calmly. It was eerie.

AmberLeaf Wed 03-Jul-13 00:03:45

Disappointed in Justin.

Was fab though, can't wait for next weeks.

SinisterBuggyMonth Wed 03-Jul-13 00:28:30

I think Justin is playing the scary Scot and woman was an old eps? The fight between Luther and Justin was right in front of everyone, a bit public.

Also Luthers love interest is in on it, I reckon. That car crash was too convenient.

<head explodes with Luther induced paranoia>

Sinister, I thought that about the car crash too, her reactions were abnormal. The way she stared, then shook herself when he put his head in the car. That seemed just wrong.

wannabeawallaby Wed 03-Jul-13 01:00:46

This is why I put loads of crap under the bed.

Ellenora5 Wed 03-Jul-13 02:07:27

SinisterBuggyMonth, you could be onto something there, I posted that I can't believe Justin is falling for it, I kept shouting at the telly "just write him a note and tell him what's happening", but when they were fighting in the office Luther let the phone drop and didn't get to warn the other woman (mad Maya in corrie years ago by the way) so will he blame Justin for not fore warning them, oh I don't know, and where is Alice, I thought she was coming back but now not so sure, although creepy cop does have her picture on his wall, right I have to stop now and wait till next week.

Well wasn't that the bloody scariest thing ever??

Big old brave DH and silly little scared me sat watching most if it from behind our hands, we even sang very loudly with our fingers in our ears and eyes closed when the blender came out!!

Luther would not go for that skinny blonde either (set up). I know he much prefers buxom, pregnant, brunettes.

TobyLerone Wed 03-Jul-13 06:19:49

Justin was bluffing before when he pretended to be on the side of The Man. I reckon he is again.

We were wondering why he didn't just write a note, too.

DonchianTrend Wed 03-Jul-13 07:32:03

mrsdinklage Wed 03-Jul-13 07:45:33

I wondered why he didn't write a note. DH will not be allowed out on a Tuesday night till its finished. Man under the bed was sooooo scary. I went in the kitchen when the other guy got the blender out.
Another one here hoping Alice will be back shock

AmberLeaf Wed 03-Jul-13 07:50:13

Yes I think the new girl is iffy.

Alice will deal with her though.

Is Alice on a world tour? all those postcards on Luthers mantle piece?

XBenedict Wed 03-Jul-13 07:54:40

Well I survived the night. It appears there was no one under my bed and as the loft hatch is in DD2's room I felt relatively safeish when I went to bed last night!! Cat gave me the creeps though when is started meowing by the front door to be let in .......that's how it all started but he did just want t be let in. Going to start watching series 1 & 2 think they might be on Netflix.

mrsdinklage Wed 03-Jul-13 07:59:13

XB - and is your dd ok this morning ? grin

XBenedict Wed 03-Jul-13 08:01:39

She is...........but I will admit I didn't give her a kiss goodnight last night blush I made DH do it!!

gaggiagirl Wed 03-Jul-13 08:17:02

Did anyone else shit themselves during the attic scene? Dp was laughing his back off at me squealing.
The love interest is dodgy I don't like her she can get lost I'm hoping alice will sort her out.
Justin how could you? I hope its all a rouse.
Will the gorgeous mark make a return? He might be globe trotting with Alice.
Can't wait for next week.

MikeLitoris Wed 03-Jul-13 08:28:58

I made it through the night without going for a wee. No way could I walk through the kitchen.

I had a huge fear of someone under the bed as a child after that stupid 'dogs can lick too' urban legend.

I think justin is bluffing too. I cant see him getting so worked up over that dad getting off with murder.

diddl Wed 03-Jul-13 08:35:38

I also think that the new girl is suspect.

Will be recording in future so that I can FF through the bad bitsblush

Fortunately, my bed is too low for anyone to fit under & we have no attic!

Although was just dozing off & husband coughed & I just about hit the ceiling!

I'm usualy a light sleeper.

But one night, when husband was supposed to be working away, he drove home instead-without telling me-& I woke to find him standing in the bedroom at about 3am, having just got in!

Scared the shit out of me-as did the realisation that he'd got into the bedroom without me hearing a bloody thing!

OrmirianResurgam Wed 03-Jul-13 09:58:07

I have the concentration of a gnat for TV atm. But even I was glued to this...or maybe pinned to the sofa with terror. Brilliant grin

Poor cat though .....sorry, I know, skewed priorities, but I will confess to shutting both cats in my bedroom with me until H got home.

TobyLerone Wed 03-Jul-13 10:04:27

I was saying that too, Ormirian. Usually I'm bored watching TV, especially something on BBC with no adverts to break it up, meaning that it's a full hour. But Luther always flies past for me.

mrswimpeydimple Wed 03-Jul-13 10:12:57

I dont think I have been so terrified by a tv prog before this. I couldnt watch the blender scene nor the one with the couple and the huge window/loft, kept switching over to Workhouse prog on itv at those bits. Couldn't go up to bed either afteewards had to watch something else to try and take my mind off. Will try to watch next week but will hope for no more scare.the.shit.out.of.all.women scenes!

MikeLitoris Wed 03-Jul-13 10:58:52

The only time I have been that scared of a tv programme was Whitechapel. There was a scene with a full length mirror and a murderer standing watching the woman behind it. Still makes me shudder. I cant stand the thought of someone in my house watching me while im completely unaware.

Stems from being burgled as a child. Woke up in the morning to find they had been in my room when I was asleep.

I'll still watch next week. I think I might have to get some kitchen blinds though grin

I think the woman is dodgy. She admitted it her was her fault and Luther said not to worry. Therefore not following the rule book.

I was in the office alone this morning at 8am and a colleague came slowly up the stairs and scared the shit out of me. still scared nearly 12 hours later.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 03-Jul-13 13:52:38

It shows how well it's made that we are still thinking about it so much today and I, for one am still shuddering at some of the scenes.

AnonYonimousBird Wed 03-Jul-13 14:24:12

DH had to make me put my cutlery down mid eating as he was concerned what might happen if I didn't!!!!!

Cor cor cor, did not disappoint.

PS. My DH used to go out with the new "iffy/dodgy" lady, many moons ago!!!

mamapants Wed 03-Jul-13 19:35:21

Can anyone refresh my memory of how the last season ended?
I thought they were about to arrest Luther but that Alice took the blame or am I making that up?
I also think it looks like Alice has been sending Luther postcards. I hope she will make an appearance.

wannabeawallaby Wed 03-Jul-13 20:11:21

On possibly dodgy woman insisting she was in the wrong - maybe that was just her in for a date?

anonacfr Wed 03-Jul-13 21:52:51

Luther helped Alice escape. He sheltered teenage prostitute from mob guy and his evil grandmother.
Teenage prostitute killed the mob guy in his flat (hence the blood they discovered in his flat) and he helped dispose of the body by hiding it in the boot of a mob minion's car. He then used Alice as a threat to get evil mob granny to back off and leave him and Jenny (teenage prostitute). Roll on awesome scene of Luther and Jenny sitting on a bench eating a 99. End of series.

vjg13 Wed 03-Jul-13 23:07:54

I do watch it but much preferred him as Stringer Bell. <swoon>

Ellenora5 Sat 06-Jul-13 00:25:19

Series 2 is starting next Thursday on alibi channel for anyone that want's to catch up

NewGirlInTown Sat 06-Jul-13 02:50:58

Have to say, I don't care if new woman is dodgy/iffy as long as it means Luther gets a sex scene!
I want Idris out if that bloody jacket! Have you SEEN how broad his shoulders are?
<fans self>

anonacfr Sat 06-Jul-13 12:49:27

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 10:52:46

On a Luther countdown and on my own again, will have to do some loin girding beforehand shock

mummylin Tue 09-Jul-13 11:20:14

Can't wait for tonight, wonder what shocks we will have !

mrswimpeydimple Tue 09-Jul-13 11:46:57

Wardrobe!! Not sure I'll watch, still checking under bed from last week.shock

Lighthousekeeping Tue 09-Jul-13 11:48:37

I watched it for the first time yesterday afternoon. I got about an hours sleep last night.

guineapiglet Tue 09-Jul-13 11:53:08

Kind of dreading tonight now...... my husband has announced he is going away for the night so I will have to watch ALONE - I won't be able to record it as I know it will be on, so will have to watch it <brave>.
<but scared.... >

Am eagerly awaiting release of Pacific Rim next week. It not only has Idris in it, but also Charlie Hunaam from Sons of Anarchy - I don't really care what the film will be like, I will have plenty to keep me occupied!!
<Books tickets well in advance>

Lighthousekeeping Tue 09-Jul-13 12:11:17

Remember when he was the hot decorator in The Big C?

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 12:22:02

Oh yes Lighthouse his sex scenes with Kathy were smokin' hot blush

Ellenora5 Tue 09-Jul-13 15:56:44

Can't wait for tonight, really looking forward to it, best show on telly by a mile

anonacfr Tue 09-Jul-13 18:35:27

guinea I am getting rid of eldest child for the week on Monday- which means I get to go see it 3D and I don't need to share my popcorn. Bliss.

Lighthousekeeping Tue 09-Jul-13 18:43:05

Was last weeks the scariest or are they all like that? I need to know cos I'm on my own.

coffeeinbed Tue 09-Jul-13 19:22:23

Watched the fist episode last night - then slept on he sofa downstairs because the bedroom's too hot.
Got startled in the middle of the night because someone was watching me. Terrified the living daylights out of me.
Bloody dog!

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 19:27:43

Lighthouse, no they haven't all been as scary as last weeks.

AnonYonimousBird was she iffy?! wink

Looking forward to tonights.

coffeeinbed Tue 09-Jul-13 20:33:47

I thought blonde girl was dodgy too.
Can't wait for Alice to come back.

Corygal Tue 09-Jul-13 21:02:39

Please don't leave me - I was petrified during ep 1 and can only tackle the one starting now if I can MN at the same time...

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:11:18

<Strokes corygals hair soothingly>

anonacfr Tue 09-Jul-13 21:11:35

What happened in the first five minutes? my tv died on me and all I saw was serial killer walking into greggs and getting the come now message

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:17:45

I hope this is not as heart stoppingly frightening as watching alone, again shock

anonacfr Tue 09-Jul-13 21:22:57

Well? ???

Sparklysilversequins Tue 09-Jul-13 21:28:00

I'm about ten minutes behind. Luther knows that treacherous Justin is wired up doesn't he?

FullOfChoc Tue 09-Jul-13 21:32:46

I think he must.

There've been a few comments to suggest he knows.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:34:20

Aw gawd he's in the pretty nurse's flat.....eeek!

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:35:39

So, who is that ill man?

VivaLeBeaver Tue 09-Jul-13 21:37:03

I've never watched it before and missed the first ten mins tonight.

What's going on?

Who's croaky voice bloke?

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:37:20

Ill man is someone who was done for murders in the past and appears to have got away with other killings one of which was wig mans Mum.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:37:40

He is the killer from the 70's / 80's.

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:38:33

Oh Jesus here we go...

anonacfr Tue 09-Jul-13 21:38:57

The toothbrush scene was hideous. So what happens at the beginning with Justin?

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:39:24

Ah, he killed wig man's mum? And was wig man watching from cupboard?

Blasted DD wont settle, keeps on making me get up and move away form the tellybox to check on her.

VivaLeBeaver Tue 09-Jul-13 21:39:35

I've turned it off. I'll never have a shower again if I keep watching.

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:41:13

I'm hiding behind my hands, DH is narrating... AND I WAS ABOUT TO HAVE A SHOWER arrgghh

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:41:17

Thank goodness Luthers twiigged

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:41:57

Do, don't go to the loo.
Don;t split up.

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:42:48

Am I going to scream out loud this time.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:43:53

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:44:03

Wheres ayesha?

Oh fuck!!!

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:45:30

I'm hyperventilating now

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:45:33

Oh my god, my poor heart

Helpyourself Tue 09-Jul-13 21:45:52

Why am I watching this?

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:46:13

3 pairs of shoes at the ready there??

I'm scared!!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:46:49

Holy shit this is terrifying

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:47:12

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:47:16

Luther, do him!!

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:47:30

BRILLIANT!!! Go Luther!!!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:47:34

Thank fuck for Luther

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:48:25

Oh no, now Luther is gonna get the blame for that.

girliefriend Tue 09-Jul-13 21:48:27

oh dear

He's still alive!

HazeltheMcWitch Tue 09-Jul-13 21:49:12

No, he's going to be blamed for shoving him out the window now too.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:49:14

Aisha will back up his story though.

moggiek Tue 09-Jul-13 21:49:29

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:49:56

Justin has just learnt why Luthers way is best I think.

Helpyourself Tue 09-Jul-13 21:50:12

But is he dead?

Aargh no.
I hate this so much.

Justin's a knob,

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:51:42

Is Justin really going to do this?

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:52:44

Ha ha, gotcha knobhead Justin

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:56:50

Well done Justin!

I knew he wouldn't do it!

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:56:55

Whoops Justin not knobhead after all...

Not-a-knobhead Jason!

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:57:52

I don't like this woman though.

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:58:07

This blonde one is doing my head in... worse than useless as a love interest

She's a scary lady, run Luther.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:58:12

Whoops! That's why I'm not a detective.

Gooseysgirl Tue 09-Jul-13 21:59:04

Although I suppose he deserves a shag after the day he's had

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 21:59:17

She kissed him envy

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 21:59:44

I am so jealous of scary blonde snogging adonis elba envy

AmberLeaf Tue 09-Jul-13 22:00:10

Hello Munchkins smile

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 09-Jul-13 22:02:52

Hello AmberLeaf!

mummylin Tue 09-Jul-13 22:03:12

That was good. Not as scary as last week but I'm buggered if I would of gone up those stairs on my own !

guineapiglet Tue 09-Jul-13 22:13:51

Watched and enjoyed every minute of it, - well except the bit in the house - I would have legged it out of the front door if I had heard noises like that coming from above, but they never do do they? So glad Justin didnt do the dirty, never thought he would really.... don't like the look of the trailer for next week......

< wouldn't have minded being on the other end of that kiss though>

FairyThunderthighs Tue 09-Jul-13 22:29:13

I thought that guineapiglet . Flatmate blatantly not home, weird banging noises from upstairs, you don't FAFF around cooking dinner in your posh kitchen, you get the fuck out! Stupid women.

I love this programme SO MUCH. Even though I now have to get OH to go to the bathroom and check it before I go,then stand outside the door...

Moominsarehippos Tue 09-Jul-13 22:33:38

Bang bang bang
Bangity bang bang bang
Bang thump thump baaaaaang

Would you? Just would you?

Lighthousekeeping Tue 09-Jul-13 22:48:21

Luther is single in RL. I don't know what this gives me hope.

Sparklysilversequins Tue 09-Jul-13 22:52:36

Blonde is in NO way good enough for the pinnacle of hotness that is our Luther. Hopefully Alice will come back next week and put it all to rights.

Helpyourself Tue 09-Jul-13 22:53:05

It's very uneven. Some very bad acting. but idris is lovely

Lighthousekeeping Tue 09-Jul-13 22:58:44

Really? I thought the acting was fine? Mine you, I'm no expert!

FairyThunderthighs Tue 09-Jul-13 23:28:48

Alice may be a psychopath but she's a stone cold fox,I love her! A fantastic opposite to the gorgeous Luther.

anonacfr Tue 09-Jul-13 23:38:12

Blonde is bizarrely scatty. There is no way Luther would go for her jealous me, nooooo

The dickhead photo was priceless.

Not sure who this inquisitor guy is. Who is funding his personal vendetta? And how ironic that he bleats on about Luther not following protocol and then proceeds to illegally enter his flat...

Can Mumsnet peeps arrange some kind of live web chat with Idris???? He needs to know he has a huge underground fanbase!

anonacfr Tue 09-Jul-13 23:40:14

Justin's statement was lovely though...

lovelychops Tue 09-Jul-13 23:43:48

Have only started watching this series, who is this Alice you speak of?

Blonde woman can't act or is she not who she says she is?

Luther is so very fine grin

Ellenora5 Wed 10-Jul-13 02:10:23

Phew, Justin did the right thing, really didn't think (was hoping) he would hang Luther out to dry, loved the photo on the phone, dickhead grin, not really feeling the love with blondie at all, especially when I saw what's coming up next week, looks like a new story, fingers crossed for Alice to put in an appearance, there was a tear in Luthers eye, is it to do with blondie or Alice...hmmmm can't wait for next week

coffeeinbed Wed 10-Jul-13 07:22:23

Alice is a murdeter from series one.
She's a psychopath and they gave a connection and she helped him out.
She's the one who sends the postcards.
She's a genius as well.
--unlike bl

coffeeinbed Wed 10-Jul-13 07:23:44

unlike blonde

anonacfr Wed 10-Jul-13 10:00:18

They met when Luther investigated the murder of her parents- it was the case Justin was referring to at the beginning of his statement.

AmberLeaf Wed 10-Jul-13 10:07:09

Lovelychops. You need to watch series 1 and 2. Alice is a brilliant character. I can only imagine what she is getting up to on her world tour (assuming those postcards are from her) really hope she is going to make an appearance this series.

mixedmamameansbusiness Wed 10-Jul-13 12:02:51

Belatedly joining.

This thread had reminded me that I missed everything after series 1 of Whitechapel and the lovely Rupert.

Another Idris Elba fan ... I hated The Wire but he helped me stick with it.

Luther is the best thin on TV, I look around the room at random moments like when he was coming out from under the bed and DH looks for my reactions so he can poke me at the right moment and scare the shit out if me.

mixedmamameansbusiness Wed 10-Jul-13 12:03:32

I have seen Alice in costume dramas since and cannot take her seriously. She was a fantastic character.

Much as I love Idris Elba and John Luther, I have to agree with the comments about the acting in places. Dear god those nurses dialogue was clunking louder than wardrobe man.
Still, good silly fun.

lovelychops Wed 10-Jul-13 19:41:35

I definitely need to watch series one and two. Are they online does anyone know?
I like the sound of Alice. (As a juicy character, not the psychopath bit!)
My 76 year old mother in law told me she fancies Luther!

FairyThunderthighs Wed 10-Jul-13 21:17:50

lovelychops season one is on lovefilm at the moment if you have it. Season two, and probably one, is hypothetically available on those BAD NASTY EVIL torrent sites that I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND <<cough, tpb, cough>> if you use them. Which I don't.

Or someone up thread said they're showing on the TV channel alibi, I don't know if that's satellite or what.

anonacfr Thu 11-Jul-13 12:23:05

<grin at lovelychops' mother in law>

Who can blame her?

SuburbanCrofter Thu 11-Jul-13 13:03:46

Alice is aces. I know what you mean about her in costume dramas, wasn't she in Jane Eyre? Guess it would've livened things up a bit if she'd murdered the horrible people at the boarding school and hid the gun in a dog grin

I really don't like the blonde love interest. She makes my teeth hurt. There's more chemistry between Luther and the police lady who's trying to fit him up hmm Never mind though, Justin still lurrves him smile

diddl Thu 11-Jul-13 13:22:33

Alice absolutely irritates me.

Cooroo Thu 11-Jul-13 22:36:06

Series 1 & 2 are on Netflix now. Diddl I think you're alone - I love Alice too! Have a friend who is rather like her ... When we first watched it my DP and I turned to each other and said 'my god it's X'.

anonacfr Fri 12-Jul-13 10:32:17

No she's not alone! I know Alice is meant to be the yang to Luther's yin etc but she always annoyed me too.
She was/is way too smug.

diddl Fri 12-Jul-13 10:53:12

Ooh-there's 2 0f us now!grin

3 - She's one of the least belivable characters I've ever come across. And not as hot as she thinks she is. Ha!

Well I love Alice grin

Alice began to get on my wick.

The vigilante is quite sweet, isn't he?

aristocat Tue 16-Jul-13 21:37:40

I watch Luther too grin. Hope Alice does return so much nicer than blondie!

Gooseysgirl Tue 16-Jul-13 21:56:43

OMG Justin!!! Vigilante not so nice now...

I don't like him anymore!

ParkerTheThief Tue 16-Jul-13 22:04:27

Noooo, Justin.

Jux Tue 16-Jul-13 22:07:10

I don't remember his wife being dead. The last I remember was him telling her to take the kids and go to her mum's. Or have I made that up? She was a blonde. Am I thinking of the right thing?

Cooroo Tue 16-Jul-13 22:09:43

Next week on... Gave too much away. But we knew she' be back b

ParkerTheThief Tue 16-Jul-13 22:10:04

His wife died in series one. She was dark with curly hair - they had split up and she had a new partner (one of the MGann brothers) but Luther still loved her

FairyThunderthighs Tue 16-Jul-13 22:10:23

NOOOOOOOOOO!! Now Luther is going to be all conflicted because of Justin and potentially Mary and he was doing so well...<<sob>> what a brilliant episode. As always.

Oh no, not Justin hmm

Ellenora5 Tue 16-Jul-13 22:23:36

Bloody brilliant as usual, poor Justin, and I thought Mary was in on the plot to bring Luther down, last one next week and Alice is back grin wonder what will happen, she won't be too fond of Mary!!

Jux Tue 16-Jul-13 22:33:35

It is riveting. I really hoped Justin would be shot in the leg.

I think I'm thinking of another cop thing. I must be. (Very glamourous business woman is his old Uni girlfriend; she's into something very illegal; he kills her in her hallway.)

anonacfr Tue 16-Jul-13 23:41:36

anonacfr Tue 16-Jul-13 23:43:32

I am heartbroken. I just sat there with my mouth wide open. Why couldn't the cunt run away????? I thought the fence was electrified or too high or something.
He had tons of time to run away!!!!! Instead of just shooting lovely Justin who was just doing his job..... And when Luther told him to get up and then lied down next to him.... <wails>

SinisterBuggyMonth Wed 17-Jul-13 00:09:05

lux is that Line of Duty?

I knew Justin was gonna be killed when Benny said "Take care Justin"

That and the possibility of a love interest in the dodgy police woman, and Luther advising him to go for promotion and sayings he loved him.

anonacfr Wed 17-Jul-13 00:17:33

Luther's love is obviously the kiss of death.

Jux Wed 17-Jul-13 00:20:37

SinisterBuggyMonth, yes. That's the one.

The trouble is I can't remember much of series 1 or 2 of this. I can't remember any of the stuff to do with Luther's wife, or anything much about Alice whom I only know about from reading this thread! And I was rivetted to both of them.

AmberLeaf Wed 17-Jul-13 11:35:12

Just watched on catch up.

Poor Justin...poor Luther!

I take back my initial doubts about Mary.

Very pleased to see Alice is in next weeks episode.

Luther's love is obviously the kiss of death

Its starting to look that way isn't it?

guineapiglet Wed 17-Jul-13 14:44:25

Just watched it on catch up as well as missed the beginning half last night - what an episode... any slight sympathy for the vigilante disappeared when he killed Justin, couldn't believe it at the end when Luther was so distressed he kept shouting at him and lay down next to him sad
Brilliant writing, and good to make us think about what 'we' would have done, and the dangers of letting mob rule via social media take over.... very scary indeed. Brilliant writing and acting. Will miss Justin sad but Warren Brown will be back in Good Cop 2 I think.

susiedaisy Wed 17-Jul-13 15:28:19

Marking my place loving this series so far.

susiedaisy Wed 17-Jul-13 15:30:06

How many episodes in this series I've just saw an advert for next weeks and they called it the season finaleshock

LondonNinja Wed 17-Jul-13 19:36:15

Four episodes only. Far too short!

I don't really know who Alice is, except she's a psycho? Why is she so popular? Why isn't she locked up?

SinisterBuggyMonth Wed 17-Jul-13 21:30:09

Luther helped Alice escape by throwing her and apple core over the prison wall. Yes really.

ParkerTheThief Wed 17-Jul-13 21:58:01

Alice killed her parents - she was the first case we saw Luther investigate in Series One.

At the end of Series One she also killed Ian Reed (Luther's fomer best friend who had killed Luther's wife) and she was locked up. In Series Two Luther helped her escape - he hid a key card in an apple core and threw it over the wall.

Ellenora5 Thu 18-Jul-13 01:54:19

He needed her help in series 2 that's why he helped her escape, she is nuts, but brilliantly nutty, she is coming back to help Luther, wonder does he get in touch with her or does she just turn up, I can't wait for next week and then that will be it for another year or so sad nothing beats it on telly, best show ever.

anonacfr Thu 18-Jul-13 07:11:53

I don't think he did it because he needed her help. It was more because he felt he owed her.
As it turned out he did end up 'using' her to help someone else but I don't think it's made clear that he even told her about it.

AmberLeaf Thu 18-Jul-13 18:00:28

I think Alice comes back because she saw this weeks 'case' online in the news and probably vigilante mans website.

diddl Thu 18-Jul-13 18:07:37

Thank goodness she's only in the one Ep.

Is this the last ever series?

LondonNinja Thu 18-Jul-13 18:40:20

Thanks for the replies. Alice sounds awful - I am going to have to watch series one and two to see how it works. Luther helping her escape sounds so far-fetched.

Methinks Idris Elba's next move is a Luther film.

AmberLeaf Thu 18-Jul-13 19:16:56

Alice is really not awful!

You have to watch the first two series to get a feel for her though, if you understand her back story then she isn't really awful.

Her character works well alongside Luthers.

Here we go!

Allthingspretty Tue 23-Jul-13 21:07:05

Aluce the TV anti hero.

I guessed that she hid the thw dead dog seriea one episode one.

My MSW habit.has.obviously.paid dividends

Ellenora5 Tue 23-Jul-13 21:09:49

Last one, can't wait to see it, bet it's brill

Allthingspretty Tue 23-Jul-13 21:10:43

Yes it will be a good one!

Allthingspretty Tue 23-Jul-13 21:21:27

Why is Alice back?I missed it due to putting or trying to give thw dog its eye drops?

Dofs a wriggly little bugger

Allthingspretty Tue 23-Jul-13 22:00:14

That ending was strange...

mummylin Tue 23-Jul-13 22:01:37

I loved it. Hope we don't have to wait too long for the Next series if there is one . Was glad to see Alice return.

MikeLitoris Tue 23-Jul-13 22:06:41

As much as I LOVE Luther I didn't like the ending.

Alice is a brilliant character but her and John and a couple is just a no no.

Ds is sure this is the last ever. Idris is doing so well with films now he may not want to do tv anymore sad

The coat in the river made me well up a bit.

To me the Erin Grey look at the end seemed a bit like unfinished business.

Gutted it is finished

Ellenora5 Tue 23-Jul-13 22:07:14

I thought it was brill, the ending was a great twist, bring on the next series, think Alice is great.

Great thread everyone, see you on series 4 grin

It was far too short a series.

MacaYoniandCheese Tue 23-Jul-13 22:09:37

Aaaagh! Aaaagh! Spoilers!

We're only on episode two here! <deeply traumatized from paper mask lady and attic victim in episode 1).

mummylin Tue 23-Jul-13 22:10:12

mike I hope your ds is wrong about there being another series !

guineapiglet Tue 23-Jul-13 22:12:45

Very sad to see the coat bobbing luther and worried about his leg....happy to play nurse any time. Very powerful ending with him vindicating himself. Loved seeing Alice again., she should have her own series.

Glad to see Mary go, how could she have doubted him??
Series 4 asap!!

Queenbee245 Tue 23-Jul-13 22:30:23

I don't think there will be a series 4, I'm sure idris said in an interview that this 4part series would be the last, I believe there's talk of a film though

mrsdinklage Tue 23-Jul-13 22:30:50

there is talk of a Luther film. I thought it had a good ending tonight.
yy to Alice getting her own series.

Twirlyhot Wed 24-Jul-13 01:30:43

I love Alice. I was a bit surprised at the end but loved the pull away from the kiss. They weren't 'a couple' but they share a bond. I really love Alice. And her nail.

mrsdinklage Wed 24-Jul-13 09:50:59

And - there was a certain frisson between Mary and Alice ..............

MikeLitoris Wed 24-Jul-13 10:22:00

I would be happy with the ending if I knew there would be another series.

It just felt unresolved to me.

mrsdinklage Wed 24-Jul-13 11:23:55

But I thought Idris said there would be a film ? (maybe that was wishful thinking)

Backpaw Wed 24-Jul-13 12:57:06

I don't remember Alice but she's a bit too comic book for me! She is very pretty though.

Why didn't anyone say - "I see you have a hole in your leg - you might want a plaster for that".

I suspect there won't be any more but am hoping for a film or at least a film length telly-special.

VianneFox Wed 24-Jul-13 22:06:43

I love Alice! The coat in the river was too much for me- I may have had a slight lump in my throat

HeavenlyYoni Wed 24-Jul-13 22:26:10

We call Alice Duck Face. Hoping there will be another series too.

mrsdinklage Wed 24-Jul-13 22:40:04

I get the Duck Face - but Alice is so enigmatic !

Alice must have her own series

I can already imagine what it could be

Alice - the teenage years

Alice gets married

wine - guess I've already had one too many grin

diddl Thu 25-Jul-13 19:34:04

Well, what a load of bollocks that was.

Was so hoping that Marwood would shoot Alice.

anonacfr Thu 25-Jul-13 22:58:27

I don't get why Luther had to follow Alice. She was already gone! Mary grew on me in that last episode.
So did Alice actually, she was less smug and more fun.
