As my name suggests, I am a Ben & Holly fan, I like Mrs Elf but Nanny Plum is my fav. Is she the best? Any other contenders out there??

OneHolyCow Fri 03-May-13 15:49:08

Pippi Longstocking

that's it, no discussion

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 15:54:26

I loved Bagpuss as a little one, then Postman Pat (now realise his nose is very questionable) then Roland Rat - all good candidates.

Pippi Longstocking - I must have missed that - clearly need to check that out

PeterParkerSays Fri 03-May-13 15:56:17

Windy Miller - doing freerange eggs and cycling over car use since 1966 and the only children's TV character allowed to get pi$$ed on scrumpy and fall asleep whilst on screen

KatoPotato Fri 03-May-13 15:56:18

Zippy from Rainbow. Absolute riot he was!

fuzzpig Fri 03-May-13 15:56:58

TopCat, Hong Kong Phooey, Dangermouse, Penfold?!

Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents gets my vote though!

fuzzpig Fri 03-May-13 16:01:45

Actually no - I suggest The Big Knights (in particular Sir Doris the hamster!)

VerySmallSqueak Fri 03-May-13 16:03:03

Mr Benn.

RebeccaMumsnet (MNHQ) Fri 03-May-13 16:19:56

Mrs Rabbit from Peppa Pig

lurcherlover Fri 03-May-13 16:22:35

Treguard from Knightmare. "Oooh, nasty...

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 16:45:52

Also....Worst Children's TV Character?

I'm not thinking mean. I'm thinking more annoying, irritating, please stop watching this program now.

DH hates the whole of Bubble Guppies - what is that all about??

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 16:47:27

Just looked up Treguard on youtube - had totally forgotten about that one - great trip down memory lane smile

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 16:49:49

Mist the Sheepdog tails on Channel 5 - really hideous and awful - had to look it up to remind myself just how bad it was, before announcing that I hate it.

cocolepew Fri 03-May-13 16:52:29

Spongebob, Count Duckula and Penfold.

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 17:10:23

Love Count Duckula - hilarious!

orangeandemons Fri 03-May-13 17:20:44

Hector from Hectors House.

Also Parsley the lion and the Chives from The Herbs grin

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 17:25:41

ohh yes, parsley the lion, good choice

zeldapinwheel Fri 03-May-13 17:31:59

Mr Spoon from button moon.

Or fingermouse.

I currently hate the Ha Ha Hairies, wtaf is that all about?!

MrsMaryCooper Fri 03-May-13 17:33:00

Clangers. All of them.

orangeandemons Fri 03-May-13 17:39:55

Nah the Soup Dragon was the best thing on the Clangers. Mind the Froglets and the Singingringing tree were pretty cool too.

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 17:45:22

Just looked up Ha Ha Hairies - I second that statement - WTAF?

trice Fri 03-May-13 17:52:41

I was going to say Hector from hector's house too orangeandemons! I have him as a stuffed toy in my bed.

Worst would be the Numbertaker from numberjacks. Absolutely terrifying.

fossil971 Fri 03-May-13 17:57:34

Morph

Yama Fri 03-May-13 18:03:26

I love Hacker. Or maybe it's Iain I enjoy. Confused.

sassytheFIRST Fri 03-May-13 18:04:30

Best - Skeleton from Superted -"ooh, Tex, you're sooo

Worst - wizbit. Without a doubt.

VerySmallSqueak Fri 03-May-13 18:17:02

Oh I've just remembered how much I loved the Wonder Pets when mine used to watch them.

Dora the Explorer is a PITA.Always bloody repeating stuff.

Startail Fri 03-May-13 18:28:58

Morph
Shirley the Sheep

Best of all
Brian the Snail (Magic Roundabout for youngsters)

Annoying - Tracy Beaker for not getting adopted after one series.

Yama Fri 03-May-13 18:42:36

Actually, the character that has stayed with me the longest is Supergran.

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 19:23:14

OMG! Super Gran - I vaguely remember watching that on Saturday night before Bullseye. Off to google it now...

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 19:34:33

Teddy Ruckspin - he was so cute and loved his little adventures. Which also reminds me of the Gummy Bears - bouncing here and there and everywhere... there are so many good ones!!

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 19:36:01

Also Waybaloo sucks balls

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 19:39:53

Rainbow Bright - I had the doll - loved her. Just looking through this site [http://www.80scartoons.co.uk/]

IamMrsElf Fri 03-May-13 19:40:07
comeonbishbosh Fri 03-May-13 22:22:31

Ivor the Engine gets my vote, though Morph also a good call. <shows age>

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood Fri 03-May-13 22:26:07

mr noseybonk has to be one of the scariest.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood Fri 03-May-13 22:26:58

Jamie ... Jamie..... Jamie and the magic torch... has to be one of the best

AnneEyhtMeyer Fri 03-May-13 22:28:25

Mrs Popoff from Rentaghost.

NeverKnowinglyUnderstood Fri 03-May-13 22:30:10
PelvicFloorClenchReminder Fri 03-May-13 22:32:40

Dobbin the fine steed from Rentaghost, tied in first place with Idris the dragon from Ivor the Engine.

Honourable mention goes to Professor Yaffle from Bagpuss, with a very special mention for Dick from the famous five.

Suzieismyname Fri 03-May-13 22:34:03

Nanny Plum is a fucking legend.

That woman from 'Come Outside' is vile. Especially the shit episode.

idiot55 Fri 03-May-13 22:34:20

jonny Briggs or the boy from woof

deleted203 Fri 03-May-13 22:35:00

Humphrey Cushion. Or Hartley Hare.

SinisterBuggyMonth Sun 05-May-13 23:33:17

I liked Calm Down from Stop it and Tidy Up

Obv. Tucker

All Of Them from Press Gang. All. Of. Them. Especially Colin.

These days I liked Neep add ZigZoo

FayeKorgasm Sun 05-May-13 23:48:07

A rather fat feathery owl called Sage.

From The Herbs.

marjproops Mon 06-May-13 18:00:18

Sweep from sooty and sweep.

Rattus Rattus from horrible histories. hes especially funny in HH gory games with Dave Lamb. great double act.

worst has to be Su from sooty and sweep. interfering nag she is!!!!

PaddingtonBearsDuffleCoat Wed 08-May-13 20:06:52

Without a shadow of a doubt it is Shaun the Sheep. All my adult friends adore him.

gerbilsarefun Thu 09-May-13 11:08:44

Sweep is ace, really mischievous, Soo is quite a boring goody-goody. Roland from Grange Hill, Max from the Tweenies - a big kid at heart who loved a nap whilst looking after children. Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble, Grommit - obviously the brains of the house, Dr. Bob and Beaker from the Muppets.

DumSpiroSpero Thu 09-May-13 11:14:05

From my own childhood - Bagpuss, Mr Ben and the Flumps, especially Pootle.

From DD's - Slugsy & Primrose from Fifi and the Flower Tots, Daddy Pig and Charlie & Lola.

DH's fave would be Snoopy - we used to collect Peanuts memorabilia and have as 4ft tall one in the loft!grin

MuseumOfHam Thu 09-May-13 11:20:02

I'm with you OP. As soon as I saw the thread title I thought Nanny Plum. We're going to see Ben & Holly on stage in a few weeks, I can't wait, er, I mean DS is very exited about it. I know the actors won't be the same people who do the character voices, but still.

Worst current is dull, patronising Driver Dan.

From way back when, Bagpuss was the best.
