Oh yes, Masterchef is back!

Next tuesday.

Where is everyone?

There's normally loads of you deliberatinh, cogitating, and digesting wrong presenter with me.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 15:27:47

OOh is it.

That's good because I am currently watching old episodes of masterchef professionals and Masterchef Australia - could do with a new series of the UK one.

It was a bit nondescript though last year. We need another lunchpacket like Destiny to enter so we can all hate her.

Was Destiny teh one that had been to Foreign? So, consequently cooked stiff from Foreign? Radical, she was.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 15:32:28

Yes, the woman with the mad stary eyes who looked like she had been on speed. Liked Thai food. Authentic. Spiritual

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 15:35:15

I just like the beginning bits best where all the morons cook terrible food and get sent home.

They need Monica Galetti to come on and pull faces and terrify them all.

I love Monica.

<show off alert> DD has booked le Gavroche for 6th June for us for lunch. She emailed me earlier all excited. She has been trying to book for ages and kept missing slots - in the end they told her she needed to call at 9am to book a table 3 months hence, if you don't ring first thing you lose it. Like a doctor's appointment.

cracking !

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 06-Mar-13 17:08:01

Yay but hope it's not all mass catering in factories-much prefer the invention tests. I've been watching Masterchef South Africa and Australia and they have a much better format than ours. Hope there is a fruit loop we can all heckle wink

I haven't watched this since Dad of one Dhruv, and Children's doctor Tim.
I must start again though. I love Masterchef Australia.
We're currently watching the third series and DD has a huge crush on Hayden!

I'm well Jel at you going to Le Gavroche Getorf, I'd love to go there.

I've only been to one place with a michelin star, and only once.

Top of my current wishlist is the Hand and Flowers, not that I'll ever go there, but I can dreamgrin

LIZS Wed 06-Mar-13 17:22:25

MC New Zealand is back on Watch this week too - 7pm

AddictedtoCrunchies Wed 06-Mar-13 17:31:45

I'm going to the Hand and Flowers on 1 August. Very excited grin

Oooh, lucky you Addicted.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 18:08:52

I would love to go to the hands and flowers. That chef was so lovely on masterchef professionals.

Dd text me earlier 'we get loads of wines at le gav' which makes me think she has booked the bloody tasting menu - I wonder if she knows how much it costs.

I love masterchef australia and NZ - really good format. And the terrible theme tune and opening credits makes me roar.

41notTrendy Wed 06-Mar-13 18:09:29

I'm excited grin
Yes, I'm not so keen on the new format. And the best bits are always when they're 'back in the Masterchef kitchen'.

Pancakeflipper Wed 06-Mar-13 18:10:12

What time? Is it back at a sensible 8pm time ?

BabyRoger Wed 06-Mar-13 18:12:47

Oh great. I love MC but I do much prefer the format of the Aussie version even if it does seem to go on for eternity.

I am starting to get a wee bit sick of how tough they make the challenges - what with them having to cater for 10,000 people in a kitchen 46 miles from the venue over a boulder field.

FrankWippery Wed 06-Mar-13 18:16:36

If your going for the lunch at Gav GetOrf, you get a 1/2 bottle of wine per head. Love their lunches, they are so good and it's such an amazing place to eat. Been lucky enough to eat there a fair bit. You will love it.

Going there in June for a wine evening - done a couple before - wines from a particular Chateau, 5 courses to accompany each wine. Michel chats about what and why we have what we have and it is such a good night.

Also very excited about Masterchef returning. I'll be on your Fred's fo sho Chaos.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 18:17:10

Some of the challenges are a bit daft.

The masterchef aus challenges are really good - go on a boat and catch a fish and cook it or take a chance at what is under this cloche (alligator).

And the elimination tests.

I like it when they go in professional kitchens and bugger everything up.

FrankWippery Wed 06-Mar-13 18:19:14

That'll be you're not your.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 18:26:22

Oh that's good frank, I have just text dd and told her before I read that that she better have 300 quid to spare as think its tasting menu. Ha!

Wine evening sounds lovelt. And half bottle of wine each is grand esp as dd doesn't like wine (more for mummy).

How are you btw? Is everything going well?

"And the terrible theme tune and opening credits makes me roar."
Us too, it's hilarious, we sing along in bad voices.

Just put MC NZ on series link, I wonder how many times they'll make fush and chupsgrin

FrankWippery Wed 06-Mar-13 18:32:51

Haha! That'll freak her out!

We're plodding along. I'm good, just check ups now for a couple of years. Ongoing shite for DD3 though, but we're getting there and she's being so good every time we in to hospital for one prod, probe or other such investigating stuff.

GetOrf Wed 06-Mar-13 18:39:07

I am so pleased that you're getting there health wise, how awful though for your dd. You must be exausted with it all.

Netto I was just going to post about my and dd's love for the grumpy bespectacled judge on masterchef NZ and fush and chups. Fabulous accent. (Fubulous uccent)

We sing alonga theme tune as well, and toss our hair in manner of groovy contestants.

We are very, very tragic individuals.

Bloody hell though I never posted those books to you - I was going to but then thought I saw you posting about moving and then forgot - I am so sorry, how slack I am. I still have them on a shelf waiting if you would like them blush

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 06-Mar-13 20:13:57

We sing along too - I do a Neighbours / Masterchef mashup and Dd loves it! It's vair hilair chez Munchkins wink

WireCatWhore Wed 06-Mar-13 20:18:06

In this new series, they have to make a dish just from tasting it. Or something.i think I read it in the daily hate mail so it must be true. hmm

MsNobodyAgain Thu 07-Mar-13 05:57:00

pancake it is on at 9pm next Tuesday, BBC1.

Thanks for the heads up chaos. I love MC.

Pancakeflipper Thu 07-Mar-13 07:35:00

Yippee, it's at a sensible time.

Yay a Masterchef thread! Very excited about this. I need to get out more.... blush

Hurrah, the annual Masterchef thread. Also hoping for Destineeeiiiy type person, and bowls of offal to retch at. Last years was poor.

Must say I love watching and posting, makes the whole thing so much more interesting.

whoopwhoopbib Sat 09-Mar-13 21:26:40

NettoSuperstar children's doctor Tim makes lovely macaroons!! I currently have some in my fridge grin

DuffyMoon Sat 09-Mar-13 21:42:01

Signing in...hopefully show a lot more of the first stage rounds where they make pilchards in chocolate or bananas in gravy and the like

mum47 Sat 09-Mar-13 21:45:35

Yaay, my boys are v excited - they call John and Gregg "the shouty chefs".
(and also I have a massive crush on JT grin)

Even DS (5) is looking forward. I am considering my nibbles, something spohisticated skips and gin it is then

I have to record it so DS1 (4YO) can watch it with me the following day. I think he is as excited as I am!

The clock is ticking.

Have you all got snacks lined up?

on way home from work, need to buy snacks! What would be appropriate? Something poncey obv. I pass a wanky grocer on the way. Wasabi peas and lime pickle?

Oh hooray. Am enjoying great British menu but given that I am welded to the sofa by two small babies I NEED many many tv series to stop me going insanio.

Am also recording master chef NZ. Not loving it tbh.

And <sob> I want to go to a nice restaurant - in fact I'd take Maccy D's provided I could eat with 2 hands without a baby attached to a nipple. I am surviving on food that fits in a bowl and can eaten with a fork while balanced on mt BF pillow - classy.

Hand and flowers is awesome - I stayed in one of his b&b rooms too which meant I got breakfast the next day too. Drool.

D'ya remember the mad goggly eyed yank in Destiny's year? I also went to the restaurant in NYC that he worked in - called WD50. It was IMMENSE - also had the best cocktail ever in the history of the world there which they carbonated using a massive tank of co2 right in front of your eyes. fizzy straight gin - what's not to like?!

And now I want gin...

Oh yes, gin is good snacks!

Poncey is obligatory, SITN, I have blue cheese with honey and walnuts, and a plethora of birthday chocs.

Just got to get the Chaotic4 into bed.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 20:18:12

Gets black pudding and pea purée ready...

Heh at pea puree grin

I got poncey wine which I have never heard of, no snacks tho (had to run for bus). DS is in bed. DP has football on but he has been warned that I will require the TV from 9pm. <organised>

Cheese with honey and walnuts sounds lovely -but I can't do blue cheese. Creamy cheese would work for me, perhaps with some nice hovis digestive biscuits.

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 20:44:24

Signing in. Very excited.

StuffezLaBouche Tue 12-Mar-13 20:50:34

Yippeeeee! Glass of much anticipated wine... So happy! Always feel sorry for the ones who totally cock up though. Anyone remember the chap who ballsed up a steak and cried?!

MsNobodyAgain Tue 12-Mar-13 20:57:41

I have wine, 3 kids tucked up in bed, and no snacks as I cba to go back downstairs.

This better be good.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 20:58:20

Dusts off cliche book...tougher than this...food is my life...I want this more than anything...yadda yadda

Rocking in a stocking?!?! <squeeee>

Going to get wine... countdown time...

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:01:57

Still lots of walking at the camera...

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:02:08

Kettle chips at the ready, are we playing cliche bingo wink

a large dead fish.

Greg looks a bit vindictive today.

StuffezLaBouche Tue 12-Mar-13 21:03:53

Borrrrring Rowan! (Not feeling charitable)

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:04:07

How's Greg going to ww point his mouthfuls of food?

Goat's cheese with Honey and walnuts work, fosho.

RockStock? Zat you?

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:04:41

Fish eye stock ...mmm

MsNobodyAgain Tue 12-Mar-13 21:04:47

There should be a 'crimes against fish' award. She's destroyed it!

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:04:59

Tis me indeedy.

Oh dear, fish imagination fail.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:05:25

Greg homes in on the blonde filly ...

Greg nearly orgams when someone describes a pudding

WipsGlitter Tue 12-Mar-13 21:06:10

I hate her glasses. They are wearing her. Sorry personal bugbear.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:06:26

Dale is up himself...

<<updates spreadshit.>>

StuffezLaBouche Tue 12-Mar-13 21:07:17

Urgh pear :-(

That sspun sugar is scarng her!

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:07:40

Uh oh...

bwahhahahahahha! there's always a broken tart. Always.

StuffezLaBouche Tue 12-Mar-13 21:08:05

Cringing already

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:08:05

WingDefence Tue 12-Mar-13 21:08:12

Already got the ones I like (Clare - mum of 3 - MNer?!) and the ones I don't (the Mobile & App blonde with the terrible joke glasses)...

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:08:12

It all seems to be a it disastrous.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:08:15

Greys head looks like it has lost weight

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:08:34

Oooo fish plop

less dense you mean, Duffy?

So you reckon Clare is an MNer?

I like her.

Too sweet for Greg. Fuck.

StuffezLaBouche Tue 12-Mar-13 21:10:17

Oh wow this looks gooood

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:10:18

Hmm and bonier

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:10:48

Evening all!

Found you just in time for the 'Pear Splodge' smile

She's a flavourless tart.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:12:10

Big glasses would be much prettier sans big glasses.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:12:37

But other than that, it's fine

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:12:53

Not looking good for boring legal bod

"I don't think I did myself justice."

Predictions at this stage?

I think Big Glasses will go through.

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:13:34

This is the bit I've been waiting for.

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:13:35

Hurrah! Palette test is back!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:13:56

Bleugh that sounds Grim

Don't know their names yet.

How many do we lose today?

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:14:55

Or even the palate test blush

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:15:09

I am so going to make this, sounds utterly divine.

<<does not mention wrist action>>

Not a pomegranate fan, Rocky.

HauntedArmchairOfDoom Tue 12-Mar-13 21:16:06

That creme pat sounded really fucking rude

StuffezLaBouche Tue 12-Mar-13 21:16:24

So, John can cook...
Is Greg's only role to literally smack his chops and make appreciative noises?

HauntedArmchairOfDoom Tue 12-Mar-13 21:16:43

arf @ making Greg say 'sorce' in his fearfully common accent grin

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:16:54

Nope, still grim.

Looks beautifuk

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:17:22

I love them. We had three trees in our garden in Spain and never got sick of them.

HauntedArmchairOfDoom Tue 12-Mar-13 21:17:38

Bet it's clear glass in those frames. FOOLING NO-ONE, LADY.

Yes, looks lovely.

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:19:13

Don't think I fancy it much. Sorry John.

Suspect the smiley bloke might be going home fairly soon.

Oh thats tricky, I'd so cock that up.

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:19:52

The creme pat would/should be pretty easy to suss correctly. And the raspberry/Pom sauce. But if you're not a pastry chef sort of cook you're fucked.

HauntedArmchairOfDoom Tue 12-Mar-13 21:20:09

Blimey, day 1?? That's damned tricky for 19 minutes in...

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:21:51

D'oh forgot the batter?

Oh Rowan. grin

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:22:07

Bye bye solicitor...

John did a head tilt...

It's the seeds, Rocky.

Is that red water on the plaet?

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:25:23

Gawn a bit greasy Rowan, see ya!

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:26:39

Ah, but you can make the most amazing syrup from them and turn into jellies, sauces for meat or sweet, dilute for cold drinks, endless.

So goodbye Rowan but...who else?

I need to widen my horizons - embrace the PomLurve.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:28:13

Pomegranate makes me feel sick sadly, as I like them.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:30:11

I like Emily the best so far.

Yes, I like Emily.

Ah, Clare gone.

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:32:03

Is it not a bit odd to describe someone as 'not the finished article' in Round 1?

Or is that one for my 'Masterchef Bingo' sheet?

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:32:07

That's just across the river from me, we've been for lunch there!

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:32:12

Not warmed to any of them really...

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:33:50

How, just HOW can someone who's entered Masterchef not cooked a quails egg before?

Does anyone else think calling meat Lolliposp a bit naff?

Jux Tue 12-Mar-13 21:34:39

Isn't Greg the producer?

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:35:04

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:36:09

Here we go...

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:36:39

That was to Chaos, no idea if Greg's the producer.

That's not neat cutting

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:37:59

No, I thought that too.

This restaurant looks vile to me!

That beef looks beautiful did anyone see which cut that is?

fillet on the bone i think

Jux Tue 12-Mar-13 21:39:14

Sorry! That was in answer to what his role was - just smacking his lips and saying sorce grin but I reckon he's allowed to if he is the producer. i heard it on some other programme, but can't remember which.

difficultpickle Tue 12-Mar-13 21:39:49

Which restaurant is it?

My dream job.

'Smacking lips and saying sorce' grin

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:40:37

They always seem amazed that a restaurant is busy at, you know, meal times

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:40:51

Bisjo I think it's the Riverside Brasserie in Chelsea?

grin At DuffyM

That's food cooking 101, the less pink it is, the mpre cooked.

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:41:46

Restaurant is Chelsea Brasserie. Cut of beef looks like rib eye to me.

difficultpickle Tue 12-Mar-13 21:41:49

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:42:35

Next Tuesday.

Was that tonight shock

Fuck. Is it repeated?

I wondered where you were MaryZ

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:43:47

Dammit, dammit, dammit.

Fucking football hmm

thornrose Tue 12-Mar-13 21:45:08

How can one person get a dish which consists of searing tuna and poaching a quails egg vs the much more complex dishes with multiple processes? Not fair!

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:45:52

Vile Twelve? Slightly strong disapproval I feel.

Food is great there actually and it's much better than Bluebird and 2/3 of the price.

difficultpickle Tue 12-Mar-13 21:47:20

It will be on Iplayer.

Jux Tue 12-Mar-13 21:47:34

thornrose, because she has no idea what she's doing so they gave her the easy bit.

I quite like Emily, but the other two are just, well, meh.

Ok Rock, I take that back. It was the bright orange sauce with the tuna which looked really unappetising - especially the one that someone asked for well done hmm.

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:48:25

I know bisjo thanks, but I can't get iplayer [sigh]. I know there is a way to get it here, but every time I try I bugger up the broadband and the kids get cross. I will read this thread tomorrow and catch up.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:48:29

I really want Emily's food to be good.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:48:32

Oh it just would be on our little trips to Parisian cafes wouldn't it hmm

TSSDNCOP Tue 12-Mar-13 21:48:51

I've found you!

Fuck me that's a lot of rice!

John nearly climaxed.

Oh and guinea foul and asparagus, which sounds all unseasonal to me

hahahahhaha sarcastic scraping

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:50:09

Fair enough Twelve! Anyone who asks for well done tuna (or steak/lamb/Iberian pork) needs to be shot.

At least Sarah's spot has nearly gone <helpful>

<<tuts at latecomers>>

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:50:45

Hmm scallop vomit

beanandspud Tue 12-Mar-13 21:51:13

What a waste of scallops sad

The scallop porridge looks...wrong.

Scallops with vanilla porridge, now I am allowed to say they looks vile!

TSSDNCOP Tue 12-Mar-13 21:51:37

Oil slick anyone?

difficultpickle Tue 12-Mar-13 21:51:54

Doesn't seem to be repeated (I've just checked the Radio Times). Second heat is on tomorrow.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:52:11

grin Duffy

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:52:38

That is vile. What a dreadful waste of scallops.

Fuck me John's beyond excited it's worrying.

Sorry Miss!
<shuffles past Chaos apologetically whilst getting pencil case out>

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:53:09

Smug twat

Fondant potato BINGO!!!! <waves paper in air>

Has anyone ever cooked a fondant potato properly on MC?

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:54:16

That steak looks yum <trying to catch up>. Isn't venison easy, you just grill it.

TSSDNCOP Tue 12-Mar-13 21:54:40

Is it possible this fellas a bit more pro than am?

Oh god...welling up....

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:54:44

Shame about the potato, otherwise a delicious looking plate.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:54:58

Looks like Emily and Smug Twat are doing the best so far.

BigGlasses to go

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:55:15

No chaos...dale...you are a master chef kindred spirit/ bosom friend

Ok so Big Specs is off.

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:55:44

TSSDNCOP yep, it's just crossed my mind.

Yes, TSSD. What does Dale do for a living?

Anyone catch it?

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:56:07

The scallops look like vomit. Is that Emily?

Or is she the pork chops?

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:56:32

Oh duh, it's two courses. Sorry. Ignore me.

I think that SuckingUp was presented beautifully, Duff.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:56:47

What ever he does he will be really good at it

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:57:00

Didn't say his profession Chaos

<<ignores EmZed>>

Oh I thought it was Maryzzzzz <runs>

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:57:50

<sticks tongue out at Chaos>

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:57:57

Did you like my tear shaped smear of pea purée chaos ?

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:58:03

And Stairs hmm

But BigGlasses was media and Apps.

So why npt say his?

On, my, perhaps he is a paediatrician? shock

NomNomDePlum Tue 12-Mar-13 21:58:19

ah yes, meconium and pork chops, dangerous grin

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:58:29

Righto, I'm off to bed, been a long old day. See y'all mañana.

Jux Tue 12-Mar-13 21:58:42

Oh good. (understated and controlled)

Slightly unseasoned, EmZed.

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 21:58:53

So those are Emily and Smug Twat.

Was there an earlier four tonight? And four tomorrow, I think.

MirandaWest Tue 12-Mar-13 21:58:59

I think that was a bit unfair in Sarah really

ROAR at meconium.

TSSDNCOP Tue 12-Mar-13 21:59:17

See ya Sarah, and take those Elvis Costello glasses with you grin

I might take an early dislike to ProDale.

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 21:59:29

Or a palaeontologist, consultant neurologist or proctologist?

Might all.

Earlier tmow.

DuffyMoon Tue 12-Mar-13 21:59:33

Next time looks good, see you at 8:30 tomorrow

RockStock Tue 12-Mar-13 21:59:46

Maryz. It's 8:30 tomorrow. Set your bloody reminder grin

Good greif, Tom Jones is pure white now, isn;t he?

thornrose Tue 12-Mar-13 22:00:41

"A twist of seasoning away from a masterpiece" hahahahaha!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 22:00:52

Night all.

Maryz Tue 12-Mar-13 22:01:19

Thanks Rock.

It's teenagers. They think they have rights hmm where the tv is concerned.

TSSDNCOP Tue 12-Mar-13 22:01:52

Munch or oncologist, dermatologist or urologist grin

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 12-Mar-13 22:04:17

Or anaesthetist, orthodontist or taxidermist wink

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:13:29

Gets plate of scallop vomit ready...

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:17:50

OOh, I've not been on a Masterchef fred before.
I am IN. In like gin.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:33:33

Taps watch...where is everyone ?

Hello! Jez looks so like a Jez.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 20:34:03

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:34:28

Why is one wearing a flat cap?

StuffezLaBouche Wed 13-Mar-13 20:34:32

Twenty pounds says there's a truly disastrous balls-up!

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 20:35:24

Evening All!

Wasabi peas and wine anyone?

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:35:26

Evening. Tofu, eh?

Oh god... Ingrid is the new Destiniyyy. passion

Wine! I have forgotten wine! <rushes off in a fright>

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 20:36:04

I wish I could get away with a half shaved haircut!

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:36:30

Ooooo forrin

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:37:11

Are you allowed to wear a flat cap in a kitchen other than your own?

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:37:18

Wish I could get away with a shaved head

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:37:59

Be all tweedy and sweaty ...

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:38:19

The hat, not my head

StuffezLaBouche Wed 13-Mar-13 20:38:48

Ooooh Rob!! He's got to go through!

grin tweedy head. mines like that in the morning. Dishes uninspiring so far.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 20:39:44

Bobby dazzler teeth, James!

Wow, white teeth!

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:40:05

I thought his teeth were over white...tit

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:40:25

I was going to shave my head and cover my scalp in tattoos, but then bloody shania did it, so I couldn't. As an alternative, I considered having a model of the Eiffel Tower embedded in the top of my head complete with flashing lights, controlled by eye blinks, but the cost was prohibitive.

Dentist! Expect they all dentist on each other at college, imagine.

"your job must be boring"

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:41:04

Yeah study for 5 years funded by NHs then discover your passion is cooking hmm

Aw James is lovely, like Bambi.

<<adjusts Jux's info on spreadshit>>

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:41:39

grin @ chaos

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:41:46

Bugger. Late, but here and ready for the bitchin'.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 20:42:38

Evening all, sorry I'm late. Poorly child. Now settled and I have wine so all good.

Tofu? Hmm.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 20:43:49

Oh dear. To all so far.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:43:54

Think I'd have caramelised the pineapple.

Disney eyes, James.

StuffezLaBouche Wed 13-Mar-13 20:44:54

Hahahaha oh the teeth :-)

How's the child, Rocky?

<<passes chablis>>

Nick some waasbi peas from beanandspud, mmkay?

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:44:58

Greg looks literally delated.
Do you think we'll see him re-inflate, as the series progresses?

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:45:03

So DentistBoy is the front runner. That's rather sad, actually.

Do you have a note, Hazel?

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:46:16

I think new destiniiyyy has promise too

I do not want to think about Greg's inflation, Hazel.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:47:10

I really don't like the Torode chap.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:47:13

No note, miss. sad

I do have a be-poxen child, have had one of those days and am more interested tonight in the slagging offs than the cuisine.

Am I in?

Just orf to grab seconds of supper, oldon.

grin Chaos <cut to Greg doing head nod>

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 20:47:54

Still temp of 39.2, but snoring away in my bed. Basically been asleep since two this afternoon the poor urch.

Phworrrr this looks delish.

In like a dishwasher tablet, Haze.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:48:19

envy <--- sick face at that image of Gregleton.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:48:51

Am always more interested in slagging than cooking, have had a crap day at work and my spleen will not vent itself...

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 20:49:06

His pastry looks raw.

Oh, poor dewdrop.

and Haze's spotty creature.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:49:54

Am wondering if this dish is in title sequence when they cut into something and it looks raw

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:49:58

That does look nice though.

Why have Wellingtons started making an appearance all over the shop?

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:50:22

The tall pretty boy, who does he remind me of?

Its game. You have to eat it bloody and quivering.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:51:47

And it should be hung until the maggots are crawling out of it.....

So said my grandfather.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:52:02

It is still flapping in title sequence...a good vet could resuscitate etc

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 20:52:05

They do seem to be rather all over the place Jux, I agree. I do love a good Wellington though.

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 20:53:55

This is a decidedly odd bunch of contestants.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:54:27

I did one at Xmas. My arm had stopped working so my bro rolled the pastry out for me. The puff pastry I had made from scratch. He killed it. sad

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 20:55:23

One looks like a Greggs steak bake hmm

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:56:20

Aw, poor girl.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:56:33

She looks a bit like Emma Thompson.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 20:56:49

This is Farmer Giles.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 20:57:09

Pigeon pasty smile

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:57:32

Aww, I like Farmer Giles.
He blushed when chastised re salt'n'pepa.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:58:29

Am I getting a soupcon of one-of-the-Knight-brothers-from-NKOTB from tall pretty one?

andadietcoke Wed 13-Mar-13 20:58:58

Hazel she reminds me of Kate Winslet too, both in voice and mannerisms.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 20:59:25

Rob is owning his Princess Diana Memorial head tilt tonight.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:00:12

I did one too, for Boxing Day. I wisely didn't get one of my brothers to help - the pastry would have been fooked at mine too if I'd done that.

They didn't do too badly IMO.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 21:01:55

Ooh, anda - I get the KateW voice, but maintain she's an Emma-ite.
Those 2 are meant to be friends, appara.

Richard Bacon.

He looks like Richard Bacon

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:04:51

His teeth look like the glow in the dark ones Ross had in friends

WipsGlitter Wed 13-Mar-13 21:04:58

James has had his teeth whitened!

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:05:10

That lamb dish looks heavenly.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:06:00

Checking in late again running risk of Chaotic death stare

Ooh she looks like the Bow Wow Wow girl!

White teeth but red eyes. Is he Dracula?

Ingrid is a sweetheart smile

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:07:25

TSS that's who I was trying to think of. Annabel something???

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:07:33

I have to go and eat there. Just squizzed at the menu online. Top notch.

Everyone gets a whole raw squash on their table? Nice.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:08:42

Annabella! I loved them, but I was about 10 or 11.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:09:26

Anabella Lwin according to Wiki. So Ann Lewis probs.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:10:31

Which restaurant are they at?

playing catch up but feeling confident have avoided the Death Stare

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:10:40

"Wild, go wild, go wild in the country..." grin

Caxton Grill website has crashed!

<<tuts at TSSD>>

Reapir your badness with gufts of wine and stuff.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:12:02

Caxton Grill in St. James's.

Oh poor Jez. A million steaks and his head looks boiled.

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:13:14

Is this a double episode tonight if it goes on until 10pm?

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 21:13:41

It's unfair that he has loads of orders, bless Farmer Jez

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 21:14:32

Chaos - it bloody is RichardBacon.
Ta very much.

With someone else's mouth though. I will think on.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:14:48

Rats! Here wine will that do?

DH at Rhodes 24 tonight and I'm making funeral wreaths. WTAF!

James had a western there. Contender for an early shower.

HazeltheMcWitch Wed 13-Mar-13 21:15:05

Jez is going to cry, isn't he?

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:15:21

It's the mouth of Dick Dastardly.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 21:16:02

He looks a bit like Matt Johnson Hazel

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:16:18

Jez for an early shower as there is no James confused

Its Jamie Theakston! Eek

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:17:08

"Teeth stuck in", Greg you funster you.

Wants to change life... passion..... <deja vu>

Oo don't cook a rack u less you can time the fucker. Looks like he rescued it though

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:22:19

He didn't double pod his broad beans. Yuck the rest looks good though

Some Bingo there, SITN.

Oh Greg just likes everything. WW does that to you. I would have eaten a babies head when starving on WW.

oH! Jez looks like that man on gardeners world..

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:25:18

Marjoram and five spice on the same plate is just bizarre.

Yes, MC Bingo. When do we get housey housey?

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:26:21

Place your bets ladies.

I think Ingrid is out.

It's called"courage" apparently rock but yeh sounds a but grim

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:28:14

All I can picture when Greg's talking is this

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:28:23

Can't really get into tonight's...

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:28:29

So what's happening for the next 30mins???

Ohhhhh poor Farmer Jez.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 21:29:12

Bye bye Farmer Jez. We liked yer 'at.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:29:40

I can tell you now she's going to get on my tits.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:30:00

Courage or not, I cannot think of a dish where one would actually think 'bingo, I'll put these two together'. And I'm an adventurous cook and diner.

Pretty boy face off?!

That was to beans!

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:30:50

For a dentist his teeth are fucking dreadful.

Can someone update me did I mi.ss a week or something? They are down to 4 already?

This seems sudden?

I cannot handle Ingrid, something about her.

Jez nicked my sons hat sad

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:32:12

Ohhhh dale is a recruitment director...

Bwahahhaha!!! Tart, Gregg!

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:32:49

Isn't the format that this is Heat 1 ending in a Qtr final.

Then they do it x4

Then go through to best of the heats.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:33:13

Each week they do Tuesday/Wednesday cook off stuff and then a battle for a quarter final place, so there'll be 4 weeks like this, then week of quarters, blah blah

Sob stories.

Are they all going to make tarts for Greg?

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:34:32

One of my friends works on the show, I'm sure see said it's a ten week show.

Thanks TSSDNCOP...

Head tilts seem to be catching...

'born to cook' HOUSE!

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:36:36

Yay James!!

Thanks!, was a bit confused

I want her skin.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:36:48

YAY Shelina!!!

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:37:04

Oh I do hate it when they ask stuff like "do you want to win" .. "Nah I'm not really arsed to be honest"

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:37:20

It's 23 episodes I think so must be 8 semi-finalists perhaps?

Oh, I did like James though, he was lovely!

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:37:35

Shelina has morphed into Vanessa Feltz

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 21:38:15

I don't remember that woman at all.

duffy he looks like he escaped from the set of the waltons
With hair wax

Looking very good.

Mango girl!

Salmon and ham and olive-oily casserole sounds all wrong to me, but they all seemed to like it.

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:40:23

Sideshow Bob likes it

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:40:31

I think two go through today.

On another note, The Clarence, where Shellina's DH/DP manages is one of my locals - seriously good grub at seriously cheap (for Balham) prices. Highly recommend it to anyone who passes through Sarf Londahhhhn.

difficultpickle Wed 13-Mar-13 21:41:14

Shelina won last year.

I quite fancy sideshow Bob.

TSSDNCOP Wed 13-Mar-13 21:41:22

I do not believe that Dale is not a bit of a pro.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:41:30

25cats Dale-Bob ?

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:41:49

Overcooked lamb. Oh no.

Yes, overcooked.

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:43:27

Yes. Fail. 'Hi Guys' hmm

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:44:39

Bye bye Ingrid!

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:44:41

I think that she's going.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:45:09

Ha Bean!

Yy! Also loving sideshow Bob.

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:45:21

Is Shelina the only one who can read?

Looks boring James.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:45:52

Oh dear...thought she would have fared better...the judge who isn't sideshow bob is a bit arsey isn't he ?

Ooh, pollock looks delish.

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:47:11

Why? Choc fondant -why?

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:47:49

Greg is almost wanking

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:47:55

Please ooze

Oh Duffyyyy grin [gurn]

How many weight watchers points in that Greg?!

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:48:56

I see they've got a genuine muppet fur cushion in the ante room

Son, be a dehhhntist!
execute a fondant?
Who is scarf man? giving Emily the evils...
him. Not me.

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:49:46

How shoddy is it to be third and be late?!

Oh noooooo! Burned lamb, very not good.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:50:12

Oh dear, that is sad.

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:50:32

Poor Emily sad

Oh poor Emily.

imustbepatient Wed 13-Mar-13 21:51:02

Poor poor Emily. I can barely watch.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 21:51:04

Aw, poor Emily sad

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:51:31

Oh dear. You might notice that there's some lamb missing.... grin

oh poor soul.

Do they stagger the starts so the third chef starts cooking later?

NomNomDePlum Wed 13-Mar-13 21:52:57

morto for her.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:54:15

I think the boys are through. Can't see how the girls can be.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 21:54:54

I always assumed that each did a different day, otherwise those judges have to eat a huge amount.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 21:55:53

OR not of course

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:57:10

It took six months of filming. Even Greg couldn't eat that much!

I quite like Dale. And James. <smacks lips at James>

beanandspud Wed 13-Mar-13 21:57:44

Right decision.

Bedtime... See you all for the next one...

PseudoBadger Wed 13-Mar-13 21:58:06

I wonder why there were only 4 tonight, when there were clearly meant to be 5

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:58:39

Ooh I love the critics.

Jux Wed 13-Mar-13 21:59:03

So is every Wednesday going to be an hour and a half of this? Ot sure I can take that much in one go.

No advert breaks for the making of tea, having a wee, grabbing cheese and biscuits. No no no no no.

DuffyMoon Wed 13-Mar-13 21:59:06

Eeeeek, next time looks scary, night all, see you next weds

Next episode looks tense.

RockStock Wed 13-Mar-13 21:59:35

Yep, bed for me too. Hope to see you all next week.

Next Weds then. Next week looks good.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 13-Mar-13 22:00:40

Night all, bit dull so far, still prefer the Aussie version.

Magimedi Wed 13-Mar-13 22:35:16

Did no one else sit through that wondering if Ingrid was a MumsNetter or not?

Was I the only one who had that as my first problem of not knowing??
