Anyone watching? Love Stephen K Amos, he is very funny.

Davros Mon 21-Jan-13 21:06:18

Bit annoyed that its on 8.30pm-9.30pm. What about kids who want to watch it, DD loves it? We will have to do it a day late each time and I've had to hide that it's on from her or she'd kick up a stink to watch it tonight. Looking forward to it though

MunchkinsMumof2 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:10:37

My dd will watch it after school each day as it's her favourite programme.

MunchkinsMumof2 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:12:51

Custard slices, yikes!

Tweedledeedum Mon 21-Jan-13 21:16:19

Archbishop Desmond Tutu face cake! Hilarious!

MunchkinsMumof2 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:18:47

Put some flour on your work surface dufus!

beanandspud Mon 21-Jan-13 21:19:13

This is much better than I expected (not always a massive fan of celebrity shows).

beanandspud Mon 21-Jan-13 21:21:06

Loving the Sue Perkins cake though!

MunchkinsMumof2 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:22:02

Am actually laughing out loud at this grin

LegoAcupuncture Mon 21-Jan-13 21:22:54

Forgot this was on. Will have to watch it on catch up.

ILoveOnionRings Mon 21-Jan-13 21:29:13

The chocolate orange one looked like one I might actually try

ILoveOnionRings Mon 21-Jan-13 21:30:40

8pm tomorrow

Shybairns Mon 21-Jan-13 21:36:26

Loved it! Now want to bake a huge chocolate cake! grin

Oodsigma Mon 21-Jan-13 21:39:27

Watching this on delay. Loving the face cakes !

Oodsigma Mon 21-Jan-13 21:39:50

Watching this on delay. Loving the face cakes !

Cherrypi Mon 21-Jan-13 21:40:10

Is Sue back tomorrow?

MunchkinsMumof2 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:41:53

Sue doesn't do the Comic Relief ones for some reason.

HomeEcoGnomist Mon 21-Jan-13 22:05:52

I want some Desmond Tutu cake!

A propos of nothing: I made a lovely lemon drizzle cake at the weekend
And slow cooker rice pudding

grin

SomedayIllFlyAway Mon 21-Jan-13 23:08:21

I'm watching it on iPlayer thingy / catchup.

So far it is funnier than I expected - I tend not to enjoy celebrity versions of shows. Also loving the face cakes!

Does anyone know why are they using K-Mix mixers rather than the Kitchen Aid ones they have used in the past?

noblegiraffe Mon 21-Jan-13 23:53:17

Sue said on Twitter she wasn't on as she was filming a sitcom?

dylsmimi Tue 22-Jan-13 02:20:17

Anyone else still [shocked] that Paul referred to Mary berry as bezza?! smile

Was good tonight - the sue cake should be present for the remaining nights!

Salteena Tue 22-Jan-13 08:33:08

Have to admit that dh and I were almost crying with laughter when those custard slices were displayed. Looked like the mangled remains of an explosion in a cake factory grin

Interesting too that they all answer back to PH - 'normal' contestants wouldn't dare!

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 22-Jan-13 16:28:35

Already looking forward to tonight's epsode, my ds told me off for laughing too loudly last night!

Rosa Tue 22-Jan-13 16:34:03

Am overseas so watch on i pad ( which is bieng used by dh right now) BBC2 at 8pm Uk time??? Is it weekly or daily ? thanks

MunchkinsMumof2 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:12:58

8pm UK time, Rosa and on tonight, Wed and Thu.

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat Tue 22-Jan-13 20:48:34

Grrr no signal on Sky due to weather conditions, also have v slow internet, maybe I'll download tonight's overnight.

Felt so relaxed and cosy watching last night's, GBB always has that effect.

Tweedledeedum Tue 22-Jan-13 21:04:43

Hmm not as funny as last night so far...

vigglewiggle Tue 22-Jan-13 21:07:02

We thought it was hilarious in this house. DH nearly fell of his seat at one point.

I now NEED bakewell tart!

emess Tue 22-Jan-13 22:42:19

I am now a fan of Warwick Davies! I wasn't fussed about him on TV before. He's so much better when he's not having to downplay his talents so as not to outshine a certain Mr Gervais. Even Duncan Bannatyne surprised me; I normally find him a bit arrogant but he was a good sport.

Bakingnovice Tue 22-Jan-13 23:28:35

The first one was hilarious! Them custard slices! Joe brand was v funny with not slicing hers.

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 23-Jan-13 08:51:28

Another brilliant episode, loved Warwick Davies and Duncan's tiniest gateau in the world!

WingDefence Wed 23-Jan-13 13:38:38

I'm just watching the second episode as I recorded it last night. If that bunch of amateurs can make a Bakewell tart, I reckon I could have a go grin

Haven't got to the showstoppers yet but my money's on Warwick so far. I've only seen him in films not on the tv and he's pretty good.

LIZS Wed 23-Jan-13 13:40:50

love the squirrel - he's the new Sue !

WingDefence Wed 23-Jan-13 13:45:55

Oh and I noticed the K-Mixes too.

Ooh Duncan's egg whites look a bit rough second time round...

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 23-Jan-13 20:02:10

Looking forward to tonight's-wish it was on longer than 4 days.

I made custard slices yesterday after watching this on Monday. They were surprisingly easy. I guess using shop bought puff pastry probably counts as cheating though ? grin

awaynboilyurheid Wed 23-Jan-13 20:27:14

Is it just me that gets slightly annoyed by Julia bradbury she always seems so pleased with herself

Stoneinwelly Wed 23-Jan-13 20:40:53

DP and I agreed Julia Bradbury seems very lively . DP then said she was probably wild "in her pomp". I'd never heard this expression before but I think she is still in her pomp!

MunchkinsMumof2 Wed 23-Jan-13 21:21:15

Loved Ellie, such a sweet girl. Thought they all did well tonight. Looking forward to Claudia Winkleman tomorrow, she always makes me laugh.

ILoveOnionRings Wed 23-Jan-13 21:45:31

I found Julia irritating too. Really liked Ellie but always have (thought she should have come in the top 3 in Sporting Personalitis too).

WingDefence Thu 24-Jan-13 14:04:39

I thought Julia was okay. Really not sure about Kirsty getting joint SB though - should have been Ellie on her own.

Wasn't as funny as last night's - I laughed out loud a few times - but I'm looking forward to tonight's smile

MunchkinsMumof2 Thu 24-Jan-13 14:35:15

It's such lovely television and makes me want to be more adventurous with my baking!

beanandspud Thu 24-Jan-13 20:06:07

Anyone watching tonight's episode? I have enjoyed my 8pm date with Paul Hollywood this week wink

ILoveOnionRings Thu 24-Jan-13 20:10:25

I am

ILoveOnionRings Thu 24-Jan-13 20:28:23

Have I missed something but why is Martha whispering?

Salteena Thu 24-Jan-13 20:31:42

Lost her voice, onionRings.

Had to laugh at Mel's box-ticking joke

beanandspud Thu 24-Jan-13 20:32:46

I used to love lemon meringue pie... some of these are truly dreadful!

ILoveOnionRings Thu 24-Jan-13 20:34:24

When they first said lemon meringue, I said to DH 'I could make one of those' but now I am not to sure

Arithmeticulous Thu 24-Jan-13 20:37:15

That has indeed 'been on a journey' grin

Arithmeticulous Thu 24-Jan-13 20:37:41

And doesn't Mary like Ed shock

VivaLeBeaver Thu 24-Jan-13 20:38:21

I'm finding Claudia quite irritating.

beanandspud Thu 24-Jan-13 20:43:23

I think you're being too kind Viva - she is very, very irritating.

VivaLeBeaver Thu 24-Jan-13 20:45:43

grin

I think Paul and Mary agree with us!

ILoveOnionRings Thu 24-Jan-13 21:00:30

As irritiating as Julia Bradbury - even more so

Franke Thu 24-Jan-13 21:02:41

I just zoned out - when's the final?

WingDefence Thu 24-Jan-13 21:54:09

That technical challenge was very funny! I can't stand Claudia anyway (she need a serious makeover) but she did make me laugh a couple of times, simply because she really didn't seem to be taking it seriously?

I am completely not inspired to make a lemon meringue pie though grin

Have you seen the recipes are on the BBC website? I'll be doing Mary's bakewell at the weekend.

Bakingnovice Thu 24-Jan-13 22:21:32

Oh can someone please tell me if the final will be repeated? Gutted I missed it. So are the kids.

There hasn't been a final...

Bakingnovice Thu 24-Jan-13 23:21:14

Oh I meant today's episode. Sorry. I've got the other three recorded.

TheSilveryTinsellyPussycat Sat 26-Jan-13 10:34:27

Well iplayer did its stuff, and the Sky box seems to have recovered.

I will admit to a slight <ahem> reaction to 'the musk of Paul Hollywood' blush

LIZS Sat 26-Jan-13 10:36:11

Reshowing this evening on BBC2

ppeatfruit Sat 26-Jan-13 13:30:01

OOH goodie! what time is the repeat? I loved the way Mary was being REALLY nice and P.H. was being a shxx they must 've been directed to do it but it made it so much bettergrin

Bakingnovice Sun 27-Jan-13 16:24:47

Oh god just watched the second one. They're all a lot more seasoned and Julia is annoying!

januaryjojo Sun 27-Jan-13 21:03:03

Quick question.

Why isn't the last episode on iPlayer?

I've found all the others and watched them, just ant seem to find episode 4?

Ta

motherofvikings Mon 28-Jan-13 09:28:54

Is it just me or was 4 episodes enough to hook me back in to GBBO but leave me pining for more? confused

ppeatfruit Mon 28-Jan-13 13:20:26

Yes motherof and even I was fantasising about making a cake (it has remained a fantasy though blush)!

StrangerintheNight Mon 28-Jan-13 19:20:02

Is that it then? Will there be some kind of final on comic relief night? You're right motherofvikings they can't whet our appetites then leave us hungry for more.

Bakingnovice Sun 03-Feb-13 20:34:44

Omg did anyone else notice claudias top lip? Really didn't think she would go for that sort of enhancement. It looks ridiculous. Especially as she wears a weird nude lipstick.
