TrampyPanterNoster Sat 30-Mar-13 11:49:48

Just over 57 hours to go...

I really can't wait. In fact, I'm going to nc in a bit to honour the return of Tyrion, Robb, Jon Snow, Brienne and Arya.

Anyone else practically wetting themselves in excitment?

ShipwreckedAndComatose Sat 30-Mar-13 12:06:50

Me!

With this and Dr Who, I'm beside myself!

Jacksterbear Sat 30-Mar-13 12:12:13

Ahhh lovely Jon Snow! Yay!

TrampyPanterNoster Sat 30-Mar-13 12:17:57

I can't wait!!

have you read the books? it'll be a huge season

peachyglow Sat 30-Mar-13 12:21:02

I didn't know it was due back on, do you know time and channel?

TrampyPanterNoster Sat 30-Mar-13 12:22:09

9pm, monday on Sky Atlantic. It'll be online too from monday morning.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 12:23:51

Yay, love it grin

peachyglow Sat 30-Mar-13 12:27:37

Oh that's made my day that has, can't wait.

dothraki Sat 30-Mar-13 12:37:05

There was a thread not long ago - and one mner's baby is in the new seriessmile
I clearly have no need to change my name
Unless of course things go badly wrong grin

dothraki Sat 30-Mar-13 12:39:36

By the way I do not have Sky Atlantic
DD - be warned - I might be popping round (for alot of foreseeable Mondays)
wink

GhostOfTheRobot Sat 30-Mar-13 12:40:30

Love it. Haven't read the books though.

Are we finally going to get Dany kicking ass with her dragons, then? The trailer sort of hinted at it.

TrampyPanterNoster Sat 30-Mar-13 12:40:35

Dothraki grin yes, Jon snow is very pretty in rl, IIRC

TrampyPanterNoster Sat 30-Mar-13 12:41:08

Ghost, there is an awesome bit with the dragons. just freaking awesome!

LittleBairn Sat 30-Mar-13 12:41:20

I'm so jealous we no longer have sky. sad

dothraki Sat 30-Mar-13 12:47:33

So Trampy - is it your baby ? I remember the mum being smitten with Jon Snow grin. I've also seen Aryia stark dancing around mn this morning......

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 12:49:31

nah, it wasnt me. I started the old thread though. I am very predictable. And sad.. plus, I'm more of a Robb gal <cries>

littlebairn sad there are quite a few online streaming sites like Cucirca that will have it.

GhostOfTheRobot Sat 30-Mar-13 12:56:33

Oo great! Is it Joffrey that gets a toastin' ?

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 12:58:10

no, sadly not. I can pm you if you really want to know...

GreenLeafTea Sat 30-Mar-13 13:01:43

I'm also excited. I've read all the books so far so I know what's coming.

I love Jon Snow too. Hate Joffrey!

I wish he'd hurry up and finish the last two books but I can see why they take so long.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 13:11:40

Joffery is a major twat, i use to hate Sansa thought she was a bit meh but starting to like her now.

I want Jon Snows babies, god he's yummy!!

Robb is Bleurgh!!

CatelynStark Sat 30-Mar-13 13:14:13

I haven't got Sky Atlantic sad but I've read all the books and am dying to see this series.

Has anybody got an online link? <desperate>

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 13:38:59

greenleaf, me too. I have all my theories written down to cross off when I'm right all is revealed.

Catelyn, this is the site I use for US times

Cookie, I felt the same about Sansa. I loved the bit in Blackwater when she asks Joffrey if he will fight in the Vanguard. Brilliant.
a little gratuitous eye-candy

GhostOfTheRobot Sat 30-Mar-13 13:47:57

Ah thanks but I think i'll wait and see, Tyrion.
Despite my deep curiosity I don't want to know really!
I always thought Arya would kill Joffrey but Sansa would be good. The woman-hating arse deserves to die at the hands of one of the Stark ladies.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 14:23:19

Ghost, my lips are sealed. I can't bear Joffrey. In a book/series where all the heroes are flawed and most of the villains have redeeming qualities, he is a truly evil oddity.

CatelynStark Sat 30-Mar-13 14:23:37

Many thanks, TyrionsTPs grin

Book three is absolutely FANTASTIC so I'm sure that the telly version will be too. Cannot wait!!

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 14:26:17

tbh, I'm a bit worried about some parts. The RW in particular. I will cry.

CatelynStark Sat 30-Mar-13 14:32:12

Yes, the RW will be pretty gruelling sad

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 14:33:22

Tyrions - that link is lovely smile althought Theon again Bleurgh

I have read the books so i know whats going to happen, but i won't ruin it for you!!

I'm still cross they killed off Eddard Stark (Ned) (Sean Bean) i watched season 1 first then read the book, i cried lots when i saw it, then when i read it i was telling DH, they can't kill him in here to hmm blush

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 14:33:27

Everytime I read it, I cry. And while I know it will be awesome visually, I'm pretty sad about actually seeing it happen.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 14:34:50

Cookie, I feel sorry for Theon now. He's so lost and doesn't belong anywhere. not on the iron islands, not in the north... and I love the way that Alfie Allen plays him.

GreenLeafTea Sat 30-Mar-13 14:37:00

Are they splitting book three into two series? I thought I read that somewhere but now I can't remember.

Some things are worse in the books like in series two the two little boys were flayed not burnt. It was awful. I'm dreading the Bastard of Bolton turning up because he is truly evil in the books.

I think the author has a soft spot for Tyrion. I love Bron's one liners.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 14:38:25

Hmmmmm now i feel sorry for him, but way back then i just thought you deserve everything you got. And he is ugly <sorry> maybe he is good looking in real life but i'm not feeling it.

Jamie was a real arse in the beginning couldn't stand him, but now i'm loving him, love love love him!!

Sorry from what you said i thought you hadn't read the books. blush

There are scenes from the books that i am desperate to see.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 14:38:50

I read that too. its such a huge book, that it makes sense. I'm dreading Ramsay too. evil.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 14:40:31

oh, no, Ive read them all. just trying to be discreet for those who haven't.

I love Jaime. I love the journey he goes on, and his salvation. I also love Bronn. I like him better on tv than in the books, and Tyrion is perfectly cast.

Gingerdodger Sat 30-Mar-13 15:18:37

Can't wait.

I love Tyrion in the books and in the series.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 15:26:03

I do like Bronn but he has a fickle character so can't like him, i can't stand fickle people.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:22:40

this is a pretty good trailer and shows Robb going into the twins.

an extended trailer

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:26:31

oooh, and this

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 16:26:40

<LOVE IT>

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:30:27

I keep seeing glimpses of things and squee-ing (which, is incidentally the noise that ds told his teacher I make when I'm excited/happy) Did you see Brienne and the bear?

Trills Sat 30-Mar-13 16:33:48

I'm looking forward to seeing Sansa getting better at playing the game.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:36:38

me too, Trills. she really starts to come into her own in these books.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 16:47:03

Ahh bloody hell i just wrote a reply andit buggered off!!

Start again

Have you seen the actress who plays Brienne in real life shock

YY to Sansa!!

Was the bear scene in that clip, will go back and have another look see smile

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:50:11

She's gorgeous isn't she? but enormous. I love her as Brienne though, it must have been tough to cast.

the bear was in the extended (iirc)

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 16:50:32

Bah i didn't see the 2nd link and also now i click on it and it won't let me see them any more sad

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 16:53:13

Yy absolutely stunning!! And yet Brienne is not. TV magic is amazing!!

Will try and get it to load again smile

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:54:51

they still work for me, how odd.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 16:56:07

It loaded yay!!

I am getting rather exicited!!

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 16:56:24

grin

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 16:57:24

It kept opening but then wouldn't load, it showed the annoying bar and let me press play but i wouldn't play hmm

but it has now!!

I have to say Jon and Yigrette <that is all>

Trills Sat 30-Mar-13 17:06:21

This thread says "with spoilers" - are we allowed book spoilers?

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 17:11:24

I think so, I have asked MNHQ if they can introduce a spoiler button, but it clearly says spoilers.

Trills Sat 30-Mar-13 17:22:45

In which case I want to say ...

BOOK SPOILER DON'T READ THIS IF YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENS IN BOOK 3

I think there will be a resounding cheer throughout the land at a certain event at Joffrey's wedding.

(OK I bottled it, don't want to ruin it for anyone).

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 17:24:06

I can't wait for that! I saw Joffrey walking Sansa to her groom and thought... You weasel.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 17:26:15

Yes so looking forward to that <shakes fist at Joffery> JUST YOU WAIT YOU SNIVELING LITTLE SHIT

blush not a fan of Joffery blush

Trills Sat 30-Mar-13 17:27:47

Puffed up little arrogant coward

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 17:28:23

Couldn't happen to a nicer turd!

ShipwreckedAndComatose Sat 30-Mar-13 17:33:23

He is utterly foul, isn't he!! great creation

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 17:42:22

You can really see his mother in him, Cersei what a bitch. Not sure what Jamie saw in her, a reflection of himself i guess hmm

Glad he got away from her!!

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 17:57:00

She's awful, but you can see why she becomes like this. imagine being married off to a man who was in love with a dead woman, always stuck in this godawful role. knowing that you are cleverer and more ruthless than the men around you. And she does love her children.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 18:00:31

Very true but regardless of all that. She treats Tyrion appallingly which is unforgivable in my eyes any way!!

Trills Sat 30-Mar-13 18:01:50

Jamie Lannister is not exactly nice himself.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 18:05:06

thats the thing, all the characters are so rounded. with the exception of Joffrey and Ramsay, all the baddies have some redeeming features.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 18:07:14

No Jamie Lannister is not nice at all (although not bad on the eyes wink ), but then he didn't play any role in Joffery's up bringing, well absentee Uncle. IIRC he didn't know he was the father until the later books or am i remembering that wrong?

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 18:09:37

he tries though, doesn't he? I love the speech he gave catelyn when he was captive. The "so many rules" one. And he tries to change. both of them can blame Tywin really.

Trills Sat 30-Mar-13 18:11:26

He knows he's the father, but Cersei did her best to never have them stand next to each other lest someone think "hey, that kid looks nothing like Robert"

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 18:18:59

Tywin the route of all evil smile

MrsJaqenHgar Sat 30-Mar-13 18:19:21

I am giving praise to the old gods and the new for the return of GoT. I may even celebrate with some cheap Rioja Dornish wine grin

'Tis my DD who makes an appearance this season. We filmed last August/September. Assuming her scenes haven't ended up on the cutting room floor, she'll appear in one of the later episodes towards the end of the season.

I am very excited. Think I might have to change my name in honour--won't be much of a stretch to become a direwolf!

I'm massively excited and very much dreading this series...

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 18:49:38

Mrs, aha. I shall bake some lemon cakes

Right, name changed. I am ready for GoT series 3, even though I know what's coming.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 19:13:27

Love the name grin

JulesJules Sat 30-Mar-13 19:13:59

DH and I cant wait. He's read all the books, I haven't. Going to watch the last ep of last series on Sunday night, gearing up for Monday, Wine and snacks will be required...

catgirl1976 Sat 30-Mar-13 19:48:21

Me grin

I may wee with excitement

sapphirestar Sat 30-Mar-13 20:53:45

I wish I had sky! Book 3 was by far my favourite!
Dying to see Jon Snow and Ygritte, RW will be horrendous though.
I'd heard it would be a season for book 3 part 1 and same for book 3 part 2.
Suppose if they make them too quickly we'll be waiting for the next book to come out!

JaquelineHyde Sat 30-Mar-13 20:59:15

I cannot wait for Monday, this seems to have taken forever to come round!

TyrionsTrampyPants Sat 30-Mar-13 21:25:40

oh yes, book three is the best book by far.

I assume that series 3 will end on the RW (and maybe beric & thoros finding Cat) leaving Joffrey's wedding til series 4

LittleBairn Sat 30-Mar-13 21:29:41

A book 3 it would have been even better for me if I hadn't went to google something I thOugh was fairly small amd unimportant in the novel only to spoil my myself about the RW!!! sad
I never ever google anythingim reading now.

JaimeLannistersLadyLove Sat 30-Mar-13 21:32:48

I can't wait, but I hope the next series is better than the last. I found it a little disappointing.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 21:33:22

Oh no please don't say that about Joffery sad

When i read the RW i was in outrage, my jaw hit the floor shock

Can someone tell me what RW is? I adore GoT but never read the books. I don't mind spoilers.

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 22:29:13

Mrs i pm'd you smile

LittleBairn Sat 30-Mar-13 23:11:09

Oh mrs don't spoil yourself its such a massive spoiler.

I love it! Cannot wait! grin

I am really looking forward to seeing how Arya's relationship with the Lannister continues. That and how Sansa changes as she got really interesting towards the end of the last series!

GhostOfTheRobot I love your NN, if it's inspired by the band with James Marsters I'm even more impressed!

abbyfromoz Sat 30-Mar-13 23:20:23

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!!

cookielove Sat 30-Mar-13 23:32:31

I pm'd what the initials stood for but not what they meant, just in case anyone thought i may have ruined it for Mrs promise i haven't grin

JulesJules Sun 31-Mar-13 08:56:29
LaVitaBellissima Sun 31-Mar-13 09:18:13

I was beside myself when I realised changing from Sky to Virgin meant we no longer get sky Atlantic.
I am not very tech savvy, can I just watch the site linked to before - for free? I am clueless!

Please to me I can, I love Game of Thrones!

BlueyDragon Sun 31-Mar-13 09:25:48

Can't wait - there will be dragons!

Jacksterbear Sun 31-Mar-13 09:57:33

Haha love that theme tune clip Jules! Had forgotten how awesome the theme tune, and in fact that whole opening credits sequence with the map, is!

GhostOfTheRobot Sun 31-Mar-13 10:09:17

Bingo, Pixie.
Obscure Buffy geek fact ahoy! grin

Ghost Awesome grin They are great live. I'm going to go listen to them again later!

My Dh claims that he saw Theon in the trailer...I hope not. His story needs to be kept behind the scenes, as it were. When I read the reveal of what had happend to him in ADWD I gasped and cried.

I can't think of how to make that more vague, sorry!

TyrionsTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 11:05:10

Littledirewolf, I agree. It won't be pleasant. But we have a ramsay, and where there's a ramsay, there's a reek sad

Lavita, yes, its free. Its a site use to watch himym.

Jules, that's ace!

GhostOfTheRobot Sun 31-Mar-13 11:10:50

Ah, not actually heard their music, just loved their James Masters name! blush
Might see if they're on Spotify!

Back to GOT - please tell me Jaqen makes an appearance! Love him.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 11:13:40

Ghost, 'fraid not. Not in the book anyway. But there is someone quite similar.

GhostOfTheRobot Sun 31-Mar-13 11:49:31

Nooooooo, he gave Arya the special coin?!

HandOfTheKing Sun 31-Mar-13 11:59:17

Hodor.

TyrionsTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 12:35:32

Don't worry. She uses it. she has to get to Robb and Catelyn first though.

have decided to change my name to UnsulliedTrampypants.

OzmaofOz Sun 31-Mar-13 13:36:31

Another huge fan booking in, cant wait. I am pretty sure its the first half the the third book, but not too sure what they will manage to cram in.
Yes, the RW is going to be big, my DP has not read the books so I have been trying not to let anything slip.

UnsulliedTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 13:40:07

It will be the biggest shock to those who haven't read the books, since Ned stood on Baelor's Sept. Saying that, about halfway through the first series (before I had read the books) I said to DH "Ned will die" I just had a feeling. especially when Robert died.

Jacksterbear Sun 31-Mar-13 14:02:03

Arghh I have read the books but can't remember what the hell happens! Throughout the tv series so far I've generally remembered some key fact just before it's happened in the tv version.

JustWannaDrinkAndDance Sun 31-Mar-13 14:02:33

I also love GoT.

My friends cousin is in it....he was also in Ideal. Not sure of his characters name but he is one of the nightwatch.

LittleBairn Sun 31-Mar-13 14:40:26

I always had the feeling Ned would die too the book was building up to war with him there a lot of what went on wouldn't have happened. Such a Rob being a crap king of the North. His daughters wouldn't have stranded far from home having to fend for themselves and Winterfell and his young boys wouldn't have been left undefended. He needed to Die for the story to be what it is now.

I'm on Book 4 I put them down for awhile because I felt they were all merging and muddling in my mind ( plus GRR being slow at getting them out I had no rush!) but I'm finding it hard to get into with the new and unknown Characters taking up many chapters just get back to the characters we know and love (or despise) does it get better?

UnsulliedTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 14:49:09

tbh, book 4 is my least favourite. its bloody depressing. But, I enjoyed ADWD immensely. I agree about Ned, He was too good. too honourable. And, without Robert to protect him, too vulnerable. Plus, he promised to talk to Jon about his mum. following the rule of Soaps, he was bound to die.

FrauMoose Sun 31-Mar-13 15:01:42

I have played pool with Jon Snow....

UnsulliedTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 15:35:13

Justwanna shock

Fraumoose envy

Marking place!

JustWannaDrinkAndDance Sun 31-Mar-13 16:09:57

If you have watched Ideal he is the one that is always on probabtion.

Very chuffed for him.

JustWannaDrinkAndDance Sun 31-Mar-13 16:14:06

Ben Crompton....

UnsulliedTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 16:22:35

I've just googled and I recognise him! He's one of jon and sams mates!

JustWannaDrinkAndDance Sun 31-Mar-13 16:47:14

I had to google him too. I wasn't sure of his name... I've always known him as 'XXX's cousin from the telly'

feeltheforce Sun 31-Mar-13 17:35:08

Wondering about watching it but can you pick up at this stage or do I need to go right back to the beginning?

UnsulliedTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 17:45:15

feeltheforce, I would start from the beginning, tbh. It gets quite complicated and it helps to know who's who.

Giblet Sun 31-Mar-13 18:09:25

Big fantasy fan here and the books have had me gripped for years. I really think they have really done a fine job with this series and has not disappointed so far.

Did you know that Bronn is played by Jerome Flynn of Robson & Jerome??? Have a gawk at this:
www.uproxx.com/tv/2013/03/21-quick-facts-about-the-cast-of-game-of-thrones-that-you-might-not-know/

Gingerdodger Sun 31-Mar-13 18:11:49

I just don't do fantasy usually but I love this, mainly due to the fantastic characters. Book 3 my favourite too.

cookielove Sun 31-Mar-13 18:16:28

I am very Jealous of Fraumoose <grrrrrr>

I went to school with Ros, anyone jealous of me??? Thought not!! <i'll get my coat>

smile

UnsulliedTrampyPants Sun 31-Mar-13 18:37:06

Thank you Giblet, yes, theyve done a great job. the things that they have changed have been good. Like Arya being Tywin's cupbearer.

Cookie, was she as beautiful in school? She's not shy!

OzmaofOz Sun 31-Mar-13 18:50:28

Little I found book 4 heavy going, book 3 ended on such a high that it didnt really compare. I think because it is new POV, it takes a while to get in to. I would keep on at it though. I really enjoyed ADWD, cant wait for TWOW to come out. Bet it will be a long wait yet though.

JustWannaDrinkAndDance Sun 31-Mar-13 18:58:58
FrauMoose Sun 31-Mar-13 19:12:35

I have been ignoring Game of Thrones, but have just got a loan of the boxed set of Series 1. (Begin at the beginning...)

Gingerdodger Sun 31-Mar-13 19:20:08

Love the above links although Khal Drogo has a touch of the Peter Andre about his no beardy pic.

I would never have thought Sansa was not a natural redhead, she looks so right with red hair and I wouldn't have recognised her as a blonde.

Trills Sun 31-Mar-13 19:32:18

Khal Drogo looks like a prett boy model without his scary eyebrows!

infamouspoo Sun 31-Mar-13 19:43:55

loved all the books and wish GRRMartin would get a move on and finish the frigging series! And loved the TV adaptation although we do keep a boobage count grin
Have it on record for tomorrow as one of the spawn is in hospital so I will still be there. You'd think the stupid ward would have a huge flatscreen and satellite TV wouldnt you, but noooooooooooooo.....
So much eye candy, so little time wink

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Trills Sun 31-Mar-13 19:58:03

We all wish he would get a move on but we have to remember George R R Martin is not our bitch

infamouspoo Sun 31-Mar-13 20:05:35

I know. I live with an author. but still. Come on George! grin grin

LittleBairn Sun 31-Mar-13 20:44:08

grin trills oh trust me we're pretty much his bitches until he ends it.

I actually put off reading the books for a couple of years due to Dean Koontz not finishing the Snow series. I'm still bitter and weary of getting into trillogies or seriels but the books are so successful I can't imagine them not being finished.

Glad to here I should stick with book 4 that it improves. It's tempting just to skip chapters...

Those not with sky, do you need a lot of computer geekry knowledge in order to watch elsewhere?

I enjoyed AFFC, but then I quite like the Greyjoys and the Martells, so it was quite nice for me!

ADWD was better though.

nooka Mon 01-Apr-13 05:59:09

The Hound looks like such a sweetie without his beard (and scars). Khal Drago ticks all my boxes grin. The guy who plays him - not so much!

Jacksterbear Mon 01-Apr-13 09:10:05

That Jason Momoa picture is very old, though, judging by the Baywatch outfit! This might float your boat more! grin

Jacksterbear Mon 01-Apr-13 09:11:51

Oops just randomly linked to a pair of h&m jeans I was recommending on another thread! Will try again...

Jacksterbear Mon 01-Apr-13 09:13:38

Here is th link I was trying to post (I hope!)

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 09:53:15

Watched GOT pre-season 3 show last night & am counting the hours now!

Yikes, those White Walkers are scary.

I have a question: how come the WW army didn't attack the cowering Samwell?

CaliBee Mon 01-Apr-13 10:18:58

Yes...can't wait.
If I ever get the longed for baby and she is a girl I will call her Arya...grin

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 10:30:30

Good luck Calibee, that is a lovely name.smile

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 10:34:13

I find it hard to take the white walkers seriously. I completely ruined the last scene of S2 for DP (diehard GRRM fan who scoffs at me for only getting into the books because of the TV series...I hate fantasy fiction usually) by declaring it 'the Walking Dead on ice'.

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 10:36:36

Good luck, Calibee smile One of the baby extras in S3 is called Arya IRL (not my DD).

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 10:42:56

First episode of season 1 with the White walkers, they were freaky! Then they didn't really do much...

White Walking dead on ice! grin

CaliBee Mon 01-Apr-13 10:48:52

Thankyou ladies...
I just added it to sky plus.
Can't wait

abbyfromoz Mon 01-Apr-13 12:08:43

infamouspoo Mon 01-Apr-13 12:15:00

Anyone else got a small soft spot for the Hound?
blush

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 12:24:02

I thought the white walkers from the last episode of s2 were ok, but prefered the ones from the pilot, tbh. they looked more ethereal.

I love the Hound. I wish that Sansa had go with him, he may not be pretty, but he would protect her at least.

not long to go!!

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 12:25:06

Yes blush and I didn't even recognise him at first!
I really liked the white walkers, the problem with TV/Film is they can just never match up to imagination.

OzmaofOz Mon 01-Apr-13 12:42:21

Yes, I have a soft spot for the hound, I love the relationship between him and Sansa.
I am getting stupidly excited now.
Has anyone bought ASOFAI beer ? I saw it ages ago and meant to get some and do a medieval feast tonight, but forgot so will have to make do with gin and Easter eggs grin

Cooroo Mon 01-Apr-13 12:49:20

Isn't Joffrey's wedding before the RW? Really want DD to watch the former with me, she will be so happy. So hard not to spoil when I've read all the books and she's only watched the series.

Looking forward to tonight! Especially after the absolute tosh that was Labyrinth.

OzmaofOz Mon 01-Apr-13 12:50:44

No it's after. I think it will be in the next series.

OzmaofOz Mon 01-Apr-13 12:51:22

It is really hard not to let things slip. I keep on having to stop myself.

Trills Mon 01-Apr-13 12:54:03

Wikipedia says that Joffrey hears about the RW just before his wedding.

(I would have guessed that RW happened first but that King's Landing didn't get the news til later)

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 13:12:09

yes, doesn't he make a joke about it to Sansa? I'm disappointed that we haven't had jeyne/Talisa's mum. In the book its a big thing and shows Tywin's power

CatelynStark Mon 01-Apr-13 13:21:43

Whoop! grin

cookielove Mon 01-Apr-13 13:25:03

trampypants she was very loud (primary school) and cute. Went to different secondary schools.

I adore the hound, he is so tortured (sob)

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 13:27:07

cookie, dh has a soft spot for her <eyeroll>

cookielove Mon 01-Apr-13 13:33:35

Ha ha, she is rather pretty however her facebook page (yes I am friends with her, although I was before she got the part) is very showy!! hmm

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 13:41:18

If I was that good looking I would be showing it all off all the time too....thankfully I'm plain my parents can rest easy. grin

Pantah630 Mon 01-Apr-13 14:13:13

I don't have sky but the link Trampy posted near the top of the thread worked on the iPad. I am a very happy girl, thank you Trampypants smile

Pantah630 Mon 01-Apr-13 14:14:57

Oh and another with a soft spot for The Hound, wish Sansa had run off with him.
Have started reading the books, not normally my cup of tea, but am hooked. Back to extended bathing to get the peace and quiet to concentrate.

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 14:18:20

I love the Hound. He's one of my favourite characters. I loved his performance in the Battle of Blackwater Episode on S2 when we got to see his more human side.

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 14:23:52

Looking at Trampys link, does it just switch on when the show starts?

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 14:30:06

I'd be semi-naked all the time if I looked like that wink

Pantah, you're welcome, LittleBairn, it's videos that fans put up. so you just press play. its a us site, so ep1 s3 should be on there already

MrsJ, me too. I feel quite sorry for him.

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 14:47:52

Thanks Trampys I'm so dumb when it comes to anything techy.

cookielove Mon 01-Apr-13 14:56:54

smile

She does seem very nice

ShortTermName Mon 01-Apr-13 16:46:17

Only just heard about this series.

Real newcomer question: is it a definite adult programme? When I first heard of it I thought it might be the dcs' cup of tea but this thread suggests not.

What age upwards would you say it was suitable for and is it on DVD? thanks

nooka Mon 01-Apr-13 16:57:15

Definitely for adults. Both in content (bad things happening to good people pretty much all the time), in gore (lots of quite graphic deaths) and also there are some pretty gratuitous sex scenes (the only downside in an otherwise excellent adaptation IMO). Not sure what age would be OK - my two are 13 and 12 and it's definitely not for them. I would imagine the DVDs are 18s.

cookielove Mon 01-Apr-13 16:59:34

MrsJaqenHgar - sorry i missed that you said about your dd ^^ up there somewhere oooh who does she play?

Where is it filmed?

So exciting smile

Short i think it depends on the age of your children and what shows they are use to watching there is blood and gore, and sex and unpleasent scenes. I don't want to give anything away but there is scene in the 1st season that a child may find quite upsetting.

Maybe you could preview it before allowing your children to watch? Not sure if it is on dvd yet, but someone mentioned on another thread that is on SKY demand season 1 and 2 smile

Pantah630 Mon 01-Apr-13 17:02:38

It's an 18 on the DVDs, sex and violence, I shut my eyes for the gory bits and cover DS's. He is a mature 13 and reads far worse in books so I'm happy for him to watch with me. I certainly wouldn't allow his friends round to watch though, unless their parents had approved. I'd watch an episode yourself first, then you can judge only you can know if your children are mature enough to view.

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 17:15:14

Ds is nearly 8 and absolutely not. I would say, in all honesty, that its not at all suitable for kids. The sex scenes are VERY graphic, so are the gory bits. And the c word is used an awful lot too.

Obv, it depends on the kids, but I wouldn't let ds watch until he is a lot older.

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 17:47:06

Cookie, DD is one of several babies who play Gilly's baby.

Most of GoT is filmed in NI. The studio is in Belfast but it films on location all over NI. It also films in Croatia (outdoor Kings Landing scenes) and all the icey 'beyond the wall' scenes are filmed in Iceland. But pretty much everything else is shot in NI. We do the dull, grey grimness required for the scenes n the North particularly well. The rest is down to clever lighting grin

ShortTermName Mon 01-Apr-13 18:21:17

MrsTyrionLannister Mon 01-Apr-13 18:57:03

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 18:57:14

I have the theme tune as my ring tone <not at all obsessed. Oh no. Not me>

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 19:02:20

2 hours to go!!!

Mrsj, oooh, bless. How exciting.

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 19:03:26

It's a darn good theme tune! Love the music. Am also contemplating switching to it.
This way when it goes off other GOT fans might home in on me for geeky banter.

Does it? (i'm the only member of the GOT fanclub here)

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 19:07:11

There's a proper fanclub shock

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 19:07:47

Does it alert other GOT fans...fgs. Rambling like a crazy woman, sorry.

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 19:09:04

Oo er, proper die hards? Think I'd be a bit intimidated! Maybe I could lurk...

Bajas Mon 01-Apr-13 19:15:51

So excited. Wondering how they'll change Robb's storyline to incorporate Talisa. RW will be so sad but can't imagine it could be as shocking as the first time you read it. Love Tyrion and his storyline in book 3.

LaQueen Mon 01-Apr-13 19:24:14

Can some PM and tell me what RW stands for?

I've read all the books, watched the first series, but can't think what it is???

Frettchen Mon 01-Apr-13 19:36:26

Too exciting! I've just started aDwD, and can't wait to watch the RW, although am sort of dreading it at the same time. Shall have to get my ogling of a certain young man done before then sad

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 19:50:39

I've sent you a PM LaQueen, it's not spoilery just gives the reference you need should you want to goggle. I also accidentally reported myself. hmm

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 19:51:12

Holy crap, think I know what RW is...shock

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 19:54:56

ghost alert...what like a bat signal?
It does remind me of reading the first books on the trains and getting the nod from fellow passengers as they wiped their book out too. Now I read on my iPad there is no nodding.

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 19:55:29

ghost what tipped you off?

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 20:00:47

I love a bit of knowing nod geekery!

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 20:02:09

...wiki fecking pedia. Stupid curiosity!

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 20:04:33

ghost sad I did the exactly the same thing just before I read it wiki'd one of the Freys. I was soooo angry with myself.

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 20:09:45

Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 20:11:27

There's an error on my SKYGo. I might DIE!

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 20:15:58

Wiki is great but I really shouldn't have with this show.
Promises to be a really good season though, eh?

Let's make a pact. No more wiki, only Google image searches for foxy cast members.

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 20:16:04

Ok, ok, it's back

<wipes brow>

<arranges chocolates>

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 20:18:57

I am reading DWD ATM I do have to keep wiki-ing cause I'm losing interest with Dany, I can't keep track of all the exotic types trying to woo her.

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 20:23:36

Works for me!

There should be a bat-signal-alike. Maybe the stark sigil ...

I think about this far too much. I swear, all googling shall be for robb and jon with their kit off the purpose of doublechecking characters

GhostOfTheRobot Mon 01-Apr-13 20:25:50

35 mins! grin
Am going to watch at 9.15 so I can then fast forward the ads.
Am going dark, people.

WildlingPrincess Mon 01-Apr-13 20:37:52

Name-changed! I don't have Sky but will be checking in hoping people will tell me what happens grin I've read the books, but still!

Bajas Mon 01-Apr-13 20:41:59

Good plan ghost. Think I'll do the same.

infamouspoo Mon 01-Apr-13 21:02:55

I'm on the link that ts not coping must be too many watching. [deep breathing into a bag]

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 21:10:42

Urgh. Trying to hold back til 9.15 so I can whizz through the ads. Going for coffee and cake to kill time.

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 21:15:40

Marking place to read thread tomo!

Ooh it's good so far. Lovely Jon snow smile

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 21:20:11

It's working fine now. Phew.

LittleBairn Mon 01-Apr-13 21:44:31

I can't quite place the servant who accompanies Little finger, the one talking to Shay. Is she an add in?

OestraJen Mon 01-Apr-13 21:46:12

I thought she was jeyne Poole?

antlerqueen Mon 01-Apr-13 21:51:25

Ros the prostitute?

VivaLeBeaver Mon 01-Apr-13 21:53:06

Is she the madam from his whore house?

abbyfromoz Mon 01-Apr-13 22:09:24

Noooo! Have to wait a whole week!!! Boo!

antlerqueen Mon 01-Apr-13 22:10:07

Babydragons are huge already!

QueenofWhispers Mon 01-Apr-13 22:12:30

is Ros also Alayaya from the books?

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 22:12:36

She's Ros but she's not in the book IIRC.

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:13:03

Oh I can't wait to see theon. I really hoped he'd be in this episode, the books haunted me with what happens to him.

Good episode though!

Cooroo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:14:46

A great start. My god Stannis is a miserable bastard. His most loyal supporter back from the dead and he can't even crack a smile before throwing him in prison.

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 22:15:23

Alayaya is missing. I think Ros is just there so Littlefinger has someone to talk to about stuff.

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 22:18:40

I'm going to have to watch Theon through my fingers.

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 22:19:28

The Fan show is very depressing. FFS this is for idiots.

Bajas Mon 01-Apr-13 22:19:57

Stannis is harsh all right.

Poor Tyrion- thought the scene between him and Tywin was done so well. Very moving.

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:22:33

Fan show is annoying. Dp has just groaned that "you know nothing Jon snow" is a luvvy.

Have you noticed that Alfie Allen has lost weight? Wonder why wink

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 22:23:24

Yes, ros was creaed by the writers to replace Alaya and link the characters a bit.

Well? They acknowledged ser barristen early, and I didn't get the harrenhal scene. But a good start. Loved tywin and tyrion. Two great actors in a great scene. Tywin didn't say the line about some battles being won with swords (and also, that was it, wasn't it?) I liked mance and jon.

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 22:26:52

Yy to stannis being a miserable twonk. I liked marjory more than before, and loved cersei's jealousy.

Dh wouldn't let me me watch the fan show, I find them a bit annoying tbh. Ygritte sounds odd with her real accent.

And AA has lost weight? Has he been exercising, d'ya think? He must reek? wink

Bajas Mon 01-Apr-13 22:28:17

Yes fan show truly dreadful. The presenter seemed to know nothing. He even called Dany khaleesi as if it was her name. Pathetic.

ValarMorGoolis Mon 01-Apr-13 22:29:13

Was Harrenhal just so Rob turned against Catelyn?

The Arstan deception bit was unnecessary I reckon.

I learned last series not to want it to be too close though.

Cooroo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:30:29

Yes poor Tyrion - such a raw plea for some acknowledgement for what he'd done, and in return the most vicious and unfatherly tirade ever. Great performances.

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:32:09

Ha! Unsullied grin (can't think of a good comeback, am feeling a bit meek)

I really liked tywin in his scenes with arya, not so much tonight.

Ygritte, that's her name, I forgot blush

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 22:33:18

I LOVE Charles Dance anyway, my heart broke for poor Tyrion though.

Is anyone else struggling to warm to Shae, knowing what she does?

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 22:35:33

I Love, grin
I loved Tywin with Arya too, DH and I were discussing whether he knew who she was. He definitely suspected she was someone. I preferred her serving Tywin than the Mountain.

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:40:41

I felt like he knew who arya was, but wouldn't be able to kill her so enjoyed we company iykwim.

I liked shae but I read the books after watching series 2, I got impatient and couldn't wait for this new series! So I really liked her until I found out what happened. I think she's played really well too by the actress.

From my geeky Internet research, Brienne used to be a gymnast and was put forward for the part before the tv series was planned, by GoT nerds who had read about the part smile

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 22:41:13

HER company not we hmm

QueenofWhispers Mon 01-Apr-13 22:43:40

I hate Shae, I really like Ros though. Tyrion is my favorite though. I wish he'd ask me out on a date or something.

expatinscotland Mon 01-Apr-13 22:47:24

Ros was Chelya in the books, IIRC, mother to Alayaya and madame of the brothe.

Jeyne Poole disappears until later in the books, and the only reference to where she's been is that she had been trained to please men.

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 22:48:03

Ilove, me too. just a feeling.
wrt Brienne, she plays her so well, it must be quite a difficult role.

I like Ros too, I want to shake Sansa and tell her not to trust LittleFinger.

I got really excited when we saw the Giant. and Tormund. Am now sulking at having to wait a week again.

UnsulliedTrampyPants Mon 01-Apr-13 22:49:32

Expat, that was it! I couldn't remember the name of the other girl. She's a sort of amalgamation isn't she?

ILovePonyo Mon 01-Apr-13 23:01:16

Expat I'd forgotten all that, am going to have to read over books to refresh my memory.

Unsullied the giant was so good! Got very excited at that bit.

Am I right in thinking a lot of cgi budget was used up in the last series hence lack of dire wolves?

MrsJaqenHgar Mon 01-Apr-13 23:09:27

Last deason's CGI budget was mostly spent on the battle of Blackwater Bay episode. All that wildfire didn't come cheap.

I'd almost forgotten how much I love Bronn. Never fails to surprise me as Robson and Jerome made me want to flay myself alive but Jerome Flynn absolutely kills it as Bronn. Love his exchanges with Tyrion.

Charles Dance is an incredible actor. He is truly terrifying and contemptible as Tywin. Poor Tyrion... That scene was heartbreaking.

cookielove Mon 01-Apr-13 23:14:18

I LOVED IT smile

People are talking about Reek, did i look away from the telly, cause i really did not see him??

AmazingDisgrace Mon 01-Apr-13 23:28:27

I cannot bear Shae knowing what she does (read all the books) However I read them all about 2yrs ago and have forgotten lots (/other than the very very important thing)

QueenofWhispers Mon 01-Apr-13 23:28:47

would it be wrong to rewatch the episode?

dothraki Tue 02-Apr-13 00:29:54

as long as I don't have to watch the bit on the boat - it made me feel rather queasy smile

MrsJaqenHgar Tue 02-Apr-13 07:57:00

Like a true Dorhraki grin

ValarMorGoolis Tue 02-Apr-13 08:20:48

grin Dothraki

Arya served Roose Bolton in the books, didn't she? His character seems similar to Tywin so I liked that adjustment, simplified things a bit. I like Tywin, he's fantastic.

Did I imagine it or did the half-dead Northman at Harrenhal say he was Qyburn? I can't remember how he gets introduced in the books.

There was no Ramsay/ Reek, only a mention last series that Roose was sending him to capture Theon. I must have missed it if he turned up this episode!

The Reek function was filled by the Ironman whose name I didn't catch for all of season 2. The one with the spear.

GhostOfTheRobot Tue 02-Apr-13 08:30:07

Oooo, was so good!
Dragons (love that they sear their fish before eating), Giants (so cool) & freaky, demon-child assassin!

What was the scary little girl? Can any of you tell me?
Poor Jon Snow. He's always 'Ned Stark's Bastard' before he's even opened his mouth. He's due great things, I reckon. (not read the books)

I've really missed Tyrion. Peter Dinklage is awesome. The casting is so good on this.
Love Cersei's snipey comments about Margery's dress!

I have never seen this, you are all making it sound fab! When GoTs started, DH's friend put me off because he said 'oh, there's loads of tits in it, it's great'. So it put me off and I didn't even try series 1.

GhostOfTheRobot Tue 02-Apr-13 09:07:41

Little, there is nudity but it's no Spartacus!
Try it! You won't be disappointed!

I might rent this from Lovefilm and catch up because it sounds brill. smile

GhostOfTheRobot Tue 02-Apr-13 09:18:59

It's brutal. Makes Lord of the rings look like Peppa Pig in comparison but once you get into it there's no going back!
Happy viewing!

ATJabberwocky Tue 02-Apr-13 09:24:37

I've just finished watching the new episode, loved it!

I haven't read the books, but I get the feeling this series is going to feature Valoraes and her dragons more.

grin at makes LoTR look like Peppa Pig!

GhostOfTheRobot Tue 02-Apr-13 09:44:06

Well, I over simplified somewhat!
I love Lotr but you kind of know "everything's going to work out in the end" with GOT anything can happen!

TheRivieraKid Tue 02-Apr-13 09:55:45

I havn't read the books beyond the 2nd one yet - but I got the impression that Tyrion won't forget that conversation with his father. If only he wasn't a Lannister...

Love Bronn, he's so awesome. And I get more and more worried about Sansa, I actually quite like her and I think she might get a sticky end, Littlefinger is dangerous.

Speaking of dangerous, would love to see more of Melisandre. When even Varys the spider is scared of you, you must be bad grin

ValarMorGoolis Tue 02-Apr-13 10:30:46

That's definitely the case in GoT; every other story you know the goodies will win. In this one you have no clue what will happen!

UnsulliedTrampyPants Tue 02-Apr-13 17:21:51

aye, you never know quite what's going to happen, do you?

I loved it! The little girl was sent by the warlocks - there is a little girl who is actually 35 in braavos, was it the warlocks who made her stunted?

TrampyPants Tue 02-Apr-13 18:09:21

ooh, I'd forgotten about her! isnt the Braavos girl younger because she wears that face?

I thought something had happened to her to make her stop growing, she was sold to someone? Might not have been the warlocks but it rings a bell.

Bajas Tue 02-Apr-13 18:26:42

Is it the same girl who Arya met in later books then? Never thought of that!

TrampyPants Tue 02-Apr-13 18:28:05

no, its a different girl

OzmaofOz Tue 02-Apr-13 18:30:20

I still haven't seen it, just waiting for DP to get home. I can't believe I am this excited about it.

TrampyPants Tue 02-Apr-13 18:31:54

I've just had a look and she is shrunken and "young" due to exposure to poisons and potions.

expatinscotland Tue 02-Apr-13 18:49:47

'Arya served Roose Bolton in the books, didn't she?'

Yes, as 'Nan'. He gives her a new name and doesn't recognise her.

In The House of Black and White, she meets a so-called girl known only as 'the waif'. When the waif was a youngish girl, her mother died and her father remarried. All was well, until the stepmother had a child of her own. Braavos is apparently like Dorne in that it is the firstborn who inherits no matter what his/her gender. So this woman sought to kill the waif. She, and 2/3 of her father's fortune, were given to The House of Black and White in exchange for her stepmother's being given the gift and she is in fact in her 30s, her age stunted by her own poisoning and then working with them.

expatinscotland Tue 02-Apr-13 18:51:04

Arya can see through the eyes of other animals besides a wolf, but she does not tell the kindly man this.

TrampyPants Tue 02-Apr-13 18:52:05

<bows to Expat> I'm impressed!!

expatinscotland Tue 02-Apr-13 18:55:15

The waif tells her about it whilst they were playing the lying game. 'One truth, one lie, one exaggeration.'

expatinscotland Tue 02-Apr-13 18:56:31

I think we'll see a wiser Sansa in the last book wink, assuming he doesn't kill her off after she's raped in his usual fashion shock.

LittleBairn Tue 02-Apr-13 18:57:55

Expat your like MNs very own GOT/ASOIAF safe wiki that we can read without fear of huge spoilers. grin

expatinscotland Tue 02-Apr-13 18:59:04

I've read the books several times blush.

Valor you mentioned that you don't know if the good will win. But really don't know which good will win. Jon, stannis, dothraki e.t.c there is so many that may win! !

expatinscotland Tue 02-Apr-13 22:51:55

Or which bad: Littlefinger, Euron Greyjoy, Ramsay Bolton, the Second Sons taking Pentos, The Others . . . hence, Game of Thrones wink

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 00:49:13

Checking in grin

Only watched the opener tonight as we were on bastard holiday yesterday.

I thought it was pretty good but am realising that the stories I care about most are Tyrion and Arya's - and I really missed Arya in that ep.

I didn't see Reek either? I loved Stannis being so arsey and ungracious, it's what he does best. (I have a little bit of a pedant crush on Stannis since the 'fewer, not less' moment grin)

And I also love the way they are building Margaery up into such a player. Bring on the Queen of Thorns!

It can't be that long till Joffrey's wedding, can it? <excited>. He is becoming even more toadying and psychotic, I'm loving that performance.

I'm just loving it all, to be honest.

GhostOfTheRobot Wed 03-Apr-13 11:29:01

Mrs J, that was so funny! grin

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 11:51:40

Heheheheh, that is awesome!

limitedperiodonly Wed 03-Apr-13 12:29:29

I've forgotten who Margaery is. She was married to Stannis's brother who was gay and is now dead? Is that right? How did he die? What is she doing with Joffrey and his mother?

If it's not right just help me out please.

I can remember the rest of it.

limitedperiodonly Wed 03-Apr-13 12:30:42

I would check it online for myself but I'll get spoilers. Thanks

cookielove Wed 03-Apr-13 13:38:37

limited Margarery was married to Renly who was gay and in love with her brother Loras, there marriage was not consummated which is why she can marry Joffery instead as apparently its not classed as marriage until they dtd. Renly died before this happened <sob> and plus he just wasn't interested in doing it with her. The red lady that Stannis has (cannot remember her name) used a curse to kill him in front of Catelyn and Brienne, a shadow basically stabbed him IIRC as he was a threat to Stannis claim to the throne.

And i never saw it before but Stannis looked a little phoar in that episode smile

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 13:53:36

Ah, melissandre and her demon-smoke-baby.

limitedperiodonly Wed 03-Apr-13 13:55:17

Thanks. I dimly remember that now.

Another question then: have Joffrey and his mother thrown Sansa aside? (Ned and Catelyn's daughter, I think Sansa is her name?) I remember that they were waiting until Sansa's first period for her to be able to marry and Cersei discovered it even though Sansa's maid tried to cover it up.

What's planned for her? Is that why she was talking about sailing away with Littlefinger? Do Joffrey and Cersei know she's planning to go away?

Honestly, I was paying attention last series. blush

Yes, Sansa is now basically a hostage. Cersei has a plan for her but that would be a spoiler!

limitedperiodonly Wed 03-Apr-13 14:02:33

Thanks again. I now think I know what's going on - until the next timegrin It's good not to post spoilers.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 14:03:48

Loved all the books, anyone got any ideas about who Jon Snows' mother may be?

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:05:08

In the books, Renly is not gay. He's showy and flashy, but the way everyone shags about it in the books and there are more than a few 'boy whore' references, if he were gay I don't think the author was have hesitated to throw that in there. Nor is there anything going on between Margery and her brother Loras.

The plans for Sansa were not Cersei's, Lord Tywin came up with the idea, and, in typical fashion, bullies the parties into it.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:07:48

'anyone got any ideas about who Jon Snows' mother may be?'

His mother is Wylla and Dornish. There is speculation Ned may have also fathered a child to the Lady Ashara Dayne, the sister of the famous knight Ned killed, but it's never confirmed. Ashara's daughter was born still and she committed suicide by throwing herself over a cliff, but Ned speaks John's mother's name in the first book and Arya meets John's milk brother is passing later on.

I think Jon Snow is the offspring of ned's sister and rhaegar targaryan. They eloped or ran off together I think. I reckon ned took him in to protect him from Robert or the lannisters who would have killed him as a targaryan threat.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:10:38

Ashara also comes up in the first book because Catelyn heard maidservants talking about her, how she was John's mother, but Ned himself confirms to Robert that his mother is Wylla, whom he met on a ship somewhere in the south. Barristan Selmy also ruminates about Ashara.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:17:23

'I think Jon Snow is the offspring of ned's sister and rhaegar targaryan.'

There's a very good reason why that's not true. Anyone want a spoiler who hasn't read the books?!

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 14:21:05

Thank you expat, I can't remember that, has been ages since I read the books though, was hoping it may be significant later on. Has anyone thought about how it may all end eventually?

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 14:23:42

The rhaegar/lyanna rumours have never been disproved. Ned was v evasive about jons mum, and I don't think that ned would have fathered a bastard. Plus dany's and arya's visions all point to that. Plus there's ned's promise.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 14:24:42

Barristen was in love with ashara.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:24:55

Although, thinking about it, it might be true . . . but without spoiling, it's hard to say more grin.

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 14:25:05

I have also heard these rumours about Jon's parentage and I think the debate is still open. Ned may have said it was Wylla, but that doesn't make it true grin. And I reckon Arya meeting the 'milk brother' is also a bit of a red herring.

I would love to have your reasons, expat grin. I have done a lot far too much of geek reading of the theories, but they just make my head spin. Isn't there supposed to be a lot of significance to Lyanna's death, possibly in childbirth?

Oh god, I've been sucked in again. shock

Beer, a proper crush on Stannis? Hmmmm ... <ponders>

Anyone think Stannis's wife is going to have a more prominent role this series, given that she's being played by Tara Fitzgerald? She barely features in the books.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:27:43

True enough, Trampy, and there's plenty of reference to Lyanna's death in 'a bed of blood', but then again, there's that other male later on in the picture about the same age . . . grin

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:31:25

'And I reckon Arya meeting the 'milk brother' is also a bit of a red herring.'

Not necessarily because the person she hears it from met her by coincidence. BUT, the fact that Wylla was a wet nurse is something. Also that when Ned brought Jon to Winterfell he brought a wet nurse along for him, too. It would make sense that he was Lyanna's and Rhaegar's, but then Rhaeagar was not married to Lyanna. And then, well grin, there's that other male . . .

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 14:32:38

All that bed of blood stuff plus dany sees a blue rose in the wall. Rhaegar gave lyanna a crown of blue roses and they were her favourite flowers. Plus, she wasn't as in love with robert as he with her and everyone who met rhaegar insists that he wasn't the type to steal her etc.
And the dragon needs three heads...
<Far too involved>

I was pissed that they left the visions out.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:35:44

It would still make Jon a bastard, though, v. that Rhaegar fathered (I say no more grin) a trueborn son by Elia.

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 14:36:36

I am totally confused now grin

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 14:39:34

Is the bastard bit significant, then? Damn, I have obviously missed loads of clues. I am pretty sure I know who you're hinting at, expat, but I think I have too many gaps to fill in. <head desk> should be cleaning

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 14:40:34

Oh yes, I have no doubt that he is a bastard, but I'm sure that the other fella won't last. The dragons'll get him.

Jon is going to be crucial against the others. And I think that's because of his blood. Someone with both thge blood of the first men and the targaryans will bw pretty damn special. The three dragons riders will be tyrion or bran, jon and dany, imo.

There's a site somewhere that lists all the possibilities.

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 14:44:11

Sorry everyone, I get very involved.

Who else cringed at qyburn and hoped that talisa would just leave him there? wink

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:44:55

Okay, then, SPOILER ALERT!!!

ALL THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS STOP READING NOW!!!

STOP READING NOW!!

In the books, Rhaegar had a trueborn daughter, Rhaenys, and a son, Aegon, by his wife Elia of Dorne, both of whom were supposedly killed by Gregor Clegane.

BUT

Varys substituted the baby boy for the baby of an alcoholic tanner who traded his own son for a skin of Arbor gold wine.

The boy is brought up by the exiled lord Jon Connington and a small assortment of people.

He becomes a man and at the end of the books, is back on the way to claiming his birthright because the timing of his birth trumps Danaerhys' claim since she was born after him and he is the oldest surviving Targaryen.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:47:41

Varys says something telling, though, that he is one who seeks to rule because he feels it is his duty, not his right.

And he starts to act the part, IYKWIM.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 14:51:33

He's on his way to dany isn't he? I can't see someone introduced so late taking the throne. Esp since we have invested so much into dany. I think he will go the same way as (was it?) Quentyn.

Ooh expat that's interesting! I haven't read that far yet but it's not a huge spoiler. I reckon Jon and daenarys might get it on later which could kibosh the rhaegar/lyanna theory but then the targaryans are down with Inter familial shagging!

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 14:56:53

'He's on his way to dany isn't he?'

Oh, no, Trampy. He's on his way to King's Landing. And he's no Quentyn.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 14:57:08

I don't think Ned fathered a bastard, expat, wouldn't the 3 targaryen children sit on the 3 dragons, dany, aegon and Jon?

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:01:44

Ah, yes 3 targaryans would make more sense. I just can't see aegon pushing dany aside. She won't stand for it. Plus, we've invested too much in her.

I've just had another thought but its an enormous spoiler

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:01:49

Connington tells him to wait for his aunt, he doesn't see the point, he is the rightful king and he has the Golden Company. Conningston has the grey death, though.

Something else that might factor in is something Val points out about Stannis's daughter Shireen.

Shireen, of course, had the grey death/greyscale, as a baby. Jon tells her it is not always mortal in children, but Val points out that it is known to be a latent illness, apparently.

I think Penny is going to give the pale mare to the Second Sons and this is how Tyrion will either get himself sprung and get out of the notes he signed to them or die.

He also promised The Eyrie, which means he must know a means to secure it and it would tie in with his other . . . commitment grin.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:03:51

'I just can't see aegon pushing dany aside.'

He doesn't. He just says he's going ahead to King's Landing, especially because no one knows where Dany is at the time and it appears she might have her own khal again.

The other issue is that Victarion has the fecking dragon horn and Rhaegal and Viserion are at large.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:07:11

And Jon has to live to rule grin. He also has, in addition to several daggers in his back - literally, a rather large problem with another bastard wink.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:08:42

I mean to take the iron throne. I believe that the end will see dany as queen of the 7 kingdoms. We have invested so much and she is the mother of the dragons. I can't see aegon as taking over from her.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 15:10:50

I'm going to have to re-read the last 2 books, have forgotten so much. I would love dany to find some family as it's fortold that she won't have children of her own.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:11:53

Surely now jon is released from his vows too grin so free to hook up, or at the very least, fight with dany.

I need the new book!!!

<Shakes fist>

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 15:14:55

I would love her to be queen eventually trampy pants but I think she may have help from the other 2. I think the dragons may be the only way of stopping the white walkers!

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:15:40

'I believe that the end will see dany as queen of the 7 kingdoms. We have invested so much and she is the mother of the dragons. I can't see aegon as taking over from her.'

Martin has a habit of killing off people he gets his readers very invested in, though grin. Or twisting things. And Targaryens marry one another. The other problem is that she is unable to bear living heirs - unless there's some way for Khal Drogo to come alive again.

The prophecy is for a beautiful young woman to replace Cersei, but it's hard to know which one it is because there are several candidates.

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 15:15:48

I cringed at Qyburn grin.

Please, please, please can someone explain to me the significance of Jon being a bastard? And why is the greyscale important?

Fuck, I galloped through the last book. I have obviously missed some important bits blush

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:15:54

I think sansa will end up finishing cersei.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:16:27

It appears Jon might be released from his vows, yes, to walk off with The Stranger grin.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:17:27

Maybe sansa marries aegon and dany decides that she doesn't want to be queen. After all, she has magic.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:18:06

Well, it appears Sansa is starting to wise up about a certain Lannister wink, who would appear to be planning a visit to The Eyrie wink.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:19:58

He'll be back! wink

I understand all the other "shock" killings. They all had to happen for the progression of the book. Dany is too central, imo.

Shall we start a thread in fiction, I'm worried about spoiling it for others who are watching.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 15:24:22

I think Bran will be very significant too, would his gift extend to dragons?

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:24:31

'Please, please, please can someone explain to me the significance of Jon being a bastard? And why is the greyscale important?'

Well, a bastard has to be legitimised by royal decree in order to inherit.

Greyscale may or may not be important because if it's latent then Shireen is as unclean as Val makes her out to be and can pass it along.

And let's not forget, Euron and Victarion Greyjoy are floating about, the latter has the dragon horn and a red priest who taught him how to use it. Their sister is also still alive at last count, as well as Alysane Mormont.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 15:25:01

Sorry, Asha Greyjoy is their niece.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:25:24

Cee, as a bastard jon can't inherit anything. Stannis offers to legitimize him so he can take winterfell. The greyscale is lethal and contagious, so jon c and shireen are on borrowed time.

I'm so glad that patches isn't in the series. He scares the beejesus out of me. I can handle heads being lopped off, etc, but patchwork jokers? No ta!

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:28:16

Peachy, possibly. He and rickon both have dragonglass arrows, and bran's obsession with archery will be significant imo. So I'm sure he will fight the Others.

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:29:08

Ps, sorry for erraticness. Am on twatphone and a bit stiff.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 15:29:35

Jon could be legitamised depending on whose on the throne and if grey scale is contagious anyone who came into contact with her could have it, the possibilities are endless

heirtotheironthrone Wed 03-Apr-13 15:30:00

I have spent all afternoon reading this and wiki-ing plotlines thanks to you lot smile I am only just starting the second book, but love a spoiler, so that's all good. Also have an unhealthy crush on both Robb and Jon, and also Charles Dance...

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 15:32:25

Trampy, I think Bran will be able to control the dragons through his ability to put his mind into animals and he wouldn't let anything bad happen to Jon if he could do something about it.

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 15:35:14

Me too, heirto - btw you need some capitals in your name, it took me ages to work out wink

I am being naive? I don't give a shit about Shireen's greyscale. It's Tyrion I'm worried about.

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 15:36:22

I proper hate the Greyjoys.

Vocalista86 Wed 03-Apr-13 15:37:03

OMG did I actually miss the start of the series?! How did this happen. I must try and watch it immediately! Kalesi is my favourite. Though I can't spell her name.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 15:45:52

Vocalist, you haven't missed anything, just guessing really
I have thought about this story way too much smile

HeirToTheIronThrone Wed 03-Apr-13 15:49:25

Happy to oblige TheCeej grin

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 15:54:28

No one likes a Greyjoy grin

I quite like asha though.

TheCeejOfWinterfell Wed 03-Apr-13 16:02:54

Heir grin

Beer - you think you can change Stannis, don't you? He just hasn't met you yet ... [knows]

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 16:06:01

Asha Greyjoy's alright wink.

cookielove Wed 03-Apr-13 17:14:36

Wow this thread has really moved on!! Took me ages to read all that smile

OzmaofOz Wed 03-Apr-13 19:34:42

I also think Jon is R and L son. It's the promise me Ned bit when he is talking to Robert about Jon that clinches it for me. Although like someone else said knowing GRRM they may have had a child and it will be Sam or Hordor or maybe even Dany shock
It was interesting to see how they brought Selmy in, I was wondering if they would try and disguise him for a bit.

MrsJaqenHgar Wed 03-Apr-13 20:24:19

Good news...season 4 is confirmed smile

Even better news...filming in NI again smile

antlerqueen Wed 03-Apr-13 21:05:04

Expat, Jon doesn't necessarily have to be a bastard if his parents were Rhaegar and Lyanna, because apparently Targaryens were not averse to polygamy so they might have gotten married sometime at that point.

Bajas Wed 03-Apr-13 21:13:02

Loving all the speculation! I'd hate to see Dany end up with the throne! She started out so well but becomes more annoying as the books go on. Would much prefer to see Jon but don't know if that's possible.

Would love to see Sansa getting the better of Cersei and appreciating her husband for his real character. So hard to say all without giving a million spoilers

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 21:16:45

Bajas, there are two times in the books where Sansa mentally refers to preferring to be with her husband than, well, the older one and the young one, IYKWIM!

I think Daenarys gets better as the books go on!

Bajas Wed 03-Apr-13 21:23:11

expat I don't remember that part but am glad to hear it. I reckon the older and younger one would be hard going for anyone!

I must read the last 2 again to get everything clear in my head. Is there any word on the next book release that anyone knows of? I'm sure it can't take as long with the time pressure of the tv series now.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 21:26:39

He only finished the last one in 2011 and it was lloooongg. He said it was hard to write, too.

ygritte Wed 03-Apr-13 21:38:10

Expat...are you insinuating that the other male is Robert Baratheon? Therefore Jon Snow could be???
I thought the crown was not a real crown but a metaphor, hopelessly confused. How did she die?

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 22:15:18

I would love Jon Snow to be king, the more I think about it the more I am convinced Ned wasn't capable of having a bastard but the stark looks in Jon point to him being Ned's nephrew. His father must have been pretty important to make up such a lie to keep him safe ;)

And what ever became of Uncle Benjen, who was never seen again after going beyond the wall? I think I have a pretty good idea but am probably way off

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 22:16:04

Which other male? If it's around Sansa, then no.

How did who die? Lyanna? You never really know.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 22:17:40

She had a fever, the room smelled of blood and roses and she was 'in a bed of blood'.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 22:18:29

Uncle Benjen is still missing.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 22:22:15

I thought he was expat but I think it's significant and there are some clues

OzmaofOz Wed 03-Apr-13 22:27:46

I think we will meet Uncle Benjen in TWOW, GRRM has said we are going further North than before so maybe in the land of always winter.
Seeing as we are doing conspiracy theories, does anyone think Syrio could have been Jaquen ?

OzmaofOz Wed 03-Apr-13 22:28:26

Sorry Jaqen

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 22:30:28

Who was Jaquen in King's Landing to kill? Hmm, could be he was Syrio but he was there a long enough time training Arya. It's possible, though. How did he wind up in the dungeons with Rorge and Biter, though? Yoren seemed to know he was a Faceless Man, and so did Rorge and Biter.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 22:34:00

The fee for getting the Faceless Men to assassinate someone varies, and Littlefinger mentions that to hire one to kill Dany Targaryen would be more than even the Lannisters can afford. But obviously he was there for a job.

OzmaofOz Wed 03-Apr-13 22:36:14

Yes it would be interesting to find out more about him.
We are never told if Syrio is actually killed, was it Janos that went in to capture Arya ? I wonder if he escaped and got bundled in to the dungeons then changed his face. He uses a lot of the same phrases Syrio used when they are in Harrenhall. It could just be me over thinking things or a red herring, but I would like for him to be alive.

OzmaofOz Wed 03-Apr-13 22:36:50

A yes, I had forgotten about that.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 22:39:55

Jagen is a faceless man so could have changed into other people including Syrio, what was he doing to end up a prisoner? It is a bit suspicious Oz

TrampyPants Wed 03-Apr-13 22:46:59

I think J was Syrio too, tbh. He certainly has a link to Arya. I think that BenJen is coldhands, the blood of the first men means that he isnt a proper white walker. He wears the black too, iirc.

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 23:04:24

It's certainly possible because Jaquen was in King's Landing for one reason or another.

I think that, too, about Syrio/Jaqen and BenJen/Coldhands

expatinscotland Wed 03-Apr-13 23:12:51

The Onion Knight also knows that Rickon is still alive and travelling with what we know to be Osha.

peachyglow Wed 03-Apr-13 23:19:50

I think Benjen is coldhands too hmm

Gingerdodger Thu 04-Apr-13 06:40:27

I never thought of J being Syrio. I wonder how many of these things will be resolved or just left to the reader's imagination. I feel like I could just constantly be rereading the books and still never work some of it out. I have just discovered who Reek is!

I think the series was right to reveal Ser Barristan early on because TV can't just drop little clues along the way and then have a big reveal like the books can.

OzmaofOz Thu 04-Apr-13 12:03:02

Yes I think Ben could well be cold hands, the cof said he had been dead for a long time though - how long has he been missing for ?
Yes I couldn't see another way they could have done the Selmy introduction, shame though because my jaw dropped when I found out it was him. Where was Ben ? Hope he is in it.

EmmaGellerGreen Thu 04-Apr-13 22:15:46

I feel like a trespassers here. On behalf of my DH who is a huge GoT fan, is there a site where this series can be downloaded as we don't have SKY Atlantic.

Trills Thu 04-Apr-13 22:50:07

I've read on the internet that some speculate that Mad King Aerys was in love with Mrs Lannister (Joanna, I think) and is Tyrion's real father. I think that's a bit silly though.

Very much enjoyed Margaery doing her "Come to me, directly to me", because she wants to be the Queen.

Joffrey is clearly very impressed with his new betrothed - Cersei not happy about this.

Trills Thu 04-Apr-13 22:57:19

expat the timing of baby Aegon's birth relative to Dany's is irrelevant, it's about being the son of the firstborn son of the king rather than being a subsequent child of the king. Prince Andrew is older than Prince William but William is next in line to the throne after Charles.

There was no way that the series could have the Arstan/Fat Belwas subplot with Barristan the Bold because we'd recognise him, so it made sense to cut that.

Trills Thu 04-Apr-13 23:00:55

(but in general that was some very good explaining!)

expatinscotland Thu 04-Apr-13 23:57:46

'expat the timing of baby Aegon's birth relative to Dany's is irrelevant, it's about being the son of the firstborn son of the king rather than being a subsequent child of the king. Prince Andrew is older than Prince William but William is next in line to the throne after Charles.'

I was referring to something else and two males, but not wanting to give out too many spoilers to those who hadn't read the books. I'm perfectly aware of how primogeniture works, thanks, although as pointed out it does not apply in Dorne, where Ariane is heiress rather than Trystane.

Aegeon is older than Dany, of course, but he is the son of who he is and that's what counts. No telling about Jon, it's entirely possible he is Rhaegar's and Lyanna's and that she was second wife to him in Targaryen fashion, hence the whole Tower of Joy, 'Promise me, Ned!', her bed of blood and that she was heard screaming as Ned and his 6 men approached Ser Dayne and his two companions.

A possible problem might be that people don't believe it is really Aegeon, especially because Varys was the one who orchestrated the escape and many don't trust him, despite the earnestness of Connington, who may be dead soon enough, or the other witnesses.

If you believe the Maegi then all Cersei's offspring are toast even if the latter doesn't succeed in killing off Robert's remaining bastards (Ned unwittingly gives away the most current whereabouts of nearly all of them to her in the first book, resulting in the death of baby Barra) in time before her badly kept secret is revealed.

'Yes I think Ben could well be cold hands, the cof said he had been dead for a long time though - how long has he been missing for ? '

He went missing quite early in the first book, days after he brings Jon to the Wall he goes out looking for Ser Royce, whom we know was killed by The Others and comes back as a wight. He's never heard from again and by the middle of the first book is presumed by many to be dead.

Stokes Fri 05-Apr-13 07:41:46

I don't think the Aegon we met in DWD is the real Aegon, I think he's the mummer's dragon from dany's vision - someone of the right colouring placed with illyrio (can't spell and too lazy to check!) by varys to be raised to think he's Aegon.

Trills Fri 05-Apr-13 09:37:44

Sorry expat - it looked as if you were saying that Aegon would have priority because he was older when you said this because the timing of his birth trumps Danaerhys' claim since she was born after him and he is the oldest surviving Targaryen.

And yes, in Dorne the eldest child inherits regardless of sex, which made things interesting when they were sending Myrcella over there. smile

With any "lost Targeryens" the trouble is that nearly all of those who would have been involved at the time are either dead or extremely untrustworthy!

If they really do have a "magical connection" to the dragons (or the immunity to fire that TV-Dany thinks she has) then it'll be easy to see if they are "true" or not, but if there is no magical dragon connection (if the old Targaryens just had knowledge of dragon-training that is now lost) then it may be impossible to ever find out.

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 10:32:39

That was before I just gave up trying to hide spoilers, Trills, as you can see, it's now a free-for-all here grin.

Could be, Stokes, but then Varys knocks off Kevan Lannister and tells him it's for the good of the realm, for the one is coming, and Varys refers to this one as 'he', who rules because he believes it to be his duty rather than his right. Although those strange children are a bit bizarre, but then, Varys has a background in grooming children for thievery.

Some things just get left to the imagination, probably. Such as who Jaquen was sent to kill, is Benjen Coldhands - only two of the men he took with him were found, as wights, so where are the rest, where is Eddric Storm, where did Littlefinger send Jeyne Poole before she was wheeled out to be the fake Arya (more than likely, a brothel), Tyrion promise the Eyrie to his first band of sellswords - does he know a way to take it, what has Lady Stoneheart been up to and how does a being such as her or Lord Beric finally die, did Sam et al make it to Oldtown and did Gilly and Mance Rayder's son get to the Tarlys. All kinds of loose ends!

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 11:45:47

And the penultimate question, will it ever be answered: Where do whores go?

Trills Fri 05-Apr-13 11:56:55

No. No I don't think so. And I don't think it would be a beautiful reunion even if we found out.

OzmaofOz Fri 05-Apr-13 12:38:45

No I don't we will find out either, I really don't want to, like expat said I doubt it will be a happy reunion.
And who is Septa Lemore ? Ashara maybe or The white fawn ?

OzmaofOz Fri 05-Apr-13 12:39:10

Like Trills said sorry

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 13:07:18

Martin doesn't do happy endings wink. I doubt we'll find out where whores go and if Tyrion will ever find Tysha. He may even contract the pale mare and die. Hopefully Euron, Victarion and Ramsay Bolton will be finished off, though.

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 13:08:31

Maybe Arya will be hired to kill off Ramsay Bolton grin.

OzmaofOz Fri 05-Apr-13 13:49:11

With a Robb Stark sends his regards wink that would be great.

TrampyPants Fri 05-Apr-13 17:44:42

I had a brief thought that tysha could be melisandre. I would love arya to off bolton though. Leechy turd that he is!

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 21:38:40

Roose doesn't seem over-enamoured of his son. Wouldn't put it past him to hire a Faceless Man of Braavos.

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 21:50:09

Of course, her kills via Jaqen in the books are Chiswick, Weese and then Jaqen himself.

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 21:55:12

She kills The Tickler herself, and goes so overboard The Hound has to pull her off. 'Where is the gold? Where are the gems? Where is Lord Berric?' It is actually Sandor Clegane, who first teaches her how to give mercy.

Syrio faced Ser Meryn at the last, not Janos Slynt.

But it's a great scene when she winds up in port for ship and gives all she has up to the Braavosi captain. He refuses her, then she pulls out the coin Jaqen gave her, which is actually very worn iron. And says the words.

He takes it and replies, 'Every man must serve' and tells her, 'Of course you shall have a cabin.'

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 21:56:19

I really need to watch the films!

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 21:58:25

She does in fact give an axe under attack, but it goes to Rorge, who breaks their chains with it.

MoominmammasHandbag Fri 05-Apr-13 22:22:02

I'm loving the theory that Tyrion is really a Targaryen. Tywin doesn't deserve to be Tyrion's father. I agree that something just does not sit true about the substituted Aegon story.
Tyrion, Jon and Dani to ride the dragons, Tyrion to save Westeros and Jon and Dani to live happily ever after.

expatinscotland Fri 05-Apr-13 22:36:34

Ok, SPOILER!

the Red priest Morro told Tyrion of his vision of Tyrion.

'Dragons old and new, and you in the middle, snarling.'

But he told him of another vision, of a one-eyed octopus, with ten arms, floating on a sea of blood.

Euron, most likely, but who knows.

Morro survives to tell Euron's brother the same, and also tell him of how the dragon horn is used. 'All Euron's gifts are poisoned,' is how Victarion, his brother, puts it.
