Who's watching?

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:05:11

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:05:22

I'm watching

ohmeohmy Wed 23-Jan-13 21:05:31

And me

I'm here. Might be the last one I watch before DC3 arrives.

This husband is going to be punchable, isn't he?

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:06:10

Hmm. I think he would annoy me, but what do I know?

Orenishii Wed 23-Jan-13 21:06:10

Me! Jealous of this spontaneous labour activity...god, i really need to get over my labour!

I'm here!

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 23-Jan-13 21:06:45

Is that all they are? Thought they were older!

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:06:49

legoqueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:08:00

Internet romance!

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:08:00

Am paying special attention tonight as being induced tomorrow

They're not going to show anything scary

Are they? shock

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:08:38

Yo soy multitasking grin

ImKateandsoismywife Wed 23-Jan-13 21:09:33

Wow eagleray thats come around quickly!

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:09:33

Made me giggle too!

Northern Dads only there for the sandwich

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 21:11:13

I'm here! The second couple are so sweet. smile

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:11:43

Yes Kate - succumbed to induction pressure yesterday

BoomBoomBoom Wed 23-Jan-13 21:13:10

I'm watching. I'm hoping I'm not watching next weeks as I'm 39weeks pregnant.

GroupieGirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:13:38

I'm not sure what I liked more "yo soy multitasking" or "I liked his lookings"!

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:13:51

Hopefully this time tomorrow you'll be snuggling your newborn eagle, good luck smile

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:14:16

Boomboom that's what I said last week (at 39+5)

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:14:22

I think I am v well qualified for a career change as a midwife - sitting here eating biscuits like a production line. They were part of the Christmas presents from the PIL. How did she know that I luffs like the Viennese sandwich ones?

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:14:58

Yo soy multitasking man looks like a footballer

Checking in.

Kudos to the nearly-cooked pregnant ones watching here!

Loving the S.American couple.

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:15:16

grin GroupieGirl

I think we are going to be in floods by the end of this.

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:15:19

Thanks Bootsy - after all the waiting, I think I'm slightly in shock.

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:16:50

I think I might want to shove that video camera up his arse by the end of it though.

BoomBoomBoom when are you due? I'm due on Monday. Reckon I'm going to go over though, I tend to have well cooked babies.

Good luck for tomorrow, eagleray.

Northern husband isn't as irritating as I first thought.

I'm not keen on Daniel.

BoomBoomBoom Wed 23-Jan-13 21:19:44

Good luck for tomorrow eagleray slightly jealous you will have a newborn soon

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:20:31

northern twat is annoying me now

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:20:31

Northern husband is more irritating than I first thought, midwife Maud is beautiful!.

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:20:32

Thanks Anathema

BoomBoomBoom Wed 23-Jan-13 21:20:49

I'm due next Wednesday. I'm not allowed to go over my due date.

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:21:31

84 outfits? Fuck me.

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 23-Jan-13 21:21:35

Jack Daniel. Is that a joke ?

OMG at colour co-ordinated outfits for a newborn. She does know they puke, right?

Did the midwife say she'd met a man who was 34 and 9 years younger than her? She doesn't look 34 herself.

I was hoping so Ken, but I'm not entirely sure...

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:22:19

Did that MW say that she met a hottie and he was 34 and 9 years younger than her?!

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 23-Jan-13 21:22:48

No she said 24

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:22:48

maud cannot be 43!?

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:22:50

Jack Daniel - not a joke, I reckon

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:23:09

Oh shit - forgot to sort out a name and matching outfits shock will hope baby doesn't notice

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:23:21

PMSL at Paddington Bear!

EmpireBiscuit Wed 23-Jan-13 21:23:25

40+6 here - thought (and hoped) I'd be watching this weeks knowing what it is like sad

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:23:52

envy at getting to use pool

I'm sure that blonde midwife is great, but I'm not sure I could take her seriously if I was in labour!

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:24:18

eagleray - what have you been doing?

Make sure the socks match the bib. And you need a dummy with baby's name on.

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:24:20

columbian guy is very funny! grin

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:24:23

Xpost! Or maybe she's 9 years younger?

Oh look it's that squeaky midwife again. I'm sure she's lovely, but that voice! I had a lawyer on the other side in a transaction with a voice like that once. SO hard to take her seriously.

That blonde midwife is so irritating. I'm sure she's very good at her job, but I wouldn't want her anywhere near me if I was in labour.

Bue Wed 23-Jan-13 21:24:34

No Maud is 33! She is lovely.

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:24:39

Sorry Empire - me too. Fingers crossed for both of us for next week

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:25:40

Loving the Paddingtons with the tunes

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:26:04

ooh - that's what my Argentinian toyboy lover used to say to me "you are my queen"

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:27:07

could really punch the guy in the jack daniels t-shirt!

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:27:08

Eagle grin

The dad is called Daniel? The son will be called Jack..

I'd be telling him exactly where to shove his Snickers.

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 21:27:47

He reminds me of Kurt from Corrie. grin

Bue Wed 23-Jan-13 21:27:47

I'm sick of Jack already and he hasn't even been born yet.

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:27:49

God, I bet my DH will be like Northern husband - eating all the snacks within minutes of arriving and then saying "What?! You didn't want any!!"

He really is annoying, isn't he?

legoqueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:27:54

Not sure if she's weeping in pain or in frustration with Northern dad's inane chatter...

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:28:40

Northern dad looks like a potato with eyes, somebody should tell him that fashions for people with no style.

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:29:39

Peeing myself at potato with eyes!

I bet he eats all her toast after the baby arrival, too. DH did that after DD was born. I'm still annoyed by it, nearly 2 years on.

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:29:46

why does he want jack to be just on the edge of what's fashionable? confused

i think he's odd. quite immature.

legoqueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:30:19

Columbian guy has had such a hard life...

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:30:21

oh god ..poor bloke sad

Why would you have aspirations about how your kid dresses? He's weird.

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:30:37

sad he lost his mum aged 9!

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:30:41

Arw poor lovely lovely Columbian dad

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:30:50

I am making DP bring me food from a local posh deli - he is a greedy pig but I know he won't steal it as he thinks vegetarian food is the work of the devil

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 23-Jan-13 21:31:13

Potato with eyes grin
Columbiano is just lovely.

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:31:37

I had to come on and see what people were saying about the northern dad!
He would be seriously annoying me I would have kicked him out by now!

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:31:41

Poor guy (sorry am streaming the programme so a minute or so behind everyone)

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:31:46

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 21:32:02

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:34:52

i wonder if his little sister survived. if he has any siblings/family to celebrate this with. so sad. i cant imagine being 9 and alone with my mother while she was going through that. poor guy.

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:35:13

Poor columbian guy sounds like he has a really hard life/childhood. Im crying already at his mum dying when he was 9yo sad

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:35:22

His mother dyeing in childbirth also explains why he got the camera out to do an interview with mum.
poor guy, I bet he's terrified sad

legoqueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:37:12

This is so heartbreaking...

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:38:00

I missed who the other woman in with them is? Though it was her mother, but praps not.

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:38:18

sad sad sad

they are a lovely couple. really nice together.

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:38:20

I will remember this when I throw my next hissy fit about not having a home birth.

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:38:41

good point beebies

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:38:48

It's her friend

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:39:08

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:39:51

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:39:54

Baldy bloke is very annoying!

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:40:01

Grrrr potato Dan is a massive wanker, what a pig

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:41:37

No you tosspot, Jack's safe delivery is much more important than him thinking you're a cool dad

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:42:37

Oh dear his own dad was an even bigger idiot - explains a lot actually.

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:42:42

Columbiano could be a doula, he's fabulous

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:42:42

aww I bet he blubs like a baby when Jack comes

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:42:50

<snurk> @ potato dan! grin

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:44:08

did Kerry have an induction and/or epidural? I seem to keep missing these details!

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:44:12

this couple really are so cute

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:44:29

Oh they are lovely <blub>

"Our baby is a gift of our love"

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:45:01

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:45:21

Love love love this couple. Diego is going to be a lucky boy with all that love.

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:45:35

'if hes falling I want to catch him'
I think I'm in love with this dad!

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:46:03

Not sure about her friend taking pictures of her fanjo as the baby emerges though

confused grin

What an amazing birth!

legoqueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:46:36

Wow, full of emotion!

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:46:40

I'm suprised shes still standing after that! I think I'd need a sit down!

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:46:45

me too beebies!

ImKateandsoismywife Wed 23-Jan-13 21:46:51

Columbian dad is lovely!

I thought the older mw (can't remember her name) retired at the end of the last series confused

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:10

And they had that nice sensible MW with her lovely beat bob for the last bit.

MirandaWest Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:13

Lovely smile

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:28

That was an amazing birth. Almost makes me want to have another.

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:29

Oh God pass the tissues.....

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:37

beat neat

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:41

Just the most gorgeous birth. makes me want to shed a tear too, and makes me even more broody!

Lovecat Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:43

Oh God, Northern potato reminds me of DH during my 36 hour labour. All I got were moans about how uncomfortable his chair was and 'at least you're in a bed' angryhmm - he still goes on about it now....

GroupieGirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:57

Agree with PPs re: squeaky. I would be requesting a new midwife (or insisting on silence)!

The Mexilumbians might be my favourite couple ever!

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:47:58

I LOVE team Columbia! "My son" arw

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 21:48:21

How lovely! smile

Different senior midwife I think ImKate - it was the midwife from southampton (brunette hair in a bun) who retired. Grey haired midwife is from Leeds. But they do share a bit of a 'look'!

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 21:49:22

Brilliant grin

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:49:28

godfrom one couple grateful their son will have a roof over his head and food to eat to the other with 84 outfits !

Bue Wed 23-Jan-13 21:49:40

I'm sure that midwife retired too - it was the last episode of the last series, wasn't it? Maybe she's doing bank shifts!

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:49:51

That was lovely - I have same nightie as her, hoping it brings me some luck!

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:50:57

She did retire - they did her an amazing buffet!!

DH came in and talked to me all the way through that birth, the git. What I did see of it looked lovely though.

Don't know how she stayed standing afterwards.

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:51:09

I hate those condescending say hello to a mental person today adverts, sooooo patronising hmm

Orenishii Wed 23-Jan-13 21:51:30

eagleray good luck for your induction tomorrow! Try not mourn the HB too much...the thing that messed me up was not being prepared for what it would feel like in hospital. Accept it, go with it, you'll be amazing with your baby's 67865 matching outfits grin

ProphetOfDoom Wed 23-Jan-13 21:51:51

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Am confused - no drugs but she's on a drip? Or is that still from the induction meds?

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 21:52:38

He is going to be a little babe magnet. grin

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:15

awww! look at him looking at his daddy! gorgeous!

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:28

she was given a drip to speed up labour 26 hours!!! shock)

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:28

Thanks Orenishii smile - trying to do last minute preparations now...

Very cute baby!

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:30

Gorgeous Diego and his lovely hair bless

GroupieGirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:33

That boy could NEVER be ashamed of them!

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:54

Oh dear 'let him be a real man from the beginning' sad

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:54:12

"Our Kezz"

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:54:26

You can just see the relationship already with Columbian guy and Diego

Pushing for an hour? Ouch!

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:55:47

i think he said "proper boy"

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:55:59

Come on our Kezza!

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:56:40

oh come on sad

BeebiesQueen Wed 23-Jan-13 21:57:04

ah dh jus came home with dc, have to go and put them to bed

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 21:57:36

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 21:57:38

Gawd that was graphic

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 21:57:40

ImKateandsoismywife Wed 23-Jan-13 21:57:45

Diego is beautiful! They are going to be such a lovely little family, there is so much love there.

I'm certain it was that mw who retired - they had a little party for her and she was talking about how they all supported her when her husband died.

girliefriend Wed 23-Jan-13 21:58:21

Oh bless him

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:58:23

See, now we feel for potato head.

He's still a cock, though.

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:58:25

aww I knew he'd be emotional

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 21:58:51

I'd liek to shove his phone up his arse

ImKateandsoismywife Wed 23-Jan-13 21:59:06

Bugger, too busy posting and I missed the birth!

IAmLouisWalsh Wed 23-Jan-13 21:59:53

Seriously, how soon did anyone else start phoning round? It was a good hour before DH did, I reckon.

sailorsgal Wed 23-Jan-13 22:00:01

I think he redeemed himself there at the end.

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 22:00:38

Did northern potato really need to get his hairy tits in Jacks face confused

ggirl Wed 23-Jan-13 22:00:40

retired midwife is probably working on the bank

If I was his wife I'm not sure I'd be so keen on him phoning his mum while I'd just pushed out his son. EAch to their own I suppose.

Am VERY Confused by retiring midwife now too!

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 22:01:54

Was wondering same bootsy grin

Just discovered DP has been sat downstairs sneakily watching OBEM - does anyone think he might be trying to do some last minute swotting-up on what a birth is like? hmm

GettingObsessive Wed 23-Jan-13 22:02:06

Well, that was emotional.

Best of British for tomorrow eagleray

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 22:02:22

i have to say i'm impressed with those men staying throughout the labour. my EXP and my mum disappeared off up to the canteen for a fry-up when i was in labour. by the time they had remembered me my contractions had ground to a halt and i'd been induced!

TheCountessOlenska Wed 23-Jan-13 22:02:49

Ahhh - the Mexican lady's birth was lovely, brought a tear to my eye! Both births were lovely actually. Have been avoiding OBEM as go off it when I'm pregnant - but I'm getting a little bit excited about doing it again now (34 weeks!)

bootsycollins Wed 23-Jan-13 22:04:08

Eagle do you think your dp could learn some Spanish phrases by tomorrow? grin

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 22:04:38

yes eagerlay! grin tell him that it's the comumbian guy he needs to be paying attention to. not potato dan and his phone!

ProphetOfDoom Wed 23-Jan-13 22:05:21

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

Booyhoo Wed 23-Jan-13 22:07:05

confused comumbian?

ImKateandsoismywife Wed 23-Jan-13 22:09:57

Good luck tomorrow eagleray smile

CarriePie Wed 23-Jan-13 22:10:21

Hairy man would have had his phone hocked down the toilet if I was his lady. I have instructed hubby that the phone stays away. Also phoning his mum 3 secs after the birth - come on mate give it 5 mins.
I loved the Columbia /Mexican couple though - bought a tear to my eye when he said about anyone being a father but it taking a real man to be a dad! What a lovely thing to say!
Ps Id love Lucy the squeaky midwife as mine - she seems lovely!!

recall Wed 23-Jan-13 22:16:43

Columbian Dad so nailed it, they ought to show that to expectant Dads at ante natal classes - watch and learn !

eagleray Wed 23-Jan-13 22:19:58

Thanks everyone smile

DP v touched by Combian guy - hopefully watching him will influence things tomorrow...

Pocketsocks Wed 23-Jan-13 22:37:33

can't help but laugh at the comment about the waters, something like "i thought they might go with a bang" to which the midwife said oh no maybe a tiny pop.
I scared the daylights out of a room full of staff with mine "like a champagne cork" apparently. just goes to show expect the unexpected with labour!

bottleofbeer Wed 23-Jan-13 22:43:38

Uhmmm wonderful Columbian had a camera shoved permanently in her face.

FeckOffCup Thu 24-Jan-13 11:29:18

I really admired that mexican lady (Belem?) giving birth standing and so calmly and without fuss, although have to nitpick one small point, her husband said she did the whole thing without drugs and I'm sure she got gas and air earlier in the programme. Still a lot better than me though, I was begging for a second shot of diamorphine when the first wore off and they wouldn't let me have it as it was "too near the birth now" (which it wasn't, 4 hours of pushing and forceps before any baby appeared).

Orenishii Fri 25-Jan-13 15:55:48

eagleray any news?? Hoping it all went wonderfully and you're chilling out with your new baby right now!

eagleray Mon 28-Jan-13 23:24:03

Hi orenishii - baby finally here today! I have to say that the birth went from being planned HB to ending up almost identical to yours: PROM (or not!), meconium (or not!), trying to cope with hypno, pethedine failing, induction started, epidural given, then ending up with forceps, stirrups and episiotomy.

Feeling a bit rubbish about it all, but it is early days (birth this afternoon) but just trying to accept it. Baby is utterly gorgeous and I'm 41 so v v lucky to have her smile

Bizarrely, quite liking being in hosp as need looking after but will be nice to go home when ready.

It does just seem to depend a lot on luck of the draw and I guess we were unlucky sad
